Opiniones de Old German Bakery & Restaurant Fredericksburg
Be ready to wait here! Our wait was about an hour but we had shopping to do so it was fine! Plus, they have a few benches to sit on outside so it’s not a bad wait. Just people watch! Ordered the German pancakes, the Belgium waffle, and the special of the day, the Benedict. All was great! We loved the pancakes! They come with lemons and powdered sugar and don’t be scared to use it ALL! Totally worth it! Then when you’re done eating, they make you wait in the bakery line to pay your tab. Smart move on their part! Highly recommend ordering the chocolate chip cookie! It’s divine!! We also bought 4 pastries!
Busy spot on a Sunday morning but worth the 40 minute wait. Nice breakfast list of classics and German inspired. Service was fast and attentive. Price was a good value and not high. Bakery had many danishes, kolaches and other treats. If you don’t want to wait for a table for breakfast, you can grab coffee and bakery items to go.
Great diner food. Friendly efficient staff, even when crowded. We liked our breakfasts, which came with generous quantity. I would not consider the food particularly German though. I got some take out. Alert pastries which were tasty also. Conveniently located on the Main Street. I recommend this restauraunt.
Worth the 25min wait on Sunday! We hopped in line with 23 2-people parties ahead of us at 10am. I got the croissant with bacon, husband got the schnitzel, a sausage on the side, and coffees. The portions were great, service was quick, and everything you could want in a breakfast. So glad we stayed in line!
Excellent German food and pastries taste just like in Germany. Very friendly and professional service. Great atmosphere, the staff makes you feel so very welcome. This is a part of my heritage and I’ve been in many German restaurants throughout the US, but they make the best German food and pastries. So anybody who wants true German food need to go to the Old German Bakery in Fredericksburg
This was a quaint little breakfast spot. The food was good, and came relatively quickly since the place a a little busy. I had the waffle meal and my wife had the pancake meal. Both came with eggs to order and bacon. Simple orders done right. Thank you
Honestly can't attest to much as I just got a raspberry lemon danish before work this morning. But it was absolutely delicious. If you've never had a danish before, I highly recommend trying one here first. It will be a great first experience.
Overall excellent experience. Party of two on a weekday. A couple minute wait for them to clean a table for us. From time of order to food arriving was just over 10 minutes. German pancakes and Roulade meal were excellent. Service was friendly and attentive. Bakery goods were rated as excellent also (though if you wait too late in the morning many will be gone).
LT recommended so we dropped in with our party of 7 on a Monday morning at 1100. Typical wait time 30-45 minutes. Everyone ordered something different and enjoyed everything. I ordered Opas Sausage and German Pancake. I thought everything was delicious!!! I rated 5 stars because their service was perfect especially as busy as they were. I recommend this restaurant. Only complaint is I didn't get to order the other amazing meals off the menu! Stop by and see for yourself!
Sauerbraten and jagerschnitzel were great and if I would choose only one fooor sure would be the jagerschnitzel. It Was just amazing. Our waitress Rebecca was the best so far! She helped us choosing the plates and she is also so so soooo sweet and helpful. She increased our experience with her energy 100%!! We also got the almond danish, which is good, and fresh too
Excellent place for breakfast. Food and service are fantastic. Highly recommend you try to get there before 9:00 a.m. as it gets very busy and you typically will find that there is a wait of at least 20 to 30 minutes.
Quick to be seated and fast service. Staff was respectful and everyone seemed happy! Food was delicious and portions were generous. We got the croissant sandwich, German pancake, and chicken fried steak. They have 2 menus breakfast from 7am-11am and lunch from 11am-3pm. No waffles or hash browns after 11am.
This place is fantastic!! It's worth the 45-minute wait! Our waiter, Hayden, was very attentive, patient, and has a great personality! The entire staff was great! The pastries were delicious.. We got one of each..lol. For lunch we both had the German pancake and Jagerschnitzel ..which was amazing! It's better than Auslander's. We will definitely visit TOGB during our yearly trips to FXBG!
