Hard to find parking, they have a tiny lot - you have to park on the street or in the pay parking lot and walk to it. Coffee is great (had a cortado and autumn spice latte). Quality you would expect from a third wave coffee place. This place has nice, cozy seating with nice decor. I came on Labor Day late morning and it was absolutely packed. The decor here is better than the Devout location in Niles. Also, this place serves hot food (from the truck outside-but they bring it to your table) and the Niles Devout location doesn't have that. We will be coming here again.

I can’t believe I orders pizza at a coffee shop, but I’m glad I did. It was damn good!

Came here for the first time on a Saturday and the line was out the door, but for good reason. Easily one of the best lattes I’ve had in the area (oat milk and house syrup). We also had the spicy adan pizza and the classic smash burger and both were deliciousssss. It’s the following Monday and I’m back again because I couldn’t stop thinking about the latte. Parking is rough - if you don’t get lucky with the lot, be prepared to find street parking and potentially walk a block.

Formerly known as Slapface coffee, Devout has transformed this niche location into an aesthetically pleasing ironwood café! Their biscuit, while seemingly simple, boasted buttery, flaky layers that made for a delightful snack. Whether paired with jelly or salted butter, each bite was a treat. The avocado toast was equally satisfying, with the addition of greens adding a fresh twist. For those with a sweet tooth, the French toast topped with syrup and berries proved to be a decadent choice. The lattes were just right--not too strong--and my iced latte had a pleasantly milky flavor, although I understand it may not appeal to everyone. Thankfully, they offered milk alternatives to accommodate different preferences. While the barista greeted us warmly, there wasn't much small talk. After taking our order and noting specifics such as milk preferences, they provided us with a number for our table. Most of our order was brought directly to us, though we had to collect our drinks from the counter. However, the wait was minimal as they efficiently processed orders. I appreciated the overall ambiance of the café, which provided a conducive environment for both studying and socializing. The spacious tables easily accommodated larger groups, with ample room for individuals to work or study with their laptops. Although I didn't explore the upstairs area, I noted the renovated loft space with additional tables and lighting, a significant improvement from its previous incarnation as Slapface. While it could get a bit noisy downstairs, I observed that those studying upstairs seemed to find a quieter environment. I'm eager to return and enjoy another cup of coffee while tackling some work!

Fremont's Hidden Gem! No place has atmosphere like this!! Order at the counter, brunch and lunch items, traditional espresso. My new fav!

I’ve visited during Fremont Restaurant Week and I had a great experience. My wife and I ordered the burger that is featured in the Restaurant Week and we loved. Burger was just perfect and delicious. I recommend visiting the place and I’ll come back for coffee one of these days.

This is a go-to whenever I'm in the area. Though parking can be challenging, the drinks and ambiance are fantastic. It is a great place to sit and get some work done, read a book, or chat with friends, but I'll note that they don't provide any Wi-Fi access.

We were passing through Rocky Springs and this place was highly recommended by everyone so we decided to check it out. When we walked in, we were greeted and seated by a very nice waitress (Lori). We ordered a couple of plates of eggs, bacon, and hash browns and a plate of pancakes. Before turning away, Lori said confidently, “this will be the best breakfast of your trip”, and she did not disappoint. The eggs were fried to perfection, the bacon was thick and crispy, and the pancakes were fluffy and delicious. We literally couldn’t have asked for a better meal.

Renegade definitely has a great vibe with great coffee and even better brunch. The smoke salmon toast exceeded expectations. Brought the family along with no problem. Would come back. Highly recommend

Possibly the best place for breakfast that I’ve been to in Fremont. My wife and I always order a coffee, usually a pour over while my wife orders a latte (coffee or matcha). For food, everything we have tried has been great. Avocado toast, smoked salmon toast, French toast, pizzas and salads have all been exceptionally tasty. Their menu is not extensive but executed well, you can taste the difference in quality and care.

