Fun times
Great place to hang out meet some new friends everyone is friendly and fun 🤣😃😃
The Bar has two pool tables, live DJ's. I use to live across Broadway from the Mineshaft. I met two Partner's at this Bar. It's dark and exciting for me. Always knew the Bartender's by name. I sure miss Robert and the late Ricky (Coconuts) as he was known. Very crazy Bar. When single and younger, I always found company at the Mineshaft. Lots of fun. I will have to go back and check out the newer generation now. I hope to see some old friend's. DJ's where always spinning awesome music. Drinks where just perfect. If you want to know some good Bartender's, strike up a conversation. Remember they are usually busy, so, be patient. A good place to frequent. Parking is on the street. Get there early to secure parking.
My favorite place to meet, greet, and mingle. I rarely ended up going home alone at the end of the night! Great place to unwind and be yourself. They hookup up strong drinks at low prices! Come out and play!
Had a Birthday party for my partner at the Mine Shaft tonight. Was beyond smooth! Had a really great time! The staff was so very accommodating! Jose, Ricky, Emily and Richard, as well as the doorman, were beyond awesome! Thank you all for making this night so special. You all rock! Thank you! Jeff Kimbel
I love this levi leather bar probably because I worked at the Fault line bar.Good brew and good jukebox and friendly customers!Yeah
I’ve passed through a few times now but every time I have come Douglas, the bartender, has served me drinks and every time without a doubt has made me feel so special. The last 2 times I have come here, honestly to grab a drink and go to the next bar, Douglas has literally made my whole day my asking me how I was doing simply because he remembered my face. If it wasn’t for Douglas, I probably would have not stopped by for a drink… or even stayed to dance to Whitney Houston’s “Dance with somebody”
This was my first gay bar experience and I couldn’t have been more thrilled. Being surrounded by so many humans who share an unspoken bond was a memory I want to hold on to forever! This bar in particular was my favorite of the bunch. There are so many bars on this strip and I circled back for more because I truly enjoyed the atmosphere and service.
Mindshaft is our go to bar. It has everything I want! I just love all of the people that make this bar so successful. I run an Airbnb, and I bring my guests here and always have a blast. Well not a blast when I lose at pool. Tip tip tip and you won't regret it! The prices are great and bartenders knows you. They have go go Dancers on Friday and Satrday. The crowd gets pretty large without getting super uncomfortable. They have a smoking patio chill area to get to know someone. It's close to their other bar The Brit, and it's nice to bar hop like this to change the scene. The guys are fun, outgoing beach people. The music will bring you back to the good ol'days! Great combo!
The 2 Stars for Food is for as per events. With no kitchen the service certainly makes up for it. With Robbie and Matt at the helm it has brought a breath of fresh air to the establishment. Though the previous GM was Great as well. One now feels extra Welcomed, Included , and Necessary when here. To explain the noise, it's Happy Noise. 😀
This is the perfect gay bar. I was in town on Tuesday and this was such a friendly and fun space. I got to sing my heart out and enjoy some great drinks with great company and atmosphere. Definitely check this place out.
It's a FAMILY affair. Good music fun people
Mario was great! Drinks were made well and the Mexican food vendor right out front was delicious and convenient.
Had a great tonight at this bar. Mario took good care of me with happy hour drinks. The people were so welcoming and fun. I will definitely be back!

Great atmosphere, mix of mellow and busy with no attitude.
Unique atmosphere, but cozy environment!
great beer, great prices
This is a great grungy gay bar where it is made for the local crowds just like joking for a beer or two to chill in a non pretentious place
I dropped into Mineshaft while visiting from out of state. It was a weekday, early afternoon, when I was there so things were slow. I liked the vibe of the place and hope to come during later evening on next visit.
It's got a cheers feel where ((Everybody knows your name)) They dont! but around 12:30 the boys are Hot and ready, I've been patronizing since 95
Drinks aren’t too expensive and I really like the old school atmosphere. Smoking area is grimy in a good way. Can get really busy on weekends but can also be low key during the week.

