Visited during lunch on a weekday. Wasn’t too busy so was able to be sat quickly. Service was great as was the food. Glad I picked to eat here (small business) instead of IHop (corporate franchise).
I’ve always loved this place, so I came in this morning with a handful of quarters to have some coffee before getting my day started. While sitting here with my daughter the hostess asked me if I was hungry and offered to buy me a burrito. They also brought a bowl of fruit for my Baby Girl to enjoy. Just wanted to let y’all know I appreciate the hospitality and breakfast very much. Keep up the good work and I’ll see y’all again another day.
Great breakfast spot. The staff is friendly and the food taste fresh and home cooked.
This is the ONLY place I go for breakfast!!! The food is real!!!! These people are nice, fast, efficient and the food is wonderful!!! I go every weekend and a few times during the week and these girls ALWAYS remember my order!!! So it's always hot and fresh! There's a lot to be said for going to the same place where you get to know the staff and they get to know you. I TOTALLY recommend this place! I've had lunch and supper here a few times too and that food is always great too! Fills me up AND I have some leftover for lunch the next day! You won't be disappointed, this is THE ONLY PLACE to go for breakfast!
Small country diner with friendly service. The food was delicious!!! It was way too much to finish and the price was perfect! No pictures because we devoured it too quickly!
I love having breakfast here, even alone. The staff is very friendly and the people who eat here are very diverse, local people just coming in for a meal. The atmosphere is very relaxed and the food is amazing!
I'm not a huge breakfast fan, especially in the middle of the day. But this place is awesome. Their biscuits and gravy were excellent, I'm not sure how they take such a simple dish and make it taste so good but they have! I couldn't even finish my plate because their portioning was so big. Service was excellent and we will definitely be back!
This place is an absolute hotspot don't sleep on this one food is great service is amazing and all at a budget price
We were driving through and decided to stop and try and boy did we make the best decision. We were absolutely pleased with the service and the food.
Oh this is a wonderful place, it's definitely old school. Seat yourself she said, anywhere you'd like. The food here was great !! Food came out hot, plus the pancakes, were fluffy and delicious. The waitress was amazing, she was so accommodating and sweet, you can tell she really enjoys her job. Nice to see for a change. They were cleaning tables as fast as they could, so the place was well kept. Looking forward to returning.
This little dive is AWESOME! They have great food and breakfast all day. If you’re hungry don’t hesitate to choose the Breakfast House!
A regular for us… Foods typically good Service is usually good Atmosphere needs a lot of work!! C’mon guys, I’ve been going there for years and you literally haven’t updated anything
Great food, great service. Even though they were short handed, the waitress made sure our order was çorrect and that we had everything we needed. Breakfast order was great, and the burger was even better. Good size portions and the prices are decent. Will definitely be one of our go to places in the future. Burgers here are tasty as well. Give the sunrise burger with a sunny side up egg on top a try.
Great food and good prices. I love local restaurants. I had the fried chicken and biscuits, they were delicious. I ordered my eggs over medium, at most places they either come out a little over easy or completely hard. Let me tell you though, these eggs were the most perfect over medium I've seen in a restaurant. Do yourself a favor and go try this place. Good coffee too.
Food was great, service was quick, and the coffee was great! It was pretty vusy when went for breakfast, but our waitress was great about serving our coffee quickly and she knew how to work around the room. Eggs were cooked perfectly and the seasoning of the sausage gravy was excellent. Great little Cafe/diner to visit while on the road!
A very casual home style restaurant. The waitresses & hostesses are very friendly. In the past year, I have become a regular for breakfast.
The waitress was excellent and very friendly. Great service. Pretty good omelet just wish it was bigger. Will come back next time I'm in the area
I love it they got great food they're never packed the quickest service very good tasty food and a great price with it
Never get to eat out to much so today was a treat. Had a great server, enormous food portions, amazing food, and a good time with a friend 💜 I always love coming here. 100/10 recommend!!
