Good food, always consistent and fast service.
We were driving through headed to Austin and I saw this place. I looked it up. Loved the story behind it. We ordered burgers, fries, and shakes. Everything was great.
It is a busy place but found parking. Outstanding food and service like always. Try to stop in for some good food every time I am in the area. Would recommend to anyone.
Quick service and the lady who delivered our food was happy and cheerful. My husband and I both got the sourdough burger. We drive through a few times a month and it's always our pick. Perfectly made patty and sweet bun. Perfection.
Always great. Other drive ins like this, the imitations, are sub sub par compared to Storms. Nice friendly people and GOOD FOOD!!
Holy smokes! Delicious burgers and fries- the lime squeeze is taaaasty! Professional, friendly staff and great service 👍 👌 this place is the real deal! Way to go Storm's 👏 will 💯 stop back again when cruising through!
We like to stop at Storm's Drive-In when traveling to see our granddaughter in college. We were a group of 7 and it is nice they have larger tables for larger groups. The burgers are large! Guests order from the outdoor pavilion, and the orders are delivered there.
Stopped on a long trip from Dimebox to Midland. Got Storm burgers 🍔 and man it's way better than Sonic. Got the Patty melt and Fried Okra! Great job Storm drive-thru👏🏾. Sorry I didn't take any pics. I ate too fast! So good 👍🏾
Consistently good burgers. I always get the Sourdough Burger— my favorite!
Unique & Great burgers! Make your way if you want!
Drive past all the fast food chains and eat here!! It’s like stepping back into the 50s. The food is so good! Not just burgers and fries, but fried okra, catfish and pickles. Eat in your car or at the dozens of covered tables. Nice clean restrooms. Loved eating at a hometown place . Will eat here again during our next visit!
I had their bacon cheeseburger with onion rings, and I am craving them as I write this. So delicious, chard grilled burger with the fixing. The bacon was generous and cooked to crispy perfection. Everything else was phenomenal too.
This place is legit old school drive-in. Good food and still pretty cheap!
Great malts, shakes and burgers in the area. A longstanding tradition in Lampasas. Local Legend says Elvis ate here during his Louisiana Hayride days.
I've come here a handful of times and every time it has been delicious! Crazy that I completely forgot to leave a five-star review because the food was that amazing! However, it can be pricey when you get a specialty burger around $10, then still have to buy fries and a drink. Also, the ranch isn't great, I love some "good ranch". Regardless, 5 stars and I will definitely be coming back even though it's a bit of a drive. Lastly, I highly recommend the sourdough burger!!
Love to stop here for lunch on our way to the deer lease and the food is always great along with the customer service. Today our vehicle was hit in the parking lot and the driver fled. The employees were so helpful and kind with reviewing footage speaking with police. I can’t thank all of you enough.
New experience for me. Its was a good burger and I had the onion rings. Must have milk shake too..... Who needs a fast food place when we have Storm's Drive In 👍
75 years and still going. Great burger and awesome fresh fries. Looking forward to going again.
What a perfect TEXAS burger. So nostalgic. It is the same no matter when you come. We take the drive from Austin to come here. Everything is perfect. The fries, onion rings and tots are amazing. You have to come here!
My go to place for the best burgers in the area since I was a kid in school. Good memories there.
I no longer live in the area so everytime I drive by I have to stop. The food never disappoints, always, hot, fresh, fries are delicious as well just so yummy 😋
Let it be when you're in the 6th grade let it be when you are a high school student wanting to be the popular kid to have a job here or 10 years after graduating high school and you come back to alarm passes after moving away this is the place to go and be at the food is amazing the service is amazing and you just feel so invited while you were here
10/10: The food was good, the service was friendly and patient (we have a big family). Oh, and they have the BEST Big Red ever! Lol.
Elvis Presley knew a good burger when he came here for them all those years ago! We came here because we had to try it, as Elvis fans, but we have been back there two more times within a week. We are new here to lampasas and we really liked the food. Super happy we can order local delivery too! And we can get beef patties for our dog!
