COTA, the public transit in Cota, faces major reliability issues. Customers report buses frequently being late, not showing up, or being too early. Cleanliness and driver conduct are also concerns, leading to frustration and missed appointments.
Tip: Plan for significant delays and potential unreliability when using COTA. Consider alternative transportation if punctuality is crucial.

Buy bus passes here at a counter or vending machine. Staff was very helpful and friendly. No issues getting what I needed. Building has bus stop right outside.
Left my wallet on one of the busses. The operator returned the wallet with cash and everything back to the station. Thank you for your honest operators!
AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME! There was a young lady stranded at the transit center by the easton mall and they sent a shuttle to go pick her up! Thats what I call customer service!
I am amazed how friendly the bus drivers are! The only thing that could be improved would be more busses
I was visiting from GA and the bus drivers for COTA were like my guardian angels. They treated me so courteously and helped me find my way around the city. I am grateful for all of their help.
I was taking training at OSU and I live in German Village. Discovered how amazing the CBus can be! Throughly enjoyed hopping on at High Street and getting off at Sycamore! No cost to me. Just some walking from Canon Drive to High Street. I wish the CBus came to campus!
I ride bus 22 that driver is 3075 thank you and God bless you for your customer service. Making my morning ride to work less stressful 😁
I have been a regular COTA rider for the past ten years though I also use several other modes of transportation. Public transportation is an important part of a regional transportation system that, ideally, will serve everyone. Most COTA drivers are friendly and helpful though I have been in a few situations where the driver had not been at all helpful [or in one single case had not been driving safely]; I always report those extremely rare instances to COTA with the goal of improving service for everyone. I periodically buy stacks of bus passes at the 33 N. High St. location so that I will not always have to have the correct amount of cash on hand when I am boarding a bus. The lines at 33 N. High St. are often long; some of that delay seems to be that the cashier evidently needs to manually enter all of the numbers of a bar code into the cash register rather than being able to scan that bar code. I am glad that COTA's bus schedules and "real-time" "bus location" information are available "on-line"; interestingly, Google Maps and the "Transit" smartphone app are vastly easier to use than the COTA website itself. If I am really concerned about the accuracy of a reported "bus arrival" time, I will check both Google Maps and the "Transit" smartphone app rather than depend on the accuracy of only one of them.
I had the pleasure of riding a bus with operator 5668… I really hope that’s her number any way. She’s am from out of state and as soon as we got on the bus she said I got you. She told me when my stop was because I was so nervous! Thank you lady!
COTA was named the best public transit agency in the country (for a city of Columbus' size) and, having lived in a few other cities as an adult, I can see why. In Seattle, there were many routes where the arrival times had zero credibility -- you might wait 40 minutes for a bus that was supposed to come every 15. That hasn't happened here for me. The constant free buses up and down High St. are convenient and will probably help keep the core alive. COTA recently added a smartphone checkin system that is easy and should help speed up the boarding flow.
The staffer here at the customer service counter was super friendly and helpful.
My husband and I used the COTA shuttle to take us to the OSU football game on Saturday. What a fantastic service this is. Thank you COTA for making our game day experience so easy and stress free. If you are heading to the shoe for a game, I highly recommend letting COTA do your driving.
Outstanding service. For a bus only transit system COTA and is great. I especially enjoy the added extensive crosstown service on the 'weekends' that helps in transporting passengers to public libraries that didn't used to be served by COTA (et al: Southeast & Gahanna branch libraries) Hooray hooray hooray!!! I also love the recently planned new #21 Hilliard Rome Service....
I will like to send my congratulations job well done to a driver that transported us on 7-20-2024 around 5:30pm-6pm . He ran route 5 going toward the Scioto park for Ribfest. I pray you have a abundance of blessings young man. The couple of drivers I encountered deserves recognition and you should be proud of them all Cota, because they are representing the company very wel! Be blessed!
Thank you, COTA, for being there when we need you. Recently, I was stranded in Columbus. The people of COTA stuck together with me to help me get home more than three hours away, by explaining the route system to me and what I would need to take, and giving me information about how to connect with other regional transit systems that would help me as well. This service really is lifesaving. Please support public transportation--it keeps people moving, it keeps people working, and the people who work hard to provide this service are to be commended. From the bottom of my heart, thank you COTA!
