My fiirst spot on my google map listed as "want to go", and I went there today. Everything is worth for waiting, the burgers and sidedishes were more than good. The owner was kind and friendly with great service mind.
Amazing hidden gem near China Town. Tucked away at the end of an unassuming strip mall building, is this incredibly delicious eatery. The burgers are some of the best that I have ever had. So big they take two hands. The fresh cut seasoned fries are overflowing the tray. I highly recommend trying Texas Hamburger Palace.
This little gem in the corner of a nearly empty shopping strip that many have probably passed by a thousand times. It's a real old timey hamburger joint, not sure how long it's been here . I been passing by it for years, I remember eating here ages ago when this was a happening area of town booming with businesses. The businesses have disappeared but the Palace continues to make some awesome burgers and other great dishes. For me I just love the Cheeseburger and Fries. I love the all the hip decor and the wooden tables. They are probably the only joint in town with a cigarette machine(not working). Brought back memories of when I smoked, and made me grateful I quit. If you are out that way and want an awesome burger, get Googles Maps and put in 5757 Ranchester Dr. #1700! Peace out!
It genuinely reminded me of a burger from the early 90s back when food was still real. No gimmicks, no overthinking it, just a perfectly cooked burger that delivers exactly what you want. The fries were just as good large cut, lightly fried. Simple, done right.
Really good burgers and they sell all sorts of fried foods. I’ve always been impressed by how tasty their food is. IMO best burger joint in Houston.
Literally a tucked away little hidden gem of Houston Food is awesome, service is sooo quick Wish I discovered this a bit quicker - but we got here at least 2-3 times a month for lunch now. Food will have you sleepy though!
Im not sure if this place gets full, but I came during times when there has been like 4 or 5 people. Which I enjoyed 😉. I enjoy not so crowded places. The service was great. The cashier was very nice and the food was great. I had the soy protein burger with half fries and onion rings. The food felt fresh and it was delicious. 😋 I loved the hand cut fries 🍟. Its a place I recommend trying.
We always eat at fajita flats when we come to Houston. Today we decided to try this burger place I saw on google and so glad we did. One of the best homage burgers a fries ivevever eaten. The owner said they've been open for 40 years and was the sweetest man. He suggested what to get being a first timer and was right on point! Definitely recommend and will be back!
Born and bred Texan raised and I love a tasty Whataburger but this place is Great 👍. I had the crumble bleu cheese and added a fried egg and the veggies are on it in a nice size. It’s the best burger I’ve had in years and I’ve only had one bite. If you can come and give them a chance . Try their fried mushrooms. The people that work there are very friendly. Nice to see in today’s climate.
Took my wife here for her first time. I've had a number of visits. She said it was one of the best burgers she's had in Houston. I have to agree. That's why I wanted to bring her. Staff is super friendly, and the prices are reasonable.
We found this restaurant randomly on Google and came because of the reviews. We were warmly greeted by Sam, the owner. We ended up getting a Mushroom Burger, Chili Burger and a BaconCheeseburger with Onions. Sam suggested that we get a single order of fries for the three of us to share and he said that he would give us half fries and half onion rings so we could try both. The rings were big and crispy and the burgers were huge! The fries were made in house from fresh potatoes so they weren’t as crispy as fast food fries. The dining room was decorated with vintage signs and it was exactly what I would expect from an old school texas burger joint. We will definitely be back!
I found this place by a search of burger spots near my work (off the Beltway) and this one had the best ratings and rightly so. The service was great, friendly people. Burger was very good, reminded me of a burger from DQ or Whataburger before they went corporate; bun was toasted and fixings were plentiful. Fries were very good too. Soda machine was a little wonky but it tasted okay. I highly recommend this spot for a good burger in a laidback atmosphere.
My boyfriend loves this place, he ordered the bacon burger with grilled onions and cleared his plate. I had the delicious blue cheese crumble burger. Enormous portion of fries when I got the combo. This spot is unassuming from the outside but the environment is friendly. It is counter service and the gentleman that took our order made sure that our adjustments were correct. Food came out in a timely manner. Highly recommend this place for a good burger, they also had some sandwich options that are a lighter choice.
The only time you see their signboard is when you're about to go under the Westpark driveway. Therefore, this place is almost impossible to stop by if you don't plan ahead of time. The outside doesn't seem like a burger place if the signboard didn't say so. However, the inside atmosphere is pretty good. The decorations make you feel like you are in 60s. The price is good for a meal and should cost you around $12 if you didn't order extra salad or onion rings. We ordered a Texas combo and a super combo. The burger is pretty large in size with lots of tomato and pickle slices. The combo meal is pretty satisfying and filled us up along with a big portion of fries. I would say this place is a little better than whataburger, the burger place I usually go to. Their onion rings look crunchy and tasty. I'll try it out next time.
I am betting I will get to come back and change this to a 5* review. There are MANY things I like about this place. It's been here since 1983. I ate here once in 1987. I have eaten a LOT of places, but few I remember after over 40 years. It's a low key, casual atmosphere. Prices are very reasonable. Some combos are less expensive than I have seen on fast food menu's, and i guarantee the food here is MUCH higher quality. I would rather support a long run local family establishment than a fast food chain any day. What I did not like. The hamburger buns were very sweet. Sweet enough I wonder if they are Hawaiian Sweet ones. Which a LOT of people love, I'm just not overly fond of. Next time I will ask if they have any bread alternatives, perhaps they have Texas Toast they could put it on for me, or I can stand to intake less carbs, I can always do a burger open faced or as a patty melt...but now the thought of it on Texas Toast is really appealing! I also did not like the fries. They were very greasy and floppy and flaccid. I rarely eat in and I often take fries home and reheat them in my air fryer. That gets grease off and can make them crispy. However, they were closing when I got here, so maybe the fries are not normally served this way. I chatted with a couple who came in after me. They told me the fish sandwich here is amazing, and it is on different bread so I may try that next time. They also said this place has the best onion rings. I don't eat onions, but that may be useful for someone. Overall I am happy and will return...in less than 40 years! Will update when I do. I am uploading a couple pictures. I am sure my burger looks boring to most, but they DO come with the veggies...I just don't like my salad ON my burger.
This place was nice. A little run down, but clean and peaceful. Food was pretty quick, took about 10 min to come out. Everything was cooked fresh to order. The meat patty left a little to be desired, but it was hot and fresh. The crispy bacon on my burger was excellent. Real Bacon, not microwaved. The hand cut fries were good, just add a little salt while they are hot. I will definitely go again.
As soon as we walked in, the smell of old oil was overwhelming. We were not greeted. The service was bland. There was nobody else dining there, but we chose to order anyway. We had a basic cheeseburger meal and a double bacon jalapeño cheeseburger meal. The burger patties were juicy but completely flavorless. The fries were an absolute disgrace. They were obviously fried in old oil and they were not seasoned or salted at all. Majority of them were soggy and dark brown. The atmosphere is interesting. The place used to be a bar, which is obvious, as the deco and lighting are that of a bar. This establishment could definitely use a good deep cleaning. I'd hate to see what the food preparation and cooking area look like. In summary, I'm really disappointed that a place called The Burger Palace had such disappointing burgers and fries. For the almost $40 we spent, we could've gone to McDonald's and got better food.