Haven't been here in a LONG time. Very long time. Pre-covid. The bar itself is cool. But. The vibe is kinda killed with the street vendors right in front. The mood inside has always been dark, a little cruisy, but now, the street vendors in the front have these blinding lights facing the building, and trying to sneak in for a drink I'm sure a lot of DL guys have opted to go elsewhere. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind street vendors but maybe directly in front of a bar, covering up the sign and banners isn't the right move business wise. We drove by and past it twice because we couldn't see the sign.
There's a lot to say about this restaurant. It's huge, they have an extensive menu, a bar, and an arcade. They do offer daily specials on their menu. They have hands down the best mozzarella sticks I've ever had in my entire life!!! They also carry Sprecher's root beer which is a big thing up there and it's delicious. They have redone the bathroom since I was there last and that makes things better. I think the restaurant itself is very loud. The wooden booths, or table and chairs aren't very comfy. The waitstaff is average. I'm not sure the food is worth what you pay. If you're going with a group everybody can find something to eat on the menu whether it's steak, Pizza, salads or the fish fry. I always feel like I'm eating in a cave. Next time - cheese sticks to go!
This is and has been my local watering hole for years. Totally love the owner Jeff. He has alway's has been super inviting and charming to me since meeting him years ago. In the last few months though i have noticed something here and at the other local bars regarding food street vendors. I am all for anyone making a living doing honest work which they all are but why at Mineshaft are they literally setting up shop right in front of the entrance? And i do mean right in front of the only entrance to the bar! What if the customers are not hungry? What if the customer wants a little more low key of an entrance? Anyway i don't know why this is being allowed? I realize that no one owns the sidewalk (including the vendors who think they do) but this just seems wrong to me. In all years before everywhere i have never seen this practice nor do i feel it's right. For me part of the appeal of the MS was discretion on entering and leaving. Now with blinding lights and literally a kitchen and some people eating not so much. All i can say is i hope this practice soon stops. Entrances to establishments should not be blocked. And let me state i have no problem with the street vendors other then this and that if any licenses or rules are required that they adhere to them just like any business has to.

Great crowd lots of ppl go to specifically this establishment out of the 3 hot ones in this area (falcon, mineshaft and the brit) but fyi...it gets Hot..could not find an outside area
Lack of service. Basic. I am part of the LGBTQIA2S+ this club says so but... Nope..
House music is good but not for all night
Went there last night a little after midnight, my partner was in the restroom and asked me to wait by the door because it was the one that didn’t have a lock. One of the waiters tried to go in and I told him someone was in there and he literally rolled eyes at me asks if it “was a girl or something” before just brushing me aside saying “Well I work here so it’s fine” and barged into the bathroom. Thankfully my partner was already washing their hands but I was so frustrated we left immediately after. That is not the kind of inclusive environment you would expect from a gay bar. Never going back again I get being a bartender can be stressful but that’s no excuse for that kind of behavior ever.
The bartender seemed miserable and he was rude. I paid cash for two drinks and didn’t drink anymore. I tipped the guy good too. No hello when I said hi and no thank you. I almost asked for my tip back. This place is sure to lose business if the attitude continues. A place like this wouldn’t have business if we had a bartender like that.
some got stabbed here 😱
No parking anywhere
Worst place on earth!!!!
The bartenders forcefully removed us from public sidewalk as well as the Hispanic street vendors outside.i called the police which determined the venue in the wrong for using physical force on its patrons and told them to keep their boundaries. Falcon is much more welcoming. Would not recommend for colored community members.
12/25 around 12:30am I've been coming to the Mineshaft since I was 21 I've never had a problem with any of the bartenders there until last night. I got to the bar there was probably only 2 people there, 4 of my friends came with me while the others were still getting the bar. The bartender ( did not get name) served us and when my other friends got there, he ordered a pitcher and the bartender told him he needs to see everyone ID. So I got up and went outside to tell my friends that they have to come in and show their ID. So all all my friends start coming in, my friend Jasmine who has never been to the bar came in and did not notice the uneven entrance and fell hard to her knees. When this happened I was at the bar and the bartender instead of checking on her to see if shes ok? he instead said "this is why I dont serve pitcher" then he proceed to poor all the beer down the drain and walked over to the other side of the bar and started making out with a guy and totally ignore us. He finally walked back just to argue with my friend who is a officer. At this time things were getting heated, so I told my friends let's just leave and spend our money elsewhere.
