This place was amazing. The decor was great in that the lighting was well defused so it was bright enough that I didn't trip over everything but dimmed to set the proper mood. The staff was on point. My friend who made the reservation told them that my wife has a dairy allergy and the waitress made a point to come over and let my wife know which dishes were dairy free or which ones to avoid. In fact, the Baller Board that we ordered was specifically made so that everything on there was dairy free! My wife was so taken back and appreciative of their staff going the extra mile. Come for the service and atmosphere. Come back because the food is delicious.

Perfect service! Steaks with an amazing cast iron sear, a stellar whiskey selection, and a chef owner that does enviable charity work! I’ll absolutely be back! The bill in a wax sealed envelope is a nice touch,

Top contender for bday dinner or fancy date night. We Ordered the “Baller Board”. You allow the chef to add off menu and prime cuts to your board. It’s a carnivores delight but I still had delicious options in the board. I’m a vegetarian so chef made wonderful additions to the board. Friends had whole Lobster tails, 2 (8 oz)wagyu beef, brown butter wild mushrooms, hamburger helper, fried chicken thighs, etc.. meal fit for a Royalty! Desserts do not fall short. I loved the coconut crepe brûlée.

Came to Georgia Jamesfor Houston restaurant weeks was one of my best dining experiences, so many unique features to the menu items. From the slab salad with a unique cheddar blue cheese and bacon lardons to the smoked redfish dip, perfectly tender filet and the pineapple vacherin dessert. Everything was PERFECT!

I had a steak here, I couldn't have enjoyed the experience any more. The steak was seasoned and cooked to perfection. Great wine list and the Tallow old fashioned is a must try.

I went to Georgia James for a birthday dinner for my family member. The way there was a bit tricky due to dimly lit roads and complicated one way streets. Parking is done via valet and if you have a low car (2" ground clearance), ride share or carpool. Walking in you'll be greeted by a display of their aged meats followed by rows upon rows of wine. Past the wine you'll meet a restourant host that will greet you and ask if you have a reservation. My party was already there so we were led to our table. At the table we were handed warm towels, drink, and dinner menus. They filled our water glasses and set out sour dough bread. After which they asked if we wanted anything to drink. 5(?)mins later out drinks were brought out and we were asked about which appetizers we wanted. No one really wanted an appetizer so we skipped to the entree. Our server mentioned food items now on the menu and we ordered those. I ordered and 8 ounce wagyu and a backup burger if that wasn't enough. We talked for about 25 odd minutes and food arrived. Their staff must have been working double time for everything to come out that fast. There was a full house that night. My wagyu gave me mixed feelings. I had a texture and flavor in mind before biting into it. At home I cook steak weekly because it's "easy" to make. I might have gotten used to the way I seasoned, but the wagyu was "too" seasoned. The flavor from the fat marbling should have carried the beef, but in my case the seasoning was most of the flavor. The texture was on point and it was very soft and easy to chew. My burger was really good. Not much else to say I was too focused on the wagyu I forgot to pay attention to the flavors of the sauce and meat on my burger. Dinner was pleasant, our waiter would come from time to time to empty plates and refill drinks and ask if we needed anything. He also took our group picture. My sister's fiance asked for a birthday dessert in secret and later our mother ask for the same thing, but less subtle. Our waiter smiled at the situation and the desert came even before he left our table. The desert was a roasted banana pie. We sang happy birthday and she blew her candle. She had a taste and liked it, but she was full so as a responsible older brother I could not let dessert go to waste, so I inhaled it. The thin banana slices on top were caramelized to a crisp. As for the crust it had a hint of peanut butter and the cream tasted of mocha. After everything, our bill was handed in an envelope with a wax seal. We chuckled at the "unique gift."

I went here on a good night for the first time. And was all nothing but pleased when I left. First is the interior was just absolutely nice in decor and lighting felt nice. When seated, the waiter gave us a warm welcome and offered us great menu items. Then ordered our food. Starting with excellent appetizers, but with a rather off puting taste with some like the short rib. Now the real show came with the meats. I ordered the porterhouse for two. It was cooked perfect medium rare 👌. The meat was tender and juicy from all bites. Personal recommendation. Then the night took off when ordering the dessert menu. I tried something called a brookie sundae. Excellent contrast and flavor from the cookie and brownie. Now wrapping the night off with the check. I felt famous celebrities would show up here. Well at the nick of time, Hugh Jackman the wolverine himself showed up with his family (on 6/15/19 from his show. And showed up at around 7:50-8:30). So when your here, you never know who can show up. Maybe a once in a while place to come. But a really good choice for the best night ever.

Sometimes you just have to listen to the waiter. My man Bryan knew exactly what to suggest. I ordered the Wagyu steak and mushroom side. The sourdough bread starter was awesome and crispy. The dessert was a creme brulee banana topped cream pie. Absolutely delicious. Thank you Bryan buddy! You made my night.

I cook and I can tell you the food here was great. They have exceptional service and you will not be dissapointed. I had the fried chicken and it was mouth watering. I sat at the bar and the bar tenders made sure to be checking on me intermittently. It was very good to have that kind of customer service.

Came for a birthday dinner with friends and was not disappointed. The Smokie and Alice was a good drink to start with, then had East Coast oysters along with the Cajun Viet Oysters and both were tasty. Had the long bone ribeye after and it was among the best steaks I've had. Ended the dinner with the Italian Creme cake which was also great. Service and ambiance were also top notch. Will definitely come back.

AMAZING. The service was impeccable to start. We went for HRW so we started off with appetizers. The redfish salad is to die for and so is the slab salad. The bacon sausage and hash browns were amazing. Then the steaks were perfectly seasoned. Oh and the brussel sprouts were crispy and great. The cajun vinaigrette made them amazing. We got all 3 desserts to try. The pineapple sorbet was the perfect refreshment and the chocolate cake was sweet without a toothache. The banana pudding was good and i dont even like banana pudding.

