Eaten here with my son and grandchildren before and had delivery. Never disappointing always hot and fresh
Food was good and the service was very friendly. Would definitely come back!
Highly impressed with the quality of customer service and food. Highly recommend to try out this spot. Tip: CC/DC accepted but cash preferred to avoid fees.
The pork steamed dumplings are amazing. Got the general tso's chicken, and was blown away. 10/10 would get again.
This place has fantastic Orange Chicken! They also deliver with $15 minimum..Lots of food and have never been disappointed.
This place has never let me down. I've tried all of the Chinese food restaurants in my area. It's clean and good!
Love this place! Calm, caring staff, excellent food, great place to quietly relax and eat!
Food was really tasty. All I had was the shrimp fried rice but I was happy.
Great place to eat. Food is affordable and very delicious. Portions are big and the staff are very friendly
I seldom eat Chinese anywhere else. I find myself craving the chicken lettuce wraps and Singapore noodles. A favorite spot for the wife and I to meet after work.
Haven't tried food yet, but just received amazing service.
Fresh, tasty, and great customer service. Lunch menu is reasonably priced and no long wait.
Love going here the owner is super friendly and the food is great.. Love the beef lomien and much more can't go wrong
I like going there because the food taste fresh and you feel like in place there is a small majority of people who speak in a level 1 voice and the service 👌👌👌
Family owned Chinese restaurant. Very good food- fried rice the best! Lunch specials are great price and large portions.
Food was great! Service great! Nice atmosphere! If you're reading this thinking about going, definitely get your things and go!!!
I discovered this place about 2 months ago and I come here at least once a week it's excellent. I have enjoyed everything I have ordered and the owners are just incredibly gracious.
Absolutely my favorite Chinese restaurant in America. The owners are so friendly, the food is incredible, and we have been going here for years.
Luch specials are a good deal for the good portion of food and price. It was reay good. Relaxing music. Not crowded. Recommend it for lunch or at anytime. Fast service.
Eat Here Often, Ive Had The Fried Rice, Orange Chicken, Egg Foo Young, & Many Other Plates, One Of My Favorite Is The Fried Dumplings, Like Everything Else They’re Homemade And Taste Amazing! Mom & Pop Shop That Makes Your Order FRESH Right After You Order, If I Want Dinner After Work, Shanghai Is The Place! Very Quiet & Cosy Restaurant With Exceptional Service! 5/5 Stars! Shi Bussin
We ordered Beef Vegetable, Crab Rangoon, Hunan Beef, Vegetable Rolls and steamed rice. First time ordering from this restaurant and it was best choice since we have been here in Texas. Excellence at its best!
Very good Chinese food. It's standard fare with quick delivery and reasonable prices. We will definitely order from here again. I'm looking forward to dining in.
Family owned and operated. Excellent service. Several unique and delicious dishes. Jalapeño chicken, pan fried pork dumplings, Grand Marine Prawn are exceptional. Excellent
I have had countless Chinese restaurants in Houston and I haven't had any as good as this one, not to mention how great the prices are. It's family owned and run and the main lady who waits on us is the nicest person you will ever meet.
I love this place. The owners work there, very hard working people, one cooks the other administers and serves. They are super friendly, the food is excellent and so is the service.
Like the owner/receptionist, he is very quiet and friendly, the food is ok. Too much beef for my Mongolian beef dish. I was there at 11:25 am.
Super clean, delicious food and great prices. Lunch and dinner combo specials are available.
The meal was excellent and a great price!! The egg roll wasn't great but I don't care much about that. Bathrooms were crazy clean and staff was sweet.
I eat here at least once a week! The food is awesome and made to order! ( sesame & Sweet n Sour chicken ) are my favs!
I ordered my food to-go. Staff was very friendly and the food was delicious. I would definitely recommend
Hidden gem and tasty food. The food is fresh. And super cheap! The waitress was very nice, loved her! I highly recommend.
I come to housten for work every 7 months. And I will always come to this place. Service is great. They are all very good people. I always get the cheese Rangoon and general tsos chicken!!
