The Silo is highly praised for its beautiful waterfront views and delicious food at reasonable prices. The Haystack sandwich is a standout favorite, and the service is consistently rated as excellent. The ice cream served from a train caboose is also a highlight.

Everything was absolutely perfect! The view was stunning, the atmosphere was fun and welcoming, and the service was top notch. Daphne was so friendly and helpful at the ice cream counter — she made the whole experience even better. 10/10 would recommend stopping here for a treat and taking in the scenery. Can’t wait to come back!
I went for the first time this year this past Saturday for lunch and ice cream. The haystack sandwich was great and you cannot beat the atmosphere looking out at the river. I then stopped for an ice cream which really hit the spot. The service was excellent - especially at the caboose. My server (Emma) was very patient as I bought cream for a few kids who helped me with chores that were too difficult for me to do. They kept changing their minds and she got the order perfect! She even corrected me as I got confused and over paid! If you have never gone it's definitely worth it!
Haystack was awesome. Chicken tenders were super generous portions and actually tender. The setting is beautiful overseeing the river. Great ice cream stand too.
Recently came up with my girlfriend. Havent been here in forever! Food and scenery were amazing. Brittany took care of us and she was an absolute delight!!! She made it 5 stars!
Silo is the perfect summer location to eat as well as relax. You can sit right at the picnic tables overlooking the water or enjoy swings or chairs under trees in the grass. The menu is huge and full of burgers, hot dogs, fish, sausage, chicken choices, & the HAYSTACK!! Salads too! We got the nicest server, Ayva Teal at the caboose getting ice cream. She served us with a smile on the hottest day even with the longest line for dessert treats. Go to Silo this summer!
My husband and I stopped by The Silo in Lewiston for ice cream, and we had such a great experience! We were warmly welcomed and helped by Sophia, who was incredibly kind, helpful, and patient. She made us feel right at home and made excellent recommendations. We loved the fun atmosphere and beautiful location too. It's a charming spot that really adds to the local vibe. We will definitely be back and will be telling our friends and family to visit. Thanks again Sophia, for making our visit extra special!
I went and got ice cream. Emma, the girl who served me, was super helpful and gave recommendations on what her personal favorites were there. The atmosphere and the ice cream was unbelievable. I would highly recommend stopping by if you are in the area
Came there to get ice cream and it was very good! It was a bit busy but the employees were quick and very nice. I think the girl who helped me was named Aubrey? Aubri? She was so sweet and was very knowledgeable. I then decided to go over to the food side and grab a hot dog and it was delicious! Love this place! 🌭🍦
My mom and I come here a lot during the summer. It’s so nice to be right by the water! And the food is very good! They have a standard hamburger/hot dog menu and also serve a few different veggie burgers, which I love. My mom often gets their Fish Fry and enjoys it. Their sweet potato fries are delicious! Always our favorite item. So crispy and sweet. Definitely get them! There’s lots of tables/seating. Great spot to relax outside a while.
Generous portions, great view, friendly staff! Couldn’t be happier with my experience dining at the silo restaurant. I had the Silo Chicken sandwich with fries and it was delicious! For dessert, I had the silo sandock challenge. Almost a gallon of ice cream! The cashier at the ice cream stand, I believe her name was Victoria, was so sweet and made the sundae with all the toppings I wanted. Don’t miss out on a delicious meal this at the silo this summer!
Went to silo while in vacation with friends thanks to their recommendation and wasn't disappointed! The view of the sunset from the unique curved picnic table style seating overlooking the water was great. I had the haystack which was shaved ribeye steak with cheese and crispy potato sticks overflowing a fresh hoagie bun. Perhaps i was just hungry but it was incredible! It melted in my mouth with a mix of textures in a juicy chorus of flavors that just called for another bite.
Nice staff, easy to order and then wait for the buzzer to sound. Salmon burger was perfectly done, not dry as some places do. There was no condiment on it and it would have been nice to be told that so I could have ordered it or put on at the condiment bar. BEAUTIFUL VIEWS from MANY MANY SEATS. A wonderful summer place to have dinner!!!