I was pleasantly surprised with this place! I was told about this place from a coworker. He told me that the location off of 289 is the better location, he has never tried the 50th street location because no one is ever at that location when he goes by it. So, this is my experience at the location close to 289. This place is an old school restaurant. Not a whole lot of fancy atmosphere, just good conversation with friends and family. Our waitress promptly took our order. Shortly thereafter our food was brought to our table. It was hot, fresh and amazing! My whole party was wry happy with our food! The only bad thing about this place is you cannot stay long because there is a line of folks trying to get a table. No one ran us out or asked us to leave though. Very friendly folks and great food!
We stopped in on Friday night. There was only one other couple there. Unfortunately we did not look at their closing hour. There was only 1 waitress and she was very friendly and seated us quickly. We had a party of 4 adults and two children. We all ordered from the breakfast menu and it was fantastic. The waitress was very good and the cook actually knew what over medium was all about. I’m sure they were under staffed and yet they did a great job. Based on this visit we will try them again.
Damn fine country breakfast in a unpretentious old diner frequented by the people you'd expect to be in a place like this. The pumpkin pancake was fantastic, the rest of the breakfast was very good; service was prompt and friendly. I strongly recommend this place if you're looking for a rib-stickin' breakfast and some great people watching. PS - go for the Lubbock celebrity pictures, if nothing else: John Denver went to Texas Tech, who knew? Meatloaf (yes, THAT Meatloaf) spent time at Lubbock Christian!!
Food was good, service fast and friendly! Highly recommend for breakfast.
Menu has a large selection of types of breakfast ,lunch, and dinner items , staff are personal and professional more than just a yob ,atmosphere is not commercialized but personal with personality ,a place picky picky will find something on menu so you can enjoy your meal
Number 1, in my book! Great homestyle cooking and will not break the bank! Their coffee is freshly brewed! I tried the bacon and egg tacos and they the spot. Accompanied by an order of home fries and pico de gallo...this wonderful dish rounded out my morning and jump started my day! Stop by Lubbock's Breakfast House next time you fancy a wonderful breakfast!
Absolutely great place to go eat. Walked in was treated great by the waitress and she took care of me right away and did a great job the whole time I was there, just super friendly and kind. The place kind of reminds me of a country diner. Lots of great food as well with great flavor. Truly an American place. Give this place a try it will be worth it!.
This is one of my fave breakfast places in Lubbock. The food is delicious and the service is good.
Great place for brunch and meetings. Quick and friendly staff.
Little hidden hole in the wall. Breakfast was excellent and tasty. The service was great and they accommodated every ask I had. Definitely coming back.
Casino sized portions for some of the best prices in town. This will become a regular stop for breakfast!! Great decor in a diner style restaurant and the staff is busy efficient and on top of their game. This place was voted the best for a reason.
Excellent food. Customer service perfect. Server great
Good food, fair prices and fast service even when the place was crowded.
I love this place! It was definitely a pleasure after having dealt with the service at the previous restaurant we'd attempted to eat at. Here, they are always friendly and the food is great. If there are any issues with the food, which rarely happens, they are quick to fix it. They get tables cleaned up right away to get people seated as quickly as possible. We come here every Sunday and highly recommend it. They have a little of everything and great service too. Who could ask for more?
Five star down home food with the even more rare 5 star customer service....this breakfast house is truly what I call a double threat. If you don’t believe me about how great the food is well the pictures I’ve attached prove that lol and as far as the customer service we’ll you’ll just have to experience that yourself. I can guarantee coming down will not be a regret... your definitely more than likely going to have a wait during peak hours but staff cleans tables quickly and efficiently so you won’t wait long....but back to the food SWEET POTATOES PANCAKES...I almost cried they were so good and hot that cold butter just melts no need to put in between the cakes to soften no these cakes come HOT!! Off the grill and the STEAK OMELETTE WITH ACTUAL Thick cut slices of steak best I’ve ever had. I can make you only two promises when it comes to this gem... One you won’t leave hungry and two you’ll be treated right the first time with out question GREAT PLACE TO EAT!!!
Food was delicious. Waiter was very attentive and friendly. Superb customer service.
Great food and service. The everything waffle had the meats inside the waffle. The fried chicken and waffle was great tasting. The chicken was moist and the waffle was light and fluffy.