Love, love, love this place. Coffee is best I’ve had in Fremont and compares well with my hometown, Portland, the most serious coffee city in the country. They are serious about their bean selection and their coffee making techniques. The results show up in the taste. What I didn’t expect was all the excellent food and really interesting dishes. And the Detroit pizza…it’s the best I’ve had out of the 10 or so places I’ve tried across the nation (tho I’ve not had it in Detroit). And finally no wi-fi…so there actually energy here…it’s not a “laptop morgue” like many coffee shops. And it’s a really cool space inside. Thank you for that, Renegade.

By far one of our favorite cafes to visit. And we are there often. It doesn't help it's on our daily route six days a week! But the food and drinks make it hard to stay away! There is nothing we have had there that is not delicious! Chef Tony always comes with the hitters! Avocado Toast (easily in my top 3), Salmon Toast (could eat this every day), Smash Burgers, French Fries (simple yet there is something about them that makes you keep eating them), and Detroit Style pizzas. The Spicy Adan is the one! Coffee is on point. Mochas are my favorite. But the Bourbon Cappuccino is the drink that keeps my hubby and his dad friends frequently at Renegade! I know Chef is always testing something new and it never disappoints, so safe to say we will be continued patrons for awhile to come.

This cafe offers a vibrant atmosphere with upbeat music and plenty of seating options, including cozy upstairs nooks for intimate conversations. The cappuccino was a delight, smooth and creamy, while the iced mocha achieved the perfect balance of sweetness and chocolate flavor. The added bonus of a food truck nearby makes it a one-stop shop for both coffee and food cravings. While the absence of Wi-Fi encourages genuine social interaction, it might be a drawback for some. Overall, it's a fantastic spot to unwind with friends and enjoy delicious beverages.

Pretty swanky setup! I love devout in Niles and was excited to see that they opened a new place close to my home. Love the black and gold aesthetic. I didn't go up stairs, also noticed the vault was closed. The employee was very kind explaining the soft opening situation. In the near future it seems they'll have more of a cafe vibe going on. I saw the avocado toast and it looked very appealing. They explained they'll have a large food menu coming up and have evening community events! I'm looking forward to having a nice place close to home. Oh and don't park in their lot, park in the Amtrak lot right next to the shop.

Staff is friendly. You have the choice to order food at an electronic kiosk or through staff. I wish there was more sitting space outside. The interior is spacious, plus there is an upstairs. Menu is simple , coffee is grrrreat!

Awesome looking coffee shop with great ambiance. Got a Detroit style pepperoni pizza and it was delicious! The staff was super friendly and helpful. I would say best Detroit style pizza in Fremont. The dough was nice and fluffy and the edges were perfectly crisp. I would definitely go back. Only downside is the parking is a little tight but they do have preferred park for food pickup. Will go back soon to try more of their menu!

If you're a public transit King like me, you can catch the 99 bus from Fremont Bart and it drops you off right in front of Devout Coffee. I got a Mocha and it was super tasty, not too sweet! No wifi but not a problem, I appreciate the thought behind it. Would definitely come back to try food and other drinks.

Underrated gem in Fremont, located in an old bank. Pretty cool place to hang out. They have upstairs seating. Only gripe is no wifi. Probably to keep the parked crowds away. But I have mobile tethering. The mocha is great. Food seems good from observation of other tables. Parking in the lot is limited but street parking works.

Love this place. I can’t recall what coffee shop this was previously but I’m in love with the space and the vibes of it. All the renovations and lights made me feel more excited for the holidays. The coffee was delicious and even though it seemed like a popular time/day, I received my order fairly quickly. There were so many people sitting and chatting on the tables without anymore food or drinks so it was annoying having to wait for a booth, specially with a toddler. I didn’t want to risk sitting a toddler on a high stool so I wish there was some sort of policy or maybe staff letting them know that if they’re done with their food or drinks, there are other patrons waiting for seating.