Atmosphere was great and food was delicious, worth the wait! Line looks longer than the wait itself. Service is quick and kind, food was hot and delicious. Got the German pancake and breakfast schnitzel. Our server was very sweet and fun to talk to. Pastries in the bakery were also very good! Got the Nutella croissants, chocolate twists and nut roll. Would definitely come back again.
Second time my husband and I have come here, and it was even better the second time! We got here about an hour after opening and are glad we did, as it gets crowded FAST. Everything was delicious, came out quickly, and everyone was just lovely and helpful. We took home way too many pastries from the bakery, but it was definitely worth it. One of my favorite stops on our honeymoon weekend!
This is a great place to try out. It is a little packed and the wait can be long but worth it. The food was amazing. The cinnamon rolls are wonderful as is their homemade bread. They make their smoked pork chops taste like bacon. They are moist and delicious. The Belgian Waffles are soft and fluffy. Great service. Only downside is they make you use little packets of butter to butter everything yourself instead of buttering it yourself. Including your toast (which I hate more than anything) so be prepared and butter quickly before it gets cold. Other than that pet peeve it is a great place to check out.
I highly recommend this place. We were looking for a place with good breakfast and we came to the right place. The food was fresh, cooked with local produce and very nicely served. The waitress was very friendly, very helpful and made the whole visit pleasant and we could feel welcome. I recommend to everyone.
We ordered the sausage plate, croissant sandwich and a half order of banana Nutella crepe. The sausage was tasty and croissant flakey and fresh. Highly recommend stopping by to get the pastries. Get there early because they sell quick!
I had the two egg breakfast plate and a peach and cream cheese Danish with hot coffee. Everything was cooked to perfection, and the warmed Danish was a special treat that I highly recommend. I will try the German pancakes next time. The restrooms were busy, but everyone was friendly about taking turns.
Dropped by to pick up some baked goods to-go and WOW the selection made it hard to choose. Our favorite was the Bavarian Cream, but everything we got was delicious. The place was packed by 8:00 on Sunday, so get there early!
We had multiple amazing experiences dining here. I was in the area for the weekend and we ended up eating here 3 different days for breakfast. We had a great experience all 3 times. Alicia was our server each time and she did an amazing job keeping up with all the traffic in the restaurant, coordinating the door / wait activities, all while being attentive and proactive with our table. She was very friendly and personable and helped us have a great experience while we toured the town. The food was consistently delicious every time. The bakery is also worth checking out with delicious pastries and baked goods. I highly recommend dining here. Don’t let the long lines intimidate you. The wait time clears pretty quickly but more importantly, the food and experience are worth it.
We came here twice for breakfast in one weekend. Rebecca was a delight both mornings. The German pancake with lemon and powdered sugar was light and delicious. Loved the waffle and French toast. Our favorite was the Schnitzel...get a side of gravy. Top notch bacon.
Great casual Old German restaurant/cafe bakery. Luckily we had cash as the card machine wasn't functional on our visit. Everything was absolutely delicious from the fried green tomatoes to the price and small town home feeling from the staff. Super friendly and did not break the bank unlike other eateries near by/Fredericksburg.
It's a cool place, but there's quite a bit of wait, depending on the time you arrive. We were there by 10.30 am and had about a 40-minute wait or so, which sadly meant we missed the breakfast menu. When we were seated, we were given the all-day menu instead. My breakfast was basic with eggs and bacon, but I loved my crispy bacon. My husband and sister in law enjoyed their meal too, and the german pancake was perfect after our meal.
This was a delightful way to start the day. We got there before 9am on a weekday, so they were not crazy busy. Service was good, attentive. Best coffee it was a surprise. German pancakes were delicious. The smoked ham and German sausage were both very good. The waffles were cooked to perfection. We also ordered a variety of pastries to take with us and they were truly the best thing we ate the entire trip. Make sure to collect a box to take home and fight over! And there is no photo proof.... we ate them too fast!
We've been wanting to come here for years, but there's always a long line. My husband had a Friday off so we made an early stop here and only had to wait 5 minutes. The food is delicious and the atmosphere lively. We definitely brought home some baked goods, the apple strudel and a bear claw, which were delicious for the next couple of days.
