My rating is entirely based off the food and not the service. Unfortunately our server was terrible, he was not friendly and was very awkward and quick with us - I’m giving the benefit of the doubt that he could’ve been having a bad day, unfortunately I did not catch his name (he didn’t even introduce himself), I personally work in the service industry and just found his mannerisms unfit for this establishment. When it comes to the food, I was blown away. I feel as though it’s hard to find authentic delicious gumbo and my partner and I found it to be fantastic (Brennan’s Gumbo Du Jour). My partner is of Cajun decent and is very particular about gumbo. I ordered the Gulf Fish Pontchartrain and found it exquisite with many complimenting flavors. My partner ordered some lamb chops which were really good. Dessert was excellent, we got the Banana Fosters and it was served to us with a little show. I do plan on returning soon and I hope the service is better. Excellent food! This review is based off of my experience on February 26, arriving at 8pm.

Thank you all for providing such an amazing evening for my fiancees birthday. We had an amazing time. From valet to the love and care you all take to make your customers feel welcomed. The food was beyond comparison. We also found out about the shuttle so we will be coming back

We made reservations for the Brennan's Kitchen Experience and had the best time. The food was excellent and the attentiveness of your team, all of them, was absolutely superb! Thank you for giving us a very special evening. Jason, Jose, Sebastian, Eddy (thank you for that duck confit, it was life altering), Enzel, Chris to name a few were an absolute pleasure to speak with. Appreciate everyone's efforts in making our evening so enjoyable.

We came for the banana foster and it did not disappoint. This is the kind place you come for the service experience. It was impeccable. Our server Derek was very friendly and the young guys who refilled our drink was very friendly and on point as well. This place has a very romantic atmosphere. I did add salt to my lamb chop, but when service is great you overlook the small stuff. The turtle soup was great. We will be coming back next time we are in Houston!

Snapping turtle soup and pecan encrusted fish were fabulous. Good private room options upstairs for work functions. Valet only, though.

Very nice experience 👌 food was great, service was great. Great hospitality, we felt welcomed. Loved the ambience. Valet parking was great. Everything was just really nice. Will definitely be going back there to try everything in the menu.

Came here for a friend's birthday brunch and absolutely loved it. Our waiter Joe was very personable and made us laugh quite a bit. We came during Houston Restaurant Week and I ordered Brennan's Boudin for my appetizer, for my main course I had Shrimp and Grits. The boudin was one large ball which isn't what I was expecting, but it was so delicious! The shrimp and grits were amazing as well. My friend had Bananas Foster for dessert and they cook it in front of your table which I thought was pretty cool! Another employee named Brandon cooked it for us and he did excellent!

We had an amazing birthday dinner upstairs in a private room. Super Covid-19 safety precautions were taken. Waiter’s wore mask. Very elegant and romantic atmosphere. The food was delicious! They have a huge wine list and drink menu. I 100% recommend this restaurant. We had turtle soup that was delicious! Lamb chops were out of this world! The martinis are strong and good!

I went here this past weekend for a wedding, since this was the venue where my friends had their wedding. I was so in awe with the venue, the food and staff of this place. It is absolutely so beautiful and elegant which created the perfect atmosphere to have the wedding. From the accommodation of the staff to the presentation of the food, the music of the jazz band, and the artwork/beautiful atmosphere of the venue just made this day absolutely special. I had heard so much good things about this place from previous coworkers who used to live in Houston so when I told them that I was going to be attending this place for a wedding, they were absolutely jealous and shocked because they have heard nothing but great things. I love that they had valet and made it super easy to go in and out of the restaurant, especially with it being kind of gloomy and rainy outside. I loved how big and open the space/venue was because you were able to go from point A to point B and just enjoy such a beautiful place all around. I do have to say that the staff was absolutely incredible and very attentive to all the guest, and I don’t think my drink was ever empty or even halfway for throughout the whole event

Truly phenomenal experience. All 4 dinners and drinks were enjoyed. 2 of us are from out of town, and hadn't been able to experience their full customer service prior. It may be expensive, but we certainly got what we paid for.

I was raised on Brennan's of the New Orleans variety. This was my second time at the Houston location, and it does not disappoint. The service was impeccable despite crossing into it being the time between services. Strawberry fields for a drink was refreshing, the gulf coast oysters were better than I expected (I'd never had raw gulf coast oysters), shrimp and grits is a favorite of mine, and if I could have banana foster on a daily basis without gaining weight, I would. All in all, a wonderful experience and already trying to figure out when I can go again!

Brendan’s Houston has been my top choice for brunch for as long as I can remember. Their top-notch service has always stood out, and I was thrilled to return after the Houston expansion event. The brunch menu has truly evolved, offering a wider variety of delicious options. They've even introduced all-you-can-drink offerings, which is a fantastic addition! The shrimp cocktail was a standout, and the crab topped with egg was simply mouthwatering. My go-to item, sugar and grits, remains as delightful as ever. They've also added a jazz brunch on Saturdays, giving more people a chance to enjoy the live band, which sometimes comes right to your table—especially for birthday celebrations! The lively yet relaxing atmosphere, complete with festive balloons at each table, makes it the perfect spot to unwind before a busy week. I highly recommend Brendan’s for their brunch, whether you're going for the Houston Restaurant menu or their regular offerings. If only it weren’t so far from where I live, I’d be there every week! Bravo to Brendan’s for continuing to impress!

