My wife and I absolutely loved it and we’re already talking about coming back next week.
My favorite place to get tacos with a great salsa bar. The restraunt is always busy but dont let the line fool you. They are quick and you get chips to snack on anyways. Food always comes out hot and the staff are always friendly. My only negative comment is that they need a bigger space, it gets so crowded but thats just because its good and everyone wants some.
Always relatively packed! Which is a sign of awesome food. And yes confirmed we love the flautas they are delicious. Service is lacking due to high customer traffic and the atmosphere is loud, crowded, and busy.
Went in 20 minutes before closing and everyone was still very kind and welcoming. Ivan the manager especially went above and beyond his duties great manager!! Overall great experience and great food.
So we arrived in El Paso tired and hungry with no idea where to eat. A few locals told us to try El Cometa because it was open late and the food was good. It was also off the freeway and close to our hotel. So we got to a place that was buzzing with people; eating, talking, laughing. We looked around and saw plates with mountains of food and we realized we came to the right place! I had the crispy rolled tacos, I know as flautas. Wife had tacos. My plate came with 4 flautas and a mountain of lettuce and cheese and so much other ingredients, I could not finish them! Wife’s tacos came with lots of meat on a plate and several tortillas on a separate plate. She then made her own tacos and there was plenty of lettuce, tomatoes, and other condiments to choose from! She could not finish her plate either! In short, we left happy! Now the service was a little slow but it was packed so I could not surmise if the service was normally slow or it was because of the packed house. The food was not fancy but it was good and there was plenty of it—at a very reasonable price! If you’re in the El Paso area check it out, you will leave happy !
I was recommended this restaurant by some coworkers. Let me tell you that the food here was so good. Just like mom used to make. 🥲 I had the flaunts. The server brought us chips and along with the salsa bar!!! I could just eat these all day. The highlight is the Salva bar and varieties. The green salsa tastes home made. I had all of them and was sweating from spiciness, but I just kept going. If you want true authentic Mexican food, this has to be your destination. I recommend this place.
Outstanding food, service and atmosphere. This is now my go to spot in El Paso. If you haven't been here yet you're missing out. It's so good, I almost ordered a second plate for myself.

Food was excellent! Service and prices were wonderful as well. Perhaps the best Mexican restaurants we've been to. We'll be back!
get the tacos al pastor with red salsa and lime with an horchata straight making me buss
Good food, service and ambience, and is open until like 3 or 4 in the morning. The Horchata is very good.

We were road tripping and got into El Paso about 9:00 pm. We were famished and really wanted some authentic Mexican food. This might have been the only place open. And they're open from 10:00 am to 4…
Very popular Mexican joint. The food is reasonably priced, and pretty decent. Presentation is not great - it's sloppy and greasy, but tastes good. So if that's what you're going for - get it. They're also open late. They have a salsa bar so that you can top your food with whatever you'd like.
Thought I would try this place out. Am not disappointed. Ordered the Tacos Alambre Pastor with Con Queso and was not disappointed. Food was good, service was FAST! In the time it took me to get some salsa for my chips, my food was there at my table waiting. And they even have coffee! (I prefer coffee over sodas). It was busy, there was some Mexican music playing and I’m pretty sure I heard the cooks singing along, which to means they’re enjoying their job and having fun. And if they weren’t singing, well, the food was still good. It does have a fast food type of vibe but that didn’t stop me from enjoying my meal.
Service was ok. It's mostly self serve Ambiance isn't much. The food, IMO these are the best flautas in El Paso. I only frequent this location so I can't speak for the other locations. They have the …

Very good food. It's a casual little spot very popular so expect a line. The parking lot is small and a little questionable at night but all went well.
We stopped here on our way to the airport after visiting the area, and the food is good. prices on the food are decent, but drinks are a bit high for no refills with mostly ice. The menu selection …

cometa does NOT put out real guacamole for your food it is puraid squash, try ithis at home you will discover this is true avocados are expensive do you really think they would serve them?
So this place is more of a self serve. I ordered the beef tacos with cheese. It comes with lots of flour tortillas, the beef plate, and the condiments you get yourself from a salad bar kind of thing. You get free nachos once you get your table. The sauces and condiments are excellent. The meat itself is average, would say 6/10 quality wise. Quantity is super generous. Price is very reasonable. I also got tres leches for dessert which was different from any usual tres leches I had before. Different in a good way, very light and not too sugary. Servers were nice. Overall I’m satisfied with the experience, but won’t go there again as I didn’t like the beef much. Maybe I’ll give a try to their pork option next time.
The tacos bistek was just ground beef. My husbands quesadilla was very mid. The cheesecake was absolutely delicious but the food food.. taco Bell would've been a better lunch for us sadly.
They were good sometime ago but now you only pay for the name. The meat is cold the tortilla is hard. The meat doesn't taste like anything it's hard and chewy like it's been sitting there for a while and that's because they have.. 😂😂 They don't make them fresh and if you can't tell than you haven't ate good flautas. Try the flautas at Mi Taquito on Airway or Chinampa on gateway east across from Bassett Centre.. El Cometa is selling quantity not quality..
Very rude staff. I love their food but will not go back because of the way they treated me.

Food was not very good. Bistek tacos were sub par. Al pastor taco was worse. Aguas frescas are from concentrate. Has been the worst Mexican food I have had in a while.

Ordered bistec tacos to go and they forgot to place the order Talked to cashier she then told the cooks and gave me this $12 dllrs for this is robbery After I talked to the cashier, she and the cooks were looking out to my table to see if I checked my order and walked away. They didn’t see me looking at them from the other side of the building some of them were laughing I’ll just stick to taco tote from now on.
I love Cometa, their food is delicious, however, I visited yesterday and was extremely disappointed when I realized that the amount I was originally billed was not what was taken out of my account. I tried calling the restaurant to let them know so they could reimburse my money but no response. My total bill was $40.00 plus a $3.00 tip totaling $43.00, instead I was charged $50. Why??
Perssonel is a.disaster, they give you food cold because they are on the freaking phone, or talking with each other, they did not have cream or avocado for the flautas it was a freaking disappointment. I will never come back again.
I was looking forward to this place when someone from work mentioned they had the best flautas in el paso, but I second that. I was very very disappointed when I found out they were shredded turkey not beef. People might think they’re beef, but they are not. They finely shred and fry it enough to hide the turkey flavor and to simulate shredded beef. I could taste it right away. La Pila also uses shredded turkey.
I've been trying to convince my family to come eat here for weeks! And the day I finally get them to come, the service was HORRIBLE! The cashier was talking to someone and ignoring us! She forgot to put an item in our order in. When we told the waitress, she was bothered by it. They forgot to bring us one of the drinks, we told her and she stated we were wrong. We showed her the receipt where it stated we paid for it and again! She was bothered. She brought our missing plate but with a pissed off face! Never coming back! Very disappointed! 😡😡😡😡
Waited 30 minutes. 1st one there. 1st order of the day. Left after no signs of my food being ready. 1 order of flautas. Morning is the worst time to go. They were not ready by opening hour. Paid for my drink and left. Nice people.
