My husband and I came to The Trick Rider to celebrate our anniversary, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. The food, the ambiance, and the service were all incredible — but what made the night absolutely special was Chef John. He personally came out to our table, took the time to explain each dish, and made us feel so genuinely cared for. You can tell he pours his heart into what he does. Every recommendation he gave us was spot on — some of the best dishes we’ve ever had. His kindness and attention to detail made the evening so meaningful that I actually teared up. Thank you, Chef John, for making our anniversary dinner so special. We’ll definitely be back soon!
I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. The ambience was incredible and the horse chandelier immediately set the tone with its striking design. The hosts were amazing and you can tell they are experienced because everything you need arrives quickly without you ever having to wait. The starters were out of this world and the main course was even better, which made the entire meal feel truly special. The decor, both indoors and outdoors, added to the overall charm and made the visit feel memorable. Parking is the only inconvenience since there is no free option and paying to park can be a challenge. Thankfully the valet service was great and very courteous, which made things much easier. This is a place I will gladly recommend and I am sure I will go again.
From start to finish, this was an absolutely amazing experience. The service was excellent, the atmosphere was welcoming, but the real star of the night was the steak. Hands down the best steak I’ve ever had — perfectly cooked, tender, juicy, and packed with flavor in every bite. You can tell they use top-quality cuts and know exactly how to prepare them. Truly unforgettable. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. This will definitely be my go-to spot for steak from now on!
Our family of four recently dined at Trick Rider, nestled inside the stunning PGA Frisco Hotel, and we can confidently say this was one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in quite some time. 🕯️ Ambiance & First Impressions From the moment we arrived, the service was prompt and professional. We had dinner reservations and were seated within minutes of checking in—no long waits, no chaos, just smooth, high-end hospitality. The interior is modern, stylish, and elegant, making it perfect for both family celebrations and romantic evenings. While the lighting inside the restaurant is on the darker side—slightly more than we prefer—it adds a moody, luxurious vibe that fits the venue. 🥖 Appetizers & Bread Service Now, let me start by saying this—I’m not typically a bread eater. But Trick Rider’s bread? Incredible. Warm, fresh, and flavorful enough to make even a bread skeptic reach for a second (or third) piece. The calamari appetizer was equally impressive—light, crispy, and expertly seasoned. It was a perfect way to kick off the meal. 🥗 Hearty Caesar Salad We also ordered the Caesar salad, and wow—it’s not your typical starter portion. It’s hearty and generous, easily enough for two or three people to share. The flavor is bold and rich, thanks to a heavy-handed Caesar dressing. If you’re not into strong dressings, it may be a bit much, but we absolutely enjoyed it. It added great balance to the richness of the main course. 🥩 Main Course – The Trio Steak Sampler If you try only one thing at Trick Rider, let it be the Trio Steak Sampler. Every cut of steak was seared to perfection—tender, juicy, and seasoned just right. The garlic mashed potatoes that came with it were possibly the best I’ve ever had at a restaurant—buttery, creamy, with just the right amount of garlic to make each bite pop. While the steak portions might look modest at first glance, they are surprisingly filling and worked out perfectly for our party of four. 🍸 Signature Drink – “All She Wrote” We couldn’t pass up the opportunity to try one of their specialty cocktails, and we’re so glad we didn’t. The “All She Wrote” is a clever, elevated blend of bourbon, Grand Marnier, and vanilla. It’s smooth, warming, and balanced with a hint of sweetness that makes it both approachable and bold. We thoroughly enjoyed this drink—it felt like a custom-crafted cocktail experience all on its own. 🍰 Dessert – Massive Carrot Cake Even after a satisfying meal, we couldn’t resist checking out the dessert menu—and we’re so glad we did. We ordered the carrot cake, and let me just say—it’s HUGE. The portion easily feeds three to four people. It’s moist, spiced beautifully, and layered with rich cream cheese frosting. It was the perfect sweet ending to a perfect night. ✅ Final Thoughts From start to finish, Trick Rider delivered a five-star dining experience. The service was seamless, the food was memorable, and the atmosphere elevated the entire evening. Whether you’re staying at the PGA Frisco Hotel or just in the area looking for a refined dining spot, Trick Rider is a must-visit. If you’re celebrating, hosting out-of-town guests, or just want to enjoy incredible food in a beautiful setting, make your reservation and treat yourself—you won’t regret it.