Absolute gem. Great food and service. Never disappoints.
Excellent food! Wonderful flavor!
Great food for a great value. Stumbled across this place because it was the only thing open later. Ordered the sesame chicken and my boyfriend got the general tso, both were amazing. Establishment was clean and staff was friendly. Will be back!
Wow, I just ate here for lunch. I ordered General Tso’s chicken with wonton soup. The wonton was nice. The flavors were great!! I was so impressed. The sauce was very good! Like it was entirely homemade. I was very impressed with the sauces.
I love ordering from Shanghai! The orange chicken is delicious. I’ve also had the Singapore noodles, General Tso chicken, combination lo mein, and more! It’s all good! The owners are very nice and she sometimes throws in some donuts in my delivery order for my kids. Great customer service and great food!
Shanghai does solid chinese comfort food at a reasonable price. We've ordered take out from here for several years and have been happy with the consistent quality. Best dishes are orange chicken, shrimp with vegetables, and beef chow fun, in my opinion.
Very good Chinese takeaway and restaurant.Highly recommend the orange chicken. Review from someone holidaying in Houston from United Kingdom
Great food with awesome services. We eat there sometimes two or three times a week. Very glad to have found this gem so close to work.
I have been in Houston for 14 months and cannot believe it has taken me so long to find this hidden gem: Shanghai. So glad to now call this my favorite go-to Chinese restaurant. Their lunch specials are a bargain for the amount of food provided which includes entre, choice of rice, choice of soup, and eggroll or crab rangoon for $6.85 to $7.95. Food was fresh and made to order. I special ordered a vegetarian dish with specific vegetables and sauce. It was prepared perfectly. Excellent texture, flavor, and temperature. The service was attentive, jovial, and prompt. There is no question that I will return. They are a small business run by a small crew of happy people.
Very tasty Chinese food for eat in or take out. Staff are very accommodating and the food is well cooked and good value. I wish I knew where they get their oranges that they serve at the end of the meal. They taste freshly picked and sweet...yum.
Ordered chicken fried rice to go and was ready in 15 min for pick up. Lots of chicken and filled to the top of the white container. Will order again!
Good price for lunch special, the shrimp kung pao is really good. Also tried a cashew chicken before and liked it too
Wow! That’s all I can say... from the atmosphere to the service to the food. This place is wow. Even the gun place across the way has awesome customer service. I have been missing out this whole time on Chinese food. My new Chinese spot.. the egg rolls are amazing and I have never tasted an egg roll so light, Golden with the perfect amount of crisp. It’s so light battered but nice crisp to it and perfect size not overfilled. The orange chicken was perfect &&& the real orange chicken!!!! P.s my boyfriend is a picky eater especially with fast food && he loved this place &&& says it’s his new Chinese spot. I highly recommend!
I have been here many times. First introduced to them lot months ago by the gun shop across the parking. The service is always fast and the food is always good. Their sesame chicken reminds me of my favorite place (that shut down). Just had shrimp fried rice today. Nothing fancy but the portions are large and a great value. Will continue to eat there.
I took a 40 minute trip in order to get this food and was not disappointed! I called my order in and by the time I got there it was hot and ready. I got the beef broccoli and general Tso, I got a chance to take a picture of the beef broccoli but the general Tso was almost gone by the time I thought of taking a picture😂 if you LOVE spice I’d recommend getting the most hot for general Tso since the medium hot is just a bit sweet and spicy, you feel the spiciness right after. I also got the egg drop soup…I missed having a good good egg drop soup! The lady was so nice and funny I highly recommend this place.
How can anyone go wrong going to a restaurant when the owners cook the food and serve it to you. It's a personalized service which many restaurants cannot match. A true Mom and Pop business. The quality of food is great and servings very generous. With the soup comes the crackers with a pleasant tasting sweet sauce. The ambiance is good and the music in the background is very relaxing. If you are looking for a laid back and relaxing meal give this place a try, I am pretty sure you will be pleasantly surprised. Whenever I am in the area I make sure I choose this place over others.
