Had been on my list of places to visit and it did not disappoint. The food was good, the drink was delicious once we mixed it. I was getting a bit of motion sickness from the boat rocking but tolerable.

Oh wow, what a fantastic experience! We loved the atmosphere (a converted fire boat), the food was delicious, and the staff was stellar. Our waitress was Hannah (from Ireland). She was so attentive, friendly and helpful. We sat on the top deck of the restaurant, but then it began to rain. Hannah moved us to the lower deck and didn’t miss a beat. Even though the restaurant was really busy, she made sure we were comfortable and that our food found us. We had a great lunch…thank you so very much, Hannah!

Gorgeous boat with a ton of seating options and areas and good, reasonably-priced food! Great for big groups because of space and also because you order at the bar and everyone pays for themself.

Cool, trendy boat restaurant on the pier. Love the ship theme and is a must do for anyone living in NYC. Staff is kind, food prices and drink are fair for NYC. Had the fish and chips with their fry pan beer. Pretty yummy and a fun time with amazing views!

Lovely food. Absolutely love that there are so many Irish staff here working on their J1. Megan was brilliant at her job. Give her a bonus.

Beautiful restaurant boat at Chelsea pier. Friendly environment and great service. My friends and I had an amazing time along with great food. And the view was breathtaking. I will most definitely come back here next summer:)

The most magical place on earth. I say that because I met my husband here at the frying pan 11 years ago on a fateful night. We now have a little family. The frying pan made it all happen. Thank you for bringing people together, in the best way possible. Please don’t ever close!

My favorite place for after work sangrias! Their food is delicious, sangrias are well worth the price, and the atmosphere feels like a movie. Sometimes there will be a band or they will take the red boat out. Always a great time!!!

Our go to spot on a beautiful spring or summer day, especially around sunset. Completely unique, this restaurant and bar on a literal boat doubles as a romantic date spot or a fun party hang with a group. The food is great, simple but delicious bar burgers and appropriate seafood plates. We love the fish and chips! Tons of fun mixed drink options, beer, and wine as well. Very reasonably priced especially considering you’re on a docked boat in Manhattan with incredible views. They’re handling post pandemic very well, in fact we kind of preferred it. Normally we just walk in and search for a table, but now you’re asked to reserve a spot when you arrive and they send you a text when it’s time. You’ll be escorted to a table where you order everything from your phone and they bring it to you. The service was INCREDIBLY fast. So fast we joked that it could only have come quicker if they’d read our minds. Did I mention it’s a boat? 🤣 A must visit for New Yorkers and tourists alike.

My husband and I hosted a casual post city hall wedding gathering here for friends and were not disappointed! Working with Zumrut, Alyse, and the other staff members was a great experience. The food and view was great! We would come back if we were organizing another event.

First time ever coming to this place. It's not easily noticeable that it's a resturant. Was walking near High line park and noticed this is a option to eat on a boat. When you walk in you see a giant frying pan which is cool because goes with it's name. You walk in and a lady greets you and ask for your I.D. to make sure your over 21+ if you are under 21 they will give you a wrist band from what the server at the bar Sasha informed me. As you walk further in, they have some historic pictures and information. You will see a bar, where I was greeted again by Sasha who btw was awesome! Informed her that my fiance, my mom & myself are new, & never been here before. She informed about the boat, they have seating on the roof if you wanna see the water better. They also do private parties in the back. There menu was a good selection of americana food. My fiance is seriously allergic to shell fish and made sure nothing was cooked next to it and added the note to her salmon burger she ordered. Sasha made you feel welcomed! Sasha went out her way for my table and I truly appreciate her and all those at the frying pan. They are pleasant and kind. If you are ever in the area and want to think of grabbing a bite to eat somewhere.. please come check it out you won't regret it! Also have pictures of the adventure along with this review.

Love the vibe, you can watch sunset on this giant boat. The bar is the best, love all the drinks especially the signature white sangria, the appetizers are so-so. But given the prices, this is a solid place for dates, for family and friends. Will come back next time!

A fun getaway in our home turf (or is that home surf?). Good draft beers, fun cocktails like the Spicy Watermelon Rita, and good seafood fare plus salads and burgers for the non-fish lovers. Multiple doors and levels to sit, both outside and covered. A fun time.