I used to come here when it was slapface so the cafe got a much needed facelift. Very vibey, love the ambiance. One con: they don’t have wifi… It is nice to sit and chat over a cup of coffee though

S

Avocado toast is the best! You have to try this unique toast with savory nuts on the top. Coffee is the same taste as Devout on the Niles Blvd. This store is closer for me than that Devout coffee. Overall a great place for working. Hope to have more brunch choices. The only problem here is no wifi yet…

We like Devout cafe in Niles and decided to check this place out with my 5yo daughter. We ordered two toasts, both were delicious. The place is cosy and stylish. There are small and big tables, a company of 5-6 people could easily sit at the round ones, the back of the seat is high enough so they also feel very private.

Aesthetic cafe with working space but no wifi. Pour over coffee is excellent 👌 Detroit styled pizza (crust is like Pizza Hut) is solid if you're into that.

Been meaning to go to this cafe because of its interior! Absolutely love the vibe of this place! There were lots of room and seating since there’s a second floor. Their bathroom is also air-conditioned and clean! Went here to work on my final paper and the cafe ambiance was just enough for me to finish it. Tried their mushroom ricotta and it was delish! Paired it with their hot chocolate for kids because it was $1 less than the normal hot chocolate. No regrets! The total was $18 and a bit expensive than I expected, but for the experience I think it’s worth it. Next time, I might just get a simple drink. Nonetheless, it was a great experience! Highly recommend!

This place is such a gem. I really felt like a silicon valley tech bro adult. The place is so nice w/ various seating options. And the aesthetics are on point w/ very friendly and kind staff. There's two stories and many people came here to work. There is no wifi here as they want it to be an environment where people can connect face to face but the people who had to work w/ internet would use hotspots on their phones. There's also really nice and clean bathrooms (upstairs) You serve yourself by getting your own water, napkins, sauces, and utensils, but they carry your food to your seat if your ordered it. The EATS. Omg. I got the ricotta cheese + mushroom pizza ($16) and paid an extra $1 for hot honey on top and it was SCRUMPTIOUS. litr licking my lips and the sweetness of the honey really made it whole. That extra $1 was so worth. The price was totally worth imo and the bread was not your typical pizza dough, it was a thick bread kinda action (I have no idea what it's called) My friend got the renegade burger w/ garlic fried and she said she was really craving burger so she said it hit. Fries were very unique in a cut I've never seen them before like I litr have no idea what they're called but I tried a lil and it was really good. And omg the lemonade was ELECTRIFYING. fully worth the $5. I could taste the true LEMON and it wasn't complete sugar. My friend said she prefers it sweeter but it was perfect for my taste, I loved it. It was a truly beautiful artisanal lemonade delightful to my eyes and taste buds. Overall, I would love to come back here to try more of their food. I litr have no complaints.

The people leaving one star reviews are off their rockers. They’re probably so used to their Starbucks that they don’t know what a quality coffee shop is like and complain about really dumb things. This place is the best café you will find in Newark/ Fremont and the quality of coffee is great. Food was good too

Best breakfast burrito I’ve ever had. Do Not Order Unless You’re Hungry. Not because you won’t finish, but because you will. There’s egg, there’s chorizo, there’s fries, there’s avocado, there’s cheese, it’s light and heavy at the same time, they toast the outside… Spot has plenty of space upstairs and downstairs. Very cool layout.

I wanted to stop by this place to try their coffee. We went around 1:30 p.m., which is usually when they stop serving coffee in cups, so I hesitated to ask. But when I did, the owner was very kind and happily agreed, which genuinely made me happy. The coffee itself tasted really good. Beyond that, it was such a lovely experience—being in a cozy space, enjoying the music, sipping my cappuccino, and sharing a sweet little coffee date moment with my hubby. Just loved it. I really liked the cappuccino it was good, and staff were amazing.! Will definitely stop by again.!

