So cute So small So intimate Patrick is an absolutely amazing bartender. He is one of the 10 reasons we will commute from Arlington and come back often. Dont let the small space fool you. They have FILLING small bites and an absolute FULL BAR. The point of this place is to feel like your in a boxcar on a train. It definitely serves that purpose. They made amazing use of the space. Must get: Black truffle tator tots Chicken meatballs Butter croissant beignets with salted caramel dipping sauce🤤 We are so glad we found this hole in a wall prize. Amazing for date night, girls night and even a quick spot to pop in and have a drink. Even a small bday party would be so fun here.
What an amazing hidden gym in the city! This bars exterior is unassuming, but stepping inside you’re transported to a fantastically themed experience. We popped in for happy hour to try something new and left so very impressed. The cocktails were delicious and the happy hour was ridiculously fantastic and affordable. You have to try the food, especially the tater tots, which were a mouthwatering. To our Surprise, we even got a small magic show. Do yourself a favor and stop by. It’s clear to me that locals in the know love this place just by overhearing some of the conversations at the bar. Nico and Scotty could not have done a better job with this place. They made us feel exceptionally welcome.
Boxcar might be the single best bar I’ve ever been to. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable about every item on the menu. Every cocktail we tried was prepared from scratch with extreme attention to detail. The staff were absolutely on top of it, and I was never had to get anyone’s attention. and the bartender Scotty took the time to hear my feedback and suggested drinks to my taste. And WHAT DRINKS! The vibes were immaculate, the decor was perfect, and a diverse crowd of patrons who all were made to feel like they belonged.
This past Saturday was our second time to visit and both experiences were top notch. The food was fresh, hot , and full of flavor. The service is impeccable and the attention to detail is fantastic. They are truly crafting cocktails here - not just slinging bar drinks. The atmosphere is fun and light hearted and the music was perfect. We will definitely return and take friends with us !
This is a fun concept. It’s a cozy and trendy bar with shareable plates and great cocktails. The service was awesome too! We had the chicken meatballs - the toasted bread was my favorite. This is a perfect spot for a date or to chill with friends over a drink and apps.
Inventive cocktail menu well executed. Service is professional and friendly, staff happy to discuss the menu and flavors. Decor is really cool, mimicking a train on the move
If you just want to go to a place and experience a vibe of riding on a train, great atmosphere. Amazing workers who care about the place. It used to be a laundromat so it's very cool to go check it out. Very hidden place but the vibe is just amazing
Lovely, small bar for drinks with a cozy atmosphere. Very friendly and pleasant service.
What an awesome nook! Clever use of small window sized led TV's to create the effect of the outside scenery flying passed like you are rolling down the train tracks! The place is designed to be like you are in a swanky box car on a train and it's a really neat feeling. Drinks were superb. Full A+ score on the craftsmanship. Major thumbs up for this venue. Will definitely be back soon!
We so enjoyed a birthday celebration here last night. The ambiance and spot is so unique and fun. We made it our dinner spot too. The drinks were yummy; many I want to order in the future too. The food was good; got the cheese/ meat plate and the tater tots. A little heavy for our food choices for just two people. But it was delicious. My only recommendation for the menu: I’d love a light side salad; and a creme brulee/ chocolate custard type of dessert to choose from. Just my thoughts. Can’t wait to come back there!!
Well appointed bar/lounge, great atmosphere and bartenders know their craft. The tequila and mezcal drinks I had were very good. The interior is set up like a train boxcar with monitors on walls with moving scenery as if you are on a train.
My waiter Nico was the best “I highly recommend this business.” “Their customer service is second to none.” “The product quality is consistently outstanding, exceeding my expectations.” “I was completely impressed with their professionalism and customer service.” Our bill was $125 including tip…
I discovered this charming bar through a Facebook Reels feature (Dallas Lovelist) showcasing the Top 10 unique spots in DFW. This delightful vintage train car experience made for a memorable date night, despite the challenge of locating it! We circled the block a few times due to the tiny entrance, which lacked any signage. Fortunately, we spotted a small Boxcar sign in the back alley for parking. The lot was full, so we opted to park in the free, well-lit Ozona lot on Greenville. The Boxcar entrance is adjacent to a Vape/Cigar shop in a strip mall. Once inside, we quickly found a table for two, and our server promptly greeted us. She was attentive throughout the evening, and our drinks arrived shortly after we ordered. We started with two bourbon cocktails, Broken Quartz and X Roads, both delicious and beautifully presented. For our main dishes, we tried the French Dip and Meatballs, both of which were tasty. The meatballs had the perfect spicy kick. We rounded off our meal with martinis, which were equally impressive. Our tab for two was $109, which we thought was fair, especially given the refreshingly unique experience. If you're an adventurer this is a must-visit! For our next Boxcar outing, we plan on doing drinks and appetizers before enjoying a nice dinner nearby. If you're seeking something different for happy hour, this spot is worth checking out!
Dallas’s best new cocktail bar! Sexy, chic, and solid service. Carlos and Scotty are absolutely killing it behind the bar. Creative and beautifully crafted cocktails, great ambiance, and a solid charcuterie board. Can’t wait to try more of the menu and see what creations this team comes up with.
Drinks are incredible here! You really can’t go wrong. Delmonico, Broken Quartz and Espresso Martini were a few of our favorites. And we loved the vibe of being in a train car, such a great idea/concept. Perfect for the size and space. Only downside is parking, I’d Uber here if possible, otherwise you may have to park and walk a little (but it’s really not a bad walk). Overall a lot of fun, it’s become a DFW “must” for us!
Step off Greenville Avenue and into another world at Boxcar! This hidden gem transports you to the golden age of train travel with its plush velvet seating, dim lighting, and mesmerizing 'windows' that display scenic countryside views. But the real magic happens at the bar. Allen (Scotty) Scott and Carlos Angel, the expert mixologists and partners behind Boxcar, have crafted an exceptional cocktail menu using house-made syrups and infusions. Their passion for their craft shines through in every drink, like the unforgettable bourbon cocktail with orange/honey/milk syrup – smoky, subtly sweet, and unlike anything I've ever tasted. The small bites perfectly complement the drinks, making Boxcar the ideal spot for a sophisticated and memorable evening. If you're searching for a truly unique cocktail experience in Dallas, look no further. All aboard!!!

