Opiniones de Marfa Burrito Marfa
Marfa Burrito is a true West Texas icon, where the charm lies in its no-frills atmosphere and the sight of Ramona Tejada hand-rolling oversized, pillowy tortillas right in front of you. The Gordo burrito is the undisputed heavyweight of the menu—a massive, soulful hug of a breakfast burrito stuffed with perfectly seasoned eggs, potatoes, beans, and cheese. It’s a messy, authentic masterpiece that perfectly captures the Marfa’s rugged yet welcoming spirit; just remember to bring an appetite big enough to match the name. The back outdoor seating area is also an absolutely perfect place to spend an hour in the spring and fall seasons. Highly recommend!
Marfa Burrito is one of those rare places that becomes part of your personal Marfa story. I have been coming here for breakfast every single time I visit Marfa, and it never disappoints. These are the legendary Marfa burritos people talk about—huge, handmade breakfast burritos, fresh tortillas, simple ingredients, bold flavors, and zero pretense. This is authentic West Texas comfort food at its best, served fast, hot, and with heart. This spot also holds real meaning for me beyond the food. About seven years ago, I painted my “Pájaro” on the outside wall—art is fleeting in Marfa, and it was eventually painted over, which somehow feels perfectly appropriate for a town that embraces impermanence and creativity. Last year, I returned and placed a Pájaro sticker on the door window, and I’m happy to say it’s still there, quietly living on as part of the place. That alone says something about the soul of this restaurant and the community around it. If you’re searching for the best breakfast in Marfa, a local favorite, or a true Marfa food landmark, this is it. Expect a cash-only, no-frills setup, a friendly line of locals and travelers, and walls layered with history, photos, and stories. Come early, bring an appetite, and don’t overthink it—Marfa Burrito is not just a meal, it’s a Marfa tradition.
An iconic eatery in the small town, get the breakfast burrito and sit outside, enjoying the temperate climate that Marfa enjoys!
What a fantastic Gem of a find. You won't go away hungry, Burritos are on point and filling even for a fat man like me. Staff super friendly and kind with smiles all around. I ordered the Carne & Cuṅada Burritos. plenty of seating outside and more intimate inside. Sticker friendly as well as sharpie marker friendly ( keep it pg13 please). highly recommend this place and will visit again when in Marfa. Thank you Marfa Burritos 😊🏆🏆🏆🏆
This burrito was delicious! Great size of food! Fire sauces are delicious with the burritos. So good we got one to take back home with us on the road… Yummy!!!
This is the kinda place that makes you glad you're alive. I've eaten here a dozen times over the years. The food is simple and honest, cooked with love by a handful of friendly aunties who jabber in Spanish and laugh as they hand-make your tortilla. Usually something special on the menu. On my last visit, they handed me a fresh sopaipilla after I ordered. The fiery green salsa is exceptional. But otherwise, the food is very simple. You'll read some reviews where the reviewer didn't understand the hype. If you are the kind of person who is chasing hype, you may not find this place as enchanting as the rest of us. But, like Marfa, it's odd and wonderful and full of character, and that's the reason it has lured legends like Bourdain to sit at its tiny, wobbly tables and scarf down a burrito. To eat here is to partake in a rare, vanishing experience. (Oh...and they take cards and digital payment now. Probably the only thing that has changed in a couple decades.)
This place was really great. It is for sure one of my favorite places that I ate at while in Marfa. It was so good, we went twice. I got to try the Gordo, the asado, and the egg and chorizo. I highly recommend all of these. They were very tasty. The wait for for our food was not very long either. This is a must stop in Marfa!
I loved every single detail about this restaurant. The energy is amazing, and the employees are so polite and empathetic. The food is absolutely delicious. I would give it an 11 out of 10! The burritos, in particular, were packed with flavor, generous portions, and made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. Every bite was perfectly seasoned, with a great balance of textures. Honestly, one of the best burritos I’ve ever had! To top it all off, I had the honor of meeting Miss Ramona, and she and her family were the most welcoming people ever. They treated every Guapo and Guapa in such a warm and friendly way. Thank you!
Marfa Burrito is a must-visit spot in Marfa, Texas! The burritos are enormous and packed with flavor, all wrapped in freshly made tortillas that are simply delightful. The atmosphere is cozy and authentic, making you feel right at home. Highly recommend stopping by for an unforgettable meal!
What a cool place! The writing is on the wall (literally!) that a stop here means a great burrito. They're well priced, well portioned, delicious, and the salsa is just right without being too spicy (my partner disagrees with me on the heat level but I thought it was reasonably mild and very flavorful) Small but perfect menu, friendly staff, lots of seating, dog-friendly, and definitely worth checking out. I've got 1/2 a burrito for a snack on the road because they're super generously sized, and the homemade tortillas are killer. (Didn't grab any pics of the food because we were starving but the walls here are awesome!)
Holy cow! I did not expect this place to be this good. I was surprised that it wasn't busy at all at lunch on Friday. We walked right in, ordered and had our choice of seating. There are some tables inside but then a massive amount of outdoor seating in front, back or side. The asado (red chile pork) burrito was perfection. While it looked massive upon delivery, sandwiched in a styrofoam plate, it was somehow light and manageable...the perfect lunch. Don't miss this spot...
We went to two other restaurants that were closed and someone on the street recommended Marfa Burritos. The burritos were huge and great. The restaurant was easy to find and very casual. The cost seemed very reasonable.
Best start of the day! Burritos are LARGE and completely stuffed which makes eating them on the go quite an adventure. We decided to enjoy them at the place which is filled with memorabilia. And a picture with Matthew McConaughey. Service is quick, simple and to the point. Just as we like it.
Good substantial breakfast burritos with fresh tortillas. Indoor and outdoor seating. Looks like lots of familiar folks have been through, from Anthony Bourdain (RIP) to Matthew McConaughey. You can write on the walls to commemorate your trip to Marfa. In conclusion, it's alright, alright, alright.
Pros - Hole in the wall with local ambience which I like; friendly enough staff - not much interaction- ordered to go. Cons - $11 for a large tortilla and a scoop of chorizo is too high. Flavor was average for breakfast tacos - maybe I ordered the wrong thing. But from my experience in south Texas an average Stripes/Laredo has just as good breakfast tacos (sorry, can't call them burritos) and you can get 2 for $5.00. I'm probably a breakfast taco snob after having eaten them in San Antonio and the RGV for years. Next time I'm in Marfa I'm going to give the Stripes a shot.
The space has a great energy; the staff is nice. They even let our dog in when it was cold outside. However, everyone recommended this spot and it really fell flat for us. I don’t know if it was just an off day, but the burritos we got (cuñado and mike) lacked flavor. The green sauce they came with was nice and spicy and provided any flavor we got.
