Opiniones de Mizuna Denver
Great experience at Mizuna, lived up to expectations I heard all about. Tasting menu was excellent, I didn't have to make any decisions and all the courses were delicious.
This was my first time at this style of establishment, and I am absolutely blown away. The bold, rich flavors kept me constantly thinking, trying to process everything I was enjoying. From the kind staff, to the comfortable environment, to the visual presentation of the dishes made this meal very special. I highly recommend planning a nice night out if you are a fan of fantastic food. I personally had the Oak Smoked Hudson Valley Duck, and it was beautifully moist and full of flavor (and I have never had duck up to this point). Will definitely need to visit Mizuna's again in the future. Thank you to all the waitstaff, chefs, and back of house for making this evening very special for my wife and I.
We loved Mizuna! We were celebrating a special occasion and Mizuna celebrated with us by greeting us with complementary champagne. The food variety matched all of our tastes and I got to try Beef Wellington for the first time! All courses were spectacular and the special touch at the end was a free box of cookies and muffins and a box of chocolates! If you’re looking for friendly service and amazing food for your next special occasion then I highly recommend Mizuna!
My husband booked a reservation here for my birthday. What a wonderful experience from the moment we arrived until we left. As soon as we got there, the maitre d wished me a happy birthday, and then we were shown to a cozy booth where a card was waiting with a happy birthday wish signed by the staff. We received the most attentive amazing service from our waiter, Addison. The food and drinks were exquisite in presentation and flavor. Chef Michael Dunning's recipe modifications to accommodate my dietary issues with dairy were exceptional. It was an honor to have him come to our table and sign my menu. I have to say that this was the most wonderful birthday dinner out that I have ever experienced.
We had a wonderful dinner at Mizuna last week. The first bite of the pork belly, heirloom tomato and smoked mozzerella was perfect for any “BLT” fan. Shout out to Chef Michael. The Cacio Pepe Risotto and Lobster Mac & Cheese were outstanding. But how beautiful are these desserts! They tasted as good as they looked.
We had a great time at Mizuna! We did the tasting menu with the wine pairing - definitely a splurge cost-wise but worth it for the food and the wonderful service. We were nervous about the "blind" nature - not knowing what you're gonna get next - but every course tasted incredible and the wine pairings were excellent. Also, they are more than happy to make sure that you get a taste of another item listed on the menu to be sure you don't miss out. We asked for one course to be the Beef Wellington (highly endorsed by the waiter) and they swapped it into the normal tasting menu so we could try it! What we really appreciated were all the unannounced special touches - extra pours of wines we liked, surprise extra dishes, and to-go treats. The staff went above and beyond to customize out night and make it special. This isn't a mass-produced tasting menu experience like you may have had elsewhere. We highly recommend anyone in the Denver area gives Mizuna a try! They even have their own cookbook available if you want to read about their techniques.
Simply one of the best experiences you can ever get in Denver. The Beef Wellington is exceptional, the dishes served are perfectly timed. Even the desserts are perfectly made, nothing is too sweet. Famous chefs including Anthony Bourdain recommended Mizuna and you won’t be disappointed. Simply elite
My boyfriend and I were treated to a dinner at Mizuna and absolutely loved every second of our experience. From the moment we entered the restaurant we were made to feel special, important, and like our business mattered. The real treat, though, was the food. You can tell that care, precision, and passion is put into every dish at Mizuna, matched with perfect wine pairings to make it an even better experience. My boyfriend is a chef and I am a teacher, so it was a treat for us to experience a fine dining experience like this one. We highly recommend Mizuna!
It's small, but it packs a punch. The food was just amazing. We had the chefs menu and it was one of the best waygu steak I've eaten. Individually calling out everything we ate that evening will make the list too long, but everything was just delicious. The service was exemplary and the wine selection was spectacular. They had this amazing palette cleanser that was just superb. It's the first time I was being served a cleanser during a meal. I've had it during wine tastings, but not at a meal. Will I visit again, for sure! A highly recommended place for a special occasion.
One of the top restaurants in Denver. The tasting menu is very good. Only critical comment on the food is that of our 7 dishes, there was no beef or lamb. We had paired wine tasting, but it was not always clear which wine paired with which food; and we found that one wine actually clashed with the next dish which was served while we still had wine from the previous dish. Our table was not the best; in a busy walkway. Still, the food was top notch.
