Opiniones de Flora Houston
The food is authentic Mexican. Everything we have tried is delicious. The tortillas, salsas and chips are made in house. They have indoor and outdoor seating and a bar. There are two dozen unique chandeliers and live music.
Took the wife out her for anniversary dinner, unknowing to me that she had been here many times before. It was HRW -houston restaurant week and we are like kings. The menu allowed for us to try 2 appetizers, 2 meals, and 2 deserts, on the side we ordered even more. Great 1st time expedite for me as scenery and the caliber of food was really high. Good is amazing. Deserts were over point! Great job Flora Kitchen.
Would give it 10 stars if I could. Reservations recommended. Bar available. Very friendly staff. I had the Flora margarita, and my husband had the The Grant margarita. The drinks were delicious. Food was exquisite. We had quacamole and chips as an appetizer. They mix it at your table so you can determine if you don't want an ingredient or want less of it. For dinner, Ihad the shrimp mojo de ajo, and my husband had one of the dinner specials - the short rib with mole sauce. The shrimp was perfect with just the right amount of garlic and a hint of spice. The short rib was so tender, it fell off the bone. For dessert, I had the flan - exquisite - and my husband had the churros with caramel sauce and ice cream - perfection. Both of us had a carajillo for an after dinner drink - dangerously delicious as you can't taste the alcohol. Expensive evening that was worth every penny.
The view is everything! Upon arrival, valet is available for a very reasonable price. They will even carry an umbrella for you if it's raining! The area around the restaurant is stunning, so the short walk to the back of the building is pleasant. The interior is beautifully decorated, but the true masterpieces are the huge windows showing off the surrounding trees. I honestly came here for the view, but the food was good as well. If you're looking for really good Mexican food, I wouldn't place this as your top choice. However, if you are looking for a grand visual experience - definitely check it out! Also, they do have a resonable dress code, so be mindful of that before arrival.
The food was absolutely delicious! I had dinner last night with friends to celebrate a birthday — everything tasted amazing, and the service was truly spectacular. Such a wonderful evening!
Do yourself a favor and visit this lovely restaurant! I am all about ambience and atmosphere. As you enter the restaurant, a magnificent setting, has a delightful marriage of beautiful chandeliers and the luxuries of modernity welcomes you. This place truly exceeded our expectations! The staff is really friendly. The hostess was very welcoming. Such an excellent way to start our evening. The cocktails are simply amazing. The Flora margarita was a great balance of tequila blanco, lime juice, agave. The food was absolutely amazing – everything we tasted melted in other mouths. The menu offers a wide variety of mouth- watering starters. We had the nachos. The nachos were delicious. The queso was house-made chorizo, roasted tomatillo salsa, tortilla chips. For my entrée I had the mole enchiladas The mole enchiladas were exquisite. All the products were fresh and the dishes had the warmth of homemade food. You can tell the chefs takes great care in selecting the best quality ingredients. For dessert I had the churros with mexican cinnamon, cajeta, house-made vanilla ice cream. What a delicious dessert and a sweet delight to end our evening. This restaurant knows exactly what they’re doing and you can tell making the customers happy is their main priority. The service is unmatched. The staff truly cares about your experience.
I came here for my birthday dinner- first time at Flora. Reservations were made so easily even after we called to add more people they were so patient. The entrance was confusing several from our party passed up the entrance. I know there was construction going on and that could have played a factor. Upon arrival they had valet parking which was so inexpensive. The scenery around is so calming and beautiful when you go inside man oh man it’s beautiful! And let me add the staff reflects the same inviting attitude. We were a party of 7- 4 of us had a cocktail, we had 4 different appetizers and for the most part all got different entrees. For the quality of the food and taste i was not mad at the $370 total. The staff was so attentive and it was such a great dinner.
Went to Flora for my wife's birthday and had an amazing time! The food was exceptional, the cocktails were delicious, and the service was great. Our server, Adriana Z., was very knowledgeable, patient, and kind while she explained some of the dishes to the first-timers at our table. She made sure we were cared for the entire time we were there and played a large role in making sure my wife's birthday lunch was nothing short of fantastic. Thank you, Adriana!
An absolute gem!! I brought my friends from out of town here for lunch. It was their first time in Houston and I wanted to find the perfect place to take them for a girls lunch. Absolutely gorgeous place!!! The food was flavorful and the ambiance was amazing. Our waiter Rico, was great and knew the menu through and through. 10/10!!
Excellent experience for my family as we celebrated my wife's birthday. Great environment and view of Lost Lake.. as we walked in and were quickly ushered to our window seat..which I requested in an online reservation for Sunday... The place was packed but we felt like we were vip due to special attention given to my family by the ladies at reservations stand and waitress and the guy who kept our water glasses full on a hot thirsty afternoon..The chips and salsa were unlike any that I've tasted in Houston. The hostess told me the chips were made with special corn" in house"..as well as the full flavored and non watery salsa..We ordered enchiladas..green and mole..and Papas a la Brava..little potatoes in garlic paprika and aioli sauce..I will be back..excelante mi amigos!!
