Alex was our waiter throughout the evening. He was really attentive and helped us decide which dishes to order. He has a great energy which made us feel welcome. Sergio made some lovely cocktails. Food was delicious, good selection of meat and vegetarian dishes. Looking forward to visiting again.

Really nice and relaxed atmosphere. Went on a Sunday and all had the roasts which were fabulous and big portions. Would like to go on another day when food choice was more varied.

Excellent service and delicious, well-presented food. The venue is beautiful and nicely decorated This building is a bit difficult to spot from the road, but it is very conveniently located across the highway from the Waitrose in South Woodford. The duck was perfectly prepared and had a good amount of sauce served alongside it. The vegetarian ravioli was very tasty (I am told). The broccoli side with almonds was cooked just enough, and had a lovely smokey flavour.

Was good food few hick ups here and there. As it was the first night. Friendly and welcoming staff. Decor was simple and good. Went again for brunch was good today.(1/12/24)

Sergio and Gavin and JD made my night extremely comfortable, they tended to my every need, we had a great night and I would definitely come back to this place. What an amazing team doing an amazing job. Grazie mille!

We held our wedding reception at Jones & Sons, SW. From start to finish the service our family, friends and we as a couple received was exemplary. Chloe made us feel so relaxed and chilled throughout and her attention detail and professionalism shone through during the evening. The food is always first class and all our guests said that it was the best they’ve ever had! Thank you so much Chloe and all of the team at Jones & Sons!

Great place and service from Sergio and team! His allowing us to taste the wines before selecting was a great touch that convinced us! Surprisingly good food for the low prices too. We selected our own pick of starters and appetisers, all of which were tasty,tasty and extremely reasonable! Elegant setting with a quiet atmosphere which is perfect for a nice dinner. Highly recommended in all aspects!

I had the pleasure of visiting Jones & Sons in South Woodford for a very special occasion, celebrating two close friends tying the knot and I can honestly say the experience was flawless from start to finish. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted warmly by a team whose attentiveness and professionalism set the tone for the evening. The true jewel in the crown was Cora, whose approach to service was nothing short of a masterclass. Every interaction was delivered with a smile, genuine care, and just the right balance of efficiency and warmth — the kind of service that elevates an evening into a lasting memory. While I admit I’m better at remembering faces than names (an embarrassing confession in moments like these), I would be remiss not to mention Sergio, who, alongside the wider team, ensured the entire experience felt seamless. Every member of staff played their part in creating an atmosphere that was celebratory, comfortable, and effortlessly polished. It’s rare to leave a restaurant feeling like there are no notes to be made, but this truly was a 10/10 evening. Jones & Sons has more than earned a return visit, and I’ll be singing its praises to anyone looking for a venue that delivers both heart and excellence in equal measure.

We were part of an event yesterday evening. I want to say that it was amazing, the drinks were great and Sergio was very lovely. The manager who i was told is called Alex did a great job running everything. The event space downstairs was nice, welcoming and clean. We cant wait to come back again.

This place has a lovely chill atmosphere with a beautiful aesthetic. I came for some drinks with my family and we could not decide what cocktails we wanted from the many options in the menu. The amazing bartender offered to make something off the menu with our favourite spirit and type of drink we would like. I’m a tequila drinker and like it spicy, he did not disappoint and had provided with a delicious cocktail with tequila, agave and spices. Would defo recommend this little gem in South Woodford for a beautiful dinner or a nice chilled place to have good cocktails and chat.

Special shout out to Alex for being the best host and Sergio for the best drinks. I went with a couple of friends for their bottomless brunch and had the best time. The portions are perfect and the meals are served individually which I thought was a plus. It’s family friendly with a lovely chilled vibe. We had unlimited drinks and meals and everything was cooked to perfection.

Sergio served me a Banana Daiquri to die for.If you have the fortune to visit Jones & Sons I dare you to try the two fir one cocktails,so refreshing and tasty.