We came for the Welly Wednesday experience to celebrate my birthday, and it completely exceeded our expectations. From start to finish, the service was warm, attentive, and top-notch. The meal itself was hands down the best we’ve both had in a long time — every bite was incredible. We’re already highly recommending this place to everyone we know.
The service tonight was exceptional! Everyone, from host, our waiter, bartender and sommelier were so knowledgeable and made us feel at home. Chef’s tasting menu is totally worth every penny! We got 11 courses, including Beef Wellington, and were so full we barely finished. Can’t wait to go back!
I was so excited to come in here while I was in town for a show. The menu is incredible and I love the seasonality of their dishes. Unfortunately something from early in the day was not sitting well with me and I had to leave almost right after I got my first course. The staff was so amazing and understanding and said they could premake the rest of my meal to take back and eat later. They even gave me another bag with some delicious baked goods for later. I had ordered the three course tasting menu but was given several tastes from the kitchen that were absolutely delightful. The Dungeness crab with trout roe and local asparagus two ways was my favorite. I plan to come back here again soon to properly enjoy this gem of a place.
We had the most amazing culinary experience with exceptional service from sever Caitlin S. and a wonderful wine pairing by the sommelier. We chose the 9 course chef’s sampler along with the pairing of 7 wines. This was a great way to experience the chef’s dishes and to experience a variety of dishes. Each course were delicious, presentation was exquisite, and service was fantastic. Highly recommend!
Chose this legendary Denver staple to celebrate my anniversary and it was definitely the right choice. A slow night there so we had all the service haha. We sat at the bar to have a view of the kitchen and we had the greatest time. Our bartender for the evening Nate, was incredible. Polite, professional, kind and funny. Gave a great suggestion on caviar for our first time and we loved it! We are the Chef’s Menu and had the best food from start to finish. My favorite had to be the pasta dish. So many levels of flavor , I could have had 7 courses of just that. The chefs even checked in with us! I find it hard having good dessert in Colorado restaurants these days unless they’re known for it, but the dessert here was phenomenal! Everything was a complete win. Can’t wait to come back. They even gave us a signed card; how kind is that?! Thank you again to Nate and the entire team for making our night special . Thank god Frank Bonanno and Mizuna exist.
A great fine dining experience! There is no à la carte menu here, you go with the 3 or 5 course menu. We thought the 3 course was more than enough per person since there were a few extra freebie surprises we received as well. The resto is fairly small so would recommend to reserve in advance, they also have outdoor seating available. The inside is cozy, candle lit style. The service was amazing! Even the bartender came to our table to help us decide what to drink. The 3 course is an appetizer, a main, and dessert. They gave us an amuses-Bouche app to start, then another app, then fennel bread, and then we got our main appetizer. After the main, they gave us a dessert on the house before our dessert. After the dessert, the owner gave us a dessert goodie bag with chocolates, cookies, muffins. I’ve never been to a resto that gave so many extras without indication. We felt like special guests at this restaurant and would highly recommend! The menu changes regularly, but we enjoyed the beef tartare best, and the watermelon salad. The ice cream trio for dessert had unique flavours that we enjoyed .
Wonderful experience! Very attentive service, food presentation often so beautiful I didnt want to eat. Complex and flavorful. Fresh ingredients some from the chefs garden.
Upon learning we'd be in Denver, we quickly made a reservation for Mizuna. This place is warm and inviting and you can see the kitchen as soon as you enter. We settled on doing the tasting menu, but were weary as one of the guests in our party is a pescatarian. Our waiter promptly asked the kitchen if they'd be able to accommodate, and they agreed. Since the tasting menu is some what a surprise (you're told it's six courses with two amuse-bouche, one pasta, one seafood, one meat, and one dessert), we did opt to order additional items. One of my favorites was the foie gras ice cream. Beautifully rich and delicious. Another one of my favorites was definitely the venison. The sommelier was fantastic and gave us a great recommendation on a bottle of wine. We also received a lovely parting gift after the dinner was done. We were the last ones in the restaurant, but never felt rushed at all. Definitely worth a try if you're ever in the area!
This place was lovely. We ordered the three course meal and loved all of the little tastings in between they surprise you with. Not pictured is a peach kombucha that was perfection, popcorn and horchata, and a fennel role. They also sent us home with chocolates and cookies, coffee, and donuts for the morning. If you're looking for a fun experience and masterful food, try it out!