Good old hole in the wall cafe serving real breakfast. No fancy coffee here. Big portions and delicious. Waitstaff was very friendly and attentive. If we ever get back out this way, we will definitely be stopping here!
I had the Garden Omelete w/ egg whites- the best egg white omelet I've had ever! Husband liked his regular Garden omelet, son had pork chop breakfast, a bit salty, but he also enjoyed his meal. Daughter had Big Boy breakfast and liked it as well. Sherri (sp?) was great at taking care of us. Hostess was also great too!
We have been wanting to try Lubbock's Breakfast House & Grill on University for awhile now so we took a shot and my, my, my! We were not disappointed! From the service, to the food, to the cleanliness. Our experience was a great one. We were so impressed we went two days in a row and both days were equally enjoyable! Gloria and Demi, our servers, were really sweet and attentive. Those ladies work their tails off making sure everyone is well taken care of. They kept our coffee cups topped off and hot, as was our food. The only exception being the biscuits and gravy which were cold when we got them which they rectified, not enough to deduct a star in my opinion. Try the Pork chop and eggs with the home fried potatoes, the Chicken biscuits and gravy, or the Ham, green chili and cheese omelette. They were all delicious! Y'all have new customers for life anytime we're in town that's for certain!
YUMMM !!! Dined in for breakfast with friends Sunday morning June 4, 2023. Easy to find, easy access to highway and plenty of parking. Has the well worn look of a place frequented and loved by many. We were seated immediately and had the friendliest waitress. The menu is massive- so many delicious options. Our orders were taken correctly and delivered quickly- within 10-15 minutes. Everything was scrumptious. Family friendly atmosphere. Highly recommend! Hope we get to dine here again one day.
The food here is very delicious and it is served out quickly. Gloria, our waitress, was very friendly and had a very positive attitude/ personality. My coffee ☕ was refilled 3x and I never had an empty cup. Definitely 2 thumbs-up 👍 for a breakfast house / diner food.
Tastes like you cooked it at home! Portions are more than generous and the staff is super friendly and helpful. This is our second time here.

The biscuits and gravy tasted like my grandmas. The Pocahontas French toast was the best French toast I’ve ever had. Next time we are passing through Lubbock this is a must.

Food was good. Service was a hot mess. Couldn’t get seated as no one seems to know what is going on. Timing on food coming out wasn’t right at all food came for some of us then the rest trickled out. Would eat here again in a togo capacity only.
Food is great, staff is great, environment is a little crowded but still a nice little mom and pop vibe. Would recommend if you haven't been!
Excellent menu! The staff was extremely pleasant. Id definately go back. 4 stars on food quality because the biscuits were a bit more dry than i prefer. Service 4 stars because they were so busy, our waitress got a little behind. It took too long to get tea and coffee refills. Atmosphere 4 stars because it is pretty tight inside and its kind of loud. Again, none of these things would play a roll in me not wanting to return, but were noticable enough to go 4 of 5 on the stars. Its a great place and i recommend a visit.
First time. Stopped by for brunch. It was busy, but we were seated very quickly. Our waitress was nice and very quick. I had the strawberry pancakes. They were ok. Just to many strawberries for me. I'm picky about my eggs and didn't like how these had a moist texture to them.
Its just overall a good place to grab a bite in the morning in lubbock. Conviniently on the loop, good prices, good service, plenty of parking. Nothing really stands out but i've never had a bad experience here either
Food is always fresh! Service is great depending on if you arrive during a rush or not, it may vary slightly. Food can be under seasoned at times but overall good. Worthwhile breakfast stop!
It was a busy Saturday morning, but we had a relatively short wait. Food was good, although they could have served slightly larger portions for the price of the meals. One downside, we were seated in an area that was a step up from the main floor of the bldg. It was not clearly marked, and my brother took a fall. Luckily, the only thing injured was his pride. I would go there again when in Lubbock.
Very good breakfast. So many choices!
The best thing I loved about this place was the price. Early bird special is worth the price! I did have to return my eggs because they were undercooked. But the next ones were cooked properly. The coffee is good, and the service was OK. But for a little breakfast café the price is fantastic.