Sergio and Alex were the best anyone could ask for. Great service and communication. Atmosphere was great as well as food. Could not recommend enough!

I had an amazing experience at this restaurant for a Sunday roast with my friends, we didn’t have a reservation but they’ve squeezed us in even if it was quiet busy! The food was absolutely delicious and I had one of the best cocktails in a while, the honey fizz, I highly recommend! Service was attentive and super friendly, each team member made our visit fun and memorable! Will definitely visit soon again!

The place is lovely with a warm and fresh atmosphere. We tried the focaccia and then Sunday roast and we were blown away. Finally some tender and tasty meat! The sides and gravy sauce were pretty good too. The cherry on top is the kindness of the staff, thank you so much Nesli for being so attentive and caring. I would come again and 100% recommend to everyone who fancies nice food, drinks and a sublime Sunday roast! 🙏🏻

Visited for the first time today. The team went above and beyond to squeeze us in (party of 4) without a reservation, at an understandably busy time. We got the whole roast chicken sharer, and beef roast dinners. The food was exceptional, one of the best roasts I’ve had out in a long time. Sticky toffee pudding was also lovely. Thank you, we will definitely be back.

Dined here more than once and it’s gotten better and better after initial teething issues on service. However, there is one dish that doesn’t seem to be working- the crab! The pasta is gritty, almost so that it feels like shell is still there. Better crab needs to be sourced. Aside, all the other food I’ve tried is amazing. Still dream about the chocolate mousse that was on the menu at the end of the summer. Would also love to see more hake specials as it was delicious!

Actually the best Roast ive had in years. Beautifully presented and mouth watering. Would consider it Birthday party material. Thankyou Alex for smooth service and helpful tips. Thankyou Sergio for lovely coffee and a warm welcome!

The food and drinks are immaculate. Sergio made us feel very welcome with his bubbly and happy personality as well as recommending and putting together amazing drinks with his bartending expertise. Highly recommend a visit to this amazing restaurant and bar I will be attending again very soon

Mango mojito by Sergio was art. Great hosting, providing a comfortable and relaxing experience. Super gregarious and extremely accommodating. Fulfilling some customer requests that I know I wouldn’t have shown the same patience towards… Him and the rest of the staff at the event were faultless. Great service, can’t recommend enough

I came for sunday roast with my friends and had an amazing experience. I was surprised with the size of the portions, the meals are huge, and it’s definitely worth every penny. The food was extremely tasty, i enjoyed myself a lot. And a special word about the cocktails, so far are ones of the best I’ve tried in London. Our waiter Alex was very kind and attentive to us, and we felt pleased of the service. Definitely will come back!

18 of us enjoyed a lovely Sunday lunch here yesterday to celebrate our (very pregnant) friend who didn’t want a baby shower. We insisted on a little fuss and found ourselves nestled in a lovely private space downstairs with lots of natural light and easy access to the loos and terrace. Booking was very easy with Keira who I was able to WhatsApp with questions, requests and last minute changes. The roast was delicious and starters and sides were divine. My vegan roast was perfect. Excellent wine and cocktails too. I really don’t have a bad word to say. Our server was Jamal - an absolute pleasure. He managed our group very well, was attentive, professional and warm. Faultless service. Nothing went wrong or was forgotten. Thank you for making our friends afternoon so special.

From the moment I walked in, the staff were incredibly welcoming, friendly, and attentive, making me feel right at home,especially Nesli which was the loveliest. The food was absolutely delicious — perfectly cooked, with all the trimmings you’d expect from a classic roast, and each bite was full of flavour. The atmosphere was just as amazing, with great vibes all around. Whether you’re with friends, family, or just enjoying a cozy afternoon, this place is a must-visit for a perfect Sunday. I had my wedding after-party here and it was an all-round great experience! There was a small misunderstanding at one point, but the team handled it really well and resolved everything quickly for us. We truly appreciated how professionally it was dealt with. Overall, we had an amazing time and would definitely recommend this venue :)

Really pleased we gave this a try. Booked an early Saturday dinner with family and it was sadly pretty quiet. The atmosphere would definitely be improved with the buzz of more diners. We ate off the fixed price menu (£29.50 for 3 courses) as it had many of the a la carte options included. This was such good value and I hope it becomes clearer on the website when booking that this is available. Service was good. The only minor issue was the slowness in getting the mains (but otherwise courses and drinks orders were pretty speedy). Food was excellent and I cannot fault it - I particularly loved the sea trout main and the beetroot and feta starter, both of which surpassed my expectations. Kids menu includes the classics and they enjoyed their food. I hope this place does well. We’ll definitely be back.