For my mother’s 94th birthday, I chose Mizuna, a venue she had enjoyed years ago and was excited to return. From the chef, to the wait staff, they made my mother feel so special. The appetizers were altered for her palette, the fresh peach salad was a seasonal favorite and the sea bass was so fresh and delicious. To top off the evening, the chef prepared a lemon meringue mini pie complete with a candle along with homemade treats to take home. I would highly recommend this intimate spot for any special occasion or evening enjoyment. The service was impeccable as well.
Decided to celebrate our anniversary here. Went with the chefs tasting menu & a bottle of wine. What a great experience. Staff was great, everyone was really friendly. The food was incredible. Would highly recommend
This restaurant is incredible and I feel like should have a Michelin star awarded to it. Everything we ate was outstanding and this restaurant has an incredible aptitude to cater meals to the customer. If you have any sort of dietary restrictions you will still find a superb meal waiting for you here. The service was great, the atmosphere sophisticated and alluring. I highly recommend coming here. This isn’t a place to simply eat food at, it’s a place where you go to have an experience and truly enjoy food and the company you bring.
Impeccable. Service, taste, presentation and professionalism that deserves a Star. The bartender learned my name and said it throughout service, the Lobster mac n cheese was unreal, the Wellington was amazing, and the chocolate cake was to die for. Highly recommend. *Welly Wednesday* for the prix fixe deal! Get it!
Unforgettable One-Year Wedding Anniversary – 5+ Stars!!!!!!! :))))) We celebrated our one-year wedding anniversary here, and it was hands down one of the best meals of our lives! We love splurging on fine dining for special occasions, and this was truly an unforgettable experience from start to finish. We highly recommend sitting at the bar—our bartender Adam was absolutely phenomenal! He made our night feel extra special with his incredible service, great conversation, and next-level cocktails. Every drink was perfectly crafted. We did both the Chef’s and Coastal Tasting Menus with one wine pairing, and every dish was a masterpiece. The flavors, presentation, and pacing were flawless. You will not be disappointed! If you’re celebrating something special or just love exceptional food and service, this spot is a must. Treat yourself—you’ll thank me later! JUST DO IT!!!!!! SO SO DELICIOUS!!!!
Went on “Welly Wednesday” with my boyfriend to celebrate our anniversary and they blew us away. The Welly Wednesday was a 3 course meal, appetizer, entree, and dessert. We were served 6 courses in total, all the mentioned above plus a flute of champagne, zucchini bread slice, a dinner roll, and a pre-dessert flight. All the food was AMAZING. I really felt so special and the place felt so elegant and intentional. Staff was so welcoming and warm, very sweet people, and they all signed a card to congratulate us on our anniversary! This place is a must stop if you’re in Denver. If you’re familiar with the Hulu series “The Bear”, those are the vibes this place gives, without all the commotion in kitchen. Can’t recommend more.
If you're into chefs tasting menu, this is a must! We shared the chefs and the coastal tasting and the food was delicious, service was fantastic, and Raphael the sommelier really took the experience to another level - so really recommend you get the wine pairing 👌 Can't wait to go back!
Dined at Mizuna with my wife for my birthday and it was nothing short of spectacular. We did the chefs tasting menu and every dish was perfection. Plus the staff are wonderful and made this a very memorable and fun experience. Highly recommend this Denver staple - it will exceed expectations!
Went to Mizuna for a birthday dinner and it was such a wonderful experience. The waitstaff and chefs all wished me a happy birthday as soon as I came in, and the service didn’t stop there. My boyfriend is vegan (I was there for the Welly Wednesday) and they created a full 5 course meal for him to accompany my welly Wednesday 5 course! He didn’t even have to order, they just told him that he didnt need to worry about it, that they got him. Truly cannot wait to revisit this magical place, one of the best meals of my life so far
Incredible experience start to finish! Only able to have an experience like this occasionally. However when that occasion arrives I will be returning here! Every person we encountered that evening was absolutely wonderful. We were lucky enough to have a seat at the bar and that may be the best seats in the house. The food is beyond incredible in so many ways but make sure not to sleep on the drinks. There is too much to say for one little post, can't wait to go back!
I had a great time celebrating my birthday here. 1-star people are so so out of their minds. Leave that for Denny's or who knows what. Everyone was so attentive to details, from the host to the sommelier. My belly was full with delicious food and was treated to really great wine. I've eaten at nice restaurants and this one was my favorite. Will come back! Much love, Regina and Sam.
