This place is amazing. This was our first visit and the food was so good we placed an order to go. Food was so flavorful, the staff was so friendly and attentive. We will make the drive again without a doubt!

OK, I’m just going to say it…this was the best ramen I have ever had!! I ate the tofu ramen with the vegetarian broth. It was stocked full of flavor that just wouldn’t quit! Our server had a really funny sense of humor too lol I highly recommend this place!

New dishes are as great as the previous ones. I tried spicy pork and it was AWESOME!!! Will definitely come back for other dishes. 😊

Omg, this ramen! The whole bowl was a slice of heaven 🤤 Gotta give some props to the wait staff too... My husband and I were in a rush to get food before a show and the waitress picked right up on it. She sat us down, brought out our food within 5 mins of ordering, and we were out the door 15 minutes later (during their dinner rush no less). Absolute must visit if you're in Ithaca.

Vegan options! Vegetable miso was delicious. Shiitakes are braised and flavorful. Vegetable sushi very very good. Food came out FAST!! Servers very friendly.

Great ramen spot! First visit I had the spicy tantamen ramen, second visit I had the tonkotsu ramen. Both were packed with flavor! The pork buns were really tasty and my wife really enjoyed her pork katsu 👍🏼

We ordered too much food here so we could try multiple items. We got the buns, ramen, and gogi. Everything was really tasty, at a reasonable price. The ramen bowls were pretty large.

Was visiting this area for a hiking trip. The wait staff sat us right away & was very attentive. We had fried dumpling and ramen bowls. I was very impressed with the size of the bowl and how much was actually in it for the price. Would love to return!

The food here is amazing, Reasonably priced, and the after ordering we received our food in 5 minutes! Watch out though, the broth could put you to sleep in some dishes!

Delicious , filling, freshly made ramen that is NOT OILY in the slightest. This rivals some NYC places I’ve been to. Love the food and am a regular here. The wait staff are also very kind and accommodating.

After strolling around Cornell U for 4 hours, Maru Ramen is just perfect 4 this cold autumnal evening. We ordered Spicy Seafood ramen & Tori ramen & dumplings, and they don't disappoint at all. Happy tummy, happy night.

Delicious vegan ramen — perfect warming bowl of the miso veggie ramen with yam noodles (asked for no egg), huge portion and quick service. Braised shiitake mushrooms were the highlight!

Very good ramen in Ithaca. Our order was made very fast. Decent price. Lots of different kinds of ramen available to choose from

The hussel and bussel of this of this place definitely gave us a hint that it was going to be good. As a first timer this was not off-putting at all! Great atmosphere sitting at the bar. We were anticipating our food so much that we ate all our Tempura shrimp sushi in a heartbeat! The purple rice and expertly rolled sushi were gorgeous and had a taste to match. Pictured are our ramen bowls which, by appearance, speak for themselves.

Small, homey place with very good ramen. My son is a bit of a picky eater and they let him tailor his own meal to his liking. All of the staff were very cheerful and patient. All of our food was great and piping hot for a long while.

Came here on a Friday night. It was busy, but plenty of seating available for 2. Service was quick. The maru pork Katsu is so delicious. I can’t put my finger on it what makes it different from others, but I still can’t stop thinking about it. The tantanmen ramen is definitely spicy, incredibly flavorful, and just perfect for a cool summer night. If I am ever back in Ithaca, I would come back here again!

Yummmm! Love this place! Friendly service, DELICIOUS food. Will come back many times! It was hard to choose from everything on the menu because it all looked so good. We had a lovely sake as well.

This was my 1st time trying Ramen. The bar was set so high after this that I'm not sure I want to go anywhere else. I hear they are also located in Binghamton, which is great. The food could not have been better.

Very good place to eat. Pork buns are different compared to all the other ramen places I've been to but they were still really good. I ordered the Tori ramen (spicy chicken ramen) and it was really good and nice and spicy.

Visited Ithaca with my parents and my daughter for a day and planned to have dinner at Maru Ramen. We arrived after 6pm and got a table for four. Our order was taken immediately and the food arrived quickly. We started with hirata buns with pork, a steamed bun with perfectly tender slices of pork. This was followed with the beef dumplings, edamame, seaweed salad, and vegetable tempura (crispy and light shredded veggies). My stepfather got the avocado bibimbop, mom got the Hangover ramen (spicy broth with pork), daughter got the miso broth with pork, and I got the tonkotsu ramen. The noodles are fresh, pork sliced thin and tender, and the broths were perfect (not salty and flavorful) even on a sunny day. Clean place, wonderful quick service, delicious food and great selective beverage menu. Worth the visit.