I went in two occasions for sunday lunch. The food is good, however the roast came in very raw for my taste and I have asked to re-cook it. But the meat and vegetable were pretty decent. If I go again, I probably would specify how well done the meat. The time I went were quite quiet for sundays but were a lot of family with young children in both occasions due to the easy parking. To my surprise, the disable toilet is a bit off putting. The floor was wet and changing table was yellowish. I would suggest they take a look at the changing table in Gail next door. They should put a bit more effort in the table. A stunning Georgian mansion but with a pub toilet. The service isn't terrible but the last time I went, I asked for tap water three times until I decided to get it myself and always need to get out of our table to ask for something.

Took 15 for Sunday lunch …. It’s an interesting place with a cellar style atmosphere downstairs… the roast was ok nothing special, we felt it was cooked too far in advance and not fresh. The servers tried hard but we had to keep reminding them of drinks etc …. It’s a pretty cold restaurant as we were hosted upstairs with the door constantly opening as people smoke outside. Wouldn’t rebook.

I had the vegetarian roast and it was delicious. So I really cannot fault the food. We also had excellent service. The problem, however, is the restaurant itself. If you're going for the minimalist look, then at least do it well. The marks over the walls, the wires dangling around the ceiling, the glaring speakers and the rancid AC unit above the tables were all just unacceptable. It's a real shame really as this place could be absolutely brilliant. They've got the food right, but not the decor. I was also extremely disappointed to receive a small 200ml bottle of diet coke. All customers, across the world, hate receiving those tiny little bottles of diet coke which have basically nothing in them. When it's the first thing you present to your customer, you're basically telling them "we're trying to cut costs and we don't care about your experience."

Hugely underwhelmed by the food. We had the Sunday roast. The steak and lamb were cooked well but just average in flavour and taste. I opted for the sage and onion stuffing. They were dry and crumbly, tasted defrosted and reheated. Even the focaccia for the starter was over down and dry. It just needed to be warmed up, not toasted. So all in all not very good.

Really disappointing Sunday roast and quite overpriced. Had a roast beef and was small portion but was severely over cooked and had a very odd taste, almost like mutton or game. Starters were better but again small portion even for just some bread and butter. Deserts and drinks were the best with both portion size and flavour. Would not go back for a roast. Service was very good however and the interior is nicely laid out.

Went for a roast on fathers day table of 4. wasn't very welcoming, service was so slow. Made a mistake with one of the dishes (meant t be gluten free and wasnt) took ages to replace so one person got their food way later than the rest. They kept forgetting drinks orders & our plates were not cleared after we finished. It was very quiet so not sure why the service was so slow & poor. The actual roast dinner was nice but the ribeye steak was not good. Would not return!

Really disappointed with the service. My partner’s starter arrived after everyone else had already finished theirs, and now my main still hasn’t turned up while the rest of the table is nearly done. We only got an apology after I asked where my food was, and they said there had been an issue in the kitchen. For both the starter and the main? We’ve also been sat next to a family with a child watching YouTube on loudspeaker, which hasn’t helped the experience. We got here at 2pm and it’s now 4pm and my main still isn’t here. Just not good enough and we won’t be coming back. Edit: One starter and one main were taken off the bill as an apology, which we do appreciate, but it was still a disappointing experience overall.

