Good price, good fish. The staff were kind and efficient. We shared the omakase special of the night, some appetizers and a roll that came with it. Highlights were the fresh tofu, and the toro which was exquisite. Parking was decent, with a bunch of one ways around the area so you will make a lot of loops before finding a spot but the restaurant is right by the 7 for those who love the subway. Tuesday, at 6:00pm we entered a calm and by 6:30pm it was bustling with families and couples meeting after a long day of work. This place was alive.

We had a great dinner. The only miss was the sake katsu - the salmon was really dry and we couldn't really eat. Kamo salad was refreshing. We had the tuna and salmon hako sushi, lobster tempura futomaki, and other rolls. Highly recommend!

My partner and I LOVE Hibino LIC. The food is fresh, carefully crafted and consistent. ALSO Delicious and nourishing. The waitstaff of usually one or two is always calm, kind and efficient while keeping a full restaurant cozy and fed. A reliable place for a casual lunch or dinner.

Hibino is one of my favourite restaurants in LIC. I love that they offer their lunch specials even on weekends. I always order their "obento box", which comes with a choice of an entrée from their daily-rotating list (so cute how they write them on a few chalkboards that they move around the restaurant for whoever's ordering). Everything I've ordered has always been delicious, from the various fish dishes (salmon / arctic char are particular favourites), the stir-fried pork, and their sushi rolls. The salad is invariably so fresh, and the small side of obanzai is always a treat :) Price point is unparalleled -- I think the bento was priced at $12 when I first came a few years ago, and it's still $12 now. Such a lovely cute restaurant -- service is fast and friendly, and the interior, while a bit small, is definitely very cosy and has that unique rustic Japanese aesthetic to it (including a lot of their tableware). This is definitely a must-try in the area, and I will no doubt be back very soon!

This is one of the best and most authentic Japanese restaurants that I’ve ever had in NYC. The sushi is excellent, better than fancy sushi places in Manhattan. The quality of the fish is so fresh. Other dishes are excellent too, reminded me of what my mom cooks at home in Japan. The interior design is really nice too. Reminded me of a modern hip restaurants in Japan. Would definitely go back, this place is amazing!!!

Cute little spot with very friendly service and freshest delicious food, from rolls to obanzai and their homemade tofu; also they offer a wide variety of Japanese beers (Ginga Kogen Weizen was very juicy and refreshing). Overall a great place where I would definetely come back

Incredible food with incredible service! The fish here is of amazingly high quality and served at perfect temperature, which a lot of restaurants overlook but is so so important to bring out the flavors of the fish. The toro here was my personal favorite, but they also had uni- sea urchin- of very good quality. Sea urchin can be a little hit or miss, but the ones here were so good, practically melting in your mouth with its natural buttery flavor.

Really great lunch bentos for affordable price ($12). Sushi and sashimi is a little pricier but still reasonable for the atmosphere and quality. The cocktails, like the yuzu beer, are unique too.

I’ve been here three or four times and it’s just incredible. I spent a few years in Japan and the quality of this food is exactly what you’d get over there. And it’s extremely affordable, to boot. You can get a great lunch for $12-16, and sushi rolls are about $6 each. The service is also impeccable — reliably friendly and attentive. おもてなし (all-out great service) kind of thing. Make sure you check out their daily specials when you come in. I can’t recommend this place enough. I’ll miss it a lot when I leave New York.

The overall quality of sushi was good, it's delicious and clean, and neither is too much or too little. Compared to the prices in New York, the prices were reasonable and the composition varied. I had Hibino Sushi Plate, Shrimp Tempura Roll, and Spicy Tuna Roll, and I highly recommend Hibino Sushi Plate. If you are close, I would recommend visiting!

