If you miss (or dream of) the classic Hong Kong lunch spot, this is it. Located in the heart of NYC Chinatown. Its clean modern deco, and conversation able environment makes it the prefect place for a power lunch or catch up time with friends. The staff is kind and patient when you are overwhelmed with the extensive menu. Protip: take their suggestions. The menu covers Hong Kong style sandwiches and dumplings (plus more). Bonus a gorgeous bathrooms with heated toilet that made me weak in the knees. The Hong Kong tea is one to try. My understanding is at night it transforms into a Japanese restaurant. I'll have to come back for that experience.

Everyone that knows Chinatown knows Cha Kee. Delicious Hong Kong style food. The vibes are chill, there's plenty of seating, the staff are super nice and the food comes out super quick. Had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Baron. He is a chills and awesome dude and will make sure your visit went well.

It was nice at 11:30 am on a Thursday. Barely anyone there, but it got busier at 12 pm. Their food was good. Highly recommend the Fried Bean Curd and Pork over Rice. Nice and saucy. My friend got the Fish and Chicken fried rice.

We walked in here after crossing the Brooklyn Bridge, without a reservation but we were shown a table. At first, we weren't overly sure we felt quite welcome, with us being tourists in Chinatown but we were treated very well by our server who seemed friendly. If you do go here, myself and my travelling companions highly recommend the sweetcorn & mushroom (?) soup I think it was. Wow, it was absolutely delicious!

We usually dine in the morning for affordable authentic Hong Kong style breakfast, but we decided to try their dinner menu. We were happily surprised with their fun interpretations with many different styles of food that left with every plate fully savored and enjoyed. It is a completely different experience than the morning like if they transform at night to a more intimate dining room. We now have a new dinner place to eat. Their times are also expanded, Wed - Sun open to 3am.

Finally got to check out Cha Kee and it did not disappoint. Flavors were both unique and on point with good sized portions. The scallops, lobster bisque, and soy milk braised lettuce, and fried rice stood out the most and would recommend everyone try. We also tried the city beef triangles, xo shrimp, chicken wings, and sweet and sour pork bowl and belly. Staff was very friendly and attentive. What makes it even better is the high quality of food for an affordable price. Definitely recommend and looking forward to trying some of the other dishes.

We tried some other things here, but don’t have pictures for them. Butter with condensed milk toast was good. Fried bun with condensed milk was good. Milk teas were good. Beef chow fun was very tasty and silky. Beef chow mein was very good also. Usually don’t like chow mein too much, but their noodles were a bit on the softer side and I prefer that over the super crispy crunchy version. Didn’t like the pork chop onions on rice. It was bland. Their wings were okay. Overall, this place was way better than I expected, so I give it a solid 4.

Cha Kee is a HK Style Cha Chaan Teng located in the heart of NYC's Chinatown. They didn't have any physical menus when I went, however I assume you could ask for them if you don't have a mobile device. The service is quick and efficient, much easier to order things if you know Cantonese, but English works fine as well. The atmosphere is like a HK style cafe, with some big tables and smaller tables spread throughout. It would be best to come here with a party of around 3-5. The food was great. I came during brunch, so it was focused on HK style breakfast foods. The Porkchop over fries was crispy and not too oily. The Rice Cakes in XO Sauce had both a sweetness to it that was complimented well with the peanut sauce. The only thing that was kind of eh was the Salt & Pepper Vegetables. It was a little too salty for the taste, and it ended up overwhelming the dish. Overall a good place to visit if one of the other Cha Chaan Tengs are too crowded.

This restaurant hits as a Hong Kong style morning breakfast place. I always come here for the satay beef instant noodle dish, and it comes topped with a fried egg. If you're here early enough, you get a free drink with it too! The curry fish balls were also delicious, and the toast will bring you back to those days when that was the simplest thing to eat in the morning. The service can be a bit slow at times, but they're getting better.

I thought cha kee was quite good, especially if you're into Cantonese snacks and cuisine, this is a great place. I love the bolo bao with butter. It's flaky, lightly sweet and tasty. We were restaurant hopping so we only got small things here. The salt and pepper squid was really tasty, perfectly fried, not overly seasoned. The curry sauce on the curry fish balls was really good. The staff is pleasant and attentive

Food is good, portions are big (you will likely have leftovers), very reasonably priced for 2024 ($40 before tips for two entrees, a stir fry veggies and two drinks). It is a bit annoying that it's cash only. I get that credit card fees are expensive, but maybe allow Venmo or something.