My boyfriend and I went to Trick Rider back in February to celebrate our anniversary and the food was amazing but what I was really blown away by was the service by Steve!! This review is so overdue, but the fact that I still remember him after all these months is a true testament to his awesome service. He really made our night special and went above and beyond.
The food was delicious. The dining area was very loud. The portion sizes left much to be desired. Which made the overall perception diminishes value of the meal. But it was Christmas Eve and we had a good time.
Our favorite place for date night. Food is incredible! I had the Mac and cheese this time. I’ve never tasted anything so good! We had wedge salads and the presentation was fabulous and the dressing was to die for! My bf got the salmon and loved it. Service fantastic! We will always go back!
Trick Rider – 5 Stars Trick Rider isn’t just a steakhouse—it’s an experience. The theme and design are impressive, and it fits right in at the Omni PGA in Frisco. My wife and I live local and dropped in for a date night. We sat at the bar, which is always the best way to get the vibe of a place—and this one delivered. The bartenders? Total pros. They handled nonstop drink orders for the whole restaurant with absolute precision. From cocktails to straight pours, everything came out smooth, fast, and well-crafted. It’s the kind of bar team that gives you confidence the whole place is running right. We enjoyed it so much we texted friends while still sitting there to set up a happy hour to come back. Now the food: We started with salads—her Caesar and my wedge (ranch instead of blue cheese, the way a ranch-style steakhouse should do it). Both were excellent and fresh. Steaks were next—ribeye for me, filet for her. I asked for mine “Pittsburgh style,” which is charred outside and rare inside—a hard cook to pull off. They nailed it. Flavors were a little different than expected—less buttery rosemary, more bold and slightly bitter spice—but still delicious. I ate every bite. If I had one minor gripe, it’s the attire. I expected golf wear at a PGA resort, but was surprised by the number of ball caps, T-shirts, and tennis shoes. We came dressed in sport coats and cowboy hats, and honestly, the space deserves that kind of respect. Bottom line: Trick Rider is a Frisco gem. Whether you’re local or just visiting the PGA, stop in for a drink or dinner. You won’t be disappointed.
I had an outstanding experience at Trick Rider! The service was truly top-notch, and the food was excellent. A special shoutout to Cameron—he is one of the hardest workers I’ve seen in this industry in a long time. His professionalism, attentiveness, and dedication to great service were beyond impressive. He went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect, and his positive attitude made the experience even better. Keep mentoring him—he has a bright future ahead! Also, huge compliments to the Omni for going all out for Valentine's Day. The atmosphere was elegant and thoughtfully curated, making for a truly special evening. Looking forward to my next visit!
Went to tea service and it was delicious! Live music was amazing and desserts were great! Server Jax was awesome! Definitely will return
Trick Rider is an exceptional upscale restaurant, perfect for a special dinner or date night. The atmosphere is elegant yet inviting, making it an ideal spot for a memorable evening. From start to finish, the experience was top-notch. The food was outstanding—everything was cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. I had one of the best steaks of my life, perfectly seasoned and incredibly tender. The attention to detail in every dish was evident. Adding to the experience, Trick Rider’s unique house-made drinks made the night even more fun. Each cocktail was creative, expertly crafted, and full of flavor, making them the perfect complement to the meal. Our server, Steve, provided impeccable service, ensuring we had everything we needed without being intrusive. His professionalism and attentiveness elevated the entire experience. If you’re looking for a high-end dining experience with phenomenal food, drinks, and service, Trick Rider is an excellent choice! Trick Rider – A Must-Visit Gem in Frisco Hands down my favorite restaurant! This was our second time dining at Trick Rider, and we chose it to celebrate our anniversary with the whole family—and it did not disappoint. The highlight of the meal was the 12 oz Wagyu Delmonico, easily the best steak I’ve ever had. We also indulged in the Grand Wagyu Tasting, which featured an incredible lineup: short rib, New York strip, and spinalis—each bite was rich, tender, and full of flavor. We rounded out the mains with an additional NY strip, paired with a classic wedge salad. For sides, the grilled asparagus, potatoes, and mac and cheese whiz were off the charts. Every dish was thoughtfully prepared and bursting with flavor. To top off an already amazing meal, we ordered the Holy Sundae for dessert. It was a blast—super fun and definitely the kids’ favorite part of the night. The staff was outstanding—warm, knowledgeable, and made us feel like VIPs from start to finish. Trick Rider is not just a dinner, it’s an experience. If you’re anywhere near the Frisco area, this place is a must stop!
