Came for the view with my boyfriend and we were not disappointed! Our server, Mike, was the funniest and friendliest guy—he and my boyfriend even bonded over the Buffalo Bills. He recommended the Kobeyashi cocktail (so good!) and suggested starting with the garlic noodles to share, which were delicious. We finished with the small boat, which was more than enough for the two of us. We’ll definitely be back to try the donuts Mike recommended, but we were way too full this time. Amazing experience all around!

If you’re visiting this restaurant for the first time, make sure to request a table with a beautiful view. It’s the best way to enjoy the food there. While the food isn’t particularly delightful, it’s quite tasty for the price.

Our waiter TJ was superb! He made us feel comfortable and made sure to give us extra special service when he found out it was our anniversary, treating us to dessert and complimentary champagne! Great service coupled with great food, not to mention the perfect ambiance enhanced by an amazing view and beautiful night made it a wonderful date night for our anniversary celebration ❤️

I was visiting LA for the first time and actually discovered this restaurant on TikTok. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect, but WOW—it was amazing! The atmosphere was so endearing, and being high up on the mountain made the experience even more special. The only downside was the narrow drive up, which was a little intimidating, but trust me, it’s worth it for the stunning view once you arrive. For drinks, I had the Hibiscus Highball and the Honey Buck—both refreshing and perfectly balanced. To start, we ordered the gluten-free avocado crispy sticky rice and the edamame truffle dumplings. If you’re a truffle fan, the dumplings are an absolute must-try. For sushi, I ordered the Basil Baked Salmon, which was delicious, but I also tried a bite of my friend’s Creamy Shrimp Roll and it completely blew me away. Next time I’ll definitely be getting that one for myself! This restaurant is a 10/10 in my book—I’d absolutely go back and highly recommend it to anyone visiting LA.

Took my daughters here. The views are spectacular, the best I’ve seen in LA! The food was great, great service too. We got the prawn fried rice, lobster calamari, few sushi plates and it was enough for us to share. Paid about $126. Worth it! We plan to come back for my daughter’s birthday.

An amazing Restaurant up in the Hollywood Hills 😎 The location is excellent, it has a great relaxed layout, with lots of Seats/Tables, fabulous Decor and awesome views over Downtown LA 😎 The Service is great, the Cocktails are excellent and the Food is truly stunning👍👍 There wasn't one food item that was poor, but if I had to pick the best ones, I would recommend the Wagyu Rolls and the Sashimi Pizza (trust me, they're not a Pizza 😉) they were sooo good 😎 Whilst the Bill was a bit more pricey than you regular Meal, it is definitely worth it 👍

Might be my favorite restaurant in LA. In the Hollywood Hills, so mildly difficult to park. Valet is a must. Fantastic views! Portions are great. Food is solid. Book early as reservation are tough.

I absolutely loved this restaurant! The Japanese estate in which the restaurant resides is so unique and you must wonder through to get the full experience. Service was incredible and the food was amazing. My favorite was the hamachi crispy rice and the short rib dish.

I visited with my gf. Food is Ok,I ordered bao bun, short rib and sea bass. Short rib is a little salty. The service is great, got a great photo at this beautiful night~

Celebrated a birthday. Even with the rain, Yamashiro's outdoor seating area is enchanting. We ended the meal with the smash cake, which needs to be ordered ahead of time. It is worth the extra effort.

The views here of the entire city are spectacular! They even had an American wagyu steak on a Himalayan salt block that comes to your table - and you finish cooking it at the table. Totally memorable restaurant.

This was such an amazing experience! We came to celebrate a birthday here and we're impressed by the quiet and romantic atmosphere with gorgeous views! Exceptional service, almost too quick! The food though was the best and left us craving more. The rolls are great size and the fish was so fresh, it was melting in your mouth. Highly recommend this place!