This hidden gem has the most charming atmosphere straight from the Great Gatsby era! The details curated for the illusion of a moving train car are astonishing! The craft cocktails created by the Scotty awaken the senses like never before accompanied by witty conversation! The server, Savannah greeted us with a beautiful smile and patiently answered all my questions, a true gem! Outstanding service, food and drinks! I would give them 10 stars if I could and will definitely return!!
We had an amazing time on date night! The amazing decorations/set-up for the holidays aside, Our server was super friendly and recommended some great drink options. So come for the drinks but honestly?! STAY for the best Pastrami French Dip mankind has made!!! Fell in love with this place after we had that. *insert Chef’s kiss*

Awesome atmosphere. Great personable bartenders. Good drings. Decorotated for Christmas. And happening but no so loud you can't have one on one discussions and hear your party. Great place.
Pastrami French dip is delicious. I am not picky, easily satisfied with the very best and it delivers. Great for a date or just drinks with friends. Delicious cocktails and friendly service. I am big gin drinker and they have some great cocktails. A great way to start or end your night.
This was one of my bucket list places it was ok I loved the train feel loved the drinks but didn't really like the food or food selection they only had 9 things on the menu. Pricing is fairly high but it was a good experience.
Can’t say much about the food because we were unable to order anything until a certain time, however, this is a neat concept. Although small, I mean, it’s a box car. You really literally feel like you are on a trip while sitting in here due to the visual aids that have been incorporated. Staff was super friendly and I’m glad I had the chance to see this up close and personal after seeing it on Instagram. Will definitely come back again because I’d like to try something off of their food menu.
The vibes and decor are so cool! It's like stepping into a past decade meets the current decade feel! I love the boxcar idea and the scenes that play as you're relaxing and enjoying your drink, convo, and apps. It's a small space, so it can get pretty loud, but isn't that the vibe and experience of a boxcar bar?!?! We tried the truffled tater tots, the chicken meatballs, which were very filling, and the caboose juice. I can't wait to return to try other drink and app options!

This place is actually way too small, we had to wait at the door for about 20 ish minutes waiting for people to leave. It was SUPER awkward, there's no hostess and it felt like we were bothering everyone by being there. It's just not at all welcoming. It makes no sense that they wouldn't do RSVPs because there's simply not enough seating to just let people walk in. We went for the Polar Express theme, it was okay. If you're bringing a fan of the movie or you are a fan, it wasn't really a detailed experience. The bar is cute, but for the theme it was really just the bar but with Christmas decorations. The themed cocktails are cute but "The Gingy" was actually kinda ehh and tasted like chemicals, the Tator Tots were yummy.