This place is our favorite to eat while in town. Their homemade biscuits are the absolute best. The sausages and kraut are good, and the lunch specials are always well priced with a large tasty portion. The schnitzel covered in gravy was amazing! You really can't go wrong with any of their menu items. Give them a chance and you won't be disappointed.
Food was the wait! We went on a Sunday at around 10:15 and waited about 35 mins to get a table. We loved the potato that came with the breakfast plates! They’re flavorful and crunchy. The German pancake was very special, just the right amount of sweetness and crunchiness. We didn’t get bakeries because that’s another 30-40 mins line. The oranges that came with the dishes are surprisingly tasty too!
Really good authentic German food. From the schnitzel to the beer cheese and pretzels. Even the potato salad was perfect. Been to Germany many times and I could not tell the difference in the food. Very nice service and was not rushed at all and even took the time to char a bit. Roomy seating too and not noisy even with a full dining room. Will go back and can't recommend enough.
While I waited 30 minutes in the cold for my table, it was well worth it. The wait staff were great. My lunch was tasty and I had the chance to pick up some bakery items for breakfast tomorrow, a loaf of sour dough and a few cookies for gifts. I spent $25 including lunch and all the treats I picked up. The pricing if very affordable and I was impressed they didn’t overprice because of all the tourists here. This is a must visit when you come to Fredericksburg.
We've never tried German food before and were delighted we ended up here. Fantastic food and very GOOD service. Our serve assisted us with our orders and made sure we were well taken care of. They have large servings and will probably take some food home if your party is smaller and everyone orders something! I'd definitely eat here again if my family visits Fredericksburg again. Plenty of parking in the street or the nearby plaza on the left hand side as you exit the restaurant (just a short walk away). Highly recommend for those wanting try German food or already love it!
In Fredericksburg for a few days of relaxation and my husband and I decided to try this place for breakfast. Soooo glad we did! First, I want to shout out this family that sat across from us. We had a wonderful conversation. They were there before us. However when they left the server told us that our breakfast was covered!!!! What a blessing! I'm so sorry I can't remember their names but we thank them so much!! On another note, the food was fantastic! My husband had the biscuits with German sausage gravy topped with poached eggs (not pictured), and I had an omelet with ham, potatoes, tomatoes, and cheese We also had a German pancake. Everything was so good!! We can't wait to come back when we're in town. Thanks for the great service and food. Our server was great as well.
Great, authentic German food! I really enjoyed my visit from start to finish. The bakery was excellent — everything tasted fresh and delicious — and the service was just as wonderful. Friendly staff and a great overall experience. I’ll definitely be back!
Stopped in Fredericksburg for a late brunch, was pleasantly surprised by the Old German Bakery. We ordered a giant pretzel for our appetizer which was excellent. I ordered the Country Fried Steak and Eggs. The gravy was light and actually added to the dish. The Haus potatoes were perfectly seasoned, and the steak itself was done amazing. I also tried the German Pancake which was delicious and surprisingly refreshing because of the lemon zest and syrup. The portion sizes were great and the prices were reasonable for the portions. I would highly recommend stopping here if you’re in Fredericksburg.
It was really nice. The prices are very reasonable for Fredericksburg. The American dishes are a little cheaper than the German ones. However the sauerkraut/bratwurst and other more typical German foods are well worth it. The giant pretzel was good and the mustard/cheese sauces are well balanced and not overly spicy. The Bavarian Burger was excellent and apparently the Reuben was also a hit. The German style bakery in the place has extremely good pastries that taste the way they are supposed to.
We got there before the Sunday morning rush (as it appeared) so there was very little wait time. Our server was great, she made an amazing breakfast even more enjoyable. The Belgium Breakfast was close to perfect. Grab a few pastries on your way out, even if you don't need them. I look forward to coming back here next time I visit.
Food was awesome, we ordered Omas breakfast and Opas breakfast, both phenomenal. We went on a Saturday, showed up at 9:55 and sat down at 10:35am for reference. There were probably 20-25 parties before us. Service was very quick! Worth the wait. There’s a walk up counter for pastries with a short wait!