The Omni PGA Frisco is a great destination spot even just for drinks in the lobby and out on the patio. Had a birthday celebration at Trick Rider. The 6 oz filet, whipped & potatoes were great. Mac & cheese was alright. The sides are "for the table" but honestly portions were small enough to be personal portions. Had the special birthday dessert with the fun giant candle. It was all kinds of yummy with ice cream and pop corn. Good spot for a one time special occasion or for hotel guests but don't plan to return as a local based on prices/portion sizes.
Food is outstanding!!! Please note though if you have a large group you will have a restricted menu. This caught us off guard as we had a group of 14 who were all excited to try Trick Rider. Besides that the food is amazing! Orders were all correct, attentive but you can see they are still a little bit understaffed but this will improve as the flow of customers increases and the staffing levels increase accordingly. Drinks came out a bit slow but overall a great place to eat we will definitely go again! Bone in ribeye is probably one of the top 2-3 steaks we have ever had!
Crab & Crystals 🦀 💎 Let’s start with the ambience, because yes, they nailed it. You walk in and boom, there’s a crystal horse just hanging as the fabulous focus. It’s dramatic. It’s glamorous. It’s giving “yes, I sparkle and I’m expensive.” This is a 16-foot-long, 9-foot-high Swarovski crystal chandelier designed by Jeffrey Beers International, featuring 4,075 bohemian cut crystal beads and weighing 1,500 pounds. Now onto the food…specifically, the king crab! Life-changing. I’m not saying I fell in love, but I am saying if that crab proposed to me, I’d say yes without hesitation. Forget love languages, mine is clearly butter-drenched shellfish, and Trick Rider understood the assignment. Also, I ordered asparagus because I needed to pretend I’m a responsible adult who eats green things, and wow, I did not share. Not one spear. Don’t look at me like that; it was too good and frankly, I have no regrets. Pro tip? Ask for two orders of bread. Just do it. Trust me. You’ll thank me later when you’re hoarding it like it’s your last meal on Earth. It’s warm, it’s fluffy, it’s probably laced with magic. And, you have a plate of butter from your king crab. Show up hungry, leave dramatic. Just like that crystal horse would want.
Great service here, awesome vibes, good drinks and good food. A bit pricey but as expected for a nice place like this. Complimentary valet available.
