So good. I know of no other place near here with Cantonese BBQ, especially duck. I primarily only get the duck but I have had the honey walnut shrimp and the green beans and have never been disappointed. I use to have to drive to Irvine to get some duck but now that Sam Woo has closed this I the only place. I would argue it is better than Sam Woo was when they were still in business. So happy this place opened so close to me.
Best roast duck in orange county! Thin crispy skin, good flavor and the meat is not too fatty which is perfect. I'm from Hong Kong and this reminded me of home. Can't wait to try the other roast meats. I've only done take out but the staff were very friendly and the place was clean .
Tried this place for the first time and it did not disappoint. The bbq duck and the pork were really good and full of flavor. Even the rice was tasty. Great to have a new option for authentic chinese food around.
Finally a good authentic Cantonese style bbq place in South OC! I used to drive to Westminster or Irvine but now Franks will be my go to. I've visited three times and each time has been great and consistent. I primarily came to try the roast duck but there are so many great options all around! If you're not into duck I would highly recommend the soy sauce chicken-so juicy and pretty light flavor so you won't feel to full or heavy after eating it. They have a pretty big menu with options for meal boxes (great for quick lunch), signature bbq: roasted duck and chicken, rice bowls, combo sets, and other chefs specials: honey walnut shrimp, sweet & sour pork, etc. You can enjoy a sit down meal here or take to go which I have done both. Service is quick and staff is friendly. I wasn't sure exactly what to order and they took the time to explain how the combos worked and what items they recommended. I'll definitely be back!
Good selection of Chinese food, you can see everything before ordering. Convenient and right next to Bank of America
The food here is so good and authentic!, I always Order their honey bbq pork and orange chicken and it never disappoints!
Very flavorful, kids loved the duck wings and salt and pepper shrimp. Huge fans of their mapu tofu and ribs.
Great food and great customer service. Ying greeted me with a smile and was very friendly and also made sure I got a good deal on the food
Franks BBQ is hands down one of the best Cantonese BBQ spots I’ve ever had in LA! Everything from the roast duck to the char siu and crispy pork belly is cooked to perfection. The roast duck is especially impressive the skin is perfectly crispy, while the meat stays juicy and tender, never dry. The char siu is flavorful with just the right balance of sweetness and smokiness, and the crispy pork belly has that satisfying crunch with a melt-in-your-mouth center. Portions are generous and the prices are super reasonable. You can really taste the craftsmanship and authenticity in every bite. I always end up taking some home because it’s just that good. If you’re a fan of Chinese BBQ, Franks BBQ is a must-try!
The meat is so tender and tasty! The BBQ pork is not dry at all. Soy sauce chicken is also very tender! Delicious!
really good Cantonese BBQ place, the duck and pork are so good. also has some American Chinese food can serve all kind of customer.
This is a great place. You can order delivery through DoorDash. Very nice.
Very good quality food. It’s traditional Cantonese food. Best in this area.
This place is nice and clean. The food is goof
We ordered the roast duck and a few stir-fried dishes, and everything was delicious. The roast duck had crispy, flavorful skin, and the stir-fried dishes were well-seasoned to suit the local taste. The restaurant was also clean and comfortable, which made the dining experience even better. Overall, a great place to enjoy authentic flavors with good quality and a nice environment.
Had the char siu honey bbq pork with rice and was blown away. Absolutely tender and savory with sweetness throughout. Even spent ten minutes with the owner. Just lovely people, huge portions, great value, and a delicious flavor. Will come back many, many times. You want this pork!
This spot got some tasty Chinese food. Not only do they have classics Chinese take-out, but also Cantonese BBQ! Along with a meal plate, I also got the 3 item combo set of the roasted duck, honey BBQ pork, and soy sauce chicken. Everything was fresh, juicy, and so flavorful! I am personally a fan of roasted duck, so this place made me really happy with each bite! Definitely want to come here again.
What the duck!? This is one of the best duck I’ve had! Came here with my sister and noticed there were tables and chairs there to dine in since most bbq places are Togo only. Pretty spacious and very clean! It was so nice to dine in eating Chinese bbq because it would always be takeout Back to the duck! The skin was very crispy and meat was so soft ! I usually only eat 1-2 pieces when I eat duck but couldn’t stop eating this. You can even hear the crunch of the crispy skin too when you bite into it! Juicy and moist ! The soy sauce chicken was very flavorful! The express meal boxes were great! Came with a few items with chow mein and fried rice! Very filling!!! Love the variety they have! We had to buy some duck and chicken Togo for my parents and they loved it too! I’m definitely coming back again!

