Good Service! Very tasty and well done food. Roast chicken was tender, salad was fresh bisque was flavorful and crab croquettes were crispy. Lovely atmosphere! Id honestly have given them 5 stars but I try to save that for mind blowing food.

It’s been over 25 years since I was last here and it didn’t disappoint. Service was great, atmosphere was splendid and the food was delicious. Highly recommend the duck. Sorry about the lack of pictures, but it was that good I was just focused on eating.

Had a wonderful night at Roly‘s after our Engagement. Khan was super attentive and made sure we had the best night we‘ve ever had in Dublin. Thank you so much Khan for the amazing Service and these tokens of appreciation!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Roly's bistro from their halal option manu, I must say that I was thoroughly impressed by the food and ambiance. Firstly, the food was nothing short of exceptional. The dishes were not only beautifully presented but were also bursting with flavor. Each bite was a delightful explosion of taste, and I couldn't help but savor every single dish that I ordered. Additionally, the ambiance of the restaurant was simply perfect. The place was tastefully decorated, creating a cozy and intimate atmosphere that made for a truly enjoyable dining experience. The lighting, music, and overall ambiance all contributed to a mood that was both relaxing and festive. Overall, I would definitely recommend Roly's bistro to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience. The food and ambiance are truly top-notch, and I can't wait to go back and try more of what this wonderful restaurant has to offer.

Excellent spot for food and drink, nice setting, attentive staff, we sat in the Conservatory which was lovely. Would visit again when in the area, the chicken and the scampi were excellent. It was a busy eve when we were there and they coped admirably.

The Roly's Bistro was one of the most revolutionary and lovely culinary experiences that I had in Ireland. The staff and the food are worth 5 stars. In my opinion, this place is one of the best high end restaurant in Dublin. The service was impeccable and the food was made for Gods. I definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to try good food . All my respect for the staff and for the place, I was treated like a royalty. I will definitely come back here.

Great place for comfort food. I ordered roast chicken with Salad. Chicken was juicy on the inside with crispy skin. It just melts in your mouth. Baby Lettuce salad had mayo dressing and was a delightful. It took just 15 mins from sitting down to getting our food on the table.

Went as part of a tour group. Food was excellent, portions were plentiful, and the servers were very attentive. Cannot comment on "value for the money," as this was an included meal as part of our tour package. But the place seemed busy, popular, and people were having a good time!

Cosey venue with incredibly attentive staff. The place was super busy when we went but we weren’t waiting long for orders food and drinks - the staff check up on you but don’t pester you which is a nice balance. The food is well portioned and tastes incredible would recommend the fish cakes, chicken liver pate, roast chicken, cheescake and roulade. The venue is popular so I’d recommend booking 3/4 days if not a week in advance. The prices can be on the expensive side but you do get great quality food. Their Sunday lunch menu (3 courses for 36 quid is an absolute steal in dublin especially for the quality they provide) great place for Sunday lunch or to mark an occasion - definitely would go back and highly recommend

Such a lovely place. The staff served a cake on the house when they heard that it was my fiancee's birthday. The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is very cozy. And the food... OMG, the food was incredible. Thanks to the chef and all the staff. You're amazing. All the best.

I wish to thank you and your friendly staff for treating me and my friends so nice yesterday. We celebrated a very special birthday, 98yrs old man! The restaurant has a very decent menu, for all the tastes, super delicious food and once again, the service, absolutely impeccable! Thank you!!! You must try it!!!

Nicest garden patio area in Dublin. Impeccable taste soft table lighting is very elegant. Understated and relaxed. Space is warm and inviting. Overlooks beautiful Xmas themed garden. Patio. Family friendly lots of space. Sound level is great for good dinner conversations and good memories ! Little gem 💎 in Ballsbridge and Dublin. Roly’s team thank u !

