Fantastic street taco got one of eat and love them all perfectly seasoned authentic Mexican food
Server took a while to notice that we had come in, but food was delicious and well priced.
The best mexican breakfast i have found authentic music and food is great and staff is wonderful always come back
Food is great and everyone who works there makes it feel like home.
Great quality food good prices friendly service.
Great food great people I highly recommend from George & Cynthia's SOULFOOD BBQ DENTON TEXAS
Always great tacos!!! Some of the best I've had, make sure to use the salsa they bring out.
Had the lunch special which was the spicy pork skin with green Chile. It was very good and will definitely go back if in the area.
Torta was spicyyy and the meat on it was very well seasoned and flavorful...not to mention it was the size of my face! No cons here :)
Great food at great prices! The owner is so sweet and nice to talk to while you're waiting.
Great food and very friendly service!! I can't believe I haven't been here before. I'll definitely be back!
It's a little place but its professional -You don't have to wait much for your food to arrive! -Good Music -Nice people
Best Mexican food in the area. And the family that owns it is so friendly. Service is great and it's clean.
Wonderful and delicious, full of flavor. Was thrilled to see they sell my favorite Snapple.
Fresh food delicious and the salsa hmm hmmm check this place out if you want a quick bite.
I've been a dozen times or so, the food is very good and prices fair.
Great food, good flavor and reasonable prices. Good portions and real Mexican food.
First time there in Denton. Food is delicious and hot. Customer service is great. Atmosphere warm and inviting. Recommend this place for some good Mexican food.
El Taco Rico is outstanding! It's a rare find in Denton with traditional Mexican food. It's full of flavor and authenticity. The tortas are truly huge! Great experience, I'll definitely come again. My only regret is not finding this place sooner!
Great food. Great people. A hidden gem in Denton. Large portion, good prices. Try the shrimp cocktail, any caldo, street tacos, tortas, Milanese plate. Truly a treat to taste buds.
The Macho Burrito is huge. It is murder weapon big. For the low price of $5.99, I could take what looks like a small tortilla-pillow and hit you with it, sending delicious beans, savory eggs, and a meat of your choice flying all over you and whatever's behind you. But it'd be better to eat it, because for $5.99, you're not likely to be as full as I am right now. I only wish I could give you photographic evidence of how big the Macho Burrito is, but I cannot, as I ate it before I thought to take a picture.
I went in to get a torta, and I was not disappointed it was massive and tasted great I almost wasn't able to finish it for sure I will go back to try some other items from their menu
Everything about this place screams authentic, blue collar, delicious food. I had the bistek and it was solid. Friendly staff.
Great service. Great food. I have tried the lengua and chicarron tacos and the pambazo. I have gotten this order 4 times now Everytime I go. Will keep coming back whenever I'm in the area. Authentic.
Best breakfast tacos in Denton, full stop. The eggs are so fluffy and perfectly cooked, the meat and potatoes are well seasoned and not over-powering. Rico is where it's at!
Went here for lunch. The food was delicious and fresh! Good amount of food, great value and awesome service!👍👍👍👍
I go here once or twice a week burritos and street tacos are awesome I know he's the best around you got to try them if you never been here
Definitely one of my favorite spots in Denton. Friendly, good service, and great food at a moderate price. Definitely recommend this place.
Have stopped by twice in the last year and always have the best Barbacoa I’ve found locally. Torta and street tacos are unbeatable.
The taco were amazing! The rice was a little dry but it probably just got the last of the pan before it was changed because everyone else said theirs was awesome. So I stole my daughters, and it was great! Can't wait to visit again!
They open at 8am !!! Finally had a chance to stop by and try them out....I got some breakfast tacos they were not big they were not small 2 tacos had my tummy satisfied they taste like home made tacos way better than gas station and fast good tacos I was given a green salsa which was also good it was a bit spicy just right ! Will definitely stop by again and try more items on the menu their prices are reasonable. Staff was ok restaurant looked decent . Had my order pretty quickly as well did not wait much ....