The essence of Japanese cuisine is simplicity and allowing quality ingredients to shine. Hibino is the physical manifestation of that mission, and it excels on all fronts. With its simple open dining room of tan colored wood tables you could have stumbled upon this place in a small town anywhere in Japan. Specials are presented on an adorable chalk board resting on a small kids chair. The day we were there a young lady was managing the entire floor acting as both waiter, host and busboy and never missed a beat. The food is fresh, authentic and delicious. We ordered a variety of sushi 🍣 and a couple of salads which were all excellent. The bento box 🍱 seems to be the shining star and I will order one the next time I am there. There is a lot to love on their diverse menu, reason enough to return. While clearly a local favorite for those in the know, the adjacent 7 train station makes it a tempting alternative to Manhattan joints.

High quality sushi and Japanese fare. Cozy vibes. Great, warm service. The roasted green tea hojicha was awesome.. so flavorful and direct from Japan Got two different types of rolls (spicy tuna roll and salmon avocado roll) which came with salad and miso soup as part of their lunch special. Great great deal given the quality of fish and ingredients. And price point! Hoping to be back

Had a great meal at Hibino. We walked in at 5pm (when they open for dinner) on a Sunday and were able to be seated right away. But soon after (like 30-40 minutes later) the restaurant became full. Look for the chalkboards that have the daily Obanzai menus and special rolls. Sushi was great but I think I enjoyed the other dishes more. Will definitely come back again!

I think the food is pretty good. I just think the menu experience is poor. Is this an izakaya, budget omakase, or teishoku dining experience. I wanted more grilled fish entree options.

Cute little spot came here with friends for a quick lunch the bento box is $13 which you can't beat. The sushi plate was $24 also a very good price. Honestly, very enjoyable place.

Really good sushi for the price. Just don’t compare it with high-end omakase. Laid back ambiance. Service was a little slow and cold. Would definitely return. Can’t go wrong with the sushi plate.

finally got around to trying hibino :). their bento boxes were really affordable with plenty of options - it was just enough for me and i have a smallllll appetite, so i’m not sure if the portions are enough. but their prices are unbeatable! i ordered the panko fried salmon bento box — was a bit dry and bland, wished i had gotten tonkatsu or something else off the menu that wasn’t their bento box. my friend ordered chicken curry rice and enjoyed it!

This small sushi spot in LIC was run by a single waitress and was surprisingly busy when we stopped by for weekend lunch. They offer bento box lunch specials, but we opted for the Kaisen don and the Hibino sushi plate. I didn’t expect their version of “spicy” tuna, was just a dab of spicy mayo on top of the roll. Unfortunately, the sushi was just average, a few pieces lacked the freshness you’d hope for. Overall, a decent neighborhood option, but not somewhere I’d go out of my way for.

Food 6/10 I wish I could say that I enjoyed the food here more, especially because it’s such a cute concept and store, with a very reasonably priced lunch menu. I got the chirashi bowl, which was okay, but the seafood wasn’t the freshest. The roll we shared was okay, and honestly it was just a good but not great meal. Atmosphere 9/10 Very peaceful vibes of the interior, it was giving zen through the light wooden tones. Service 9/10 Friendly and quite fast.

The only pro is the ambience. Nice calm space, even with a long community table. Granted, there was only one waitress for the whole restaurant on the busiest day: Mother's Day. So while she wasn't horrible, she wasn't good. She would serve our soup without spoons and it would take a while to get her attention again. Every interaction with her made US feel bothersome. But I mean, all I want is utensils for the food. Cons: Ordered the Hibino sushi plate. I only enjoyed 3 pieces of it. I lost my appetite when I saw a piece with some cartilage?? I couldn't even cut it off. The roll it came with did not taste remotely good. The salad was salty. The short ribs lunch my mom ordered was bland. The shrimp tempura roll I also got for her was the smallest I've ever seen in NYC. And they charge $4 for Coke in a small glass.

Absolutely unacceptable service. Our family was forced to move tables twice just so the restaurant could accommodate another group. That is beyond disrespectful and shows zero regard for paying customers who were already seated. On top of that, the waitresses were rude, impatient, and dismissive instead of apologetic. No accountability, no courtesy, and no basic customer service. This place clearly prioritizes some guests over others. We will not be coming back and do not recommend it to anyone expecting fair treatment or professionalism. The waitress (fake Blonde) Bobbie and Sin were horrible!!!! Stay Away!!!!!
