Got some tacos to go to take to an event, man were they good. Looking forward to coming back for a proper sit down meal.
We totally enjoyed the food and portions. Service was good. Went back two days in a roll. Went on a Monday and Tuesday around 2:00. Not busy at all.
My Wife and I made a quick overnight trip to the Jamestown area recently. The dinner here was the highlight of our trip. Excellent food and good service. The Staff seemed to be very sincere.
Friendly staff, smelled like Mexican food outside the entrance, excellent food.
This is a true family restaurant in a 100+ year old house on Main St in historic Jamestown. Their menu is fairly small, but the dishes are lovingly and authentically prepared with homemade salsas and sauces. Service is friendly, portions are generous and prices are low for the area. It's a great place to stop after visiting Railtown 1897, home of two restored, operating steam locomotives and the only original short line wooden roundhouse and machine shop still in regular use in North America. Update 4/28/2019 Ordered from the lunch menu this time and was even more impressed. My pork burrito was huge with big chunks of perfectly cooked pork and very little filler (i.e. refried beans and rice) and a tangy, citrus-like green sauce. My wife's machaca and eggs was fantastic, too, excellently seasoned and so big that she brought more than half of it home... and, remember, this was lunch! Less than $25 for two including drinks and service was quick and friendly, too! BTW, our friend had a shrimp tostada and I've never seen so many good sized shrimp - we counted over two dozen good sized, fresh crustaceans!
We couldn't ask for anything better. We felt at home. Food was delicious, from the rice and beans, to the mole enchiladas, sopes, unique chicken wings, and garlic soup. The service was like nowhere else! You come home have a drink, a meal, a great feeling and you're on your way! It is a must to visit Morelia Mexican Food Restaurant.
I am from Los Angeles and my favorite Mexican food place is about 9 hours away in James Town. Every time I visit Yosemite I have to drive to James Town to get my fill. The food is amazing, the hold Victorian house it is in is awesome and the service is superb. I love eating at family run businesses where everyone works hard and puts their soul into it.
This place never disappoints! Delicious every single time no matter what I order but my favorite are the chile rellenos! So go to d!
Best Mexican food in the area!
We went there for our very first time for dinner last night. Only had about a 10 min wait time. Once we sat down and ordered it literally only took around 5 mins to get our dinner. Pricing was very very reasonable as well. Also great customer service, very nice people. And mind you this place was extremely packed.
We love their homemade chips and salsa and the delicious creamy garlic soup! Our favorite meal is their shredded beef chimichangas. We love coming here!
I've never had bad service or bad food from Morelia. With the exception of one time where there was poor planning on waitresses should have had their A team waitresses instead of their D team waitresses. You always have your A team waitresses on holidays Mother's Day so on and so on
Food was awesome. Portions are large. My special enchilada easily made two meals. The margaritas are the best. The staff is friendly. Love it!!
Great, fresh food and service with a quaint atmosphere..All at an affordable price. It's well worth the drive to downtown Jamestown. We have travel over 40 miles or nearly an hour just enjoy the food.
Great food! Friendly service. Family owned, small town restaurant. Always busy on the weekends, so be prepared to wait to be seated. But worth the wait!
Oh holy smokes that was INCREDIBLE! I had the carne asada tacos and every bit of it was wonderful. Salsa and chips were yummy. I have not 1 complaint at all. Very sweet women helped us.
This hidden gem was a spontaneous stop for us during our travels, but one I’ll never forget! The food and service was second to none. I wish I could give more than 5 stars. Muchas Gracias!
We have been going to Morellia For 20+ years and when I lived here it was our go to staple...now that we moved every time I come home we have to make it to Morelia at least once. Food is reasonably priced, family run small business and best garlic soup and fajitas around. Cannot say enough positive things!
Great service and great food best tacos I've had in a long time iam from Oakland and this Mexican restaurant tastes better than the places I went to back home perfect super spicy salsa and great delicious Grilled carne asada. I think I found my new favorite Mexican restaurant.
This is one of our favorites! Great service and food. On hot days it's nice and cool. Extra bonus is that it's family owned and operated, which works just great for us.
I don't think I've had better salsa. I had enchiladas with green sauce and I would order it again. The women who helped us were nice. Definitely a great place to visit.
The food was great and the staff was very friendly. Didnt know what to expect when we went in cause we had never been there before but everything was awesome. Will definitely go here again if we're in the area.