Flora Kitchen was the perfect venue for our ladies night out! The food was amazing and they had an extensive wine/cocktail menu. Highly recommend the churro dessert! The ambiance and decor was very fancy - this is the perfect location for a date night or formal celebration. I will say that the restaurant is a bit hard to find because it's behind Frida's and in Buffalo Bayou Park. Valet or Uber is the easiest option compared to parking and navigating yourself to the restaurant. Highly recommend Flora for their food, ambiance, and wine.
First and foremost the space is amazing whether you are sitting inside or out. Location is incredible but if you are driving be prepared for valet. The staff was friendly and the food and cocktails were great - I especially love the different varieties of ceviche! Something as simple as chickpeas have been elevated and are a wonderful accompaniment to the guacamole. Great space for all occasions and they even have a separate room for private events! Will definitely return.
if I could rate this place a thousand I would. Not only is it beautiful, but it has some of, if not, THE best authentic Mexican food. I love the presentation, the attention to detail, and the taste of the food. We ordered the guacamole and chips to start off and they were so delicious we had to do another round. They were perfectly crispy and the guac was fresh and savory. Perfectly seasoned too. For entree I ordered the Barbacoa- it was cooked to perfection, tender and delicious. The sides were also flavorful and very yum. Drink wise- I order an espresso martini and it might be one of the best ones I’ve had. It was perfect. The ambience is surreal. The chandeliers add so much character and elevate the space so beautifully. Lastly, our waiter was super attentive and fast and made sure everything came out on time! I will definitely be coming back!
Was here for a private event and had a great experience. All the staff members were kind and attentive, Roy and Adriana were two out of many we had and they were all great! Got to have drinks and appetizers, all delicious! Also Flora is a beautiful restaurant.
Flora is an authentic Mexican gem tucked away in Houston. It’s a high-end establishment, and we all agreed it delivers on that promise. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with a focus on genuine Mexican recipes. The menu emphasizes quality over quantity, showcasing well-crafted dishes that highlight the richness of traditional flavors. I tried the aguachile and the street tacos — both were outstanding, made with top-notch ingredients that delivered bold, authentic culinary flavors. The dishes truly reflect the deep roots of Mexican cuisine. It’s rare to find honest, dedicated Mexican food like this, especially far from Mexico itself. Flora offers a refreshing break from the typical Tex-Mex, instead bringing to the U.S. a taste of real Mexican street food and coastal specialties. Each bite transports you straight to the streets of Mexico City or the seafood coasts along the Pacific. Every dish is well-executed and thoughtfully presented. The staff is attentive and professional, matching the high standard set by the food. Though it’s a small restaurant, everything is well-prepared and carefully handled. You might walk in without very high expectations, but you’ll leave impressed — and likely planning your next visit.
Such a beautifully decorated restaurant and the ambiance was very nice. I went for brunch with a friend and there was live music, but not overwhelming. The waiter was attentive and gave great recommendations. I enjoyed the taquitos, but they were small in size. I wasn't too hungry so decided to get the al pastor tacos but they were lacking in flavor... I've had better at street vendors. My friend got the octopus and thought the fish was spectacular. Of course parking is limited so unless you are paying $9 valet or get extremely lucky- expect a walk.
Taste of Mexico Done Right Stepping into Flora felt like being transported to a beautiful treetop restaurant with glass walls and views of Buffalo Bayou and surrounding park. The atmosphere was vibrant yet relaxing, with decor that seamlessly blended modern elegance with old world charm. The food? Simply outstanding. Every dish we tried showcased the freshest organic ingredients from the zesty lime-kissed El Trio Ceviche to the perfectly prepared yellowfin tuna bursting with flavor. The guacamole was a standout—made tableside and seasoned to perfection. The service matched the quality of the cuisine. Our server Andrea was attentive without being intrusive, offering expert recommendations and ensuring our experience was flawless from start to finish. Whether you’re craving authentic flavors or simply want a delightful dining experience, Flora is a must-visit. Coastal Mexican cuisine doesn’t get better than this!
One of the best restaurants I have been in houston so far. Food, drinks and atmosphere were all top notch. Our server was Lorena and she was lovely and very attentive. Would definitely recommend and we will be back!
Came here randomly on a Wednesday night after walking our dog at the park. We didn’t have a reservation, but luckily they were able to seat us on the patio. The inside was very busy, so I’d definitely recommend reserving in advance. They set us up outside with multiple heaters (mid January), brought our dog water right away, and made us feel so welcomed. The menu was incredible, the recommendations were perfect, and everything we ordered was amazing. Omar, the general manager, and our server Yadi turned a simple Wednesday into a very special date night!! They even let us try an item we hadn’t ordered, which was such a special touch. Highly recommend the mussels and the octopus. Honestly, everything was 10/10.
Very nice - went for an early dinner at between 6-7pm had no problem getting seated. However if you go on a weekend I would recommend a reservation. Food was good- high-end mexican food with great flavors. Good drink choices, including some amazing Mocktails, which were very reasonably priced. Service was prompt but not rushed. The server was very knowledgeable and even gave some suggestions not on the menu, which turned out great. Photos are all Mocktails.
