We had such a wonderful meal at Café Deco! We started with the Parmigiano Reggiano and it was absolutely perfect. For our mains we had the meatballs and the bean stew — both were delicious, comforting, and full of flavor. Our server, Dan, was incredibly friendly and made the experience even better. The ambiance was cozy and welcoming, the kind of spot you instantly want to return to

Super delicious …. Everything was fresh and very nicely plated - loved the beetroot soup & mackerel appetiser. No pics of the mains only our empty plates as evidence of a good meal. Must try 🙂 P.s nice service, too

I have been coming here over the last year and love it so much. It's very laid back, and the food is simple, homely, and yummy. The veg, fish and most of all DESSERTS are outstanding. The meat dishes I am not as drawn to. God the desserts. I don't know how they do it, but the pastry on the tarts is always spot on. I've also had some of the best salt cod I've ever had here, and I'm from Portugal where the national dish is salt cod! They salted it in house, so it was v soft and flaky. The portions are large. The service is always lovely. And it's great for solo-dining (ask to sit at the window, or bar). Thank you for having me : )

What a little gem of a restaurant on a beautiful quiet street in Bloomsbury! Absolutely delicious frill-free food. The menu changes based on what's seasonally available, and everything we tried was exceptional. The flavours are finely balanced - everything just worked. Wonderful and helpful service too. Must come back to try more dishes!

Everything I had was delicious and high quality. Service was excellent and I loved the design of the restaurant. Surprised by some of the other more negative reviews. Apparently they change their menu weekly and sometimes daily, so perhaps the kitchen misses on a dish periodically. Definitely a bit pricey even for the neighborhood but the quality is there. I’d suggest maybe some light music to management, the restaurant felt a bit too quiet at times

What a great little restaurant! With a very interesting vibe that makes you think it’s a quite old place, it is actually not!! The produce of every single ingredient is top top top!!! So good, so delicious. I loved the simplicity! A new favourite in London!

We have been here a number of times and each time it has been excellent. The food is exceptional. Even the simple egg mayonnaise is elevated through the use of quality ingredients and is a must try. They have a very good wine selection (all natural wines I believe). To top it off the staff are wonderful and very knowledgeable about both the food and the wine.

Delicious, the most relaxing atmosphere, every dish so interesting and finely selected seasonal ingredients. What a wine list! And sweet, great service. Thanks so much for our special lunch

I had to edit my review. I probably went on an off night a few months ago but we decided to give it another go. This time the experience was just perfect. Friendly service, good food and wine, buzzing but warm atmosphere and great desserts. Can’t go wrong. Old review: I really really wanted to love this place. Our experience was odd, off and random. We made a reservation for two a few weeks ago. When we show up up for dinner the place was half empty (or half full). They offered us a table in the basement. The basement: There were a lot of nice tables upstairs, by the bar, outside , etc but they wanted to sit us down there. It was literally empty there, quite hot and it felt strange they wouldn’t offer a better table. I asked for a table upstairs (there were two empty tables on the main ground floor) but in the end we ended up sitting by the bar. At this stage we weren’t as comfortable as it was hard to understand the situation. Deco maybe needs a bit more love.

We had a fantastic date night at Cafe Deco. Our server (young man possibly from Manchester?) was excellent, welcoming and very knowledgeable. The food is delicious, and whilst on the pricier side lives up to expectations. You feel that love has gone into it! Thank you again to the team tonight, we had a great time x

Great spot for lunch, good value for food and drinks in central London. Lovely helpful staff. Cafe atmosphere.

My fourth time here, but my favourite of the times. The food was so considered, delicate and yet hearty for the changing season. I love this place

Cute, quaint place on Store Street for a nice lunch. Since it's on a small street, we didn't get much noise from cars. Aside from noise, the restaurant was small and decorated with light colors. Booking is essential! When we came in, it seemed like it was completely empty, but within 30-45 minutes it was completely full.

Laid back elegance, super service and a small fun menu. Its a place to chat and enjoy (no superfluous background music - just happy sound of people enjoying dinner ).

A really beautiful evening! We sat outside and had a lovely dinner full of the kind of food that you could make yourself but it wouldn’t be anywhere near as good if you did. I really recommend the antipasti dish and the aubergine spaghetti. It’s a wonderful feeling to be surprise by how absolutely delicious the first bite is. I look forward to returning.

Really nice restaurant. We went there as a group and every one loved the food. The spécial : tangerine sorbet was a hit.

This is an amazing gem. A true example of the new London food, very seasonal, with a natural wine bar. They make their own sauces and jams, you can take home. Exactly the type of restaurant I look for when I come to the UK. Top staff, daily changing menu, very well executed, fresh and original. Looking forward to the next time. The street and area is very cute to walk around. Go for lunch or dinner with a small group (2-4) to share things or alone at bar! Reservations suggested for dinner, or an outside table.