We go here all the time. The garlic soup is to die for. All their dishes are delicious and the service is outstanding. Very homey atmosphere and friendly. We love to dine here. Recommend for everyone to try it out..u won't be disappointed.
Great little place. The food and the service is outstanding and the prices are very reasonable. Highly recommend.
By the far the best Mexican food you can get anywhere! There are many dishes that have been tailored to the American taste buds, but there a just as many traditional dishes on the menu. I could eat here everyday of the week and not get bored with the selection. The staff is friendly and courteous, and are more than happy to greet you with a smile at the door. They also have a great selection of beer, soft drinks, and the best margarita mix you could ever imagine. And the fried ice cream is worth the extra room in your stomach.
Great food. All fresh made in house, even the ketchup!!! Pleasantly surprised. My only real dislike was wheat flour tortilla chips mixed with corn chips in the pre-meal chips n salsa. Didn't expect it, didn't like the taste, and my son is allergic to wheat so a heads up would have been appreciated as it is uncommon (at least in my experiences). Aside from that, we'll certainly make another stop there the next time we drive through town.
My coworker really likes this place because it has a dish that's more commonly found in southern Mexico. I found the large steak burrito to be very well prepared. The portion was huge, and the flavor was good quality. I will probably eat here again.
First time at Morella. We live nearby and friends kept telling us we had to dine here. Years later we took the advice. Why did we wait so long? The food is fantastic (best mole enchiladas of all time), the wait staff are friendly and fast, the atmosphere is gold country perfection. Dang! Eat here!
One of the best Mexican restaurants I’ve ever been to. Very good margarita.
Amazing spot! The Carnitas was some of the best I've ever had, and the salsa verde was phenomenal! The service was excellent as well. You have to come here!!
Great service, great food! Margaritas hit the spot. One of the better mole sauces I have ever tried. The kid's meals are big and the kids were very happy with them!
One of my favorite places to eat, I live in lodi work in sonora and Tuesday through Friday we are in here with our crew. Maria the head waitress is absolutely the sweetest and best at what she does. The food is amazing! Highly recommend their enchiladas, super nachos and tacos ! Come check it out ! Remember Mondays are their closed day of the week . Enjoy !!
We haven’t had a salsa as tasty and on point. Chicken sopes and enchilada were great. Very attentive service . It will be our to go Mexican restaurant in Jamestown.
A local Jamestown staple. Excellent Mexican food at a price that can't be beat. Clean inside with friendly staff. Its located inside of one of the many historic buildings that make up Jamestown. Nice selection of food, and what's great is that they have an option that lets you pick two seperate items...so if you're in the mood for an enchilada AND a tamale, you can get one of each with your beans and rice. If you're in town and looking for a spot to eat, check them out.
Morelias is a small authentic wonderful piece of food paradise. The servings are always generous, fresh, and the taste is extraordinary. The carnitas is juicy and tender and I get the carnitas chimichanga without fail. My husband orders the nachos which are huge and easily two meals, half carne asada and half carnitas and so much flavor. The salad or soup appetizer is also beyond perfection with a ton of flavor and always hot! This is my top Mexican restaurant ever, after traveling throughout the Bay Area, Nevada, the valley nothing compares.
We went here for dinner twice. It is a very nice Mexican restaurant / take-out. Food quality is very good, and prices are surprisingly low. Drinks are basic, and are only $3 to $5. Portion sizes are quite large. We found that two appetizers and one entree was enough for two.
This place we accidentally found was a gem!!! The chips were both flour and corn tortilla fried...yummy and crispy. The salsa was good , yet mild. The bean dip was great. The green chicken enchiladas were so delicious.. The shrimp cocktail had plenty of shrimp for just $10.. And the chili rellano , although a little spicy as menu indicated, were so good...but most of all the food was fresh and made with love. The cooks brought it out since the place was so busy .... And it was the best service i have ever received from a restaurant as though we were the only table there!!! Refilled chips salsa and beverages without even having to ask!!! Yummy
Really amazing burritos!! I also love the service I've received here. I usually get my orders to go, and had an issue with my order at a few weeks ago and they went above and beyond to make it right. 😊 A hidden gem!