I had a life changing dining experience on May 22nd. I was seated at the bar where Adam was my mixologist and server. He is incredible. Adam is an artist with cocktails, mock-tails, and ingredients. He was warm and welcoming, great energy and attention! He made my night. I highly recommend sitting at his bar, even if you don’t drink. Aside from Adam being an absolute rockstar at the bar, all of the staff were friendly and helpful. Even the chef came out to say thanks! I felt like I was in a movie. This place was running so smooth which created a relaxed yet upbeat atmosphere. I had the best meal of my life. I ordered the coastal tasting which was a total of 10 dishes! Each one blew me away. I’ll never look at seafood or cheesecake the same way again. I felt like I was smiling the entire time. Great place to unwind, bring a date, or treat yourself to something truly decedent.
This was an amazing night! We found out at the last minute about an event at Mizuna with guest chef Richard Sandoval. We couldn’t get in, no surprise, so decided to try the restaurant the next night with some friends. So glad we did! The ambiance is perfect for enjoying conversation, with good music at a low level in the background. Raphael, the sommelier and the primary person taking care of us, was friendly, knowledgeable, and had great suggestions. He helped make the night fun. The cocktails were fabulous, very creative and the best I’ve had in a very long time. The Tai Chi, a winter version of a Mai Tai, was thoroughly enjoyed by some in our party, while I had the best Cosmopolitan I’ve ever had. It perfectly balanced sweet and sour with the cranberry and orange liqueurs. We all had the Chef’s tasting menu. This is a marathon, not a sprint, with a first bite and then 10 tastes. Some were a unique take on a common dish, and others were creative innovations. My favorites were the first bite - pork belly with a caramelized heirloom tomato and smoked mozzarella - a unique BLT; the seared scallop - a new take on clam chowder; the 48 hour braised short rib; and the toasted pistachio gateau with caramel tuile, brown butter gelato, and strawberry chocolate. Having a nice Bordeaux during the latter part of the tasting and a Ruby Port to finish, it was a magical night. Was it expensive? Of course it was. Also worth it, in my opinion. The service was outstanding, with every person who brought something to the table, and there were many delivering different parts of the meal, taking the time to be friendly while also bussing the table. Last night was the experience that should be expected at a restaurant like this.
Worth the fine dining dinner date. Perfect portions and every dish was excellent while the service perfectly matched that. I had my first beef wellington here, and I’m so glad I chose Mizuna for the experience.
Absolutely amazing food and service! Did the $45 AYC drink wine and eat popcorn plus some small bites. Also got the crudo and tartare. Everything was so delicious and the wines were quite nice. The popcorn of the day used Old Bay seasoning and I couldn’t have been happier! Shout out to Adam and Tim for their amazing service as well. We will be back!
My husband and I were completely blown away by the food, service and experience at Mizuna. Every person working in the restaurant was knowledgeable and friendly, plus went the extra mile. The restaurant setting feels very much like you are in someones dining room, cozy and warm. We will definitely be back soon! Some of the best service we have ever received in Denver!!
The food was excellent as was the service and atmosphere. Like other great fine dining places, Mizuna was generous with the amount and variety of food and we left very full and happy.
Truly excellent. If I wasn’t so pleasantly full as the meal ended, I could’ve done the exact same meal again then and there. Perfect beef Wellington. The chocolate cake made me grin like a fool. Every single thing was delicious. A meal at Mizuna is absolutely worth it.
Absolutely outstanding. My wife and I do a fine dining night every few months, and Mizuna just blew the last few years out of the water. Every dish was excellent, but the surprise standout was the vinaigrette on the salad. It’s wild how much a simple course can make your taste buds go wow. The scallops, Jerry rolls, quail and everything were all phenomenal. We sat at the bar and had a blast chatting with Adam, who made the experience even more fun. Perfect service, warm atmosphere, and flawless execution across the board. Worth every penny.
My partner and I celebrated Valentine's Day a little early here and had an absolutely amazing time. Natalie took great care of us, would highly recommend
We didn’t know what to expect when we made this reservation as our granddaughter was celebrating her 21st birthday & was requesting Beef Wellington & a good cocktail. I had researched who had Beef Wellington & Mizuna came up as number one in all of Denver time after time. From the minute we walked in, the service was impeccable. We felt like we were the only ones being served the entire time. The food was absolutely amazing. We chose to do the Three Course meal, each of us ordering different entrees & appetizers & we we were all extremely happy with our choices. The desserts were all decadent! The meals actually turned out to be, if we counted right, at least eight courses. Our granddaughter was treated like a queen with so much special attention and enjoyed the cocktails immensely! We highly recommend Mizuna and we will be back to enjoy your delicious food and hospitality again. I know my granddaughter is already planning on visiting on one of your “Wellington Wednesday “ nights with a special friend. Thank you for making our night so special!