My friends and I came from LA and we have never seen such rude customer service, lousy venue, and a boring crowd. It was 1:45am and they closed their restroom and facility when their GMB and Yelp listings mention 2am. That is clearly non compliant to OSHA regulations. When we kindly asked to use their restroom before we left, they refused. Completely unacceptable, unprofessional with lack of proper etiquette in customer service. Certainly gave us a bad perception of Long Beach.
Today Saturday November 9 I give to review this place and give 1 star because there’s not a cero ,service bartenders have a horrible service this Latino chubby guy they give you actitud and it seems that they do not know how to serve a drink the only good thing was the dj and guy asking for IDs
Horrible customer service! Some lady claiming she was the owner made me and my group very uncomfortable! Idky she came over to our table. She came over saying we look like a fun group then made rude comments towards us afterwards!? Nobody invited you to our table lady!!! Ughhh never going here again!
Went there today, around 1 pm incredibly boring people setting at the bar (oldies) I sat down at the bar, was ignored by whoever was supposed to be tending bar, finally got acknowledged, 4 bucks 4va small Mason jar of beer, no "thankyou" no.nothing, incredibly boring place, guess because I was an put of towner looking for a place to hang out and maybe a lil action, it wasnt here, place is old and dilapidated needing a remodel and updated, thought I'd found a place to hang out, certainly not here. Customer service sucks, non existant, wont be back, not that you need me, but word of mouth travels too
Staff should be more polite when asking patrons to leave. Actually communicate when last call is, don't wait until last minute to yell at customers to leave.
False advertising, rude staff, and a hot, stuffy venue. This place was a total disaster. Their Instagram explicitly said clothing check was complimentary, but when we got there, it was suddenly $5. When I showed the post, the person working the check gave me major attitude and completely dismissed me. It wasn’t about the money, it was about being lied to and then treated like I was the problem. We were in and out in five minutes because the whole vibe was ruined. The place was miserably hot, the energy was off, and honestly, it felt like the owners just wanted your cash and couldn’t care less about the experience. This bar is a stain on the gay bar scene. Hard pass.
Mineshaft was my go to bar. I moved away and after 6 years moved back. 4/5/25 was the 1st time back and it’s definitely changed. The bartender was super rude who was more worried about gossiping with is friend Ruben then tending to customers. Every time he came back to his register where I was sitting he would just talk crap about the person he just served. Then I asked the friend if he wanted to sit in the empty set next to me I’d be more then happy to move over he just gave me this look of discuss when all I was try to do is be nice to his ass. I drove all the way from San Diego just to go the Mindshaft. Let’s just say I’d never go back. And I remember his name because we had the same name…🙄
Advertised $11 for a pitcher on Sunday, but 2 basic beers is $15? The math ain't mathing, also bartender didn't know how to count my change properly 🙄 this is a disgrace to gay bars
I just have to say that the bartender that we had tonight Sunday, November 24 was extremely rude and obnoxious. We had a power trip and got upset because we asked him why was wondering cheaper than the other one so I believe he’s charging a different price for whatever the price is really on the drink so it’s probably a thief
This place has been on the decline for a while. It’s a local popular watering hole, but it’s just there for the money. It always smells like sewage water.. The bartenders are sometimes uninviting and don’t make it feel like you’re in a safe queer space. Security is very lax and practically nonexistent.. if you want a heavy pour in a cruise-y space, this is the spot. It’s not always safe and staff don’t respond well to concerns from patrons. Probably comes from the top-down.
If you ride a motorcycle, don't come here. I've been coming here for years and always parked in front - no issues. Today a new bartender was very unwelcoming and would not let me park in front & refused service. Falcon and all other LBC bars allow motorcyle parking.