Yamashiro Hollywood is an amazing place to visit, especially if you want a memorable dining experience. The food is absolutely delicious, beautifully presented, and full of rich flavors. Every dish feels carefully prepared and worth trying. One of the best parts of Yamashiro is the stunning view. Sitting on top of the hill, the restaurant offers breathtaking views of Hollywood and the city lights, especially beautiful at sunset and at night. It’s a perfect spot for a date night, special celebration, or when you have guests from out of town. The staff are very friendly, welcoming, and attentive, making the whole experience even better. They take great care of you without being overbearing, and the service feels warm and professional. Overall, Yamashiro Hollywood combines great food, incredible views, and excellent service in one place. I highly recommend this restaurant if you’re looking for a unique and upscale dining experience in Los Angeles.

10/10!!! I was so worried this restaurant would be one with beautiful aesthetics and breathtaking views, but the food would be lacking. I was wrong! Yes, it is beautiful and worth visiting for the views and for hearing about the rich history of this 100+ year-old restaurant (please ask about the origin story) - but it is truly the complete package. Our server was Matthew, and he was so attentive, personable, and knowledgeable = everything you want in a server. The food was phenomenal. I recommend bringing a group so you can try multiple things. We ordered the spicy tuna crispy rice (YUM), oysters (the one thing I might not try again, but only because I prefer smaller oysters), bao buns, yellowtail sashimi (the best I’ve had), steak garlic noodles (OMMGGG I could eat these every day just curled up on the couch binge-watching a show), spicy aurora roll, and baked lobster roll (both were big hits). Everything was perfect. I highly recommend this restaurant for a full experience. And if you get Matthew as a server, you’re lucky :)

Went for my wedding anniversary. Easy booking process. Added in the notes that it was a special occasion and they sat us out on the terrace with beautiful view of the skyline. Strong pours on great cocktails and fresh delicious seafood. The sushi boat is a must when celebrating. Complimentary champagne and Luis took great care of us. Fancy atmosphere and vibes and really gives you a chance to play dress up and be hollywood royalty for the night. Will come again.

The atmosphere here is a vibe within itself. The view overlooking Hollywood, Los Angeles & the valley while sitting in the Hollywood hills is breathtaking. The drinks are amazing. The food is phenomenal and top tier. I can't wait to go back. Staff is A+.....

WE LOVE TJ!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Our experience at Yamashiro was nothing short of unforgettable. The ambiance is incredible and the iconic Hollywood Hills views are breathtaking—but even those views couldn’t top the phenomenal service we received from TJ. We weren’t originally seated in his section, but he noticed we needed a little extra support (our first server was swamped) and immediately stepped in with genuine kindness and professionalism. From helping us get settled to recommending the perfect dishes and desserts, TJ made our first visit feel truly special. He was the reason for the season! We also ended up purchasing 3 of the 4 photographer’s photos—such beautiful keepsakes from a date night we’ll never forget. If you’re visiting Yamashiro, ask for TJ. He’s the kind of server who turns a great night into an extraordinary one. 🙌✨

We’ve been to Yamashiro Hollywood before for dinner and absolutely loved it, but this time we decided to try their brunch, and it completely exceeded expectations. The Japanese-inspired menu is beautifully done, and the sushi was incredibly fresh and flavorful. What truly sets Yamashiro apart, though, is the view. Sitting there, you get a breathtaking panorama that stretches from the Hollywood Sign to the Griffith Observatory, with sweeping views of Downtown, Beverly Hills, and all the way out to the West Side.

My family has chosen Yamashiro as our go-to spot this year. Every time we’ve been here, we’ve enjoyed amazing meals and excellent customer service. I highly recommend it if you’re looking for a great atmosphere and scenic views to complement your meal. Parking is valet, and it’s usually quick and efficient when you’re ready to head home.

We visit LA every other year for the holidays and this year, we decided to head over to Yamashiro for dinner. The food was amazing, the service was impeccable and the atmosphere was unreal. They seated us in the outside but internal garden - beautiful. Next time we would love to be seated on the outside of the building to enjoy the LA view. now we will try the Yamashiro in Miami and hope for the same first class food and service.

My family had such a fun time here over Christmas! This is such a perfect restaurant for big groups and celebrations. Great service. Nice staff and knowledgeable. Good variation of sushi and cooked foods. All of it was very delicious and we were so delighted with the entire meal. Id definitely come back for celebrations and birthdays.

Such a beautiful place and great food. Price of food is worth it for a very cozy and relaxing place. But valet rate for every car that is dining is not reasonable. If the parking valet fee is waived for every car who is dining will be more worth it.