I recently visited Renegade by Devout Coffee for a morning pick-me-up and breakfast, and it exceeded all my expectations—this place is a standout in the coffee scene, with an unwavering commitment to quality that sets it apart from the crowd. The coffee selection is incredible, offering a wide array of flavors and options that cater to every taste. I tried “The Old Fashioned” latte, which was an absolute revelation: smooth, perfectly balanced with hints of citrus, bitters, and a subtle sweetness that evoked a classic cocktail in coffee form. My child went for the iced latte with their house syrup, and it was exceptional—refreshingly crisp with layers of nuanced flavor that made it one of the best iced drinks we’ve had. The pastries and food were equally impressive. We indulged in the pull-apart muffin from The Midwife and the Baker, one of the best and healthiest pastry shops around—fluffy, wholesome, and packed with fresh ingredients that made it feel indulgent yet nourishing. To round out our meal, we shared a breakfast sandwich that ranks among the best I’ve ever tasted: hearty, flavorful fillings on perfectly toasted bread, with every bite hitting just right. The seating is comfortable and versatile, from plush spots for lounging to tables perfect for working or chatting. Its convenient location in a lively area makes it easy to swing by, whether you’re on foot, in a car, or using transit—no fuss involved. Best of all, the prices are amazingly reasonable for such premium offerings; it feels like a hidden value without skimping on excellence. Everything here is perfect—I absolutely love this unique spot and can’t wait to return for more. If you’re seeking a coffee shop that prioritizes quality above all, Renegade by Devout Coffee is unbeatable!

Always been a big fan of Devout Coffee ☕️ and their pastries when I was first introduced by my coworker suggestions. By the time I came through the afternoon, the pastries were almost gone ! I’m glad they were able to open a second location with more parking spots around the vicinity. I enjoyed how they are trying to change the way modern coffee shops are operating, where they are emphasizing community over everybody sitting and looking at their laptop screens for hours. A lot of family and friends come by chatting! I’m not sure what their food truck? Is outside? They remade my coffee without having me to ask because the latte art was lacking but also because I didn’t hear my order the first time around when I was taking photos of the store.

Avocado toast and coffee were very good. Bought beans from them a few times - expensive but pretty good. They can do a better job keeping the place tidy. Okay, here goes. First, I love that a local favorite coffee rosters and cafe has created a larger cafe, half-service product. They’re new, so I’m sure they’re still figuring out some things. But unfortunately those things still impacted my first visit to the location. Menu items, I assume either the kitchen isn’t fully complete in the back or they don’t have one. The food is brought in from a food truck that’s parked in the parking lot. Meaning, lots of coming in and out in a major path of egress. It doesn’t make for an ideal scenario for those standing in line. The actual physical menu is nowhere to be found until you get to the register. Because there’s not a lot of space between the register and the door they NEED to place the menu either outside or directly inside so people don’t get stuck trying to decide what they want when they get to the register. Because this wasn’t the case, the line took FOREVER while people were figuring out what they wanted at the register, The line. Place some signage posts at the end and beginning of the queue telling people where the line starts and stops. AND/OR task someone to check every 10 minutes because people aren’t smart, no one wants to queue correctly, you have to make them. And unfortunately not queueing correctly causes blockages at the door. The food. It was DELICIOUS!!! I was surprised by how good it was. I’m usually left wanting at coffee spots when it comes to food but they did a great job. Nothing too complicated, lots of breakfast staples. The coffee, it wasn’t worse or better than other coffee I’ve had. Nothing to write home about. I got the “Autumn”-something. I’d recommend integrating more items for the amount of money people are paying for an overpriced milk and espresso. But I’d say that about any coffee shop. Use puréed pumpkin, it’ll set you apart! The service, was great, easy and not over complicated. You order up front, they call your name for the drink orders and you get a number if you order food, they bring.your food directly to you.

The food was really good but somehow too oily. Their parking lot is really small. You can park in the other parking lot next to the coffee shop for free on the weekend but have to pay $3 on the weekdays.

