We absolutely loved staying here, didn't want to leave, we got such a lovely welcome and everyone is extremely friendly, everything is immaculately clean and so comfortable, the food is fabulous, Louise's fish bake is to die for, and breakfast was cooked fresh and very tasty. We can't wait to go back. Also fireworks night there was a great extra bonus, thoroughly enjoyed every minute.
Visited on a Saturday lunchtime. Had booked in advance and had a nice table for five of us plus a dog. There was plenty of parking. The service was brilliant with friendly staff and the food really tasty. We’ll definitely be going back.
Most amazing family run pub and hotel Louise, Glenn and Megan were the most wonderful hosts. The room, food, service and location were 10/10
Update: Still great, when we came back a year later. Excellent food with good sized portions and the staff were engaging & friendly. And the Full English was tip-top and the best I've had in ages! The rooms were well kept & provided with tea & biscuits. The only downside was that our room was too hot (after a hot day in early Sept) and the windows were screwed shut so we couldn't air it.
Found this place when looking for a country pub to have lunch after a walk at the near reservoir. As an Italian, I always enjoy the Yorkshire warmness and this place gives exactly that. Lovely and cozy, and the food was great and genuine. Seems like you can also stay overnight, will definitely try that next time.
Great meal out and offer on as well bonus.
I love this little pub. I stay here often when up to Harrogate. It is a little corner of rural England. The staff and owners are very welcoming and friendly, the rooms are spacious, comfortable and immaculate and the food is lovely. Been coming here for 5 years and will continue to do so.
Lovely inn in Yorkshire. The rooms are big and comfortable, the food hearty and traditional and the service couldn’t have been better. The staff helped us move our car during a heavy snowstorm and went out of their way to ensure we got to town safely.
Lovely staff, great food, very good service. Delicious puddings! We sat inside for food then outside for drinks. The atmosphere both inside and out is relaxed and friendly. The covid safety measures felt very well thought through without being intrusive on a nice experience. Plus the fact it's in such an idyllic spot- a nice journey get there as well. Definitely recommend this gem.
Absolutely fantastic. First time visit with friends. The food was amazing and staff very friendly. Good atmosphere and just a real joy to be there. Can’t wait to go again Many thanks Rob
The service was great but the Steak Pie was to die for. Perfect place to stop when driving across country.
We had a lovely couple of nights here for a wedding, it was a great pub. Amazing food and the rooms were fab! Staff great. Can’t recommend enough. We’ll be back for sure!
A lovely pub with great facilities, delicious food and wonderful staff. Popped in for Sunday roast beef and apple crumble and grabbed an hour on their EV charger, whilst we ate in the glorious sunshine in the courtyard - I was in heaven. Highly recommended.
Very decent food here and a cracking pint. I had duck in orange sauce with new Potato's and carrots (gorgeous) and Broccoli. My wife had the Chicken in cream and mushroom sauce. Both were excellent. Topped off with a pint of Theakstons Best which was perfect, should have booked a room and had another! Pub has just been refurbished, new carpets and re-upholstered furniture, freshly painted. Very cosy and comfortable. Loved it!
Had a beautiful lunch here, food was perfect and friendly staff.
Fabulous Pub with exquisit food! Pub cuisine at its best with very friendly service and a cosy atmosphere. The desert menu in itself is to die for hehe! We were 6 including two kids! And we only paid 85£ including drinks!! Super value for what we got too!
Great food and a good selection of local beers. Possible to stay in a campervan in the carpark if you are eating at the pub.
Best seafood dish ever! We were camping nearby and called in for a drink whilst out walking... the village is beautiful and so peaceful. The menu is typical pub food but looked amazing - we ordered the seafood dish off the specials board ... it was amazing as were all the sides that came with it. Very strict C19 social distancing measures in place, but didn’t take away from a lovely chilled afternoon/evening - we'll be back!
Originally chose a quick stop here on a Saturday because they have electric car charging. Was delighted to find it's also a really good pub with very friendly staff and delicious food. The steak and ale pie is particularly special but the whole menu is well priced and decent quality, would thoroughly recommend a visit.
A lovely pub nestled in a beautiful location. Owner provided me at very short notice with a very tasty take away meal whilst I stayed at 3 acre Campsite. nearby. Short distance to walk from Campsite or 5 mins by car. Owner went to great lengths to help with providing takeaway meal. Much appreciated. Worth a visit & recommended.