My wife and I attended for our anniversary with reservations and it was our first time here. It was in halloween week and they had the place themed up. We asked for the edge seatd and with no problem they accepted my request. Our host and server were amazing unfortunately I don't remember their names but they did amazing but thank you so much. We got like around 3 dishes amongst the two of us and they were delicious. I asked if they had dessert for a special event and they had cheese cake with wine. We are located in Santa Ana and the drive there was like around 1hr and 30min. They have valley and the price was $25. Over it was great and I will recommend this place for a special night.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Truly Unforgettable Evening at Yamashiro Hollywood From the moment we stepped through the doors of Yamashiro Hollywood to celebrate our special family occasion, we knew we were in for something extraordinary. Ambience & Setting The grand historic mansion perched above the Hollywood Hills felt instantly magical. The panoramic view of the city lights provided a breathtaking backdrop, perfect for a memorable evening. Inside, the décor elegantly blends classic Japanese inspired touches, including the koi pond courtyard, with a lively yet refined vibe. The atmosphere struck the sweet spot between celebration-ready and comfortable for a family dinner. Service Absolutely top-notch. The staff welcomed us warmly, guided us effortlessly through the menu, answered questions about specials, and recommended drinks that matched beautifully with our sushi. They maintained the right balance of attentiveness and space so we could relax and enjoy each course. They genuinely made us feel valued, not just another table. Food & Sushi The sushi menu exceeded our expectations. Each roll and sashimi platter looked like art and tasted even better. The fish was impeccably fresh, the presentation thoughtfully crafted, and the flavors beautifully balanced. Highlights included a show-stopping specialty roll with great texture and a little surprise element, and melt-in-your-mouth sashimi that practically glowed with freshness. We also tried other Japanese inspired dishes and were impressed by how inventive yet true to flavor they were. Whether you’re in the mood for something bold or delicately refined, this menu delivers. Drinks The drink list was exceptional. Cocktails were creative and well executed, the sake and wine selections were strong, and even the non-alcoholic options were thoughtfully prepared. We toasted our occasion with something special and the bar team nailed it, timing everything perfectly and keeping the experience seamless. Family & Occasion Fit As a family outing to mark a special event, this restaurant was the perfect choice. The atmosphere felt festive without being over the top, the service made us feel cared for, and the food and drinks delivered beyond expectations. Final Thoughts If you’re looking for a place that combines excellent Japanese inspired cuisine, creative drinks, a stunning setting, and warm service, Yamashiro Hollywood is the place to be. We left feeling full, happy, and already planning our next visit. A fabulous five-star experience from start to finish!

We absolutely love this place! We celebrated my birthday here, and everything was perfect. The sashimi was incredibly fresh, and the atmosphere is fantastic sitting at the top of the hill with a stunning city view and a beautiful Japanese-style design. Yes, it’s on the pricier side, but you definitely get what you pay for. It’s one of those places you’d visit for special occasions rather than regularly. We ordered the sushi yacht for a group of eight, and honestly, we couldn't even finish it!

Absolutely loved the experience at Yamashiro. We walked through the gardens out front and ate sushi on the deck overlooking the city. Our server was honest about which rolls we would most enjoy and which might let us down - and he nailed it. Also, the entire restaurant was decorated for Halloween, which was a nice surprise. We will definitely be back!

We had an incredible experience at Yamashiro Sushi! The food was absolutely perfect—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. Our server, TJ, was so friendly and attentive, which made the evening even more enjoyable. The atmosphere is amazing, with such a unique and relaxing vibe that adds to the whole dining experience. As a Subway owner, I can confidently say their customer service is absolutely top-notch. I highly recommend this restaurant and can’t wait to come back!

It was one way up as we drove to the restaurant and one way down. We missed the parking entrance because it os hard to see, so we looped down and back up. Parking is valet only. The service was dry and with little personality from everyone except the lady who came around and took pictures. She was very friendly. The gentlemen who delivered our food were very nice as well. The pictures were 30 dollars for one 4x6 picture in a glass frame. The food was good but nothing that seemed special. It was way overpriced. I think you pay for the view and experience. The best thing about this place and the reason I would return is the vibe and views. It is dimly lit with stringed lights and a view of the city.