Ive got to say Ive heard big things about Rolys so there were high expectations before I even walked through the door. I glad to say it was absolutely fantastic. We were welcomed at the door and had our coats taken prior to being seated. My eyes gleamed when I saw the menu.. Pigeon.. Venison. Game.. when I see these kinds of meats on a menu I know Im on to a good thing. It was a cold bitter night so a nice hearty soup was just what we needed. It was beautifully seasoned and had great flavor. The breads were delicious, now usually I don’t like filling up on bread but I couldn’t help myself. Patrick went with the fillet steak for main. It was cooked perfectly and the pepper sauce was delicious. For main I had the venison. Seasoned perfectly on a bed of veg. Dessert Paddy went with the apple pie. I just about got a bite in before he devoured it. The little piece I did get to taste was gorgeous. I had the Skellig Chocolate bar with orange sauce... I was sold on the orange sauce. It was amazing... It comes as no surprise that the standard is so high. Throughout the meal the manager Khan chatted with us. He was charming, witty and seemed to genuinely care. We had a fantastic evening, can’t say enough about the place. We will definitely be back.

Went for a birthday lunch in late December 2019 with a large enough group of us. The staff were very helpful, attentive and friendly. The menu had lots of choice for all food types and intolerances. The food itself came in big portions and the standard was very high. I would definitely recommend this place and I will be back in the near future again.

We ate here on our last night. Food was great. The carrot and coriander soup was awesome!

Very good quality food. The breads they give you at the start are very tasty, the brown soda bread is so moreish. I’d highly recommend getting the chocolate sphere for dessert as it literally melts away in front of you as the waiter pores hot chocolate sauce over it. Would 100% recommend if you are looking for reliable food with good service.

I've been here for large family gatherings twice in the last few weeks and it has not disappointed either time. They do a very good set menu for large groups. The fare is solid traditional, simple, unfussy and very well done Irish food. Using the best of local and traditional ingredients, salmon, hake, chicken, lamb, beef, fruit and veg all from local suppliers. A fantastic array of bread offered too to all dinners, so a delight for those who love a good bread with their starter. They will also accommodate gluten and dairy free diners, you won't miss out on the bread as they can do a gluten free bread and olive oil to drizzle. As for the menu between us all we tried everything, they had offerings for the children too, with chicken goujons the favorite there. The drinks menu had a few lovely cocktail offerings and we especially liked the twist on the classic mojito with ginger. The wine menu is of course expansive and Roly's are well known for having an excellent range available to suit all tastes. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed all three courses and all plates were cleared! If you're looking for a spot to suit three or four generations of the family all at once for an enjoyable large family gathering and special occasion, this is the place. Also ideal for a relaxed dinner or lunch any day of the week.

Been to Rolys twice this week. It's always excellent. The early bird menu in the terrace area is really good value because the food is top quality. One of the best restaurants in Dublin in my opinion.

Seriously, if you haven’t been to Roly’s you are missing out. It’s TOP drawer. The most amazing meal I had in 2025!! The special was off the charts! This is a must-visit…Paul and team are amazing. Wine, starter, main, desert…Best meal 2025….John & Rachel

Very good food. Didn't have a reservation so had to sit upstairs in the "fancier" restaurant. Wasn't really prepared or dressed for that but nobody seemed to care. The staff were all very attentive and very good at their jobs.

Roly's are truly incredible. We had a wedding reception that was marvellous. The staff, food and atmosphere were stupendous. All the guests were raving about the place. They are the best. It's easy to see why they've been in the business for so long. Thank you all at Roly's

Had the starter, the main and the dessert I had the crab as a starter! The sauce paired really well with the crab and shrimp! Gobbled it in two minutes! I got a follet as a main! It was a bit dry. I asked for medium rare. The sauce saved it for me! I really loved the dessert! It was a passionfruit cake with mango sauce! My only comment is that it did feel slightly heavy

The food was good. I don't know that I need to go back. They got a bit busy after we sat down. Bread came at the beginning - you pick your slice. The service was overall prompt in the beginning. Then started to lag. The guy working downstairs was super friendly, conversational polite. I like that you can buy wine in their shop. We both did the 2 course so we could share. The servers we dealt with were friendly enough.

The place was pretty busy with people coming in and out for coffee in addition to the dining. We had a nice lunch at the Terrace. Well prepared good quality food, some items were slightly overpriced for the portion size offered. Staff were kind and quick with their service. A decent spot for some nice breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner.