Excellent dining experience! My wife picked Flora for a date night and we had such a great evening. Alvaro, our server had some great recommendations for us and his service was top notch. The Viejo Fashioned and Flora Margarita were both very good. The food was excellent and definitely all scratch made. Definitely coming back soon with friends!
On a weekday weahd no problem getting a last minute reservation. It didn't look crowded at all. Pulled up and got seated outside on the balcony. Our server was really friendly and awesome. The drinks were good but the highlights were definitely the shrimp dishes and the burrata salad thing! Yummm. What a fun evening meal. Thanks!
The ambient was amazing inside and nice outdoor space for pictures. The staff is exceptional and very courteous. They even provide me with a stand to hold my purse and clean up my mess from a spilled drink. Food was good. I like their lamb chop and their fish special was great as well. Valet is not validated eith dine-in. Of course with all these amenities, there is bound to be cost. Could be a once a few months visit or a good place for taking your date.
Beautiful little place inside with amazing views outside! Yes the door was a little confusing to find but once inside we were wowed from the start. We had a reservation but even though we were early, they were happy to seat us. We started with the chicken taquitos as an appetizer, very small if you're really hungry, but delicious. The off the menu item was amazing, and the dessert was pure perfection. Our server Adrian was knowledgeable about the menu and the history of some of the dishes. He came by often but did not bug us. He even let me try both the green and traditional mole and I loved the flavors of both. Steep prices but you get what you pay for. Will be back!
I don't know what is best about this place...the location that feels like it's in a remote, wooded area?...the excellent creativity and quality of the upscale Mexican food?...or the attentive service of the attentive staff? All of these are big reasons to eat here. The tequila and mezcal menu is huge, too, so bar options are plenty. Expect to spend about $100/per person for dinner, but you'll leave knowing you had an exceptional experience.
If you’re looking for a perfect brunch patio spot in Houston, look no further! (I recommend reservations though) *The Atmosphere: the outdoor patio sits on the edge of Buffalo Bayou and is surrounded by beautiful, tall trees. There’s a roof on the patio to shelter you from the scorching sun or the drenching Houston rain. It couldn’t be a more perfect spot. They also have heaters if the temperatures are a little on the chilly side. *The Food (brunch): we had the Huevos Benedictinos ($23) and the Huevos a la Cazuela ($22). Both were SPECTACULAR tasting! I’m not a big chorizo fan, but the combination of the chorizo with the chipotle hollandaise on the slightly crisp sopecitos on the Huevos Benedictinos dish was to DIE FOR! I’m in LOVE with this dish!!! , Our server told us that everything is homemade and there is no lard used. Even the refried beans are made without lard – they use olive oil. So if you have any vegetarians in your group, the beans are safe! *The Staff: FANTASTIC! We had a group of 7, and our server was spot on with everything. As usual, we have a LOT of questions when we visit a place like this, and our server had answers for everything! She was very knowledgeable about the menu and also seemed passionate about the restaurant and everything they do there.
A truly enjoyable evening; great service and delicious food. We are extra picky because we love to cook, and the quality of the food was top notch; charred octopus, carnitas, barbacoa. Extra tasty margaritas, too. Alan, Melissa and Omar took excellent care of us. It was our first time dining at Flora and we will definitely return!
Update:Update: February 2025 I feel the quality of the food has diminished. Although the cevichw aguachiles was lovely. *** I really love the decor of this restaurant . Also, the surroundings are so peaceful and beautiful. The food is expertly prepared and well- presented. The service is attentive but terribly rushed, where the waiter leaves you with an unfinished sentence (it happened several times). There was live music, which is a nice touch, but it’s not conducive to having a conversation. The restaurants piped music is also too loud. The food is lovely, but expensive. I will return. ****** A truly beautiful restaurant set-up with views of the Buffalo Bayou and surrounded by trees. The interior is elegant yet unpretentious. The food is absolutely delicious.
We went for a post Christmas celebration to Flora and had. wonderful time! The starters like guac and chips, the cocktails (viejo fashioned, house margaritas), the entres (Chile Relleno, Fish tacos, Barbacoa and more) as well as the dessert selection we tried (the flan, the churros with ice cream and the Tres leches) all were prepared and served wonderfully!!! We went at night so couldn't really enjoy their view but they get nominated often for one of the most beautiful restaurants in Houston. Highly recommend and will definitely return.
Whether it’s dinner or lunch this place is always great. The food is delicious, service is always incredibly friendly and prompt and the atmosphere is always wonderful. I recommend the octopus for an appetizer and the mole chicken enchilada as your meal. But honestly you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu.
I found this restaurant to be beautifully unique. The location nicely tucked away, the tree-laden views gorgeous, the interior drama stunning! The Mole was superb! I can’t wait to go back and order it again because it was so good. I’ve told family and friends about this hidden delicious gem. I am truly grateful for a wonderful dining experience. Well done Flora… 👏👏👏
Daughter always goes to Flora for her special occasions. Both kids were in town so we all went last night, and now we’re all raving. Great ambiance and views are pretty. Service was excellent, with constant yet unobtrusive attention to levels on drinks and serving dishes. Manager was also super! Everything we tried had excellent flavor! Who knew I liked charred octopus? We tried the sopecitos, volcan tostada, ceviche, barbacoa, & the steak and all were delicious. The el pepino was silly good and definitely recommend the carrajillo. Very good churros as well.