I just got off the phone with a customer service lady named Maya and she was great, very helpful and kind hearted. Easy to talk with and gave me all the information that I needed! Thank you Maya!🙏🏾 9 something in the pm.
The driver of the 35 route today 08/08/2025 at around 8 a.m did something great. He remains a people person.
Used the CMAX line from Westerville to downtown, with my bike. The driver was nice, his smile made my day because it was my first time riding (probably laughing with me because I didn't know which scanner to use), the ride was smooth and clean, and faster than expected. I know it's not perfect, but they're trying and it shows. In the many other cities where I've bussed, there are the same issues with timing but they have a lot more riders to support them. My only regret is biking back to Westerville because I feel like I robbed them of a usage point. (But that Alum Creek Trail! What a gift too.)
I've been riding COTA for over 20 years and can't recall any problems. I have a feeling the people leaving nasty comments don't often ride the bus.
Normally public transportation gets a bad wrap, but I have never had a bad experience riding the Cota buses. They are always in great shape, clean, and comfortable ride. I really wish more than anything that they get real-time gps updating like OSU Cabs has. It would make days when the bus doesn't show up a lot easier to prepare for.
I use COTA everyday to get to and from work and to go other places. I get that it’s not the greatest public transit system and could be expanded, but I appreciate the fact that it’s there as I’m a nondriver.
Disgusting literally never on time calling to make a complaint doesn’t do anything. Disgusting we have to pay for a bus system that can never be on time
Bus drivers as very unwilling to work with you, always have attitude. The buses are always late, takes forever to get anywhere. But hey, they get you from point a to point b right.
The only thing I can say is that Cota bus in never on time. They are always late or early. Some buses are clean others are nasty. If you have a job catch a early bus because you never know which bus never shows up it could be many reasons why the bus did not come. maybe cause of traffic,or it was broke down or something like that sometimes they have problems on the bus with different types of people. The Bus drivers seem to be nice some even try to talk to you about whatever.
I take cota as my means of transportation but majority of the drivers are rude. If you speak to one of them they don't speak back or they just look at you. That's poor customer service
I'm leaving this review on google because apparently their site is down. On 7/25 @ approx 9:43am on Sawmill road (right outside of Carriage Place). Bus route 18, # 2918 dropped off a couple of passengers at the stop right out front of the Urgent care on Sawmill. The driver pulled forward a little then stopped again where the turn lane is to enter into Carriage place & turned their hazard lights like they were making another stop. (I was confused as to why they had to stop again so soon and was stuck behind the bus as I was attempting to turn in to Carriage place). After another moment of waiting I saw a the COTA driver walking away from the bus & towards Taco Bell. At this point I'm still stuck behind the bus waiting, and pissed off. I'm not sure why this seemed to be an appropriate place to stop and park the bus. I did see the driver enter & leave the Taco bell, the driver also had enough time to mess with their phone on their way in/out of Taco Bell. Not sure if this was an emergency pit stop, but I'm sure there was a better way to pull over.
I've been seeing quite a few buses saying NEXT BUS PLEASE. after already waiting for the bus. Then have to wait another 30 minute's or an hour for the next bus😕 late for work. Hope that cota will be able to hire more driver's.
Some of these drivers don't even give elderly or people with handicaps to be seated before pulling off. And the brake so hard I slipped and fell as I was getting up to exit the bus. It's really inconsiderate
Bus drivers do a great job. But High street bus doesn’t go all the way down high St. downtown!! Then the Parsons and Livingston ride right pass the court house but don’t stop! Makes no sense that you have to keep getting off. So I ended up getting a uber to parsons and Livingston.
They have some good days but busses usually run late and sometimes they skip entire sections of bus stops to try to be on time , and still run late . Customer service never has an answer as to why buses do this. BS we vote to keep the transit and they can't even service us in a timely manner.