El Taco Rico (Where the tacos are rich, even if you aren't!). These people feed me and treat me nice. For me, the best tacos are their barbacoa de res and the chicken ones. So good! And they're super friendly. They only see me every three months on business trips, but they always remember me. I eat there every time I can!
Went here for the first time yesterday with a coworker, the tacos were amazing! I can't believe that you can get tacos this good for only $1.50 a piece. I recommend this place to anyone craving some tacos or Mexican food. I haven't eaten breakfast here yet but I've heard that its great too.
good chilaquiles verdes sauce to fried tortilla ratio was correct egg yolk was runny rice and beans were seasoned well walked out full as a 200 pound man
October 24, 2020 3:30 PM I had to give it a 5 star so my review could be seen. Honestly, worst tacos I’ve ever had, super dry & salty. Not to mention the customer service is TRASH. Only green salsa, which is not even good. Won’t ever be back again.
This place was great. The barbacoa tacos were excellent, overall a good experience. Service was fast and the food was cheap
Tasty food, and great prices on the tacos! Stop by and try them! Barbacoa, Pollo, Carnitas, all pair nicely with a Topo Chico.

A recent find, and unfamiliar with the menu, the proprietor made suggestions for me to get best value. Served with lime slices and an exciting sauce, the street tacos were terrific. I was very happy with my purchase. The atmosphere is what some might expect in traditional warm colors of Mexico with booths along the wall. As they open early (8 am), it’s convenient for breakfast, lunch and early dinner. I expect to be a regular.
Food was amazing, I had some of the best Menudo and Tacos and the man (who's name I didn't catch) but he was doing the cooking and doing the orders and he was so very nice! I think I found my new favorite local spot!
I was in a rush, so I asked the guy to make my barbecue tacos as fast as possible. He did!!! The food had a smoke your taste, and I was used to, but it was delicious and the cashier was very nice.
The food is great and good customer service ☺️
First time coming here, the front reception is bilingual and the order was made quickly but without any tradeoff on taste. Everything tasted excellent, love it! Breakfast tacos were delicious but only available from 8-12 so get them while you can. Definitely worth $1.50

Food was very good. Wish it was open later today so we could come back. Macho burrito was awesome!
Real deal food and friendly service. The only inconvenience is the location.
This place sells one of the best tacos that I've ever had since been in Texas the problem is is that they're not open long enough in the afternoon
Great service, large portions, and reasonably priced. Highly recommended for authenticate Mexican food aficionados.
My Menudo Hunt continues... So I am on this big Menudo mission. I've tried it in Kansas, Colorado, Missouri and Texas. This is my first place in Oklahoma and i would say it was about 3 stars. The tripe was a bit on the gelatinous side and lacked the chewy firmness I look forward too experiencing. The broth was flavorful and delicious. I'm just a big texture person so my hunt continues.
My first time going on Friday food was fresh very nice lady that gave me good portions of food the only thing I don’t like is that they never put veggies in the rice and the owner be over charging
Waited a while before someone helped us but aside from that very good chilaquiles are actually some of the best I’ve had at a restaurant taste very authentic
The tortas are really big and the bread is good. The music is also good. The service is slow but for one person running the front and the kitchen it is understandable. I had chicharron tacos and they were really good. Be patient the food is good.
Had a good lunch. Food was tasty and fast. Service was pleasant without hovering and constantly "how is everything". Was a little pricey but I guess everything is these days.
I came to this mid day Sunday for Menudo. The guy at the counter was not rude but not welcoming. I was the only one there. My order took a while. When I was finally served I was surprised at how tasty the Menudo was. It was spicy and delicious. It was a big plate but mostly soup very little meat and hominy but I really didn’t mind because it was really good. The guy asked me if I wanted more tortillas and asked me if I wanted something else…then disappeared in the back. Never saw him again . I will try this place one more time because if the rest of the menu is good, then I’ll make it my go to on Sundays.

A little over priced and the tacos are skimpy. Tase was ok I guess. I dont plan on going back.