Everything was fantastic - food, drinks, service, and atmosphere! For Sunday brunch, they accommodated our large group of 20 people. The amazing guitar player made their dining room experience extra enjoyable. They also have a large outdoor patio for great al fresco dining among the trees. If you’re looking to celebrate a special occasion, Flora is a great choice!
It was one of the most enjoyable restaurant experiences I've had in a very long time. We visited to celebrate my wife's birthday and she was very pleased. The meal was excellent, smoked oysters appetizer to the finale of Tres leches cake. The bar staff was extremely friendly and helpful , especially bartender Chris. He was very knowledgeable about the tequila selection and made great drinks. To be honest , we spent over three hours at the restaurant because we enjoyed ourselves so much. Hats off to the entire staff and management.
Food and drink was outstanding as well as the very kind service. The views are amazing. A great place to go for date night and a perfect place for us to sit before the play we went to downtown. Highly recommend. The little tacos for appetizers were fabulous. The enchiladas and pork carnitas were spot on and delicious.
Great spot with excellent food and service. We picked this place because of the reviews and pictures. The pictures (although were great), do not do this place justice! It is very beautiful with great views. We were promptly greeted by the hostesses upon entering the restaurant. Our server, Audrei, was pleasant, polite and professional. The food and drinks were amazing. I enjoyed the mole enchiladas and highly recommend them. They had a special tequila, reservation de la familia anejo, we were told is specially made for them, that was very good. However, it is a higher price point if budget is a concern. Overall, we can't wait to go back.
Visited here on a recent trip to Houston and found it to be delightful. Service was wonderful and the brunch menu was a nice addition to the regular menu. A musician played live music at a comfortable volume that made conversation easy. Parking is a bit of a challenge, but valet is available.
A Rice University retirement celebration was made truly exceptional thanks to Elle, Stephanie and her incredible team — Ruby Silva and Jorge Perez. From the moment we arrived, their professionalism, warmth, and genuine hospitality were evident in every detail. Elle and Stephanie’s leadership was outstanding, ensuring everything ran seamlessly while making our group feel sincerely welcomed and well cared for. Ruby and Jorge were equally wonderful — attentive, gracious, and always one step ahead in anticipating our needs. Their level of customer service reflected genuine pride in their work and a sincere concern for every guest. The food was absolutely fantastic. The bacon-wrapped jalapeños were a huge hit — perfectly prepared with just the right balance of flavor and spice. The fajitas were delicious and served sizzling hot, full of bold, fresh flavors. The guacamole was outstanding — fresh, vibrant, and clearly made with care. And the margaritas were simply excellent — refreshing, perfectly balanced, and the ideal complement to such a wonderful meal. What stood out most was the kindness and authenticity of the entire team. They did far more than provide service — they created a warm, welcoming, and memorable experience for everyone celebrating such a meaningful milestone. Thank you, Elle, Stephanie, Ruby, and Jorge, for helping make this Rice celebration so special. Your exceptional management, hospitality, and genuine kindness made the evening unforgettable. We are truly grateful and look forward to returning again. Kind regards, Chris.
I have had a meal at Flora twice in 36 hours! The food and service were outstanding. Our family has declared Flora is our new favorite restaurant. Dinner on Friday night was fun and lively, and brunch on Sunday was relaxing. The food was delicious on both days. Lastly, we are excited our dog is allowed on the patio because we plan to return many more times. A shout out to Ruby who delivered amazing and kind service and we are grateful to meet Omar who does a wonderful job managing the restaurant.
My daughter’s and son in law’s Rehearsal Dinner was in their private party room and everything was beautiful!! We had wonderful weather so we were able to take advantage of the patio and deck! The food is so fresh and everything is made in house! Highly recommend!
This is my second visit to Flora and I just absolutely love this concept. I’ve come for Valentine’s Day with my mom, and for my birthday, and both occasions were extremely special because of Flora. The food I cannot say enough about. I’ve only been for brunch (both times) but everything on their menu that I’ve had is amazing. Their red snapper ceviche *is actually* my favorite ceviche in the city so be sure to give that a try! Their Bloody Marys are also wonderful if you drink. The service here is also lovely and there’s always a lot of care put into checking on tables and making sure everyone is having a lovely time. And not to state the obvious but - this *location* is stunning. If you’re looking for a “vibe” - this is it. The views of the oak trees and bayou are beautiful. We’ll be back!
We visited a lively local bar renowned for its extensive tequila selection. Romeo, along with a few other skilled bartenders, expertly crafted our drinks, which were consistently excellent. The bar offers a wide variety of tequilas, allowing patrons to sample unique and rare flavors. The ambiance is vibrant and inviting, complemented by stunning views of the city skyline that create a memorable atmosphere.
