Stopped in to pick up a breakfast taco. It was delicious. They were quick and friendly.
Delicious! I definitely would recommend this spot. I love that the menu is not complicated and they focus on a select set of solid dishes.
Great service generous portions! The creamy green salsa is very good! Great neighborhood spot! Highly recommended!
Delicious tacos 🌮 sides and aguas frescas 👌🏻 we ordered carne asada alambre and cebollitas with papas and everything was excellent
We are thrilled to have a taco stand within walking distance. The guacamole is perfect, especially paired with the tangy red onion on the side. The cebollita con papas is cooked beautifully, providing a hearty, satisfying starch. And the champiñones - wow! I’ve never had mushrooms like these: beefy, deeply flavorful, and almost caramelized, all wrapped in the softest double corn tortillas. The whole meal was wonderfully reminiscent of some of the best food I’ve had in Mexico City. We washed it all down with cups of jamaica that struck the perfect balance between tart and lightly sweet. Can’t wait to go back!
Where to start?! I love the location, the decor, and it's clean and modern. The food was incredible. I love tacos in general but these are something special. The meat was tender, well seasoned and everything was super fresh. I ordered the lamb and carnitas. The tortillas are perfectly soft but not falling apart. I will be back tomorrow!
Tacopolis offers a refreshing and modern approach to the traditional taqueria experience. The aesthetic is simple and clean, creating a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere. While the look is modern, the service is a throwback to classic hospitality—fast, friendly, and attentive. However, the true star of Tacopolis is, and should always be, the meat. My wife and I sampled a variety of tacos, and each was a testament to the kitchen's skill. The barbacoa was especially a highlight, tender and full of rich flavor. The carnitas, birria, and chorizo were all equally delicious, proving that Tacopolis excels where it matters most. For the quality and flavor, the prices are incredibly reasonable. The tacos are simple, without unnecessary frills, allowing the high-quality ingredients to shine. This is a place that delivers on its promise of delicious, no-nonsense tacos. While I would have given them a 4.5-star rating if possible, their commitment to great meat and excellent service easily earns them a well-deserved 5 stars.
Was a huge fan of Chef Alex since his Carnitas Lonja days! Have been to Tacopolis twice within a weeks time and its been fantastic both times! Service has been great! Pricing is a little more than you find in the neighborhood but definitely worth it! Highly recommend!
Very low key spot which is already a plus. They have breakfast tacos til noon but the costras are a favorite of mine. Try the salsa macha! It’s on every table.
Went right after work. Simple menu but the food packs flavor. Decided to do tacos and while each was $4, the size were like the price of two tacos. #barbacoataco tender and great flavor. Doesn’t have the bad beefy flavor or parts that most places will have. #birriataco tender and juicy, you can say the consome was mixed in. #carnitastaco most places will have undesirable porky flavor but this was great. Just the right flavor and tender.
🔥 Just tried the Tacos de Asada de Alambre at Tacopolis, and let me tell you… they’re a must! The steak is perfectly grilled, juicy, and full of flavor, mixed with sautéed onions, bell peppers, and melty cheese—served with fresh tortillas on the side. Simple, hearty, and delicious! 🌮 The vibe at Tacopolis is just as good as the food—welcoming, colorful, and full of that authentic taco shop charm. Whether you're dining in or grabbing to-go, they make you feel right at home. ✨ They just opened, so if you haven’t stopped by yet, this is your sign! Show them some love and treat yourself to some real-deal tacos. Highly recommend checking them out!