Very cute restaurant. Very attentive and sweet staff. The food was delicious from the first bite. I got the pork buns and the lettuce (cabbage?) with the pork added a nice crunch texture. The flavors were nice and the food came out very quickly (within a few minutes). I liked the okonomiyaki as well (although the sauces on top weren’t my favorite). The seafood ramen was delicious. I should have gotten medium spicy instead of full spicy tho. It was VERY spicy. I couldn’t finish the broth. Lastly, the green tea is straight from Japan, and the green tea ice cream tastes like matcha in ice cream form (I should have asked about the brand). Overall, nice visit with friends. Would return no questions asked.

Delicious quality ramen and so much variety and options to choose from! Lots of appetizers options from kimchi buns to spicy crab rolls, dumplings, and shrimp tempura! They need more locations and this cute small spot downtown is very cozy! Will definitely come back again. Fast service too- they won't keep you waiting. Very impressed!

Excellent hidden gem. Really good Ramen and other Thai dishes. Everything was authentic and tasty. The Vegetable Tempura, Maru-Katsu, and Shoyu Ramen with Shrimp Tempura were excellent. We washed it down with a good Sake. Everything was reasonably priced with prompt and friendly service.

I love the variety of food that this restaurant has offered. The taste is good, I especially likes the octopus salad appetizer. Download mobile parking app before hand, that's for street parking.

Cute little place! Waitress was attentive and nice, able to answer any questions we had. The food we got came out really fast and was fresh! I tried something a previous reviewer suggested, and glad I did. The dumplings were soooo good. The prices surprised me- I thought it would be more expensive than it was.

I love eating at Maru Ramen! Such great food. It's really one of the best, most consistently pleasing eateries in Ithaca. Plain and simple you're going to get dished out an amazing bowl of Ramen with generous portions. Their appetizers and buns are pretty great as well! I'm really glad I tried their bottled milk tea. I didn't think I would like it being it came in a bottle but it was a pleasant surprise! We had the Tantanmen and Tonkotsu Ramen this trip. The Tantanmen has a bit of peanut which somehow makes a sweet compliment to the spicy Tantan dashi in the broth. There's also ground pork but it seems more like pork sausage with herbs and spices of its own which add to the delight. I only had a few tastes of the Tonkatsu but the bone broth was fantastic. Certainly a good choice especially if you're not a fan of spicy dishes.

Come to Maru Ramen whether you live in Ithaca or if you're on your way to Finger Lakes. The place was buzzing with activity on Saturday afternoon but we were lucky to find a table for 4 without any wait. The food was top-notch - we tried the sushi rolls (shrimp tempura and veggie), the hirata buns (chicken and shiitake mushrooms), the ramen (Tantaramen and Veggie Shiitake), the Korean iced coffee, and a bottle of Ramune. Each of the dishes were really enjoyable and the Ramune and Iced coffee served as perfect complements to the meal. In addition, the service was extremely efficient. The place runs like clockwork! The.only thing that could have been improved was the Wasabi. It was extremely mild and lacked the kick that we're used to. Nonetheless, I'd love to be back if I'm in town :)

My family and friends enjoyed a long day of hiking around in Ithaca and arrived at Maru Ramen ready to eat a nice meal. We were visiting from out of town and had never been here before but we all loved the decor and vibe immediately! We ordered and our food arrived so quickly we really appreciated that after a day of hiking. The food was so good! We all enjoyed our meals. I highly recommend and we will be back again when we are in town!!

This is NOT your college dorm-room Ramen. Maru Ramen is a fresh, bright space that not only puts a modern flair on ramen but leaves you counting down until your next trip back. The Tonkatsu Ramen is a personal favorite of mine. The Beef Bulgogi is perfectly seasoned, and the dumplings are fantastic as well. HIGHLY Recommend!

The spicy seafood ramen was super delish, my siblings got the Tonkotsu and Bul-go-gi ramen. The vegetable tempura was also very good. Portions were generous and flavors blended nicely. Will definitely come again.

