They have a great romantic atmosphere and the best steak frites I've ever had!
Exquisite dining experience without putting on airs. Delicious and fresh - delight to the tastebuds.
Excellent service, great French food. I like the white trout, it's buttery and tender.
Mr Michelin !! You have to visit this place !!! Authentic, taste, ambiance, tradition, ... this is not about cooking anymore !! This is music !! Exceptional ! Bravo ! Well done guys
Great place with friendly service service and great food. They don’t take reservations. Great location, we love French food and wish they would expand on their menu.
One of the best restaurants in the finger lakes region. Phenomenal service and food. Loved their chocolate cake for dessert.
this was only a mere choice that i made tonight in this little town, happened to be the right choice! i love the food they professionally cooked, gourmet class at a very resonable price! well trained staffs and relax ambience! highly recommended.
Very nice, quaint bistro. Good food, good drinks. The only thing I'd improve is the beer menu. A very nice place to have a romantic dinner.
Cent-Dix by far has some of the best food in Ithaca. They are consistent with quality, service and great cocktails.
Amzazing food!!! Steak frites was amazing. Cooked to perfection. French onion soup was so good. Everything was great! Service was also really great!!
The overall experience was great. Staff and other guests were very cool. The food came out quickly and was perfect. I would definitely go again.
Nice quiet atmosphere. Authentic French cuisine at a reasonable price and a fantastically attentive staff make this Cafe a must-visit in downtown Ithaca.
I went here for a drink and dinner and couldn't have been more impressed. Between the incredible food and beverages amd equally amazing service, its easily a favorite restaurant in the area.
Oh so good. Really good food, service and atmosphere. Noise level is just about right and seating quite comfortable. Excellent food in a really nice town.
Best restaurant in Ithaca. Bring your out of town guests here if you want to impress them.
Great food, service, and wine selection. We enjoyed every bite of our meals.
If you are choosing to not order the pork loin entree then you are actively making choices against the betterment of your health and well-being. DELISH!!!
I was happy to see Phil get sent home because he didn’t have an American ID and Hugo not given two drinks at the same time!!
Hands-down the best restaurant in Ithaca! I recommend the frisée salad.
Terrific atmosphere with fantastic food to accompany. A+ cocktails too. Overall great restaurant.
the best in town . I tried trout and stakes, they are great and fresh. I recommend it to any one who is in Ithaca.
Haute dining experience in Ithaca, with interesting menu. To start you get a nice freshly baked bread and nice small plates of bites. I recommend the stake frites and the mussels.
The smiley disposition and cheery attitude of the staff here really made our dinner exceptional. Our server Anna was kind and accommodating and the maî·tre d' Eric was so happy to make suggestions and ensure our visit was incredible, which it was! We ordered oysters cooked in Pernod, steak tartare, escargot en croûte and a pâté de campagne to begin, all were stunning. For dinner we enjoyed a wonderfully prepared Bouillabaisse and the Parisian gnocchi prepared with mushrooms, lardons & assorted vegetables. Our wine pairing with each course went perfectly from Viognier and Muscadet to a Gigondas and Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Dessert was an exciting, light incredibly prepared chocolate mousse torte and vanilla ice cream with Pedro Ximénez sherry poured over it. Cannot wait to eat here on our next trip to Ithaca.
We had a fabulous dinner yesterday. The tartare and the steak were great. The waiter was friendly, fast, and knowledgeable about the wines.
What a fantastic spot! We arrived and started sitting at the bar, but tables turned over and we were able to move to a table within 10 minutes. Excellent food and wine selections- and the service was top notch. It was a great start to a celebration road trip!
We visited the Cayuga Lake and Finger Lakes area after hearing how beautiful, and after 1/2 a day of hiking, we decided to walk around downtown to find a dinner place. All of the outdoor dining places were booked solid and we walked into Cent-Dix. Excellent experience from the food, to the service, to the ambience, to the location. Food was superb, from our salad to our desserts, wow! Will come back again. Thank you.