Great country village pub. We ate Sunday lunch there , before our 1 night stay in Harrogate. Service was great, and the food was hot, fresh and home cooked. The roast beef was gorgeous. We even ordered one for the dog. Thank you for a lovely experience 😘
Great food and friendly staff, in a off the beat quiet location. Good choice of food on the menu for vegetarians.
Lovely rural pub, stopped for lunch on a quiet Monday. Friendly staff, lovely food and dog friendly too couldn't ask for more highly recommend.
Fantastic Experience at The Queens Head yet again. I had the pleasure of staying and dining at The Queens Head in Kettlesing again over the weekend just gone and it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment we arrived, the warm and welcoming atmosphere from Louise stood out. The pub has a charming, rustic feel with a perfect blend of traditional and modern décor. The menu offered a great variety of delicious, home-cooked dishes. I opted for the fish & chips one night and the Sunday roast on the last night, and it was exceptional—perfectly cooked meat, generous portions, and all the trimmings you could want. The locally sourced ingredients really shone through in both flavor and freshness. Their dessert menu is equally impressive, but I had to give this a miss. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive without being overbearing, making sure our experience was relaxed and enjoyable. The service was efficient, and we never felt rushed, even though the pub was quite busy. The double act of Louise & Megan works really well and you can tell they’re passionate about that place. Overall, The Queens Head is a hidden gem in the heart of the countryside, offering high-quality food, a lovely atmosphere, and excellent service. I highly recommend it whether you’re passing through or looking for a cozy spot to enjoy a meal. I’ll definitely be back! 🏍️🏍️
Fantastic stay all be it 1 night . Will be back , great food , lovelt owner . Rollingstone milkshake & john
Had lunch there during the week. Wonderful food and great value. Was quite busy so would recommend that you book in advance to ensure a table. We had lasagne, Gammon and fish and chips all very tasty and would definitely have again.
I ate here this evening with my family after visiting Fountains Abbey. The food was absolutely fantastic. I eat out a lot, and this was ‘next level’. It’s a lovely pub in a nice little village, very quiet and scenic. There are EV charging points, excellent parking and the service was just as good as the food. I couldn’t recommend this enough, and I will 💯 be returning at some point.
A hidden gem....if you want to stay in a real traditional Yorkshire village pub and feel part of the local community during your stay, Glen and Louise have created the perfect place for you. Highly recommended!
Good range of drinks, and wide menu of delicious foods - served when many other pubs have finished. Comfortable with quick service from friendly staff.
We had Sunday lunch at The Queens head and it was excellent. Brilliant service. The best gravy I have ever tasted and good quality veg and meat. Will definitely go again and highly recommend
Twelve of us stayed for one night. Great pub with 3 hand pumps. Wonderful food at dinner and breakfast. Very comfortable bed rooms with huge bed and good bathroom. Highest standard of cleanliness throughout. Best of all.... the staff. It's a family run pub and nothing is too much trouble for them. This pub is on my list to do return visit.
The finest steak and ale pie I’ve tasted. The menu provides a great selection without being overkill. The staff is friendly and engaging and the prices are very competitive.
I spent some time here while I was working on a project locally. The room was cozy with nice amenities. The staff was amazing, friendly and fun to be around. The food was very good. The area was great for walking and capturing images. I spent many an evening chatting at the pub inside. I'd come back if I got the chance.
Great food, Sunday lunch was excellent ( leeks and carrots delicious) Lovely welcome, would definitely recommend, staff and Landlady Lou were very helpful. Good choice on the menu and special board. Great choice of local beers, Old Peculiar went down too well 😊
Met up with friends for an evening meal together. We enjoyed great food in a very homely atmosphere. This is a well liked country pub in a quiet village. We hadn't been for some time but will certainly be visiting again. Worth a shot!
My partner and I eat here very often. The food is fantastic, the staff are fantastic. It's always busy, so book so you're not disappointed. It's dog friendly too. The pub is traditional 'oldie worldie country' pub, very clean and tidy.
Just spent two nights at this pub, really clean rooms the staff were amazing, very pleasant and helpful. Enjoyed my stay.
