I’ve lived nearby for 20 years and can’t believe I just discovered this gem! Food was excellent, fairly priced, great service, manager could not have been more welcoming and hospitable. When asked about sauce options he retrieved samples from the kitchen for us to taste before ordering. Been back multiple times with same results! And the margarita was delicious did not give me a headache!

El Sol is a small quaint Mexican restaurant in the town of Montrose California. The food is excellent, the service amazing and the atmosphere quiet and reassuring. Lunches are generally easily available and very delicious. Dinner is also excellent and tends to be a little on the busy side. So, if you want an excellent Mexican dinner, don't miss El Sol, it is magnificent.

My friends live in the neighborhood and took me here - it’s one of their favorite spots to eat and I see why! The staff were all very friendly and welcoming and the waitress helped me decide on the right entree. I’ll definitely be coming back here :)

True to their word, the food came out incredibly fast. Within just 20 minutes, I had ordered, eaten, and was on my way. The staff was attentive and checked on me multiple times during my meal, which made me feel truly valued as a customer. It’s not often you find such dedicated service! And let me tell you, the food was absolutely delicious! Every bite was a treat, and it was clear that care went into preparing each dish. Overall, my experience at El Sol was fantastic. The combination of prompt service, delicious food, and genuine hospitality made it a standout lunch. It’s evident that the team goes above and beyond for their customers. I can’t wait to return and enjoy another meal there!

This is the one of the best Mexican restaurants I've ever tried in California and I'm from a border town in Texas!! So that's a big compliment... I was starving and they're are few places walking distance from my grandmother's living quarters, which is across the street. Also, I've never really had Mexican food quite with the same taste as from Texas. Is have to say this restaurant has its own particular Mexican taste. I find it even better than some of the Mexican restaurants in Texas. Lo. And from what I hear from the reviews, I have to come back and try the margaritas..... Lo! There is a nice outdoor patio in front which they did a good job with, even though it took away some parking spaces. There is still ample parking. Also try the margaritas. They'll kick you a$$if you're a lightweight like me...but they're really good despite.

I ordered a tostada to go which supposed to be $13 (expensive already), and when I was ready to pay, the kind attendant told me it was $18 plus taxes. I said I ordered a fish tostada and the menu says $13, she mentioned she cannot do nothing because the cashier computer already have the prices. It was not her fault, and she was very kind. But I cannot understand people never is wrong by their sides, just they always want to charge more to the customers. I did not buy anything, I felt like scammed. Please be aware that the prices of the menu are not the real ones, thanks.

This place has great salsa and chips in my opinion. Hole in the wall mexican food. My go to dish was the nachos with no beans. I have been ordering it for many years. I was not able to go there for a while and So the other night I wanted some nachos. I ended up going there. I asked for the food just like I normally would only ask for nachos with shrimp. No beans. I asked for the guacamole and sour cream on the side. Like I normally would and then, when the nachos came out the cheese was half melted, it was mozzarella instead of regular Mexican cheese. Like they normally put the tomatoes when they normally would not have that on top. then when I questioned it, the man said well, you haven't been here in a lot of months, so they change the way they make the nachos, unlike if you know that I'm a regular, that's what I normally order. Why don't you tell me that it's changed? I spent way too much money for Some chips salsa and maybe 4 little shrimp chopped up with mozzarella cheese. Never again. I would probably take the salsa to go but I would not order the food again. Disappointed!

The food is good but overpriced in .y opinion. Service can be really bad, I've been here 3 times and 2 out of the 3 were bad. Getting put on hold and hung up on, the right attitude just isn't there.