Beautiful decor, great lighting, perfect menu. No music, which I initially was confused by but actually really enjoyed! Egg mayo and schnitzel were to die for. Citrus salad added the perfect freshness to our winters meal. Beautiful selection of cheeses. Cracking bottle of wine. No better way to spend our Valentine’s Day, finished with a little espresso, tasty glass of dessert wine and a box of cute matches to take home.

An charming little neighborhood spot serving elevated yet comforting British food. The restaurant is quite small (so book in advance) but warm and brightly decorated, with a friendly and smiling staff and an ever-changing menu. The food was delicious from start to finish - the artichoke on toast, the salad, the mains were all fresh, seasonal, and expertly prepared with not a pinch of salt missing. The server made sure to bring bread along with every saucy dish for us to mop up all the tasty leftovers. The wine menu is surprisingly eclectic, and we had a gorgeous Spanish white wine that was recommended by the team. Possibly the best part of the meal was dessert - a perfect treacle tart with the surprising but necessary addition of lemon to cut through the sweetness; bit of cream on the side didn’t go amiss either. In short, spent a lovely evening here and am sure to come back and try the food in other seasons as well!

The vibe of this coffee place is amazing as well as the staff being very helpful. They do a variety of sauces on place that are delicious. I truly recommend this place for a coffee lover.

I have been coming since it opened, during the lockdown years. The food is fresh, delicious, with a weekly changing menu that follows the seasons (hence I can keep coming and never be bored) . The staff is lovely, and very polite (despite the fact that some recent reviews may insinuate the contrary ). Every time I want to have a special night out this is my go to.

Bought a gift voucher for my parents - my Dad's birthday. The staff looked after my parents with grace, even gifting my Dad a jar of Cafe Deco marmalade. Excellent and stylish food served with care and attention. Many thanks!

Gorgeous spot. Despite us being picky on sitting inside or out, they were gracious on serving and seating us 10 mins before opening. The staff is extremely professional, and the food is interesting and delicious.

I’ve never felt so genuinely honoured just for booking a table, but that’s exactly how it felt having lunch here after our marriage registration. It wasn’t a big celebration, just a small lunch with our nearest people, but it somehow became the heart of the whole day. The food doesn’t try to be showy, but everything looked so inviting, you couldn’t wait to dig in. We ended up trying a lot (maybe too much, but no regrets), and every single dish hit that sweet spot between comfort and curiosity. You could tell real thought went into it, but it never felt overworked. It’s already well know, that Anna Tobias is one to admire, and the food absolutely backs that up, but we left as full-on fans of the whole team. The service was warm, low-key and completely on point, and the wine list was full of smart surprises (and good priced!) We thought we were just going out for a good lunch. What we got was a meal that made the day. Thank you, guys!

A* grade Lunch Had a lovely long lunch in the sun here. Food is honest, seasonal and wholly satisfying. The wine-list varied and the staff have great knowledge and can easily make a recommendation. Rhubarb ice cream a last minute add-on abs so glad we did. Service was a little patchy but it’s a new opening and these are strange socially distant times. I am sure this will improve, and I look forward to returning soon to confirm.

We sat outside with our dog and had a lovely dinner. Food was great, large selection of wines, roast pork loin main was amazing but fried courgette starter and John Dory main felt overpriced for what we got. Staff was great, very helpful and even provided water for our dog.

Delicious meal, small space but you didn't feel squashed. Prices weren't bad for three courses (but I also had a bottle of wine)

It is a good place to grab a bite. I love their custard filled donuts and custard tarts. I tried their chicken and peas risotto with mushrooms and I actually loved it. The other dishes are relatively easy to make on your own, but since I always mess up the risotto it's nice to have it here during lunch time! Be careful though as it can get quite busy at times. I don't mind their customer service, it is not terrible but not great either.

A bursting little café serving simple, elevated British cuisine to share. The service was exceptional and the food delicious (special mention to the rillettes and cornichon toast: divine but way too small), but the starter plates are pretty small and £140 for two with just 2 glasses of wine puts it on the pricier side…

B
Ben Millis

Beautiful restaraunt with an amazing vibe. Found the food too expensive for what you get‐ £35 for a main course with no carb portion is extortionate. If they fixed that then it would be the perfect restaurant.

(There for lunch.) Small but pleasant restaurant; short menu (which is often the best approach) with tasty courses; good service. Recommended.

Really delightful staff. Starters delicious. Main courses a bit disappointing. Excellent wine list.