I have been frequenting here for a couple years now and it is hard to believe this is the first review that I’ve left… But during nice weather this place is amazing great place to have drinks have a conversation and enjoy some good food by listening to music on the water… Highly recommend

This is a cool pier restaurant that comes with a (slightly) moving deck, decent food and great waitstaff. We came on a cold, rainy June day but still loved it here. The view of the city alone it worth it, but the unique dining shipboard with a diverse, fun atmosphere make it even better. I like that you can choose to order at the bar and pickup your food or choose table service :) Thanks for a great Sunday afternoon!

S

Amazing food with great views and atmosphere. (Heads up) if you get sea sick, go on a sunny day without strong waves hitting the shore. Since you are on water, there's some movement back and forth happening. AMAZING lobster roll and fish and chips. Calamari was alright.

G
Graham Short

We had the boat to ourselves it seemed. The ambience was so pleasant we stayed for hours watching the sky darken, as night fell. You can buy beers from the pier and bring them on board. Everything about it was magical. The gentle movement of the vessel was calming too.

This is always on my list of stops while in the city. It's on an old railroad ferry with the tracks still on it. It also has an Erie old caboose on the rail. The restroom is located down below where the old communication systems are still intact behind metal cages. Just all around great history. The view is spectacular. It's right on the water with several levels to sit and admire the cityscape of NYC and NJ. Out in the distance the statue of liberty can be seen. The drinks are fabulous. Can't say enough about this hidden treasure!

G

Great venue for summer drinking! Go in the evening for the sunset, views are spectacular. The place is big with plenty of seating, we went on a warm Sunday evening and had no issues finding a table upstairs. Life music. Good is good and they have a great selection of beers.

D
Diana Miguel Álvarez López

This place is an absolute must during sunset! It's set right on a dock with stunning sea views no matter where you sit, perfect for a laid-back, scenic meal. The lobster was tasty, but the mussels were next level! I’m definitely coming back every time I’m in NYC.

Food was great (fish & chips were awesome), so were the cocktails. Sitting on the upper deck was a bit quieter than being on the main level.

Awesome atmosphere and location for anyone interested in a unique New York experience. We had great food, drinks, and scenery on the top floor of the boat. Definitely need to bring sun glasses with you and try to come early because it started getting busy by the time we left around 6-6:30.

Sweet spot to spend an afternoon. It has beautiful views and a variety of different places to sit and eat and drink. The place feels very trendy and stylish. Saturdays and Sundays are usually packed with lots of young, well dressed, good looking people. But it's also a great place to go as a couple, friends, or family, if they don't mind the crowd. Drinks and food are not cheap but not terribly expensive either.

L

A must for NYC Visitors! Super yummy food with million dollar views. It’s self serve and a family of 4 can eat and drink for under $100. Not sure where the poor service reviews are coming from. Amazing historic boat now a restaurant.

All bro jokes aside and I’d like to make lots of bro jokes, I inevitably end up here once a year and this place has lots of space, lots of seating, lots of outdoor space obviously and great views of the city. It’s always a great vibe when it’s nice out. Yeah it’s not the cheapest and it’s a little touristy but who cares. I always have a good time here. Food isn’t the best but adequate bar food to go with average drink selections.

If you are looking for a place to have a meal by the coast with friends, family or a loved one this the place to go. Their fish and chips and calamari was very good. Seating is located in the front, back (for self service) and upstairs. I had a great time there and plan on returning soon

Very cool spot on the river where you can sit on either the boat or the platform. Good selection of drinks and ultimately a vibes spot.

J
Jeremy Plunkett

It was a pretty cool environment, especially with them being able to sit us directly along the water on the pier. I tried the fish and chips and loved the malt vinegar powder sprinkled over it. The flavor was great with and without the tartar sauce, and the portions were plenty enough for me (I'm a big eater). My wife got the lobster roll, which had huge pieces of lobster and wasn't too mayonnaise-y. We also shared the calamari, which was a little chewy, but overall well-breaded and had a tasty, tangy, dipping sauce.