Wow wow wow. We haven’t dined out much since the pandemic. Making the trip out from Boston, we decided southern hospitality would be the way to start being “normal” again. Boston food is pretty meh and the fine dining scene is pretty subpar so it really isn’t worth risking getting sick over. But Georgia James was definitely worth it. Incredible experience both with food and service. Our waiter (who looked like he was the star of a Nordic tv show) reminded us of what fine dining was all about. We had a fun evening filled with delicious food and great service. He wove tales of the history of the restaurant and sourcing of ingredients amongst informative details of the menu. Really outstanding. Ordered the long bone aged steak. Crust was perfection. Suggested medium and it was finally done right (most steak places can never get the temperature right). A night to remember. Thank you !

Absolutely wonderful. We were surprised at just how good this place was. We were expecting good, but didn't realize it would be this good! Although it is a steakhouse, the wilted kale, gulf fish, and even the bread brought to us in the beginning of our meal all had amazing finesse. You can tell there is major attention to detail and care that goes into the food. I can't wait to go again!

My hubby discovered this gem nestled in the old 4th ward's new center. The wagyu steak was served tableside and melted in your mouth. No steak sauce is required. The truffle mac was amazing, and the Ceasar salad had anchovies that paired perfect in the salad. I will go again and again and again!

We had a fantastic experience at Georgia James! The seared foie gras was amazing, beautiful and perfectly cooked and caramelized. Had it as an appetizer and as a compliment to the wagyu steak. We had the porterhouse and the wagyu steaks, with the smashed potatoes and creamed corn. Everything was cooked to perfection and the crust on the steaks was spectacular. Highly recommend the Irish cream chocolate creme brulee. Austin was our server tonight and did an awesome job with his recommendations on the whiskey & beers. We really enjoyed his upbeat attitude and knowledge of the menu. If you like bourbon, I really enjoyed the Sam Bass drink. You can tell they put a lot of attention to detail in everything they do. Great experience on all the levels.

Two Words: Baller. Board. I could leave the entire review at that and let you explore the culinary adventure that awaits. It's a very trendy and relaxed atmosphere. The cuts are perfect and they prepare everything just perfect. I was very impressed with their appetizers and could have made a meal of the bone marrow tacos alone. The smashed potatoes are an absolute must! The portions are more than enough and for a group of 5 guys we had a great meal.

We came to Georgia James to celebrate our 36th wedding anniversary and were very pleased we did. We reserved our table at 5 PM on Saturday night. They had a full house. Valet parking is complimentary, show your appreciation with your tip. 👍 We were seated in Sorin's section. He excellently described the menu and made suggestions. Sorin took great care of us throughout service and took a drink order to start, my wife had a Hot Toddy. She loved it! Before we ordered we were served a perfect loaf of sour dough bread and smoked beef tallow to dip the bread in. Move over butter! Fabulous! While we were enjoying this, our Viet-Cajun Roasted Oysters arrived. Wonderful with a little heat as expected. We took our time enjoying these items and decided on the salad and main course. Many of their selections are served family style, as is their Slab Salad. Everything about it was fantastic, especially the bacon lardons. There was enough for a light salad for 4 people. For two, portions were more than plentiful. For dinner we enjoyed two of their single serving items, their Gulf Fish, which tonight was Red Snapper, and their 100 Day Hanger Steak. On the side we ordered Wilton Atkinson Farms Kale and Grilled Cauliflower. Both of these were tasty and cooked well. This is where we found the only fault of the night with the food service, the Grilled Cauliflower was nearly room temperature, probably done too early with respect to the other main course items. We didn't mention it as it didn't detract from our experience and was still delicious nonetheless. The Red Snapper was the best entre of the evening and the Hanger Steak, requested medium rare, was cooked perfectly. Truly enjoyed them both. After dinner Sorin brought my wife's Espresso Martini she ordered, a fabulous after dinner dessert drink. We had no room left and in fact had already requested to go boxes for most items (No way were these going to waste) but could not pass up their Roasted Peanut Butter Cream Banana Pie and Pistachio Pavlova. The banana pie was mine, and was literally the best banana pie I've ever had! My wife enjoyed the Pistachio Pavlova. We don't cook with salt at all, not particularly a diet issue, we just don't. So sometimes we find the salt a little too much. This was the case here, but the average person probably would not object. I only say this here so that if you want less salt than more, tell them. When we go again, we will know to ask for no or very little salt. Thank you George James with all your staff, especially Sorin, for a wonderful dinner. The experience was top notch. What we heard about you was so very true. See you next time, cheers!

I just had my birthday dinner here on Saturday and enjoyed every minute of it. I requested the private room and it was perfect for my party and I. It was beautifully set up and the service was great. I recommend this place for a nice date night or birthday celebration.

To be honest, Georgia James was a really fun experience and made a birthday celebration extremely memorable. We got the baller board and for six people it was so much food. The service was impeccable. Every bite was crazy good. You might think the fried chicken would be overshadowed by the other items, but honestly it too was able to claim its well deserved spot on the board.

Houston staple - great environment and steak is to die for. Don’t hesitate to try everything you can and definitely splurge on the long bone ribeye! Great date spot or place to celebrate any occasion. Cocktails are also very good. I do miss spotting Chris Shepherd here though!