First time at Trick Rider and it was such a treat! The atmosphere, food and service made for a well-rounded experience. Sean gave us some excellent recommendations. Some of my favorites were the mashed potatoes, carrot cake and the 6oz petite filet -- I'm still thinking about that steak 2 days later 🤤
Great food. Amazing staff. Beautiful restaurant. We made reservations here for my wife’s 40th birthday about a week and a half ago to get the early 5:00 pm slot since we have two young children. We showed up about 10 minutes early and parked with valet who reminded us to validate our parking. Super friendly and helpful team. Upon arrival inside at Trick Rider, we sat up front in and enjoyed lots of Mary Ann Mayfield history and stories while the restaurant opened. Absolutely loved the decor of this restaurant! Once 5 pm rolled around, we were taken back to a back corner booth, which is perfect for a family with two young kids. Our server was Diego and he was perfect. Super friendly, personable, knowledgeable of the menu, and very prompt of taking care of every want for us. Diego even brought out a little toy duck for our baby to play with during the meal. Then, at the end he gave orur oldest kid a duck to-go. Can't say enough good things about Diego. After asking if any specials were available, to which there wasn’t, we started with the crispy artichokes and a beet salad. While our appetizers were coming, they brought us the kid-calming-down-bread, which was so warm and fluffy and served with butter, and ahhh. Since we were celebrating, my wife had her a Ketel One dirty martini and I had a Voodoo Ranger IPA. The artichokes were served with a citrus aioli that was spot on with just a touch of rosemary. I gobbled up a whole artichoke myself. Her salad was a very generous serving and very fresh and tasty, which had some amazing candied walnuts. For the main course, I had the Whole Branzino while my wife had the Salmon. My branzino was great. Crispy skin cooked to perfection and clean fresh meat. After a few bites, I wasn’t digging the overall taste of the fish, but pulled the skin off and everything was much better. Credit to Diego for mentioning that some people don’t like the taste of the skin of this fish. My wife loved the taste of the salmon, but felt that it was cooked in too much butter/oil. For sides we had french fries, macaroni and cheese, and asparagus. All of them were tasty, but the macaroni was absolutely delicious. For my dinner cocktail, I went with the Eagle Rare 10 year bourbon. Just as Diego mentioned, this is a very flavorful aged bourbon, but absolutely smooth. For dessert, we ordered the carrot cake. However, after we ordered the cake, our youngest was starting to get antsy, so I went over to Diego and asked for it to-go since baby wasn't going to be happy, to which he immediately obliged. Then a couple minutes later, they served us complimentary champagne and passionfruit sorbet for my wife's birthday. My favorite fruit is passionfruit, so this was the best tastiest surprise treat ever! And once we got home, we are the carrot cake and it was perfect and even was topped with gold! Highly recommend this place does any special occasion dinner.
We visited for the first time while staying at the resort for our anniversary dinner. The cocktails were unique and very good. The steak selections and quality were excellent and cooked perfectly as ordered. Our server, Diego, was very knowledgeable, friendly and attentive to make sure everything was excellent. The dessert chocolate silk pie was phenomenal. We enjoyed the beautiful and unique decor and had a fantastic experience.
Excellent. Atmosphere, Decor and service are even better than expected. Steak was best I remember having in a really long time.
Fantastic service, food and ambiance. Wonderful birthday dinner with my favorite person.
I came for dinner here with a friend because she loves steak and I’ve heard this is a good steak house. The wine selection is excellent and the service is excellent and my friend thought her steak was good but I don’t think she thought it was amazing. I’m struggling to remember what I ordered so perhaps my food wasn’t memorable. Or maybe I just forgot because I’m not a huge fan of fancy restaurants or steak dinners. I probably had fish and it was probably pretty good. Truth be told, I’m typically much more interested in the company than the food we have and since I had such great company that night, let’s go with five stars. One bit of advice to the owners of this restaurant: maybe you should consider putting a sign over the door to help people find the place. I walked by several times thinking the door was to a closet and not the actual restaurant. Michael Delehanty Compass Real Estate
We came here for Valentine's dinner and we had a spectacular time! I was a bit nervous given all the mixed google reviews, but I highly recommend this spot after our experience here. The service was absolutely amazing, our food was paced out perfectly and our water glasses were never low. Roasted oyster appetizer came out sizzling and the flavors were amazing. We did the ribeye with fries and mac and cheese and it was perfect. The interior of this restaurant is also stunning. Our meal was definitely pricey, but given the quality of the food and service, it was worth it! We look forward to coming back for a meal and this would also be a great spot for a drink. The bar and chandelier is amazing!
Just amazing... Top notch service, fantastic atmosphere, incredible food. Thank you, Gina and staff for a phenomenal night! I love that this place is in Frisco.