My friends and I went here for brunch this past Saturday to participate in HRW (Houston Restaurant Week). The dress code is business casual which I'm used to, so dressing nice was no big deal. On first arriving, I circled the area trying to find something other than valet parking but found no options other than to walk at least maybe half a block or so. Five dollars to valet park was reasonable especially for the great customer service that you get from the time you walk in until the time you leave. We were only a party of 4 this time and I was the first to arrive. I was warmly greeted by the maître d' who suggested that I could either sit at our table or in the bar area to wait for the rest of my party. I checked out the restroom first before having a seat in the bar. It was clean and somewhat fancy but what I liked most was that the doors go all the way to the floor. After 2 others from our party arrived, we were guided to our table. Along the way, the kitchen staff and manager that we came in contact with, greeted us with smiles and told us to enjoy. Shortly after being seated, our server came over to present us with complimentary breads and to take our order but said she would first bring us lagniappe???? I learned that lagniappe means something extra and that something extra was crab mousse on crosstini; yummy! Since it was a jazz brunch, we were able to enjoy beautiful jazz music being played by the live band. Found out that they only play in the months of August and September during brunch hours. We were served complimentary biscuits and corn muffins with raisins and butter on the side. The butter had that taste like it had absorbed odors from other foods from the fridge; I wasn't a fan. We ordered from the HRW menu. Amongst the 4 of us, we selected the following for the first course: -Chicken and andouille gumbo -Roasted duck crepe -Brennan's salad Second course: -Cochon de Lait Benedict -Eggs Benedict -Pan seared salmon Although everyone's food looked delish, I can only comment on what I tasted; salad and cochon de Lait Benedict. Not much to say about the salad; it was a salad. However, this was my first time ever trying eggs Benedict and I liked it. I did ask for my egg to be more firm but when I cut into it, it still oozed but it was ok. When I cut through to the jalapeño biscuit, it was tough but the overall taste of it all was scrumptious! It was even better the next day when I reheated it in the air fryer! After sitting, the sauce and juices from the pulled pork softened the biscuit. That's an A plus in my book! Overall, this was a good experience that I would like to soon try again.

I had a wonderful dinner with my parents at this restaurant. The service was very attentive, the food was delicious. There is a very good selection of wines, spirits and cocktails. I was able to sample 3 different desserts, and my absolute favorite was bread pudding souffle (you have to wait 30 minutes for it to be prepared though). As far as parking is concerned, there is a valet service that only costs $5. Overall, this was a great experience, and I highly recommend it.

Had the GULF FISH PONTCHARTRAIN and the Mrs. had the TEXAS SHRIMP & GRITS. Both dishes were delicious! Also had the Bananas Foster which was delicious too. Decor inside definitely has a New Orleans feel to it. Waitstaff were attentive and cordial. Definitely recommended eating here if you're in the mood for upscale Creole.

My niece had her engagement party at Brennan's...such a wonderful experience! The building is gorgeous and feels like Brennan's NOLA. Blair Bardwell was particularly helpful in planning with my SIL and niece. There was plenty of staff serving drinks and making sure all the guests were taken care of. We had small bites and it was delicious! Our party used a room and patio and it was perfect for mingling!

Top notch experience as always! The food was delicious, the ambiance elegant and our waiter Joe was very attentive and personable. Brennan’s is well known in Houston and I can see why. The atmosphere, the service, and most importantly the food were all excellent. The presentation was top notch and the bananas foster is an experience you must try.

An amazing restaurant. The staff are all very hospitable people. Our waiter was the best, he was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the history of the restaurant, the food, and knew all the in and outs of the drinks. He was able to recall many of the previous seasonal drinks and knew exactly how they were made. The food was very good, there are a wide variety of different meats. The presentation of the food and especially the banana foster were tantalizing. The atmosphere was comfortable yet elegant. They have great people who can make great food, it's definitely a keeper.

So we did guys night out last night and we had an awesome time! Our waiter did a great job and we loved the food!! I ordered the Ponchatrain dish and the Bananas foster for dessert. The dessert was so good I wanted to bribe the waiter for the recipe. Yes it was that good!! I’ve been here a few times before and it was impeccable service every single time. Hands down one of my favorite restaurants in all of Houston!!! Highly recommend!!!!!