Flora never disappoints. Had a nice meal with the Mrs. We went for brunch on Sunday. Service was excellent and the food was brought out efficiently. Shrimp tacos were great and Chicken Milanese was delicious but was missing tomatillo sauce on all the chicken so some bites were bland. Did not order dessert because some jackwagon came in and sat next to us listening to a video on his cell phone. He clearly knew what he was doing and had the volume up when at the hostess stand where management was. They should have stopped it immediately. My wife did her best stare down with the guy but… Hope to return again minus the annoyance. Ambiance beside that dude is lovely, welcoming and enjoyable.
WHAT A WAY TO CELEBRATE MY FIRST DAY OF MARRIAGE ♥️ The ENTIRE experience was awesome from start to finish. The manager ALEX is such a gem. He treated us well and actually remembered us from our first date so he was elated see us return on our day of marriage and he celebrated us properly. I must also mention the bartender CARLOS he makes a drink like we've never tasted anywhere else.... This is our favorite place to go together.... We will never forget how we were treated. We've agreed all of our anniversaries will be here... I can't thank them enough!!!!!!!!!!!!
My repeat visit to Flora during happy hour was truly outstanding, and Lindy made the entire experience memorable from start to finish. I was there with my friends Ty and Vince, and from the moment we sat down, Lindy’s humor, kindness, and genuine warmth set the tone for a fantastic evening. He has a wonderful way of engaging with guests—friendly, personable, and effortlessly attentive. Lindy demonstrated impressive knowledge of both the food and drink menu, offering thoughtful suggestions and answering every question with patience and enthusiasm. His recommendations were spot on. During happy hour we enjoyed the nachos, taquitos, and street tacos, all of which were delicious and perfectly prepared. To go with the food, we had the regular margarita as well as the mango margarita—both refreshing and expertly made. What truly stood out was Lindy’s exceptional customer service and attentiveness. He checked in at just the right moments, making sure our drinks were refreshed and that we had everything we needed without ever feeling rushed. His professionalism, combined with his natural humor and welcoming personality, made the entire happy hour experience relaxed, fun, and memorable. Lindy is a fantastic representative of the hospitality at Flora. If you’re lucky enough to have him as your server, you can expect outstanding service, great conversation, and a truly enjoyable dining experience. ⭐🍹 Regards, Chris
Lovely, friendly, welcoming. There are plenty of seating options, inside, outside covered and outside open. There is even a private dining room. We had guacamole and chips to share, followed by beef Totastados. The service was attentive and prompt and the servers were very knowledgeable about the food and drink menus and recommened a red wine that was exactly what I hoped for. A great place to hang out with friends in a chilled environment.
My recent birthday celebration at Flora was truly outstanding. Although there was a brief wait past our 7:30 pm reservation, the attentive staff and manager quickly made amends with complimentary drinks for my party. The food, drinks, and atmosphere were all exceptional. I highly recommend Flora and look forward to dining with you again. Best, Sonia
Lindy was our server and he’s amazing! The food was more than I expected, marinated skirt steak was my favorite, the softest fajita I’ve ever tasted, our drinks were fresh and I have nothing more to say than AMAZING😮💨 thank you to our server for the best recommendation! (Also the octopus with chorizo and sweet potatoes was great!)
My wife and I had a wonderful experience at Flora. We were greeted warmly as soon as we walked in, and our server took great care of us the entire evening. She was attentive, friendly, and made sure we always had what we needed. Manager Omar also stopped by our table a couple of times to check on us and even took the time to explain the authenticity behind their food. He shared how they make their tortillas and chips completely from scratch, starting with grinding the corn and walking us through the whole process. It was impressive and made us appreciate the quality even more. The highlight of our visit was the octopus , hands down the best we’ve had so far. Everything from the flavor to the presentation was excellent. Overall, a fantastic experience. We’re looking forward to coming back.
First off, we came here primarily because of the scenery and beautiful ambiance. Did not expect the food to be so great as well. Tried the fish tacos both ways along with the crispy potatoes, and chips & salsa. Everything was delicious, and our server was very attentive. Piña colada was also great.
Flora is an authentic Mexican restaurant that manages to excel for its food and setting. In a city with excellent “real” Mexican restaurants, Flora distinguishes itself by featuring some delicious dishes on its menu. The tuna tostada is a standout, as are the barbacoa and carnitas. During brunch they offer a delicious and unique desert. You can taste the Pan de Elote, which is a sweet corn bread served with honey marscapone. Be advised that it sells out. Finally their bar serves delicious concoctions with flair. All of this in one of Houston’s most beautiful settings. The main dining room is lovely, but can be cool and a little loud. Their outdoor patio is a little less formal, but puts you closer to nature. If the weather is nice, sit outside. If you prefer a “buzzier” atmosphere, inside is the place for you.