I had a cheeseburger and fries. The burger was amazing. Absolutely great. The service was very fast. Very surprised. It seemed like I took one bite and the burger was gone. That's how good it was.
Super quick ordering & delivery of meal. Stopped here on our way home from a girls trip to Fredericksburg! Ate out in picnic tables.
Best drive in, in Texas, the cordon blue burger is to die for, the Storm's Special is delicious and huge you will not go away hungry. They still make the old-fashioned cherry cokes and Dr. Peppers with cherry juice are not the premade from the company. They hand cut the French fries, not the frozen ones, and will cook them anyway you like them. If you want a burger in Lampasas Storm's is the place to go.
I had heard the rumors about this little burger place and had to try it out. I am happy to say that everything I heard was true. The burgers are delicious, the onion rings are awesome and the service is quick and efficient. When you see a place as busy as this was I always think it's a good thing. If you're in the area swing by for a really great burger.
This is my new favorite burger spot! They have it all! I'd chose this over even P Terry or Black Meg!
The service is so fast and food delicious. Great competent staff always delivering food with smile. Try to stop in on my way back from Austin.
First time here, it was the best establishment I have been to in a while. The employees were busy yet caring getting food out in handfuls. I got the Storm's special, which has three patties, veggies and an option of double cheese for 9.99. It came out HOT the burger did not disappoint, it was the best burger I have had by far. I will definitely be coming back here!
Fantastic burgers, onion rings, and root beer floats 😋 Ok, atmosphere. Well, you eat in your car. Looks like there is some outdoor seating. Nothing inside the building but the kitchen. Service was surprisingly quick and very friendly. I say surprisingly because the place was absolutely packed Friday afternoon. I circled the block 4 times before finally being able to park and order. This was my first time here. I was about to leave, gave it one last pass, and got lucky. Glad I did, excellent food.
We drive 150 out of our way to eat at storms from our trip from Tuscon Arizona to Wisconsin. Well worth it!!!!!
It has been a long time since I've been here and I am so happy to say that nothing has changed!!! It was so good, good enough to rank higher than Whataburger in my book!!! For me that says a whole world of things!!! Luckily, my family and I are buying a house near by and we will be able to enjoy it more often. I got the Storm's special: triple meat, double cheese, and everything but Mayo (how a burger is suppose to be). The patties be are thin and cooked perfectly, so dang good!! I also enjoyed half an order of pickle chips and they were really good (not soggy like other peoples). They were nice and crispy and the pickle chips were cut thick. Very delicious and definitely will be back!!
Authentic carhop experience. I used to live in TX and I bragged about Storms to my husband. He is now in love with them!
In my opinion, this is one of the Best Burgers in Texas. When I am in town visiting family, in Lampasas, I look forward to getting the Storms Special. I wish they would open a Storms in Austin. I bet there would be lines around the block. The toasty bun and the crispy hamburger meat makes this so delicious.
I love storms burgers!! I moved farther away and haven't been there for awhile. Today it hit the spot. The service is always very good and done with a smile.
All you want with a drive in diner. Fresh and made to order. Many ways to customize your fresh Texas beef burger. The malts were spot on. Perfect for a hot day driving thru the country. I can never pass up trying fried pickles. These have a little kick to them. What a delightful surprise to the normal dill. You even get a little history with your visit. This place is a must when driving through Lampasas!
This our 1st time eating here and it did not disappoint at all. Service good, food was good. The outdoor seating was awesome really enjoyed it.
$2.69 for some crumbs with a side of pieces of someones lettuce. My last visit I said I wouldn't be back. Also asked for easy ice on my $3 drink, whole cup filled with it and to boot not even the soda type I asked for. Burger cold and appeared to have been probably sitting out. Its a shame to see what used to be a great burger joint go down the can.
Love the sourdough burger!!! Fries are fresh cut. Seating area is outdoors and nice with a breeze. Was crowded when we went on a Sunday afternoon but food was worth the wait.
Old drive up/sonic like ordering style. Took our order and it came out about 7/10 min later. We had a double meat sourdough bun burger and it was amazing! I love a good smash burger from an old grill and that's what this was. Everything I wanted, fried were good too, thick, could use more alt but they give you little packets so that worked! Kids got the chicken tenders And fries and they were huge in size but also a hit with my picky eater toddler! It was busy but didn't seem to affect service. Excellent and can't wait to stop there again on our way out to town.