Me and a friend had planned to go to another pub as they were advertising x2 steak and bottle of wine for £40 - when we arrived despite saying outside food being served, the bar lady told us the chef wasn't working - very annoyed and disappointed we left and came across the Queens head Inn - it was a Tuesday night and obviously hadn't booked - (we also had the dog with us!) when we arrived it was thriving - we managed to find one table and sat ourselves down. The staff were so friendly. We ordered 2 meals off of the specials board - Tomapork (yes that is correct!) steak and Lamb Rump steak - the food was incredible and huge portions (the lady who served us even joked that she couldn't find a smaller one!) All in all - we have now decided to ditch the other pub who were unfriendly and uninviting and come here in future - but ill book next time because I don't want to miss out!! ;) Sorry no pictures taken as we were too hungry to be bothered and food was too good not to eat :)
Let's start with the location. Such a beautiful place. Surrounded by rolling fields of Yorkshire countryside. The journey there is a pleasure. Ample car parking and plenty of room outside for a sunny drink. Sunday lunch menu was not extensive but was all made very well. Luckily steak pie was an option, and it was very good. Full of steak and very tasty. Roasties done well and veg done well. Puddings were all delicious too, I had treacle tart. The service was friendly and efficient, extra glasses of water and drinks etc brought as required and we didn't have a lengthy wait for our food. Finally the price. Very reasonable. 2 courses and drinks for a family of 4 for under 80 quid. In today's terms that is brill. Altogether a fantastic place to eat and worth the trip out
Called in for Sunday lunch as staying within walking distance. Limited menu on Sunday which was Sunday roast with meat options, sea bass and a steak in ale pie. Not being a huge roast fan I went for the pie. What a great choice I made. Best pie I have ever eaten. Full of tender beef and rich tasty sauce. Others in party had the roast which they were very happy with. Good deserts too.
Fantastic home cooked proper good old fashioned pub food. Perfectly cooked great service and great value for money compared to other pubs nearby! Loads of car parking space and a real winter warming fire!
Beautiful old pub in a very quiet village. The menu is fabulous. Don't let the restaurant menu online put you off as there are many specials at lunch and dinner. We actually stayed overnight and the breakfast was especially good too. A huge hearty well cooked and well presented Yorkshire breakfast to set you up for the day! Lovely host and staff too who were more than happy to answer all my questions about the local area.
A real pub with fabulous homecooked food. Delicious, hot, great portions and good choices. Welcoming amd friendly.... A perfect place to have lunch. Thankyou team!
Situated just outside Harrogate, this pub offers very good food in a comfortable, friendly dining room where plenty of diners can enjoy a real fire and a Yorkshire welcome. The staff are great too. Glad we had the sat nav working as we arrived after dark (country lane to negotiate) but there’s plenty of parking at the rear of the pub. It’s in a quiet location in a small village. The bedroom was fine and warm ( duvet perhaps a little warmer than I like) and old style- (not chic boutique)but it was plenty big enough in the twin room. Hope we will stay again and next time we will call and book direct and get a cheaper rate.
This was a really friendly local pub near Harrogate that we stopped at on the way north. They couldn't have done more to make you feel welcome and the menu looked excellent. Sadly it was a Wednesday night and we arrived after the kitchen closed (8pm) otherwise it would have been an excellent place to have eaten. The breakfast was excellent, one of the best cooked breakfasts I've had and set us up well for the day. Would return again.
Went in for a drink and some food. Nice traditional pub. Dog friendly. Nice staff and good choice on menu. Enjoyed the food
The only downside was accessibility, if you parked in the good sized car park there was no rear access for people with mobility issues. We parked on the road side to the front which bearing in mind it's a country pub was a bit iffy. The lady who served us was very hospitable and the food was lovely, so after all said we would return but only if there happened to be a place outside the front.😃
This is our go-to restaurant for a night out or when we have visitors in town, we like to come here! The chef’s food is always on point. I usually get a seafood dish and it’s always cooked perfectly. My husband’s fav is the steak and ale made with generous chunks of meat - he’s never disappointed! They have the normal offerings my little kids love too. Apart from the food we always enjoy a chat with the owner or waitstaff- everyone is so friendly, it truly feels like we’re regulars here when we visit.
Nice friendly pub. We were a party of three. Two really enjoyed their meals...fish and chips and an all day breakfast, both cooked well with quality foods. I had the soup of the day, which was vegetable. Unfortunately it was far too seasoned and quite strong in taste. Yet it must be difficult to get this right for each individual. However we enjoyed our visit and would definitely return if we were in the area.
Disappointing meal last night. I had the lamb and my wife had the chicken with tarragon sauce. The lamb was rather tasteless and only served with mash and peas. The tarragon sauce also lacked flavour and the accompanying veg of broccoli , carrots, and new potatoes looked and tasted like they had been kept warm for hours. We have previously had very good meals here so we were surprised at the poor quality of the meals.