N
Nessa Rivera

The view and vibe were amazing. Service was great. I do have to agree with the majority that the food is significantly overpriced as nothing was spectacular about it, just some regular Asian cuisine. Although the food wasnt anything special, the service, the ambiance and the view would definitely persuade me to make another trip here for sure.

M
Michael Mikhjian

The views here are phenomenal. The staff is very friendly and consistent. However, the sushi overall was good but not amazing for the price the more premium price. As long as you know you’re paying for the vibe and cool factor of the place, then you’ve come to the right spot.

Definitely a place to visit. The view and sunset is breathtaking Atmosphere is vivid. Had an memorable experience. Another note is that service is very polite. Not rushing you out. The food its ok. Not 10 stars. I wish my soup had more flavor.

Came here to have our anniversary dinner. The staff was very attentive to our needs. We came right before sunset around 5 and it was great seeing the sky change and the tables slowly fill up with more people. Food was good but not the best. The Hamachi ceviche was pretty good. It had an added coconut flavor. The Hamachi collar was very good. The octopus was cooked well but there was not much flavor. I would come back again but only special occasions.

I went to Yamashiro for my birthday and loved it. The vibe is really pretty, and so are the place and the views. I enjoyed going at night, but I’d love to come back during the day to see the garden. It’s such a lovely spot for a nice evening out:)

Jan 11, 2026 Late Dinner This place is truly amazing. Went for a Birthday celebration. The atmosphere is so cool you can feel the history. Go early as the views are incredible. Also, pay for the valet service it is worth it. The food and drinks were great. Gourmet cooked meals. Portions are really good. Only issue we had was that one of the orders took so long that everyone else had almost finished by the time it showed up. The servers genuinely apologized. Expect to pay minimum $100 per person with a drink and tip but it is worth it. I recommend every one try this amazing restaurant. Also, great for a date night ;)

Yamashiro Hollywood is a gorgeous spot for a special night out, but for me it was more about the atmosphere than the food. I came right after a two‑week trip to Japan, so my expectations for sushi and Japanese flavors were pretty high, and nothing on the menu really “wow-ed” me the way I’d hoped.Valet parking was $20, and it’s basically the only real option getting up there, so factor that into your visit. On the plus side, they have a bar you can enjoy while waiting and cozy fire tables outside, which made the wait feel relaxed and fun rather than frustrating. There was also a photographer on site, which was a nice touch and made it easy to capture the moment without pulling out our phones the whole time.At the time of our visit, they had paused the sushi flights, so we had to order smaller rolls instead. We ended up with miso soup, salad, spicy edamame, four rolls, and a few nigiri orders. Portion sizes were surprisingly generous and everything tasted good, just not particularly memorable or unique. Overall, I’d recommend Yamashiro for the view, ambiance, and experience—especially for dates or out‑of‑town guests—but less so if you’re specifically chasing top‑tier Japanese food.

Here’s a polished, natural-sounding revision that keeps it honest and balanced for a Google review: > We were visiting Universal Studios for our daughter’s 18th birthday and stumbled upon this place online. It was only about a mile from our Airbnb in Hollywood, and the reviews convinced us to give it a try. The views are absolutely amazing and made for a really memorable experience. While the food was mediocre and nothing to brag about, the service and atmosphere more than made up for it. Overall, it was a great experience. If I were a local, I probably wouldn’t eat here regularly, but I would definitely bring friends visiting for the first time so they can enjoy the views and overall vibe.

Discovered this place through TikTok. The drive uphill was a little tight but it was worth the scenic views. Valet parking ($20) so didn't have to worry about where to park. The restaurant is beautiful with amazing views! The whole environment and atmosphere was stunning. It's definitely a must visit for an out of towner. The only issues we had was waiting longer than usual for one of our friends order because they dropped their dish brining out of the kitchen (due to the low lighting in the restaurant). Also, our check was not adding up, there was an extra charge of $10 that was not listed anywhere on the receipt to get our subtotal amount. Other than that, we all enjoyed our time and experience there.