SUCK ASL... I ASKED SEVERAL AGENTS SIMPLE QUESTIONS NONE IN WHICH CAN REALLY ASK THE QUESTIONS EVEN ON A RAINY DAY LET ALONE A SUN SHINY DAY. BASIC QUESTIONS CONSISTS OF WHERE IS YOUR STARTING POINT AND WHERE ARE YOU GOING TO BE GOING? WELL FOR STARTERS THE LIBRARY, YOU GIVE MAIN DIRECTIONS LIKE NEAR GRANT OR HIGH STREET THEY'LL SAY CAN I GET YOUR FINAL DESTINATION... JUST GIVE ME THE TIME , NM THE DESTINATION... NEXT IRRITATING THING IS TELL YOU THE TIME THE COTA CARDS WILL EXPIRE OR WHEN YOU CHECK FROM THE MACHINE TELL YOU THE ESTIMATE TIME PRIOR TO WHEN THE CARD OR TO AVOID GETTING A TRY AGAIN MESSAGE UPON ENTRY OF THE COACH. 3RD ISSUE EVERY SITE POINT SHOULD HAVE THE RED BOX GIVING YOU THE EST. TIME OF ARRIVAL OF THE COACH , UNFORTUNATELY THAT'S NOT AT EVERY STOP NEITHER ARE THE BUS STAND ESP. NEAR MOUNT CARMEL NURSING BUILDING WHICH WAS REMOVED... COTA NOR COLUMBUS IS NEAR READY FOR CHANGE. PLEASE START OUT WITH READY CSR AGENTS WHO CAN HANDLE CALLS BASIC CALLS AND TH ELIST GOES ON N ON. THIS IS NOT DETROIT THE SAME ROUND AND AROUND CIRCLE. UPDATE THE COTA CARDS SO YOU CAN UPLOAD THE CARDS PRIOR TO ARRIVAL OF COACHES ...
The best part of the entire bus system is the downtown circulator. The bus system for someone looking to live without using a car is beyond challenging for this large city. In other words, it is difficult to make it to the suburbs living even anywhere in Columbus city limits.
Cota does not seem to care about their custoners when busses are so late it backtracks a customers whole day because the buses are 25 -30 minutes late or just never shows and customer service is a joke due to the fact that you can not ever talk to a supervisor upon request they will send you to a voicemail and they might call you back if they feel like it. Cota does not seem tounderstand that there are some of us that rely on cota to get to work/school and provude for our familes it is a serious issue. This morning i arrived at my bus stop 10 minutes early and the bus never showed up and cota couldhave sent a recovery bus but dud not care to i ride the bus for 2 hours everyday 5 days a week i catch the same bus at the same time everyday and when my bus is late i miss my next buss so essentially adds time to my route and it is not right that cota just does not care.
There's always a problem with cota bus. And especially the black woman drivers are the most heartless, they always have an attitude or something and won't try to help or be understanding. Take for example you standing in a place that the bus stop as always been there but maybe you don't know it was removed from that location, but they standing there bc that's what they usually know is the bus stop. Tell me why can't they stop the bus and say this is no longer a pick up stop. You need to go to a different side street or if you have a heart and say I'll pick up just this once but this no longer is the pick up spot. But nooo they just don't care at all they just rude rude and rude but they expect you to be nice to them smh😒 And at least the black male driver's aren't like that nor the other race. And has for those drivers who help riders in some I can see they are trying 👍 but I give this a 2 bc of the stress some bus drivers give which I explained who
You hire some of the rudest bus drivers!! They purposely drive past people! Its only a small percentage of bus drivers who are courteous. Who ever is driving the number one right now passes people on purpose. And for drivers to be late 95 percent of the time, they have NO RIGHT TO BE RUDE! Thank you to the bus drivers who are aware of their surroundings and stop when they see people running, or getting off of a certain bus and wait so we can get to that bus because the buses dont meet up in time!
Waited at the bus stop by Wendy's off west broad St. And no bus came , it was around 9:50pm. The cota bus site said there should be another bus 4min from 10:30pm so my husband and I walked to another bus stop still no bus. Finally we see a bus coming and it drives right past us as we stood waiting for it to stop. The driver as passing us flicked her lights off and continued to drive down west broad street. We are currently walking home which is not close to the Galway park n ride in the slightest. Please for the consideration of customers you guys should update as frequently as possible. This was such an inconvenience.
