We visited for a Sunday dine-in lunch. The food is always reliable at Sala Thai. Our favorite dish is the Crispy Fish with Sweet Garlic Sauce. The battered fish is fresh and pairs perfectly with the sauce. You also cannot go wrong with the chicken Pad Thai, which was flavorful and delicious. The photos I took do not do the food justice because we started eating immediately. We also ordered the Shrimp Tom Yum soup. It was decent, though I have had better versions elsewhere. The atmosphere is quite noisy and busy. Despite the high volume of patrons, the servers did a great job. Overall, this is a solid spot with great food.
We visited this Thai restaurant on a Wednesday night and it was a full hours! But the waitress and kitchen worked very efficiently the entire time during our meal! We ordered 10 dishes amount 8 of us. If you ever coming to have a meal, please don’t miss their crispy garlic fish. We ordered three of those and we ate them all! Their curry was delicious, full of the flavors, not spicy, you can taste the coconut and basil, which is the way my wife and I like it! We will be back for sure. The photos of the restaurant are downloaded from their FB page.
Met my family here for lunch and we had a great experience. None of us live in the surrounding neighborhoods but we all dined at all Sala Thai locations in the past. To order, scan the QR code on the table and pay. Which is odd because you submit your payment and tip before table service. Anyway, the service was quick and the wait staff were all friendly and very helpful. We ordered pad thai, angel wings, pork ribs, fried fish and mango with sticky rice. Everyone really enjoyed their choices. The food was steaming hot and fresh. The fish was fried perfectly. Crunchy on the outside and flaky on the inside. The ribs were so tender. The pad thai was awesome. The noodles were stir fried flawlessly and had plenty of veggies. Hopefully we'll be able to return soon!

Food and service were great. We tried all tofu options. Group of 10, all happy and content
One of my favorite Thai places in Fremont, the crispy garlic fish is a must! That's actually what got me to eating thai food for the first time ever!
I tried takeout from here on a Friday evening. I got the spring rolls, drunken noodles and red curry. I love the spring rolls from here. The crunch..the filling.. amazing 💯 Spring Rolls from here are a must try. The drunken noodles and curry is a good combo. I was feeling adventurous so I tried the medium spice and boy was it spicy. But it was spicy good 👍🏽 The noodles were well cooked, the veggies were crunchy and cooked and the sauce was delicious 😋 Overall - Sala Thai is a must visit place
Great spot for authentic flavors! We ordered the Drunken Noodles, Basil Fried Rice, and Mango Sticky Rice. All the dishes were very good and hit the spot. The ambience is just okay—nothing fancy—but the food definitely makes up for it. I would come back just for the food.
We ordered Angel Wings, Drunken Noodles, and Pineapple Fried Rice. The Angel Wings were crispy and tasty. The Drunken Noodles and fried rice were good as well, though a bit too salty and saucy for my taste. I’d still come back to try other dishes. The restaurant is spacious, I barely had to wait even during peak dinner hours, and the staff was very attentive. The food also came out fairly quickly.
This has been a locals favorite for a long time and i can see why! A pretty extensive menu with almost no faults in any of its dishes! From the beef BBQ to their curry to their fish and tom yum soup, it seems everything they do here has a lot of flavor and taste and even a little bit of spice if you even ask for it! At the time we came around 6:00 p.m. there wasn't too many people sitting down, however by the time it was 7:00 there was a quite a little line starting to form up. As the people started to gather and fill in the tables, service started to slow down considerably. Such as some dishes not coming out at the same time or even the fact some of the white rice and water even ran out midway through the meal and waited at least 10 mins for them to appear. However, the wait is definitely worth it, especially for the beef BBQ and even the duck Curry that I tried which had a lot of flavor in both of them! Even the deep fried fish was also really good with bamboo that was a little bit spicy. Keep in mind most of the menu items are all served family style so I highly suggest that you either maybe get 3-5 bowls of white rice to complement your meal but at $4 its a tall task. I can understand the prices on some of the other menu items but every item tastes super fragrant and even a little sweet at times for both and their seasoned very well! The pineapple fried rice was also really amazing as well! Service, when they did appear, was pretty straightforward and I was very glad they were transparent about what was going on with any sort of delays as well as checking up on us once in a while. The decorations are pretty muted inside, however I think it looks like they have some sort of soundproofing around either near the windows or maybe on the roof due to some special looking foam, I thought that was pretty nice but it also contributed how well nicely laid out. The entire area is with the thai decorations and Buddhist areas around! Overall its not as bad thai restaurant in this centre area of Fremont, especially if you have a bigger group. However, they do charge a 14% service charge for 4 or more people so do adjust your tip if necessary.
Food: read the reviews and decided to come here for our Thai food craving. It was very busy at 7:30. The food came really quick after we ordered and I have to say this is probably by far the best Tom Kha soup I’ve had in Bay Area. Most of theirs dishes can order with your choice of meat. I usually don’t like curry but the red curry we ordered is pretty nice. The eggplant with beef is my favorite! Definitely would wanna come back and try more. Service: the staff are still helpful even they are busy all the time. Ambiance: casual family or friend meetups are suitable
This was our second try at sala Thai after almost an year. We felt the difference in food quality. Our order usually remains the same, pad Thai veg and chicken. But this time, we also tried yellow curry and rice, which was refreshing and aromatic. Chicken tasted amazing. The small portion of soup was enough for two people as appetisers. It was hearty addition to entire meal. Another order was pad Thai tofu. It had dress veggies, tasted good and was medium spicy. Portion size and overall the amount of tofu added in the dish would have been more. Especially considering the price of the dish but it tasted nice. The service was good despite being sort of a rush hour. Order arrived quickly. There was some delay in bringing the bill/ cheque to us but otherwise service was great. Atmosphere was cozy and there were a lot of people in the hall. And even more waiting outside to be seated. So I would say the place is popular among people. But the place had a calm vibe to it despite that many people being at one place. Overall, the experience was good and we’ll definitely give it try sometime later. Hope you enjoy this place too! Cheers 🥂
The food is good, but I would say, not very authentic Thai. The service is amazing. We came at 6 pm on a Saturday and it was crowded but the waiter and waitress are super friendly. I had the pineapple fried rice, I think it is a little too much "tumeric" flavor and not much of the authentic "pineapple". The tom yum soup is amazing and I recommend to order a bowl of rice to go with it. The angel wing is fun to eat. A little note is that they don't accept Apple Pay so bring you card or cash.
The food was delicious! We were able to make a reservation for 7 people and were seated right away. We ordered and the food came out within minutes. Added more to our order and that food came out fast as well. Excellent service, good size portions. I gave 3 stars for atmosphere only because there was a screaming child 80% of the time we were there. It’s loud and everything moves quickly. Not a quiet dinner place but definitely will be ordering from here in the near future.
We went on a Saturday evening before 7:30 pm. The place was crowded. Luckily we got a seat in 5-7 minutes. We ordered within 5 minutes of being seated. The wait for food was long( 25-30 minutes) because of the crowd. We ordered Tom Yum Soup, Pad Kee Mao, Thai Green Curry and Thai iced tea. The portions were less. Taste was good. I liked their Iced Tea.