Our local car-hop burger joint, one town over from us. We come here often and almost exclusively get the burgers, fries, and a soft drink. Be prepared to grab the first open stall you see if you're parking and eating in your car, often times there are very few spots open (you pass a spot looking for a better one, you might find yourself eating on the patio). The service is great as well as the service, read the Storm's story when you visit or Google the same before you do.
Great food, great service! Food tastes fresh and well made! Great classic place to experience! A definitely must see and experience!
I absolutely love seeing Nattie Joy Martin at Storms, she truly makes every visit better. From the moment you walk in, she brings such a warm, genuine energy that makes everyone feel welcome and taken care of. She has this natural kindness and positivity that brightens the whole atmosphere, and you can tell she genuinely cares about the people she’s serving. What stands out most is how incredibly hardworking she is. No matter how busy things get, Nattie stays focused, calm, and efficient, making sure everything runs smoothly while still taking the time to be friendly and attentive. She balances speed and quality so well, and it’s clear she takes pride in doing her job right. Even during the rush, she never lets the stress show, instead, she keeps a smile on her face and continues to treat everyone with patience and respect. Beyond her strong work ethic, Nattie brings such a positive spirit to Storms. She creates an environment that feels welcoming and upbeat, and it’s obvious she’s a big part of what makes the place so enjoyable. It’s rare to find someone who works this hard while also making people feel so valued and appreciated. Storms is lucky to have her, and customers like me definitely notice the difference she makes. Nattie Joy Martin is not only an amazing worker but also a genuinely wonderful person who leaves a lasting impression every time.
Passing through I stumbled onto this gem with a lot of history behind it. Great drive in burger and fries. Onion rings are masterful. Just wished I lived in the area so I could try more of their menu.
Great experience at Storm's! The food was delicious and service was excellent. Really enjoyed the classic drive-in atmosphere. Definitely recommend stopping by if you're in Lampasas!
My first time visiting Storm's was GREAT! I had passed by the restaurant many times before but stopped this time since I was more than ready for some lunch and was not in a hurry to get home. The grilled chicken sandwich was fresh and the onion rings crispy and tasty. A must stop for sure, the next time I am in the area. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Been coming to Storms since I was 13. It's nostalgic and wonderful. Way better "fast" food than any chain. Staff is always kind and very rarely have they made mistakes on any orders. Highly recommend stopping by this awesome Lampasas business!
If you're craving a classic American burger experience, Storm's Drive-In absolutely delivers! Their cheeseburgers are everything you'd hope for—juicy, perfectly seasoned, and served on a toasted bun that holds up from first bite to last. The melted cheese is generous, and every topping tastes fresh and thoughtfully prepared. But what really sets Storm's apart is the service. The staff is friendly, fast, and always make you feel welcome. Whether you're dining in, taking out, or going through the drive-thru, the team keeps things moving without ever making you feel rushed.
GREAT experience and the food is delicious (we got the burgers, fries, and milkshakes)! My Mom said it reminded her of the burgers and drive-ins from the 60's that she dearly loved. Reading the menu, it turns out that they are still preparing the food the way they did back in day when Elvis himself used to stop and eat there, so it makes sense that Mom recognized the familiar taste she remembered from her teenage years! I've also recommended Storm's to others since my visits, and so far, everyone is totally satisfied and happy I recommended it to them! Do yourself a favor and get there and enjoy them today, you won't be sorry!
Must stop if you’re driving through to get a bite and stretch the legs. We’ve stopped here several times over the years. Great smash like burgers! Get at least a double. Well seasoned, nice crust on the meat, toasted buns. The way it should be. Meat is ground fresh there. Tater tots, fries, and curly fries are about as good as they can get. Very neat history!
This place my husband has been talking about we needed to try it. Well today was the day. We were in the area and stopped and got some food burgers! Curly fries and a root beer float! Everything was delicious! Its a drive up setting and why not eat in your car. Prices are reasonable as well. Go see for yourself!