Updated Feb 2026 FOOD: still top notch. - Avocado Toast = still amazing. - Breakfast Sandwich (sans meat, add avocado) = delicious, and a much better value now! COFFEE DRINKS & TEAS: always fantastic. Their baristas know their coffee and tea, they use the right tools and techniques, and their roasting and preparation is all on point. Nicely done! AMBIANCE: still modern, sleek, and hip. SERVICE: much improved inside the cafe! Special shout out once again to the hardworking folks preparing the food in the outside kitchen trailer: they are incredibly nice. Thank you 😊 LOCATION: historic Centerville district. With lots of roadwork going on, some new housing going in, I’m hoping this area really comes alive soon. The Renegade concept is unique, interesting, and the food and wide array of drinks are delicious. They have scaled back their food offerings quite a bit, but that’s ok! It aligns more with their current hours of operation and frankly, sometimes less is more. They’re a morning/early afternoon cafe known for superb coffee, teas, and espresso after all, so their unique toasts, tasty pastries, and awesome breakfast sandwich fit perfectly with the coffee/morning vibe. Their food offerings are all flavorful and well-executed. If they were open later until 4 or 5pm, the expanded food menu would make more sense. But with their current hours, this totally works. I still wish they would turn the super small parking lot into a coffee garden with outdoor seating, lots of greenery (plants, etc), and a couple of heat lamps. They wouldn’t be loosing that much parking (most folks park on street) and it’s a tight space for maneuvering cars, anyways. With the nice weather we have most of year, people LOVE great outdoor seating. Really good stuff, Renegade. Keep it up!!! It’s not easy being a locally owned/operated food and beverage biz. It’s rough out there. I appreciate you!

Former location of Slap Face coffee. Nice space, parking is a challenge. I ordered a mocha to go. The Niles location (Devout) is more convenient.

Loved the Avocado toast and vibe. Very limited outdoor seating right next to parking…

Coffee here is phenomenal! My friend and I are both professional baristas and this place is no joke. We were thrilled to see the quality of drink-ware and plates, it created such an elevated experience. Food was gorgeous but I found the thyme toast to be too sweet.

I needed a place to study and work and nowhere in fremont fit the bill. Including here. I'm annoyed no wifi but I get the concept. The food was good over priced but coffee was really good best I've had in fremont. This is if you know enjoy and are a coffee snob. It's real clean good coffee not over sugary flavored starbucks like. If I'm in area I'd go back

This coffee location is unique and one that I could hang out at to meet up with friends for something warm on a cold day. Reminds me of NY. I believe this used to be a bank back in the day and they turned it into a nice two story coffee joint but the outside decor is still ugly. The parking is scarce. They have their own parking but only 8 spots and 1 handicap space. The rest are all street parking but only on one side of the street; the other side of the street. Plenty of inside seats for small and big groups. There is one kiosk to place order and one register but they mainly prefer us using the kiosk. They can accept Apple Pay. Coffee mocha was pretty good and not too sweet, and had a cute design on top. You take a number and they will deliver your food but drinks are to be picked up at the counter. They are pretty slow making drinks as they only have one machine. You can order warm food. That came out faster. We ordered their breakfast sandwiches with egg, sausage and crispy bacon on a brioche bread. Yumm! That was good. Cool experience but this location is too busy and saw many waiting for their drinks. If not in a rush, I would come here and lounge.

Came here for the first time and was a nice place. Unique drink flavors to choose from. Decent seating area but nice ambiance. I had the Old Fashioned Cappuccino (bourbon syrup) and the crunchy avocado toast - winner, winner, chicken dinner!! Service was friendly and quick. I'll come here again if I'm in the area.

First of all, the "Smash" Burger was really fresh and delicious. Seasoned perfectly and juicy. Not much char on the patty like most smash burgers, but I liked it a lot. The grilled onions complimented the beef really well. I first walked up to the truck to place an order, but apparently you have to order inside the coffee shop. No big deal, a sign would have been helpful. Being a coffee shop inside drinks are limited to a (obviously) coffee selections, a few canned sodas & mineral water. I asked if the had ice water, they directed me to a jug of room temperature water and small glass cups. I'll definitely be back, but next time I'll probably get it to go & bring my cold water bottle with me