Amazing food, service and atmosphere!!! Hubby fell in love with the Opa's German sausage and I fell in love with the German pancake!! Our food was hot and fresh. Our waitress was helpful, friendly and so sweet!! Steady stream of customers coming in to eat in the restaurant and pick up take out orders, and to get an order of their yummy pastries!!! This place is excellent. 5 stars all the way around!!!
This was excellent overall. Great service from the staff, and the food was great. Definitely get the red cabbage salad as a side, you won't be disappointed. The Reuben sandwich and potato salad were also excellent. But the real winner here was the Giant Pretzel with Beer Cheese and Mustard. Best pretzel I've ever had.
WOW! The Old German Bakery & Restaurant ROCKS! We had a wonderful breakfast and loved Rebecca who doted on us the entire meal. She is amazing. We had the Schnitzel and an unbelievable German pancake. The pancake was a creation in between a traditional pancake and a crepe. Thin, moist and spongy. I topped it with butter, syrup, powdered sugar, cinnamon and lemon. Yes, lemon! It tasted more like lemon curd, sweet and tangy. Mind blown. I highly recommend the Old German Bakery & Restaurant when you are in Fredericksburg, Texas!
Heads up- this place is busy, so make sure your entire party is present or you will not be seated. The food is excellent. In my opinion, this place has the best German food in the area. I had schnitzel and then a German pancake for dessert (FYI get it with the lemon and powdered sugar). My husband had the sausage plate. My brother had the bratwurst place and my sister in law had the bratwurst sandwich. The German pancake was amazing too!!!!
I tried a few pastries from the bakery! Freshly made and very good! 🤤 I visited right when they opened. The Old German Bakery and Restaurant was established in 1975 and Lutz Henschel has been the owner since 1998. They serve true German food by using traditional German recipes to make all food from scratch. The decor is Old World Berlin with a friendly family atmosphere. They serve breakfast all day. 🥐 🥮 Authentic German breads and pastries. 🇩🇪 Danke Schon!
⸻ We came to this restaurant at 9:00 a.m. the day after Christmas. We waited about 25 minutes in line, but it was absolutely worth it. Our server was very friendly and patient. Since we weren’t familiar with the menu, she took the time to explain everything clearly. When she noticed that we had ordered a bit too much food, she kindly warned us that the portions were large and suggested ordering half portions instead, which we really appreciated. We tried the fried pork chop and the German sausage, and both were delicious. Great food and great service — we would definitely come back!
I highly recommend this casual restaurant. I went at a busy time & had to wait about 20 minutes, but it was worth it. I lived in Germany years ago, and this schnitzel was very authentic and tasty. It was served with crunchy home fries and a salad. The iced tea was fresh, large and had crushed ice. The service was excellent. There is also a bakery if you want to get some goodies to go!
We left early at 3am from my city to get here by 8am. There were open seats so we were able to pick where we wanted to sit. By 8:15am it was flooding in with people and the wait was 30+ mins on a Sunday. Went again on a Wednesday around 9am and it was quiet with no wait. Their food was amazing, service was great and we loved our pastries we got and we got some to bring home too. Worth going! Just make sure to plan early if you're going on a weekend :)

Great small-town breakfast and bakery. Arrive early on the weekend, the dining room is small and typically has a wait. The pastries in the case are wonderful. Worth the stop.
Wonderful breakfast! The German pancakes were delicious. Eggs and bacon were prepared just like I like ‘em. Service was A1! We will be back!!!
Casual atmosphere but excellent authentic German food. Surprised at the quality as the interior is well used.....and crowded.
Food is definitely hardy I love the fried potatoes here. Crusty exterior tender inside -yum. Meats are breaded and fried - lightly seasoned so you can taste the meat nicely. German pancake - oh dear that thing is bigger than my head- crunchy a bit on the edge spongy tender in the middle - you can taste the subtle butter and cream in the batter without heavy seasoning of sweetness or saltiness- very enjoyable to eat the whole thing! Sauerkraut is not real here. It’s really purple cabbage cooked in cider vinegar and sugar but I have to say I still enjoyed it very much. Happy eating
Very good service and great sweet tea! My sausage platter was tasty - I would recommend the bratwurst platter as that was the best of the three sausages by far! Her chicken salad sandwich was good and filling but not anything special. Their pastries are great and could tide one over if there's a line for a table, too.