Love this place. If you're looking for the absolutely crispiest fries you've ever had, friggin go here. And the haystack is awesome. I get it every time I go. And I learned something new today - the kids meals come with ice cream?! 10/10 the only downside is that it is seasonal. Also I took a picture of the sunset.
I was in the area visiting after many years and The Silo was recommended by some friends. I had the Beef on Weck and it was amazing. For dessert I had some of the best ice cream I ever had. Even more amazing was the Service our waitress Brittany provided. She was so friendly and very attentive. I can’t wait until my next visit to make The Silo my first stop.
Came here later at night and was so cool walking into Silo as a restaurant . My wife and I shared a large haystack sandwich , which was phenomenal! Our daughter has a cheeseburger and fries and said the same.! Also there's a Perry's ice cream stand there which we had at different place and that also was phenomenal. A double treat together! 😋
Can't beat the views and the food is fantastic as well. Went on a beautiful Sunday night near sunset and food still came out fresh, and in a good amount of time. The sweet potato fries and hot dogs are always a winner! I'm sure whatever you eat will taste better sitting on their deck!
I had the best experience thanks to Daphne, Makayla, and Gabby! The employees from both inside and at the ice cream caboose were welcoming, professional, and so fun to be around. Each of them went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly and I was completely taken care of. Their teamwork and energy made everything amazing! Plus the food is great! Awesome experience!
Excellent views of the river directly above the public boat ramp and near the launch of the Jet Boat Tours. I had the haystack and was not disappointed, it was great and every bit a meal on its own. We still opted for the Silo Split which is a combination of French Fries and Onion Rings. My wife had the Silo Chicken Sandwich. Everything was great. They give you a pager to let you know that your food is ready to pick up. A good deal of seating inside almost 360° around the restaurant. There are a number of tables in the grass area adjacent to the restaurant.
Easy to order. Not a long wait. Food was great. Good portions on the Haystack and Fries. Employees were friendly and helpful. Nice view of the Niagara River.
Amazing food and a beautiful view! We love eating here and of course the ice cream is a perfect finish. Definitely recommend eating here
A great place for a good meal with great views. The main attraction, the Haystack, is shredded steak on a hoagie bun with hashbrowns and cheese (mayo optional), and was featured on Man v. Food. WARNING: they do serve a footlong variation but I warn you, DO NOT GO IT ALONE. Unless, of course, you have one heck of an appetite or you've got nothing to do the next day. Good for a scenic stroll before or after dinner. The decomissioned caboose in the pic is actually an ice cream shack, although they close it in early September. Worth the trip while the weather's still nice and if you (like me) have a pooch you'd rather not leave behind.
Did not disappoint. This entire area is very well kept. The staff was all teenagers that obviously didn’t have a lot of customer service experience but they did “ok”. My daughter wanted a water with her kids meal and the cashier added a $5 bottle water and gave her an empty cup for the soda fountain. A wasted $5. The food was delicious! The view was amazing. You should take time to read the historical plaques it’s quite interesting.
The Food was great & the atmosphere was inviting. The views were peaceful and serene. You have the option to order with your phone from a table of your choosing or stand in line to order & pay then choose a spot to enjoy the fresh air waiting for your pager to buzz to pick up ur food. After enjoying your burger or hot dog, you can walk over to the Caboose for some perry's ice cream which won't disappoint & can enjoy it with taking a stroll or snagging a spot on a swing or bench to watch the sunset or just relax. This definitely a great way to close out an eventful day.
My wife and I visited the area and found this wonderful place. They processed the order line quickly by giving an electronic buzzer to let know when your order was ready. The view across the Niagara River was relaxing and beautiful. The food was fresh and very flavorful. I ordered the Silo Haystack and it was really good. The onions are crispy and the temperature was just right. We would go back and in fact did return a second time after our first time.
Featured in Man v. Food The Silo Restaurant is one of a kind. I am happy to say that it lives up to the hype. The restaurant is within a historic coal silo and provides some nice scenic views of the Niagara River. Right across the river is Canada. If it's your first time at the restaurant you have to try The Original Haystack. It's so good!