Lovely little restaurant with good service. Wasn’t sure if this place was japanese or Korean as they served both Japanese and Korean cuisine which was ramen and bibimbap. Not real authentic bibimbap ingredients, I guess due to inability to procure the ingredients, but alright none the less. They used purple rice for a healthier choice instead of the usual white rice. Not the best tonkatsu I’ve had but I must say that the Korean ice coffee was delicious.

E

This is a serious, hearty bowl of ramen. I got the hangover (spicy pork broth, tofu and chashu) with extra egg. It was loaded with chili oil/paste and had great flavor and great ingredients. Would definitely go there again. We also got one of each of there buns to taste test. I am a kimchi fan, so I would personally recommend that one. My wife got there appetizer chicken bites as her meal. I would recommend this as well.

Maru Ramen Ithaca is a popular ramen shop located in Ithaca, New York. They are known for their delicious and authentic Japanese ramen bowls made with rich broths, springy noodles, and a variety of toppings. They offer a range of flavors, from classic tonkotsu (pork bone) to spicy miso and rich shoyu (soy sauce).

H

Very good Ramen and Pho. I got the dumpling pho which was delicious and my husband got the ramen. Yummy!

A

This is a great place to get a quick bite. I was seated and served in 5 minutes flat. I knew what I wanted which certainly saved time. Food is already made up with homemade broth and noodles and pork so the only thing left is assembly which was quick. The half a soy sauce egg in my ramen was definite from the fridge, the middle was cold, but the texture was nice anyway. Broth was rich without being too fatty which is a plus and the noodles had a great bite to them. I got a bowl of pork ramen and a pork bun and both were excellent. They also give 5% off if you pay cash and take tap pay. I'll be coming here again if I'm in the area.

love this spot! came here for lunch with mom and everything was delicious. our waitress was super friendly too. ALSO - the food came out really fast. i went to the bathroom by the time i came back they were already serving us. highly recommend the sushi and the pork bao was awesome. will definitely be back 🙏

I've been to Maru Ramen multiple times, and every visit confirms just how consistently great it is. The broth always stands out — it has that deep, rich flavor that can only come from simmering bones for a long time. It's honestly more flavorful and intense than any other ramen place I've tried. The noodles are always fresh, and the toppings — especially the chashu and vegetables — are clearly high quality and super fresh as well. Although the restaurant is on the smaller side, it has a unique interior and a cozy, welcoming vibe that makes the dining experience even better. Definitely one of my favorite spots!

I enjoyed this little restaurant. Ordered the Tantanmen Ramen and it was fantastic. Noodles cooked nicely, the chasu and ground pork were yummy. I enjoyed the garnishes added to the soup to add a little fun. Broth was fantastic. Spicy with great flavor. I would most likely enjoy coming back here to try their other ramens.

Easily the most amazing ramen experience I've ever had. I had a bowl of Tonkotsu, which was a pork ramen. Clearly made with fresh homemade noodles, which worked perfectly with their robust and flavorful broth. Even the soft-boiled egg was well-seasoned. The price was a little high than I would've liked, but the dish itself was well worth it. It was also pretty on point for being in the downtown Ithaca area. Finally the staff was very friendly, as each and every person said thank you and bid us farewell was we left. Great experience, definitely will be returning.

Really enjoyed the Tonkotsu ramen. Generous portions of protein and meal, and delicious. Felt pretty authentic. The hangover ramen was good too, felt tad bit too much food color than spicy, but had good flavors. So far—best Ramen in Ithaca Ive had, so props for that. The wall decor was lovely too. Overall, enjoyed the food and experience, will come again.

Great ramen place. My daughters and I lived in Tokyo for a couple years and this is pretty damn good for us so take that as you will. We try to go up once every month or two because it’s such a nice warming experience and it doesn’t hurt that their wall art is Naruto ish!

I love Korean food. I’ve eaten at every Korean spot in Ithaca. This is not recency bias. Maru Korean on State Street is the best by far. I ordered the Tofu Beef Soup (soondubu), the Maru Katsu (their take on tonkatsu), and the Bulgogi. All three were dialed in. The tofu soup was rich, layered, and so comforting I briefly considered reorganizing my week around it. The Maru Katsu was shatter-crisp outside, tender inside — exactly what you hope for and rarely get. The bulgogi was beautifully marinated, balanced, and arrived sizzling like it had something to prove. What separates Maru is execution. The flavors are deeper. The ingredients taste fresher. Nothing feels phoned in. It’s the difference between “good for Ithaca” and just plain good. I’ve updated my internal Korean restaurant power rankings. Maru now sits alone at #1.