Visiting Fredericksburg this week, we arrived on Tuesday and couldn't check into our hotel until 2pm, so we looked for a place to grab some lunch. Old German bakery was nearby and we chose that. It seemed quite crowded with a good number of people outside. We went in and were told to add our names to the list and we would be called. We waited roughly about 30 minutes and got a table. The place was packed full of people and very little moving room inside. Our server was Aaron. He was very attentive and patient with us. We placed quite a significant order involving both breakfast and lunch. I went up to the counter to check on deserts and saw several that I was interested in. Making the purchase for the deserts wasn't a problem except I didn't get any kind of receipt and when I inquired, I found it was going to be complicated to get one now. Lunch was interesting. The Jaegerschnitzel was very, very good and the red cabbage had a nice punch to it. My wife wasn't too happy with the Reuben. She said there was no real flavour and the rye bread had no flavour, nor did the sauerkraut. I tasted it and thought it was okay. The meat was very good. The potato salad was good as were the fried potatoes. There is only one working restroom. The other one is down. The waiting line for the restroom was a little lengthy at one point. It would be to the benefit of the owner to repair the other restroom in the very near future. It is needed. Overall, for a one time visit it was okay. Would we return for another visit, most likely. The prices were decent and the food was very good. The restaurant won't be open again while we are here. Our cost for deserts was $11 and the cost for our meals came up to be just over $71. Note to owners - Keep Aaron! He is a definite asset to your business. It is rare to find great wait staff anymore these days. He was professional and courteous, very attentive and cared about the job he was doing. KEEP THIS MAN!
So the food is good and the service wasn't bad. The reason for the 4 stars is that the tables seem pretty close. I think that makes the atmosphere not so enjoyable. You can definitely hear other people's conversations and vise versa. I didn't like that it seemed to be jammed together. It's a bit claustrophobic. Maybe they should move locations. Spead out the tables and have a nice area to eat outside like I saw other restaurants had. There was one dish someone in our party got because it looked good, but it tasted horrible. It was the saurbraten. It was just marinated beef with brown gravy, but whatever they marinated it, I was disgusting! I don't eat German food much, so I stuck with something safe. The jagarschnitzel was very good! I would go back. But I would try to see when they are slower so I didn't feel like a sardine packed in a can.
Went for breakfast on a Sunday. As we imagined, there was a wait, but it wasn't terrible for the two of us. I'd say the worst part was the excessive cricket presence outside, but that's not the restaurants fault. Breakfast was good, but I would likely not order the German pancake again. The bacon was delicious. Husband really enjoyed his pancake. We also bought a couple of things at the bakery for later in the day and they were good. Husband said the pretzel was amazing. Service overall was great, though our server felt a bit hard to get most of the time. They have a lot going on there and handle a lot, but others are around and help out when needed. Great place to stop by.
Food is outstanding. I love my german pancake with bacon and lot! Giant pretzel is also very nice. The sausages platter is good for me but not that great though my husband loves it. The schnitzel is just so so. Service - i would rate 1 for the system is not efficient enough to handle large crowd long que outside with HOT temperature. The thing I hate is we need to wait outside with hot weather drop me a lot and need to stand as not enough chair. I wish they can improve in the way they serve people like maybe accept order for people that are closer to get seated so the order will come out right away without us waiting too long for the waiter to come for us to order and wait for the food. It was such a non productive time/wasted time to reduce the queuing time. They are not efficient enough to run a resto with a long que basically. If i may suggest to handle que aside from taking order earlier, they may start to do the phone text message system so people can still walk around while waiting in the queue.
If you want to eat breakfast here make sure that you arrive early or be prepared for at least an hour and a half wait, no joke. 17 families were already ahead of us when we arrived there. So we opted for the bakery and coffee and that did not disappoint. Staff was very friendly. I hope we get to try breakfast the next time we visit. It all smelt delicious.