The roasted chicken is a must-try, maybe the best entree on the menu. Crispy skin and juicy and tender meat. Side potato purée is also amazing. Beef bourguignon is very tender and well cooked. The flavor however does not have a “wow” effect compared to the roasted chicken. Still very good overall. Onion soup is very nice. Portion is enough for one. Lime pie is on the sour side but just the right acidity to refresh your palette after a flavorful meal. Service is awesome. Very graceful waitstaff. One downside is the bar takes up too much space and therefore seats are limited.
This is the best meal we’ve had in recent memory. The most genuine French food we’ve had outside of France to be sure. The cassoulet and both special apps (mussels and sweet bread) are unreal. The service is also phenomenal! A special touch; all glasses for drinks are brought chilled.
The atmosphere is great, Ithaca area restaurants have the apparent need to 'stack' customers atop one another; this was not the case here. They manage to create an atmosphere which feels appropriately private, yet connected to the rest of the establishment(we sat in a booth acroos from the bar area). The food was fabulous, pricing just right(spent $130 for dinner for two with drinks and appetizers). I will definitely return.
We went to Cent-Dix for dinner last Saturday evening and sat at the bar. The cocktails were great and the wine list is interesting and reasonably priced. The food was excellent!! We ordered the house made sourdough bread, which is some of the best sourdough I've ever had, and the radishes with butter and the snap peas with mint, lemon and feta. Both were nice snacks to share! The feature on Saturday night was a steak for two with creamed kale and pommes boulangere. Perfectly cooked and well seasoned. We also got the ricotta gnocchi with ramps, asparagus and chanterelles served with a beurre blanc... I wish there was a place like this in Syracuse. Relaxed and homey vibe with excellent French bistro fare all priced reasonably and served with smiles all around!! Would be here every week if I lived closer!
This is one of my favorite restaurants in Ithaca AND .. I don't even like French cuisine. The service is wonderful and the atmosphere elegant yet relaxed. The ingredients are also truly excellent and I know them to be top quality and healthy always.
Just absolutely delicious food. Really well thought out and presented. We stumbled in here by accident while visiting from other parts of NY and NC. Don't typically do blind adventures for food, but wasn't convinced on Ithaca spots. This place was just a gem. If I'm back in this area, 100% will be back here. Was like something out of Boston or NYC
Cafe Cent-Dix is an excellent and authentic French bistro. They offer a wide selection of appetizers, a fairly short but well-diversified list of entrees, a heavenly dessert menu, and an extensive wine list with very good by-the-glass selections. All the food we ordered was superb, the service was very professional and the ambiance is cozy but elegant. A fine addition to Ithaca's "restaurant row" and highly recommended.
Wonderful in all aspects...great wine selection, appetizers and main course. Everyone starting from host, bar tender to server were excellent. Great atmosphere and food was amazing!
Everything was great!!! We had Steak frites, beef was very tender and flavorful, perfectly cooked. Homemade ketchup and garlic aioli for the fries. The creme caramel was very good. Service was friendly and attentive.
absolutely PHENOMENAL. great food- amazing service. Renee (our server) was so sweet, friendly, and knowledgeable and Brenna (manager) was so helpful. Beautiful people, space, and amazing food- literally no room for desert it was all so good! Best food i’ve ever had.
The steak frites and duck were phenomenal, they make a great hot toddy! Best of all was our waitress Jess! Make sure you ask for her by name. Her expertise with the menu was wonderful!
No reservations accepted so we try to be there as they open, it’s a very nice experience, you order everything at once and they do it in courses.
Pia, our server (maybe a misspell), and everyone else that worked there was beyond knowledgeable. They walked us through food, wine, and liquor choices when we were a little indecisive and needed help. One of the better meals I’ve had, and probably top 3 I’ve ever had in Ithaca. Highly recommend the daily specials, but NEED to recommend the steak frites. Perfect sear on the steak and the fries are tight shoe string fries, aka crunchy. Also the onion soup is enough for two to share if you want. I usually am not a fan, but this one opened my eyes to what French onion soup should be. Huge wine list, but if you can narrow it down to a few, they will guide you to the right choice. 5/5 all around for service, food, and drinks. If you get the chocolate cake, don’t be shy to also grab a glass of milk.