First time visit since the conversion from Maru Ramen to Maru Korea. Beautiful and clean interior. Quick and friendly service. After you order, you receive delectable banchan to munch on. The meal comes fast and the flavors were spot on. We will definitely be going back.

My boyfriend and I have gone here a couple times before and it was always delicious, however they have now rebranded to ‘Maru Korea’ and have an entirely new menu! I was a bit worried at first because i was a big fan of their Tonkotsu, but the meal i got was SO good! The service was super fast and friendly, the restaurant was clean (although it always is!) and the server even brought us two complimentary courses while we were waiting on our food. 10/10 highly recommend!!

I got the beef bulgogi combo with budae tofu stew (med spicy). I must say, Maru has the hands down best bulgogi I've had in Ithaca and probably NYC. The stew was nice and filling, although it's definitely quite spicy, not that I mind personally. I miss the ramen and the anime decor for sure, but I'll definitely go back for the food!

Had a wonderful experience with my partner and our son. The waiter warned us that the tofu ramen our 2 year old wanted might be a little spicy but our son loved it, and my tonkotsu and my partner's beef bulgogi ramen were both excellent. Will definitely be back when we're in the area!

If you’re in Ithaca and haven’t been to Maru Ramen, honestly… what are you doing?! I’ve been going since they first opened and it seems to be getting better each year! The ramen(my personal favorite) has broth that is always rich and flavorful without being overly salty, and the noodles are perfectly chewy. I've tried plenty of other items on their menu (like the purple rice roll pic) and everything is delicious. I also love the casual, relaxed vibe of the space, and the service is always friendly and quick. Overall, Maru Ramen really nails it on flavor, service, and consistency. Definitely worth checking out!

Maru Ramen is like a dream for Ramen lovers and Naruto fans! The walls are lined with new vibrant artwork from the popular anime: Naruto, connected with their amazing food. The Shoyu and Tantanmen had such rich and flavorful broths paired so well with the toppings and noodles!! The Katsudon and Tempura-don also melts in your mouth. The spicy bulgogi was everything and above! The tender meat with the savory bulgogi sauce was delicious. Everything was great whether your here for the anime or just incredible ramen , Maru Ramen delivers.

My husband & I ate here at the recommendation of a coworker. We had the Ramen with chicken, Spicy Seafood Ramen, Tempura shrimp, and Crab & Shrimp Sushi. The food was excellent. Just be aware Spicy means Spicy! You might want to go with lightly spiced your first time. They serve generous portions of fresh, delicious food. The waiter was very attentive. He noticed that I am "Chopstick Challenged" and brought me a fork. I didn't have to ask. When our water was getting low, he brought more without us asking. Small restaurant, but comfortable. Bring coins to put in the parking meters. We will definitely go back again. I told my friend about it. They tried it and loved it, too.

Had the veggie dumplings and shitake mushroom ramen. Overall good experience. Biggest feedback would be that using fresh mushrooms instead of dried would go a long way. Service was a little spotty too, but they were busy. Tasty noodles!

Saw the reviews for Maru and I was craving ramen so naturally we made the stop here. The Tonkatsu was great. Full of flavor with everything you can want in a ramen. The broth is where the money is and this broth delivered. It was full of porky goodness and not overly rich. My wife ordered the Tori which is the shredded chicken in chicken broth. Personally I’m not a fan chicken broth, it’s a little overpowering, but the wifey enjoyed it so I’m happy. The chicken buns were delicious as well. The owner was very friendly and was very apologetic because we had a reservation, but he was unable to seat us because there was a wait out the door. It’s pretty decent for a small town ramen place.

This place is a gem. Great ramen, much better than what Buffalo or Rochester has to offer, and almost on par with big city ramen. It would have gotten 5 stars if it were not for a few issues that could easily be changed. Their steamed pork buns have lettuce on them. That's just weird and turns a perfectly cooked pork belly bun into a big Mac. The beef dumplings also lacked flavor and one was on the cold side. (Hopefully a fluke) The waiter was alittle on the rude side, but he didnt do anything that totally ruined the expierence. Overall I definitely recommend this place. Great to have a nice bowl of nood's after a long day of hiking.