Beautiful little spot. Wish we had more time to enjoy everything it had to offer. Just grabbed a cup of coffee, hot chocolate, and a couple pastries. All of which were very good. But the dining area in the windowed sun room looked very pleasant. Will go back for another visit if in the area. Coffee was very good!

This is a nice neighborhood restaurant serving a variety of dishes. Ours were steak, lamb pie, and chicken. All were tasty and good. The chocolate cheesecake and apple pie for dessert is delicious as well. Overall, a good experience.

We ordered beef, prawns and a roast chicken dish. Each was amazing and the sides were great! The staff were really polite and the service was amazing. Bit pricey, but worth it. Good place for special occasions. 😁

Service was slow and you have to raise your hand or even call to get them to come. Food was alright. The crepes (they call them pancakes but they’re crepes) were delicous. The Omelette and irish breakfast were OK. Coffee was okay as well. Overall not bad, price was reasonable for a group. Yeah, and they bring the check after you called them and leave you waiting, then you ask after a while and they tell you payment is at the till!

I came here for breakfast with my mom a while ago, and I’d say “average” is the most apt label for the place. The interior is quite nice, especially the extension, which on a nice day is really well lit. The food and coffee were enjoyable, though nothing stood out that would necessarily make me want to come back. The service, however, brought the experience down completely. I’m not sure if the place is understaffed or what, but it was extremely poor. There were so many dirty tables in our section, and no one checked in on us after our order was taken. As we were only there for a quick, easy breakfast it wasn’t too much of a bother, but I likely won’t be returning.

I went here for breakfast with my mum last Saturday and it was a very clean and pretty restaurant. We ordered the full Irish and mini breakfasts with tea and toast. It took over 30 mins for our food to arrive but our tea came straight away, it was cold by the time we got our breakfast. The breakfast was actually quite nice and very hot which we loved, unfortunately my plate was full of oil which turned me off it a little. Other than that it was good. A little pricey but I’m giving 3 stars! I enjoyed it and would go again in the future and order something different!

Good food. Nice flavours and plating. Early bird menu is good value. Place is filthy. Dust caked everywhere. Lots of staff, not doing very much. Long waits to get service at times. Left without getting desert or another drink because we didn't want to wait again.

Lovely atmosphere and staff, the breakfast left a lot to be desired. Sausages were like what you'd get in a service station deli, blackened mushroom with no flavour. Would have benefited to have beans served with as it's an Irish breakfast

W

It's a nice restaurant, where the food is nice and it has an old school atmosphere. My duck had a good meaty flavour, but the panna cotta was a little solid. The service was a bit slow (things like writing to our dessert or pay the bill), and it was interesting to watch the staff set the many items of cutlery and glassware

H

Ordered the 8 oz Filet medium well. It came well done and dry, with no pink in the middle. The chicken liver was like a block paste, wasn’t amazing. The salad was great but the portion is very small. Cheesecake meh 🫤 nothing special.

Collette travel had a group of 37 people with a selective menu and this was our final dinner all together before our travels back to our home towns. From the beginning, the staff was a wee bit hostile with our seating because we pulled tables together as the group was very spread out upstairs.and was not seated together. As two of the travelers were giving a QUICK thank you speech to our tour guide and bus driver, the CHEF/ OWNER came out of the kitchen and announced "NO SPEECHES" to the host right in the middle of the bus drivers appreciation , which terribly embarrassed our friend giving the quick speech! Although the meal was lovely, we never received the coffee or tea we asked for with our dessert and had to ask for water refills and never were asked if we wanted other cocktails with our meal. Dublin was an amazing visit but this restaurant really put a damper on our last evening together. 37 meals x $70 each should be worth a quick speech , Mr Chef !

Good location near RDS. We visited on a Sunday evening and the menu was limited as some choices not available. Waiter service was very good. Ambience lacked a buzz but perhaps time of visit didnt help.

J

It’s a beautiful restaurant in a great location, we thought the food was okay but definitely not worth the price, the service was unbelievably terrible making the entire experience unpleasant. In our two weeks in Ireland we have had incredible meal experiences. Roly’s however was definitely the worst.