Across the menu, Cent-Dix has outstanding food. By far, the 'steak for two' is the best steak we've had in Ithaca. Meat is always cooked to perfection, and the layers of ingredients and flavors are finessed and let the ingredients shine. We especially enjoy the variety of appetizers every time we visit -- the assortment of dishes focused around seasonal ingredients is delightful and what we look forward to most about dining here.
First time here- meal was lovely. All the courses were excellent, service was great, wine list is simultaneously serious *and* affordable. Bravo. Bonus points for being so accommodating to my gluten-free situation. Not always an easy thing with French cuisine, but was no trouble at all here. Much appreciated, and we'll surely be back.
A very cozy place coupled with great food making the entire evening feel like a warm hug. Thank you!
Le Cafe is a surprising gem in Ithaca. The staff were really wonderful, helpful and cherry. I enjoyed an excellent steak with a wonderful tomato salad and homemade bread. One can’t go wrong with Le Cafe Cent-Dix. It’s also fun to sit at the bar.
Traveling the world and working in the service and hospitality industry for 15 years gives you a ton of perspective about quality. This was the absolute most amazing dining experience. The food, service, drinks and atmosphere are beyond anything I have ever had. Thank you to Chef Adam and his Wife Brenna who made the experience so wonderful. Don’t forget to get there right at 5:30 because there will be a line out of the door! DELICIOUS!
A great food experience is really hard to come by in the sea of mediocrity you encounter today. From soup to nuts the experience was great. Food amazing, one of the best meals I’ve ever had. Service was on point, friendly, present and engaged. Really a wonderful experience. You know it’s a good meal when you talk about it for days. Can’t recommend it enough. Go if you want a true culinary experience.
Spectacular experience. Food, service and atmosphere are all exceptional. Well executed wine list with some standouts by the glass. This is the kind of restaurant that you come to for an experience, not just a meal. Choosing your own 3-5 course journey is essential or you're missing the point. Our server was a knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide throughout the process. Highly recommended.
This place was great. We stopped in here for lunch without a reservation and they squeezed us in. We both got a cup of their clam chowder and it was excellent. For my entree I got the French toast special with egg nog and raspberry. The wife loved her spicy Bloody Mary. Highly recommended. Probably the best clam chowder over ever had; I didn’t want it to end!
I have been here 3 times in the last 3 months and the word to describe my experience is WOW. I want to start with the food. Literally every almost every dish from the starter, main course, and desert we were saying “wow this is great.” Followed passing forks and plates around so everyone could taste. Their service is also spectacular. The first time I went there I was with a person with some major allergies and the waiter and manager both checked in and were very attentive. The second time we were there the credit card machine was down which was a clear stressor but aside from several apologizes you would of never know there was anything wrong because the service was top notch. One of our party was pregnant and the bartender came up with a specialty Mocktail. This is my new favorite place in Ithaca.
Favorite restaurant in Ithaca. I was almost hesitant to leave a review for fear of this spot getting too popular/busy, but everyone needs to know this gem. Some of the best food I have ever had in my life, including in my 12 years living in NYC. Every single dish is incredible - standouts so far have been their heirloom tomatoes (I still dream of these) and their beef tartare (best I have ever had). Add all that up with exceptional service and a lovely atmosphere, and you’ve got pure dining-out delight.
Incredible food and atmosphere. The french fries were heavenly and the duck was very tasty. The place doesn't seat too many people and wait times can get very long, so consider coming a few minutes before they open to guarantee a spot.
Took my daughter and her roommate here for dinner after moving them in to their dorm. Short version: Food and Service were excellent and price was reasonable for what we got. Long version: We all ordered different dishes and all loved it. The girls are under aged and the waitress recommended their house Mocktail "Sophisticated Lady". These were also raved about. The meal portions are not huge but they are reasonable (I like food and I thought the servings were properly sized). You'll be able to finish your meal and still have room for dessert. My daughter and her roommate both said the portion sizes were perfect. Menu is a la carte. We ordered bread service, 1st course (3), appetizer, entree (3), and dessert (3). All totalled to $185. Coming from Long Island, that was very reasonable.
Great night and food. Cant wait to come back, everything from start to finish was amazing.