The view and he French fries were amazing. My gluten free burger was also really lovely. However, I can’t understand why a restaurant of that calibre with such great food manages to have so dirty washrooms. The back of the toilets hadn’t been cleaned in fore over and dirt was stuck on it. The sinks were stained…
Unique restaurant with great views and awesome food. Most seats wrap around edge and offer awesome views of the river. Food was great and the sweat potato fries were the best I've ever had. The sandwich was enormous and again spectacular. Ice cream next door. Worth the drive from the city.
We stayed at the nearby hotel. We tried the food here one night and it was so good that we went back a few more times during our stay. The view can't be beat. Perfect for a laid back romantic evening. They were super accommodating with my wife's gluten allergy as well. Definitely Celiac friendly!
The chicken fingers are great! Wonderful atmosphere sitting atop the water. Even in the heat of summer a refreshing breeze is sure to cool you down while enjoying your meal. The condiment station is convenient and allows you to get anything you need quickly and in whatever quantity you would like.
We stayed at the Niagara Crossing Hotel up the hill across the street from The Silo and we stopped here shortly after arrival while walking our dog. We ordered haystacks, no mayo, and they were very good. The haystack is a unique sandwich, one I could never duplicate myself, so I'd definitely order that again. Also, the service was great. Hannah in particular made us feel very welcome. She was super friendly, answered our questions about the menu, and then got our picky, customized order perfect. She even bundled our fries and drinks so we saved some money. Hannah also made us laugh while ordering, so she gets bonus points for that. Then Hannah came by to bring our thirsty pup a bowl of water, and also made sure we got our food and were enjoying it. We ended up having a wonderful and relaxing sunset dinner with perfect service! Thank you, Hannah! I highly recommend The Silo. There's also a great ice cream truck onsite (Perry's Ice Cream). The lemon sorbet was very smooth and refreshing.
What a stunning location! I have really been sleeping in Lewiston even though I only live 30 minutes away! This place really caught my eye because I was looking for a quick bite and a nice view with my meal. The fries are absolutely amazing, the salmon burger I got was good but nothing spectacular, the location was everything. I will definitely be back and can't wait to try more of the food!
This spot sits in a perfect location, offering up an amazing view of the river while you eat. The Food is absolutely amazing, the haystack is my go to and didn’t disappoint. The staff are always smiling and helpful. I feel like I am unsure if it’s the amazing food, the views or the staff that made you feel so welcomed that will keep me coming back. I just know I want to go back.
They Haystack was excellent! Solid food, fair price, incredible views! Highly recommend for a quick date!
This unique restaurant, aptly named, offers an incredible view, being situated directly on the river and housed within an old silo. The food is excellent, and the portion sizes are just right. However, please be aware that the preparation time can be a bit lengthy, as everything is made fresh, and the cost is relatively high considering the menu. It is suitable for both dine-in and takeout options.
Neat little food spot. Place was packed but we ordered and got our food all within about 15 mins. Forgot to take a picture but the double burger and chicken salad were good and filling. Really neat spot sitting over the river and the public boat ramp. There is plenty of parking but I recommend arriving with plenty of time to make sure you can secure a spot as it a very busy area.
The Silo is a charming spot with stunning views – perfect for a relaxing meal by the water. The food is absolutely delicious, and the steak sandwich with fries and onion strings is a must-try! With fresh ingredients and flavorful dishes, every bite is enjoyable. It’s a wonderful place to stop while exploring the area. Don’t miss the chance to savor both the amazing food and the breathtaking scenery!
We loved it here, it was a very nice area with other things to do nearby. There are picnic tables available all around the restaurant, you can take food and sit anywhere, we sat at the patio that overlooks the river. There was some type of train car ice cream stand on the way out and it was good, too.
Decided to try The Silo while here on vacation. The service was prompt and friendly. The food, my SO got the Haystack sandwich which he said was incredible. I order the Beef on Weck which was absolutely delicious! And we got a side of onion rings. Then, after dinner, we had a small scoop of Perry’s ice cream. The flavor…honey ice cream, blueberries and pieces of cornbread…out of this world!!!