The service was top notch. It was my birthday and my amazing husband made arrangements for us to stay at the beautiful Omni Frisco Resort, where we ate dinner at the Trick Rider restaurant. Very welcoming and accommodating personnel including Swetha, Diego, and all her staff. Each course was delicious. Wonderfully pleasant dining experience all around.
The bread appetizer was so good and the drinks here were amazing
Trick Rider stakes its claim as a premier steak and seafood destination with an experience that delights both the palate and the senses. The moment you step into the restaurant, the ambiance envelops you. The striking crystal horse suspended above the bar is a showpiece—a dazzling centerpiece that draws the eye and beckons for a photo, setting the tone for what is to come. The noise level, while lively, fades into a quieter hum after 9 PM, allowing for a more intimate dining experience. Celebrating an anniversary, we were warmly greeted with a glass of champagne, a gesture that speaks to Trick Rider’s keen sense of hospitality. The menu, though focused, strikes a balance between simplicity and indulgence, offering an expertly curated selection of steak and seafood. We began with the shrimp cocktail and the tuna tartare. While the shrimp cocktail delivered on freshness and classic execution, it was the tuna tartare that truly shone. Silky, vibrant, and seasoned to perfection, it set a high bar for the courses that followed. For our main dishes, we opted for the petite filet mignon and the Delmonico. Both steaks arrived flawlessly medium-rare, with a depth of seasoning that allowed the natural flavors of the meat to take center stage. Our decision to upgrade to a full lobster portion, at the suggestion of our knowledgeable server, was well rewarded. The lobster, tender and sweet, exceeded expectations—even for those with a discerning New England palate. The side dishes were equally noteworthy. The broccolini was crisp and flavorful, while the mashed potatoes offered the perfect creamy complement to the meal. Even something as seemingly simple as the bread and salted butter at the beginning of the meal was executed with care, leaving a lasting impression. Service at Trick Rider is not only attentive but also intuitive. Our server Diego, doubled as a skilled photographer, capturing a perfect moment in front of the crystal horse—a thoughtful touch that elevated the evening. The meal concluded with a refreshing passionfruit sorbet, accompanied by a delicate anniversary chocolate label, an ideal way to end an unforgettable evening. Trick Rider succeeds in blending impeccable cuisine with an atmosphere that feels celebratory and special. For those seeking an exceptional dining experience, Trick Rider will more than satisfy.
We had our company Christmas party here last night, and it was hands-down the best food and service we’ve ever had. Kara was our server, and she truly went above and beyond to make the whole evening great. From her friendly attitude to her attentiveness and spot-on recommendations, she absolutely made the night for us. Highly recommend this place for any special occasion!
Updated review: Our return experience at Trick Rider was exceptional. Everyone was incredibly attentive, and Caio and Madison stood out for their professionalism and warmth. The service was seamless, the atmosphere sophisticated yet comfortable, and the burrata and branzino stood out as truly delicious. We had a wonderful time and look forward to returning.
Perfection!! Thankfully our family of 5 chose Trick Rider for our daughter’s 21st birthday celebration! Our server, Arcadio, ensured every detail was absolutely perfect! From the second he greeted us at our table we knew we were in the best hands, and we were right. He walked us through some highlights on the impressive menu, he was attentive, and we thoroughly enjoyed his presence throughout the evening! Truly a one of a kind server who created the perfect evening for our family! Special shoutout to Cameron who was also super attentive to our group! The food was outstanding! We enjoyed every bite! Seemingly familiar dishes surprised us with unique and special touches unlike anything we have ever had, creating a memorable meal and an experience unlike any other. The restaurant is absolutely gorgeous too! Every detail is so mindful, we enjoyed taking it all in. Trick Rider will be our go-to for those evenings that call for all the special details, we are so lucky to have an upscale restaurant of this quality in the Frisco area!
We had afternoon tea service here and it was great. The tea was great but the sandwiches, scones, pastries were fantastic. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Will definitely come again
I loved it. Beautiful place, good atmosphere with live music. I ordered salmon, carrots, mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese. It was so good I’m still thinking about how perfect the meal was prepared. The salmon was perfectly cooked, good flavor and texture. The Mac was full of flavor. The potatoes were so good, I didn’t expect to eat them but I ate them all…the carrots were ok but i would order again. Weeks later and I remember my entire meal.