Small restaurant on Store Street, quite cramped when busy but that adds to the atmosphere, can be very loud especially if you have some larger tables in. Food was ok, nothing wow and didn't think it justified the high price taf especially for the mains. I really was fine buSmall somewhere I'd probably go back to

J
Josh T

Maybe a bit a harsh if I say it was the most boring food I’ve ever had. But I highly doubt other comments on “deliciousness”. The chicken was tender but not much flavour. The potatoes were quite bland and oily. And I just didn’t really understand the risotto, I could taste nothing but the bitterness from the lettuce and the cheese, or was it the point? The staff was friendly.

If you find yourself in Bloomsbury, I'd suggest dropping by Cafe Deco, especially for their desserts. The ingredients are fresh and genuine. However, be aware that the pricing is on the higher side, with £35 for a beef main course and £14 for a salad dish. While the meals are enjoyable, they don't quite justify their cost in terms of taste. I acknowledge the high rent in this area and appreciate the local community culture, but overall, I believe the food should be more commensurate with its price.

I have always passed this place and was intrigued by this as I know they release weekly menus. Unfortunately, it's not really all that amazing. The decorations is very cute and the staff are nice but the food is pretty mediocre and very small portions. Nice for a one time thing.

Oh how it pains me to give this delightful gem off Russell Square less than five stars. I went with a party of five and sat at a back table because we did not have a reservation. The rest of the restaurant looked cozy and convivial with warm lighting. The food was simple but lovingly prepared, bursting with flavor. I thoroughly enjoyed the smoked eel with fresh beets as well as the white bean stew. But the service! What on earth! Our party was met with mixed up orders, poorly timed orders, forgotten orders - all of it. My son’s perfectly cooked lamb arrived a full ten minutes after everyone else’s main courses which greatly affected our overall enjoyment of the experience. Of course we were placated with explanations and apologies but please, do not assess your patrons and think that the table in the back of the restaurant with children is any less deserving of a professional and efficient server than the table without. Put your trainees on the weekday lunch service. We were all disappointed, including the children who are also budding foodies. I hope to experience this wonderful establishment again and hopefully with much more polished service!

Rather undistinguished food, I'm afraid. A watery, crunchy beetroot soup without much depth. A fresh, basic veg stew but at £27 that's not enough. Strong wine list. Given awkward dim table by the stairs on a glorious day.

Before even seeing a menu, we read a neatly worded justification for Café Deco’s increased 14% “optional” service charge—a move framed as essential for fairly paying staff while keeping menu prices “accessible.” Ironically, the service was indifferent, and the food certainly didn’t warrant the premium. For the prices they charge, we expected something memorable. Instead, we got small portions of average-tasting food, served without much enthusiasm. At one point, mid-meal, I found myself laughing at the absurdity of a single forkful of chickpeas costing me at least £2—not out of joy, but sheer disbelief. It was impossible to reason with the prices when the food itself gave us so little to justify them. To top it all off, we had planned a small surprise for a friend’s birthday—a cake to mark the occasion. The server seemed sheepish about the request, and later, while queueing for the toilet, I overheard them asking the chef to cut it into six. The response? A blunt refusal: “They are paying for it!” And pay we did—£6 per head, a total of £36 for a slice of something ironically better than the meal itself. We left Café Deco feeling both hungry and out of pocket. If they put as much effort into their food and service as they do into justifying their prices, it might be worth it. As it stands, I won’t be back—unless I fancy another expensive lesson in disappointment.

I was really looking forward to dining at this restaurant with a friend. According to Google, the restaurant was open from 12 PM until closing, so we walked in around 5 PM. However, we were told that the restaurant only opens at 6 PM. Strangely, we noticed that other customers were already drinking, so we politely asked if we could just order drinks while waiting. We were told again that they open strictly at 6, and that all seats were fully booked. Another staff member also came over and bluntly told us there was no availability today. However, when we checked the reservation website, there were clearly tables available — including at 6 PM. Thinking it might be a mistake, we made a reservation, and it went through without any issues. At 6 PM, we returned and were seated. The same staff members who had previously turned us away seemed visibly uncomfortable. Their earlier attitude felt cold and dismissive, almost arrogant. As an Asian customer, I couldn’t help but wonder if we were being discriminated against. I truly hope that wasn’t the case, but the experience left me deeply disappointed and hurt. The food itself was delicious, and I genuinely appreciate the quality of the cuisine. However, the female server who had earlier turned us away avoided eye contact entirely and silently took our plates without saying a word, which made the atmosphere very uncomfortable. I wish I could say it was a pleasant experience overall, but unfortunately, the way we were treated left a very negative impression. I hope the restaurant takes this kind of feedback seriously and considers how important kindness and respect are in hospitality.

Went there my birthday, arranging us at a nobody’s corner although we reserved 3 weeks before the day, no service at all - no service until new dishes, brought a cake asked for lighter and took them 15mins for a no and needs additional fees for eating take-ins