T
Tamiko Toland

This is a nice casual spot for homemade ramen. The decor is cute and is just short of cozy (a bit too open, but great lighting). It's so earnest that I want to love it and don't quite but I'm definitely in solid like. Noodles and broth are great, and it's nice (expected, in Ithaca) to have veggie/vegan options. The menu is not so easy to make out; it wasn't clear that the shrimp on one dish is tempura--I noticed on somebody else's bowl. The pork gets a lot of play on both the soup and in the buns. It makes the bun much less satisfying and it's not ideally suited to the task (doesn't fit well, cut a bit thick). When I asked for Japanese pepper, I got a little dish of black pepper instead of the standard red pepper mix. It's a ubiquitous ramen condiment and I enjoyed the food without it but that was a surprise given the overall authenticity. None of these flaws is fatal. I'm a sucker for good broth and noodles and I will be back even though it misses the mark on a few counts, and that certainly says something.

L
Logan Merrill

The new menu and rebrand is still good, but I will think about your shrimp tempura rolls and hirata buns for the rest of my life.. RIP :( Best of luck to you all in the new endeavor.

Bulgogi Pho was delicious, great portions and huge depth of flavor. Small place with lightning fast service. Only knock would be the almost fast food atmosphere, but the food more than offset this.

I recently visited Maru Ramen and tried two bowls of their ramen. Visually, the dishes were stunning—vibrant colors, perfectly cooked eggs, and fresh garnishes. The restaurant’s decor, featuring a fun nod to anime culture, added a cozy and unique atmosphere to the experience. However, when it comes to flavor, I found the ramen slightly too salty for my taste. The broth, while rich and flavorful, overpowered the balance that ramen is known for. The toppings, such as the tofu and vegetables, were fresh and well-prepared, but the overall saltiness made it difficult to fully enjoy the meal. Maru Ramen has so much potential with its aesthetic appeal and diverse menu, but a little less salt in the broth would truly elevate the experience. It’s a great spot to check out if you’re an anime fan or looking for a vibrant dining atmosphere. With a tweak in seasoning, it could easily become a must-visit ramen spot. Would I come back? Yes, but I’d ask for a lighter broth option next time.

Maru Ramen is a fusion Asian spot that blends Japanese and Vietnamese flavors. The vibe is nice, but for the price, I expected a bit more in terms of quality — though to be fair, the portions are solid. I tried the Tonkotsu Ramen, Shrimp Tempura Ramen, and the Shrimp Tempura Crab Roll. The flavors were okay, but the chashu was overcooked, which definitely took away from the experience. Service was fine — nothing bad, but nothing memorable either. Overall, not a bad place if you’re in the area and craving ramen.

The Spicy Seafood Ramen was on point! Love the Artwork, Fast Service!

Food was so much better when they were Maru Ramen. Food quality has gone downhill ever since they rebranded and removed the ramen dishes from their menu

Ramen here is subpar. There's so much msg in the Tonkotsu broth that I ended up drinking two bottles of water after I left. They also gave us the wrong order in the beginning. We started to eat and they came over and took our ramen away. Hopefully they threw them out and didn't just hand them over to the other customers...

I want to be kind, because this appears to be a family-owned small business and I'm not sure if there are many alternatives for ramen in Ithaca. Broth and toppings were good, which is itself an accomplishment. Service was quick and friendly despite them being *very* busy. However, a few technical notes were really hard to get past for me (luckily they are easily remedied and/or might have only been a problem tonight): First, the ajitama is very hardboiled (a minute or three overdone tbh) and doesn't seem to have been marinated long at all. Second, and far more importantly, the noodle texture was wrong in all our bowls (2 spicy seafood ramen, 1 tonkotsu, 1 shiyo, 1 vegetarian miso). The best description I have is being mushy/gummy on the bite (but appears fine visually & on outside), and my best guess for a cause (from personal mistakes & experimentation) is being cooked in overly hard (400+ ppm) or otherwise very concentrated water. This could be the result of a busy night and not enough time to refresh the water for noodle boiling? In any case the noodle texture issue got in the way of what would otherwise have been a very enjoyable bowl! Here's to hoping it was a one-off thing and if it wasn't, that this might help them fine-tune the noodle texture for the future.

