I tried the Taiwanese beef noodle soup, it’s pretty good and authentic.

This place is the best Chinese restaurant in this area. We had moved here from the bay and couldn’t find anything comparable till we stumbled upon this gem. The owners and staff are so friendly and the food is amazingly fresh and tasty. So glad we tried them out. It’s our go to now

Been coming here since 2007 (on and off due to moving to Natomas). The food is as good if not better now than it was then.. I got the dinner special for 1.. The wonton soup is delicious, I've always got the Mongolian beef and I substitute the pork fried rice for chicken fried rice. 🔥 😋 🤌 This place really doesn't get enough credit for how good it is.. Plus we got 5 star service.

I come at least once a week. Our entire family loves this place. The service is great, the owner is awesome and the food is delicious. Plus the restaurant is always nice and clean. We love it and highly recommend! A+++++

The restaurant is my family favorite! I am Chinese and always scratch my head why I had to drive to south sac for real Chinese food. Since this restaurant had new ownership a few years ago I no longer ask that question anymore. This is the ONLY Chinese restaurant I visit. I had the most authentic Taiwanese style beef noodle soup and crunchy Hong Kong style egg noodles here ( just ask them to make the noodle crunchy, pour veggies and meat and sauce on top of crunchy egg noodles, not many Chinese restaurants offer this in America). Be adventurous, try something they’ve written on the wall. They are all good. The staff is very friendly.

UPDATE NOVEMBER 3, 2023 I believe there are new owners. The food is different. ASK WHAT COMES IN YOUR ENTREE IF YOU HAVE ALLERGIES OR THINGS YOU DISLIKE. I ordered General Tso's chicken combo dinner tonight. It had bell pepper, jalapeno AND Chinese red long chilies. I have never had General Tso's and had bell peppers and jalapeno in it anywhere, not even at Rice Express before. I am allergic to bell peppers as I stated below and luckily I looked at my food before left to take our 'to-go' food home, because it had huge red bell peppers in it. On the plus side, there was more sauce than before so I could spoon it over my rice so it wasn't dry (yay!). The veggies look fresh and I really enjoyed the carrots, snow peas and onions (though I would have liked more onion), but not the peppers. So, make sure to ask what comes in your entree. The gentleman working the register, took back my food with bell pepper in it with no hassle, and was sweet and polite about it and swiftly made a new dish. They also forgot our soup, so make sure to check your bag until they are more in the swing of things. I will try more things, but will ask what comes in them. Good luck! OLD REVIEW: We started going here about a year ago and it's become our go-to Chinese restaurant in Folsom, after our beloved place closed pre-Covid and we tried every other place. Their flavors are good, and they will do their best to customize food which I love because unlike most Americans, I LOVE veggies, but can't eat bell peppers and they always get it right. The best part is that they actually have combo dinners. Nearly every other place around Folsom does not and you have to order several full size dishes at 15-20 dollars each if you want some variety. The owners and workers are very friendly and polite and the prices are reasonable. I only wish there was more sauce because I get my combo plate with fried rice and I like to put my entree on it and it's dry. Other than that, we have liked everything we have tried here and I love that they have a bok choy and garlic stirfry because I LOVE bok choy.

Best Chinese food we have had in the granite bay area! The Taiwanese noodle soup was delicious. Salt and pepper pork chops were a little oily but we were eating at the restaurant and they just came out. Overall, great food and friendly service👍

Amazing food every time. We usually get the jalapeno chicken combo and then an assortment. The cheese wontons are really good too, on the sweeter side. The wonton chips are a must if you're ordering soup or congee/porridge. Everything we've tried has been good. We prefer the fried rice over the chow mein when we do the lunch or dinner combo plates. We order online and the food is always ready by the estimated time.

I dined at Rice Express with my family for the first time in a long time. The service from Jing (the new owner) was wonderful. He was very personable and attentive. The Thai basil chicken and jalapeño chicken were great (the chicken is fried just a heads up). The braised green beans were to die for. And of course potstickers were 10/10. Will be going back again.

This is the best tasting food from a Chinese restaurant that I have had in a long time. The owner is very pleasant and concerned that we enjoyed our meal. Coming back here again.

Wow!! This place has the True Taste of Cantonese Style cooking! The best tasting Soy Sauce chicken(fried or steamed) this Side of the world outside of Singapore. Excellent Shrimp with mixed Vegetables. If requested in Advance, Steamed Bass or Deep fried, crispy Flounder!! Shrimp with mixed veggies- perfect flavor. I can’t believe such a great Chinese restaurant exists in a small city so far from the Bay Area! Their Taiwanese-style Beef Noodle Soup is a must-try—it’s incredibly close to the authentic taste I remember from Taiwan. If you're in Folsom, you’ve got to give this place a try!

This is my 2nd time here and it’s the absolute best place to eat. Before I had chicken vegetables and recently vegetables and tofu. I mostly eat vegetables and they offer a good portion of vegetables without skimping like so many other restaurants do. Not Bok choy. They work hard and are very attentive to their customers. Nothing but praise for this place.