What a really really nice dinner and ambience. The wait staff is genuine and polite. I'm not even a fan of Cajun food yet my lobster bisque, and scallops were fantastic and the pecan pie was amazing. We had a question about the wine and the sommelier came over and very unpretentiously introduced himself as the Wine Guy. I honestly think the wine we had was one of the best white wines I've ever had. I would definitely go back. It's a type of place with a romantic atmosphere where you feel like you can hide away and have some privacy. It's one of the best dinner experiences I've had in Houston PS if you're gluten free the crab cakes do not have any bread in them. They are almost solidly crab which is amazing. A lot of the items seem to gluten-friendly

What a fantastic experience! I've been to the original location in New Orleans before and to the Houston location once before years ago. I decided to revisit it for my birthday this year. NOTE: They have a dress code! So make sure to confirm you look it up in advance and dress appropriately. They have $5 valet parking. Otherwise public parking is pretty sparse. The happy hour deals are pretty decent. The appetizers were delicious. The boudain balls were fantastic. The raw oysters were nice and plump. The fried green tomatoes were cooked perfectly. I'd order all of them again. I was seated in the dining room when they opened and was greeted to celebratory balloons. The service was really good, although almost to the point of being too chatty. The server was very friendly and did a great job overall. The owner had a nice long chat. Definitely felt very welcome. The sommelier was also very friendly and helpful. They are known for their turtle soup and I can confirm it is quite good. I got their special which was crusted mahi mahi. Unfortunately it wasn't my favorite and I wouldn't order it again, although it wasn't bad. For the finale, the bananas foster is always a winner. Overall, a fantastic experience. I highly recommend giving them a visit!

This was our last dinner in Houston, and I'm really glad we picked this restaurant. The service by Angel was amazing. The food was top-notch and also a spectacle to behold. We came for turtle soup—I won't lie. It's a rare opportunity for Londoners to try it out. It was delicious, and they also sprinkle it with sherry in front of you. Then came the shrimp 'n' grits. These are cooked on a side table in front of you, and the cognac flame is, as I said, spectacular. This was also my last opportunity to try steak in Texas, and their strip loin delivered: full of taste, cooked to perfection. Lastly, the bread pudding. In the UK, we usually mean a square, layered kind of cake. Here, it was round, like a scoop of ice cream, but still delicious. Amazing restaurant, well worth the money.

Karl planned a memorable birthday dinner for 11 of us. He was just the nicest person on the phone and then blew us away with a custom menu with the choice of 3 vegetarian appetizers and 4 vegetarian entrees and this amazing sampler dessert tray including an off menu chocolate cupcake for the birthday boy. These people know how to take care of people and create a memorable experience!!

I had the pleasure of dining at Brennan's, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. The service was exceptional, with Cameron leading the way. He was personable, friendly, and a true embodiment of Houston's Southern hospitality. His recommendations were spot on, and we loved every dish he suggested—all plates were cleaned! The manager, Fred, also made a great impression, adding to the warm atmosphere. We felt right at home thanks to the attentive care from the entire staff, who even surprised us with complimentary dishes and drinks. Kudos to the chef for creating such delicious dishes that have us eager to return. We appreciated the personal touch from one of the owners, who came out to greet us and take pictures to commemorate our wonderful time. Dining at Brennan's is more than just about the food; it’s the combination of fantastic cuisine, inviting ambiance, and outstanding service that made our experience a solid 10 out of 10. We can’t wait to come back!

There’s a reason why this restaurant has such a great reputation. The consistency across every team member is appreciated. Everybody extremely attentive, but not invasive. The decor and ambience is perfect for a friendly but yet upscale dining experience. The food, from appetizer, to entrées to dessert, is outstanding. The highlight, of course, the live music that celebrates New Orleans.

I was looking for a restaurant that would leave me with a memorable birthday. Brennan’s did just that. From the door the the table we were greeted and treated like not only guest but family. They had the table set up with balloons, and was seated perfect for myself and my guest. Then , when it came to ordering , our waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu and took his time on explaining everything and answering all of our questions; but to make a longer story short , the food was awesome , came out quick , there was not a single ounce of food left on either of my 10 guest plates and yeah , if your looking for an experience stop by Brennan’s.

Brennan's keeps the spirit it has had since the original building in Houston. It offers some truly chef-inspired creations, many French Quarter remiscent offerings, and a handful of merely adequate dishes aimed directly at the tourist. The more you know and appreciate, the better the experience. Service is professional and stylish. Worth a trip.

What an amazing experience! Came in for the $150 tomahawk special. Thomas took great care of us. Started with the flavorful turtle soup, then chef came out and did a table side presentation of slicing the tomahawk and serving us. Seasoned very well. Mac & cheese and mash potatoes were delicious. Ended our meal with hot beignets and complementary pralines. I will be back for their live jazz brunch and ask for Thomas! Thanks Brennans for exceptional hospitality and yummy food 🤤 $5 for valet and they were very nice and quick.

The food was absolutely fantastic, and our server, Francisco, was exceptionally warm and attentive—his service truly enhanced the entire experience. While my partner and I wore polos, I’d recommend opting for a dinner blazer or a more formal button-down to better match the upscale ambiance. The added convenience of valet parking was a great touch!

George Wolf gave us such a great experience for being our first time here. He gave us a brief history of Brennen’s which was amazing. Dinner was great. Beats salad was refresh, we replace the goat cheese for feta. Lobster 🦞 bisque was delicious. Pepper corn sauce is a MUST!!