A birthday celebration. I’ve been here many times since the 80’s. It was truly a beautiful restaurant around Hollywood. But after pandemic, for me this place seems to be a regular restaurant to go. Yes, the views are great. Service was fine and food was okay, not really great like used to be many years ago. We ordered Brussels sprouts and it was salty sand with garlic noodle. Sushi was okay.

Chrystal Lynn

It was our first here as my husband and I celebrated our anniversary. The atmosphere is what you're really paying for. I was cautious on the food and service as some of the reviews didn't seem so great, however, we still wanted to experience it for ourselves. The wait time to get to our table did take more than 20 mins. I would recommend to arrive 15 mins early to ensure you get seated close to your reservation time. It was disclosed to us that we had a 90 min eating time frame. The view did take our breathe away, but the food did not. Nothing stood out to us except the size of the prawns on the fried rice and the mixed mushroom side dish. We didn't order sushi as we read not so good reviews. Service was better than expected, but we did have to wait a good amount of time for our check. If you're still curious to try this place, don't have too much a high expectation and be ready to spend $$$ or expect not to get full. Lol

This place is for people who don't know sushi. Check my other reviews i'm a normal guy not some elitist. But this place would be mid even by the standards of decent strip mall sushi. Their tempura shrimp is pre fried and pulled out of a fridge. The waiter CONFIRMED this after asking the chefs when they gave us really soggy cold shrimp tempura. That's really bad, a strip mall place in a random suburb will still do it fresh Their toro is worse than the chutoro at a place like katsuya. Katsuya is real good so this criticism isn't crazy Their meat/seafood/noodle entrees are good. But this is not a high end sushi place. It's beautiful restaurant with good entrees that also serves sushi. Server and food runners and host staff were all great both times i went.

Came here for a birthday dinner. When we arrived, the atmosphere was great with a nice view of Hollywood and DTLA. The service was undeniably stupendous. I honestly could not complain because everyone who came to our table checked on us and asked how everything was. The food, unfortunately, is where things went downhill. My noodles were cold, and the meat was also cold and undercooked, which made me feel nauseous. I asked if I could get something hot and properly cooked. It took a while for the replacement food to come out, but it was hot and cooked correctly. However, I couldn’t eat it because I still felt nauseous from the few bites of noodles and two pieces of meat I had earlier. I told the server I couldn’t eat anymore, and she kindly removed the item from my bill. The soup was also cold, but the pork was cooked to perfection. My partner prefers her food served hot, which made the experience a little disappointing. Overall, this place is great for the atmosphere and as a nice spot for drinks, especially if you’re eating sushi, which we didn’t try. Thank you to our server for providing excellent service.

If this is just a place on your LA bucket list, got it. However, you may want to lower your expectations on the the actual dining experience--everything comes out really fast, the "yakisoba" garlic noodles were kinda tepid, and the eggs couldn't be removed from Prawn Fried Rice, which leads me to believe it's really just a buffet in the back and servers deliver your ready-made meal. That being said, the staff was very friendly and accommodating, the ambience was beautiful, and the atmosphere is fun and intriguing. Ultimately, this is a place you visit more for the experience and views than for exceptional food.

The positive aspects of our visit were undeniable. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful, with a unique drive up the hill and a charming view of the city. The special details, like the hand-drawn koi fish on the driveway and the gold-trimmed building, show a clear commitment to creating a stunning atmosphere. However, the food and service fell short. The food was average at best, and we faced several issues: incorrect orders, slow service, and empty water glasses. My steak was cooked rare instead of the medium-rare I requested, and the sushi didn't taste like the five-star quality we were expecting. To top it off, our waiter forgot our dessert, *after waiting awhile he insisted on bringing the dessert and the overall service was not what you'd expect from a high-end establishment.

First off the location is fantastic and the views well worth a visit. The downside well the 90 minute stick to rule and off table didn’t really work for me. It’s not how I like to enjoy dinner. The food itself Is nothing to write home about either. I took the wagyu beef sushi and it was average at best. The only highlight of the meal was the edamame. Also I found strange you can’t pay by Apple Pay and needed to have a physical card which they took away. That felt uncomfortable to do.