Pretty decent experience, the food was alright, I wouldn’t say it blew my taste buds away. But if you want to enjoy a decent price for Hong Kong food, you should definitely give it a try. I had their tea, horrible choice, don’t try it. But their French bread was quite good. They only accept cash though so get get your money notes ready - pretty inconvenient since these days I just use my phone to pay.

My dish fish with cream sauce was ok but it was salty. The curry brisket with rice was ok but wasn’t that hot. My daughter loves her tom yum noodle soup and my wife likes the fried rice. The price was great for the type of food.

Food was good. Like a good HK cafe but disappointed because I ordered a peanut butter condensed milk toast and it’s completely missing the peanut butter ! However the service is good and the food was yummy.

I was not crazy about the food. But, that's just personal taste. The baked items with tomatoes sauce was a bit too sweet. The pork chop rice was good and so was the beef chow fun. Skip the curry, flavors were not to my taste at all. I went with a bunch of seniors and they thought the restaurant was too dark, they like fluorescent lighting and no atmosphere. Lol. I thought the interior was pleasant.

Really wanted some food similar to HK’s cha chan tang and this was the closest I could find. Rice noodle rolls were drenched in sauce, too sweet for my liking. The toast was typical and the milk tea needed more syrup, which we were given to add to our liking. Cream custard baos felt a bit too stiff, but flavorful. However, like other reviews found, service was lacking and the food felt uncompromising.

Came here around 12PM on Chinese New Year and the place was packed. Luckily, our party arrived before the wait became unreasonable. This was my second time here and I decided to try some of their lunch items instead of the HK style breakfast. Not sure if it was due to how crowded the place was but they kept getting our orders wrong (wrong drink, toast with peanut butter and condensed milk arrived without the peanut butter, someone else’s drink orders were delivered to our table, etc). Can’t even blame it on the waiter since you order through a QR code. I would definitely come back for their breakfast specials but it is cash only!

It's only an OK place for their quality over their price for dinner. Their kitchen did not make high quality menu, their lower price items were good, but those steak does not worth such price, like thier $120 tomahawk steak have to cook the bone and steak separately, and that aged steak does not taste like a 90 days aged steak. I like their lunch menu and offer much better than their high class dinner. Surely will only come back for lunch, for dinner, mostly not. Until they change their menu.

Came today for breakfast, the stay beef rice noodle is disgusting, beef was super soft with a weird herbal taste. I grew up in HK , so definitely not the HK style. Scramble egg was oily with a strong old oil smell. Service was quick and minimal during breakfast time. Milk tea was at par tho, but will not be back.

Come here if you want basic, cheap, and quick Chinese food. If you want a comfortable place to enjoy a meal, look elsewhere. It 12 degree out with wind chills in the negative and this place doesn't have their heat turned on. Customer are in jackets and I feel for the restaurant staff that has to stand around with the cold. This is not a way to run a business.

The food is good - not exceptional. The dining room is not clean. On the way out, I noticed the Grade Pending score from the Health Department. Overall, there is a strong sense of a place that maybe received a few good reviews when it opened, and is now resting on its laurels. There was clearly intended to be an open kitchen that was hastily sheet-rocked over. I felt bad for the servers trying to manage the operation while being obviously short staffed.

Date & time of visit: Tuesday, 10/21/2025 at 10:45am Today was my first time visiting Cha Kee with my family since when it used to be Cha Chan Tang. My family and I walked in looking forward to have breakfast here. There wasn’t a sign about waiting to be seated or person at the front when we came in. My Dad, who is a senior then went ahead walking toward a table then the lady staff appeared and came toward us. We asked if we can sit at the table with the booth and she responded with, “I’m seating you now aren’t I?” in a rude tone and expression on her face. The rest of our dine-in experience was like this. This lady also took our order. I don’t know if she is having a bad day or what’s going on with her. She made us feel like we’re annoying or she is tired of working there? I don’t know what. We hoped the food will at least be decent to make up for it but it didn’t really =/ Food: The bread served with Western Set meal was rock hard. Restroom: Decent bathroom. Best part of dine-in experience. It was a very disappointing experience overall especially by the lady in the front that served us ruined it. Side note: My family and I were going to head to a funeral after this.