Valet makes parking a breeze here. Then our server, Jonathan and his team, were so attentive we felt like VIP. The simply grilled oysters are great, the smoked gouda mac n cheese is divine and crème brûlée is sooo creamy delicious. Can’t wait to come back and try more things

Pacing of the meal was perfect! We had a pre-theatre dinner and the course pacing was spot on. We had 15 minutes to spare after signing the check to go use the powder room and then get on the shuttle. Food was amazing, especially the prime rib and the horse radish sauce. Always a treat to dine at Brennan’s!

Went to Brennan’s for m teams holiday lunch. Made a reservation and still had to wait over an hour to be seated. They never found us a normal table, but asked if we wanted to sit in the bar area. After we were seated, everything was great. You have to try the flaming bananas foster.

Choosing the right restaurant for a milestone celebration is no small task. When our family began planning my mother-in-law’s 70th birthday, we knew the evening needed to feel extraordinary. It had to be more than just a dinner out, it had to be an experience she would never forget. After thoughtful consideration, we selected Brennan’s of Houston, a legendary Creole restaurant with a long history of hospitality and fine dining. From the moment we stepped through the doors, it was clear that this was the right choice. The welcome was warm and genuine, and our table had been thoughtfully decorated in honor of the occasion. That simple yet meaningful gesture set the tone for the evening. Many restaurants deliver excellent food, but not all of them go the extra mile to acknowledge the reason guests gather at their tables. At Brennan’s, the detail of a decorated table instantly made my mother-in-law feel celebrated and gave our family the sense that we were not just customers but honored guests. Our server, Emmanuel, elevated the evening with his combination of knowledge, professionalism, and personality. He guided us through the menu with ease, answering questions, offering recommendations, and sharing in our excitement for the occasion. Emmanuel struck a perfect balance, he was attentive without being intrusive, fun without ever losing professionalism. It is rare to find a server who can make a fine dining experience feel both polished and relaxed, but he achieved it with charm and ease. We began our meal with classic starters that set the tone for Brennan’s culinary reputation. The gumbo was rich, flavorful, and layered with spices that warmed the palate. Alongside it, the cornbread was moist and comforting, a Southern staple done exactly right. To freshen the palate, we enjoyed the Brennan’s Salad, a crisp and refreshing course that provided a bright contrast to the richness of the gumbo. These opening dishes reminded us why Brennan’s has been a cornerstone of Houston dining for decades, their commitment to honoring traditional flavors while executing them with precision. For the main courses, each of us chose something different, which allowed us to share and experience the variety Brennan’s has to offer. I ordered the filet mignon, and it was prepared flawlessly, tender, juicy, and cooked exactly as I requested. The sear was perfect, and every bite revealed the care taken by the kitchen to ensure consistency and excellence. My husband chose the Gulf Fish Pontchartrain, a dish as beautiful as it was decadent. The fresh fish was topped with jumbo lump crab, shrimp, and fried oysters, all nestled in a creamy sauce that tied the flavors together. It was indulgent, satisfying, and a true highlight of the menu. My mother-in-law selected the Chippewa Shrimp, a dish that was as much a performance as it was a meal. Prepared tableside, the shrimp were sautéed in a brandy-mushroom cream sauce and flambéed with flair. The tableside presentation added an air of celebration to the evening, and the final dish was every bit as flavorful as the show suggested. The shrimp were tender, the sauce rich and velvety, and the aroma of the flambé created a lasting impression. What set this evening apart from so many others was not just the food, but the spirit of hospitality that permeated the restaurant. Managers moved gracefully through the dining room, ensuring every guest felt cared for. Servers worked seamlessly together, their attentiveness extending beyond their assigned tables. There was an undeniable sense of teamwork and pride in the service, and it was inspiring to watch. A particularly memorable moment came when Brad Brennan himself stopped by our table. His visit was more than a polite greeting, it was a genuine expression of gratitude for our choosing Brennan’s for such an important milestone. He engaged us in conversation, congratulated my mother-in-law, and made us feel like valued members of the Brennan’s family. His presence underscored what makes Brennan’s unique: a blend of world-class dining with a deeply personal touch.

I came here wanting to like this place. It seemed promising, with live music, all located in a beautifully restored building. In reality, the food was very ‘American’ fancy: too large portions, with too much seasoning, for too much money. The wine they serve for $18 per glass is not worth that much as a bottle. The worst are the guests though. Drunk and stumbling seniors raging loudly at the bar over national politics with plenty of openly racist remarks. The guacamole appetizer and the Eggs Benedict were nice though, I give ‘em that.

Visited for thanksgiving and it was glorious. Sat at the bar and had my meal there. The bartenders were extremely accommodating and food was beyond expectations. I will most certainly revisit. At the bar, they took excellent care of me and I was surprised most didn’t prefer to eat there instead of the main floor. Most would stop at the bar to have drinks while waiting for their table. I was ready to eat and my reservations were for much later. So I ate at the bar and was served in no time at all.