We had a wonderful evening at Mizuna, every part of it was outstanding. The food is high quality, creative and delicious. I had the coastal tasting menu, my husband the chef's tasting menu and it was phenomenal, some of the best bites we've ever had. Adam the bartender is amazing, you have to try his cocktails - alcoholic and non-alcoholic alike. The servers were great, the ambiance pleasant and inviting. All around an amazing experience.
Our original plans to walk in to another local restaurant were thwarted by a long wait time — and we were warmly welcomed to Mizuna. The hostess was gracious and professional, both over the phone and in person — and we were happy to be seated at the bar. While there, we enjoyed the company of Adam, the bartender who was both unpretentious and knowledgeable — and clearly took pride in his work. My dear friend and I — both veterans of the food and wine industry — were seeking relief, comfort, and a mellow but lively setting to catch up over a drink and an appetizer. We both felt nurtured and valued — being served an amuse bouche, outstanding bread service, three appetizers . . . a complimentary dessert, and boxes of pastries to enjoy at home. The sommelier, Raphael, and Adam both went out of their way to share items of interest to my friend, a wine professional. In a world where many are at each other’s throats, and where mediocrity often rises to the top — our experience with the passionate and congenial professionals at Mizuna was refreshing. The staff at Mizuna manage to create an atmosphere and style of service that is formal and familiar at the same time. We are both so appreciative.
What a phenomenal experience my husband and I had tonight! First off I should say we have never experienced a dining experience like this before and we were not sure what to expect, but we were blown away from start to finish! As we first walked into the restaurant we were greeted with a huge smile and warm welcoming from the host Lana, who kindly sat us at our table. Immediately as we were sat we were greeted by Adam the bartender with a glass of champagne! I mentioned I was pregnant and couldn’t not drink and he immediately apologized and offered me a sparkling nonalcoholic champagne. My husband also ordered a cocktail and Adam was very thoughtful and made me a mocktail (actually 2 different ones) both were absolutely delicious. After we were settled in that’s where the fun began. The Head chef Michael came to the table and introduced himself and explained the menu along with asking us if we had any dietary restrictions, or didn’t like anything specifically. We ended up going with the Chefs tasting menu to get the full experience. Each course was brought out by the Head chef or a staff member and was explained to us in detail of how he came about the dish itself along with how it was made and the ingredients. From the mini plates to the main course to the mini dessert to the main dessert everything was made with passion and love for food! My husband and myself are both very blown away from this whole experience and very grateful for the way the staff and the entire team worked together to make this an unforgettable experience that will never be forgotten!
I had the absolute BEST milestone birthday celebration at Mizuna last Saturday night! We did the Coastal Tasting with a Sommelier wine pairing for 20 and it was extraordinary. The food was amazing, the wine was fantastic, and the service was exceptional. What an incredibly special evening. I will definitely be back for other big celebrations!
The service and overall experience was top notch. Many little mindful bites, tastes, and pallet cleansers in between the main courses that were interesting. We were also greeted with Champaign, which was a nice touch. Great staff, and cozy/elegant little restaurant. I will be completely honest though, me and my partner did not really love most of the food. It wasn’t bad - we just felt that both our main dishes were absent of umami and complex flavor that some of the other tastes had. I did like the steak tartare. The sauce that was poured over the black cod and noodles was extremely oily and bland and might have been what ruined the dish for us. Same with the duck in some ways. The sauce was extremely bland so the duck tasted a bit more gamey than expected. The micro greens were just steamed with no oil/seasoning on them. And the mixed hash brown that was served with the duck was extremely dry and stringy. All around good experience though and would still recommend it. Maybe it’s just the current menu that didn’t vibe with us.
The food was good, but nowhere near the quality I’d expect at that price point. I’d go back 1-2x per year. But now I’m reading that the enforced 22% gratuity isn’t even being properly distributed to the staff. So now I feel id need to tip another 20% to feel good about properly supporting the staff. 42% tip on top of good but overpriced food? This “concept” isn’t working. Which I guess is why there were only eight people eating there tonight.