We went here for my wife’s birthday and we’re looking forward to it based on the reviews and the menu on the website. We booked for 6:30 as we have 2 young children. The next party to arrive did so an hour later and the one more before we left around 8pm, so it was quite dead for a Saturday night. Many items on the website menu were not listed such all the sharing platters, which is what suggests this restaurant is going to attract customers. Prawn and scallop starters were average, We had burgers and the sea bass, can’t fault the burgers but then it would be worrying if you can’t get that right and then also the sea bass which wasn’t that great, the teryaki mushroom we disgusting. The red wine (temperanillo) wasn’t great but my wife’s white was was fine. Can’t fault the service, our waiter was polite and attentive, but it’s not like she had much else to do as we were the only ones there. We did not stay for dessert as the selection wasn’t great and the experience wasn’t inspiring us. The toilets didn’t look like they were cleaned and attended to before evening service. Given the setting and expectation this restaurant should be doing better. Maybe it was because it was the last weekend before payday. I think maybe they do a better brunch an d Sunday roast trade, as mentioned in some other reviews. The bill bill for four adults and two kids came to £230 for 2 starters, 6 mains and a one half bottles of wine, which left me feeling quite underwhelmed. Needless to say I won’t be returning.

Visited this restaurant last year and had a wonderful time, however I can not say the same for last night. I understand the restaurant had an event downstairs but they were clearly understaffed. The food took over an hour to arrive, portions were small and could never get staff’s attention. Not sure I will be back. A shame as it is a lovely setting.

Incredibly disappointed by the experience here. After being seated just after 7.30 and promptly served with a drink, things went downhill. Starters didn’t arrive until almost an hour later; steak tartare was missing its egg yolk … After that it took another hour (!) before mains arrived - including an incorrect side dish - by which time everybody else in the restaurant had finished their meals and left. Inbetween time we asked for another pair of cocktails and got served the wrong drinks. Apparently there was a party downstairs with lots of canapés, and nobody behind the bar upstairs, which meant that we got pushed down the pecking order. The staff marooned upstairs were doing their best, but the whole place was clearly understaffed. If you don’t have the staff to cover things, then I’m sorry, but you shouldn’t take the booking. What food we had was good, but we won’t be going back.

Staff are lovely food is not fresh and lacks flavor. The staff also do not receive the service charge which isn’t something ethical.

We decided to treat ourselves today and have a first Sunday outing with our newborn and heard great things about Jones and Sons in Hackney. It is so painful to write this but we just came back from the worst Sunday roast we’ve ever had. Ever. Everything was so bland, no salt let alone seasoning, and most of each roast was stale. I’m not sure if they prepped too far in advance but the potatoes were hard and cold in the middle - like sneaking a day old roastie out of the fridge for a snack. The vegetarian gravy, oh boy - tepid water with possibly mushrooms in it? Saving grace was that the children’s portion is a decent size, albeit not good food. The decor is simple and lovely, and the staff were nice. Obviously felt terrible having to tell our server about this - who kindly removed the service charge even though it was the food that was the problem and not her. Don’t think we will be back since it’s pricy if it’s a miss again, but maybe for a drink.

Worst dining experience Ive had in a long time. A burger and chips took 2hrs to come after we pre booked. Starters were burnt and small in portion size. The restaurant was cold and empty on a Friday night which was very bizarre. Just my table and one other in a restaurant that can fit 100 people. Shocked they havent closed down.

Disappointing the food was dreadful - an overcooked dry burger for £18 no accompanying sides chips were £6. One burger was off you could smell it was on the turn, seam bream small dry and rubbery served with a laughable citrus fennel salad- a lump of fennel with one piece is orange smaller than 1p again no sides, steak at £30 served on a plate with nothing, overcooked and chewy. Sides served 10 minutes after mains which by this time had to be returned. Overpriced and disgusting. To be fair the manager took the main courses off the bill - we didn’t order anything else so went home hungry. We never received an apology and the bill had the cheek to charge service!!! The seats were also very low and super uncomfortable. Shame as it’s a lovely venue but would definitely not recommend eating here again.