Gotta fry your tenders crispy, or they will be raw!!! Please listen to me cook crispy. Good fries and Arnold palmer
I was at sonic next door...rico is ok though. Meat tastes boiled not seared in the asada and it has absolutely NO seasonings.
The food is good. It is authentic. However, the cost is high for what you get. Service is ok, but the people act like they just are ok if your there or not. They are not enthusiastic about customers coming. We will not be back - we like Tex-mex better and we thought it was too expensive.
Had a potato/egg/cheese taco and a bean and cheese taco. Kinda bland. Tortillas weren't light and fluffy, tasted like store-bought. Nice staff though.
I ordered Menudo, it was ok. Kind of thin broth, not as flavorful either in richness or deep chili taste as I get at other places. I'll try their street tacos next time. Update: Street tacos are good, especially with some of their spicy red salsa. I had lengua and al pastor. Nice lunch.
I gave 3 stars and here is why Customer Greeting 4* Employee Cleanliness 5* Restaurant Cleanliness & Appearance 2* Food Presentation 5* Ordering Accomodations 5* Food serving speed 5* Food Flavoring 2* Overall Taste 2* Cost 2* Beverage Options 2* Upon arrival I was promptly greeted, I was the only customer at the time. The employee wasn't interested in small talk since he was the only one working. I came in during breakfast hours and was able to order lunch at this time as well. I chose the Enchiladas Verde with rice and beans. Taco Rico doesn't offer fountain drinks which I didn't realize until after I ordered my food. While waiting for my food and observing the restaurant I noticed that the employee was constantly keeping his hands clean which is good since he licks his fingers to grab plastic to go bags. Additionally while I was waiting other employees arrived and both washed thier hands before making food preparations. The restaurant however doesn't appear as clean. The walls are missing paint and are extremely dirty with food and beverage still embedded on them. After getting my food I was surprised to see a good portion of food. I cut into the enchiladas and was unexpectedly disappointed. There was absolutely no flavor to the chicken. It's like they were boiled and that's it. The only flavor came from the Verde sauce and it was quite spicy to say the least. I've had lots of Verde sauce and this was my first experience with spicy sauce. It's usually a rather sweet sauce with low heat. This was completely opposite, lots of heat and low sweet. Not saying it was bad as I like spicy, but unexpected. The rice had a hint chocolate flavor that I'm guessing is coming from the peas. The beans weren't anything to speak of just regular in my opinion. Overall I think it's just regular ole Mexican food, nothing sets this food apart from the others that makes it great other than it's the only Mexican Restaurant in close proximity to Discount.
I just stop by over here after reading the review of other people.. I came in to have some street tacos... The guy behind the counter was not that friendly and when I ordered he didn't even asked if you wanted it on corn tortilla or flour tortillas?.I got two tacos at first to try it, how's the taste was going to be, before I spend more money in it.well, the taco was good but a little greasy and the salsa verde was a watery..u can not taste any spice of Salsa. so this is what you see in the pic.. I have the taco, cilantros, onions and the salsa on top of it.

First and last time I go there. Took about 20 minutes to make me 4 tacos. I asked for no onions but they served more onions and cilantro than meat. Not good
The food was ok. The guy was rude. If you go just dont touch anything even the candy. I was trying to see what one of the candies were and he didnt like that.
They microwaved the food. The amount of meat or it's a in the breakfast tacos was very slim.