Jamestown is a ghost town on Mondays. NOTHING was open...except Morelia Mexican Restaurant. We have lots of Mexican cuisine in our home area so I wasn't sure this restaurant could compete. Boy was I wrong. The chicken mole enchiladas did not disappoint...so much so that I failed to get a photo. Mole if you aren't familiar, is a mildly chocolaty, thickened chili sauce. It's not an easy sauce to make correctly - this was amazing!! I don't even remember what the others had because I was so enamored by the dish in front of me! The family run business made you feel like part of the family as well. Service was prompt, informative and attentive!
Delicious I brought my family here because it's my favorite restaurant so yummy.
As I drove through Jamestown, I stopped here for lunch. Very good food. Seating is intimate in this small restaurant on Main Street. It is located across from the National Hotel which is currently closed. Great place to have a bite and enjoy a nice cold Beer.
Open on Sundays! ⭐ (Beautiful) Family business ⭐ Amazing food & LOTS to choose from. I can't wait to go back when I'm in the area! Love the flour tortilla chips mixed in w/the corn & the salsa was my favorite homemade kind (a little more cilantro, less tomato saucy) I had the chile rellano omelet that was excellent!
Beef taco is stuffed to the top with savory shredded beef. Shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, and shredded cheese spilled out on the plate. Beautiful plate. Amazing mild salsa served with a basketful of corn and flour tortillas. Great experience!
This is our go to Mexican place. I usually go for the Chimichanga, but have changed it up a few times. Had the chili Verde meal most recently and it was so good, the pork chunks were super tender, rice and beans are always good, plus you get two kinds of chips with salsa, and your choice of soup. Get the garlic, but the tortilla is good too. The margaritas are good, beers are cold. Just a great place
Went there for dinner. Asked if they had Hevous Rancheros. It's on their breakfast menu yet they made it for me anyhow. It's my favorite meal and odd as it sounds, hard to find a good one. I asked for no rice and added bacon. Was the best I've had literally in 40 years. Looking forward to having it again. Service was great
My go to when out with friends who want great food and loads of laughs in a family friendly environment. Weather it's a date night or you are slightly dirty from a hike, dinner or lunch are always the best here. Fried ice cream is so good we often order it before food.
I was so hungry that I forgot to take pictures! Had a Shrimp Cocktail which was awesome and it was packed with shrimp. My beautiful wife had a Shredded Chicken Taco Salad and she said she would be back for another. For being such a hot day, the temperature in the restaurant was really cool and staff was very kind and attentive. I would recommend this place any day for lunch or dinner.
Our local favorite Mexican food! Always tastes great and great service! Our family has been going here for 15 years or more and never been dissatisfied. Prices are very fair and large portions
After eating here yesterday as well as today, I decided this restaurant was worth 5 stars for excellent service, quality and quantity of food for the price and nice atmosphere in a cute gold rush town. We were seated quickly, drinks were refilled without asking and the servers were friendly. I asked the waitress and it’s the same chef/family who cooked at ‘The Smoke’ Mexican Cafe across the street many years ago. This is now a family owned restaurant and the grandma (80 years now) was still in back making tamales. 😁. The food is not overtly spicy so ask for hot sauce if you like. The mole sauce was nice, a hint of chocolate, sweet and mildly spicy. The garlic soup was excellent and the tortilla soup was nice, a beef broth with cheese and lots of tortilla strips. The chicken tamales were a mix of fresh dark and light shredded meat as were the pork tamales. The chile rillenos were great with a rich tomato sauce. Absolutely everything was fresh and so hot when it arrIved at the table we had to wait to eat it! The beans and rice were fresh and hot as well, you can always tell. They had people walking in and out constantly for takeout so it’s obviously popular! This is not expensive, fancy food, it’s excellent home style Mexican cooking for an excellent price.
Fresh delicious authentic Mexican cuisine, chile verde and pastor were DELICIOUS, fresh housemaid TEQUILA margaritas, friendly and speedy service, clean, quaintly decorated dining room and kitchen (open to dining area). A must stop if you are visiting Jamestown!
First time here and our family really enjoyed it. The food was delicious and quite a bit of food for the price, nice cozy atmosphere, super sweet waitress that served us with a genuine smile. I look forward to going back. 😊
Great food great service. Everything is fantastic.