Consistently one of the best restaurants in Ithaca. Absolutely delicious no matter what we get, excellent service, and a cozy welcoming environment. Great for dates, a bit of an upscale bar, and eating the seasons. We must have been a dozen times now
Paris style restaurant with the American touch. All dishes were very good. The wine list is mainly of french wines, I think most of them are overpriced. Nice atmosphere, bad acoustics. We enjoyed the place very much.
Favorite place to be a bar fly in Ithaca. Come by yourself, come with a few friends and sit at the bar. There is always a large variety of tasty wines. I’ve never had a bad meal here. I recommend the small bites if you want to have a cheaper meal. If you are on date, buy a bottle of wine, a few small bites and mains. You’re all set
Excellent and imaginative food. The two of us shared a very interesting twist on bouillabaisse and steak frites. Both perfectly cooked. But the real highlight was the first coursec- both salads: the roasted gem lettuce and spring peas.
An absolutely incredible dining experience in every aspect. The food, atmosphere, and service all complimented each other beautifully and made for a stunning night. The meal is ordered all at once and coursed out, allowing to be continuously one upped by the last item and be continuously impressed by the dishes. The appetizer dishes blew me away and somehow the food maintained or surpassed the quality at every turn. Service was impeccable and very well informed on all the dishes, exactly what you would expect from a restaurant of this caliber. No weak points in this dinner at all. Highly highly recommend coming here if you are looking for an elegant and delicious meal that will blow you away, as long as you’re prepared to pay accordingly, but it will be worth it.
Because of the comments in the reviews, we started the line in front of the door at 5:20 pm on a Sat. By opening time, there were10 people behind us. By 6 pm, the restaurant was full, including seating at the bar. There are only 6 two-tops, 6 seats at the bar and ?5 booths that can seat 6. They do take names and numbers to contact later arrivals when a table opens. Tonight, it was after 7 pm before one did. We absolutely enjoyed our meal with an excellent 2006 Pomerol. There was a large lag before our main arrived, and I forgot to take a picture until we had already dug in. Service was friendly and efficient. The Beef Tartare was prepared classically and was delicious. The côte de boeuf was somewhat tough inn places, but the demi-glace was heavenly and made up for it. It was served on the rare side of med.-rare. I splurged on chocolate cake, and it was worth every calorie! (light and fluffy with excellent cocoa flavor). My husband loves Pedro Ximenez sherry, and deigned to eat it over vanilla ice cream. ;)
We visited this French restaurant for an early Valentine's celebration and faced a long 50-minute wait. The warm lighting and decent wine selection set a welcoming atmosphere, earning the decor a 7/10. Service was impressive, with a knowledgeable server, deserving an 8/10. Our meal journey began with entrées: fennel slices at 6/10, beef tartare with a strong capers flavor at 7/10, and an overly salty onion soup gratinée at 6/10. The main courses were a hit or miss, with the monkfish and mashed potato standing out at 8/10, while the duck confit was too salty, scoring a 6/10. The meal concluded with a decent almond cake, rated 6/10. In summary, the ambiance and service were highlights. It's worth another visit.
I've only been here twice, but this place has definitely become my favorite restaurant. We got the heirloom tomatoes this time and they were the best I've ever had. The French onion soup was exceptional, just like the last time I was here and the scallops were delicious! The only unfortunate thing is that they don't take reservations, but I definitely don't mind waiting outside for a little for this food!

OMG SO GOOD. I did not expect to have such delicious French food in Ithaca!!!! Everything tasted amazing, make sure to order their steak fries, so tender and creamy.
Really outstanding French Wines on tap!!! Wonderful French Onion Soup and Creme Brulee for dessert. Honestly, I thought I was in one of the better French Bistros in Paris, and I have been to many, many. Well done.

Cent Dix is arguably one of the best restaurants in Ithaca, and by that measure perhaps one of the best in the finger lakes. Service is operationally so well executed allowing the hospitality to shine. This is an operation full of talented people, who care deeply about food and drink. You can both taste and feel the intense obsession with excellence.