The views here are absolutely STUNNING!!! I can’t express enough how gorgeous the views are in every single direction you look!! The food is soo good too especially the lobster rolls and shrimp ceviche super fresh and flavorful my favorite!! The vibes are truly perfect especially with a nice drink and a cool breeze off the water. Highly recommend

Took my cousin here for her first mother’s day and the food was delicious. The staff is soooo kind. They have outlets to charge your phone (just bring your own brick & wire). The view is calm and pretty, there’s a helicopter landing pad nearby so you will see helicopters fly in and out JSYK. It didn’t interrupt our conversations too badly, though. I was also surprised that birds didn’t linger AT ALL but they do a good job of shielding the tables with large umbrellas. The pricing of everything is incredible and if you split it, it’s easily affordable. That had to be some of the best calamari I have EVER had!!

Frying Pan's Manhattan location, which is situated near Pier 66 at Hudson River Park, is a great spot to enjoy a cocktail + bite on an outdoor boat deck!! Their marg, the Watermelon-Rita, is really fresh and delicious. For snacks, the Olives & Pickles and their side of fries are perfect small bites. The staff here are great, too! :-) Elyse (the manager who we met - I hope I'm spelling her name correctly) was so kind & accommodating, as was our server!! The views from the top deck are incredible (as pictured). Our group had a great experience - will 100% be back!

D

Fantastic food and even better service. The service is a different concept than I have ever experienced. You order your drink and food at the bar. Take your drink along with to any table of your choice and little alert machine for when your food is ready. Which is veryquick!!! Pick it up at a kitchen which is next to the bar, still hot and it doesn’t get cold waiting for a server to bring it you. The views of the Hudson River are great. Great sunset!! I could go on and on about the people that work there. Talked to Manny the GM and I could see why his people were great. He is the BEST. It’s not open year round, I think April to mid October. Depends on the weather. Check it out at pier 66 if you are in Manhattan. .

I've visited The Frying Pan many, MANY times over the years and every experience has been PHENOMENAL! I recently visited and I was blown away by the staff! The gentleman at who greeted us was AMAZING!!! So welcoming and attentive! And the bartenders all do a GREAT JOB!!! Sometimes places that have a great location tend to lag on food and service - relying on the location to make up the difference - but not here! Everything is ELEVATED while remaining relaxed and inviting. Kudos to the staff all around - especially the host & bartenders. They do a terrific job!

One of the coolest dining experiences I’ve had during the daytime in a long time. Just be careful if you get seasick because the whole restaurant rocks when there are waves! 😎

This place is a fantastic American 🇺🇲 restaurant! 🍴 The Frying Pan 🍳 is an iconic boat 🚢 docked on the Hudson River 🌊 that offers a wonderful selection of delicious 🤤 burgers 🍔, sandwiches 🥪, salads 🥗, seafood 🦞, oysters 🦪 and more alongside nice drinks 🥤 - definitely try the Fried ♨️ Chicken 🐔 Sandwich with Fries 🍟 and The Chelsea cocktail 🍹 (has vanilla, cinnamon, and coffee ☕)! The staff 👨‍🍳 is super friendly and welcoming, service is quick ⏲️, the place is beautifully decorated 🛋️, the ambience 🎶 is fantastic, and the view 🪟 of the water 💦 and city 🏙️ is incredible! They have plenty of seating 🪑 across the boat ⛵ and pier and accept walk-ins. 🚶 I wish I came here more often!

This place can not be any more perfect. Well decorated, super cute atmosphere, great service. Always nice breeze. Its a self service place, so you order and grab any table you would like as long as its free. Food was great. I already been to this place twice. So definitely would recommend. I would say go around the sunset time. They had concert going on when we went. Enjoyed everything about this place. Definitely worth it.

Very cool spot. For the most part, aside from special events, the dining area is on the pier next to the boat, not on the actual boat. When you are out there on the pier, it feels like an escape from the rest of the city. Amazing views both during the day and at night. The food was also surprisingly good. We were expecting ordinary finger foods, but there is actually a good variety and the quality is great. If you do get seasick, just be aware that you can occasionally feel the pier moving up and down slightly. There is also a helipad 1 pier over and the helicopters can be loud, but it didn’t bother us too much. Overall a really great place for catch ups, events, or hangouts if you are looking for something more unique.