If I could choose one restaurant to go to every day, it would be Flora. It’s my go-to for all occasions: birthdays, anniversary dinners, showing off Houston to guests. The moment you walk in, the place feels magical. The chandeliers sparkle above you, and floor-to-ceiling glass windows let in soft light and views of the greenery outside. The décor blends elegance and warmth in the most beautiful way. The service is always so welcoming and attentive. Every time I visit, I hope to get Jireth as my server. She’s kind, observant, and always makes sure our drinks stay full and our table stays taken care of. She truly makes me feel seen. Food-wise, the carnitas are perfection. The beans are some of the best I’ve had, and the homemade tortillas are excellent. And Flora’s margarita The Grant? Pure magic! A spicy hint from jalapeño, balanced with perfect reposado and mezcal. Flora honors authentic Mexican food while adding creative touches. My taste buds are always surprised and delighted. Every time I leave, I already can’t wait to come back. Flora is a must for anyone visiting or living in Houston.
Went to Flora for dinner with my husband & daughter this evening & everything was FABULOUS!!! From the decor, ambiance, food & cocktails to our amazing waiter Gustavo. For our appetizers we had the octopus (AMAZING), a dozen oysters on the half shell, and the beef fajita nachos. For our entrées, we had the milanesa and the mole enchiladas. My husband and I had margaritas for our cocktails. Everything was absolutely delicious!
My boyfriend chose this restaurant for our monthly date night and it did not disappoint. From the ambiance, to the service, it gave top tier. There is someone always there to assist and serve you and our server, Desiree (Desi) was top notch. She knew the menu as if she cooked every dish herself. She knew what sauces paired well with each dish and even told us what we should try next on our next visit. She was pleasant, hospitable and gave recommendations based on my vegetarian diet. The decor was absolutely beautiful and was a perfect end to a perfect night. We will be back and we will tell our friends!
Gorgeous ambiance! The beautiful dining is room surrounded by glass looking out at the trees while listening to guitar music and dining on scrumptious food - what’s not to love!!?? We had the grilled shrimp, the green enchiladas, and of course the Churros - complimented with mimosas & French 75’s. The service is top-notch - it was absolutely the right choice before we headed to the Houston Ballet. Thank you for a wonderful experience!
What a beautiful restaurant! Not only is located in the Bayou, at Allen Parkway, but it’s like a little hidden and magical place right in the heart of Houston! Let me start with the fact that they have valet but you can also find parking on your own and do a little walk and enjoy the Bayou view. The restaurant is know for having gorgeous chandeliers, literally everywhere, it’s elegant yet cozy and perfect for a date or brunch. They have a brunch menu and also a special sips menu and all her drinks are beautifully decorated and taste delicious. The food is Mexican inspired, but with an upscale touch, we tried Huevos divorciados and Chilaquiles, you will love them! The octopus tostada appetizer , chef kiss! They have good service and the manager is always making sure you are well taken care of. With indoor and outdoor seating and a private room for special events, Flora is a restaurant that is perfect for every ocasión!
Food is amazing. The only thing I would say is the portions on a few of there meals such as the appetizer with chips, queso and chorizo is very small to share. The shrimp tacos are amazing but very small serving. It shoupd be 4 tacos instead of 3. I beleive the portions/ serving size should match the price.
A delightful restaurant offering delicious, flavorful dishes with a Mexican Flair and stunning decor that perfectly complements its scenic location near Buffalo Bayou Park. The attentive, knowledgeable staff go above and beyond, happily answering any questions and enhancing the dining experience. A perfect spot for a special occasion or a relaxed meal with a view!
Excellent location, I was surprised by the decoration with its beautiful lamps on the ceiling. The attention was very good. The lamb was exquisite, I recommend it. They only needed a good coffee to finish, they do not have decaffeinated coffee and no lactose-free milk option or lactose free dessert.
Came here for my friend's birthday which she had a reservation for, they pushed it back and she ended up waiting 30 minutes or more to be seated which I think is ridiculous when you have a reservation. When I got there she told me this and they were seated. The server was great and attentive, the food came out and everything was fresh and delicious. The drinks did take a bit to come out but they were good. The place is gorgeous with plenty of seating inside and outside I believe as well. They have only valet parking so that's a bit annoying but it's because of the location of the place. It's very enjoyable but the only issue was the waiting time, especially because it was a birthday celebration.
It’s a cool little restaurant with its own take on Mexican food. Food was 7/10 The theme was pretty good as well definitely worth coming to for business meetings or dates. It’s definitely loud and hard to talk sometimes or be heard. Valet was 10 dollars and the parking is a hit or miss if you can find a spot. Late night dates would definitely be fun.
Went for a holiday dinner with friends. Manager and waiter were both very nice. However for what we paid we didn't think the Food was worth it or that good. Many of the dishes were small and not that special and some were overly salted. So many other resteraunt in Houston with better mexican style food
The food was flavorful, service was amazing, and the atmosphere was immaculate! Yari was so very attentive and sweet. I was the only vegan in the party and Yari helped me by letting me know what entrees could be made vegan, and made sure everything was prepared to meet my needs. I ended up getting the enchiladas (veganized) with a side of avocado hummus. Along with the mocktail Golden Hour which was really tasty.
Went to this restaurant with a large party the first time around and we were well taken care of. The food was good and would definitely go back for seconds.