The choco pie dessert is sorta misleading, it's just "matcha" ice cream with a store bought choco pie on top.

I’ve been to Maru Ramen twice now, once when it first opened and again today. Overall, I was quite underwhelmed both times. I gave it a second try because I thought they would be improved after a couple years of being in business. I ordered pork buns and the octopus salad to start, the followed with the spicy seafood ramen and my mother got the tonkotsu ramen. The pork buns were highly recommended on yelp, but the pork was cut extremely thin, and the sauce was just store bought hoisin sauce. Definitely not worth the $9 for two of them. Next, the octopus salad was decent, but definitely not as fresh as I thought it’d be. Still, not a bad appetizer. My spicy seafood ramen was flavorful, and definitely spicy. There were good flavors in the broth, and they did not skimp out on the seafood. There were mussels, shrimp, and what I believe were fish cakes. If you can’t handle a lot of spice, do not order this. The noodles were very delicious, and had a perfect chew and taste. The tonkotsu ramen was pretty good. The broth was very weak compared to what I’m used to eating at Konjiki Ramen in Toronto, but I know I shouldnt expect Michelin star flavor here. The noodles again were great, and the pork was good. The service was great, and the food arrived in a very timely manner. I don’t know if I would return but it was by no means a bad meal.

I seriously don’t understand the high rating. The service was good, but the food was disappointing. My ramen noodles were raw. The Chashu was the worst I have ever had! As you can see in the picture, it definitely wasn’t pork belly. It was as lean and dry as chicken breast. Egg was not marinated well or even at all. My husband ordered tantanmen and he said it was not bad. However, when he ordered extra noodles, they were raw too. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this place for ramen.

The ramen is interesting. The broth and noodles are nice. The toppings are off. First off I’m not sure about all the iceberg lettuce in it. Makes no sense. The chashu is very tough and dry. The place looks quite nice. And it’s conveniently located. I can see it being a popular place for hungry college students. But the food is really sub par.

So disappointed! This was hands down the best Ramen place I have ever had. Definitely the best ramen in Ithaca and now they no longer sell ramen. So sad. Hopefully they will bring some ramen options back. I didn’t order anything because I came for their ramen, however Next Time I go in I’ll have to try their new menu. Wonderful people and atmosphere.

All of the Naruto art work was removed, the menu redone, and the staff are new. I miss Maru ramen already, won’t be back with how expensive the menu is now and without the ramen. I’ve been going here since about 2018 and have recommended this restaurant to many people, all of them looking for that traditional ramen. Best of luck but very disappointed :(

Tonkatsu was decent, soup is not hot enough. They have pho but difference from ramen is the noodle. Lots of Naruto drawings… pretty cool.

Im kind of disappointed. 6 months ago, I came here and it was pretty good! Lots of meat and the presentation was amazing. I went for dinner today and was shocked. I ordered the same dish again and it looked completely different. Only two thin pieces of meet, half an egg, and some tofu. I have attached pictures of the dish 6 months ago vs. today. Sadly, I will not be coming back again.

Disappointing experience. Based on the photos and reviews I expect a bustling, modern restaurant with simple, yet tasty food. It was quite busy as we walked in for dinner, the waiter pointed us to a dirty table, we didn't feel welcome. After we studied the menu and started ordering, I was told that they don't serve sushi, "because it would take too long". Since I was willing to wait for good food, I asked how long it would take, only to be told they are not making any. The ramen, chicken and dumpling we got were mediocre at best. The waiter smacked our food on the table and never came back, nobody offered us a water refill, it didn't seem the staff cared.

I had the tonkotsu ramen. It was incredibly bland, and the meat tasted a little off. The fried pork dumplings were ok, as well as the edamame. The service was really poor, they need to make vast improvements. No check was presented. I had to go ask about it and they didn’t even give me one. They simply charged me for the meal.

I used to go there with my husband and my in-laws to enjoy a delicious ramen and sushi, they are my favorites... however, a few days ago I went with my husband looking for ramen and sushi but we realized that they changed the menu... the food was not as delicious as before, and the food my husband ordered was too spicy... I hope they return to the menu from before!

