Wonderful time this year, we had the same fun waitress all three times we ate at the restaurant. The menu changed from the previous years and was still very good.

Quinn and dave did a great job with the food and drinks. The pulled pork was delectable. Will definitely be coming back soon

Drinks were strong which is a good thing. The food was alright but there are no other restaurants up there to choose from so it's the best around.

This is a resort and restaurant and bar. The cabins are rustic and the snow is great. The bar is always fun although I have only been here in winter. Great burgers and fries, steaks with all the fixings.

Linda was an amazing bartender! The service was amazing and the food was just as good. We were having a bad day and Linda’s personality brightened all our moods!

Aside from this being one of the few places on Huntington Lake to get groceries, good cold beer, and a very solid lunch or dinner, they are also incredibly helpful and kind. My wife and I had our wedding on the lake this summer, and got held up on a hike in the back country the day before the wedding. When the florist showed up to drop off all the flowers for the wedding, we were not there to receive them. Fortunately, the florsit knew what we didn't know...that the staff at Lakeshore are amazing and without a question were happy to store our flowers in their cooler OVERNIGHT while we found our way back from an over-ambitious hike. Thanks guys for saving the day!

After what was a rough vacation at Shaver Lake, the Lakeshore resort put us back on track to an amazing Holiday. Michelle who handled our last minute booking went above and beyond for my family and our doggies! Great prices. Awesom cabins be that they are simple. All was clean , dishes and bedding ect, which was way better than the AirBNB I paid for at Shaver lake. We absolutely will be back to the Huntington Lake and this resort. Thanks Michelle and ALL the wonderful people who work there. Bonus was the dance and good food!

Awesome place, good old fashioned experience! Quaint, beautiful, awesome staff! We can't wait to go back, the cabins are all different! So many choices at low cost!

I have not stayed in the cabins at Lakeshore but I frequent the restaurant and the bar and they are both very good. The bar has really strong drinks, friendly locals and there's usually something crazy happening.

Ok a little info. This is a 100+ year old resort. They are refurbishing the resort. The new cabins are clean and comfortable. The owner Lev went out of his way to book us a room. Restaurant "saloon" was amazing. Food was great and service was top notched. Beautiful lake and Forest is making a comeback back from a fire. Please check this place out.

Had a great Bloody Mary at the saloon. Defintiley a little slice of Americana. Place was hopping on holiday weekend. Was the only POC present but vibe was good.

Nice, rustic, mountain feel place with descent food. The big perk of this place isnt necessarily the food its the feeling and unwind you get here. In the winter, the centrally located wood stove is stoked to keep everyone toasty and relaxed. The happy hour menu is usually pretty good. Prices are a little high but thats common in further, more remote restaurants

Phenomenal, great local vibes. The bar is extremely cozy and welcoming. The cabin was more than adequate with nice heating, the bed however did leave more to be desired uncomfortable and loud.

Huntington Lake it's so far the most beautiful lake around, no half emptied like most, whatever the reasons...On front of it, this cozy place, they sell the best NY steak Sandwich I ever..The lady at the bar (I think she was the owner) was understaffed that afternoon but she was so nice and kind..it was impressive to see her taking care of everyone. Don't know how bad it gets in winter time to get there but if you want an amazing NY Steak Samdwich.....

We came up Superbowl Sunday and the kitchen was closed but they opened it for us. They even had a veggie burger that was not too bad. Friendly, family people working and nice warm fireplace. It was a pretty good visit for a Sunday drive to the mountains. Loved the rustic atmosphere. We were actually seated in the saloon. The sign made me laugh!

The Lakeshore Saloon is being reviewed here. It's been around forever, well at least for my entire 35 years on the planet, and during that time it's been a staple establishment upon which others are judged. The food, ok, the drinks, common, but what it doesn't have in specialty beverages and fare it more than makes up for in atmosphere, history, and warmth! In the summer the place can get busy I've been told, however it's always a nice to have a cold one after hunting some points. Or, in the winter after a day on China Peak, the old stove will warm your frozen bones. The staff are all locals that have stories for days. The interior recently went through a freshening but thankfully much of the old feel remains. Give it a try, you will not be disappointed! Free wifi as well!