A cute coffee shop with great vibes and even better food and coffee! A great atmosphere that embraces minimalism. Two floors of seating and great opportunity to connect with new people. The coffee was good, not very hot and there are minimal options for customizations - no vanilla or cinnamon which I think are very simple and common additives for a latte or coffee in general. The food menu is fresh and seasonal and absolutely delicious! Cons: No WiFi, minimal parking (about 4 or 5 spaces in the parking lot), minimal options to customize the drinks. I asked for vanilla latte with cinnamon and they don’t have vanilla syrup or cinnamon. There is cutlery, napkins, and hot sauce upstairs available! The bathrooms are upstairs so not disability friendly. Items ordered: Oatmilk latte with house made brown sugar syrup; old fashioned inspired iced oatmilk latte; crunchy avocado toast with eggs and bacon; truffle shuffle deep dish pizza

Beautiful interior, atmosphere and cozy! Coffee is delicious, avocado toast is fantastic, sunny-side eggs & toast needed some salt, little too basic. The staff calls your name for drink orders and deliver your food to your table. Make sure to grab salt, pepper, napkins, utensils downstairs if you are planning on sitting upstairs.

I love coming here for a coffee with friends, the baristas are always great and the drinks are consistently yummy. The food is incredible and I can’t wait to try more. The Detroit pizza is so good!! Only a star off because the lack of WiFi… the concept is cool, but I just can’t justify coming that often if I can’t get some hw or work done.

Renegade Coffee by Devout Coffee has eclectic atmosphere, quality coffee, and friendly staff. It offers a unique blend of specialty coffee drinks and a cozy space for patrons to relax or work. I am impressed with their creative menu options and the attention to detail in each cup. The vibe is welcoming and laid-back, making it a favourite spot for locals and visitors alike. I highly recommend this place for great coffee and experience.

This is my second visit here and decided to try one of their foods. I like the Shakerato, but the pizza was quite too hard and a bit greasy. It’s quite unusual that they serve pizzas in cafes, which is why I decided to try theirs and see how they taste like. Anyways, this place is still good to go to and hangout with friends, but not really a place to work since they don’t have WiFi here. It can get loud at certain times of the days especially on the weekends.

Almost anytime we go, they have excuses to not serve in the drinks in mugs and resort to take away cups. Once they said they do takeaway-cups-only an hour before closing. Not great but whatever. Then we go earlier and then we are told they stop doing it 1.5 hours before closing time. There was once when we went 3+ hours before the closing and still the same response. I've seen them serving mugs to customers right before us but we get spared for some reason. Their coffee and food is pretty good but the service and the people leave something to be desired.

Went there today for brunch, to start off the service is great and so are the employees. Everyone is super sweet and welcoming. They were taking my order and I was informed that only one item off of their soft opening menu was available, as the other items were sold out. I ordered a biscuit cube and a latte. The latte was great, but the biscuit cube could be improved. It had a strong taste and smell of dough. But I will be coming again to try the other items!

No complaints about the coffee. My mocha and espresso were good. Went in 15 mins before opening and was asked to wait outside til they opened at 8am. No problem with that. Came in at 8am and asked if they were ready for us and was told "It's 8am so they're open". Ok! Placed my order and got it. But why at 8am on a cloudy cool day are the ceiling fans already operating? It was chilly hanging out. The thermostat showed 63deg F. Normal room temp should be 68 so it was cold for indoors and the door was left open.

The service was very nice and the atmosphere was lovely. However, I paid $6.50 for a matcha (added honey for sweetener) and it does not taste very good. No, I’m not comparing it to Starbucks (I would wonder the same thing). I’ve had matcha at a few places around and this is one wasn’t terrible, but not worth the money.

Good food, meh vibes. The price of great avocado toast is dealing with service staff who look like they hate their lives.

E
Ellesha Wanigasekera

Had an overpriced slice of avocado toast for $13 on a really stupid kidney-shaped plate that forced me to place my food back in the exact same place after each bite or it wouldn’t fit. Ordered an extra hot latte for $7, got a tepid one. Server didn’t know what I ordered and only served the food. I had to pick up my coffee and carry both upstairs. Not enough single seating for folks looking to get some work done - I sat at a communal table and had to deal with an annoying table mate trying to force a conversation. $24 for mid food, mid coffee, mid vibe.