This place is amazing. My family and I are die hard Asian food lovers. When it comes to the cuisine, Rice Express never ceases to amaze us. The food is cooked fresh and there is no long wait time. The personal service is impeccable and they definitely aim to ensure that your dining experience is memorable. The only suggestion that I offer is improvement be on the egg rolls as they are a tad mushy to the palate. Also the walnut chicken has a tad bit too much mayo in its texture and taste. While I’m already a rarely periodic consumer of egg and meat (chicken and fish) products, the taste of the mayo is overwhelmingly noticeable. I’m not sure if this is a regular ingredient or a substitute, it’s something we won’t order in the future for that reason. We are slowly navigating our way through the entire menu to at least try all of the foods that we definitely enjoy and eat (no pork, beef and some other meats and foods). Except for the egg rolls and walnut chicken (which is not totally unappetizing) we have been majorly impressed with the food, the service and the hospitality. It truly is a well kept secret of the Folsom-EDH border.

We went for lunch on Saturday and were immediately seated & served. - salted fish & chicken fried rice: well seasoned fried rice with lots of chicken pieces but I wish that it had more salted fish pieces - pickled cabbage & shredded pork rice noodle: noodle was perfectly cooked (soft yet still has chew to it). The soup was good and not too salty - braised eggplant, salty fish & tofu in clay pot: this dish was very salty. Good thing that we had it with steamed rice. The eggplant was a bit overcooked as it was too mushy for me but the tofu was nice and firm. - Taiwanese beef noodle soup: good hearty simple soup. The noodle was perfectly cooked and the beef pieces were tender and flavorful. Perfect for a cold rainy day. OLD REVIEW We passed this restaurant when we went to 99 Ranch supermarket. We decided to have dinner after we finished our errand. We had to wait couple minutes for the server to sit us as no one was at the front desk. - Manchurian beef: delicious! The beef was deep fried so it was crispy. The sauce was similar to sweet & sour sauce but a bit sweeter. The portion was quite generous. - House chow mien: good. The noodle was perfectly cooked (not too soggy). But could have had more protein. The taste was ok - nothing special. We’ll come back to try different items in the menu.

Although it is clearly set up and would love to have sit down guests, I would say most folks come to purchase their orders and scoot home. We chose to order one of their Family style dinners and Holy Moly!! ended up with enough food to feed ourselves for several nights; their portions are quite generous! Everything seemed well prepared and quite fresh, which I appreciate. None of the dishes seemed to have been hanging around, waiting for someone to order them. I am hoping to try some other dishes before I totally make up my mind about this restaurant as some of the dishes were a little bland for my liking...however, I am willing to say that's on me for what I chose.

Everybody's reviews are good, which makes me feel guilty for 2.5 stars. Maybe they just do takeout, which is probably great. I came in at 1:15 on a Saturday. It was almost empty but the service was non-existent almost. I had to ask twice for a napkin and utensils. Their custom was not to ask if I needed anything or if the food was good. The two servers seemed very distant, even with only two other tables occupied. I ordered the Kung Pao Chicken lunch. The wonton soup cup was quite small. The eggroll was ok. The main dish had tons of rice and not so much Kung Pao Chicken. And it wasn't spicy and, while it had a lot of peanuts, there was no visible red pepper, a mainstay for this dish most places. I will probably try it again to see if this was just a bad day.

Other foods were amazing, but I ordered a seafood tofu hot plate and there was no tofu in it, little disappointed.

We placed a large order for take out for 9 people. We got home and discovered we didn't receive our full order for take out. When my husband returned to restaurant to ask for a remedy he was blamed for not asking that they repeat the order back at the time he ordered AND he had to pay for the additional items that should have been in the original order. We have lived in town for over 20 yrs and eaten here more times than we can count. We've always been given great dood and service. Something changed in management or ownership. We will not be back.

I really wanted to like this place. Actually came here about 4-5 times. While the pricing is decent, the food quality here is ok at best. Majority of everything we ordered was bland from the house noodle soup (which I thought was their signature dish) to the friend rice, orange chicken and their congee (which is a lot better at Ranch 99). The server is always the same guy that doesn't have much personality (never smiled once). If you are in a pinch and want chinese food I think you could pay less and just go to ranch 99's hot food counter for less $$

Hello, My husband & I stopped in for Lunch. We waited 10 minutes to be seated when there was only 4 people in the restaurant. The server was very rude , not friendly at all. My Chicken had very little Cashews or Chicken in it & was smoothered with Onions and tons of Bell peppers. It was very bland & tasted horrible. The worst Chinese food I have ever had. I wouldn't recommend this place.

Placed online order 5:15pm for 5 dishes. An employee called a few minutes later and to say it would be ready at 6pm. I showed up at 6pm and was told they had not even started the order yet. There were 2 other people there waiting for their orders as well. I was then told they would start my order in a few minutes. The others said the same thing that they didn’t start their orders to they arrived either. I left and will not be going back.

Ordered food here before and soup came in big white bowl. Next time I ordered soup came in smaller gray bowl. Then ordered main dish and it was very small. Not consistent so will not ever be back.