We had alambre de pollo, quesadilla de birria, papas, horchata. Everything was delicious, big portions. Hopefully they'll continue to grow their business and find a larger, more spacious place. Highly recommend.
Sure! Here's a short and positive review you can use for Tacopolis: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Loved the Alambre Tacos at Tacopolis! They were packed with flavor and super satisfying. Great portion size, fresh ingredients, and definitely worth a visit if you're craving something delicious and filling!
Carnitas taco from here was 10/10 I had it with green salsa. I also had a costra with asada, I’d never had one before but it was very good as well. Looking forward to trying the breakfast tacos next time.
D E L I C I O U S. The ingredients are so fresh and clean too. I can’t tell you how happy it made us to eat these. Definitely worth a visit. Can’t wait to eat it again. Already planning our next visit.
Friendly service and great tacos. I had the carnitas and the birria and both were super tender and flavorful. $4 a pop, but you can taste the quality. Waiter was friendly. I will say having lived in Mexico City for a while, I think them saying it's Mexico City inspired is a little misleading. The decor matches a hip La Roma spot, but the tacos are entirely different than your DF standard. DF standard is more "mini taco" style with meats like longaniza and suadero, and these were much larger and a hell of a lot less greasy. Also, no Mexican Coke unfortunately! Someone gotta change that. But I'll be back for more!
This neighborhood bistro is now on our weekly rotation. Located in a street-corner building that used to house the Snow Monkey, it's owned by a James Beard—nominated chef. The food—simple, high-quality, and reasonably priced—is a welcome departure from Tex-Mex. More akin to Mexican street fare seared on a hot grill, everything is fresh and cooked to order. I'm addicted to their champiñón tacos. Packed with beautifully-cooked mushrooms, I add chopped onions, cilantro, some of their spicy red sauce, and a big dollop of their guacamole (the best restaurant guacamole I've ever tasted, second only to my spouse's homemade). It's delicious, substantial, and filling—even if you're not a vegetarian. My spouse loves the asada alambre—grilled beef with cheese, onions, and peppers—scooped into corn tortillas. And both their red and green sauces are delicious. And their beans are our current favorite. Instead of the usual pork grease and over-saltiness, these are perfectly and lightly seasoned to bring out the true pinto bean flavor: fresh, tender-firm, and swimming in a rich broth. Best beans ever. The food is the star here, and we usually get it to go. Great food prepared by nice people. Delicious.
A friend at Dandyland recommended we walk across the street and try Tacopolis. I am tremendously thankful for the recommendation! We ordered a wide variety of tacos, costras (similar to a quesadilla but open faced and the cheese is grilled), appetizers, and plates. Literally everything was delicious! Every single bite was fantastic! Nothing was fancy, pretentious, or overdone in any way. The food was allowed to shine and it was bright, savory, acidic, sweet, salty, and everything in exactly the right ways! I will visit often and I suggest you do so too.
All food is made fresh. I got a massive drink, alambres, and beans. Great prices.

It’s really good and a great value. Two adults and child got out of there for $35 and full. Where else can you do that anymore? Highly recommend!
Best tacos I’ve had since Mexico. The salsas with the garnishes really bring it home and hit the spot! The place is super clean and the staff is extremely friendly and attentive. Definitely going back.
I’ve been eagerly awaiting the day Alex, the mastermind behind the beloved Carnitas Lonja, unveiled his new concept — and Tacopolis exceeds every expectation. This new spot doesn’t just celebrate Alex’s legendary Michoacán-style carnitas; it expands the experience with a menu that now includes quesadillas, costras, tacos, and alambres, each crafted with the same authenticity and attention to detail that made Carnitas Lonja a San Antonio staple. Located in the vibrant Deco District, Tacopolis perfectly captures the essence of a traditional taquería while adding a fresh, inviting vibe that makes you want to linger over every bite. The flavors are bold, the ingredients are impossibly fresh, and every dish feels like a heartfelt homage to true Mexican street food. Thank you, Alex, for keeping it real, authentic, and unapologetically delicious — once again raising the bar for what Mexican cuisine in San Antonio can be. Tacopolis isn’t just a restaurant; it’s an experience — and an absolute must-visit for anyone craving authentic Mexican tacos done right.

Went and got some breakfast tacos and I must say the fillings were delicious. My only negative were the flour tortillas seemed like Mission tortillas. Personally I'm use to the light fluffy style but that's just me. The chorizo and egg were definitely on point with flavor. Definitely will have to go back and try for lunch.

Kind of disappointing. I heard rave reviews about this place and it’s very close to my house. We ordered on DoorDash and picked it up. None of the tacos came with the onion, cilantro, lime, or pickled onions that it is pictured with. The potatoes had 0 salt and were completely flavorless. The tacos alambres do not say anything about containing cheese so I got these for my husband who has a dairy allergy. He could not eat them. Super underwhelming for $55.