I feel terrible for giving this place two stars. There was a man behind the register, I'm guessing he's the owner. On a hot afternoon the place is nearly empty. I can tell that the man was trying hard to get us to stay. Unfortunately I only have a couple of good things to say about his restaurant: 1. The size of the torta that I ordered was more than enough. Honestly, that thing was huge. It could feed a grown man well. 2. They sell coke zero and other coke products. 3. They bring you your food, participate in doordash, and include green or red salsa. 4. Aside for the drinks, everything else is served in plates, and cutlery is provided. There's nothing disposable, unless you want to ask for to go boxes. I would recommend bringing in your own drink. If you're environmentally friendly like me, this is good. I support businesses that do this. 5. The bread that they use for their dishes that contain bread is delicious! Honestly, I would go back just to buy bread for them. I think the man used naan bread instead. It was soft and buttery, it was delicious. Now the bad parts: 1. The prices are not stated upfront. You have to ask what's included and what's not included. For an introvert person, this is a deal breaker. The man behind the register acted tough, not friendly. He sort of gave this "don't mess with me" type of attitude. The goal is to bring in loyal customers, not scare them with your attitude. 2. The taco meats need more sazón. More spice or something, some salsa added to the meat. It was bland. It's your average taco that you can make at home, but for $1.50. Place the tortilla in a comal or dip it in oil, give it some flavor. 3. They don't serve fountain drinks. By the looks of it, there were problems previously with the owner charging for refills? He completely took off the refills. For a person like me, that's a bummer. I don't like buying plastic bottles or contributing to anything plastic, but I was basically forced to buy a plastic container. 4. The music taste isn't my taste. It's loud Mexican music. I would recommend installing a tv instead and leaving it on a channel like the news. I don't know, if the restaurant is nearly empty, why blast loud music? 5. They definitely need more marketing, a new chef, fountain drinks, and a friendly cashier person. If they follow though with this, I can guarantee more business.
It's sad to say I think this Cook has lost his passion for his restaurant. I'm giving this place two stars because he got out of bed and made a day out of it. Also the rice and beans were not half bad. Food is bland and his customer service is horrible.
Not too sure why this place has a high rating. Food is bland and not good. I am Hispanic and know the difference of Mexican food, tex-mex, and spanlish food. Salsa was ok. Chips were stale. I order cheese enchildas and was sadly dissappointed. I will not be returning anytime soon.
The food is ok, not that good the tortas are big but they don’t put enough meat, the meat tastes like recooked and the thing I didn’t like is that they charged for refills that throw me off that’s just not professional
I used to buy Barbacoa by the pound here all the time and it's was amazing well I went in today and order some took it home opened the box and immediately could tell something was different. It just smelled different and looked different like not the same meat so I taste it and for some reason it tastes like it's been soaked in soap it reminded me of cussing in front of my mom and getting my mouth washed out with a bar of soap. Unfortunately 1lb of Barbacoa is now in the trash and I have to find a new place to buy it.

Foods good but the owner is not so good with customer service. Won’t be back.
Rude guy behind the counter, first and last time going there, food was flavorless and not worth the price.
The Carne Asada plate comes with a kid sized steak and they forgot my avocado in the picture
Street Tacos were not good. It was not seasoned and was very dry
This place has the worst customer service ever and the food is horrible. I had stomachache for 2 days after eating the food. Never buying from there again. The owner has terrible customer service skills
THE WORST CUSTOMER TREATMENT BY THE OWNER HIMSELF, I CAN'T BELIEVE HOW RUDE AND BAD CHARACTER THE OWNER OF THIS PLACE HAS, HE DOESN'T ANSWER QUESTIONS ABOUT THE MENU, AND IS ANGRY AND RUDE, NOW I UNDERSTAND ALL THE BAD COMMENTS ABOUT THIS PLACE DEFINITELY I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE, WHAT A BAD WAY THE OWNER HAS TO SERVE HIM, DO NOT CONFRONT HIM OUT OF RESPECT FOR MY SON, IF IT WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ANOTHER STORY, WE BUY 3 TORTAS AND IN TRUTH IT WAS MORE BREAD THAN MEAT, REALLY VERY MISERABLE AND ALSO I ASKED HIM SALSAS BECAUSE HE DIDN'T GIVE ME AND I THINK HE WAS ANNOYED, I REALLY NEVER RETURNED TO THIS HORRIBLE PLACE, THEY HAD ALREADY TOLD ME THAT THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS AWFUL.
Food tasted like it was boiled it had no flavor at all, it almost tasted like water, i did not eat it went to buy food somewhere else, i could tell people there wasn't happy either everyone was looking for salt .
