Opiniones de Pho Ao Sen Estuary Cove
I had a really comforting meal at Phở Ao Sen Restaurant in San Francisco. The pho broth was rich, aromatic, and tasted like it had been simmering for hours — clean but full of depth. The beef was tender, and the noodles had the perfect texture. I also tried their spring rolls, which were fresh and nicely balanced with herbs and dipping sauce. The space is casual and cozy, nothing fancy, but it feels authentic and welcoming. Service was quick and friendly, and the portions were generous for the price. If you're craving a solid, no-frills Vietnamese pho spot in San Francisco, Phở Ao Sen definitely hits the spot.
This place served one of the best meals so far in 2 years since I moved here from LA! All I can say is GET #44. It's a winner. And so is the oxtail pho.
Pho was good. Nice broth and good portion. My favorite though was the fresh Spring Roll. The rolls consisted of large fresh shrimp and they were good size. Take out was pretty fast. Def want to go back and try other soups.
Now my Go-To in the area! Came here with a group of friends (~8 people) after an event nearby (around 4:45PM Saturday), they seated us to the long tables where it's easy to chat and have our own space. I appreciate that mindfulness. They are quick to give us menu and help us with any questions we have. I order the Shrimp Spring Roll (Gỏi Cuốn) with their house sauce and it was delicious! The shrimp was a nice size, not like those small ones. I love the overall portion and the way they stacked the spring roll (see picture). This is now my go-to in the area for a well sized group. My friends enjoyed their pho, which undoubtedly looks great and have generous portions! I think you can't ever go wrong ask the server what do they recommend or is most popular too if you're ever stuck. This place gives me those classic southeast Asian family space with modern touches. Bathroom: Yes; it's on the shorter side which is great if you have smaller stature or little ones that only need a bit of an assistance. They do have wheelchair friendly bars but is on the lower side. Parking: Yes; there's a FREE parking lot next to it.
This is a nostalgic place for my family up in NorCal. The staff is super nice and they renovated the place. It looks very modern. Parking is somewhat difficult given it's popularity. I got the nem nuong as the appetizer which was great and the pho dac biet was great as well. The broth was very good and the noodles and meat portion was good. I was so full from the meal.
The food is SO good here! I've had the #2 and the #36, and both were amazing (and all the appetizers and side dishes are good that I've tried). I'm going to keep trying different dishes each visit, and I doubt I'll be disappointed. The atmosphere is very welcoming and nice, with beautiful lighting and plants lining the walls. The staff is pleasant and the food always comes out relatively quickly. I've been here multiple times and I can see myself coming back for more.
Updating review as of Jan 2020. Ao Sen is till run by the same family/folks as it was +5 yrs ago. Food quality/prep is still pretty much top notch. Def come here for their signature dishes that are hard to find elsewhere - the bun cha Ha Noi (grilled pork patties and slices marinated in a sweet salty sauce with mildly pickled mango and carrots done basically as good as you might find in north Vietnam), and the cha ca Thang Long - hot plate pieces of sweet white fish (large, juicy, moist, not at all over cooked) marinated with dill served with traditional sides (can't think of another Viet restaurant around that has this on their menu)! Place can get noisy when it's packed, and maybe minor wait time if you come during peak lunch hours. original review - Great food, staff can be off with service given how busy they get, be ready to wait if you come during busy time.
Best pho broth in Oakland! We came on a Thursday for lunch. We both ordered the #1 - pho dac biet $14.50. I should have gotten the #2 because that one came with beef balls for the same price. The broth tasted clean and is the best I've had in Oakland. It is one of the best in the bay for sure. We also had the chicken wings, very tasty and an ice coffee. They make their iced Vietnamese coffees with crushed ice. It was fragrant with a hint of hazelnut. So darn good. Great job my friends Pho Ao Sen. We had an awesome lunch.
The food is awesome, authentic and the environment gives you that family feeling. I have had Vietnamese food before and this place ranks up with the best of them. Taste, quality and quantity is all there. The hostess/waitress was very nice and sweet. She took her time explaining the different dishes to make sure you pick exactly what you want. Because of her the restaurant gets a extra star in my book. Great job hostess/waitress!! 10/01/18
Phở Ao Sen Restaurant serves up solid Vietnamese food with generous portions. I ordered a vermicelli bowl and pho—both were satisfying and flavorful. The restaurant is surprisingly spacious, though the mix of various light fixtures gives the decor a slightly odd feel. Service was efficient and everything came out quickly. I’d definitely come back for another meal.
This neighborhood spot has been around for decades, a locals favorite Pho spot for all your pho cravings. Beef combo pho, bun Bo hue, pho ga and rice dishes. They also have good appetizers like egg rolls, spring rolls and chicken wings. Bring your family and enjoy some warm pho for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Quick service and plenty of parking. **Don’t forget to follow me on IG and Yelp for more great foodie places to check out Follow... @Only1ChristineLu **
Pho Ao Sen offers an extensive menu with homestyle Vietnamese dishes that always satisfy. From chicken pho in a light, umami-packed broth to giant platters of rice, grilled shrimp, and nicely charred pork, there’s something for everyone. Come here weekly, and it’ll still take months to try everything. While the new location may take some time to adjust, Pho Ao Sen continues to attract a diverse crowd. The food is satisfying, and the fans shaped like leaves add a unique touch to the decor. Seating can be tight.
The restaurant was clean. However, at the time we were there the bathroom had no paper towels. Nothing to wipe your hands. Given that we are still in Covid-19 this surprising. Also, the hand sanitizer outside the restroom was empty! Not good! To the dishes we ordered: Spring Rolls, just two, was kind of expensive (almost $9). Beef noodle (#3) was so so, I have had better. Other dish was number (#36), which was just average. Overall the dishes we ordered were just average.
Well, we haven't been here in a while since we moved further away but this isn't the place we're used to. Fancy bowls, more upscale decor, and it just ain't the same anymore. Our orders (both larges) came in fancy bowls with high sides that makes it difficult to eat, and to make it worse, the bowls were only half filled! My wife doesn't eat a lot and even she didn't leave full off a large...I was hoping to finish her left overs but was disappointed. The Vietnamese coffee was 90% ice! In picture, that's how much ice is left about 1.5 hrs after we got it! To make it worse, it definitely wasn't the normal condensed milk, more like a flavored hazelnut creamer...barely drinkable, and that's 30 mins after getting it because there was so much ice that we couldn't put a straw in.
The inside was definitely a vibe. Jazz music played. Tables were bussed in a timely manner. I ordered a large and the serving was smaller than Pho Mekong, the best pho spot I've had in Oakland so far. They initially tried to avoid giving us both water and tea. They also messed up and charged me incorrectly and then charged me 3% for using a debit card. I wasn't satisfied with service.
This was in December 14th, 2024. I was sick at the time and didn’t want to spread my germs by dining in. I have only been to this place twice maybe? I ordered soup for breakfast and chicken dish for lunch. When I got home this was what the chicken looked like. See the photo. The soup was great. I didn’t want to go back out for the day.