Rated as the best bakery in town, 2024! The old German bakery is a delight, but if you want to eat there for breakfast be ready to be there at opening or wait at least half an hour to get in. The baked goods are affordable and delicious. There are better baked goods available in Fredericksburg, but this bakery hits the best price/taste combination if you want to eat somewhere for breakfast for several days.
We came here for breakfast on Monday morning, got seated right away (it seems constantly packed on weekends). I had the holstein schnitzel, which was pretty good. The potatoes on the side were okay, nothing crazy. My girlfriend had the Belgium breakfast but substituted for the hazelnut waffle, which was absolutely delicious. Her eggs and ham were very mid though and didn't taste great. Overall, it seems like it's a hit or miss with the food. The bakery does have amazing pastries. We tried the cherry turnover and I've also had several others before, all of which were very tasty. Even if you don't sit down to order food, I'd recommend getting some pastries to go.
My wife, who lived in Germany for a long time, wanted to eat German food, so we drove three hours to get here. The schnitzel felt a bit far from the authentic taste, but the grilled sausages were pretty good. The Rinderrouladen felt a little too thick compared to what we had in Germany—it was somewhat tougher and lacked the nutty flavor. Still, it was enough to bring back the feeling of Germany after a long time. Since it’s actually a bakery, they didn’t serve any beer.
The food was good, service was good, the atmosphere was a bit loud and busy but since it's in a busy tourist spot I expected that. I didn't expect the long wait time. It was about 45min and with the chilly wind, not so fun. But the staff were still gracious. I got the Opas sausage link breakfast, my husband got the Holstein Schnitzel. The pan fries were similar to the ones my mom made which felt like home but inconsistent with flavor some you could taste seasoning while others were bland. The seasoning on my hash browns were great.
This was my first time visiting. The food and pastries were good, but overall, nothing really stood out to set it apart, except for the Opa’s sausage, which was definitely a highlight. The atmosphere is simple; I was hoping for a bit more in terms of ambiance and decor. The dishes we tried were the smoked pork chop and the croissant sandwich. Service was good, and I recommend arriving early if you want to grab a seat quickly.
Visited for breakfast and had Oma’s pancakes with bacon. They give you a significant amount of food for the price. It gets busy just about any day of the week, so get there early. Tables are small and don’t leave much leg room for folks that are taller in stature. Service was friendly and they offer t-shirts you can buy in various colors. There is a decent assortment of pastries that are made in house. If in town again we will be looking to try either the lunch or menu options. The location is great right on the main strip in and out of town.

Enjoyable casual German restaurant. Very busy during the winter holidays. Hearty and tasty German dishes. The potato salad that comes with many sandwiches is particularly good. Hurried and efficient service. Pay at cashier counter, with 3% extra charge for credit cards. Street parking or scattered free parking lots along the street.
Our server was really good and had a great personality but they were extremely busy and we had to ask for refills a couple times. The food really good too but there was a mix up with our order. They fixed it quickly. They were almost out of pastries. You would think a bakery would have more. All in all we waited an hour to get a table and it was worth it.
Went here for breakfast and it was pretty packed with a decent wait, but it's apparently one of the spots you need to try at least once. Got a crepe and it was perfectly serviceable. My server treated me kindly. Quite loud inside, given how small a space it is it's not surprising. Perhaps I need to try something from the bakery itself because I'm not sure if I get why this place is so hyped and crowded. Can't be the only unique place in Fredericksburg that serves a decent breakfast, right?
Waited over 30 minutes to be seated which I understand but by the time we where seated breakfast was over and they wouldn't give us a break..I then ordered Chicken fried steak off the menu and they said it was sold out. Really 12 noon and it's sold out. Got some cookies to go that were good but probably won't be back.

Stopped by Old German Bakery and Restaurant in Fredericksburg for a late breakfast, and overall, it was a lovely experience. We tried a variety of dishes: pancakes, scrambled eggs, a veggie omelet,…
Food was good. Service was excellent.! ambience is crowded but friendly. You first will need to write your name on a waiting list inside.. will go outside and sit and wait until they call your name…

Good place for breakfast and baked goods. Wife said her omelet was outstanding; my eggs and bacon were good with a nice biscuit. Not sure if it was worth the wait.