I went to this place a while back and never returned, in fact, I will neverrrr! The food was horrible! I didn’t even think they were still in business.
I only tried the bean and cheese but it tasted like store bought beans and tortillas. There are definitely ways better options in Texas.
Placed a to go order over the phone for a quick in and out, guy told me it would be 10 minutes. I get there and 25 minutes later it's finally done.
I brought my workers here and they were treated terribly. The food had no flavor and the customer service was terrible.
The owner seems like he's always in a bad mood. The tacos were tiny and barely had any taste, let alone any meat in general. No fountain drinks. Loud music. Don't waste your time here.
Absolutely nothing “rico” about this place. I ordered 4 tacos from this place and was completely blown on how the dry everything was. Starting with the lettuce, barely any onions, dry tortillas and non flavored meat. That’s not authentic Mexican food! Also, I ordered a flan, The flan itself tasted nothing like a flan, dry and huge block of it. They added wip cream to add flavor but poorly executed as the gave me the flan upside down in a plastic to go box 🤦🏽♂️ Im Mexican I gotta say I was highly disappointed. Ahorre su dinero y vaya a otro lugar. Oh and P.S the aguas frescas are like the tacos. Not so good
The customer service was horrible the man working there was looking/acting like he was mad at the world. We got glassed bottled coco colas and they were flat we told him they were flat and can we get something else and he made us feel stupid saying “did you open them?” Like duhhh I opened it and it was FLAT but he didn’t budge and then finally we got our food and it looked like a child’s plate with super small portions and the rice beans and tacos looked good but didn’t taste like anything we ended up leaving without a refund we couldn’t even finish our food . If you know real Mexican food and you know the taste and flavors DO NOT TRY this place its not worth the money. we had this experience within 20 mins of being in this restaurant that’s sad .
I gave them 1 star because there is no option for zero!!! Portions of rice and beans (they were cold btw) loos like they were for kids meals! My chile relleno was also cold and it looks like it was cooked many days ago! Service? This guy acted like he was giving us free food. Zero manners!
my boyfriend and i got a taco plate, and the owner seemed annoyed when we asked to add a taco. the tacos were ok, the rice was bland but the beans were spoiled!!
It’s disgusting food does not taste like any thing and over priced they had flat soda and the owner would not exchange it . We left our food behind didn’t even eat it and we googled Mexican restaurants and found one nearby in a Valero gas station on mayhil and they were awesome and tasty we have been going there ever since .
Worst chile relleno ive seen or had. Cheese was a spongecake. Beans were filled with water, and they forgot a portion of my order to boot. Disappointment in a styrofoam box.
the gentleman was nice and got my order right but the taste of the food was not good at all am sorry but those tortillas were the worst I was expecting homemade tortillas this was the first and last time coming here
I did not visit this place yesterday, but a long time ago,our friend and her brother brought some street tacos. They didn't have any taste to them! And from what I read about the negative reviews about this place, I read that the place seems a little unhygienic--there were roaches there, somebody got sick, the owner is not friendly--I don't want to go to a place where I'm not welcomed-and I don't want to eat their food if it doesn't have any taste, or is not any good!! So I didn't visit this place recently.
First time and also last time eating here! I ordered the fish fillet plate fish had no salt it was so bland tortillas had a chemical taste to the almost as if they spilt some sort of perfume on them beans had the same exact chemical taste rice had no flavor i also ordered the pambazo it barely had any potato and chorizo in it i wish i would have had a pleasant moment I reccomend you go elsewhere instead of here
Absolutely abhorrent service. Not only did the single worker in the while store mess up our order, he forgot a plate, and forgot the tortillas that are supposed to come with the plate, he also decided to stare me down like he wanted to fight me after I walked out. This place is a disgrace to any Spanish culture, not to mention the barbacoa was clearly frozen before. I'd give it 0 stars if I could. What Spanish restaurant doesn't have breakfast barbacoa tacos?? No, you have to pay 6$ for 3 "street" tacos, when a much better street vendor charges 7$ for 5. This place is a joke.