I live a block away & never noticed this place b4 since it's hidden from i10. Found it on maps as I wanted Chinese but didn't want to drive to westheimer. There was no one there as it was NYE. The lady at the counter was very nice. I ordered the G Tso's Chicken w/ upgrade of shrimp fried rice & sm egg Drop Soup & requested green onions. I love that they include fried wontons w/ soup! The chicken was good & the sauce had a unique homemade flavor. Rice was moist and flavorful. I was very pleased with the egg Drop Soup. Some places have that nasty thick goupy canned stuff but here it's very delicious as if made in house! Fair priced & good portions. I will definitely be back & try a beef entree next. It's a small place but they have several tables & booths. I'd recommend giving it a try if you are hungry for Chinese. One of the few spots in this area. 👌
Wish I knew this was here a long time ago. This is an awesome place to get Chinese food. First off... Great prices! Like pre COVID prices compared to anyone else. They have a large menu, excellent lunch specials, clean place, and great service. The wife and I loved it. If you live or work nearby, stop in. Give them a try. Easy parking, clean bathrooms, fast service.
First time here and the food is hot, fresh and delicious. Definitely recommend.
WOW!! Great food. This is probably THE CLEANEST restaurant I have been in. The food was fabulous!!

WOW!! Great food. This is probably THE CLEANEST restaurant I have been in. The food was fabulous!!
My boyfriend and I chose this restaurant simply because they have egg foo young and it’s so hard to find at other places. We were pleasantly surprised with the freshness of the food and the taste of everything. We had the cream cheese ragoons, shrimp egg foo young, and the sesame chicken lunch portion. We will definitely be back!
Great restaurant!!! They have a gun range and coin shop in the same complex.
Good food, and the service and atmosphere was great! The lady at the front counter was very friendly and we shared a good laugh together! I would absolutely recommend!
I have been coming here for a few years now, started as a place a friend showed me and turned to my favorite spot for fried rice. I always get pan fried dumplings and combination fried rice when i come. The fried rice flavor is great. It’s different from other places. It’s always cooked the same and the flavor is the same every time i come. Dumplings are always good aswell. Very filling. The are big dumplings! Never caught her name, but the Lady inside is always very nice and attentive. She has remembered what I ordered every time i visit! Which feels very thoughtful! Last thing is price. I spend ~9$ before tip for a huge plate. Definitely a good value. 10/10
The food was amazing! Everything was fresh and absolutely delicious. My husband and I had cheese rangoons, egg drop soup and Singapore Mei fun. The lady at the front was so nice and had a great personality. The restaurant was super clean as well. We will definitely be back!
The showroom is open again. This is a sweet family that runs the restaurant. I always enjoy the food. It is always fresh, nothing tastes like it's been thawed or sitting all day waiting on an order. I think the price point is about right too. The shrimp with lobster sauce is great, sweet and sour shrimp and shrimp fried rice are all great.
I usually order take-out or delivery and either way it’s fast. The food is very fresh and is a generous portion. The chicken used for the orange chicken is white meat only there's not fatty stuff. It really tastes like home cooking. I was pleasantly surprised!

Can be a little slow sometimes but the food is great and the people are very friendly. I'd definitely recommend this restaurant.
Forgot to take pictures but the food is really good. Definitely recommend if you’re around Houston .
Excellent Asian cuisine. Done in freshness. Take out is good, but not as good as done in experience
Good food 🍲 I little pricey for Chinese food but convenient. Try the sesame chicken but tell them not to overcooked it.
Very cute and cozy place. Food was tasty and the service was great. We had a lunch special and Mongolian chicken and biscuits , everything was fresh and hot and the owner was very nice ! I will return with my husband and daughter again.
Ordered take-out, this was my first time to eat here. It was a Sunday evening and my go-to place was closed. The food was good but, but the pick-up experience was not. I was told on the phone it would be ready in 20 minutes. I went to pick up the delivery and had to wait for half an hour - instead of 20 minutes it was 57 minutes. When I got there they asked me to pay for the order and I assumed they would bring it right out, but they hand't even started cooking it. If I had been told first it was going to take another 30 minutes I would have cancelled the order and gone someplace else, but they already had my money so had to wait. There were 2 take-out orders in front of me and I think they were all handled them the same way - wait until the customer comes in and pays, then start cooking the food. Lesson learned - I will ask for delivery next time.