Impressive that we can be in the midst of NYC; yet there is a charming unique nautical restaurant right there at Pier 66. We stumbled upon it walking from our Circle Line tour toward Chelsea pier. It looked quiet and fun and the staff so friendly. A beautiful place to have great drinks and watch the sunset. The food was exactly what we wanted too. Manny, the GM, treated us to a cocktail and shared many details of this gem. We loved every minute of being “on-board!”

Very cool spot, definitely worth it for visitors! The view is incredible and the space is very pretty. The food is great for the price. Entirely self service though, heads up. THE BOAT MOVES. Be aware and maybe bring Dramamine. We weren’t prepared and felt a little seasick the whole time.

This place is purely awesome. I don’t know how I’ve lived in the city this long without having been here before. It is now on my list as a top spot to take friends and family when they visit! The food and drinks are great, which is almost an afterthought considering how enjoyable the experience of just being in the restaurant is. It has a vibe of feeling like you’re out on the water, but while still easily accessible to land. Sort of a cross between a boat and a pier. It’s a truly unique spot to hang out, whether you're sipping cocktails, enjoying a meal, or just soaking in the view of the Hudson. The upper level of the Frying Pan is more of a sit-down, reservation-only area, where you'll find cozy tables with umbrellas and great views of the river. The setup gives off a chic, maritime vibe with nautical accents, including fishing nets and old ropes, but it’s not overly formal, making it a great spot for a relaxed, yet stylish dining experience. The outdoor seating makes it feel like you're cruising along the water, and the breeze off the Hudson adds to the whole experience. The lower level is more casual and walk-up, but still offers plenty of space with picnic-style tables and benches, perfect for larger groups or just hanging out. It’s more of a bar vibe here, with a lively atmosphere and people chatting while enjoying drinks and snacks. The bar area is fun and well-stocked, with an quality range of cocktails, beers, and wines. Plus, there are a few TVs mounted around, which makes it a great spot to catch a game, especially if you’re sitting in the more open space at the back. The whole area feels like a mix between a beach bar and a classic New York hangout. We didn’t have reservations, and since the upper section with waiter service is only for reservations, we’ll have to be back and try that next time! But the walk-up bar area still provides a great view, and it’s fun to watch the boats and ships pass by as you dine. The actual Frying Pan boat sits next to the restaurant, and if you’re into history, the boat has a ton. The Frying Pan is a retired US Coast Guard vessel that was built in 1929. Originally known as the Frying Pan Lightship, it served as a floating lighthouse off the coast of North Carolina for many years, guiding ships through hazardous waters. It had a particularly notable stint during World War II, when it was stationed in the Panama Canal Zone. In 1965, it was decommissioned and eventually moved to New York City, where it became a popular part of the waterfront scene in Chelsea. If you’re into boats, piers, history, railroads (there’s a railroad element to the restaurant with the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Float Transfer Bridge used for access and a railcar when you first walk in), good food, good drinks, and good vibes, I highly recommend checking out the Frying Pan!

Natalia
Natalia

a fun, casual spot where you really feel like you’re on a boat - it even shakes a little in. The food comes out quickly and there’s both a self-service area and a dining section with reserved tables. We went at opening when it was quiet, but it got crowded later. Clean, lively, tasty street-food style dishes at good prices.

Drinks, vibes, and sunsets at Frying Pan NYC 🌇⚓🍹 Floating on the Hudson, sipping cocktails, and pretending we’re on vacation — all without leaving Manhattan. The views, the vibes, the vino... This was an amazing date spot with some of the honest to goodness best views of out of the city. The service was amazing, especially Sabrina and Josh, very attentive and we felt very cared after. The gentle rocking of the waves were very comforting and it's just a really cool experience, after all you're on a boat. Come for the vibes, stay for everything else.

I enjoyed this restaurant! Beautiful atmosphere! It really allows your mind to venture off. While filling your belly. Went to a work event and it was a prefix menu. The lobster rolls they were cool. The fish tacos good ! Nicely prepared shirley temple, Pizza squares, Cesar Salad, chicken sliders.. a little but of everything.