I was very disappointed. 5 of my prawns were undercooked - after accidentally eating two of them I had to cut open every prawn to check to see if it was raw. I left the other three so the chef could see they were raw and asked the waitress to share the feedback. When she didn't come back to me, I asked her what the chef said and she said she was too busy to have a conversation with them. I highly doubt she even told them. So disappointing as I had heard great things about this restaurant. My starter and my partner's mains were barely warm.

Trigger: Mouldy food. Well, the place is great, the vibe is good too. I am not one to give a bad review, but in the food service industry, the bare minimum is to provide hygienic food. We ordered hot chocolate and an apple pie, unfortunately after eating over 60% of the pie, we noticed mould inside the pie. The manager, Mr Khan, was kind enough to waive the bill and offer a replacement. But offering another item from a showcase where the mouldy pie was? Mould spreads through the air, so I wouldn't trust any other item in their showcase. Also, trying to connect with my heritage will not make me pardon the deficiency in service. It was a horrible start to a great Saturday morning. Would never visit this place again. They certainly do not keep a check on their goods. Would have taken more photos of the mould, hadn't the waiter grabbed it before I could even click a good one.

Very surprised it's lost its touch Arrived Friday 230 booking All staff was in a hurry to go on there lunch or finish for the day Make waiter upstairs Sked would we to order food I responded could we have drinks first all very rushed felt we were intruding The girls are lovely but again kept running away only 3 tables with people very strange My aunt and I had to leave our jacket on very cold if they don't want you there shouldn't take bookings after 230 Both steaks was well done not medium Sorry Rolys either close upstairs if your not willing to look after it Conctration seems to be downstairs Always loved a Friday afternoon for many years here

We had a booking for 6 (4 adults, 1 child and an 8-week-old baby) for a graduation dinner, but were refused entry to both the Terrace Restaurant (ground floor, where I had booked for) and Bistro Restaurant (upstairs, no lift) because we had a buggy. We were told they are “not insured” to have buggies inside the Terrace restaurant or the Bistro — something we’ve never encountered anywhere else for a ground floor restaurant, and which contradicts their website stating it is wheelchair accessible (I checked in advance). There is no mention of buggy restrictions anywhere when booking. On raising our disappointment, staff were abrupt and unhelpful, giving us two options: hold the baby for the entire meal or sit completely alone in the bar/lobby, without any atmosphere. Neither was acceptable for a celebration, so we left. We went instead to Bridge Bar & Bistro, who were extremely accommodating despite being much busier. Posting this so other parents aren’t caught out like we were — clear communication upfront could have avoided all of this.

Very pretentious, value paid to food/drink was not worth it. Just felt like we really should have walked on by!! More info. Our choice that night was the bridge, very busy probably an hour to get in or Rolys. No lineup!! Got ignored at the entrance for 5 minutes with no one there. Then finally to a table and there we sat. Now with pre dinner drink it would've been ok but that was not offered as the table beside us who came in after us was served. At that point I guess I should've said something but didn't as the game was on now! Finally after 15 minutes we were brought menus and asked about drinks which we ordered. Then...waited. Finally came. Order dinner and server acted like he didn't care, didn't seem to know what anything really was. So we ordered and hoped for the best. It's been 2 months so I don't remember what we had but it wasn't anything memorable. Even getting the bill was a chore. Just overall a sad tourist experience at a place highly highly recommended by our tour guide. Maybe it's just us but....