Ordered the Shanghai won ton soup to go and it was just basically tasteless. Maybe I had them on a bad night.
It was good but we did not get our egg rolls and order extra peppers and did not get extra peppers.
Communication barrier but food is good if you order it's better in person. If go with friends there is going to be a Awkward of silence. Just think your at peace when eating but know someone is letting energy out at the shooting range
Our meal was okay. We ordered eggdrop soup, wonton soup, chicken lettuce wraps and chicken with cashews. First, the delivery was almost 1 hour! Chinese delivery never takes that long. Second, the wonton soup showed up as hot and sour soup. The guy who took our order over the phone repeated the order saying “hot and sour soup”. Even though I corrected him, it was still wrong. I’m not a fan of hot and sour soup, so that was disappointing to receive the wrong item. Third, they use a ton of onions in their dishes. That usually indicates filler and you get less meat. I’m not a fan of onions, so that was another disappointment. The eggdrop soup was good and the eggrolls were decent. First and last time we will order from here. What a shame.
This was my first time getting food from here. The guy at the counter greeted me and then handed me my bag. I asked was there dipping sauce for my crab rangoons (not packaged duck sauce) inside and he told me yes. I was pulling off and something told me to look in my bag. I had no dipping sauce NOR did I have any cutlery. I ordered to-go for a reason. I would like to be able to eat my food on the go. Anyways, when I turn around and go back inside for a second time to get a fork and dipping sauce, the guy walked up to the counter like,” what, what do you need now”. That was VERY rude. He huffed and puffed the entire time. The general tso chicken was good. The rice didn’t taste fresh. Tasted refrigerated.

Staff was nice and food was ready fast. Unfortunately the food wasn’t that good. Eggs in egg drop were green.
Won Ton soup tasted like dishwater and was dark brown just like the chicken chop suey (chop suey is supposed to have a white sauce and taste fresh). The egg rolls small and forgettable. Delivery was pretty fast and general tso chicken was delicious!! I may try once more to see if it was just an "off day" in the kitchen...but not the soup.
Delivery service was fast and friendly. Online ordering was quick and easy, no registration required which is a big plus. The food was not very good. I got the sweet and sour chicken. Some of the pieces of chicken we're burnt to a crisp as if they were stuck to a pan. The fried rice was also overcooked and dry. The portions were smaller than most places but they are less expensive than others.
Stopped by here around 6 p.m. to pick up some dinner because I was craving Chinese food and saw online at this restaurant had pretty good reviews. You wouldn't be able to find this place unless you follow Google Maps or you've been here before it's located in a shopping center right across for a gun shop. A small restaurant, but looks clean. When I entered it there was no one there I ordered Mongolian beef which is around $12 and chicken with broccoli which I believe is around $10 not bad ((PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT THEY CHARGE A FEE IF YOU USE YOUR CREDIT/DEBIT CARD. PLEASE BRING CASH IF POSSIBLE)) It didn't take long for the food to come out the lady at the cashier was very nice however the taste of the food was not it!! Tasted very greasy/oily, absolutely no flavor. Wasn't good at all in fact my son and I threw the food out. Very disappointing 😞

Called in order. Lady rude. She didn’t listen to my order. She did not give me my extra sweet and sour sauce. My chicken was soggy. My rice was cold and egg roll looked like it was sitting for a long time. The ends were gross. I called in at 8:30 and they do not close until 9.

I was reading all the good reviews about this place and decided I wanted to order, but I needed delivery. I called and I was told no delivery today. TODAY? Does that mean they deliver only certain days or whenever they want? 😡
Worst dining experience ever. So mad I spent my money on garbage. I took two bites and they wouldnt give me my money back. do not eat here
I wouldn’t give any stars at all if that was an option but it wasn’t so I gave 1. This was by far the worst Chinese food ever. I only ate a few bites of my meal and I was sick to my stomach. I’ve never written a review before because if I don’t like it I just won’t go back but this place was terrible.