We had an incredible New Year’s dinner at Trick Rider in Frisco, and it was truly unforgettable. Chef Johnny Shaw absolutely knocked it out of the park. Every course was beautifully presented, thoughtfully curated, and packed with flavor—you could tell so much intention and creativity went into the menu. The service was impeccable, the pacing was perfect for a special evening, and the atmosphere felt both elevated and welcoming. It was the perfect way to ring in the New Year, and Chef Johnny Shaw made it feel like a true culinary experience rather than just a meal. We’ll definitely be back and highly recommend Trick Rider to anyone looking for something special.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at TR and I can confidently say it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The moment I walked in, I was greeted by a warm ambiance featuring dim lighting and elegant decor, which set the perfect tone for the evening. The food—wow! I started with the Oysters/calamari which was delicious and beautifully plated. For the main course, I had the salmon and it was cooked to perfection. Everything was well seasoned and was outstanding. And the BREAD…. No words for how divine it was. Great food, great service and great wine!
The decor was very nice, although my wife made a remark that it looked almost too much like Las Vegas. It is a nice, dressy place for a date night. The steaks were fantastic/excellent – cooked to perfection. Unfortunately, our server let us down big time. The time for him to come to our table and ask if we wanted drinks, was a long time. We told him that we could go ahead and order our bottle of wine and dinner at the same time. Before we had time to sip and taste our wine, the food/steaks immediately came. We literally had our dinner served within 15 minutes of us being at the restaurant. That was very disappointing. The manager came by and was very sorry for what had occurred, and she offered to buy us a complementary dessert, which turned out to be delicious. With the exception of the service, Trick Rider is an excellent director.
Had a very nice anniversary dinner during our first visit to Trick Rider. Service was A+. Food was A+. Evening A+. My only dislike was the loud atmosphere…we had a beautiful steakhouse where we lived before and it had dividers to break up the noise. Between the noise of the bar and just the general chatter of a restaurant, it was hard to visit with our guests who joined us. Maybe for the two of us it would work, but it would be difficult to dine here as a large group because of the loud environment. But the food and service were great!
We visited for a celebration and got reservations easily. We had excellent service and loved the atmosphere, but the pork chop fell short - overly salted and overcooked. We let our waitress know when she checked on us and made it right. They offered another entree but we were stuffed. Every other menu item she recommended was amazing! We will be back to dine on another special occasion.
Life is about experiences and sharing those experiences with others makes it fulfilling. My girlfriends and I truly enjoyed our monthly dinner at Trick Rider at the Omni Resort in Frisco. From the moment I pull into valet, to the post dinner tour given by one of the staff members; everything was top-notch. The restaurant itself is absolutely beautiful; loved the crystal spheres chandelier hanging over the bar. The main reason for my 4-star review is they wanted to seat us in the back of the restaurant near the kitchen entrance. Those who follow me know this is unacceptable. This chocolate beauty will not be seated in the back of any restaurant. 💋 I ordered the 1/2 rack of lamb while my girlfriends ordered their usual steaks. The lamb was seasoned to perfection however I asked for medium-rare but there was absolutely no pink. I would consider the temperature medium, bordering well-done. Two of my favorite wines are Pessimist and Conundrum. Trick Rider offered Pessimist so I was a happy camper. It paired perfectly with my lamb. 🍷 After we walked the property boasting numerous pools and manicure lawns, us women enjoyed a glass of wine under dark skies. There was enough landscape and pool lighting to create the best finish to our wonderful dinner engagement. I will return!💕
Food was good, fun atmosphere, playful wait staff. I’m a fan of Nick and Sam’s, Pappas, so I kinda compare food/service to them. Ribeye and Salmon was excellent and cooked to order- menu a bit limited. TR was close but a little overpriced in That’s not being would go back again since I live close. Wish I had pics of the Salmon and drinks and deserts.