Café Cent Dix is a fantastic spot for a classic French bistro experience right in the heart of Ithaca. The atmosphere is warm, intimate, and just the right mix of upscale and relaxed—great for a date night or special occasion. We’ve had consistently excellent meals here. The steak frites is a standout—perfectly cooked with crispy, golden fries—and the mussels are always fresh and flavorful. The wine list is well-curated, with thoughtful pairings, and the cocktails are beautifully done too. Service is polished but approachable, and the attention to detail really shows. Prices are what you’d expect for high-quality French dining, but totally worth it for the experience. Definitely one of the top spots in Ithaca for a reliably wonderful meal!
As a general rule, i try not to amend reviews. But W.O.W. the lamb is AMAZING right now. Truely spectacular. I cant imagine living without it. You have to try it. Dont worry, they are still the absolute top end of food in the southern tier.
We had a fantastic, romantic, delicious dinner here. I was so impressed by how seasonal the menu was while also being bright and varied even at the tail end of December. The food was creative but comforting and the service was impeccable without being stuffy or overbearing.
I live in NYC but I always make a point to visit this restaurant when I come up to Ithaca to visit my folks. It’s one of only two restaurants here that meets the high quality standards of a big city like New York. Great food, great service, I can’t recommend this place more if you’re looking for fine dining in the area. Tip: try the vieux carre.
My favorite restaurant in Ithaca! Very popular and you see lines people waiting before they open. Friday special duck breast is highly recommended. And the vous carre cocktail.
In a city known for its eclectic and collegiate dining scene, Le Café Cent-Dix stands out as a sophisticated, unwavering anchor of French culinary tradition. Stepping into the bistro, you are immediately met with an atmosphere that balances rustic brick charm with the polished, high-energy hum of a Parisian brasserie. It is intimate, dimly lit, and undeniably "Ithaca-chic." The Main Event: Classic Execution The Steak Frites at Cent-Dix is a masterclass in why simplicity, when done correctly, is unbeatable. The steak—typically a hanger or bistro cut—was seared to a perfect medium-rare, boasting a deeply caramelized crust that gave way to a tender, flavorful interior. The accompanying maître d'hôtel butter added a rich, herbed decadence as it melted across the meat. The "frites" were exactly what you’d hope for: thin, golden, salty, and dangerously addictive, served in a portion size that respects the French appetite for indulgence. The Seasonal Highlight: Scallops Opting for the Menu of the Day Scallops proved to be the highlight of the evening. The kitchen clearly respects its ingredients; the scallops were pan-seared to a stunning golden brown while maintaining a buttery, translucent center. They were served over a seasonal bed that highlighted the chef's ability to pull from local Finger Lakes produce. The dish felt lighter and more nuanced than the steak, providing a bright, oceanic counterpoint to the heavier bistro fare. The Verdict Le Café Cent-Dix doesn't try to reinvent the wheel; instead, it polishes it until it shines. With an impressive French-focused wine list and a service staff that is knowledgeable without being pretentious, it remains one of the best spots in town for a celebratory dinner or a high-end date night.

The appetizer were all excellent. The steak is slight dry but still good.
Great food, service, & time! I was also very impressed: #1 They responded the same day to their web form that I filled out and #2 With their response. We look forward to returning!! Thank you all for a GREAT time!!
Immediately upon sitting down, the waitress informed us that we should each order both appetizers and entrees.
This is a favorite haunt of mine and though the menu is limited there's something for most tastes. It is a classic bistro. The wine selection is also very good. The bar serves up some excellent retro cocktails, some that originated in the 1920's! The atmosphere is chic and cosy.
Excellent... however the special ribeye we had last night was a third inedible due to silverskin/ gristle. It was enough for me, but my husband had to work to get the edible meat portions. Everything else for our party of four was Excellent and portion appropriate. No reservations, we got there very shortly after opening for the evening, and barely got a table. Very intimate and warm, appropriately attentive wait staff.
Very nice fancy place. Delicious cocktail. Delicious food though my only critique was the presentation was not terribly well executed. For the price, more attention should be paid to adding color to the plate, garnish, some artistry to make the plate more appealing. For example, I got the boulliabaise (which really wasn't that at all, would describe it differently) and I ordered creme brulee and it could have used maybe sime berries or something on the plate. I will say they are an honest bunch. I lost a bracelet there and they held it for me. I was grateful to have it returned. I would return to taste more of the menu for sure!