To preface, I’m sad to write this review, but Mizuna was a big, expensive disappointment. If they had charged us half of what we got charged, this would be a 4.5 star place. For a $700 dinner tab though, this place barely - warrants 2.5 stars. Good things we liked -everyone was really nice and attentive; even the chefs greeted us when we came in and when we left -the ambiance is great, it’s super romantic -the menu seemed interesting and creative -the server did ask the kitchen when I brought up my allergic reactions -my partner liked the beef tartare and the scallop -the duck was good and cooked perfectly but, not the best I’ve had in Denver Here’s my list of grievances: -tablecloth was dirty when we sat down -I have allergies and had reactions from multiple dishes- I asked during the meal “does this have my allergy food in it?” And each time was told no -I left untouched dishes on the table or slid them over to my partner for this “tasting menu” option; only once did the server ask if something was wrong when she saw me do that, only she didn’t ask out of concern, she asked because she never wrote anything down and “thought I wanted beef tartare” when in fact it was my partner who requested that specific plate -yeah the no writing anything down for a $700 meal service is pretty bananas to me; esp when the guest indicates allergies in the PAID RESERVATION -the wine was a complete miss - not one of their wines on the “sommelier tasting menu” was worth it (although my partner disagrees and thinks the Cote de Rhone at the end was good…I think he was just drunk by then) -the $35 “famous” lobster mac and cheese was an abomination. I can’t even begin to tell you how embarrassing it is that I had to mix it up because at least 3 tbsp of oil was sitting on top of dish (did it separate from sitting around or do they just serve it like that? Couldn’t tell) -I’m watching other tables get bread while we have been there longer and we had nothing on the table except a dirty tablecloth. At least throw me a roll at the beginning of service for $700 jeez -the server was very nice but again, didn’t write anything down, and didn’t tell us when we sat down that tasting menus has to be served to everyone at the table or no one at the table could have a tasting menus, which elongated the process to order. -pasta dish was way overcooked, please don’t serve anymore Italians this (they did tell me the pasta was made in house) -dessert was underwhelming but it did have a candle on it -for a 22% “creating happy people fee” to be incorporated into the bill, but then to find that the turnover is so high, just doesn’t compute -an acquaintance says this place is just hit or miss, but for $700 meal for 2 people it should hit after hit after hit every time ….and now I know why they didn’t get a Michelin star Wouldn’t return
The atmosphere of the outdoor seating area is good, service was pleasant and we enjoyed the complimentary champagne to start with; however, food lacked flavor and creativity especially for the price point. They also charge a 22% fee that you are only told about after you have paid the check that also includes a line for tipping (yes, it is written on the bill, but could be easily missed if you aren't paying attention).
Since 2000s, I have come here and had an excellent dining experience giving 5 star reviews. Today, I am incredibly disappointed at the decline in food quality and service. Is this still run by Frank?? Is there any consistency on a day to day basis when he is not around?? We had 2 servers ask what type of water we wanted and it took 15 min before we got flat water in a restaurant with only 6 full tables. For dietary preferences, my son requested less sweet dishes for the chef tasting menu. I requested that part of my coastal tasting menu include the lobster mac and cheese, no chocolate. The chef tasting menu for my son consisted of 3 dishes with variations of Chinese sweet sauces that overpowered one of the meat dishes despite his request. We got served an extra plate of lobster mac and cheese with 2 other dishes and were charged extra. My bass was partially frozen and the sauce bland. I was given a plate with chocolate. The pumpkin dessert was bad. Food descriptions were muttered with no enthusiasm like in the past. I expect better service and food for a $500 meal for 2 that doesn't even include alcohol - with an auto 22% gratuity. I do not recommend this restaurant anymore due to changes in service, food quality and overall taste.
Underwhelming barely scratches the surface for this lauded restaurant. Last night my wife and close friend dined at Mizuna. Being greeted by a complimentary glass of champagne was certainly a great start but that’s not enough to tip the scales in any meaningful way. The scallops were tough, chewy and certainly not the texture of something one might expect from such a revered establishment. I’m told the sea bass was equally mediocre. The touted short ribs were so fatty that after one taste the plate was pushed back into the center of the table. Anding to their dining dismay their plates were bused before they were finished. While the waitstaff was the shining part of their culinary experience having the same poorly cooked items served a second only added insult to the injury of their dining experience. YES the dessert was the gold star of their evening out and hopefully the small box of breakfast treats we hope to enjoy now will be worthy of similar praise. For the $$$$ Mizuna might be your second, third or even fourth choice for a Denver culinary experience.