I tried the mangolian beef which I have ordered before . The meat smelled and tasted expired. I called back to let them know and they said then don’t ever order from here again.
Food is really bad, they messed up my order make me wait, one of the waiters was lost with peoples food going around and leaving the food in any table this place suck and the chef is bad no flavor, I lost 50$
The food was overcooked and bland. The sweet and sour sauce tasted like water. Egg rolls were good.
The lo mien and fried rice tasted like it was old and stale. The noodles were all stuck together, this is the worst place I have had. I chose the "extra hot" option for my food and It wasn't even a little hot!
I asked my daughter if she liked it and she said never again. Why can’t we find good Chinese food in Houston. The chicken tasted old. The noodles were cold. Never again
The restaurant is clean but the wonton soup was cold and sour and Water downed, food was reheated.
DO Not eat eat here, Food was disgusting, while eating I found a roach on my rice, took my food back to get my refund, they were super rude. Refused to give me my money back and told me to re sale it ifdidn’t like it. Since we did not want the food back he threw it in the trash in front of our face and pushed us out of the restaurant giving us no refund!
Ordered lunch today for coworker and myself. We both got beef and broc and it was the worst choice we both ever made. The beef taste like its been months old, eggroll was disgusting and stale. Overall the meal was horrible! We call to let them know and the lady on the phone was so rude, unprofessional and disrespectful. Then another guy got on the phone and he was so rude and unprofessional. His response was "don't order here again" We will never eat here again. Disgusting food and employee. they are very luck that I'm at work and don't throw this food back in their face. THIS PLACE DONT DESERVE STARS.
This was some of the worst Chinese food that I ever had. I ordered Happy Family, vegetable rolls and Hot and Sour soup. The dish was poorly seasoned. The chicken and pork was tough. The vegetable roll was dry and tough. The rolls did not have many vegetables! I would have sent the food back and asked for a refund if I had eaten at the restaurant. I will never order a dish from this restaurant again.
Worst Chinese food I've ever tasted!!! Spent almost $40 had to feed my dogs the entire meals. Dogs won't even eat the rice . The dumplings the chicken chow mein taste old and like there's a chemical in it the Mongolia beef has a strange after taste and the rice is grey!!Grey!!! They refused to give me a refund or a discount
Everything we got tasted old and reheated. From the ribs down the the rice. I got general Tso chicken. It was way too much sauce and very little chicken. It tasted old and rubbery too. Listen to the other reviews people idk how this place has 4 stars.
The food here is not bad. That is what the two stars are for. I am writing this review because of a Service Issue today. Some was my fault and I take ownership. At first they go after me because I spilled salt on the table. But I was mostly not impressed the way they confronted me while I am eating to make sure I don't drop paper towels on the floor of the hallway door leading out/in of the bath rooms and then telling me to make sure I flush the toilet afterwards. First of all they should have a Wastebasket in the hallway so people have an option to not having to touch the door handles after they wash their hands. Ok..I shouldn't have left the paper towels on the ground. But then to tell me also to make sure I flush the toilet??? They could of handle this differently. As a private business they have every right to confront their customers. But as a consumer I have every right not to eat here again and let my coworkers know the same.
I ordered a seafood delight n got nothing but fish cakes n one shrimp in sweet soy sauce to top it off I also ordered beef sticks which were over cooked with rotten pineapples on it. I have order these items from other places n never have I been so disappointed n left hungry so after being disgusted and spending 26 dollars on dinner I gave it to the dog which she didn't even touch.
Tried Shanghai for the first time recently. Ordered General Tso's Chicken and Beef and Broccoli to go. Both dishes actually tasted very good. Consumed all the G-T Chicken and while eating the B&B, heard a loud crunch. Removed 4 pieces of petrified rat droppings from a broccoli spear! Went back to the restaurant as a favor to them to let them know they need to keep an eye on their kitchen. Showed them the rat droppings on a napkin and told them what happened. Asked for a refund for the B&B only since we had finished the chicken. They refused to accept any responsibility and would not provide a partial refund. Don't plan on going back.