Goated music selection too. Food is always fantastic, my life will never be the same now that I’ve had a footlong Haystack. Frankly speaking, you divide my life very neatly into “pre” and “post” Haystack. I genuinely can not elaborate as to how fantastic it is. Ate the whole thing after I got home, and I’m already thinking about when I’m gonna pick up my next one.
Great place for a quick bite. They offer a variety of options from salads, vegan, burgers, hot dogs and of course the Haystack in addition to ice cream and delicious treats. Enjoy one of the seats inside and watch over the Niagara River below. Watching the sunset from here is phenomenal.
This is a piece of history transformed into a casual exceptional restaurant. Prices were very reasonable, selections are many, and the food was fantastic. Comfort food done right, did I mention RIGHT! The views are "million dollar" one's, the scenery doesn't get much better than this. Now I have to go back and try the locally made ice cream and Soft Serve - Idaho knows what I'm talking about - give me an hour or so 😁
Great food, reasonably priced, well staffed considering they are still operating past their regularly scheduled closing date. Cannot beat the view.

Haystack & Cider Float were amazing and not to mention the beautiful view, calming and relaxing surroundings.
I love the service\nAnd the food \nAnd the ambiance\nAnd overall I love everything about this because of the water view and the height

Is a great spot for either lunch or dinner overlooking the beautiful Niagara Rivervalley We all had the steak and cheese with potato straws on the sandwich. It was more than either of us could eat.

Don't miss out on the Haystack sandwich. Crispy fried shredded hash browns on a shaved steak loaded with melty cheese. Yummm
The view around the restaurant is awesome! Definitely must visit. Both their vegetarian and non vegetarian burgers are delicious. The ambience is very pleasing. There is an ice cream place right next door. The kids meals include a coupon for ice cream as well. You can enjoy water sports nearby and then have food there.
Lunch at the Silo on a rainy Sunday was quite yummy! We had the stack, which was piled high with beef and cheese and potato stix. Beef on a weck, this is the only bit that wasn't 5 star and it was only the bun. The bun was covered in table salt and it was just too much salt. The beef was delicious, and I wiped the extra salt off so I could eat it. My son had the Silo burger and that was gone quick. We shared a large order of loaded fries and they were loaded with the best bacon, so good. Location is perfect on the river, even on a rainy day view is beautiful. We will definitely visit again and next time get some ice cream too!
Beautiful river views at sunset. Mostly outdoor seating. Order at the counter and pick up food to take to the table. Type of food is burgers dogs chicken and fries. The bbq chicken was good, but not great ( grilled chicken breast covered with sauce after cooking
Date of visit Mon Aug 7 We first learned of this restaurant while watching a rerun of a show called Man vs Food on the travel channel. We were surprised to learn of this restaurant that was so close to us, that we had never heard of before. We cross the USA border into Lewiston a lot, and yet never went into Lewiston itself. Until now. This is a fast food style restauarant where you place your order and then find a seat in the silo. They call you when your order is ready for you to pick up. The building is a historic old silo and has amazing views of the Niagara River and the Canadian Side of the river. Burgers, dogs, sausages, chicken, and other similar types of food. We ordered the Haystack & Fish & Chips. The haystack is like a loose meat sandwich covered in cheese and fried onions. They offer loganberry drink in the beverages – which made me happy as I am from Crystal Beach where loganberry drink was made famous, and very popular when I grew up. The food is very good. A nice casual meal with nice waterfront views. The restaurant is only open May 1st - September 6th and is very popular with locals and tourists during the summer/ There is a train caboose onn site where you can get ice cream cones. Some of their flavours were pretty amazing. A walk along the river is a lovely way to work off some of the calories you just took in, and see the Underground railroad statue, and the cute town.
Great story and atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit. The service was fine and the food was good. The outdoor seating was nice. I loved the patina in the bathroom. Prices were kind of on the high side. The fish sandwich, hotdog, smelt, burger and onion rings were all good. Sandwiches would have been better if the buns were warmed and not so cold.