We arrived at 2:35. Our reservation was at 2:45. We weren’t seated until 3:33. It was crowded. It was Mother’s Day. We waited outside because the bar was full too. While we waited, a lady brought out quesadillas and margaritas. That was nice. Because we were so hungry. Once we got to our table, the dining room wasn’t as packed. I really liked the decor. The chandeliers were beautiful and they had these cute mini coat holders that we hung our purses on. That was a nice idea. They brought us water a few minutes after we sat down. We ordered red snapper tacos (I can’t remember exactly what it was called). It had red cabbage on top, a red sauce, and avocado on the side. Delicious. We got cocktails. I had a Mexican Martini. It was good. I can’t remember the name of the drink my daughter had. But she said that it was strong. She drank it all. For dinner/late lunch, I had green enchiladas a la caymus. My daughter had milanesa. We cleaned our plates! We ordered a bottle of wine—- August Kesseler and for dessert, I had tres leches and my daughter had churros. At the last minute, my daughter decided to order potatoes. They were small and they had a spicy sauce and a really good seasoning on top. Delicious.
From the moment you walk in, the ambiance is warm, inviting, and stylish — perfect for a romantic date night or a special dinner with friends. The food is good; every dish is beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. Loved their fish tacos, mole enchiladas, Chicken tinga tostada. The ingredients taste fresh, and you can tell a lot of care goes into the menu. The service was also top-notch — friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable without being overbearing.
I celebrated my birthday last night at Flora, I had this place on my list to visit for some time. Easy to find, excellent location, valet parking is almost mandatory, most of the spots are reserved ($10) The place is exquisite, the chandeliers elevate the atmosphere to the next level, good music. Impeccable host, excellent work, super friendly and attentive. The server was quite friendly, I liked her drink recommendations. We were a group of 10 people, the food service was extremely disorganized, only 3 dishes arrived at the table and the rest took about 10-15 minutes longer, one of the managers approached the table, apologized, and offered complementary desserts that never arrived and were never mentioned or checked again. The food was generally presented and flavorful, but I feel the portions are too small compared to other similar Mexican restaurants.
We had a great time celebrating our anniversary at Flora. The food was great and the service was excellent - shoutout to our sever George! Overall I think other Mexican restaurants can offer just as good of quality of food for a lower price - but we enjoyed our meals and were happy with what we ordered. Valet service was quick and efficient - but it’s not optional at $10. What really tainted our experience was that made a reservation but unfortunately we were not seated right away. We waited about 15 minutes to sit at our table which was disappointing because we booked in advance. It was very crowded and I think they overbook the place. The atmosphere of the restaurant was beautiful though. Their drinks were delicious. I don’t drink and was pleased to see they had a selection of mock-tails. I got the golden hour which was so refreshing and tasty. They brought out complimentary cotton candy for our anniversary which was such a nice touch. Overall - a good experience for the atmosphere/vibe and we would go back but there are other options for just as good if not better food and faster service.
The view is relaxing and the drinks are good. The service was excellent. The live music was a really nice touch. The main course of the parilla for 4 was a satisfying, tasty portion even with 2 teenage boys. The serving size for the pico de gallo and guacamole was unexpectedly small. The chips cost extra and it was in bad taste to continuously bring more when there was no need for them. The oyster shot drink had a rotten oyster and I managed to spit half out. Understandable mistake but it should have been picked up with a quick smell. I’d still come back and recommend but with caveats above.
I went for a friend’s birthday and ordered from the Houston Restaurant Weeks menu, and I’m glad I did because full price is not worth it. Overall, it just felt like something was missing, but maybe that’s because my palate is used to a flavorful authentic Mexican. If you are looking for a very contemporary Mexican food experience, this might be the place for you. Service is excellent and atmosphere is aesthetic. The flan and skirt steak themselves were exceptionally good, skirt steak was soft and tender, but everything else lacked flavor. Grapefruit Spritzer mocktail was good. Salsa that came with the sopes tasted too much like lime and was not spicy. The rice was bland. I was just not impressed by the food.
Beautiful place and excellent service, but $81 per pound for skirt beef fajitas? I was expecting a miracle to come with them. Maybe they should check with a Gringo’s chef how they do it. Come on—dial the greed back a bit. You’ll still do just fine.
We visiedt Flora for Mother’s Day. We had reservations and were seated right away. As we were being seated they informed us of their 2 hr maximum table seating due to the crowd. The ambiance and decor were beautiful. The drinks were on point, Specifically the frozen margaritas. The shrimp nacho appetizer was very good. The guacamole was fresh but definitely small portion for the price, unlike the size in the website photo, and we had to ask for more chips a couple of times before we got them. We did not experience the same warmth and pleasantness from the staff. Our waiter was always in a hurry and never smiled.. While could taste the freshness of the main courses, they were not very seasoned. The Carnitas de Puerco were tender some flavor but not bursting with flavor, The Pescado a La Talla, was fresh but lacked flavor and not worth the $65 price. The beans, rice, and mushrooms were not as flavorful. And the churros were just ok. The flan was tasty. Overall if I were to return it would be for the beautiful scenery, drinks, and perhaps a different food selection. But probably won’t return, as the staff were not as welcoming, and taste of the food just not worth the price.