Great old school place. Awesome service. Great food. Big portions. Little noisy and bit dirty. Entrance gets cramped too easy. We actually asked if there was a back way out LOL.
Normally the waffles are amazing, but yesterday must've been an off day. I've had omelettes, biscuits, pancakes - all have been alright. The service is always really great though - I don't think just any waitress could hack it. They're always very friendly, quick with requests and very accommodating of larger parties.
It’s was fairly busy when I visited the restaurant. However, the wait wasn’t too long. We got some onion rings for starter and it came out pretty fast. However, we weren’t offered any extra plates to share the food and we weren’t able to find our waitress. Other than that, your food was delicious and filling. The eggs are perfectly cook to our request.

Understaffed and dirty. The restaurant smelled sour like someone mopped with a soured water. A nasty place to eat. The morning regulars have obviously lost their sense of taste and smell. Any good …
Service was superb but food was bland and burnt. The bacon had prob been sitting for an hour or so. The prices don't match the quality or portion sizes.
I don't normally write reviews but I felt very compelled to do so after seeing a waitress take a plate of eggs and bacon, stick it in a microwave behind the bar, and continuously stick her fingers …
I placed an order over the phone. I got home and it was not what I ordered. It is so frustrating when you get home and it's not what you ordered. Someone needs to pay better attention to the orders. And I left a tip. Will not do that again. I called all they did was apologize, didn't act like they even cared about the mistake.
Google maps told me this location was a waffle house until the moment I pulled into the parking lot. Guess I can’t blame the restaurant unless they figured out how to manipulate Google maps results.
Six to eight table choices on where to sit and they were all dirty. I sat down at a booth which was dirty and the first waitress that came over walked off with a big sigh when I asked her to clean the table. The next waitress came over didn't have a problem wiping the table off. The decaf coffee was great. Ordered our food. The cheese omelet was good but my fried eggs were crusty around the edge as if they were cooked too quick. Hash browns were good and toast was perfect. It was an average visit because of the waitress' attitude, dirty tables, and overall food quantity. We got there about 7:40 and it was not busy but the empty tables filled up by about 8:15. Average will not keep the doors open. We have been there many times and stopped eating there because it's very inconsistent.
A blast from the past like frozen in time from the 70s and 80s loved it. Service here was excellent. Had myself set up for the food to be above average but was basically the same as anywhere else. I was disappointed but it was still good food. I love places like this but I wouldn't go back.
It was ok, the pancakes were flat and chicken fried steak was like a gummy consistency, gravy straight out of box. Have 2 stars in hopes they have better food items. Definitely not cheap either.
I only had coffee but the ladies were nice, the customers conversational and the location easy to get to.
We had a kid’s pancake, chicken and waffles, eggs Benedict and omelette with sweet potato pancakes. We would order again the omelette and sweet potato pancakes and the kids pancake was super cute (sweet potato pancakes tasted better). The chicken on the chicken and waffles was over cooked and dry. Our service experience was good. This review is based on one visit while passing thru Lubbock.
Definitely a very busy place. Expect a 20 minute wait if you don't get there super early. Food was mediocre definitely fast. The peanut butter pancakes was good, but the sausage and gravy needed so…
Haven’t eaten here in several years and I thought I’d give it another try on a weekday morning around 9:30am. Place was fairly busy but no wait for a table. There aren’t that many full-service breakfast opportunities in Lubbock and this location is very convenient for me. Unfortunately, the experience was sub-par. I had chicken biscuits with eggs, home fries, and link sausage (not real cased link sausage either). A small piece of fried chicken was sandwiched in each of the two biscuits. They were topped with a very meager portion of cream gravy. The biscuits and chicken might actually have been pretty good if they had been freshly prepared. Instead, you could tell they had been sitting around a good while. Chicken was very dry and the biscuits were kind of tough too. The home fries were really bad; old, tough, and greasy. The fried eggs were OK and the coffee wasn’t bad. Service was borderline acceptable. I may give them one more chance and order something like an omelette next time, which can’t be prepared ahead of time and left just warmed over. However, as it stands now, I really can’t recommend Lubbock’s Breakfast House and Grill.