I absolutely loved this place! My bf chose this restaurant for our 8th anniversary dinner. It was our first time at Georgia James so I thought I had to try a steak since it's what they're known for. My bf & I both ordered a filet medium rare & it was cooked in a cast iron skillet to create a hard sear which was straight perfection. It was delicious! The sides are definitely shareable, we chose loaded potatoes au gratin which were TO DIE FOR & the charred corn was yummy too! We could barely breathe but now was curious about desserts since dinner was so great. We ordered the pecan pie & it didn't disappoint! The pecan pie was made with honey roasted pecans and served with brown sugar ice cream. The evening was wonderful & the staff was very attentive & knowledgeable about the menu. We definitely will be back! Thank you Georgia James for making our 8th Anniversary dinner so memorable & delicious!

Everything about the Georgia James experience is stellar. The valet parking is spotless in their performance. You hand your keys over and there's a level of trust...you know your car will be safe. The hostesses are quick about getting you to the next step in the restaurant flow. The bar is spectacular and is well stocked with the best of the best. The wine list, you have to experience to understand. Once seated, the professional waitstaff goes above and beyond to provide you with a world-class dining experience. We had a fantastic array of plates. Slab salad was like no other salad I've ever had before - it literally tasted like it was just picked out of the vegetable garden. The dressing reminded me of the creamy thousand islands variety. It's a must try. We also had the Cast iron seared Steak, lobster, creamed mashed potatoes, oysters, wine, Etc. The bread and special butter sauce is stellar. The steak melts in your mouth like butter but with more protein. See for yourself all the great pictures we captured.

Went to Georgia James for a friend's birthday celebration and I was beyond pleased with everything that occurred during our night. The space was not very big but everyone was able to be accommodated. The service was paced well which allowed everyone to enjoy good conversation as the various courses were brought out. The drinks were mixed well and the Old Fashion was on point. Everything we ordered was delicious especially the Long Bone Ribeye and Steakhouse Helper. The banana pie was a delightful dessert. I look forward to another visit.

It’s never disappointing to have dinner here at Georgia James. Whether it’s just to reconnect or to celebrate a special occasion. Georgia James always rise to the occasion. So far the favorites on the menu are The R-C Ranch bone Marrow. Cajun Baked Oysters. Bone-in dry aged Ribeye is definitely a go to for a shareable portion. The Helper is a Mac & Cheese on Steroids and the Potato Gratin is a good side too.

This place was amazing from start to finish. The food was phenomenal. I had the king crabs with mushrooms and some sort of potatoes. My date indulged on some sort of oyster dish. He said it was amazing as well. Everything was delicious. Talia our service was very knowledgeable and on point with her service. This was my first visit, but I will definitely be returning. Thanks Georgia James!

What a great experience from beginning to end! We decided to ask our waiter for the chef inspired Baller Board. This was really a wonderful scrumptious experience. We enjoyed everything on the board and cooked to perfection. Everything was unbelievably delicious from the king crab legs to the meats and sides. I must also say the cocktails are freaking great! Last but not least the staff are very attentive which makes a night like this so perfect! Thank you Georgia James!

Delicious food but I wasn't a fan of the atmosphere. Service was great. Went here for Houston restaurant weeks, which is a great tone to get a deal on the food and support a great cause - the Houston food bank. The food was well-prepared, and the flavors were nice and strong. The steaks were cooked pretty perfectly too.

My family and I came here to celebrate my late father’s birthday together, as we’ve done every year since he’s passed, & to check out a new restaurant during the BEST time to dine out- Houston Restaurant’s Week. Their offers on the HRW Menu were stellar and tasted absolutely amazing. Everything was so tender and flavorful. Chef’s kiss. However, the SERVICE was absolutely above and beyond. Thalia paid attention to every detail of our experience with recommendations at the ready for food and drinks, clarified allergy statuses, and most of all, she provided us a hand written card in honor of my father at the end of the meal. No one has ever done that for us, and it truly meant the world! Thank you, Thalia, for really making this annual dinner very warm to us.

Great steakhouse. A bit pricier than others, but you get the full fine dining treatment - so overall fair value. Beef carpaccio tasted great. And the filet mignon was cooked perfectly (mine was medium rare). The service was super attentive! The atmosphere is very appropriate - luxury, white cloth experience.

We went to Georgia James in Valentine’s. We really enjoy to eat there. The customer service was excellent with Ivan, He was very polite and attentive. The place is very elegant and comfortable. The food was delicious, we ordered a ribeye, wagyuu steak, some special potatoes and onion soup, all the food taste on point, the drinks were really good. I ordered a drink non-alcoholic and they created one special for me. The desserts were good, not so spectacular, but they were good and fresh. The prices are expensive, but it is worth the investment if you want to eat really good! We would definitely go again. I loved that place.

THE best steak house in Houston (Sorry b&b). Service is incredible, the menu is extensive and has something for everyone. All steaks are cooked perfectly to order, sides are to die for. Make sure to get a few sides to share, all of them are incredible. Drinks are a must! The bar really crafts some fantastic drinks. Sit back, and enjoy.

Elegant on all fronts :) Dress? We say business casual to fit the vibe. Came 3/13/25 for social hour. We sat at the bar although high top tables were open as well. Lambros and Amanda took very friendly care of us. Our drinks were great as were the 1/2 dozen oysters and redfish dip. We shared the steak-frites and wedge salad. The kitchen heard ‘rare’, and we got exactly that, thin sliced for sharing. As we were leaving we met Rafael, the GM, sharing how delighted we were with our first-time experience. He was tickled and, as it early evening, offered us a tour of the entire space, downstairs and up. The outside patio - wow!! Just lovely! Highly recommend Georgia James again and again.