Decent food, but as someone who lived in Germany for a decade, this feels more like an American interpretation than the real deal. Everything tasted fine, just wasn't the authentic experience I was hoping for.
We stopped here for lunch on the way to Enchanted Rock State Park. We were there for lunch and it was incredibly busy. Luckily even though it was busy we were able to get seated right away. Our drink orders were taken and shortly after our food orders. My wife had the chicken Swiss sandwich With a pretzel bun, I had the chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes. We had mushrooms as an appetizer and all portions were very healthy. Medium priced but suggested. The three stars is because we only saw our waitress twice. Once when we ordered and once when we got our check. Someone from the kitchen delivered our food. Definitely pick up some pastries from the bakery on the way out.
Waited way to long for a table for four as the restaurant took tables of two on the list after us to sit at a table with four chairs. Her comment was the kitchen was busy and couldn't handle the table of four orders right then. They seated three tables of two all at the same time bypassing us. Bogus explanation, they were seating locals and not outsiders
I ordered jalapeños sausage cheese bread and raspberry cream puff, bread was quite dry maybe because they re heat it in the microwave but portion was good. My parties said it's not really as good as how "German bakery" should represent and I do agree some part. Raspberry cream puff was really good even though I'm not a big dessert kind of guy. I can't rate on the food part because I only ordered two bread items but as a regular bakery, I'd say it wasn't bad. Price wasn't that bad either I think.
The history of this place might be carrying the good reviews and the food is very affordable and decent but I wouldn’t go back and prioritize breakfast here. There was some confusion with seating and a party of 7 was seated despite not being there when the initial announcement was made but then our party, that was a bachelorette party (with matching shirts), was split and then they wouldn’t seat a 4 top with 2 people because 1 was getting something from their car for low sugars, after waiting for over an hour. My issue is they later let the 7 top sit even though they were not there for the first call. I understand not seating incomplete parties but it seemed unnecessary and like they don’t care for bachelorette parties - just generally rude. Wouldn’t recommend for large groups.
It does get crowded, so I'd advise having some patience when you arrive. That said, the bakery had a variety of options while we waited to be seated just outside. Once seated, we ordered two differ…

Nice place. Peach crepes too sweet not fresh peaches, cheese omelet was overly stuffed with cheese and the top was loaded with cheese. Biscuit perfect. I bought a poppy seed pastry and the poppy seed was minimal. Really disappointed .
It’s a cute little spot on Main Street that we were so excited to try having come to Fredrickberg on a day trip. We left sorely disappointed. We walked in and were able to be promptly sat but it took a while to get menus or even be greeted by our server which was a little weird considering how many of them were wandering around and collecting back at the service corner. But our server was nice once we did meet her. We ordered schnitzel, rouladen, and a flatbread appetizer. Don’t be fooled by the pictures. The appetizer was about the only thing that was pleasant. The schnitzel was just..okay? We’ve had much better on the river walk in SA! My rouladen however, I only took one bite of. Having had rouladen in the past, I discovered this one was much too sweet tasting and oddly tangy in a very unpleasant way. Served with the blandest potatoes, bland gravy, and ungodly sweet cabbage, it was grossing me out. The soup I had ordered with it also had an aftertaste like something out of a can. I proceeded to pick off my husband’s plate and when the server came back and inquired as to why I hadn’t eaten I told her it tasted off. She scribbled something on her notepad and apologized and that was that. Halfway through our meal a large family sat right next to us, which was fine, but we noticed they were there for a hot minute without menus or drinks. At some point they got up and decided to leave, still not having been served. They walked out and at that point their server walked out of the back room and came to the table and continued to huff and puff and loudly complain how rude they were to other staff and she was just about to come get them drinks etc. etc. it seemed like weird service in my opinion. We were kind of over the experience at this point and just wanted to pay and leave. The bakery had been wiped out so we couldn’t even get the taste of the food out of our mouths with a pastry. Our bill was absurdly high, with nothing taken off from the weird rouladin. They also didn’t take our American Express card. Neither of us ate much of our food. We ended up back on main street feeling icky to our stomachs, out $64, and utterly disappointed. Won’t be back.