Buckeyes game COTA bus is practically unusable. Why did I wait at stop 1200 (High Street) for 45 minutes without a single bus going by. I amnot talking about seeing full busses. An actual bus never went by that stop. A full bus game by at 45 minutes. What happened to the 2? It is supposed to have 15 to 20 minute stops? Or the 102? It's no wonder the system is falling apart.
You have Some Very Nice Drivers Then Some Heartless Un Caring in a Rush and Very Wicked Drivers
I was on Route #1 at 3:45pm going down lane Ave and our driver took a right turn....ON TWO WHEELS ONTO OLENTANGY RIVER ROAD,CAUSING ME TO SLIDE OUT OF MY HANDICAP SEAT AND ONTO THE FLOOR...LANDING ON MY HIP,GOING TO THE DOCTORS TOMORROW.The bus driver had NO ID # AND WAS IN A HUGE HURRY TO GET TO RIVERSIDE HOSP.STOP....NEEDLESS TO SAY.....I AM HURT AND YOU WILL HEAR FROM ME FUTHER I THIS MATTER. M.D.BARTRAM.
Cota is literally the worst public transit in the country. And they dont even try to improve.
On 12/15/22 the number 23 didn't show for stop 4729 and when I tried to call cota customer service I couldn't got no answer so I guess no one has to do their jobthey do
All busses need to stop at their assigned bus stop. Just because you guys are off schedule that doesnt mean that y'all can skip bus stops.
Once again the bus is late over an half an hour and then sits on the side of the road and makes me an hour late for work. It's sad how unprofessional this service is with it being in the capital of Ohio. You figure they would run things better here but that would be an inaccurate assumption.
The drivers on the #35 route never leave on time. But when they do leave, they wanna risk everyone's lives, driving like crazy tp make up time. Do you guys even read these? Because it's about safety at this point
Very rude drivers ! The worst city bus experience in my life. I wouldn't recommend COTA for any one who doesn't know the bus lines because the drivers are rude and they are not good with people skills or communication!
Made a complaint about one of their buses blocking traffic on a private street. Never even received a call back or an email.
Our Public transportation is a joke. Buses are NEVER on time, sometimes they don't even come and in in the year 2023, how is it this state still doesn't have 24 hour services? This state is so far behind, it's pathetic!
South high street 8 Bus drivers takin hour breaks an making us seat out in this 90 degree heat not cool it been like this for 3 days straight need do better
Service just continues to get worse and less frequent. Poorly run organization run by a board that I'm pretty sure has never ridden a bus in their life.
Stranded me downtown when I was 7 minutes early for a stop. Called in and the lady said I read the route wrong. I did not.
The buses are frequently late and even it is normal that a bus doesn’t show up while it should based on its schedule. Never dependable!
Never on schedule, no customer service assistance.. if you call, you will be connected to a voice mail to leave a message. Most of the drivers are rude. #1 line the worst.
The updated procedures and policies are not fully understood by staff & causes additional confusion for bus riders.
Coverage is terrible if you live in the city and you want to commute and the bus drivers often don’t stop at stops or just refuse to open the door if they think you weren’t at the stop fast enough/looking interested enough.
