Hands down some of the most delicious, flavorful BBQ I’ve ever had. The meat was perfectly juicy and tender with incredible portions that leave you more than satisfied. The mac and cheese was rich and savory, while the coleslaw was fresh and crisp, perfect sides to balance the meal! On top of that, their happy hour (4–7) is unbeatable with cold beers and frozen slushie margaritas. A truly unique BBQ spot that hits every mark, food, flavor, and vibe. Highly recommend!

We were visiting from out of town. The food was great! Loved the Dirty Rice. Service was lacking however. The cashier seemed very uninterested in being at work. Not very welcoming at all. So much, we didn’t want to even go ask for an extra fork. Other than this, the food was good. Overall, when I am in Houston again, I would try them again.

We came because of the great reviews and eater review. It was great and a good value for what you get for the sandwiches. The rib tips and some of the sides I would pass on, but we liked the brisket and the sausage. The fried catfish was okay as was the shrimp. Nothing special on that. It took me about 15 min to get my food after ordering which isn’t the end of the world!

Im giving 3 stars because Im not here to try and hurt the business. Ive worked in the food industry +20 years. The food was certainly tasty enough to eat again, HOWEVER the way I got screwed on my order IS NOT. I got a 4 meat plate and a pound of brisket. What I got was a 4 meat plate and 3/4 lb of fat cap and 1/4 of brisket. Pretty frustrating when you pay $30 for a lb of meat, and they pull something like this. I ordered loose cut....never seen 5 solid inches of fat on a slice of brisket, and I managed Catering for a local BBQ joint for 5 years. It was an order off Door Dash, so maybe they thought they were being slick. I would eat this BBQ again, but only Dine-In where they could never get away with such a scam! The brisket on the 4 meat plate was better, and it tasted nice. The ribs were meaty and tender. The chicken was moist and delicious, and the Jalapeño sausage was great!

This black owned establishment is a great place for bar b q. When I tell you this food has been consistent for over 25 years, it never misses. The service can be better however I've only came here during MLK day for the past 5 years which is a busy day. I feel the service is not so friendly I am big on customer service and being nice. Staff was not knowledgeable in the mlk discount. This is something they offer every year however cashiers had no idea or even told the customers about it. Like it was a secret or something. In previous years it was posted on the door. Let's do a little better with overall service here and it starts with the cashiers. Again the food is a 10 this review is regarding service.

First, the order was wrong!!!! Second, I paid $20 dollars for the smallest amount of food smh… especially for rib tips. The rib tips were tasty though. I’m from the Midwest where all of our bbq restaurants serve rib tips regularly and they did meet my expectations on that. This is my first visit, but I’m not sure if I’m willing to pay such a high price for rib tips. Just as a price reference, Chicago’s cost of living is waaaay higher than Houston and for a large rib tip dinner fries included is about 12 bucks!!! With loads of tips…

This place was really hit or miss. Ordered ribs and brisket... it was served cold and they were skimpy on onions/pickles. The toast was dry and the mac and cheese was one of the worst seasoned sides I ever had. The cucumber salad, potato salad and beans were good but not worth coming back here.

I don’t really get the brisket but I think this is MOLD and if i’m wrong please correct me. I’m a pregnant customer this could’ve gotten me sick the smaller cuts don’t have that on it. Other than that the sausage mac and dirty rice was good

This was NOT worth an almost 25 min wait after I placed my order. This was on level of chain restaurants food. The food was not flavor full. I order 3 meats moist brisket, beef sausage, pork ribs with boudin, potatoe salad, cucumber salad. The only thing that was hot was boudin. This was my first and last time. The lady who took my order was a true delight and very accommodating. (She was vertically challenged) she walked me through the menu to get the best. The other ladies had negative attitudes and while I was picking up my food she made a sarcastic comment about the food being my food but she called 2 names out at the same time. Thanks but NO THANKS.

I have eaten at Ray's for a long time, but consistency seems to be a problem. I found myself going to Bud's BBQ/Meat Market because of the difference. On the 23rd of February 2026 I ordered a Chopped Beef sandwich 🥪/ $13.95, a Ribtip sandwich/ $13.95 and a Rib sandwich/ 14.95 totaling $40.38. I received 4 very small pieces with one (1) slightly burned for $13.95, but the Rib sandwich had 4 pieces of Ribtips for $14.95. I know we are going through inflation, but how could you do someone that way. There was a time when you had compassion on your customers and at least give a fair portion compared to what it cost. I enjoy the taste but I feel cheaper, but we are being RIPPED OFF. I do thank Bud's BBQ for giving a Rib sandwich, and a Rib Tip sandwich with Fair Potions. RAY START TREATING YOUR CUSTOMERS LIKE YOU DID WHEN YOU WERE IN THE OTHER LOCATIONS. $40.3O IS A LOT OF MONEY TO PAY FOR SUCH A RIDICULOUS THAT COMPARES TO WHAT I RECEIVED.

Sorry but due to the 3 hour round trip, I had to comment. Bought a slab of ribs and they are just terrible. Over cooked, mushy throughout and burned. I threw away more fat than bones. 3 times I’ve been there and the last 2 have been worse than the latter.

Pre-ordered and picked up brisket, sausage, ribs at 11ish on Aug 30th. First the positives - ribs were slamming. The smoke the seasoning all really good. While all of the meats were lightly seasoned you will need to use sauce, but it was fine for me as I like light seasoning - Now the room for improvement - can you make brisket in Texas without a smoke ring and call it BBQ brisket - well apparently yes. Not one brisket slice had a smoke ring of any measure - zero - only sauce can redeem this really bland almost oven roast type meat. The sausage skin had no bite, just soft. It tasted fine but no snap. Poor first time experience here.