[August 2024 update. Still an incredible experience. Exceptional visits with great service from Logan and Francisco. Does crab cheesecake sound strange to you? It did too us, too, but wow...delicious! Do yourself a favor and splurge on the Baked Alaska (serves at least four people). It's dramatic and delicious. Who doesn't like dessert set on fire tableside?] This really does feel like a little piece of NOLA set down in Houston. Sunday brunch energy was lively, and we enjoyed the strolling singers. (Kudos to them for being so sweet to a child at one table and singing "The Wheels on the Bus." That was a special moment!) Brennan's Cajun/Creole food is famous for a reason: it's authentic, fresh and well done. Probably the star of the table was perfectly prepared friend green tomatoes with what I think was pickled okra on top. Not an okra fan? I'm not really either, but I loved this on the FGT. Very fresh salad, and the turtle soup lived up to its reputation (be sure to get the sherry on top). The chairs are so comfortable that you might want to linger, and that's fine because the vibe is relaxed and unhurried. A fun way to celebrate the weekend!

We had Easter brunch and all ordered something different. Everything except the chicken dish was excellent. The shrimp and grits were top notch! The staff was very attentive. The restaurant was beautiful and the valet retrieved the car quickly even though they were very busy.

Came here for lunch during restaurant week. Our server, Tyler, was informative about all of the dishes. The roasted duck crepe was my favorite dish of the entire meal. The 25 cent melon martinis were strong and well worth it - especially after a hard work week. You MUST try their bananas foster - a restaurant speciality - as it is made table side. Valet is just $5 with speedy and polite service. Lastly, be sure to grab a bag of pralines on the way out, you won’t regret it!

My wife and I had a stellar experience. We were immediately greeted by a very friendly and welcoming hostess. We informed her that we were married earlier that day. Unsolicited, we were seated in an exclusive dining area, which was very thoughtful and kind. We also received complimentary glasses of champagne 🥂 🍾, Staff members stopped by our table to congratulate us and shake hands. The food was excellent. We’re from New Orleans so we thoroughly enjoyed the complimentary praline candy at the door. Our small private dinner, with just the two of us was made very special, due to the kindness, attentiveness and professionalism of Brennan’s staff. Definitely a five star experience ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

We are visiting Houston for my mom’s 80th birthday and brought her to Brennans for gumbo and oysters. We had the best experience ! Our server Cydney was an absolute gem - pure sunshine - so professional and so fun and engaging. The food was outstanding but Cydney really went above and beyond to make it special for my mom! All in all such a beautiful experience - highly recommend !

What an amazing place. Everyone was very attentive with first the manager coming by and later Brad Brennan also coming to introduce himself and answered our questions about the history of the place and afterwards my brother got a personal email from Alex Brennen checking if we enjoyed ourselves. Thanks to everyone who made it a special occasion even though it wasn't one it became one.

I dined at Brennan’s during Houston Restaurant Weeks and was completely blown away by the experience. My menu featured the Roasted Duck Crepe as a starter, the Creole Fried Chicken Sandwich for the second course, and the Demi Creole Bread Pudding for dessert. The Roasted Duck Crepe was an absolute highlight—rich, savory, and perfectly crafted, it set an incredible tone for the meal. The Creole Fried Chicken Sandwich was crispy, juicy, and bursting with bold Creole flavors, while the Demi Creole Bread Pudding offered a sweet, comforting finish in just the right portion. The atmosphere was classy, elegant, and pleasantly quiet, creating a refined yet welcoming vibe for lunch. I arrived without a reservation, and the phenomenal service team graciously accommodated me, though reservations are encouraged for a seamless visit. The staff’s attentiveness, warmth, and professionalism elevated the entire experience, making every moment feel special. Brennan’s was a true gem during Houston Restaurant Weeks. With outstanding food, impeccable service, and a sophisticated setting, it’s an easy five-star experience. I can’t wait to return!

Outstanding food and superb service! My wife and are are frequent dinners in New Orleans restaurants, and this restaurant was of that quality. In Houston, that was honestly unexpected, but these guys delivered in every way! We celebrated our anniversary, and they celebrated with us with our Bananas Foster.

Has a stellar Wednesday dinner at Brennan's. Though it is a local legend, I had never been. Manuel T was our server and he was spot on with timeless, without being in our face. The vibe was intimate with good acoustics for conversing. Oysters, crab cakes and filet were cooked to perfect. Great evening out.

A wonderful experience, I was comforted as soon as I entered the establishment. I requested a seat at the bar, and I enjoyed a lovely 3 course meal, as well as quality Malbec, and a delicious Carajillo. Overall, I would come again and bring others as well. A great place for those with disposable income :)

I went for my July 26th birthday. I ordered the boudin-stuffed bacon-wrapped pork chop, but they forgot the bacon and boudin. The chef came to the table and apologized. He offered to make anything else I wanted. I chose shrimp & grits. I could've used a bit more seasoning, but good overall. Great ambiance, also! The service was prompt, it wasn't crowded, and I appreciate the $5 valet.

Words fail me to describe the way the Brennan’s experience affects me. The atmosphere is superb. The food is outstanding. The presentation of each course leaves you wanting the next course. The service is just second to none. Our Head Waiter Love was engaging and funny. His knowledge of the menu and his wit were greatly appreciated. Price was high end restaurant prices. But considering the entire experience…well worth it and to me…a bargain.