Everything about this place took my breath away! My friend and I made it just under the wire, and yet the staff were so lovely and accommodating so close to closing time. The atmosphere is what captured my heart. A gem on the water, good music, good vibes. Ah, and their tacos were easily some of the best I've had in a long while. All in all, an incredible experience! Will definitely be back soon and will be sure to upload more pictures :)

Solid spot for sunset drinks & burgers in the summer! Get there early if it's a weekend and be prepared to wait in line, or just go on a weeknight. Best view is from the top deck. Food is mediocre of course, they can get away with it since it’s an outdoor/waterfront venue in Manhattan, but fries and burgers are at least decent and fish tacos aren’t awful. You go for the ambiance and views, not the food! They do offer reserved space areas for summer corporate events too, if you call and plan ahead pretty far in advance.

Love Love Love the concept! It’s a great experience! We loved being on the boat while watching the sunset as sailboats went by. The service was excellent. My husband had the lobster clam bake and loved it! ❤️ He was so happy. I had a burger…..don’t eat the burger….wait staff was amazing!

Enchanting location. The food was hit or miss. The chicken wings app and fish and chips main were fantastic. The mussels and fish tacos were just meh. The sangria was a winner, though. Some of the staff was surly and impatient and the waitress was inexperienced. Go on a nice day and keep your expectations reasonable to low and you’ll have a great time.

Went for a sunset dinner with my husband and two toddlers. We got reservations on the sun deck. The staff helped us find a safe place to dock our stroller and kindly brought up high chairs to the sun deck for us. We timed our dinner for the sunset and the view did not disappoint. What an absolutely BREATHTAKING view! The walk up and the entire restaurant felt dreamy and magical. Decorated very tastefully with different seating areas. It took us a surprising amount of time to be asked if we wanted a drink or food but I understand that sunset is a busy time for them. I ordered the mango spicy marg "hot in here" and my husband ordered the white sangria. For almost$ 20 cocktails I had high expectations. Unfortunately they were just okay and pretty light. I ordered the steak and fries medium rare. It arrived a medium well with a large portion of fat still on it. The portion I was able to eat was delicious even if not at the temp I had requested. The fries were also very good and seasoned perfectly. My husband ordered the chicken Caesar salad which was unfortunately under seasoned and the chicken was very very dry. The view was absolutely amazing but the food left us wanting more.

Mixed feelings. The ambience is awesome. Great music, views of the helicopter rides was very nice. I did not like the self service system for ordering food. Drinks were good but not accurate as described on menu. Food was delicious.

I love the vibes of this place. It's beautiful, and perfect for afternoon drinks. It's placed on a boat so it takes a second to adjust to the waves' swinging. The food was quite oily.

Decent place. Drinks are good. Food is okay. Service is great. Views are fantastic from certain tables. It’s a good place to go once in the summer and enjoy the sunset and experience the slight movement of the boat as you sit and drink and watch the helicopters take off and land nearby, and enjoy the views of the Hudson River.

The food here has improved over the years. The place is still the top destination for waterfront bar experience! I have to especially recognize how clean they've maintained the bathroom here, it's exceptional for being in the NYC bar scene and on a swinging barge!

Great lunch option after a boat trip or walk along the waterfront. Particularly good for hot weather as there’s a fresh breeze. I’d recommend the lobster roll, which I though was fab. My husband had the fish tacos and he was disappointed, very dry and small portion. We had to stop at another restaurant after for his lunch. There’s a (tap) water station, however the water has a strange taste, and slightly yellow-ish colour.

Iconic parked boat on the water - great for summer drinks and hanging out on the breeze. Awesome ambiance and great city views. Recommend for dates or hanging with friends. Food is average bar grub - fries / burgers / wings.

I go mostly when my kid is sailing or at the HRCS Boathouse. The food is excellent and the view of the River is nice. If you are sensitive to the barge moving it might not be a great fit because the barge does move with the tide and wake of larger boats that pass by. The food is delicious but because of the location it can be windy out and if you are not careful things can blow off the table and in the river which I observed a few times at adjacent tables. It could use some heavy weight objects at a table to hold down napkins etc. I enjoy the Lobster PLT.

Gorgeous and unique space. It's an actual ship turned restaurant on the Hudson river. If you get sea sick easily, AVOID. You will feel dizzy and nauseous because the ship rocks. But if you don't get motion sickness it's a cool place to visit. The place is huge. We got seated at the very top and we had a gorgeous view. The food was decent. I'm not mad at anything but nothing blew me away. We got the ceviche, calamari, and thai wings to share amongst 6 of us and I got the PEI mussels to myself. Nothing to complain about. Cool spot for a drink and appetizers.