First time guest! Date night selection and it was great ✨ Service was immediate and frequent upon arrival to include the manager. Ultimately, Garrett was our server for the evening and he was spectacular! Personable, professional, proactive! He walked us through the menu, provided recommendations and was extremely timely with everything. The Tallow both as a drink choice (old fashioned) and the dip accompanying the sour dough bread was impressive. The steak was great as well as the brussel sprouts and potatoes as our sides. 🎙️ But HEAR ME when I say, you have to try the oysters!!!! WHEW the Cajun butter is magical!!! I will most certainly return! P.S- you can purchase the butter to go! Very excited to try some home recipes with it!! Couldn’t leave without it 😂 Management request: Please recognize Garrett for his commitment to service! He deserves it!

We celebrated our anniversary here, and the entire experience was exceptional from start to finish. Every dish we ordered was delicious and thoughtfully prepared—there truly wasn’t a single miss. We started with the GJ Gulf Oysters and crab fingers, which were incredibly fresh and flavorful. The seared foie gras was rich and beautifully balanced, and the akaushi ribeye was perfectly cooked and melt-in-your-mouth tender. As the evening went on, we realized we still had room for more and decided to try the colossal U3 prawn. While we loved the flavor, we did notice the tomalley had been removed. We love the rich flavor it adds, so we missed that element—but the prawn was still a great addition to our meal. One highlight was the off-menu dessert we ended with—absolutely incredible. We don’t remember the name, but we really hope it makes it onto the regular menu. Another thing we loved was the selection of half bottles of wine. It gave us the chance to try multiple pairings throughout the night, which made the experience feel even more personalized and fun. The service was outstanding—both our server and the service manager took the time to talk with us, offer thoughtful recommendations, and make us feel genuinely cared for. We left feeling full, happy, and already excited to come back.

Exceptional Dining Experience – From Service to Food! Georgia James exceeded all expectations! From the moment we walked in, the service was impeccable—attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming. The ambiance was upscale yet inviting, making for a perfect dining experience. Now, the food—absolutely phenomenal! Every dish was cooked to perfection, bursting with flavor, and beautifully presented. Whether it was the perfectly seared steak, the rich and flavorful sides, or the decadent dessert, everything was top-notch. If you’re looking for an unforgettable meal in Houston, Georgia James is the place to go. We can’t wait to return!

Have been wanting to try this place and it did NOT disappoint! We got there a little late without a reservation and the host was nice enough to give us a table for 6! We ordered the charcuterie board and the bone marrow which I have to say it’s one of the best I’ve had so far. The presentation and flavors of the bone marrow was top notch. We ordered a bottle of wine which our server poured into a decanter making a great presentation. Our server Ivan was super helpful with the menu and very attentive. Will definitely go back for a special occasion.

I had been wanting to come here for over a year and finally got a group together to make it happen. I made a reservation and they graciously put us in the quiet room in the back given the size of our party. We were on a mission so we Did the double baller board and it was super fun to try everything. Felt like a medieval feast fit for kings. The juicy crispy in house fried Chicken was a surprise hit. We had ribeyes and strip steaks and tomahawks galore. I wish we kept better track of which ones were the best. I really liked the Argentina steak as well. We enjoyed couple of fishes like the sea bass and the salmon. The mac and cheese with truffles was a big hit as well. We had to order more. All the sides were good The desert was also extremely tasty. Raspberry tart with sorbet and the chocolate cake were both delicious. All in all a fun experience.

Hands down one of THE best restaurants in Houston. I ordered the 8oz filet — cooked to perfection and great sear. Daughter had the chicken with dirty rice — flavorful. Wife ordered the salmon and Brussels — those Brussels were the best I’ve ever had. The Mac and cheese was to die for. Please try them for date night or a celebratory moment. A little on the pricey side but you get what you pay for, so I paid for excellence and that’s what I received.

Wonderful experience. The food presentation and taste was amazing. Fine dining with a very intimate twist. Our server was attentive and very communicative. We had the snapper, scallops, truffle mac and cheese and mushrooms. I was shocked at how great the mushrooms were. Definitely have to come back to try some of the other dishes.

Georgia James is a new restaurant at Regency Square. It's a classy, modern steak house, boasting masterclass steaks, cut at the table , cooked to perfect temperature . We shared the porterhouse steak which is my favorite cut. The peppercorns crust was wonderful , perhaps more generous with the garlic butter . The steak fries were probably some of the best I've had, thick potato cuts salted, light crip . See pictures below. Perfect for date night or a group experience. Pricing is fair and comparable to other steakhouses. Hats off to the staff for the service, they do all the work to make the place great for everyone. They deserve all the tips .

Take your classy lady to a classy, white tablecloth restaurant - especially when celebrating an event like remembering an engagement! Everything here was fantastic! Make sure you make use of the (optional) valet parking (10 dollars, they do take Apple Pay). Pics of the food and desserts are included! They even gave us one of the desserts on the house because we were celebrating.

Georgia James Steakhouse in Houston is one of those places you definitely want to go back to. A truly beautiful restaurant that honors the creations of the talented and charismatic Chef Erick Cruz, who brings together a unique mix of cultures and techniques, being of Mexican origin with French culinary training. All of this is complemented by excellent service. This time we had the pleasure of trying several dishes recommended by our knowledgeable and very kind server Ángel Say, who impressed us with both the dishes and his outstanding attention. The wine list is extensive, with a strong selection of sparkling wines to please every taste. It is also worth mentioning that the restaurant’s location adds another layer of charm, since before or after dinner it is very pleasant to stroll around the plaza and explore the other dining options in the area. For its warm atmosphere, delicious dishes, and excellent service, Georgia James is one of those places to return to on #undiacualquiera and to recommend. By the way, a great choice for a date. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

This steakhouse provided an elegant setting that beautifully complemented a truly exceptional dining experience. From the beverages to the cuisine, every aspect was impressive. The drinks were refreshingly flavorful and expertly prepared. The martini experience was outstanding, leading us to order another. The ribeye and wagyu strip were cooked to perfection and seasoned flawlessly. We greatly enjoyed both steaks. The side of smashed potatoes was full of flavor, with the accompanying sauce adding a delightful finishing touch. The truffle mac n cheese was decadently cheesy and creamy. The tableside preparation of the banana foster was a highlight of the experience, and its flavor was exquisite. Our server was exceptional, offering thorough explanations and insightful recommendations for the beverages. The atmosphere was quiet and intimate, with the restaurant's decor showcasing a sophisticated, modern style. We will be returning soon.