Was craving ramen on our trip and i had my hopes up due to the high reviews. The first warning was there when i opened the menu though with you seeing ramen, korean dish, pho, and bunch of other things listed. Generally when they try to do too much it means they dont have main dish they are really digging into. Good ramen spots would focus on just ramen and simple apps like gyoza. I orderd a tonkatsu ramen which is a staple. The broth was disappointing and didnt have the depth. It was overly salty and i think they were trying to make up for the lack of deep aged broth with condiments. Chashu porks were overly dry and the egg was overcooked. I ended up leaving aboug half the ramen. Hall was bit dirty and the one server seemed very overextended. I don't mean to be too harsh though, seemed popular enough with a lot of customers. The price was very cheap and budget friendly as well. Maybe i have been spoiled by Ichiran and other ramen spots in nyc.

This place isn't the same restaurant, they changed the name and the entire menu. All the ratings are for the previous ramen shop and do not reflect the current establishment.

The service and the food are both horrible. There are some sort of red things that seems to be lipstick chunk in the water they served me so I immediately told our server and she only said ok in a very light voice that I almost did not hear. She then waited there in a dead silence, which we have to guess that she wants to take the order. After taking the order she took my water away and got a new one but instead of giving the water to me, she took it with her and waited in front the kitchen until the food is ready. While waiting for the water and the ramen, I also found the same red chunks on my boyfriend friend's cup, so I used tissue to rub it off, shown in the picture. Since it is not inside the cup, and our experience with the server is already so bad we didn't even wanted led them know cause then I guess both of us will have nothing to drink before our food is ready. While we were eating the server never came to check on us and even when we told them we need the check we saw that our server and another server debating who is going to help us. So we even have to wait at the counter until they made their decision. Not just the service is bad, the food is also bad. The chashu is made of pork loin which made it so though and chewy, and the egg does not have any taste, unlike the usual tamago we got in mang other ramen that has a brownish color and more favor. The noodle and the soup are just ok. Does not recommend! Will not come again!

Been coming here for years, long time customer that has been here many times with my girlfriend. The service and food have always been exceptional, which is why it was so shocking to find a cockroach in my girlfriend’s miso ramen, the meal was not comped, I told them I was not paying for the miso ramen and then it was removed from the bill. Very sad, we loved this place and went there often and never had any problems.

Maru Korea used to be Maru Ramen, serving awesome ramen and rice bowls. THAN they "rebranded"....why? the food is now sub par and the ramen dishes is gone. The rice bowls is not good. I can make it better at home for the price they charged....$19.95. The rice bowls used to be like Buddha bowls but now with a fried egg, rice, blah meat, pickled radish? And a little broth. I left the restaurant leaving behind more than half of it uneaten. Usually leftovers come home with me, but this didn't....for obvious reasons.

I write to you today as not only a customer who was catfished by the numerous glowing reviews here but also as a customer who was disrespected and degraded at every single turn by my waiter at this establishment. Our waitress was the rudest individual that I’ve ever had the displeasure of encountering. And I’ve had my fair share of bad waiters. While we were ordering, she was trying to leave before we were done, essentially cutting us off by turning her back to us. She was clearly trying to leave our table and was sidling away from us as we were still ordering. It got to a point where she was speaking to us with her back directly turned away from us. This occurred every single time we tried to speak to her. I hope that we’re all aware that our eyes and mouths aren’t located on our backs. This was a level of disrespect that I’ve only experienced from my teenage son. She also didn’t give us things such as silverware and seemingly refused to refill our water. When she gave us silverware, she slammed it on the table and slid it towards each person. My friend was quite literally almost impaled by a knife. For the cherry on top, the food was lukewarm, flavorless, and overall uninspiring. To recap, my experience here included degradation, near-death experience, and some food that I wish I had never eaten. And we paid for that experience. Do yourself a favor and don’t come here.

This was genuinely the worst Korean food I’ve ever had - and I’ve tried Korean cuisine all over the world. It felt like the chef couldn’t decide what they were cooking: it started off vaguely Japanese, drifted into something like Vietnamese halfway through, and ended as a completely butchered version of Korean food. Everything was bland, poorly executed, and badly presented. Absolutely nothing justified the price. For context, a 99-cent bowl of instant noodles tastes more authentically Korean than what was served here. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone looking for an authentic Korean food.