Decided to try Trick Rider for my 21st wedding anniversary dinner and it did not let us down. We arrived for dinner and had a hard time finding the actual restaurant as it’s lacking good signage at PGA Frisco but after some help we were guided to a pair of wooden doors that led us in almost like a speak easy. Staff greeted us and the ambiance was great. There is a massive crystal light fixture in the shape of a horse hanging above the bar that is incredible. Our waiter greeted us with champagne and we appreciated the effort but we do not drink and told him abruptly. He apologized and took the champagne away and said they do it for anniversary dinners and again, we appreciated the efforts. My wife and I both ordered filet mignon steaks which were cooked to perfection; juicy and succulent. We also shared an asparagus order that was good but a little too thick for our liking (smaller diameter asparagus just tastes better but they did a great job with flavor). For dessert we share a slice of wood chocolate pie which was exceptional, as was the passion fruit sorbet. Staff kept our sparkling water filled non stop and attended to us very well without being overbearing. The GM also approached me by name and we had a great conversation together. We will return! Tips: if you use the roundabout valet parking, when you enter the building take an immediate left to the end of the halls where the two wooden doors are and that’s the Restaurant.
This is a 4 star entirely based on the change of the carrot cake. Food is great, bar is fun drinks delicious would come here for the carrot cake. Sadly it is no longer the same nee version is a 1 to what was a 10.
I enjoyed my drink and the oysters. I didn’t like my shrimp or calamari. It’s a bit pricey and the food didn’t taste fresh. I eat seafood often and was shocked by the quality of seafood here. I may give them one more try. The drinks were decent. It’s pretty inside also.
Service was fantastic! Sadly though some of the food was sub par. The artichoke appetizer was WAY to charred. The beef tartare was awful, crazy crazy salty.......and yes, people.....I love salt!!! However, the broccolini was delicious and my husband's filet was also delicious. I had the King Crab.......let's face it, you can't mess up a King Crab....I just wish the portion was more! You essentially pay $80 for what a picky 2 year old child would eat !! Over all, we will absolutely be going back!!
Me and my friend ate at the bar last weekend, and was ignored from the beginning to the end by the arrogant or stupid bartender. Maybe because we are Asian? Food was delicious, but there was no service at all. We waited for more than an hour before any food was brought to us. Yet we still tipped 20%, because we Asians are decent people.
Great ambience and service. The steaks were disappointing, small and over salted , we could barely taste the meat due to the salt. We did appreciate the beautiful ambience and faultless service. Sadly even the a la carte sauces were tiny portions, not enough for my huaband and I. Dessert which they graciously gifted to us for our anniversary? Also tiny. For what they charge these missteps stung. So overall we had a good experience from an ambience snd vibes perspective. But will we back for other celebrations and special moments? Probably not.
The facility is lovely! The service definitely needs work. The 2 restrooms were being cleaned at noon (Not due to an issue) Just lack of thinking it through. More importantly, the service for our group of 10 with inconsistent. ( We were served in waves), The weight staff did not return to the table with requested items in a timely manner ( ice, sugar..) It was not busy enough to justify this type of service. Again, the restaurant aesthetics are nice. Hoping the service can rise to the level it needs to be, matching the ambience.
Really wanted to like this place - they had an opportunity to make things right and they declined. A restaurant with this price tag is something we can only do once every 2-3 years. I had been excited to try Trick Rider as I like to support those who support the PGA of America, and so I booked a Valentine’s table the morning it accepted reservations on opentable. When we arrived, we were impressed by the chandelier, live music, and general ambiance. However that quickly dissipated as they ushered us into a tiny side room in the back corner, all by ourselves with no view other than a tv displaying a fireplace from Youtube (which I know was YouTube since it paused for ads and for a survey). Not exactly the ambiance you pay several hundred dollars and get a reservation for. I asked our waitress, who was otherwise great, if we could have a different table in the actual restaurant. She declined and told me those tables had been long reserved — I know, since I reserved mine as well. I also understand that not every table can be filled due to limited servers, but we did feel disappointed to watch at least 3+ different small tables in the actual restaurant remain open for the duration of our entire evening. Cocktails were great. We did the signature Wagyu tasting which was unfortunately very underwhelming to this native north Texan. Asparagus was oily and limp. Whipped Potatoes were the highlight of our main course, and the Carrot Cake was excellent. I understand that there is a price for the experience, but unfortunately when I asked my bride how her evening was going she said she was extremely disappointed with our table/room. The gentleman who spoke to us about our cake was friendly, and again our waitress was fine, but this was a complete whiff. I do not foresee us coming back unfortunately, nor can I make the recommendation based on our experience. I hope others who bite the bullet at least get to see the chandelier instead of a tv.
