Preguntas frecuentes sobre Sahara Turkish Grill
Opiniones de Sahara Turkish Grill New York
Went here the other day, and it was a fantastic experience. The staff was very nice and didn’t rush us at all. We got the hummus, cacik, doner kebab, and iskender, and everything was SO good. Very well made and great portion sizes. Also, we got the “stretchy ice cream” for dessert, and it was fantastic. 100% recommend.
This was my first experience at this restaurant. I couldn't remain silent in the face of the delicious food and excellent service. Many thanks to Sahara. I'm sure I'll be back. Have a great day!
Got a catering for my party from Sahara . Everything was on point , meat was perfectly cooked and mezes so flavorful! Also so reasonably priced 🤌🏻
A neighborhood gem! We've lived in the area for years but only recently tried this restaurant, and are only sad we didn't go sooner. The atmosphere inside is lovely and spacious. The food was delicious -- even our kids (2 and 5 yo) approved. And they were so friendly and accommodating to us. We ordered the hummus, chicken and vegetable soup, chicken shish kebab, and kofte. The meal came with fresh baked bread and olive oil. Definitely feels like a slice of Turkiye in NYC - we'll be back soon!
We had a wonderful dinner! The lamb chops were cooked perfectly. The wait staff is attentive. The decor is warm and cozy. And of course I had delicious coffee.
We really enjoyed this spot, especially the unique Turkish offerings you do not see at many other places, which we were eager to try. We skipped the usual standards and ordered several different items. The meal started with delicious bread and rich olive oil. The cig kofte was new to us and excellent, and the calf’s liver was also a standout. The baklava was very good and not overly sweet. Overall, a really enjoyable experience.
I had a fantastic meal at Sahara Turkish at 2nd Avenue and 29th Street, and everything from start to finish exceeded expectations. The restaurant has a warm, inviting atmosphere that makes you feel comfortable the moment you walk in. It’s relaxed and welcoming, the kind of place where you can really enjoy your food without feeling rushed. The meal started with the falafel appetizer, which was excellent — crisp on the outside, soft and flavorful on the inside. The fresh bread served with olive oil was simple but delicious and perfect for sharing. These starters set the tone for what turned out to be a memorable meal. The lamb chops were absolutely out of this world. Perfectly cooked, tender, and full of flavor, they were easily the highlight of the evening. The Adana kebab was equally impressive — juicy, well-seasoned, and grilled beautifully. Every bite reflected quality ingredients and careful preparation. To finish, I had the coffee, which was strong, rich, and exactly how it should be. It was the perfect way to end the meal and left a lasting impression. Service was friendly and attentive throughout, adding to the relaxed experience. Overall, Sahara Turkish delivers excellent food, great hospitality, and a comfortable atmosphere. If you’re looking for authentic Turkish cuisine in the neighborhood, this place is absolutely worth visiting.
It was our first time having Turkish cuisine and we loved every single dish. I'm usually not big on hummus or smoked eggplant, but their dips were absolutely delicious. The cold appetizer plate is perfect for sharing and the portions were very generous. The kebabs and gyros were our favorite-- so soft and tender and flavorful!! We're from Vancouver and the kebabs/gyros here are always dry and overcooked. This place puts Vancouver to shame! Delicious food, delicious deserts and amazing service. My favourite deserts were the rice pudding and the milk custard as recommended by our server! Did not disappoint
After dinner we stopped here for dessert and coffee and both were delicious. We decided to go with the classic pistachio baklava, the cold baklava and the rice pudding, all of it was really good. The Turkish coffee was served traditionally with a Turkish delight. We are originally from Macedonia, so for us this was taste from home.
From the moment you step inside, you’re welcomed into an atmosphere that feels warm, elegant, and truly one of a kind. The food here sets a new standard—every dish is carefully prepared with flavor that speaks for itself. Their Turkish-style lentil soup is not only the first but the only truly authentic one you’ll find in Manhattan, and it alone is worth the visit. Beyond the food, the service is exceptional—attentive without being intrusive, making you feel valued with every visit. We can confidently say this place deserves a perfect 10 out of 10. It’s no surprise we find ourselves returning week after week, because the experience is that unforgettable
The complementary bread and sauce was so fresh and tasty and filling. The salad and everything else was so tasty and filling. We got a small and it fed two. Also one of the best lamb chops I have ever had. We both had medium well and it just so tender, flavorful, and juicy . All the food items were affordably priced. Fast service. The Turkish coffee and drinks also taste very good. The venue is so close to many other venues for late night shenanighans.
I had an amazing experience at Sahara’s Turkish Cuisine! The soup, Iskender kebab and Gyro were incredibly flavorful, with the kebab perfectly tender and rich in taste. We also tried an appetizer platter, which was fresh, well-seasoned, and beautifully presented. To end the meal, the baklava with tea was absolutely perfect flaky, sweet, and a great complement to the tea. The service was excellent, with a warm and welcoming staff that made the experience even better. Highly recommend this place for delicious Turkish food in NYC! Can’t wait to come back!
This was our first time eating Turkish food, so we sampled quite a few. Everything and I mean everything was outstanding. Service was great. The staff was more than willing to teach us about Turkish cuisine. Definitely going back. Thank you Sahara 's for making this an amazing experience.
The food was functional, but it didn't taste very good. The bread was dry, the cheese rolls were just salty and not very flavorful. The shrimp casserole has the most complex flavor, but even that was just good. I liked that it was quiet, some of the decoration was nice (they should turn off that distracting faint projector). the staff was available and let us stay as long as we wanted.
My friend was looking for a good Turkish restaurant for our last night in the city. We stumbled upon this one online. A cozy warm decor. We ended up ordering the chicken soup which was extremely hearty and flavorful. The lamb chops were solid. My friend reported the mixed grill was adequate. The service was pretty prompt.
We ordered İskender, but unfortunately it was far from what it should be. We couldn’t even taste the butter. Even the olive oil that was first brought to the table as a courtesy didn’t taste like real olive oil. The bread was also quite ordinary and had no distinctive quality. The service and attention were decent, and the ambiance of the place was truly beautiful. However, I’ve had much better Turkish food at other restaurants for a much lower price.
Ok, so here's the thing I'm not your regular Karen who leaves bad reviews for restaurants left and right, but as a Turkish immigrant chef, this one hit a little close to my heart so I'm gonna share my thoughts and feelings. As a frequent delivery orderer, we wanted to check the restaurant and try the food out with friends and family. I asked the waiter that I don't see dürüm as an option on the menu but I would like to order my Adana kebab as a dürüm instead of in platter. He replied a wrap is ony available for delivery. Like I stated above, I can sense where this decision is brewing from as a chef, trying to get people to order the platter instead of the wrap and get couple extra bucks right? Why not? Ain't nothing wrong with that. I get it. But you guys shouldn't be doing that to the guests, especially if they're Turkish and they're craving for some home reminding food. Especially on an empty night, when flipping the tables quickly is not a neccessary. Also on the same note, Turkish culture is very well known for its hospitality and it feels like you guys are trying to do the complete opposite. Make people feel at home and they will come back again. I felt the opposite tonight. It's just sad that now I have to find another Turkish restaurant but I'm not ordering or going to Sahara again.