No frills, cool history and location overlooking the river. The Haystack was tastey, but not thecbest option for those counting calories! Meat was extremely tender, full of flavor with all the seasoning. Bun to meat ratio was good. Def a unique sandwich and worth a try at this iconic local eats. Sweet potato fries crisp on the outside and soft inside. Thumbs up! Wonderful outdoor seating... great for kids too!
We stopped her because some locals we ran into at a park recommended it while we were vacationing. Great Food! Kids loved it! All kids meals were $9.99 but big. In the summer the kids get a free huge ice cream with their meal. My only complaint, is the drink prices. The fountain soda was $3.99. My suggestion is to bring your own drinks, because you sit outside anyways, or get water if you're a family on a tight budget. The views here are beautiful.
Yummy. Huge portions and the view is awesome. Also they have ice cream but I have not had it, I always end up at the bakery down the road for dessert

Our order was prepared in a timely manner but must say the hamburger bun and the hot dog buns were cold and hard. It was very busy but I'm afraid we won't be back
Haystack was cheese sauce with bits of ground up meat topped with Durkee's Potato sticks. Onion rings were from tops frozen food section. My Son in law got the same thing and was disappointed.

On the water seating is extremely beautiful, you get to see the liveliness of the lower Niagara. Food was good, especially the fries which are some of the best I’ve had.
Food was hit and miss. The haystack I think it was called was delicious and I highly recommend. The veggies burger (the guacamole was a joke I amount and from a bottle?!) Was yuck. Ordered 2 kids fries and only got one.... sweet potato fries were eh ok. Where it's located is worth it.
Food quality inversely proportional to the ever increasing prices. Wanted a burger and fries. Would have been $18, which is way too much for what amounts to a fast food size/quality hamburger. Everything ala carte is just sad, a way to squeeze every nickel and dime out of the community. Luckily the tourists will pay, but for how long.....Lost me as a customer after this time unfortunately.
Beautiful setting. Relaxing and inviting.\nFood? Fair. I ordered the "Fish and Chips". overpriced, small portion.\nOvercooked, thinly flayed and poorly breaded.\nMediocre taste. The vegetarian sand…

Food is okay. The hostess taking orders pushes the side orders. You don't need them. We spent about $30 more on sides than necessary. We could have easily gotten by with one order of fries + rings for 5 people. Maybe 2 orders. And cut the bill in half. Thought it was rude of the order taker to push it everyone in our group (mostly small kids) when clearly it was too much food. And, was discourage from ordering salad because of some sort of up charge. After more carefully reviewing menu it should have been cheaper to order salad than fries. Go ahead and get the salad. Need green on the plate somewhere, right? Fries are waste of food and money. Not much flavor. Blah. Mushy. Here's kid with an overdose of fries + rings.
Food was not what I expected. Large amount but not good. No flavor, looked like slop in a bun. They were closing for the season and were out of some items on menu which messed our order up. They did their best to fix it but it was just not good.
Beautiful setting, but that ends the good part of the review. This is basically boardwalk fastish food. fries-not hot; hot dog on a cold roll. Haystack sandwich had good flavors, but all served in …
Cute atmosphere. The staff was polite but they handed me ranch 3 times when I orderer blue cheese. Fries were lukewarm and sandbagged. The haystack (which was so good in years past) was too salty to eat. It was terrible. They blamed it on the potato sticks but it was the meat. All I tasted was salt and pepper. Very disappointed.
We had their house special sandwich, which was ribeye and cheese mixed together and heated in a big round blob that was plopped on the bun. (my first choice was for a BLTT but they were out of the turkey )It tasted terrible. Looked worse. I only took two bites. My daughter ate half of her sandwich and couldn’t eat anymore. The sides were equally bad. I’ve never given a restaurant such a bad rating it actually I’m not exaggerating. Looked like dog food on a bun.
First visit to this place and it will also be our last. Food was not very good…although the onion rings might have been fine if they weren’t cold! None of the food was hot. Place was a pigsty. It does have a cool view but come on….and we didn’t bother getting ice cream afterwards. $5 for a golf ball size scoop? And that is how THEY describe it right on the ice cream menu board.