Great place to get roast duck. I missed out in duck in Hong Kong, we had been in Bali for 2 weeks and was having Bali Belly, so no rich food. Glad to come here and have roast duck and all the patrons were Chinese. I will be back, I want to try the roast pork next. Perfect grub before spending some money at Harbor Freight
We visited Frank's BBQ right after going to a Chinese restaurant nearby that didn't meet our expectations. Frank's superceded them!! The Honey BBQ Pork was hands down one of the most delicious things I've ever eaten! The homemade chili oil was warming, had a nice kick and went very well with the Mapo Tofu which was yummy too. The owner and her chefs were inviting, informative and downright sweet! Gonna grab more Honey BBQ Pork and Roast Duck for the trip home. Highly recommend Frank's BBQ and Chinese Cuisine! Affordable, delicious and honors those who served.
Been looking for a good fast food Chinese place for a few years now. Finally found this place. If your Asian, the BBQ pork is incredible, it's so full of fat 🤤. Delicious, chefs kiss.

We're on a quest to source peking or roasted duck for our Thanksgiving dinner. We did a search for nearby restaurant that could cater and Frank's was the first place we stopped into. Price was reasonable and they had a variety of dishes that would complement the meat selections. If you happen to arrive at opening, expect to wait at least 20 minutes to cook up a fresh batch of roasted duck/pork/chicken. We decided to get a decent spread that included all those things: - Triple Rice Bowl with Honey BBQ Pork, Peking Duck and Soy Sauce Chicken - Fried Green Beans - Honey Walnut Shrimp I think we were both surprised by the paper plates we were given, but the portions were pretty generous. The triple meats were piled on top of rice and steamed cabbage. Rice does come with a la carte items and they gave us a plate full. We had so much rice! Both the green beans and shrimp are things we would order again. The meats were a bit too oily for my preference and I thought the way they had chopped the chicken/duck had shard of bone mixed with the meat. Every now and then, I would bite down on a piece of bone, which was annoying. Hubs was unbothered. He didn't care for the chicken or pork, but he did enjoy the duck. It was flavorful and complemented the duck sauce. Overall, a good option for duck. I'm interested in the roasted pork option, but I think it's only available a la carte. Will be back again!
Simple place but friendly service and very good food with good sized portions, bar b que pork was delicious, fried rice was also good and a lot of it😁👌
My father wanted to try their roasted duck so we gave the place a try. Their roasted duck was decent and I did enjoy their hot and sour soup. Pork ribs were okay, but the noodles we didn't care for. Since I live in Singapore, this felt a bit pricy, but we enjoyed 3 out of 4 which is pretty good. The atmosphere is average. I'd come back and try more.
Lake Forest's culinary landscape has been graced with a true treasure — Frank's BBQ & Chinese Cuisine. For those in search of authentic Chinese-style BBQ, look no further. This establishment stands out not for its steam table selections, which one might initially gravitate towards in a typical Chinese restaurant, but for its exceptional BBQ offerings. The BBQ Duck, Chicken, and Pork are the stars of the show here. Each dish is masterfully prepared, boasting flavors and textures that can only come from traditional cooking methods honed over generations. The Duck is succulent and rich, its skin perfectly crisped to a delightful finish. The Chicken is tender and juicy, infused with a subtle blend of spices that sings of authenticity. As for the Pork, it's a revelation — beautifully glazed, with just the right balance of sweetness and smokiness, it's a dish that beckons for repeated visits. I find myself drawn back to Frank's BBQ & Chinese Cuisine as often as possible. It's a testament to the quality of their food and the unique niche they fill in the local dining scene. For anyone tired of the usual fare and looking for something genuinely special, this is the place. While the steam table options are available and provide a comforting familiarity, I urge you to dive into their BBQ selections. It's here that Frank's truly shines, offering a culinary experience that's not only delicious but also imbued with the rich, aromatic essence of Chinese BBQ tradition. In conclusion, Frank's BBQ & Chinese Cuisine is a must-visit for both aficionados and newcomers to Chinese BBQ. Its standout dishes elevate the casual dining experience to something truly memorable, making it a shining beacon for those in pursuit of culinary excellence in Lake Forest.
We passed by this restaurant and ordered 2 plates of 2 entrees & 1 side. Honestly it’s not fair to compare to food in Asia, but it’s good enough to quench our crave for good quality Chinese food. We have orange chicken + stir fried chili pepper with pork, side fried rice, the other plate is Kung Pau chicken + steamed mushroom with pork ribs, side fried rice. The stir fried chili pepper pork is the best, 2nd is orange chicken. They are a bit greasy, but once for awhile it’s ok. We will come back in the future, but cannot be a routine with the greasy recipe.
This restaurant serves some of the best BBQ pork and roast duck around, but it doesn’t quite live up to Sam Woo. The food is pricey, and the portions are small, especially when it comes to the amount of meat you get. The service is okay, but the dining area isn’t great, especially considering what you’re paying. The ceiling fans are so strong they can make your napkins fly away. While there are some good points, like certain dishes, the overall experience could be better.
I've visited this place a few times during their soft opening and unfortunately, maybe because it was a soft opening, the wait was a bit long. However, their service was great but not too efficient. That being said, their BBQ rice bowl and roast duck were absolutely delicious! I also really enjoyed their chow mein, Mongolian beef, and stir-fried green beans. However, I wasn't a fan of the walnut shrimps because the crust was a bit too hard for my taste. Overall, despite the wait, it was a great experience and I can't wait to go back for more!