04/18/2025 - UPDATE - my husband and I returned to Georgia James to celebrate that he passed the bar! This time we had Maia she is new but she is fabulous! She was so personable and sweet I highly recommend her as your server she was patient and explained the specials twice for us upon request. She was knowledgeable about the food and wine. She made recommendations for dishes we wouldn’t normally try but we ended up falling in love with. A great server makes a world of difference and I can’t tell you how much I appreciate her attentive service and personality! 02/14 - My husband made a reservation for us on Valentine’s Day early in the evening and it was absolutely amazing. Our server Ivan made the entire experience so enjoyable! I would come back just for the excellent service we received but to top it off the food is excellent. The atmosphere in their private dining room is intimate and perfect for a date night. I couldn’t recommend this place more! Make sure you ask for Ivan - he is attentive and will make sure you have a great evening

Went here for a wine tasting and all the wine was so delicious. There was food accompanied with it, and the food was also amazing. The stand out for me was the crabcake along with the popcorn/bang bang shrimp. That is a must order the next time I’m there, it was so good! There was also a beef board, which was a huge tomahawk steak cut up for people to take what they want and the quality of it was amazing. The service was fantastic and everyone that I was with really enjoyed themselves. If you’re looking to do an event here this is definitely a great place.

I recently celebrated my birthday and the end of Houston Restaurant Weeks with a group of twelve friends at Georgia James Steakhouse, and it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. The restaurant’s decor strikes a perfect balance between modern sophistication and warm, inviting touches, making it feel like both a special occasion spot and a comfortable place to linger. The food was excellent. Every dish we ordered, from the starters to the entree, was prepared with care and delivered with flavorful precision. The food was perfectly cooked and beautifully presented, while the sides and appetizers held their own with bold flavors and thoughtful combinations. What truly set the evening apart was the service. Managing a large party of twelve is no small task, yet the staff made it seamless. They were attentive without being overbearing, knowledgeable about the menu and wine pairings, and genuinely warm in their approach. Our entire table felt well taken care of the entire evening. Georgia James delivered on every level—great atmosphere, memorable food, and impeccable service. It was the perfect place to celebrate, and I would not hesitate to recommend it for both special gatherings and an elevated night out in Houston.

We recently dined at Georgia James on Christmas Eve and overall had a pleasant experience. The standout was the impressive seafood tower, although I’d suggest opting for East Coast oysters entirely instead of the split between them and Gulf Coast. The long bone rib eye and Japanese A5 wagyu were exceptional, but the sides—mushrooms and potatoes—fell short of expectations. The service was a mixed bag; the supporting staff excelled, but our primary server displayed a poor attitude throughout the evening. Despite this, the overall cost for two, just under 1k, felt reasonable for the quality of food and the occasion. Georgia James proved to be a fitting choice for our Christmas Eve celebration.

Good service. Food was mostly excellent. Would take a pass on the creme brulee and the hangar steak next time. Otherwise, the food was great. Seems like a good place for groups. A lot of the dishes are sized for sharing.

Decided to have dinner here to celebrate my husband and I 9th Year Anniversary. This is a steak restaurant that is farm to table with portions that are big enough to share. This was my husband’s second time dining here and this my first. His first time dinning, him and his party ordered a board and he stated they enjoyed everything on the board. The food and wine was very good. We ordered a bottle of the Corazon Del Sol ‘Los Chacayes’ Malbec, The Slab Salad, Classic French Onion Soup, Fried Holmes Chicken, Fried Brussel Sprouts, Smashed & Fried New Potatoes. And for dessert we decided on the carrot cake. The service provided by our waiter Alec and the restaurant was wonderful.

4 stars for the ambiance and service, but the food was just heavily drenched in lots and lots of butter! If that’s your jam- this is the place for you. I don’t know if it was just that particular day, or if the food is generally like that- but they don’t have a filet mignon on the menu (hanger steak they said was the closest) and it tasted nothing like a filet! So much fat.

It's not quite the most obvious looking place but once you know, you know. Doing valet parking was much easier and recommended. Reservations is also highly recommended! We basically had a bit of everything from their menu salad, porter, seafood tower, onion soup, and the beef and chicken was on as expected, quite good. Service was amazing with good personalities to go with the food. Salad needed to be mixed a bit more for the House dressing but it all came together for the aged beef. Thanks for the experience, a bit loud inside but I'd come back.

Beautiful restaurant, the service was nice and food was good. However, not for the prices. I don’t mind spending on food but expected more flavor. Had to make reservations for a birthday dinner for 4 ppl. The restaurant wasn’t too busy for a Friday night.