N
Nia S

We were sat down and told that they only had the brunch menu on the weekend, and that they were out of chicken (which comprises half the brunch menu options). Everyone else was allowed to order off all the menus, so it was very confusing as to why we were not allowed to have any options. Very disappointing

I took my mother and my sister to Roly's yesterday. I hadn't been to Roly's for at least 15 years. I grew up in the area so I had no doubt we were going to get a great brunch and and a good experience based on several years of excellent reputation. Unfortunately this was not the case.... It was quite the opposite experience and we all left saying how disappointed we were. We sat down on the enclosed terrace looking out at the old post office. We noticed there was a lot of empty but used tables still with all the dishes waiting to be cleared. There was no waiting staff around. After 20 minutes without so much as a carafe of water on the table I had to get up and walk out to the lady who takes telephone bookings. I explained that we were waiting 20 minutes and no one had come to assist us. The lady said she would send someone over. The entire restaurant had about 10 people sitting at tables, so it was not busy for 11am on a Friday. 10 minutes later a gentleman from the bar came to take our order which was a without a notepad and seemed to be quite abrupt and as to say ' this is not my job but i'll take your order anyway'. 1 full Irish breakfast, tea 1 poached eggs avocado, sourdough bread, cherry tomatoes, tea 1 porridge, 1 pancakes which was requested together After he took the order, the water arrived. 15 minutes later our food arrived but at different times. Irish breakfast arrived, no tea, no toast poached eggs arrived, no tea porridge arrived, no pancakes Again I had to get up after waiting 10 minutes and walk back over the the lady taking phone reservations and explain that we were waiting for tea, toast and pancakes. It was as I was talking to her that I noticed, all the waiting staff are busy in the behind the takeaway coffee, sandwich and pastry area. I suddenly realised the same staff were doing 2 jobs. In an established venue like Roly's this should not be the case. The tea arrived and finally the toast. The toast was like the texture of a cracker because the bread had been toasted some time ago and was sitting under a hot light for too long, definitely not fresh. The meals were all fine, I thought the full Irish was a bit small for 17 euros and could have at least included an additional fried egg. After we finished our dishes sat for at least 20 minutes before we got the attention of a girl who was clearing up breakfast menus to replace them with lunch menus. We had a croissant, a scone and a very watery cappuccino. Asked for the bill, waited 15 minutes in what was now an almost empty restaurant. No one came back so we put our coats on and walked up to the payment area. The very girl I asked for the bill with was run off her feet making coffees and the Irish gentleman who appeared to be the boss pushed her to attend to our needs. Again a young lady trying to do 2 jobs which is not productive in the service industry and in an established restaurant. 75 euros for an extremely poor experience and a what was honestly a 40 euros meal else where. In my opinion as someone who works in the service industry, this place needs much stronger organisation and stronger management. A bit outdated, relying on less staff with less experience and just not very friendly or organised. Very disappointed for a D2 establishment which has been around most of my life.

L
Louise Craig

We went for breakfast, initially greeted we sat down with only 2 other covers in the venue (all had ordered or received food) 10 mins later, we still weren’t approached for our order however very frustrating was when a table of 4 arrived 10 mins after us and got their order taken within 3 mins and then served their food before us also. It was another 5 mins at least before we personally had to sign post a waitesss to our table. I later watched another person get up and ask for service to their table. We then waited a further 30 mins to receive our food. So in total we waited approx 50 mins from sitting down to receiving our food. Awful service, no one asked how our meal was going or if we needed anything g else and at the end when paying we were given no question of how our meal was, the only reason this review gets a star is only due to the food as it was actually good. The service level appears to be selective and for us was far below average. We unfortunately will not return.

Food was not great, maybe it was the lunch time menu but options were not great. Settle on the scampi and chips, I will acknowledge maybe it wasn't the season for prawns but the batter looked like paste best way to describe it, food wasn't bad...but wasnt out of this world especially considering the price but paying 34.50 for a large portion of prawns. Which I assume are cheap as to my understanding, prawns are relatively cheap(maybe not, I don't know maybe my expectations were too high or fixed) but wasn't great. Service was great, staff were friendly and welcoming. But the food was questionable for the price they charge, another thing to note was when ordering soup. I was given a sliver of bread, while another person who i was with, who got the soup, got a chuck of bread. The difference was comical, maybe just a once off, but someone looked at this and thought yes, this is acceptable. Overall poor food quality to price, we only had the soup and scampi and chips, so take this into consideration, also chips were a neglected portion considering price of large compared to small which was 20.00 euro. Based on my experience, which I will acknowledge was a 1st time experience, will give benefit to the doubt, but I felt that they're using they're past reputation to overcharge and underserve.