My wife and I stopped in here on a Sunday for lunch. We ate as we stayed in the car at the drive-in portion of the restaurant... There is a sit-down picnic area as well. See pic. We ordered hamburgers and fries with a drink. The staff were keeping busy but service was acceptably prompt, and things are very reasonably priced. I had the Storms Special burger without cheese, which includes fries. My wife had a burger and spicy curly fries. We split a coke. My burger was delicious, quite large, with fresh condiments and served hot. My French fries were yummy, too. My wife's burger was tasty and so were the spicy curly fries. Total before tip was $17 and change. There is a restroom provided. Overall, we enjoyed the experience of an old fashioned drive in meal at reasonable prices, and recommend it. Lots of sweet treats like root beer floats etc. etc..are available for your indulgence if you're inclined.
Stopped here because of the reviews and it did not disappoint!! Runs very much like a Sonic in the ordering process. I ordered the Storm’s special with cheese and it was incredible! One of the best burgers I’ve had in a long time! Fries were crispy and delicious as well. They give you these little napkins secured with a rubber band and inside are two salt packets. I didn’t need them because everything was delicious just as, but I thought it was cool. When driving through the area, I would most definitely eat here again!
A Texas must! Absolutely delicious food and great service! I see why elvis loved it so much. This particular location has nice outdoor seating either in the shade or a picnic table close by in the grass so the kids can run around, or stay in your car for an easier experience. Love the burgers and fries, definitely recommend to anyone visiting the area.
Affordable and unique foods delivered to your car or outside dining area under shelter. Drive through order methods.. nice shade break on a road trip. Several picnic tables around for a group stop..
It was a good burger. The fries are good too. Natural cut but fried in a way they are actually crispy and good. Personally I like the Hamilton location fries better. I’ll be back next time I’m passing through. The storms special is a hard deal to beat.
Great old fashioned hamburgers! Service is fast and friendly when they are busy!!
First time. Passing through traveling. Friendly fast and accommodating. I got the sourdough burger meat was tasty thick good char, bun could've been better. Fries had a nice flavor deep fried nicely. In response to your wanting me to explain about the bun. Probably more of a personal thing. When I think of sourdough buns especially for burgers I see a bread type bun thats grilled to a toast type consistency. Your bun got soggy and started falling apart. NOTE it wasn't falling bad etc.. I could still eat it okay, but I think sourdough is more fine of a bun. So grilling it to a toast consistency makes it hold up better and I prefer that taste. I will be back when I travel that way.
I love this place, it was previously owned by my cousins, and founded. The food is good but pretty pricey, it has out door seating and car pull in spots like a sonic. I really recommend going here when passing through town!
Their ice cream machine was down…. Otherwise it would be 5 stars. Always go there when I’m in town.
Visiting for Christmas and haven't had an awesome Storms burger in ages so we stopped in and the dingle berry taking the order made it 5 times harder than it needed to be and screwed up the order so I guess I'll wait another 5 years to have a good Storms burger....
Food is always good but the severs are rude. The dude that took our order was nasty and seemed irritated that people were even at a restaurant. Shaaaaaaame
Stopped for food coming through lampasas, this place had great reviews so I thought I'd try it. I was either very unlucky or its just overrated. Drive around looking 15 minutes for somewhere to pull in. Find a spot, press the button and wait another 15 minutes for a kid to yell "what do you want" "ok" through a speaker. The girl in training that brought me my order was nice, but the manager directly behind her wouldn't stop talking long enough about what she was doing wrong for her to get a word out. The burger was a puck of overcooked low quality meat with the classic lettuce, tomato, etc. The fries were burnt. The root beer float wasn't bad. If you want a nice place to eat THIS IS NOT IT. If you want a tourist attraction that's full of yelling this i the place for you.
Great food. Just watch out they are quick to click the 15% tip
This was a nostalgic stop for us as we ate here when we were teenagers. We had hamburgers and sweet potato fries. The sweet potato fries were excellent, but the hamburgers were so thin, you really didn't taste the meat. The good thing that didn't change is the fact that the buns are toasted, just enough for a slight crunch, yum! It did take over 15 minutes to receive our order for 2 people, the girl was nice, but geeze it was slow service.