Every single time I ride the bus its late I've been at the stop since 8:30 and the bus just got here at 9:15 I really feel when the bus is more than 15mins late you're ride should be free😡 the driver is already on the time clock I leave out early & still end UP late 😡point less & some straight up BULL
I have always been travelling in the bus but there no option to speak to customer executive
Unreliable company and employees, bus often show up late or simply dont show up, you call them and they can't do anything. They dont plan their bus shifts and dont have enough drivers for the busses. Worse public transportation service ever
This is the WORST bus system in the country I've encountered (Seattle, Portland, Miami, Dallas, NYC) of all major cities I've ridden in. I see many reviews saying the buses are always late and then the rider is stranded waiting for 45 minutes. The buses are chronically EARLY which causes people to miss them. I've attempted a few trips just this month (March) and here is my experience. Most buses come every 30 minutes. The buses here are "allowed" to be 10 minutes early. I've had to chase down 3 buses, reinjuring my hip and now bedridden again. I was leaving Riverside Hospital and the bus stop i on the opposite side of the road with no sidewalk and no where to go other than getting on the freeway. The ground is super uneven and the entire stop is on an incline (fine if you dont have mobility issues). It's a busy street and I was 30 feet from the stop and the driver didn't even slow down! Luckily, he got caught on the stop light and I asked him why he didn't stop and he "didn't even see me". This was bus 31. The EXACT same driver, white haired guy with glasses, sped by the Hudson stop 10 minutes early yesterday. Once again, the first time Im walking with a giant hiking backpack, cutting across a corner store lot next to the stop. He didnt even slow down, let alone, LOOK to see if passengers were close. That was at 1256pm. He wasn't supposed to arrive until 1:03-107p. One ride on the #8 between McGuffy and Morse, I saw passengers running and waiving at 6 different spots!!!!! One guy was screaming, flailing his arms, and running like an Olympian across a huge grassy apartment complex front. He was on the side of the road opposite the bus stop and the bus driver snickered and didnt even slow down, knowing he needed on. Then stopped to catch up to her wait times just up the road! This continued to happen the whole ride! Another driver of the #31 decided that one stop to the transit center was too far for HIM to walk back for his Chic-fi-la. After 8pm on a Saturday night, he left me (a small woman) by myself in a dark bus while he left the bus on the side of the road by Costco. Yeah, that's REALLLLY safe..... especially for a young woman with mobility issues that cant defend herself from a predator. The only place you can count on COTA is OSU Campus area to downtown. You know, those places where there are LOTS of people and lots of people's money to take (even tho it's free on campus). THIS BUS SYSTEM NEEDS A SERIOUS OVERHAUL. Oh wait, they just did that..... THIS BUS SYSTEM NEEDS BUS DRIVERS WHO ACT LIKE PUBLIC TRANS AND NOT JAILHOUSE BUS DRIVERS! P.s. Most drivers are uncaring and rude af too. Like heaven forbid they actually have to haul passengers while they colect their paychecks. Hence, this is why the buses are usually nearly EMPTY.
A driver was assaulted today by a passenger. Beating up so bad that his jaw was broken and he was left unconscious for about 30-40 min. His personal belongings were taken and later discarded. Passengers complain a lot about the driver’s being late or rude. The driver of this bus was neither one of those. He was just trying to do his job and got assaulted for it. Cota doesn’t provide any safety for it’s employees. They also have a policy that states that they can’t carry anything to defend themselves against. Disgruntle, Rude, and most time’s disrespectful passengers. The CEO of the company pretends to care about the driver’s. However Joanna M. Pinkerton action speaks different. She only made a statement about working with the police. She never said anything about preventing this from happening again. I pray for a safe and speedy recovery of the operator who was assaulted.
Absolute trash service. Won't let you ride with an ebike trying to cite a nonexistent federal law on hazardous materials on busses. If that's the case, laptops and cellular phones are illegal to have on the bus because the battery is exactly the same sealed lithium ion battery. My new ebike has a safer battery than some of the electric wheelchairs that I see on the bus. Los Angeles CA, Riverside CA, Portland OR, Seattle WA, and Cincinnati OH have determined what the company is telling me is law to be lies. I highly dislike being lied to about law. The stance they have taken against ebikes has also proven they have no commitment to the environment like they try to maintain, and its only an empty promise to try to obtain more funding.
Oh goodness, where do I even start? COTA is a total embarrassment to Columbus. Very few working professionals ride COTA because it's unreliable and doesn't have the right routes. Therefore, COTA doesn't plan any new commuter routes, nobody wants to ride it because it's full of vagrants... you can see how it's a self-fulfilling prophecy. This morning, with wind chill of 10 below 0, I stood with three other people for 45 minutes waiting for the #19 which never came. One of the people I was waiting with called customer service, who more or less implied that we got to the stop too late which is absolutely false. They then said they'd send a supervisor to pick us up which never happened. What a joke.
I have spent 20 minutes on the phone with an representative explaining that my 22 month old daughter and I have been waiting for the number 3 bus for over b an HOUR! This is a bunch of bull crap. I understand that a festival was happening this weekend but, this is not how you are supposed to treat your customers. Very inappropriate! Thank goodness it wasn't butter cold outside.