7/13/24 first time here. Been walking by the Pan for years. I knew it was a fun spot, there's plenty of room to walk around and have a nice time. We found a cozy table at the far end, got some beers and the fish & chips. I was happily surprised by the big portion and how good it was. We felt a little movement, as expected because it's on the water... Not a big deal and certainly adds to the charm and experience of the place. I love how long it is and the beam is plenty wide. The self service allows one to eat and drink at your own pace. There is full wait service on the top deck. Rail fans will love the entry bridge and the Erie Caboose onboard.

I love coming here to have a nice cold beer with some friends during the hot summer months. You really can't beat the atmosphere on this boat. And that's what you're really going to be coming here for, to be honest. Everything else is just standard bar fair but you're really paying to hang out on the ship and have amazing views of the Hudson and skylines of NJ and NYC. And is worth it. Nothing here is overly expensive and thankfully, the staff doesn't hassle you to purchase something. I'm probably going to jinx this but another thing I really enjoy about this place is that it surprisingly has never gotten overly packed every single time I been here. I have been here a lot over the course of 7 years, at various hours, and never experienced overcrowding. Verdict: If you're looking for nice views, and relaxing vibes, on the water, on a ship without breaking the bank you'd be hard-pressed to find anything better than Frying pan. Pros: -Amazing views -Plenty of space on the ship -For bathrooms (two for men and two for women) -Drinks are reasonable -Never experienced overcrowding Cons: -It's not totally expensive but you're not going to get anything out of this world for the price you pay -Service can sometimes be a little slow -If you get sea sick, don't bother coming here.

First off this place is a place to go for the views. The NYC views. It looks so beautiful when the sun is going down. There is a reservation spot up on the roof which can be romantic. Other than that its self serve. The lobster roll is one of the best ones I've had in NY so far. Chicken sandwich is a hit or miss. And the fish tacos are flavorful and not fishy. The helicopter tour is right next to it so you will be interrupted by helicopters landing and taking off

Excellent place for seafood. It had awesome vibe. Adults only place due to the alcohol. You order yourself and pick up your own food. Is really nice on sunny ☀️ day. If you go out to the end of the pier you can have 180 degree view of the water. The 1lb peel and eat shrimp 🦐🍤 is very nice. The tacos are nice. Also the fish n chips is large portion

This is one of my favorite places to have some drinks once the weather gets friendly and warm enough. Whether I am alone or with friends and family, nothing beats have a cold one when the weather heats up. Being on the Hudson, the nice river breeze, great conversations, its just the bomb. Prices: Mid-range. Not cheap not expensive but you pay for what you get. And really, you're paying to be on the boat and its worth it. Most beers start at 7-8 dollars and mixed drinks around 10 and up. This probably isn't the place you want to get trashed at anyway, so the prices will have you more conservative with your spending. Atmosphere: As I stated, the views, the river breeze, the boat just can't be beat. And the crowd who come here are a mix of everyone but everyone who knows how to behave. I've never seen anything stupid go down. Size: PLENTY of space and seating. Things get tighter if you want to go upstairs but otherwise, plenty of room. The bathrooms are very spacious but be careful, you do have to go down some steep steps. So make sure you don't over do it with the drinking. Final Verdict: If you're looking to drink outside, on a boat, you probably can't beat the Frying Pan.

I recommend checking this spot out to spice things up – it’s a really cool setup on a boat docked off the west side highway. The problem is that you’re swaying the whole time and that made all of us a bit nauseous, but the more time you spend there you will adjust (mostly). It’s also counter-style ordering and the food was overall fresh and tasty.

The views at sunset are absolutely incredible — you can see both the city buildings and the sea. The food is very good, with generous portions. You can simply enjoy a cocktail or a beer while watching the sunset and spending time in a very relaxed atmosphere. It’s a great spot to visit either as a couple or with a group of friends.

Wonderful breeze and view by the water perfect for a summer day. Light beer my fave good drinks. Food accomplishes the objective burger ok and fish tacos. Next time might go for the fish and chips. Fries where perfect.

Absolutely incredible experience! Waterfront view, no reservation needed, $10 cocktails on Friday 8-10. Service isn't the most forthcoming, and a word of caution that the restaurant sways a bit because (obviously) it's on the water. But, overall, one of the best bar experiences I've had here in the city!