Beautiful restaurant in the park. Entrance is very confusing to find. Margaritas were strong. Queso and salsa were small portions for the price tag. Food was tasty just small portions for price point. They didn’t do anything for our birthday girl. Waters were constantly refilled. Great ambiance for date night. $9 valet, they take credit card. Was hard to find free parking
Look, beautiful place in a gorgeous setting - for Mexican food, however, it is really a bit satirical and very gentrified. The “table side” guacamole is a bit silly and a very small portion, they literally asked me how many shrimp I wanted to add to my salad, and you’re just not going to get the same offerings here in terms of quantity or quality that you’ll get at a classic TexMex favorite. Also they boxed up my shrimp tips with my salad to-go, which was a bit odd… That being said, absolutely gorgeous setting and location! Wish I could rate this higher - Flora feel free to contact me directly if you ever want to make a change! Xx
The aesthetics are absolutely stunning. The service was good and the food was overall okay. Highlights include the oysters and the overall vibe of the restaurant. The drinks were okay and given the price point I do expect a stronger drink. My group and I ordered a huge variety of options including the special, tacos, enchiladas, several appetizers and various cocktails. One negative, I do not believe any Mexican restaurant should be charging $2.00 per salsa. As someone who’s been to countless areas of Mexico for decades, please set your expectations appropriately. I personally had to season the guacamole with salt and pepper because it was a bit bland. Overall, I’m glad we checked out this restaurant but I don’t necessarily have to come back because of the food. Parking is a hit or miss, small area to park since it’s also parking for the cyclist and walkers/runners. 1 star each for the aesthetics, oysters and server.
I was not impressed. I recently dined at Flora in Houston, expecting a fine dining experience but was left disappointed. I ordered the octopus, barbacoa, and two Palomas. The octopus was served without any guidance, and only after a few bites was I asked if I wanted it cut, making the start of the meal awkward. The octopus itself was well-cooked, but the chorizo was overly oily, and the sweet potato was bland. For the barbacoa, despite specifying no dairy, it initially came with cheese on the beans, which had to be replaced. After a lengthy wait, I discovered the meat was actually carnitas, not barbacoa. The carnitas were dry, unseasoned, and lacked any real flavor, relying heavily on the salsa for taste. The service was slow and inattentive. While the atmosphere and location were nice, the overall experience did not meet expectations.
We are regular customers of both Flora Restaurant and Coppa Osteria. The effort of the staff at both places to provide excellent customer service is incredible, and it's unfortunate that one or two people can ruin the efforts of so many others. Yesterday, my husband and I were at Flora Restaurant. I went ahead to ask for a table, and when I arrived, the hostess treated me like no one ever has before, with an absolutely unacceptable attitude. She asked if we had a reservation, I said no, and she despotically offered me two small tables near the entrance, as if she were doing me a favor or giving me charity. I asked for a table in a better location, and she said that people without reservations deserve those tables. When my husband arrived at the door, I told him about the hostess's attitude. She started arguing with me, speaking rudely, and I told her that her attitude was wrong, but she kept arguing. Seeing that we were upset, she grudgingly handed the menus to a very kind waiter, who took us to a table in a better location. One of the managers, Alex Garzón, a very kind person whom we also know, came over, and I told him what had happened. He said he would resolve it. We also spoke with Miguelito, whom we are very fond of; he always tries to make us feel very comfortable at Flora. Even so, it was uncomfortable being there because this hostess was talking to other people, and they would look at us. Then another person, who seemed to be the hostess's sister, also dressed in black, would pass by and look at us angrily. She was even spying on some Asian girls who were next to us and making gestures to the hostess who had treated us badly. It's worth mentioning that there were occupied tables, but the place was never full; there were always tables available, so this hostess also lied. Everything that happened yesterday was absolutely unacceptable. Two people cannot be allowed to spoil the work of so many others. We are thinking of not returning and will only go to Coppa, where Beto, José, Daniels, Oriana, among others, do an incredible job. IT IS IMPORTANT THAT THIS HOSTESS UNDERSTANDS THAT A PETULANT ATTITUDE TOWARDS CUSTOMERS DOES NOT HELP HER ADVANCE, AND THAT SENDING THE OTHER GIRL TO LOOK AT US WITH CONTEMPT WAS A HUGE MISTAKE.
I had a very disappointing experience with the valet attendant, Omar, at Flora Restaurant. Upon arrival, he instructed me to self-park in a valet only parking lot at the very end of the driveway and walk down a trail to the entrance. He stated that if I did not park there, I would have to wait 30 minutes to be able to drive to the front to valet. This turned out to be untrue. What made the situation even more concerning was that immediately after directing me away, he told the cars behind me to pull straight to the front for the restaurant for valet service. There was no wait for them at all. The only noticeable difference was that those drivers were a different ethnicity. The inconsistency in instructions and the apparent preferential treatment were both unprofessional and upsetting. Valet service should be fair and consistent for all guests. I hope management addresses this situation to ensure equitable treatment moving forward.