THE WORSE BUS SYSTEM IN WORLD! Always late. Never on schedule. Rude drivers. Won't pick you up if decided to walk and flag the bus down due to them being late. Just horrible. They are always late and you can't speak to anyone when call and complain.
I have a bus stop in front of my rental property. Lots of trash collects on the sidewalk. Cota has an "adoption of stop" program I applied for to help cut down on the litter. My application was denied! Cota claims not enough people ride at that stop! Shameful that someone wants to volunteer to literally take out trash and they act like the place their stop is located is not worth it! The "adopt a stop" is a a facade to make Cota look like they care.
First time in Ohio. First time using Ohio COTA system. The AirConnect Ticket machine doesn't work. Then when I got on the bus, I ask the bus driver if I could buy two since I only had 5$ and a 1. He just looked at me... I insert the money and afterward he said "congrats you just bought two." Wish he say that I can't buy two instead of smirking at me and waiting for me to insert the money... He did offer me a useless transfer coupon after all that though. Great service!
I understand that it's public transportation but the buses are unsanitary. Wherever you look there's either a stain somewhere or someone having an accident on the seat. I had bedbugs because of them they have those cushion seats and that's where they can hide at. Either clean the seats regularly and have everything sanitized or find another solution it's ridiculous. Another thing is why does the bus stop running at 9pm on Sunday? What If someone has to work and they get off later then that Then there stranded it's complete bullshit.
buses stopping at the white line is a deadly problem, and also stopping less than 100 feet after a stop light or stop sign! ?? I don't get it! Never cross the street in front of bus or truck type vehicle. Today a school bus turned onto Kimberly and stopped like 25 feet from an intersection to let kids off. Parents, this is a deadly school bus stop. 3 or 4 cars behind me and the last one sticking out in the street in a 3 way heavy traffic situation It should be against the law for buses and trucks to pull up to the white stop line which blocks all vision from other cars, people and kids. Also, a policy enforcing no walking in front of the bus after a stop! HELLO! is anyone home here????????????????????????????????????:(:(:(:(
One of the female cota drivers for #10 at 7:42a.m wouldn't let me on because I was literally 10 seconds late. Like that's very ignorant.
This sucked I am not from Columbus an told the bus driver I needed a certain area an she said ok then a new driver got on an took me an hour away from where I wanted to be then kicked me an my 6 year old niece off to walk 5 miles back. After laughing in my face.. needless to say I'm not happy with the service at all.
This would be a zero if possible. Saturday night, downtown, trying to get home which is 5 miles away. My only option is a bus at 4:30am. That is gross negligence. Shut the whole thing down if you can't be useful.
COTA is probably the worst transportation system in the whole mid west
Most drivers arent fit for customer service jobs. Really rude. God forbid you ask them a question. Routes are poorly designed. I now have to walk 4 additional blocks to get to work. I call it the cota exercise plan. Will go back to driving to work.
Incompetence at the highest level at every job they do.
A COTA Columbus, Ohio bus hit my parked car 3 weeks ago causing damage to the driver door, fender and light and will not resolve getting my car repaired after numerous repeated calls. We have been without transportation for 3 weeks and waiting for a resolution to cover the damages to the car. Bus driver admitted fault and COTA was really friendly when it happened. Now it is like they do not exist. The incident was documented and police have the bus drivers statement admitting fault.
Moving from Seattle I thought I’d try out the buses here, specifically line 74 which goes from Sawmill to downtown. There are only two headed downtown in the morning and the last one didn’t show up at all today. Do not try to rely on this bus system at all, esp if you have any other means. The lack of public transit/walkability in this city is disappointing
HORRIBLE AND BEEN!!! Especially the 31 HUDSON BUS. Just unreliable. Never on time, don't show up, miss stops, pass by you, bus breakdown everyday. And they don't care. Just horrible. ATP remove the route. DO BETTER COTA.
Careless, unless drivers with absolutely no compassion or grace. Never accountable, never on time. Columbus needs a new public transport system or COTA needs new management.
If you have to be anywhere in Columbus on time, DO NOT! depend on cota to get you there. even if you’re early, there’s a huge chance you’re gonna be late. And the bus drivers are good to try to start physical altercations on the bus, but will never confront you or try to see when they’re off work with the same energy ,for some reason they turn into ghost.