We enjoyed a nice Christmas Eve dinner here and overall had a great time. The waiter was a little rude and kept suggesting certain items would be too much food for us/that we should share etc. But the overall staff really carried the service. Managers made sure we had drink refills quickly. The bussers were polite and kept the table clean and other servers did well refilling our waters. The ambiance was absolutely gorgeous. It’s a nice space with beautiful design and plenty of windows. Very romantic. The wine selection has both breadth and depth. I ordered a Napa valley Cabernet that was wonderful. My husband opted for Four Roses small batch on the rocks. We started with the seafood tower and it was spectacular! We especially loved the tuna tartar and smoked redfish dip. The east coast oysters were perfection. The gulf coast oysters were farm raised and didn’t have much flavor. Definitely opt for east coast. We then shared the slab salad. It was good the dressing was fresh. For our main course, I ordered the Japanese A5 wagyu (6oz) medium rare. There is a 4oz minimum to this. They brought it out before cooking it with a certificate of authenticity for you to keep. It was the best piece of steak I have ever had. So tender and juicy it melted like butter in my mouth. It also had a really nice crisp of seasoning on the outside. My husband ordered the long bone ribeye (which the waiter suggested we share, my husband doesn’t really share and finished the entire thing 😅) it was also a great cut, perfectly cooked and seasoned. The indulgent steak all steak lovers are looking for. We both added garlic butter, and definitely recommend it. For sides we ordered the smashed and fried new potatoes and the brown butter roasted mushrooms. The sides did not stack up to the rest of the meal and we barely touched them. The potatoes didn’t seem smashed at all and were over fried. The mushrooms were tender but were overpowered with the taste of soy sauce. We looked over the dessert menu and nothing called to us so we opted out but the waiter did bring us the pineapple vacherin. It was really tasty so I am glad he brought it. Overall we had a really great time. Every course was perfectly timed from drinks to the main courses. Would have loved to give 5 stars to this Houston institution but maybe next time we will try some different sides and have a different waiter. Lastly, they do add a 3% credit card fee if you pay with a card.

The flavor of the food was really good, unfortunately not all of it arrived hot. We were seated a long way from the kitchen but based on the plate temperatures it seemed like they don't use plate warmers. Too good of a place not to try again though. Also, superior cocktails, very inventive and well balanced.

I had very high expectations for Georgia James not disappointed but not exactly the level I had in mind. The service was great and I must say those baked oysters are amazing! 10 stars for that alone and their bread is awesome. The steak in my opinion was good but not as good as I had anticipated flavorwise Recommend the charred corn and mshrooms from the appetizers the bake potatoes was a disappointment. Finally the dessert both desserts we tried the carrot cake and the peacan pie were on point A great place but not on my top five steak houses

Restaurant Week/Month is in effect until September 2nd, so we came to try a new steakhouse. It was well worth the trip. The special for the month includes: 1 appetizer, 1 main dish, and 1 dessert for $55 off the special menu, picture added. Our pregame upstairs: The Happy Hour will be one for those who enjoy oysters. $1 is hard to beat and had a great selection. Take note that this is only offered upstairs on the 2nd floor bar. Happy Hour menu picture also added. The King crab hush puppies is another notable item that would be highly suggested to try off the happy hour menu. Reservations on the 1st floor- The appetizers we enjoyed were the lobster chowder and popcorn shrimp. Just be aware the shrimp has a kick if you enjoy spice. While it being a steakhouse we had to try a few cuts. The New York strip was a huge miss! Don’t order it! (Chewy, bad cut, fat, spit out more than we were able to eat of the 6ozs) While the Fillet! Was on point. This was the star of the show. With those potato’s and flavors. It was just perfection. Desert: Easy! Carrot Cake! Carrot Cake! Carrot Cake! lol need it one more time? Can’t wait to go back and try the ribeye on our next visit. Until next time.

Such a nice, quiet and intimate space. I have no complaints on the customer service. But I will say, I’m not usually a big fan of shrimp cocktail, however, the flavor and size of shrimp was very delightful. I indulged in some oysters as well and the presentationnnnnn was super cute and the viet-cajun butter *chefs kiss* made them even more tasty and palatable than expected. I definitely recommend for date night, girls night or a intimate cocktail night with some friends or colleagues🥂

Came for Houston restaurant weeks - the food was great the shrimp cakes and the steak were amazing and the dessert was soo good. Would’ve rated a 5 but the service was so rough. We did the wine pairing and our server brought out all of the wines without saying what they were at all, and when we asked it was clear he really didn’t know and wasn’t going to find out for us which was disappointing. The energy from our server was very weird all night like we were annoying him and it brought the experience down.

Company Christmas Party. Food, staff and atmosphere great. Valet, not good. My car was covered in what look like white mud. It splash on the hood and side windows. It was on the floor on the driver side. he drove my car somewhere or he drove it through this white stuff at a high parking lot speed because the splash was so high, even on the trunk. Per the manager, it is an outside contractor. don't use the valet cause the restaurant is not responsible, ask for the company name

Credit goes to the bar area! Excellent staff and great mixologists working back there! We went for an office party! The upstairs was all reserved for us! Very pretty and elegant! The food options were good, salad and tomato soup were excellent. Desserts were not great!

This is my first culinary experience from Chris Shepherd, a James Beard award winning chef. What captivated me to visit Georgia James is the 100-day dry-aged (100 dda) steak. With all the accolades and culinary myrmidons, the 100 dda steak was a huge letdown. It appears the supporting actors i.e., roasted mushrooms, crispy Brussels sprouts, tuna tartare and roasted banana pie were the shinning stars of the show. For the price points, I expect more from the main actor. Is a fascinating eye-opener to see the dry-aged room as you walked thru the front door. This is followed by an eclectic selection of wines on display along the hallway. However, the main dining room is unimpressive - the decor is monotonous, dated and cheap looking. The dim lighting reminds me of Mastro's and steak48 - to keep it romantic. But why keeps the music so loud if that was the objective? I think I finally figure out why? Take a look at the photo of the ribeye in daylight. The amount of fat is totally flabberghasted! Now my perfectly chiseled lower body is ruined. A special shout-out to our server, Thomas, who is attentive but not intrusive. He's like a stealth helicopter, hovering around unnoticed until needed. He appealed to my adventurous side to try the sipping vinegar(see photo) with my ribeye. It does add a bit of sweetness to the otherwise bland steak. I have to give 5 stars for creativeness. The liquidated oil is actually brisket trimming. A creative and ingenious use to kill two birds with one stone - as a dipping for your bread and a momentary candlelight. Our receipt was enclosed in a wax sealed envelope. Is cute, but not practical. The jury is still out on this restaurant.