My friend and I gave this place a shot. We were looking for a nice outdoors area due to amazing weather outside. So if you are looking for a cool spot with stunning views, this is a right place, just be aware that you are technically on a boat and can get a seasick. On the other hand the service and food. I got my satisfaction from the food, but my opinion, too greasy. The same with service, it was just okay, but def could be quicker and better when only 3rd party of all tables is occupied. I recommend this place to visit at least once, visiting it another time - up to you.

I love this place — the view is beautiful, I could stay there all day. The staff are super friendly, starting with the person who greets you at the entrance. The mezcal pitcher seems a bit pricey, but it’s worth it for the experience. The burger was tasty, but I can’t say the same about the fried calamari — it had no flavor at all, not even salt. No matter how much sauce or salt I added, it still tasted like nothing, and the texture was really chewy. I wouldn’t recommend the calamari to anyone, but I would definitely recommend spending an entire afternoon there hanging out with friends.

When we went to the Frying Pan it was for a two day Oktoberfest celebration, 22-23 September. So there was a special that included a beer Stein filled with your choice of beer and a special food menu for that event with a choice of Jagerschnitzel, Brat board, Roast Apple chicken or Fish&Chips. Or choose one from each box such as Krainerwurst or Chicken schnitzel sandwich etc with a choice of the Jumbo Bavarian Pretzel, House sauerkraut etc. A fun atmosphere, a very lively German band. Clean big washrooms this is all on a huge Barge. Perfect to check out if you are in NYC in September.

Great views of the water! The food isn’t great and is pricey but the atmosphere is great. Live music pretty often which is super loud and a little hard to hear over, but still nice for a sunset

Liked the casual atmosphere of dining on a boat! Lobster rolls and fries were average but the price was reasonable for what you get. Don’t expect mind-blowing food but a average casual dining! Definitely worth it for a lovely sunset in summer for riverside views.

Nice restaurant that focuses on seafood. The bar are is also nice and lively. There are plenty of seating outside and standing by the bar. Great view of New York City and New Jersey . They have good oyster choices and the lobster roll is delicious. They offer other fried food that we didn’t try. Maybe next time

This is an interesting place and I wish my experience was better. The food isn’t really good here. The wings were really salty. Waldo the service is not streamlined. Wish they were clear about how to get food etc. You order and pay at the counter and then come pick your food later. You may get a little seasick if you easily get that way and sit outside. I think overall this place has great potential.

The food was ok, but eating out on the outside pier was wonderful. We were excited to see the old ship and had hoped to dine inside the boat. The Frying Pan, many years ago, was in our NC hometown. There was a purchase of it, and it landed in NY. Nostalgia brought us to visit this old salty ship.

Great atmosphere and our server was very nice. Only downside was we got approached about not leaving a tip in a disgusting way by the hostess when we were actually planning on giving a cash tip. Definitely would not return anytime soon. But great views of Manhattan and Jersey.

The location is good although we should have probably tried to get a table upstairs. The food is goods enough for the price but nothing too extraordinary. Service was a bit jumbled and sometimes we were waiting a bit longer than we’d like to order and receive things, with some parts of orders also not getting out through. Nice place to eat at sunset.

S

This place was such a big hype. I was not impressed. The only 2 things this place has going for it is the deal on the Pacifico bucket and the views on the Hudson. Great place to grab a beer and a bite for lunch or after work. Everything was order through your phone and "get it yourself" style atmosphere.

Very nice staffs as they help you get the place you feel good while too windy. Cocktail — very so so and price too high according to the quality & size of drinks they offer Lobster roll — taste ok but size is small while it cost US$35 ? Chicken wing — great one 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Fires — Good & fresh Price vs quality & size of food, it is a bit expensive

The directions for seat yourself versus table service were unclear—table service was not clearly marked and the layout makes it difficult to locate the various services. There was some party going on that was super loud. The fish tacos were bland. Cod isn’t the most flavorful fish, unlike tacos, so you need to do a lot to amp it up. The accoutrements are sparse. This just feels like a lazy dish where they took the bits of cod too small for the fish and chips and put them in a tortilla and called it a taco. The portion is quite small, but the fish and chips portion is large. Their sangria cocktail tasted like a melted, watered down popsicle. I thought I was tipsy immediately but it was just the boat rocking. That drink is a ripoff. The views are okay depending on where you’re sitting and at what angle. Having the park right there is nice for a walk after. Even though there weren’t really any tourists there, it felt like a tourist trap.