Wonderful! Great experience! Restaurants include a fine dining restaurant, open Friday & Saturday 5-8, excellent food, live music, inside or outdoor seating around a fireplace and awesome views of the lake. Short order restaurant is open every day & serves breakfast, lunch, dinner. Menu has good variety & includes vegetarian options, adult beverages. Garden burger was best I’ve had. Enjoyed veggie omelette. Food brought to your table. Staff and manager George are friendly & go out of their way for you. Can also rent canoes, kayaks, small row/motor boats at reasonable prices — canoe 1/2 day $40.00

The Saloon is a hidden gem, in my opinion. The good is very good, fast friendly service and a nice atmosphere. It was a great place to stop for a bite and a beer after a day at the lake. They even had live music!

My boyfriend and I visited the restaurant during a sailing regatta event last weekend--the race director's held a dinner for all participants at the restaurant. The dinner was buffet style just for our event and the spread was Mexican with lots of meat options, tortillas, rice, etc.. Seeing as I am a vegetarian, I didnt have many options. This is all to say that when I asked a server for some veggies, he redirected me to Peter, the chef and new owner of the restaurant. Peter was the most gracious host to me, my boyfriend, and our 11 year old dog (who we sat with outside of the dining commons). Peter not only specially made me a PERFECT southwestern salad, he also brought our dog cooked sirloin for him to munch on. Peter was a pleasure to chat with and even though he was literally running around making sure everything was in order and everyone was happy, he took the time to chat with us and make sure we were accommodated. I have never had this much attention at any dining experience--we were blown away. Thank you, Peter, for being such a great host and best of luck taking over the new restaurant. You will do SO well. Cheers and see you next time we are up there!

Perfect lunch stop! Right next to the water and food was great. Cashier was so friendly, great customer service! Just got engaged the day before and when he found out, he opted to do a mini photoshoot for us. Going to make this place a yearly tradition.

Cool place to grab a beer or glass of wine, outdoor seating with kind of a view but mostly just accessible. I'll get another beer next time I'm at Huntington.

So far it's great. We just arrived about two hours ago, it's 10:35 and the cabin is more than I imagined for been built in the 1929's. It's got everything one needs when arriving later and the prices is, well, ok. Can't wait to see the place in the morning.

The wooden buildings are perfectly suited for the forest environment and add to the relaxing atmosphere. The Lakeshore Resort Dining Hall makes a great location for a wedding reception. The restaurant food is good and the staff were friendly and accommodating. However, the snack bar food preparation is slow and is average. The nearby Huntington Lake is very pretty and much less busy than similar lakes such as Donner Lake in Truckee.

Good food in a charming lodge prepared and served by wonderfully kind, welcoming, and well-informed people at prices that aren’t backbreaking? Lakeshore Resort has all of the above. As long as they have enough staff on hand, there isn’t much to complain about, but please be patient and understanding if they’re shorthanded; it isn’t always easy to find and retain staff when you’re that far out there! And for Pete’s sake DO NOT complain about pricing. Ever. YOU know how arduous that trip is...now imagine having to do that regularly with heavy truckloads that you have to load and unload at multiple locations so that people can live, work, and eat what many take for granted as easy to get, all while getting cut off and ignored and tailgated and sworn at by rude drivers in their comfortable vehicles: wouldn’t YOU charge a premium to do that? THAT’S why local businesses (including the gas station and other stores, resorts, eateries, and facilities in the area) charge what they do: they have to in order to pay their costs AND have enough left over to pay themselves and their staff members who are there to SERVE YOU, not be yelled at or belittled by you because they couldn’t carry all your drinks in one go or make you some fluffy cocktail you had last time you were at home closer to sea level that requires some organic root, flower, or tuber extract that costs more than your meal. In other words, go there for the good, honest food and great vibe and experience what they and the environment have to offer — it’s all worth the trip to leave everything, including any highfalutin’ expectations of what “good service” is: isn’t that why you wanted to get away from home for anyway?!?