I dined here to celebrate a friends birthday on 2/10. We ordered the baller board, wine, and desserts. The service and food was very satisfactory. The only reason I’m docking an extra star is because I recently received an $85 parking ticket in the mail from the attached garage that used to be free and now no longer is, and does not have visible signage to notify customers. Hopefully the staff does a better job at notifying patrons of this change and/or offering to validate

Service is excellent. My favorite is the salad. The bread with the dipping sauce was good. Compound Butter on my steak never melted, not quite sure how to eat a big piece of fat. Not a fan of the charred octopus salad or the snow crab salad. In my opinion the snow crab salad needs an accompaniment such as crusty thin crouton or flat bread. Grilled oysters were very tasty.

My recent visit to Georgia James Steak in Houston left much to be desired. While the oyster appetizer provided a promising start, the main course fell short of expectations. Opting for the Texas Strip, cooked to a medium doneness, I was met with disappointment as the steak arrived overly dry and lacking in flavor. Despite the establishment's reputation for exceptional cuts, this experience left me reluctant to return. The inconsistency in the quality of the main course overshadowed the positive aspects of the meal, leading to a regrettable dining experience.

The ambience was nice and quiet. Service was good. The viet oysters were good! So were the brussel sprouts and potatoes! Steak was just okay. Pork was overcooked. Whole dinner was not worth it for $700. Probably won’t come back again.

We've been to Georgia James on a few occasions. Sometimes for a prix fixe menu, sometimes for the regular menu. But almost always for a special occasion. We went last night for New Year's Eve, our second time for this holiday. The music was great. The manager was always visible and working hard to ensure everyone was having a good experience. The hostesses were constantly around handing out hats, beads, etc. They were excellent. The wait staff was definitely busy, but one would have hoped for a more personalized experience from them. For the first time since we started coming here, the food was a real let down, especially for the price. We started with the bone marrow appetizer. At $36, we were initially very excited to see the size of the bone they set down in front of us. But we were VERY disappointed in the actual amount of marrow we got out of it. The serving spoons were quite small and we only managed to get 3 spoonfuls from the entire bone. We brought this up to the waitress who pretty much shrugged it off as you get what you get. We had plenty of other food coming so we just moved on. We both ordered off the nightly specials menu. I had the surf and turf and my wife had the filet. I ordered mine medium rare while my wife prefers medium. Unfortunately, the waitress mixed those up bringing mine out as medium and hers as medium rare. My wife sent hers back and within minutes, a food runner comes by to drop off our entire order again. This leads me to two things, 1) the waitress just repunched the entire order and 2) the nightly specials were all prepped in mass. The second of these two things isn't necessarily bad, they prepared to move a ton of volume in one night, but it really lead to a lower quality food. My lobster was perfectly fine but I could not taste the meat under the mass of peppercorn they loaded on top of my steak. Overall, this was a really disappointing evening. Hopefully it is not foreshadowing of the year to come.

I remember going back when they were on westheimer in the Montrose area and the ambience and quality was much better back then. New location has no charm and is valet only if you don’t find a lot in the immediate lot. The parking garage is a no-go zone from what I hear unless you want a parking ticket. Disappointing selection of steaks; no leaner cuts other than filet which was only 8 oz. Better to go to Steak 48.

Selective steak house . Nice and cozy place and not a very high end steak house. Prices are way up and not consistent with the decor and food quality and quantity. I ordered 16oz fillet and I got 3/4 inch thick fillet and not even close to med well it’s was beyond well well done almost charred. Ambiance lighting was real bad . They use LED with high k number so the pictures can’t come good . Very few choices and no mix or match the the steaks . Everything is outrageously expensive. I would rather go to Capital Grill or Steak 48 if I have to spend this kind of money. For 2 people my bill was around $300.00 . Place is clean and bathroom are also clean service was good but taste of food is not what I was looking other than their hot bread with natural beef fat. Burger was lousy and starters were no so good for a choice .

Do not recommend! Highly disappointing visit. We had reservations and still had to wait 20min for a table which they stuck us in the far back room. Once seated had to wait another 15min to be greeted by the server. Once we placed our order, the food flew out fast. Just tasted like mass catering food. Very underwhelming, not the same quality anymore since my last visit in November. Mastros and Steak48 better.

This was our first and last time at this restaurant unfortunately. We came for the Valentine’s Day dinner special that was sent to my email twice dating February 13-16. This was the entire reason we came. Our server was great, but we were extremely disappointed to hear when we went to order that they made a mistake with the dates on the menu and the special menu didn’t start until the following night. All we were told was that he spoke to the manager about it, but we were not compensated in any way. For a mistake like this at this nice and expensive of a restaurant, we expected better. The food was good but nothing amazing, and for the price, it was underwhelming. The best thing about the whole experience and essentially what kept us there was the guy singing and playing the piano, he was incredible. Disappointed to say the least

Vast changes since this review 10 mos ago. It's gone downhill. The wait staff seemed all new and as unavailable as they were unhelpful. The dishes were not as good. The Cesar salad seems to be out of a bag now, all old lettuce chopped up, gross dressing and box croutons. It won't be here long like this. Last review: Great food and service. Great selection of wines. They might add some creativity to their cocktail menu. Alex and Jonathan are great waiters. It was so nice to have a long meal without any rush at all. Return 11/25/23 good as usual except for surprise undisclosed charge of 3% for credit card. They said the charges were accommodating new credit card charges. Odd. Credit card fees to restaurants haven't changed in decades.