We’ve always been very pleased with Storms burgers. Yesterday my husband and I were not. Was there around 1. Ordered hamburgers. It was made as we ordered. The problem was the meat. WAY overcooked and the thickness of a leather shoe sole and about 3” in diameter. I had a 5-6” bun with 3” diameter of overcooked meat. Soo disappointed. Should have sent it back but too hungry.
Super over rated place. Hear alot about it and the history it has. But food wasn't very good. Like it's hard to mess up a hamburger but some how they found the way to do so. Hamburger was so over cooked could have played hockey with it. Bacon was super dry. Got spicy curls which had zero spice and little to no flavor. Service was good and quick atmosphere is alright if you like going back in time I guess. But eventually you gotta get with the times.
The cashier wasnt friendly at all. The food was not really edible sadly. The coleslaw was good but the rest tasted like it was cooked hours ago and sat under the heat lamp. The catfish tastes like pure marsh dirt. I know times are tough but seriously 30 bucks for food I had to feed my dogs because it wasn't edible sadly.
I’ve been going to storms. For 35 years and I’ve never had this bad of an experience before. Ordered double meat with cheese and curly fries. Asked for no onions and ranch. Got my order… it was a single meat patty no cheese and onions. Plus they forgot the ranch. The order was so messed up the manager actually can out to my vehicle to see the receipt. Yeah it was confirmed it was completely wrong. She brought me out a new burger…(still had onions on it) I just left… I was done… didn’t offer a free dessert or float. I was very disappointed.
I often get Storms breakfast at the Burnet location and it’s always so good. This morning I decided to stop in Lampasas and unfortunately not the same. The egg was so over cooked I thought it was a hash brown. Tasted terrible 😭 the lady bringing my food was super nice though so I appreciate her
3.00 drinks, no refill. Way to greasy, all the other locations are good, but the Lampasas one is aweful.
We stopped by this place for dinner after a day of hiking at the nearby state park. My experience was horrible. Employees are confused. If you prefer a Storm's special they will automatically assume you ordered the no cheese version even though they showed the special with cheese in the picture. Our fries were cold and gross. They insisted on taking the fries back to the kitchen which we have already handled. Which to me seems pretty disgusting, if not a possible health code violation. Burgers weren't even good. Patties were thin and dry. I do not recommend this place. You are better off going somewhere else. Employees don't care if you do.
Ordered two storm special and a sourdough burger from car hop. Recieved our food and was missing the sour dough burger with they promptly brought out. We get to the house to eat and found the sour dough burger buns and meat burnt and not just a little. Also the two storms burgers were nasty as he'll. This was my first time to visit storms in lampasas and will be my last. I always go to storms in burnet and it is by far a much better place.
Burgers served lukewarm and were not made fresh. Could count onions on hot dog which was also lukewarm. French fries were not fresh. Ordered large for $3 and received small. Brought a friend and was telling her how great the place was. We both threw everything away after a few bites. Tipped the waitress $2.50 on a $12.25 order. Didn't even get a thank you. Will never go back!! Horrible quality. In response to the owners answer, thank you for your note, but all the items we ordered were sub-par. I understand having a “bad day” as you indicated, but on every item? We were the only ones on that side of the restaurant therefore the “chef” had plenty of time to prepare from scratch. Instead, we sensed we received leftovers. A shame, too, as I used to drive from Austin just to get a Storms burger. Been stopping for over twenty years but no longer. Thanks again. Bg
We went here because there was a huge crowd, however, everything was really not good! Surprisingly. We tried maybe seven items and they were all bad. I don’t understand how you could make something so simple so bad. Burnt pie, tasteless milkshake, French fries were ok, curly fry bad, onion ring very bad, burger bad, chicken tender bad. Twilight zone how so many people came to bad food. Still mystified. Service wasn’t that great. It took forever and the server was kind of not so good. This is going to make going on a diet very easy. I can just think about this place and I won’t wanna eat anymore.