This place is amazing. My family and I have been going here for over 10 years. We have celebrated anniversaries, graduations, holidays, like Christmas, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and so much more here. It is practically like a tradition. The staff and service are high-quality and greatly trained. We know some of the servers by name and even request to see them because they are that great. Love the pralines by the door. Garlic bread & biscuits are good. French Toast never disappoints. Some of our favorite desserts are the Banana’s Foster, Bread Pudding, Mississippi Mud Pie and Strawberry Shortcake. Live band is awesome, friendly and nice. They sometimes take song requests. Would especially recommend coming here for brunch. Most lively on the weekend like Saturday or Sunday. Would definitely recommend!

Last night, we had the pleasure of dining at Brennan’s of Houston, and it was truly a remarkable experience. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and valued.Dylan was a standout during our visit. He gave us a delightful tour of the chef’s table, sharing insights and how to book it and about their theatre shuttle to and from the restaurant. His enthusiasm was infectious, and he took the time to engage with our younger family members, even showing them a fun trick.Dylan's patience and vibrant personality added a special touch to our evening. Christian also made a fantastic impression with his charming and outgoing demeanor. He exuded warmth and made our group feel particularly special throughout the meal. Emmy was another wonderful addition to our experience, being attentive and accommodating. Our server, Christopher, was exceptionally accommodating. He regularly checked in on our table, making sure we had everything we needed. His personal touch and insightful recommendations helped enhance our meal significantly.Overall, the atmosphere at Brennan’s and the exceptional service from everyone made our dinner unforgettable. We look forward to returning and would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a pleasant dining experience.

Had the best time at Brennan’s for happy hour! Julisa behind the bar was lovely and super friendly making the great food and drinks even better! Cocktails for $10, wine for $8 and loads of bar bites all of which were amazing. I didn’t get a picture of the loaded deviled eggs because they were that good I preferred to inhale them rather than photograph them. I can see why they’ve been a favourite spot in Houston for so long. I will definitely visit again for lunch or dinner!

Easily one of the best restaurants in Houston! My family have come here for decades and the service, ambiance, and food have always been extraordinary. Tonight we had the pleasure of being waited on by Manuel, Jaden & Ramon. My favorite restaurant by far. I come here for special occasions and non-special occasions—basically whenever I can. The service is exceptional; they’ve handled everything from a mother-in-law’s birthday party to anniversaries with ease. I’ve even catered holiday meals from them, and they’ve delivered every time. To me, this place sets the standard. I can imagine there might be a better restaurant somewhere in Houston—I just haven’t found it yet. It may not be Commander’s Palace, but it’s about 300 miles closer, so I’ll take it. The turtle soup is outstanding, the off-menu items are a treat, and the special-event meals are always memorable.

We loved every minute of or dinning experience. The food was delicious, the drinks were amazing and the desert was so savory. We will be back for sure.

This is a very old school and well known fine dining establishment. Sister restaurant to Commanders palace. I ordered the snapping turtle soup and gulf fish Pontchartrain. The turtle soup was so good and meaty. It almost tasted like a chili with how soft and tender the meat was with the soup and good flavor. The Gulf fish Pontchartrain was also great. The shrimp and lump crab and fried flounder (fish of the day) were all excellent with the creole sauce. The fried oysters were ok and wish they were fried a bit more. The staff was very nice and our waiter (Alison) was very charming and funny and extremely helpful in suggestions and the service. She was very nice in suggestions around Houston proper also. The decor is very neat and the atmosphere is lovely with a family type vibe. The holiday spirit at this time was also felt with a sleigh bell necklace given to us as we were greeted...it felt like we were treated as family.

A friend of ours made us a reservation for 6:30pm here for our date night and what a treat!! I was greeted by the hostess telling me that I looked Amazing. We were seated in a corner with large High back winged chairs, very cozy and comfortable. Low lights with candle lighting on the tables. Reminded me of Jack Binion’s in Bossier City. They by far have the most amazing garlic bread you will ever put in your mouth. I know what you’re thinking, Garlic bread? It’s light and fluffy and will melt in your mouth. As the waiter said, it’s addictive. We ordered drinks and not only do they have a wine list, but also a bourbon 🥃 list. We had 2 dozen oysters on the half shell, Snapping Turtle Soup, Gumbo, Bananas Foster and Creole bread pudding. The oysters were good and a decent size. I ordered the gumbo but it was so spicy I couldn’t eat it and they forgot the rice. But on the other hand, I wound up eating the Turtle soup with sherry that I had always turned my nose up at just for the mere thought of turtle. It was a different flavor that I can’t put into words other than it was delicious and was glad I tried it. I liked it better than the gumbo. The bread pudding was okay. I wish I had asked for the dessert menu, but hopefully will get a chance to return and try some of the other dishes. My only issues are with the menu. I would suggest they look into the lighted menus like Jack Binion’s. I noticed lots of tables including ours using their cell phone flashlight to read them. Not very classy in a restaurant of this quality. My other issue only came after seeing other picture’s of the menu. It seems our menu was very limited compared to the one’s online and did not have a lot of dishes that I would have ordered. By the way, we were on a time crunch for Reservations to a show and the staff prepared the bananas foster in record time! Our waitstaff was superb!