Great thai food evidenced by the restaurant being packed when it should be. Tables are closely placed with a vibrant open atmosphere that is a bit loud for some.

I've been going here for years . It's always busy so go early expect to wait. The food always hit the spot.

We felt SO rushed to leave at this place! That was strange considering there wasn’t a queue outside, nobody was waiting for a table. We weren’t done, and the servers seemed to be in a hurry to remove the plates! The Thai iced coffee wasn’t too sweet, it had some kind of flavor. The jolt of caffeine was missing. The crab fried rice was pretty good. The curries were mild and sweet .
Came here on my break for a pick-up, before they closed. service was good but could be better. Seems like they were annoyed that I wasn't prepared with the phone number for the person that ordered …
Food is decent but prices are not. Service is a little cold not as helpful or friendly as others. The BBQ steak was delicious a little over cooked but very tasty. The sauces in disposable cups on your plate and plastic plates to boot. For a sit down place the service game needs help, don't like feeling like a burden.
I hadn’t been back here since before the pandemic, when this place was at least decent. Fast forward to now and wow — what a disappointment. Sure, the food tastes fine. But that’s where the positives end. The portions are a rip-off for the prices they charge, and you walk out feeling cheated. Roti Canai appetizer: $7.50 for a laughably tiny portion. Blink and you’ll miss it. Pineapple fried rice: Flavor was decent, but the serving size was closer to 75% of what any reasonable Thai restaurant would give you. Rice sides: $5 for a small bowl of garlic rice, $3 for plain white rice — seriously? That’s highway robbery. This place is cashing in on higher prices while shamelessly cutting back on portions. With so many other Thai spots around, there’s zero reason to waste your money here. I’m sorry, but this place isn’t even worthy of a 3.5, let alone the 4.2 it somehow has. Bottom line: Good taste can’t make up for being nickel-and-dimed at every turn. Unless you like paying premium prices for kid-sized portions, avoid this place.
This review is for Sala Thai on Walnut Ave. it has the most disgusting restrooms ever. And if you go to the restroom before eating, you will not be able to eat anything. It doesn't matter how good …
This place used to be decent years ago. I started dining back there last summer when I had a guest out of town who wanted to eat Thai food. We were all disappointed at how the quality of food had become subpar. We went back again in Oct, 2025 thinking it might just be the cook, having a bad day, still the same observation. My cousin from San Jose who loves Krung Thai restaurant thought we should try again. Big disappointment Mango chicken was bland, roti was greasy, Eggplant salad was “soupy”. Pineapple fried rice was just ok and serving was tiny. The only saving grace was the fried fish with sweet chili sauce. The service was bad. The waitress seemed to be surprised when we asked for spoons, as we only had forks. In any Asian cuisine that doesn’t require the use of chopsticks and you have rice or anything with soup, you NEED spoon?! Worst is when we got served mango sticky rice with “cubed” frozen mangoes. Never mind that the aesthetics side of how they present their food is probably zero, but to be expected for a customer to actually eat that? We complained , refused to eat it and still got it on our bill. Waitress said it’s because you ate it. Yes, we tasted it and would have tried but could not bec it was FROZEN, cubed you won’t be able to spoon it with the sticky rice. They begrudgingly apologized but looked at us like they couldn’t believed it was a big deal. I will never come back to the worst Thai restaurant I’ve ever been!
We have visited this restaurant many times and always enjoyed the food, but after our recent visit we will not return. I came in with my family, including my 2yr old. She became upset for under a minute because she was hungry. Almost immediately, the head server approached us and asked me to take my child outside because she was disturbing the ambience after another customer complained. This was incredibly disappointing and hurtful as a parent. This is not an adults-only fine dining restaurant, and families should not be made to feel unwelcome. Children cry briefly sometimes which is normal and the restaurant itself was loud with music and conversation. Instead of supporting a parent or handling the complaining customer better, the staff chose to embarrass us and push us out. Whether intentional or not, the treatment felt discriminatory and hostile toward families. This restaurant is not kid-friendly, and we will not return.