Absolutely terrible bus service! The busses are never on time, extremely delayed, or never show up. The cota app is never accurate with wait times either. Such poor service for central Ohio residents. Would NOT recommend.
I use cotas project mainstream service for people with disabilities. The service is awful! This year cota contracted out with a some new contractors and the service has gotten much worse. They on multiple occasions have told me that my bus is running to an hour to a half hour late in the evenings do to high trip volume. Who the heck wants to wait an hour to an hour and a half after work to get picked up? Not I! If you cancel do to them being late because you found another ride you still get penalized even though it’s not your fault. This service needs a change.
Ride the bus once in a blue moon, but never again! Had to use the bus a couple weeks ago, the driver & his friend was so rude to a disabled person (me). Call the phone number to complain but it's only an automated system. No real person to talk to. Go to social media to see if there was some way to talk to a person to make a complaint, but didn't give details about what happened (social media isn't a place for people to lodge complaints about drivers/services IMO) and got a response "we'll check into that." Pretty sure it was an auto-generated response. Seems like COTA doesn't care about rude drivers or driver's friends on the bus being rude to people either. Next time I need to go somewhere & can't drive myself, I'll ask a neighbor, call a cab or Uber.
No heat no wifi USB charger are off bus driver doesn't turn it on always late never on time late for work every day attitude from drivers. Poor tax payer dollars they act like they pay for it all..
This is to operator 5136, driving coach 1922 today, December 1st, 2021. If you don't like helping people, you maybe shouldn't be driving a bus for a public transit system. I got on the bus and simply asked if her number 8 was going up to campus or out Livingston and she very rudely tried to make me look stupid and snarkily (and loudly) told me she was going up to Lane avenue and turning, just like it reads on the top of the bus. It was pretty embarrassing. She needs to be fired. Some of these bus drivers kill me. Stay in bed if you're life is so awful you can't treat others who you serve at your job with respect. Remember we pay your bills. Rude rude rude.
Authority? A joke. . "a person or organization having power or control in a particular". Nothing about COTA demonstrates authority. Always late. Always delayed. Always missing my connection because the driver's and staff just don't care. Missing work. Arriving tardy. Don't offer a service if you can't provide it! Period.
I live on the #16/South High Street route, and have to go downtown and connect with my work bus, which is the #10 West Broad by Doctor's Hospital West. These two buses are completely out of whack!! The #16 drives down High Street, going 20 miles an hour, pulling over and stopping, stalling for time because he's apparently "early". Then we get to Broad and High, and just as I step off the #16, I look across the street to see the #10 about to pull away! Now remember, I have to go to DOCTOR'S WEST, so I can't just catch ANY #10...so I have to end up waiting almost a half an hour if I miss that bus! I just don't see why they can't align the schedules so that when I get off my #16 I can catch the #10 that I need to catch. It's literally a matter of 3 to 5 minutes, and obviously since the #16 is always EARLY, they could make it down there on time, and do their stalling at Broad and High, not in the middle of their route! ALSO...drivers are clueless and get pissed off if you ask for something as simple as directions! I was trying to get to an area of town I had no idea about. I even Googled everything before i left to make sure I was on the right track. I merely tried to check over my directions with the driver and he nearly snapped my head off and said "HAVE A SEAT!" He's lucky I didn't slap the mess out of him! I am not some ghetto trash just because I"m on the bus, and will not be talked down to by the likes of somebody like that. I got his driver # and reported him. I am still at the mercy of COTA but you can best believe if I ever see that driver again I'm going to give him a piece of my mind!
A whole week the bus 3 at 11.58 nationwide and McConnell being missing, evertime I call it a maintenance or not having drivers, who decided to give jobs to the most unqualified beings.
Buses suck. HALF DONT HAVE WI-FI NOR WORKING USB. App sucks. Google Maps can't properly sync bus times. They can come up to 5mins early OR NOT AT ALL! They have the NERVE to sit, parked, for up to 35 mins ....WITH BUS RUNNING!, and then wanna charge someone $4.50 for a day pass. FOH!!