P

We wanted to take my husband out to a nice dinner for his birthday and saw they had an HRW menu. Made reservations and valet only $5. Service was on the slower side getting drinks/water refills and especially waiting for the check. Food was good with larger than expected portions. They also had a kids menu which was nice since I had a picky eater. Crabmeat cheesecake was surprisingly good and the bananas foster presentation was great.

Fine dining by the same organization known for the New Orleans venue. To me, it’s where middle class people think rich people go to eat. I can’t really be objective because the kind of pretentiousness these kinds of places portray are not my cup of tea. However, the food was good, served appropriately quickly, and with a smile — even if the smile was of a friendemy instead of a true friend. The place is perfectly fine and appropriate for most people in the Houston area who want to show off during a fancy lunch or dinner, or want to pretend they are in New Orleans for a couple of hours. If you’ve never been to Brennen’s in New Orleans, it’s a great opportunity to see what it’s like.

Excellent food, loved the sauces on the fish. The seafood was great. Fresh oysters were delicious. Rice was tasty. The beignets are a must for dessert, they were super fluffy and came with a delicious coffee latte sauce for dipping. Wine selection was great. Loved the complimentary garlic butter bread. Maybe the entrees are overpriced for the portion size, but the rest of the menu is cost-value. The venue is great, super nice ambience. Good music selection, not loud at all. The place offers an elegant vintage atmosphere. A must for a nice, cozy dinner in Houston.

My friend and I picked this place for a Thursday happy hour. We arrived just after happy hour, so we didn't get to experience it. We stayed and ordered dinner and sat outside in the courtyard. Our drinks were pretty good. I ordered the gulf shrimp and grits which was cooked table side. This was such a cool experience and I loved the dish. I felt like I was in New Orleans eating a great creole meal. I'd love to come back and try some of the desserts. Overall the atmosphere and service was good, all of the staff were so attentive. I would love to host a dinner party here!

Came here for a Christmas party, and some of the food was tasty but I wasn't very impressed. The drinks were not very flavorful and fresh to me. The banana foster had melted ice cream and the bananas were hard. Not sure if it was because it was a large party but not an overall wow experience.

This place is pretty good. Came for dinner and got the crabmeat cheesecake, the snapping turtle soup, the lobster dome soup, and the bananas foster. Everything was fine but I’d only get the snapping turtle soup and the bananas foster again. The lobster soup was good for a soup but I prefer a more creamy, bisque-like texture. Service has its faults - having to ask for a spoon for my soup and not having prompt water refills shouldn’t be expected at a white tablecloth dinner

The service was very good. Seemed to have a personal touch. The food was good but I expected a bit more spice out of a creole place. The beignets were super. It was cold there also but some rooms were a bit warm. Maybe let them know which you prefer. I don’t like being cold !

We came for restaurant week. Had a delicious espresso martini and upgraded to have the chili fried oysters which were fantastic ($10 up charge), best part of the meal! Then the vegetarian enchiladas which was good the veggies were extremely fresh. We shared the bread pudding for dessert and it was delicious and warm and paired well with the fruit. The service was nothing crazy special (from what we experienced) but definitely saw other serves going above and beyond for customers birthdays and other celebrations!

Brennan’s is a very good restaurant. Some of the items we enjoyed, particularly the desserts were wonderful. The main dishes were very good, but did lack some of the flavors I’d expect. The staff was outstanding but the dining room seemed a bit dated and worn.

EMC Le Sait Tout

Giving it an average of 4. The atmosphere is always nice. And the appetizers and desserts were very good, the entrees were ok and the drinks were strong! 🔥🔥 My one food critique is wondering why they choose to use goat cheese with the Shrimp and Grits, as it ruins the grits texture completely. 🤷‍♂️ Francisco, the Captain is great. He was eager to share old and new stories about Brennan’s, which I hadn’t been to in a while but saw the piece on Eat like a Local with Chris Shepherd. (Someone please get him on a training regimen). The new bar is beautiful, but they need to add those 25 cent Martinis to happy hour not lunch. Nobody should be going back to work after having one let alone two of their martinis. 👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼 Francisco’s staff while very attentive were somewhat clumsy. The hostess is a little dry, needs to be more personable and welcoming. I will give the owner credit for following up with us the next day via text to ask us to please come in again before this review. Obviously, service is priority no. 1 for him.

We recently visited here for celebrating our anniversary date night on a Friday evening. We were able to make a reservation through Resi which was great. We parked with the valet ($5) and were greeted by the host upon entrance. We were seated right away and were welcomed by our server. The ambience was beautiful with dim lights perfect for a romantic dinner. We were served with a complimentary small plate appetizer and garlic bread which was really nice. I ordered Filet mignon, side of mash potatoes and my husband ordered pasta with chicken and shrimp. For the first half service was decent, we were checked upon a couple of times but the second half was pretty disappointing. Our server seemed to be attending other tables (large parties that were probably ordering drinks and more expensive items). The place was still only 20% full. We kept waiting on our server after dessert well finished but no one wanted to attend to us. Since we were done and had other plans after dinner, I had to call for another server to get us our check. Till the very end, our main server did not attend to us to ask how everything went. Lots of different seating sections and a beautiful patio seating available as well. The food tasted delicious but the slow and inattentive service is not what we expected from this place. It would have been great to get the dessert comped specially if someone is celebrating their birthday / anniversary etc.