I always believe taste of food is a personal preference matter. Nonetheless, lunch I had here this afternoon is unfortunately on the sweet side, both shrimps and beef. Rice is not cooked thoroughly.
First time ordering here. The food was delicious however the service was slow, only 2 people working there, ( I waited 30 minutes for my togo order), and they ran out of things I was going to order. I ordered roasted duck and soy sauce chicken, but was told the soy sauce chicken was gone before getting to my order. So we ended up with : Two item combo set- Roasted duck and bbq pork rib - Prefer the duck for sure! Good flavor, portions are smaller than I expected for the price. It could be a one off, so I’ll come back to try a second time for the soy sauce chicken next time.
The bbq used to be my favorite in this area, however the quality has not been consistent. Ordered the bbq combination recently, and the pork is very fatty and almost not edible.

This is a really cheap Chinese food place. The food is edible but I won't be back. The service is really bad. Not rude, they just don't care and barely speak English. Once you order don't be fooled, they aren't cooking your meal. They already did long ago, they are just putting it on a plate and heating it up in the microwave. Then don't even try to hide it. The microwave is right there behind the counter. They also don't pay for air conditioning so it gets hot and stuffy inside.
We tried to order online during the holidays but the link did not work so we called in and was scold by the worker. I had my son drive there and put an order instead. The wait was around 45 minutes. From ordering to getting the food. ' We like the bbq meat here but might have to go to other places from now on. It is much easier to put in an order at other Chinese bbq in Irvine than here. I wish they can make it more convenience to place order. I don't recommend it if you don't have the time to wait. BBQ meat usually takes sometimes to prepare.
We ordered half a chicken and half a roasted duck plus green beans, Expensive fast food experience, total over $60 for two people. Chicken and duck were all small portions and a lot of bones. Taste no special, if you any other Cantonese restaurants, taste better and a larger portion, service better and price is way cheaper. So I don't know why other people rate so high
The portion of the food is just too small for its price. We bought one set of roasted pork for 9.99. It has less than 9 pieces. The taste is also basic. Would not recommend.
UPDATE: poor service I am changing my review because lady on the phone at 11:39am on 10/18/25 hung up my call in the middle of taking my order. No, I was not disrespectful in any way shape and form. My suspicion is that she did not like that I was asking questions about the menu. I hope the call is recorded so the manager/owner can take a look. The lady is either poorly trained or completely disrespectful of a loyal customer. I have taken my business elsewhere and will not be returning. Please re-train your staff so you don’t lose any more loyal customer for such preventable reason. Old review: My favorite Chinese food in lake forest!

Char Siu (叉燒): El icónico cerdo asado a la barbacoa.
Siu Yuk (燒肉): El cerdo asado crujiente.