What could have been an incredible dinner was unfortunately ruined by poor service at Yamashiro. The views are absolutely breathtaking — hands down the highlight of the evening. Sitting outside along the railing gives you a stunning panoramic view of Hollywood, and I really appreciated the heater lamps since it can get quite windy up on the mountain. The ambiance alone sets the stage for what should be a memorable night. The noodles with steak were excellent — full of flavor with a nice kick of spice that worked really well. Unfortunately, the rest of the food was hit or miss. I initially tried to order the seared salmon but was told they were out of both the salmon and the sea bass. I asked if the fried rice could be made with chicken instead of prawns and was told no, so I ordered the prawn fried rice. It was extremely dry and lacked flavor, and the prawns themselves were also dry. To be completely transparent, I’ve had better fried rice at Benihana. What truly overshadowed the evening, though, was the service. We dined on 01/19/2026 at 8:00 PM, and our server, Gino P., was very short with us and largely inattentive. He barely checked on our table — at one point I even asked my husband if we had somehow upset him because of how little interaction we had. It took about 15 minutes after our food arrived for him to check in at all. The other tables around us who had the same server also appeared visibly annoyed by his lack of attention, which made it clear we weren’t the only ones experiencing this. Waiting for a box and the bill was painfully slow. When he finally came by, I had our credit card out and empty plates stacked to make it clear we were ready. He asked about dessert (we declined) and I requested a box. He returned with the box but didn’t bring the bill and walked away before we could say anything. After another long wait, he came back and asked about dessert again. We reiterated that we wanted the bill. Several more minutes passed before he dropped it off quickly without a word, followed by yet another wait before he returned with the card reader. As someone who dines out regularly, I can confidently say this ranks in the top three worst service experiences I’ve ever had. It’s incredibly disappointing because I could have overlooked the dry fried rice, but the service left such a bad taste in our mouths that it completely overshadowed what should have been a beautiful and memorable dining experience — especially given how stunning the setting is. Unfortunately, I do not plan to return and would not recommend it based on this experience.

The location is spectacular; we've been there before. The atmosphere is great, and the waiters, especially Mady, were super attentive, as were the parking attendants. However, the food didn't meet our expectations. The price doesn't seem justified by the quality of the food. The taste wasn't spectacular or delicious; it was just okay, but you can eat the same thing for much less and in larger portions. The appetizers, despite being gourmet, were very small. The Chilean sea bass was well-presented but bland, and the steak with garlic noodles was also flavorless, and the presentation was nothing special. The desserts need improvement; they were bland and dry. The bathrooms need more cleaning; it felt like we were in a completely different place when we went in there. There were no paper towels, and they were dirty. For such a beautiful place, the bathrooms are quite neglected. The valet service was also very expensive. High prices combined with a poor experience leave a bad taste in your mouth and no desire to return. I hope this feedback helps the managers improve because such a beautiful place has the potential to be so much better.

Very Disappointing New Year’s Eve Experience The New Year’s Eve celebration at Yamashiro was a complete disaster, especially considering the $140 ticket price. First, parking was extremely poorly organized. While traffic itself isn’t the restaurant’s fault, there was no clear parking plan communicated in advance. An email about parking was sent separately and ended up in my spam folder. Important information like this should be included with the ticket purchase, not sent later and easy to miss. As a result, there was essentially no parking available and a lot of confusion upon arrival. When we finally arrived, the entrance was completely overcrowded. There was only one person scanning tickets, while two different groups were mixed together: people with regular restaurant reservations and people who purchased tickets specifically for the New Year’s party. This caused chaos and long delays, with no clear organization or crowd control. Inside, the bar situation was just as bad. One bar had at least a 20-minute wait, and another bar was less crowded but required payment. On top of that, the bars ran out of basic non-alcoholic options like Coca-Cola and water, which is unacceptable for a paid event. This makes absolutely no sense when the ticket was advertised as including an open bar. The rooms were also extremely uncomfortable. Some areas had no air conditioning at all, and it became very hot and stuffy inside due to overcrowding. The restroom situation was unacceptable. For an event at this price point, there should have been bathroom attendants cleaning continuously. Instead, the bathrooms were a mess. I have photos to show this, which I will attach. There was no New Year’s countdown at all, which is shocking for a New Year’s Eve event. Missing the countdown completely took away from the entire purpose of the celebration. Lastly, one of security guard in particular was rude, aggressive, and physically pushing people around, moving back and forth through the crowd. This behavior is completely inappropriate—especially on New Year’s Eve, when people are there to celebrate, not be treated disrespectfully. Overall, this was a very poorly organized event and a huge disappointment. Definitely not worth the price, and not an experience I would ever repeat or recommend.