The food was not good. Eggs and potatoes came out cold. The cheese that was placed on top would not even melt it was so cold. Pancakes and waffles had no taste. The sausage links appeared to be the pre-cooked, frozen kind and were not good.
06/20/25- After reading such good reviews we found ourselves very disappointed after eating here. We had a rude server, runny over hard eggs and a doughy waffle. The rest of the food was just average.
Potatos were cooked in old oil. Food luke warm at best. And over 40$ for 2 people to eat breakfast! In Lubbock there is definitely better food and better prices. The best thing about our time there was the server. She was awesome. Without her the rating from me would have been less.
If disappointment had a flavor, it’d be the breakfast I got at Lubbock Breakfast House & Grill. The pancakes were the only thing that didn’t make me question my life choices. The scrambled eggs, hash browns, and sausage tasted like the chef was having a personal crisis. On the bright side, our waitress Abby deserves a medal for keeping a straight face while serving it. Five stars for her, one star for surviving the meal.
First time wanting to try something new with my family. Nothing special about drinks, decently made. Food was okay despite the minor issues like not being notified about certain ingredients, the size of food portions and the photo of the slice of “Texas bread” with no butter. Waitress did not ask us once if our food was okay and much attitude (Paula latina maam) don’t mind the food but maybe try another location for a better experience.
Poor food quality, and coffee was disgusting and watered down. Very mediocre place and overpriced.
The service was amazing. Sadly the food was horrible! I had the eggs Benedict and hash browns. Food must have been out of date. The waitress was nice enough to take my plate off the ticket. I wil…
Do not go to any lubbock breakfast house. I got food poisoning on multiple occasions from these people.
We were a party of four. My son ordered biscuits and gravy, my husband ordered loaded sweet potato pancakes(sausage and bacon cooked in the pancake batter), my mother-in-law ordered loaded sweet potato pancake as well, I ordered the Sunrise Burger which includes a sunny side up egg that sits on the top bun. Our waitress brought out the food,my husbands order was incorrect, MIL’s order was correct as well as my sons. I was told that my burger was coming soon. Well my party ate half their food before my burger made its way out. Once I received my burger, I picked up the top bun that had the egg on it and when I did there was still half uncooked egg whites on the bun as if it never touched the grill or pan. I notified a waitress that wasn’t our original waitress because she was nowhere to be found. I showed her the egg and the waitress immediately took my plate back and said it would be corrected. Which they should because raw egg can cause sickness due to salmonella bacteria. Our original waitress came back with the egg “corrected”. Because I was already aware of unsafe cooking practices, I double checked the bun, well raw egg was still clinging to the bun that had the “corrected” egg on it. All they did was scrape off the uncooked egg and served it on the same contaminated bun. I then notified the hostess of the raw egg and she took the plate back to the kitchen. Mind you, the rest of the party has finished their food at this point. The waitress came back out and asked if they could cook the egg over easy, I said yes, no problem. About three minutes later, my burger comes out and there was still raw egg whites on the bun. At this point, I didn’t want to say anything anymore because they did not show that they cared the first three times. I ended up eating my burger without the top bun. We also waited at our table for about ten minutes because we never received a ticket to take to the register. After they gave me my burger, we never were asked if any of our drinks needed refills or asked if everything was okay. We ended up going to the counter without a ticket and the hostess nor manager ever apologized about the inconvenience. It’s $7 and some change to take a food safety course that anybody in the food industry is required to take especially when half of it deals with preventing salmonella outbreaks. This is one of our favorite restaurants and have been here four times in the last month. Because this deals with a serious issue, I felt it was important to review. Also, I was not showing attitude or such during this entire visit, I showed kindness and respect and didn’t cause a scene.
Mediocre food and experience. One of us was served spoiled food.
They don’t deserve the one star I gave it. The place is rundown and looks sketchy. The old waitresses are rude and have zero manners and shouldn’t be working with the public if they don’t know how to. At their age, they should possess a modicum of class but clearly they weren’t raised right. We sat down and waited 15 minutes before we decided to leave since no one was acknowledging us at all. When we decided to leave, one of the old hags made a face, huffed and acted like we were the ones in the wrong. Horrible place, will never return.