Not the best service and the management nor bus drivers want to take responsibility for their unprofessional disrespectful neglectful behavior where they cause patrons to lose and break their personal belongings. I was charged for cota plus bus services on p.p. that were not rendered in May 2023 and when contacted for refund the supervisors have nothing but excuses They have to many ignorant prejudice bias nasty drivers working there, It seems as though its only a handful of ones working there that are respectful classy and professional.. The technology that the voters paid for are horrible they need to go back to paper schedules and the cota website they had in 2014
I'm on the number 5 bus I'm trying to get to number 9 bus to catch a ride to social security office on georgesville Street as I'm on number five he is trying to get me on another bus win number five goes to number 9 bus on North high Street in West Long Street the bus driver still trying to get me on number 10 bus to get to number nine of us that will cost me an extra $2 I'm trying to get from 5 bus to 9 bus as my directions stated on GPS
It is an absolute travesty that Columbus has to put up with such an awful transit service. Buses tht never show up, rude, hostile drivers, disgusting buses that constantly break down. Every time I take the bus, it's late Every time. It's the worst public transit system in the country ,
I am so furious with COTA right now. I was on S High St out side the courthouse 375 S High St waiting on the #8 to Parsons and Witter. The bus was supposed to arrive at 12:20PM. Of course it was late. I called in and was told that the bus was delayed. The driver was at Long St waiting to be relieved, but should be leaving shortly and would be arriving shortly. Another #8 bus passed my stop. I was told it was the #8 S High St bus, which does not stop at my stop. None of the infoation I was given was correct. I am now sitting by Walmart on High St and have a 10 minute wait before the bus leaves for Parsons and Witter
Don't lose anything on the bus related to a bag they will be difficult and don't allow customer service to contact lost and found for it they gas light and will hang up on customers keep that in mind before you give them your money
I was on broad street yesterday and I had a bus almost completely side swipe me. They didnt check their mirror to see if anyone was in the next lane. I was almost ahead of them on the left. If I wasn't paying attention and slammed by breaks and go to the next lane some it would have been bad. This picture shows the culprit.
Unreliable. Either extremely late or extremely early to a point that you cnat trust the scheduled times at all. The drivers are incompetent and take matters worse when they're late they rush you and drive recklessly. As for the customer service that's also abysmal. If you missed the last bus because it came too early or something like that they'll tell you to call and press 5 and when you do that because if the hour you are calling no one can help you because costumer service is CLOSED! They tell you to call if the last bus misses you and have no one there to help you.
This busing service is a joke. Always late. At least 75% of the time, especially to Polaris Parkway. The days that it was bitterly cold was awful and I still had to pay for the ride. They were really late and they still charged the full fare. I hate having to use COTA. Get it together!!!
Every time a #10 broad bus pulls up the #24 Hamilton bus pulls off can't even wait 10secs to see if any passengers aboard the bus and the same thing at Easton Mall center they pull off when other bus pulls in, people have jobs to get too and they careless bus drivers leaves them in the cold to freeze I think it's terrible and the driver's need to be dealt with leaving them like that. I saw a man trying to aboard the #5 bus and it pulled off in his face and left him, just wrong.
Would be a 0 if possible, because for the 3rd time the number 32 at stop 3674 never showed up and it only runs every hour so now I have to wait until 10:50 to catch the bus home when the wind chill is 11!!! if I didn't depend on cota to get to and from work or seeing family when in the hospital i would stopped using cota a VERY long time ago. FIX YOUR DAMN SYSTEM COTA YOU SUCK!!!!!!!!!!
Today, I waited at Broad & Hamilton Park for a bus that was scheduled to leave Broad & Ohio going downtown at 12:55, I arrived at Broad & Hamilton Park at 12:50. Never did a bus come, so, at 1:22, I went back home, missing my eye appointment. This was not the first time that this has happened, pretty sure it won't be the last. And now they want a new tax levy. Try managing the fleet that you have now.
They have a large window and people have to wait up to 30 minutes for a ride, people in wheelchairs and with canes, waiting in the elements for the transport to arrive. When you call and contact dispatch they claim to not be able to track the vehicle and that they have no idea on arrival time. However, when you get in the transport it’s clear they can be contacted by dispatch and the driver verified that they can indeed be tracked. It seems like with today’s technology they could give people a better pickup window much like an Uber.