Small place, didn't like having to sit at the bar only due to being solo. No reservations accepted. Wish there was more seating. The food was divine and I would return for another visit. The desserts were special and made by the owners wife, loved them so ordered two. Would love to see more French inspired entrees as the menu is somewhat limited. Also the addition of escargot
I was quite surprise to find such fine dinning in such small town. Real French place with Paris like atmosphere! It’s not cheap but it’s worth it!

Fantastic French onion soup. Also ordered the steak for two (daily special) upon recommendation by waiter - disappointing (no flavor and a little tough) the gnocchi was also mid. The celeriac salad was very good. We arrived 20 minutes before opening and just made the first seating.

Everything else for our party of four was Excellent and portion appropriate. No reservations, we got there very shortly after opening for the evening, and barely got a table. Very intimate and warm, appropriately attentive wait staff.
Prices were very high and menu options were limited. just a bowl of soup and a salad was $20 before any drinks. decided to try a desert because that was the cheapest item on the menu, at $8, and it wasn't good. it tasted like it was previously frozen
Food looked good. Staying at the Conopy Hilton hotel next door. The restaurant had no take-out options.
Food was good, but they have a limited menu and they ran out of the special of the day. It was a Sun. so maybe the weren't expecting so many people. My wife loved the Salmon. Will try again and see if they can do better.
First off I should preface this review with I am not a huge fan of french food to begin with but it was my wifes birthday so she picked! The place The place is very small and they don't except reservations so if you go around prime time except a wait. It very cute if you are a party of two you will get a very small table they is about 2-3 feet from another. Not the greatest for but not terrible either. The staff Our waitress was great she answered all our questions and was back to check on us every few minutes to make sure we had everything we needed. She explained everything on the menu. The food I ordered the Bibb salad to start and I must say I was really disappointed. It literally was a few pieces of lettuce and weak flavorless vinaigrette supposedly with herbs for 7 bucks. It had no flavor and not worth ordering. For dinner I ordered the roasted chicken and was impressed. Normally this is a dish I avoid because it normally is dry or unflavored. However they did a great job it came on a bed of mashed potatoes and green beans. My wife had the Escargot which she loves however she said it was bland but not terrible. For dinner she had the PARISIAN GNOCCHI which she said was ok. The verdict I really cant recommend this place the food is at best average and our bill was 70 bucks for two. I dont see the value for the food quality and portion. As I said before I am not a big French food fan but I have been to a few others and they were way better than this place.
Was excited about a new steak place (this town is lacking) but overall disappointed. A French inspired restaurant, but outside of the overly high prices, I'm not sure what the deal is. First trip got the steak for two with my partner and overall it was a decent steak. But "for two" it was small and overpriced. Would have been a big steak for one person, but for two I'm guessing the French eat very small meals. Still, it was good enough to come back and try something else. Second trip I got the steak and fries... Ordered medium and the outer ring was 'well', but the center was 'blue'. Really weird and I've only seen that happen with frozen steaks not properly thawed. Like the center was that very different texture of raw. Fries were good though. That being said, even the properly cooked parts were from an average at best steak. Also added the bread on the second trip. Overall taste of the bread was fine, but the crust was half an inch thick and was very hard and crunchy. I'd normally like that, but it went way too far. They're supposed to be a wine bar centered, but only have a couple options not buying the whole bottle. They are supposed to have wine "on tap" but those were not working when I was there. Decent liquor selection, but no mixers and 4 beers in bottles to choose from. Not sure what they're aiming for, but I don't think they've hit it. Maybe I'll try again in a few months, but there are too many good options around to keep going back. Overall very disappointed.