The food was good but could have been hotter. There was a lack of coordination between our server and his assistant. Visited for the jazz brunch on a Sunday. The band goes around the restaurant to perform in different areas/sections, which is nice because they are very good, however, I would've liked more band exposure (we only heard them for about 5 minutes and we were there for 1.5 hours). The food was good. I was not happy with a salad (Jill Jackson salad - which was tasty) that I'd ordered because it should have had a soft boiled egg but instead had half an overcooked, hard-boiled egg (you only get half). I mentioned it to the waiter and didn't return the salad, however, he bought me a better egg half, which was great. Aside from that, the service was so-so. Our server wasn't very attentive, and we didn't see him too often. I also had food pieces and crumbs in my menu, which was gross. I had the Shrimp Sabine and it was really good, just a very small portion. My friend had the Bobwhite Quail Beignet and she loved it.

Arun Nair

My three star rating is taking into account the hype of this restaurant and the menu prices. In true New Orleans fashion, the service here is slow and relaxed. All the staff was very friendly. However I was not impressed with the taste of many of the food items. The cocktails were amazing and the garlic bread was great. We got a trio of soup and the butternut squash was extremely sweet, to point that it tasted like dessert. The turtle soup and gumbo were decent. But my first disappointment was the grilled oysters. It did not taste fresh by any means and just left a weird aftertaste in your mouth, and you should never get that feeling after eating oysters. The Gulf fish and the crabcake main entrées were very good. However the lamp chops were not. It tasted like some sort of barbecued sweet lamb chops instead of what I would expect from a creole restaurant. That was a huge disappointment for a member of our party. For dessert we got the beignets and the bananas Foster tableside flambé and they were both really great. The consensus was that we would come back here just for desserts but not for a full meal in the future because their other dessert items on the menu looked really good too.

We were a table for eight. This is an annual get together to celebrate two anniversaries and two birthdays. We all ordered from the wine and dine menu. In the past the beef entre was an eight ounce…

I was in with a party of 4 at noon yesterday. My husband and myself along with the other two people in the party have all been ill since visiting. I’m pretty sure your lobster was not fresh or old but we all threw up and have been having a really rough time even over night! This was not the experience I was hoping for as it was a Christmas gift to my family :( I emailed you this and haven’t heard back. I would also say very unprofessional. We spent over $500 here at the kitchen table experience and walked out with food poisoning and no response via email!

While the culinary standards at Brennan’s remain high, the service during a recent visit fell significantly short of the reputation this institution holds. I chose Brennan’s to celebrate my parents’ 40th wedding anniversary—a milestone for which our family frequently chooses this establishment—but the experience was defined by neglect and unprofessionalism. Despite noting both the anniversary and my specific food allergies on the reservation, the execution was flawed from the start. We were seated at an undressed table cluttered with extra silverware and dishes, which set a disorganized tone for the evening. The staff seemed unaware of our celebration, asking if we were "celebrating anything" despite it being the primary reason for our visit. Most concerning was the server’s lack of basic culinary knowledge regarding my allergies. Despite the ticket explicitly listing my restrictions, the server was unable to distinguish between egg and dairy. This is a significant safety risk in a fine-dining environment. Throughout the meal, we were consistently ignored. We had to request water and coffee refills multiple times, and no staff member checked on us after the entrees were served. The food was, as expected, exceptional. However, the meal was overshadowed by the manager's response when I raised these concerns. Rather than offering a standard apology, the manager took a defensive and adversarial stance. He proceeded to "fact-check" my claims by printing out our reservation ticket to prove that our occasion and allergies were indeed noted—effectively confirming that the staff had the information but simply failed to act on it. When I expressed that I expected a higher level of attentiveness for a 40th anniversary, he dismissively replied, "You should have seen what we did for Christmas." To be met with such condescension after a milestone celebration was deeply disappointing. While the kitchen continues to perform at a high level, the front-of-house management and service staff failed to provide the basic hospitality and safety protocols required of a restaurant of this caliber. I can no longer recommend Brennan’s for special occasions where service and respect are expected. Dinner service date: December 27, 2025

Me and my wife went For an enjoyable night Only too be met with loud and obnoxious guest, sitting all around us so loud in fact that we could barely hear ourselves. Think the waiter was courteous, but forgot Several items that we asked him for also the steak that we ordered well done came Back to the table bloody twice the best part of the dinner was the dessert. This wasn’t our first time going to Brennan‘s. We had an awesome experience the first time for my wife’s birthday so we decided to Make this our place for our date night unfortunately we left with a bad taste in our mouth, literally And figuratively and what is most, unfortunate is that I’m a New Orleans native who has been to the original restaurant several times