On Saturday 2/7 myself and two friends went to afternoon tea at Trick Rider. We had made a reservation in advance and were excited about the experience. The restaurant itself is beautiful, but when we were seated and received our tea we began to notice a few fruit flys at our table. The longer our visit went on, the more appeared. One of my friends had to take a fly out of her tea, and all of us had them crawling on our plates and cutlery. By the time the food arrived, there were at least 15-20 flies crawling on the food and flying into our tea. It was distracting, uncomfortable, and honestly made all of us lose our appetites. Afternoon tea at trick rider was over $100 per person. There was not a manager at the restaurant at the time we were there, so we spoke with the front desk of the hotel. They were very kind and took down our information. Trick Rider contacted one of the friends at the tea, and acknowledged the problem with the flies. They invited us to come back in two weeks to have a better experience. All of us agreed that the experience was so unpleasant that at this time we don’t want to go back, and we feel disturbed that they are comfortable charging all of us over $100 for tea with flies. Our friend tried to call back to communicate this, but has not been able to get back in touch. Ultimately, I’m disappointed that what was supposed to be a fun experience was so disappointing, and upset about the amount of money we paid. Until the problem with the flies is handled and communication improves, I caution everyone from dining at Trick Rider.
My family of ten dined at Trick Rider on Saturday evening to celebrate my mother’s birthday, and unfortunately the experience was far from what we expected. We had specifically requested a table in the main dining room, but were initially placed in a private room. While the room was beautiful, it was not what my mother wanted or what we had requested. After waiting over 20 minutes, we were eventually moved to the main dining area. Our server, William, made the evening especially disappointing. He seemed uninterested in hosting us and came across as rude. He insisted that we provide our entire order—including appetizers, entrées, and sides—all at once, and when we asked for recommendations, he repeatedly responded with “I’m not sure” and dismissive looks. His demeanor made what should have been a joyful celebration uncomfortable and unpleasant. For a party of six adults and four teenagers, we spent over $1,000+ and I feel awful for having suggested Trick Rider for such an important occasion. I am sharing this feedback in the hope that it will help improve the service for future guests.
Visited last week and chose Trick Rider as it seemed to have decent reviews, but my experience was not one worthy of the prices you pay there. Ordered the Delmonico with high hopes. The first time it came out it was cold in the center. Not cool, cold. Sent it back and they cooked it a bit longer. When the steak came back out it was still cold in the center. At this point the bartender apologized and mentioned something about buying the steak. They took it back again and managed to cook it long enough for the center to be warm, but the outside was overcooked. They took a side/drink off my bill but made sure to charge full for the steak. Having no sides included with the meal is another issue I won’t go into. At no point did a manager come speak to me about the issue. I assume this must just be business as usual. I would recommend looking elsewhere for your meal. Reached out to the email listed in other reviews before posting, but received no response so I guess it is what it is.
We got a gift card from our daughter and son in law. We decided to splurge and go to trick rider. Atmosphere was beautiful. Wait staff, friendly and professional. Food - substandard. Everything was completely overpriced. I ordered a 6 oz filet, it was the smallest steak I've ever seen! I also ordered a Cesar salad - so overdressed I couldn't eat it. Sadly, we will not be back. When Texas has steakhouses that are so superior - no need to waste money at places such as this. What a complete disappointment