TL;DR: Staff and building-Great! Food- Alright to Ugh. This was the first time my fiancee and I decided to go to a high-end restaurant for Valentine's Day and also our first visit here. We saved up to come here and were excited to go but unfortunately, we will not be returning. We ordered off the Valentine’s Day Menu. The collective dishes we had were the Lobster Bisque and Foie Gras Terrine for App. We both tried to have the White and green Beef Wellington and then we both switched to the Chilean Seabass for the mains. Ended with Pistachio & Chocolate Mousse and the Frozen Nougat. The Good: The restaurant space was quite beautiful! the lighting was perfect and the live piano player was excellent. The ambience was great. The perfect feel for a date night. Our server(Berennice? (On receipt)) was nice, accommodating and made us feel welcomed. She was also knowledgeable and never made us felt like we were just another customer passing through. Staff was very quick to address our complaints about our wellingtons and our new mains arrived on the fly. They comp’d my fiancee’s martini(which was an ok resolution but i don’t feel like it was enough). The Mid: Our table was a little wobbly but we never said anything because it didn’t bother us that much. I'm sure they would have fixed that if we told the staff but we didn’t noticed till later on. Also the meal as a whole was pretty good overall but not fantastic. The Bad: Both of our beef wellingtons were raw and cold in the middle which was such a letdown because that was the dish we were the most exited to try and actually wanted. We both never had one before and our first experience was so disappointing and fearing getting a new wellington would have the same result, we settled for the Chilean Seabass which was fine. Overall thoughts: My fiancee and I are just some regular people with regular jobs trying to have a really nice date to celebrate Valentine’s Day. The restaurant staff did try to rectify the situation but first impressions are everything and I felt that I should have been compensated more then just a drink. And perhaps their B&B is their normal menu but all items should have the same level of quality regardless. Also maybe this feels like a harsh critique but if you’re asking for a high cost for the food then I would hope it would get to the table with a higher quality standard. I don’t know the etiquette of what I can do as a customer to get a more satisfactory outcome because this was the first time I ever had to send food back to the kitchen but I didn’t wanna fight too hard due to my fiancee and I just trying to have a good Valentine’s Day. Thank you for reading.

Steak (14 OZ AKAUSHI RIBEYE) was overcooked and under seasoned. The appetizer (himachi) tasted like a fishy pea soup. Those two things alone were ~$130…. The service was terrible and the atmosphere is slightly better than a holiday inn express bar. I’ve been to GJ when it was at the old location and really enjoyed it. This is not nearly the same… I will not be coming back.

Wife and I love to try new restaurants. So we tried this one. Our experience. They sat us in back room by ourselves then we waited 15mins before someone asked us have we been helped. Drinks were good bread was excellent. Steak was cooked with great flavor and loved the crust the way they cooked it but the actual grade of beef was below average. Wife had lobster and chicken was dry. So we never send back but had too. Unfortunately our waiter had tables on the other side of restaurant so the service was not consistent with the price point at all. My recommendation go to Eddie Vs because this not it for the money.

Unseen at this restaurant We had a hot shrimp app. There were several apologies about how long it took to arrive to the table. But we didn’t notice or care. It was delicious. Immediately finishing the shrimp our main dishes arrived. My steak was cold. So cold the garlic butter didn’t begin to melt. (I have pictures.) I mentioned it and they heated it for me. Sort of. Sides were okay. Their steakhouse helper was good. Au gratin potatoes good. And grilled corn was also good. But all sides were cold. It was weird. We’ve never had an experience like this. (We were charged for one item that we didn’t receive but when the bill arrived, at that point, we didn’t care. We were already thoroughly insulted by the service. Or lack of. Drinks were amazing. Service. It’s the most bizarre thing we’ve ever experienced at any business. We aren’t important people. I’m an attorney (pros sex offenders of minors) and hubby is an ED physician. To be properly served, apparently you have to be a famous artist or football player. Or let them know you’re important. Bc we were ignored bc those were 2 neighboring tables. Twice, I asked the server for small things. Both times, the important people interrupted and the server gave attention to them, instead and immediately their requests were met. While our requests were delayed. We weren’t as important. As I was leaving, I returned a blanket the hostess let me use bc it was chilly in the restaurant and the table next to us asked for it. They told us they also had to return cold food. They weren’t famous or important either. It was weird. We’ve never experienced or witnessed anything like it. We are very unassuming and low key. Don’t be like us to get good service here. Announce that you are important. Dimitri and Jesus were BEYOND kind. And great service. Go to Steak48, Vic and Anthony’s, Brennen’s ….GJ should be embarrassed.

Service was weak and the restaurant was empty. We were charged for refills on soft drinks which were served in small glasses. Cuts of wagyu were very fatty and did not eat half of it, $83 for a bad cut of meat. Steaks were ok, covered in pepper and cuts were good. There are so many better steak houses, better service and frankly grossly overcharging for what is mediocre quality and service. Mac and cheese was off and upset one kids' stomach later but other sides were good. Overall a disappointing experience and a $500 bill with no alcohol.

I went to Georgia James to celebrate my birthday with my family. We had high hopes for an evening filled with great food, great service and great company, I got 1 out of 3….great company! I was highly disappointed in the food and the staff, we have been to many high end steak houses and this did not come even close! I should have stuck with Steak 48, which NEVER disappoints! Save your time, money and expectations, do not go to Georgia James!!!