Great staff, and very helpful. Rentals were reasonably priced, but weren't available hourly. Their store had a huge selection, but was pricey as expected. Overall, I would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful Sierras lake and only negative is all the smoke from the recent Yosemite and smaller fires which makes it even harder to breathe at 7,000 altitude. Still amazingly Beautiful

Great food. The server was very attentive. The street corn was delicious, the New York steak sandwich with chimichurri was slightly chewy but great flavor. The fries were crispy. Pleasant surprise and highly recommend.

The service here is reasonable and the prices are a bit high. Prices are not unfair for a "resort" in the mountains, but the quality of the restaurants is aggressively average. I wouldn't recommend it necessarily, but I go here when I'm in the area.

Seeing how I arrived after dark i didn't get to see much of the area . They road there is to be taken with caution .Lots of sharp turns and then road itself is narrow .

In our cabin the fridge was broken so badly we couldn't store our food in it. The fridge wasn't the only thing broken. The handle on the cooking pan they provided was loose and the plastic spatula was severely burnt plastic. The floors were dirty, especially in the storage room under the stairs. They provided a closet to hang clothes but only 3 coat hangers and we were supposed to buy the rest at the general store. The food there was terrible. I had the worst fruit smoothie of my life- it was literally just milk, frozen strawberries and ice. Their burgers were bad too, they were so cheaply made they aren't even 100%beef having filler in them furthermore we ordered 1/3 lb burgers and they gave us 1/4lb patties instead. This place is really poorly managed and could be made so much better with just a little effort. However the price was good and the property is beautiful. For those interested the lodge has 2 pokestops and a gym you can reach from the restaurant. I had a great time here and would come again if there weren't competitors around to offer anything better.

Nice enough bar inside, pretty standard small mountain town watering hole. I was told I had to walk next door to order dinner - where I was told they were closed (this is 7 pm on a Saturday) and was treated like an idiot because I didn't know the nearest restaurant was 25 miles away. Went back to the bar to close my tab, where during my 30 minute wait for my card the bartender served 5 other customers and took 3 different food orders next door. Not a great Memorial Day weekend. I have no idea why we were treated like this other than that we were dressed differently than the locals. If you're not from here, don't eat or drink here since they clearly don't want us.

I stayed in cabin E-1 for two nights at $120/night + taxes. A motel 6 would have been much better quality! The floor wasn't level. It had ugly linoleum from the 1970's in the kitchenette and the bathroom and blue carpet everywhere else. The beds were bowed in the middle, I didn't feel comfortable sleeping in the bed, I slept on-top of the bed. The shower had this brown/rust color coating the walls. Some of it washed off when I ran the water. The toilet had stains in it. No TV. Would have been ok at $50/night, but not if you have a wife with you. The general store, restaurant and saloon were nice.

Nobody was wearing a mask inside the saloon, the restaurant or the store. Little to no adherence to public safety. No hand sanitizer, no effort to act according to the state guidelines.

S
Samuel Ridosko (sjrmac)

That is being generous, look somewhere else to stay. Dirty cabin, sketchy heater, and just a unsanitary environment. If you decide to stay in this dump, the 4 person cabins are way better. Kitchen for an extra $20 can be skipped as it is so FILTHY you would not touch it!! Don't stay here, overpriced for for a crappy place to stay! Make sure to get shots from a doctor before you go here as you'll probably die from some type of disease!

P

My wife and I stopped because we saw people sitting outside with food and drinks. They were being served as we walked up. We went inside to order and were somewhat rudely told they were not serving food again for about 2 hours. We ordered a draft beer and a fountain coke for $9. Won't do that again.