Well this is slightly a hard one to write because I’m feeling fairly cranky about the dinner. Love the menu. They don’t do reservations but we arrived early since we were headed to a show and even at 5:30 when they open there was a line. They did make short work of the line getting people to tables and telling you how the menu worked. I had a Soleil Rose which was great since I love tart drinks. We decided on a bunch of things we wanted to try and ordered bread, celery root, raclette, onion soup, pâte, and fries. That was six things but not an entrée and the waiter then did some guilt thing that tables were only for people ordering entrees but that he would be nice to us and not move us to the bar and let us stay at the table. I said we would be fine moving to the bar but he kept at how nice he was being to let us stay at the table and sort of guilted us into adding the gnocchi, an entree, to split at the end. I was pretty precise about which dishes we wanted as appetizers and what we wanted as our mains but that didn’t even come close to happening. They brought them probably in the order they got prepared and I’m certain they forgot the fries and brought them as our last dish while we were part way through the gnocchi (we wanted them with the French onion soup). So boo on them and the service. On the up side the food was great and the frites were perfection. Of the dishes I listed the only one I wouldn’t recommend is the gnocchi. It had great gnocchi and the squash puree under it was nice but the topping and mushrooms had so much salt I had to scrape them off. And I think salt is fine and loved the salt on the frites. This was just strangely massive. The sourdough bread was crusty and thick with great tooth. The butter was lovely and I think not salted. The onion soup was perfectly balanced with a lovely rich flavor but remained light. The celery root salad was creative and light as was the pate dish. In the end I would have liked the bar better since the table was wide but short which is to say I was quite a bit further away from my wife across from me than from the people to either side of me at neighboring tables. The food is good enough to go again but I’ll be more insistent about food order and if it is just two of us we’ll sit at the bar. Oh and pet peeve on the tip thing. The receipt had that bit where they do the math for you to help and it was for 20%, 22%, and 25%.

I came here a few months ago and got the winter carrots and steak frites. The steak frites were underwhelming, especially because they seemed like such a popular item. The steak was quite tough and extremely hard to cut and chew despite being medium rare, and the fries were unmemorable. The winter carrots were the most disgusting bite I’d had in awhile, though I attribute that to my own ignorance. I didn’t know winter carrots were supposed to be served cold and mostly raw, and I could only bear to eat half a piece out of politeness. Being seated at the bar only multiplied the awkwardness; the bartender noticed the full plate and asked me multiple times if I liked it, but I didn’t want to sound like an idiot and say that I didn’t expect them to be cold and hard, so I lied and said it was fine. Overall, not a great experience especially for the price
Not sure I quite understand the ‘hype’ around this restaurant. We were advised by our waitress to order 2-3 plates each (hors d’oevre, salad etc) and a main course. By ordering it all at the same time, the kitchen could plan our meal experience accordingly. However we only really wanted a main course each (and dessert) and were told that was fine but if we didn’t order a starter, we would have quite a long wait for our main courses. 45 minutes later our main courses arrived (steak frites). No idea why it needed to take so long. We’d never had steak frites served this way (steak was pre sliced) and the steak was excellent, however the frites were luke warm at best and so crispy you couldn’t eat them with a fork. We mentioned this to the waitress who said ‘that’s how they’re supposed to be served’…..wrong. She did then go back to the kitchen and in due course we received a basket of perfectly cooked, hot frites, just as we were finishing our steak. Clearly the first batch had been regenerated and were not fresh. At $40 dollars a piece I would have expected better quality control from the kitchen. This totally spoilt our experience so we left without ordering dessert.

My husband and I were very much looking forward to celebrating our anniversary dinner at this restaurant. The service was excellent – friendly and efficient. However, the food was very underwhelming, mostly because everything was so heavily salted. Actually, everything was seasoned with a heavy hand. The salad was dressed so heavily, one could not fully appreciate the delicate flavor of the greens. There were some nice touches but overall, it was disappointing.
we called from our hotel to enquire about booking a table. They didnt do booking, but were told come on down we have plenty of seating right now In and outside. So we did. The place was full with a loooong wait. And only 3 tables outside We asked why they had told us that, and the guy said he always says that. Obviously we were a bit annoyed so we asked him why he had lied. We were told "well we wouldnt want people to not come, and I didnt lie." Then he got a little confrontational and just said "buh bye" hmmm we dont get this style of business. He did lie so we spent our money elsewhere....buh 👋
Turned us away at 7pm, 2 hours before closing time on a Saturday date night, we were clearly all dressed up for the night out. Wouldn't make an exception. Have never in all my life been turned away this early, in a place that doesn't even accept reservations. Nowhere does it say on their site or in their Google page that they won't seat after a certain time or # of tables. No explanation was given other than fully booked. So disappointing.