Very disappointed and not recommended for everyone. Lots of MSG, tons of sodium, over cooked beef, tiny bit meat inside the wonton (less than 1/10 of the normal amount). We complained to the manager, she said it wasn't her fault, it is the owner's fault. We spoke to the owner, she said the Americans love lots of sodium and they also love to have wonton with tiny little meat in it. I see, they wanted to fool the Americans and rip them off by calling this Chinese food. It is not Chinese food!
I'm so mad @ myself. I normally always check reviews before eating @ a new Chinese restaurant but this time I didn't & it cost me $60. The numerous BAD reviews this place has are well earned. The food here is awful, borderline sickening. The moo goo guy pan (<spelling?) was the worst I've ever had. I actually only took a few bites & threw it away. It was soooooo salty. Absolutely horrible. The pepper steak was just as bad. Trashed it as well. The chicken fried rice was hard & not at all fresh. The egg drop soup had a slight green tint to it & had the same liquidity as water. I threw it away as well. Then to add insult to injury, they included no sauce packets. No forks, spoons, knives or napkins & gave us the wrong sodas. I basically paid $60 for 5 sodas & 3 fortune cookies. I'm disgusted.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE!!! THE FOOD WILL MAKE YOU SICK! I saw it had 4 stars, but I made the mistake of not looking at recent reviews. This was some of the worst Chinese food I have ever had. The egg drop soup was tinted green. The fried rice was hard, and tasted like it had been made days ago. My boyfriend stomached through 1 steamed dumping, but couldn't eat the rest because the meat tasted off. Later in the night he got sick and had to spend the night by the toilet. Overall, we wasted $50 on food that was inedible. I wouldn't even give this food to my dog. I've never written a food review in my life, but this place was so terrible, it compelled me to warn the public.
Tried to give this place a chance, but it wasn’t worth the money!! We spent almost 40 dollars but food quality was so bad. We got tsao chicken, king Pao chicken and a few appetizers but it was bad! The tsao chicken sauce was way too thick. Fried rice tasted horrible. Nothing tasted fresh. The egg drop soup was watery and tasteless!! I could have cooked it better myself, but we both work so we wanted to order take out. The lady at the register was nice but food was terrible. Don’t waste your money here 🤢
I did not know how bad Chinese food could taste. I’ve had excellent Chinese food before, and when it’s really good you notice the difference. But other than the exceptional places, most take out Chinese is about the same. It hits the spot and satisfies. Then I found Shanghai and it changed my whole outlook. If you ever want to feel good about the usual place you eat Chinese, give this place a try. I had no idea what truly awful Chinese food was before trying their food. Shanghai is a level of bad I didn’t know existed. As we dished up our plates my daughter took a bite of the dumpling appetizer and spit it out. She thought someone spilled nail polish remover on it. That can’t be true I thought and took a bite. Nail polish remover is the only way to describe that taste. Oh well, it’s just the appetizer, so we will skip it. My family sat around the table and started eating. Quickly we began looking at one another. Finally someone said it, “this tastes bad” and the flood gates opened. No one would take another bite. All the food went into the garbage and we ended up eating a frost bitten frozen pizza for dinner. A much better alternative.
The lady at the front with bang is very rude I asked for forks and she grabbed them but the part we use for food and had cash in the other hands $60. I asked for a hot sauce she rolled her eyes and huffed and puffed and told us to call the police we will not give you a refund. The beef was chewy and couldn’t swallow it the rice was hard. The cook then came out and told us get out very rude he will not remake it for us that’s all we wanted. I have the video on TikTok @girlsstea VERY RUDE. she also had a customer began to harass me saying im embarrassing myself and need to go home it’s a family business they are keeping there money wether we like it or not. It not about the food it’s about the customer service that made me request the refund.he then allowed the food to get cold without replacing it. It is a zero service zero food
First time here, ordered chicken Lo Mein, flavor was absolutely horrific. Taste and smell like cleaning products were in the food.