We were greeted by the host, who came across as dismissive and unnecessarily aggressive. Unfortunately, the food did not redeem the experience either. We ordered calamari, fish and chips, and two burgers. Each dish was overcooked, dry, and noticeably lacking in seasoning. Given how limited the menu is, I had hoped that the kitchen would focus on delivering quality, but the execution was very disappointing. Overall, both the service and the food fell short of expectations.

Stadium-quality food for 4-Star prices: The Frying Pan is an embarrassment to Manhattan. The restaurant had so much promise to be a lovely experience which has been on my list for a very long time, but the establishment failed us in *every* possible way. We had an evening reservation which meant we were seated for table service. The restaurant advertises the red boat, but seating on the famed red boat was not open. We were instead seated on an upper level of a mooring barge in direct sunlight with strong winds which obliterated our table every few minutes. The entire dining area was in direct view of the *horrifically* noisy helicopter pads next door. The entire experience was ruined by incessant and excessive helicopter noise which exceeded 90db multiple times according to noise warnings from my smart devices. The menu was very limited and simple. Small a la carte plates and sides for exorbitant prices is somewhat normal for New York, but I have had much better food on board Amtrak and the airlines. The poor quality of the food was absolutely disgusting and it was difficult to finish what I ordered. The prices charged were an insult after enduring the stadium-quality food and beverages. The service was also deplorable: the waiter served our food and abandoned our table for the rest of the evening. We eventually ordered more drinks and dessert, and it was dropped off with no utensils with which to eat it. Due to the inattentive staff I had to get up and request more utensils from the bartender at the other end of the barge before we could eat our desserts. Nearly three hours in, now nauseated by the helicopter noise, we had to ask for the check three times before finally getting a check from a different server who had not previously been serving our table. The overall impression is that this restaurant has NO incentive to provide quality food or service due to the transient one-time tourist patronage they enjoy, and this Upper West Side local will *never* set foot onto the dock of The Frying Pan again. What a pathetic experience, and what an embarrassment to the restaurant community of Manhattan.

Mediocre food at a cafeteria. Fish and chips were both dry…they tried to cover the nasty looking fries by placing the fish on top…as if I wouldn’t move the fish?! To make matters worse, a good bit of the outside tables don’t have the umbrella attached, so if you want to stop in for a relaxing meal by the water, this is not the place. The place is like a cafeteria; you place your order at the bar and then they text you and you can pick up your food at the kitchen. Not impressed by the place overall. Also, not sure why Google maps lists this place as a separate restaurant (From Pier 66 Maritime, which apparently is just the area) when the place is really just the Frying Pan (as my CC receipt indicates).

My friend took me here for my birthday. The food was subpar. When we got up to leave I noticed one of the guys staring at us. We started walking towards the exit and he approached us and asked us if the service was good we stated yes. Then he said “well we noticed you didn’t leave a tip, you know that’s how our servers pay their rent right” in a VERY CONDESCENDING way. We were planning to give our server a cash tip on the way out but after that interaction we changed our minds. Very unprofessional and not the right way to handle the situation at all. I wonder if they do that to everyone.

Visiting New York expecting good food. Ordered fish and chips for two. Generous pile of nice fries came with two foot long pieces of batter an inch wide with little to no fish inside for $70! Slaw was flavorless while the unusual tartar sauce was tasty. Never return. Nice setting. Very disappointed. Captain D’s for $5.00 is much better

Absolutely appalling service — avoid at all costs! I’ve never had such a horrible experience at a restaurant in my life. First, the server literally grabbed my glass without asking, sniffed it like a wine snob in training, and had the audacity to say, “This isn’t water, it’s wine you brought yourself.” Excuse me? That’s not just rude — it’s invasive and unacceptable. It gets worse: they took my drink away without permission. Then they came back and took my half-eaten Caesar salad too — I wasn’t even finished! The staff was clueless, rude, and completely unprofessional. Being by the water doesn’t mean you can treat your guests like garbage. Zero stars if I could. Never again.