Extremely rude. Waited in line for them to decline seating because we were twosome and only booths were available
Just left there on August 21. My wife’s chicken was raw. The waitress told us this was a common complaint. The waitress then showed it to the bartender and never said a word about it to us after we reported the raw chicken thigh. When we called to talk to someone, they had no manager to talk too. We went due the high ratings and won’t ever go back. We were going to go next door to thier other restaurant but not now.
The conduct of this restaurant and its owner is possibly fraudulent and beyond condescending. This restaurant is listed as accepting gift cards that work at a variety of restaurants in downtown Ithaca. Because the gift cards do not work at every restaurant in Ithaca, they must have agreed to accept payment on these cards in return for the advertising offered by the cards. The advertising, indeed, worked, as my girlfriend and I went here because they were listed as accepting the $50 gift card we had. When it came time to pay, they refused payment on the gift card because they said it didn't work on their system, an issue that they claimed they would work out with the downtown Ithaca gift card the next day. Even more absurdly, they refused to accept payment in full on my credit card, subject to me leaving the gift card, them working out the technical issue with the card, and crediting that amount back. Instead, we were treated to an hour of condescension, total denial of responsibility for the fact that they are voluntarily advertising their services through the cards, and cavalier assurances that while our frustration was understood, there was literally nothing they were willing to do. I have, candidly, never been treated with such contempt in my life. Businesses need to take responsibility for their advertising, and if you voluntarily hold yourself out as accepting a certain form of payment, you have to take it. Especially if $50 is as trivial a sum as they made it sound when they were mocking us. I'm happy to believe that ultimately, this is a problem with the Ithaca gift cards and their systems, and the food was good. If indeed the Ithaca gift cards are using their name without their permission, I'm also happy to accept that that is where the fraud is (though obviously that's something for them to work out with the gift card people, not a loss to be absorbed by customers). This may not be a problem for everyone. But their treatment of us was absolutely unacceptable and beyond the pale for any restaurant. They certainly lost us.
We recently went because they advertise on the Downtown Ithaca Gift Card as a restaurant accepting THE Downtown Ithaca Gift Card. When we gave them a gift card loaded with $50 Cent Dix acknowledged they are supposed to accept it as a form of payment and tried swiping it… they were having technical issues with their system (likely due to their recent reopening) and at any other establishment this would have been a non-issue resolved with the simple solution of the restaurant confirming the value of the gift card they advertise as taking, and then figuring out the technical issues with the third party Gift Card vendor and their system after the customer left…. But of course this was not the case and a reasonable solution could not be achieved at Cent Dix. If you’re list as accepting a local gift card (which you initially acknowledged you’re supposed to accept before backpedaling), please don’t try to get me to believe you didn’t agree to do that and you no longer have to accept it even though you initially were trying to fulfill it’s known role as a payment method for YOUR restaurant. And IF the third party gift card vendor did list you without your permission, you need to sue them, not treat your customers with such contempt. The owner of this restaurant was mocking us to his staff and other customers in addition to refusing to deduct the value of the gift card they list as taking from our bill…the cherry topper, them threatening to call the police because we insisted they answer the question of why one of the following two solutions we were proposing would not work for them: Solution Option 1) confirm the value of the gift card, accept the gift card and then resolve it with the Downtown Ithaca consortium in the morning since there was a prior agreement there to be advertised as accepting the card. Solution Option 2) charge us in full and collect the gift card we tried to pay with, and refund us the additional $50 we had to pay out of pocket when the technical issues with the gift card and your system have been resolved. Instead we were berated and publicly humiliated, being gaslit as if we were ridiculous for trusting they would accept a form of payment they list as accepting. The only answer the owner would provide on the “why” was “I’m not going to do that, it’s too much work”. My advice, close the restaurant again and fix your poor management and your waitstaff’s poor table side manner before reopening to serve average at best French cuisine.
