Really enjoyed our visit there. Nice team and lovely spot. A coach load of people arrived at one point from a cruise ship but i suppose no restaurant can refuse that level of injection of cash. Food was good!

Positives: The restaurant was away from the large crowd of tourists but was still close enough to the shops. The service was punctual and the food (along with prices) was very good. The atmosphere was serene and very laid back with a great beach swing for relaxing and amazing pictures. The business population appeared to be more of regular locals and only a few tourists as not many seemed to know about this location. Negatives: although the service was punctual and attentive, the waitress (maybe a mid 20 yr old female family owner, who had a brother named Nemar) REALLY appeared to try and pull the wool over our eyes and go up on prices when we went to pay our final tab. She was called out on each item we bought and didn’t argue with us when we confronted her. She played dumb. Earlier that day, she also told us if we eat at the restaurant and use them for the snorkeling excursion (which was incredibly reasonable in cost), she would include free bike rentals for the family. I confirmed this with her multiple times to ensure we both had an understanding. After snorkeling, ordering a snack & drinks, we told her we were ready to bicycle around the town for a bit. She then told us we would need to pay extra for the bikes as that was not included. We chose not to ride and gave her the benefit of the doubt that maybe there really was just a miscommunication due to the language barrier. However after the prices went up on us at the end on our tab, we could see she really thought she could pull a fast one on us. Despite the negatives, I would still recommend this place as it really was a beautiful, serene location with good food. However, just be cautious and pay attention to the final bill as they can be quick to try and be sneaky with you thinking you don’t know any better. I think most restaurants and peddlers do this in this area, so it’s kinda hard to not be subjected to someone at least trying this tactic on you at some point.

As we arrived in Mahahual, locals highly recommend the Sulumar restaurant. We walked about 6 small blocks at the beautiful beach. Sitting is at the beach. Not a fancy Mexican food,, just regular Mexican food. The food was good, guacamole very good. Octopus nachos very good. It is not pricey at all.

The good: portion size, guacamole and frozen margarita both excellent, great and friendly service The bad: I had ceviche de camarons yesterday evening and have been awake most of the night with vomiting and diarrhoea. Not happy about that.

Maybe you shouldn't eat burgers at a fish restaurant, but they were simply not good. And cold. The shrimps I had tasted good, not a big meal though. Waiters not so friendly.

They waiters look miserable and unhappy, what they did is they never came to take an order while they were serving new customers around us. Something like an internal joke idk...We felt awkward and left the place that obviously is like a fast food. They made our day actually we had fantastic food few spots further. Most probably they work 12+ hours the same people they are kind of pathetic..

Tricked us. Bought a 1kilo fish but received a tiny portion. Were told it was about 800gr (not true) and still charged for a whole kilo. Charged for more than what was delivered. Taste mediocre. Don't go here.