J
Jason Walsh

Service was poor and extremely slow. The waiter didn't know the difference between draft and bottled beer, didn't even know what beers they had, and when he finally brought a hand written list he didn't have half of the beers I found by going to the actual bar. Also waiter didn't know if they have a veggie burger, suggested a BLT for my gf who can't have meat, and it took him 20+ min to find out if they had a veggie burger. They don't.... Admittedly it was his first day but no one else in the place acts like they care either. Bar tender in the saloon was also slow and rude, ignored us, and took forever to even get one round of beers. In the end when our food finally came, it took over an hour for 4 sandwiches, it was not that bad however I will never go back to this place because of how bad the service was and how rudely we were treated.

Stayed in Cabin C-5 which was tiny, dirty, and infested with spiders. I killed about 6 wolf or wood spiders (much larger than a quarter) in our room before going to bed. My wife, our newborn child and I had to sleep in our vehicle that first night, with no refund or discount. Instead they sent us to Cabin C-10 for the second night which was slightly larger, but when I sat down on the couch and swung my arm over to rest on the top of the couch, my hand landed in a thick web which was inhabited by another huge spider. To top it off, this cabin didn’t have any towels at all. Needless to say, we went home that night instead of staying and still received no discount for our troubles. Extremely unprofessional and inhumane living conditions to be charging $180 a night for.

N

Went on a Sunday. 2:00pm wanted to eat. Restaurant was closed. Bar was open. Dirty tables and no service. Left. Lots of people there. Place has seriously gone down hill. Too bad. Could be much better. Sad, beautiful lake.

R

Stayed in D1 at $150/night. First signs were dirty dishes combined with filthy carpet and uneven/broken floor. 5 massive spiders in 2 days. Reluctant service for additional TP and very pricy food.

Has dinner this last weekend there, the waitress tried to put us on a little round table that was only about 18 inches for dinner we refused to sit there. We ordered and it took an hour to get our main dish after we received our salad. We both had ribs they were tough, the Mac and cheese was fine vegetables was questionable. We also got charged the regular price and not the special price for that night. Don’t think we will be back and we are up there at least twice a month.

K
Ken Strickland

Food was okay but over priced. 3 people had breakfast for $85.00. I feel if they would of told us it was going to take 1.5 hours for are food we would of been ready for a wait or would have went to a different place. I th8nk the problem is they only have 1 cook and it take time to cook food for 10 to 15 people. But the food was okay. Not worth the wait. And pricey. But for it's location I feel that's just the way it is. Hard to get fast quality food so far up in the mountains. I would ho back if I had the time to wait. But I feel you will definitely get better food and service in shaver.

J
Joe (Traveler)

Cabin was disgusting. Smelt funny, dirty,. Has not been updated cleaned in years. Space heater had exposed wires. Dark an dingy. Only hot water no cold. Scolding hot shower. Can not even clean filth off. Proceed at own risk. Bar was nice. Kept me out of room.

While the staff was friendly during the few minutes I spoke with them, the campground itself is not run very well. There are groups of dogs running loose around the campground, which we found climbing on our campsite picnic table while we were grilling out. People in the campground were super loud, and smoking weed to a point where I had to close up my camper so we didnt get high, but you cannot ever get ahold of anyone to get them to come out and quiet the place down. Definitely do not recommend this place to anyone.

L

I read the reviews and thought, "how could it be that bad?" and booked...well, it CAN be that bad! The worst shower I've ever encountered and the carpet was so gross we didn't take our shoes off to walk on it! Lighting was so dim you couldn't apply even basic makeup, dresser was broken and crooked, no light in closet (yes, only three hangers). Didn't even sit on the bed without turning down the spread and blanket...I think it would have been scary to have a black light to shine on them, but hopefully the sheets had been laundered. Pay a little extra and try VRBO...I will next time...the lake was really wonderful!