We are devastated that they removed the pizza and tri-tip sandwich from the menu we feel like that was the number one thing drawing us to this location and now unfortunately they have 1/10th of the menu so most likely we will not be coming back unless they bring back the old menu.

Devout was used to be my go to coffee for Fremont and I have been to this Renegade store since its opening. Unfortunately I see the quality declining over time. Today when I entered, there is a very bad smell right at the door entrance. I’m pretty sure either the floor or the carpet is not clean. Plus, there are two open garbage bins placed right next to the entrance door, so you will be welcoming by the “garbage smell” when you enter. I’ve told the staff about this issue, but no body was doing the cleaning before I left. For the coffee, I order the latte and the Americano but the milk for the latte was overheated and thus the sweetness was destroyed. I hope this store can retain its cleanliness and coffee standard again.

Cute place, however kind of pricey, no WiFi, very limited options on flavors and NO modifications. I ordered a latte and it came out a tad strong, already paid an up-charge for oat milk but hesitated to ask for a little more oat milk when I first tasted it but when I did, was told they don’t do additions? I understand it’s not a Starbucks but if the customer isn’t satisfied with their order, isn’t it your job to correct it or at least try? All I wanted was a tad more oat milk for my $8 latte to balance out the bitterness of espresso. They didn’t even have to warm it up but they told me, in a rather condescending manner, that they don’t do any additions/ modifications. Isn’t this a coffee shop? If the customer isn’t satisfied with their order, you’re not going to fix it? Especially if it’s an easy fix? Anyways, a tad disappointed. Mainly by the attitude of the barista. He could have handled it better.

I am disappointed every time I tried the coffee at this cafe, no matter how much I want to support local businesses recommended by so many in the East Bay. I usually order their latte, but it always tastes weak and almost watery, leaving me in disbelief that I just spent $7 on a small cup of coffee. I tried their latte again today, it literally tastes like I am drinking nuclear waste. I wonder if this cafe and their team grew too comfortable being the very few "higher-end" coffee places that they think they can serve mediocre (at best) quality in their drinks?

Ugh. So frustrated today- Usually love this place and love going here. However, this last time I ordered food, the food server passed by me and didn’t see me waving my hand (which happens! I’m also a server at another restaurant and know it can be overwhelming). When I went to ask the staff about my food the guy working the front counter literally pointed at my food on another persons table and said “that’s yours.” And then I asked for a new plate and he brought the same plate…That’s a major health code violation and overall just really gross. This incident made me feel like I can’t trust the safety of my food or feeling cared for if that staff member is there.

Detroit style pizza is great. Very confusing service if you order food from both cafe and kitchen. Paid 15% tips yet asked to bring back plates and clean up tables outselves

Hideous Coffee.. Very nice staff though. Officially the worst tasting cappuccino I have ever had was my experience today. I decided to give this place another shot today and was convinced, will NEVER have the coffee again. Absolutely great staff. Polite pleasant, know what they are doing... I was surprised they don't have a "house" Espresso that I can go and get without reservations. They keep changing their espresso every couple weeks. This was a great turnoff for me.

I wanted to love this place. Coffee is good, but I had few drinks made wrong. When I tell the barista he has a bad attitude about it. I wanted to support a local coffee shop, but after this experience I am not coming back.

I don’t have a good experience here. Ordered a hot latte to go and they made it dine in, later on just pour the coffee into a paper cup. The latte tasted super sweet which isn’t supposed to be. Not worth the time and money to wait in line.

No wifi, no plugs, almost no parking (but theyll happily tell you to pay 3 bucks to park in the lot across the street), overly pricy food (but it is good).