The food was absolutely amazing! The service was fantastic until a couple came in and then a party of 12. We sat there for about 15 minutes waiting for our to go boxes. They were very attentive until they got busy. Don’t get me wrong they were, running around and doing very well considering that circumstances. It was a little pricey $85 for two of us however we did have beef chimichangas, big portions, a margarita each and shrimp quesadilla appetizer. The margarita I wish was in a traditional margarita glass it was not it was in glass cup with a lime and a straw no salt. The building reminded me an old Victorian home, maybe mid century, which was a great experience. There was not really any parking so we called the restaurant as we were approaching and they let us park in the back. We will be returning and we did give a $20 tip. I wish they would serve traditional margaritas. It might make a more authentic experience overall other than that and the to go boxes it was great!
Food is always amazing and service to match it.
The food is amazing and authentic Their nachos are great. They have 2 types of nachos flowered nachos and corn nachos of which I liked flowered nachos. We had a soft shelled taco was scrumptious.
Staff is always great. Food is great. Never disappointed
Everything was amazing 👏🤩. Clean, fresh, fast, friendly, and delicious. I will definitely return for another meal!!
I am usually so much better at capturing our meals however we were starving and here on lunch from work so I only snapped one photo. Morelia is one of the best and most authentic Mexican kitchens in the area. I usually get the taquitos, but decided to change it up. I got the carnitas super burrito which comes with a side of rice and beans. This was delicious and huge I was able to take half back to the office for lunch the next day. They always start us off with a mixed basket of chips, one of the only places that offers both flour and corn tortilla chips, and a bowl of house made salsa. We ordered some guacamole as well. Delicious as always. My friend got the enchilada plate also very delicious. The staff is always so friendly and welcoming. No matter when you come in they treat you like family. The restaurant is small and family owned and it feels like you are going into their home with the love and care they put into their food. Its a simple decor restaurant but the food is the state. Their garlic soup is killer.
We wanted dinner before heading into Yosemite for a few days so stopped by. In short, this was some of the best food and service I’ve had in years. We ordered the tamales and carnitas dinner. The salad had homemade ranch and both soups were excellent. The rice and beans were also very good. The tamales were not dry and had just enough spice. The carnitas were phenomenal. We ended up having so much food that we have enough for a second dinner tomorrow. I cannot say enough good things about the food. Our waiters were very attentive and went above and beyond. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. 6/5 stars.
We found this place when we were looking for something to eat during our roundtrip. After reading the reviews we wanted to check it out ourself, and it did not disappoint. The staff was super attentive and the selection of foods and was very extensive. I've ordered the mole and it was really great. When in the area this is the place to check out when you are into Mexican food.
I don't give 5 stars💫, but Morelia's is an exceptional Restaurant. Food is always wonderful and authentic. Service is friendly and they check imperfectly to make sure everything is still good. I wish the restaurant could be cloned in my hometown. Plus thebestchips ever, they serve them WARM!
We were the first customers. We got chips and salsa. Ordered burritos and margaritas. The portion size was Huge! And it was really tasty. Friendly staff. I recommend this place.
Great food and wonderful service
The service was great, food tasted amazing. Didn't have to wait long for our food either! Reasonably priced for lunch! Definitely will go back for more!
Stopped here for dinner with my dad on 9/25/23. The restaurant is in a charming old house and decorated with the typical Mexican restaurant items. The staff were all very friendly and attentive. I ordered the Pollo De Crema and the server said it’s one of his favorites, like a Mexican alfredo. Let me say it did not disappoint! First the salad had the freshest and most crisp lettuce I’ve ever had at a restaurant before (IYKYK). The server asked if I wanted a bit of spice added to my dish and I said absolutely! It was delicious with a bit of a kick. My dad had the wet chicken burrito with red sauce and it was definitely not small. Chips and salsa is always a must. The staff were excellent, our drinks were never empty and if we even had the thought of needing something one of the servers was right there asking if we’re good! I’ll definitely be coming back next time I’m in Jamestown.
We ordered 2 x al pastor taco, 1 x chimichangga and 1 chicken salad plus 4 sodas. It was filling and tasty.
Very authentic & flavourful food. Everyone's plate looked amazing.
Mole was tasty only wish chicken had been seasoned also, salsa very tasty and prices reasonable
The garlic soup here was amazing. The beef burrito was pretty good as well. Prices were reasonable too
Oh my goodness, you guysssss! We stopped in within an hour of this place closing....the highway was stopped, and we were hungry...so we ventured into "town" and stumbled across this awesome little Mexican food place. It was so good. Great service. We have some green sauce enchiladas...so good. The rice was soft. The beans were great. The chips....oh, that is what excited me the most - they serve BOTH corn and flour chips with their yummy salsa. The service was excellent. So quick. The food was hot. We will definitely be back!