THIS PLACE IS A JOKE! I would rate 0 stars if I could. The lone person cashier/cook/waiter is not friendly at all. The tacos we order not good and the sope was okay. The salsas were watered down. My wife order an agua fresca and the guy said it would be hot b/c it was boiling - agua frescas are cool drinks. Yet, this jerk gave my wife hot agua fresca. We asked for a cup with ice and he said he couldn’t b/c he is cheaping out on stuff. THIS PLACE NEEDS TO CLOSE ASAP! Bad service, worst food and I’m NEVER COMING BACK! Save yourself the disappointment and $$ - go to Taqueria Guanajuato 5 mins. down on McKinney towards Denton County courthouse.
So sad and really disappointing. I was overcharged by $7 - I let it go because it's a small business but wow it was bad. Nothing about my order was correct - not the items or meat. The owner did not speak to me other than to give me my order total ? And he literally started turning of the music and gave me my order Togo. I guess it was close to closing. They were out of salsa and the food was so dry it was inedible. I really wanted to like this place :( Update - I also have food poisoning now from the couple bites I had. I’ve never gotten sick from a restaurant before but I most definitely won’t be going back. I genuinely don’t understand the positive reviews. The food and experience was so bad.

TERRIBLE OWNERSHIP. I purchased a burrito and a bottle of coca cola, even gave owner a tip. I took of sip of the coke and it was flat. I asked nicely for a new one and he refused. So I asked for a refund for my drink and he refused that as well. I was so insulted because I've been in the food industry for 17 years, and if there is an issue with a soft drink, its the businesses responsibility to control their inventory. He wanted me to call coke cola to get it resolved. That is something between the business and vendor. So I asked for a refund on my whole order.. which I hadn't touched the burrito yet, and he still wouldn't refund me anything. I guess I should've read the comments first because other people had issues with their orders and getting refunds. That's the first and last time I ever go here again.
The name has nothing to do with reality! ☹️ Completely waste of time and money Meat (beef and chicken) is super dry, chewy and flavorless this guys need to change their product quality for real No surprise this place was alone
Sorry for making this claim, but it has to be true to my heart. I went in there and I had to wait for two or three minutes just to get greeted I ordered my food and I was like this is a very good price. I got my food before I got my food. I had to wait for a while as well and then when I got my food, I said thank you so much and have a good day. I got home. I open my box. My food was all scattered, and then I saw food and it was cheap because they’re serving very little portions of it the meat was dry. They put so much onion, less cilantro. Two hours later, my stomach started hurting. I will never come back.
This place sold my boyfriend slimy ingredients. The menudo was creamy and the meat was very slimy and way too spicy. We asked a refund bc slimy cow stomach is NOT okay to eat. The owner refused to give a refund and now we will never go back.
The cashier was prompt and nice, but the food was not when the fajita tacos and Al pastor tacos taste the same( blend and burnt) then you got a problem. Beans were okay but the rice was sticky and hint of lime taste to them idk. Maybe I'll try on a different day.
When you first walk in this restaurant it smells like they have plumbing problems. However I chumped it up to it being an older place. I ordered the taco plate with rice and beans 2 steak and chicken tacos. One look at the beans, I could tell something was off bc they were extremely watery. The steak( or should I say beef) as well as the chicken was tasteless. I could not even swallow the food bc it tasted like expired food mixed with new food. Total cross contamination. Therefore I threw the entire plate in the 711 trash can down the street. They should be shut down. I don't even understand who is giving this restaurant a passing Grade. Clearly fake reviews. I don't even think they deserve a 1 honestly..
Hate to do this but the pozole I got was very non authentic. And the amount of hominy and chicken I had was a very small portion. It was 90% soup and 10 percent hominy and chicken. The chicken was overcooked and chewy.
The name has nothing to do with reality! ☹️ Completely waste of time and money Meat (beef and chicken) is super dry, chewy and flavorless this guys need to change their product quality for real No surprise this place was alone