Had the worst experience here. Waited 20 minutes for a table I had a reservation for. On Valentine’s day, they didn’t let us switch to an empty table because of “high volume” but the table ended up being empty the entire duration of our meal. It took about 40-50 minutes for our main course to come out and you are only allowed to be there for a max of 90 minutes. When we got the food… it was abhorrent. The worst steak I’ve ever had at any steakhouse ever. Just see the picture for yourself. Presentation was horrible, and it was dry! I paid $433 after tax and a mandatory 20% service fee. For that kind of money I should at least have a decent steak. I’ve seen other reviews of the same experience and the restaurant says to email their reception team. I emailed them that same night and no response 3 days later. I’m local and this is such a tourist trap and I will never come back here again.

Extremely dissapointed, travelled from the UK based off their menu as I am fussy with food, the menu shows a 12oz filet steak, when I got to the restaurant after paying $20 for valet parking at this point the menu on the table shows 8oz filet steak, I showed the waiter and he said no its 8oz and I said but the menu on your website says 12oz and thats why I came. They wasnt interested, anyway im sure it wasnt filet anyway as it was fatty and way overcooked (photo attached). The restaurant is lovely though and the views are amazing but did not expect to me misled by an establishment like this. I emailed in 4 days ago after my visit but they havent even bothered to respond so its only right I share this.

**Yamashiro Hollywood – 1/5 stars (and that’s generous because I’m feeling charitable tonight)** Congratulations, Yamashiro. You’ve officially become the most expensive Panda Express with better lighting and a view. I mean, sure, the place looks gorgeous. The gardens, the koi pond, the 600-year-old pagoda, the whole “Kyoto fantasy meets Hollywood Hills” vibe — stunning. Truly. If this were a museum, an Instagram backdrop, or literally anywhere that didn’t charge $80+ for orange chicken that tastes like it was microwaved by a depressed teenager, I’d be singing its praises. But newsflash: it’s a restaurant. People come here to eat. Not to pay museum admission disguised as a dinner bill. The food? Let’s call it “Panda Express after it’s been through a corporate rebrand and a nervous breakdown.” Same gloopy sauces, same questionable protein decisions, same level of culinary ambition… except this version costs ten times more and arrives with a side of pretentious plating. I genuinely think the drive-thru version would’ve tasted better because at least it would’ve been hot and fast instead of lukewarm and fashionably late. Service? The kind of cold, transactional indifference usually reserved for DMV employees on the last hour of a double shift. They were polite enough, I guess, if your definition of polite is “we’re counting the seconds until you leave so we can flip this table.” Zero warmth, zero personality, maximum efficiency in separating you from your wallet. And then there’s the mandatory valet parking — $20 plus tip. TWENTY DOLLARS. To park my car 200 feet from the door. I’ve had cheaper dates. I’ve had cheaper therapy. For that price I expect the valet to carry me up the hill on a silk-draped palanquin while fanning me with palm leaves. Instead I got attitude and a scratched rim. Look, the view is incredible. You can see the entire city glittering like it’s trying to apologize for the bill you’re about to receive. But guess what? You can get the exact same view for free by standing on almost any hill in Hollywood with a pair of binoculars and zero pretension. Bottom line: Yamashiro isn’t a restaurant. It’s a very expensive tourist trap that happens to serve food as an afterthought. If you want to flex for Instagram, bring your influencer friends, drop $400 on mediocre Asian fusion, and pretend you’re living the dream — go for it. If you actually care about food, value, or not feeling like you’ve been mugged with better lighting… just drive past it. There are literally thousands of better dinners in this city for a fraction of the price. Save your money. Save your dignity. And for the love of god, save yourself the $20 valet humiliation. Yamashiro: where the scenery is 10/10 and the experience is “I’ve been robbed and I tipped the robber.”