Stopped here on our way home after being recommended to us from the staff at Mia’s Pizza. Our Takeaway from this entire weekend was how this community supports each other! We enjoyed the huevos rancheros with chorizo. Perfect Brunch! Delicious food, friendly service, charming little town. 10/10!
Delicious food (I had the chimichanga), great chips and salsa - the chips are a mix of corn or flour tortilla and I'm a sucker for the flour chips, so light and fluffy. Good salsa. Good size portions for everyone, couldn't finish our plates. Very friendly staff and quick service.
Loved this little place, great food, large menu, including kids selection and brilliant service. Best mexican I've had in ages
This is probably the best Mexican food I’ve ever had. Big portions, great people and decent pricing. Highly recommend!!

I was pleasantly surprised by Morelia. It's reasonably priced classic Mexican. After driving through all the terrible food options between San Jose and Oakdale, Jamestown was an oasis of good options. The enchiladas were delicious. And their chips were surprisingly good. Would definitely go back.
My husband loved his enchiladas dinner. I had two tacos dinner. Our food was hot, (a plus) but lacked flavor...at least for my dinner. The salsa (from complimentary chips and salsa) was what appeared to be enchilada sauce...also very bland.
5 stars is too much, but 4 is misleadingly inadequate. Much enjoyed experience in a small, remodeled residence on historic, mainstreet Jamestown. Good cooks adding that certain touch of superior tasteable quality that most Mexican restaurants vainly strive for. Both visits have rated consistently equal. We are gladened that they have returned after Covid forced closure. Truly an asset for this town.
Nice little restaurant on the main street of Jamestown. Friendly and helpful staff. Generous portions. Chips and salsa could be improved, like several of the restaurants locally, but everything else was good.
I have been coming here for over 22 years. The food is great, my favorite used to be the garlic soup but it has changed in the last 4 months and not for the better. Please bring back the better garlic soup.
A small burrito, was almost the size of a chihuahua. Tastes great, but no way I could finish the whole thing. It was a special not on the menu, but on the flyer on the front door. The food was awesome!
Nice restaurant, very nice staff. Food was good and fast. Walked in for a to go order. Maybe 10 minutes and out the door. Offered us a table to wait and drinks while waiting. We will go back for a nice sit down evening!
Nice downtown location. Friendly staff. Both corn and flour tortilla chips for your salsa appetizer. Very large portions with an option of soup or salad before your meal which is unique for a mexican restaurant. Very filling. Enjoy!
We have a lot of Mexican restaurants in the area but my family and I always go to Morelia. The food is always good and consistent. They also have the best mango margaritas that I have had in the area. The only complaint I have is they use iceberg lettuce for their salads. Other than that, it is really good food.
Does quaint little cottage in Jamestown serves absolutely delicious Mexican food that is only overshadowed by their cramped configuration, and they're slow but very charismatic and warm service. For people who want a more intimate dining experience I recommend it. I do go out of my way though to get their garlic soup winter day.
First time eating at this Mexican restaurant had a very nostalgic atmosphere, I loved it. Ordered several plates of tacos and tamales. Food was delicious except the tamales were extremely dry.
Food is good. Atmosphere is ok. Pretty typical Mexican cuisine, again the food was pretty good but I feel you could change the name to that of another mom n pop Mexican restaurant keeping the same menu and not many would know the difference. I would eat there again. Staff is always nice.
Cool little joint, pleasant and attentive staff, average food.
One of very few places open Wednesday evening & looked to have most customers of all options. I got the carnitas plate [photo] of which the neat was quite good plus rice & beans good too. But the salsa & chips were not great. Yet the service by all staff was very good. Just not quite 4 stars for me & I do not issue 5 very often.

New to the area 3rd try of the place. Looking for my #1 in the area. Always the same. The flour tortilla chips are the star of this place. Salsa not to good. Rice and beans need some flavor and salt. Sorry to say everything is really lacking in flavor. Onward to find my Mexican food go to restaurant in my new hometown.
The food was bland and spice less, I was not impressed. Service was amazing but sadly it didn't makeup for the food.
personally, meat was too soft and a bunch of juice was coming out. others meat was really dry and not enough sauce and all was bland (no strong flavors) the cheese wasn't melted all the way and had a funky aftertaste. other than those it was ok, but not coming back anytime soon 😬