J

It’s a popular spot with lots of hip and good-looking people frequenting the establishment probably because it’s “cute” and the sister store to Devout in Niles. Of course, the coffee is great! Best in the area! No doubt. The service, on the other hand, needs training. Perhaps I came on a bad day for them; perhaps they are unhappy with their management; perhaps they are frustrated with their location, constantly herding people in the parking lot; I can see how this would be unpleasant. But none of that matters if the vibe of the place suffers as a result of their negativity and hostility - soft skills. There are more constructive ways to let people know they are parked incorrectly or where to order or that the kitchen is closed. But all I observed was the baristas getting angry at everything and everyone for seemingly just being there. There is a sign that says they don’t provide Wi-Fi in order to foster a more conversational and positive environment - I support this. Unfortunately, this ethos is not reflected in the well being of the employees. The vibe was not as positive as one would expect, based on the other reviews. I still tipped them because I understand the despair of the employees, so this is constructive feedback for management. It was a bit unwelcoming when they automatically made my capp in a takeaway paper cup. So I took the hint and left, probably to never come back.. Can’t win ‘em all I guess ;)

H
Huiying Li

Parking is hard to find. And they seem to be understaffed. Only about five people ahead me to order and a few people in the store, but take me 15 minutes to order and another 15 to 20 minutes to get the food. Supper supper slow. As for the food, the French toast is supper sweet. Or maybe I should say cloying. The scramble egg is like a egg pancake, rather than scramble. Coffee is not hot. Won’t go there again.

Man behind the Man behind the counter was very rude to me. Treated me like I was a piece of nothing trash. I go in there all the time and eat all the time and trying to tell me that they don’t have whip cream for the hot chocolate which I always get when I go in there and I’ll even show you my menu that it was put on there he gave me a pastry that was old to sit there all day. I went in about 430 just before you guys were closing, never looked at me in the face and then I asked for hot chocolate he put it at the other end instead of handing it to me what she saw, I don’t Walker, but I don’t know. I would never go back in there. I hated the service there is one guy that works in the cafeteria. That’s very very nice but this guy was horrible. Horrible horrible horrible.

Looking at the photos of the place and food, wanted to try this out for a long time. First time we went close to closing time around 4.45PM. 9 months pregnant and very hungry, went with our toddler. They said no food was available as kitchen closes 12 minutes before closing time. We left and came back the next day around 4.15pm, almost 45 minutes before closing time. Again they said no food available, and we reminded them about the 12 minute closing window they mentioned previous day, the guy says "it's all up in the air, the chef decides when to close". Very disappointed with this kind of answer and service. Never going back.

Horrible service coming from that Indian dude . Coffee is no good and the vibe sucks . Not like sujuus at all . Feels like you are doing work in the middle of Costco freezer section . Will not come back . Over priced . Not worth it

What kind of coffee shop doesn't offer sugar after charging $7 for a small coffee? Instead use simple syrup? seriously? To the Owner: This is the most disgusting way to save, if you are so cheap about not serving sugar i'm curious what cheap beans are you using for coffee? Bdw: the coffee was so bad, cleaning table took 15 min after asking twice. Now I see how coffee shops go out of business

S
Sunny Yan

Terrible experience. The ordering process was extremely slow, and they even spilled my coffee. But the worst part was the service attitude. The coffee was way too bitter, so I politely asked for a little milk. The female staff told me to wait, then checked with another male staff member, who didn’t explain anything—just flat out refused. No apology, no respect. This is the first time I’ve ever felt so disrespected at a café. At a good coffee shop, if the customer isn’t happy with their drink, they would even remake it. Here, they wouldn’t even give me a splash of milk. I will never come back.

The 4-star reviews on this place is mostly reflecting the food truck outside that serves amazing food and has good people working in the truck. The devout coffee cafe workers inside are terrible. Served cold coffee by very grumpy staff who do not smile, greet you, or have proper manners. So why do they come to work there? There are other places to work. Devout coffee fremont has the worse vibe ever. The workers there either need to be fired or completely rebrand themselves. Their hours are struggling hours already, they wont last long because they got the wrong people working inside the cafe.