The food we received was cold and bland. The pancakes and bacon taste like a school lunch. Service is fine and the wait was short.
Our server was not itttt. It instantly started weird when she came up twice asking if we were ready to order when we were clearly looking at our menus. Then when we stuck the menus to the side it took 10 minutes for her to come back to us. Idk if somebody was ugly to her or what but her attitude completely changed. Seemed like she was annoyed with us. Then she kept glaring at me everytime I would say thank you. She didn’t refill our drinks once. She literally forgot my waffle that I ordered and we didn’t get it until we were done eating. The food was dry and unseasoned, which breaks my heart bc I’ve always LOVED the quality of food here. Said she’d put to go syrups in with the waffle since we were on our way out and she didn’t even do that. Took her 15 minutes to bring a cup of black coffee out. The food tasted like it had been just sitting there forever before we got it. I’m so so disappointed with our experience considering we paid $50+. The mozzarella sticks were $8.99 for six. Not even hot when we got them. We tipped $8 and that still felt like too much for the service we experienced. This place needs some TLC. All of the other servers seemed so nice I genuinely thought about asking for a different one. I HATE leaving bad reviews, but somebody needs to seriously check this food quality out bc it used to be AMAZING and worth the money.
This place was absolutely disgusting. Our coffee was cold. The pancakes were not fully cooked. And the fruit looked and tasted like it had been in the fridge for over a week. 0/10 would not recommend.
We were screamed at as we walked out of this restaurant that we have been regular customers for quite a number of years. We spoke to the manager initially about our cold breakfast. Which was long enough for a turn new around of customers. We were hungry, and it happens to everyone at some time in life. We got our breakfast and it was completely cold. Why? I asked the waitress. They reheated my wife plate and it was uneatable. Im not paying 30 plus dollars for cold pancakes. He said he was sorry and brought another breakfast in record time. The pancakes were raw in the middle. We had been there long enough. I informed him that I was not paying. To have the manager come out enraged screaming not to not ever come back here again. "I know your face. They say you always have a complaint." Which is false. I was speechless of such a total lack of people skills that this person has working as a manager. Acting this way in front of people coming in. I'm a business owner, and the thought of having one of my customers see this. I appreciate my customers. Hope your business doesn't go broke for throwing out cold food.
I have been visiting this restaurant since I was 7 years old and have always loved it however the way I was treated by this joke of an establishment was no only inappropriate but also completely disappointing. I know y’all don’t care about losing my business as a 23 year old but y’all should at least care about losing your class. A 60 year old woman got in my face and threatened to fight me because I cleaned my own table so I could have a window seat so that I wouldn’t interrupt two very busy waitresses. Very demure
I have never had a bad experience there until today... It cost $40 & took 45 mins for us to get really bad food. I think the bacon was rancid & the biscuits were not cooked all the way & the gravy tasted bad. The cheese on his breakfast sandwich was foul. Neither of us finished our meals. Before we knew the food was bad, we ordered a sandwich to go. I have included a picture of what is supposedly an avacado on the to go sandwich.... My friend that was with me is already sick - I guess he got food poisoning. Very disappointing - I used to love that place.
Absolutely awful experience! I ordered an eggs Benedict and my egg was not only stove top cooked instead of poached but also over hard and my friends over easy eggs were also over Hard! Will not be going back!
Service was great, but we had five people at our table and all of us agreed the food was bland. The pancakes were the only good-tasting item. Everything else seriously is not worth the money. The food is overpriced and it is really not good. I hate leaving a bad review, I really do, but unfortunately the food was just terrible despite the great service. My father had the Mega Breakfast and it was everything but mega. He said the food was plain. My mother had eggs, hashbrowns, bacon, and pancakes. She said everything tasted plain. My grandmother had the omelet, which she said was flat and had no flavor. My husband had steak and eggs. He said the steak was the worst he has ever had and the eggs were undercooked. I had the breakfast burrito. It had uncooked onions and bell peppers on top soaked in salsa, and it was hard to eat. The taste simply was not good. Again, I truly do not like leaving bad reviews because I try to see the good in things, but the only good thing here was the service.
