Some of the best Indian food I've had the pleasure of tasting. Great service by all staff. Great suggestions and overall experience. The attention to detail for both service and the look of each dish was remarkable.
In all the years we’ve been visiting MemSaab we’ve never had a bad meal. Even when the restaurant is packed out, the quality never wavers and is consistently high. Love the different chutneys here especially the refreshing apple and mint. The tandoori ostrich starter is delicious. My husband’s favourite is the jalfrezi, the peppers are so sweet and flavourful. This time I had Goan curry with big juicy, meaty prawns in the most glorious sauce. Tequila shots and cheesecake with a sparkler ended our celebration on a high. Excellent service, excellent atmosphere and excellent food.
Without any doubt, the best Indian restaurant in Nottingham. . . Authentic taste and excellent decor. The attention to detail is extraordinary. Service wise i wasn't impressed, as few were really pleasing and friendly while the more senior staff really were not welcoming and at times looked at the guests with some attitude ! This is the one and only issue I found with the place and this really is upsetting and needs to be changed. Will I go to the restaurant again ? Definitely yes. . Just for the yummy, finger lickin food. .
The best Indian food in Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, England no…the World! I have eaten here many times over the years and I can’t believe I have not given it a few kind words. Consistently amazing food and service. Thank you so much to the team at Memsaab you are wonderful. Made our little family meal a moment to remember.
Amazing Indian restaurant. The service is just fantastic. The waiters gave us hot towels before ordering. The dishes were amazing, the lamb handi was so tasty and the portions were great. I will just add that one rice is plenty for two. The staff are very well presented and attentive, and this is definitely somewhere I would go to eat again.
Absolutely amazing! It isn't normally somewhere within my price range as it is a little on the expensive side, but with the 50% off scheme I couldn't pass up on the chance to visit and I'm so glad I did! Excellent allergen advice on the menu, every dish is marked with allergens contained which made it super easy to order. The service was perfect, food was perfect and the atmosphere was perfect. I will definitely be saving up to visit again in the future! The butter chicken and paneer starter are unreal 😍
what an amazing experience. was in town for a few days and got this restaurant recommended to me. So I took my work colleagues for a meal out. arrived 10 minutes late due to traffic but they were so accommodating. food arrived so quickly and was amazing quality and taste. I'd says it's one if not the best Indian restaurant I've ever eaten at. Price wise was a little high, but after eating I'd say it was well worth it
Went for a family meal on a Saturday night with no booking and got seated with no problem. The food and service was absolutely fantastic. The staff were ridiculously accommodating making sure everyone member of the party were happy. 100% would recommend.
Thank you to absolutely everyone at MemSaab that made our big night out fantastic from start to end. We were a group of 10, the staff were friendly and attentive, the food and drinks delicious. A perfect night out. Highly recommended.
Enjoyed the valentines set menu, good selection, service nice and friendly. Missed the saxophonist which was hoping to catch. The background music was not too loud. Dessert was mini bread and butter pudding which was tasty but heavy to finish on, maybe something else or a selection from 2 dessert options would have been nice.
Went here for Mother’s Day and as we sat down I noticed it was a set menu and panicked. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. You got a lot for your money, portions huge and menu options were plentiful (I’m a veggie). Service was great. So attentive. Whilst we spent more on what we normally would (because of the set menu) we had no objections. We will be back to try the full menu. It was a lovely touch for the owner to come round and check everything was ok
We were fortunate enough to make a late booking at MemSaab for a party of 8 on a Saturday night. All members of staff were friendly and very attentive. We weren't sure what to eat and the main waiter suggested a range of dishes for our party ( Which included 2 vegetarians). We tasted a range of dishes (Vegetarian, Vegan, Chicken, Lamb, Fish) and each one was unique in flavour, cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious! Our party of 8, (who have tasted Indian food from every corner of the UK) were amazed by the food, and also the service received. I highly recommend eating at MemSaab!
I visited Memsaab on Friday after hearing rave reviews about this place for years. Everyone from my family, friends, and colleagues who’s been there has raved about their experience. Despite being hesitant to try highly recommended places, the combination of their pricing and the overwhelming positive feedback made me want to give it a try. Upon entering, we were greeted with dates, a traditional Muslim treat, and offered ample prayer space in the back. They also provided us with plenty of water to break our fast, which was incredibly thoughtful of the staff. After our prayers, we settled down and were promptly and efficiently served by attentive waiters, making our dining experience feel personalised. The staff was incredibly compassionate and accommodating of our dietary requirements. They explained each dish in detail and were genuinely interested in engaging with our group. The food was absolutely delicious. I started with the Amritsari Machli, a delectable dish served with a variety of tasty sauces. My husband and I then opted for a tandoori combination, and the staff kindly swapped out the prawns for another chicken tikka. We paired these dishes with peshwari naan, which perfectly complemented the flavours. As a food reviewer, I usually try places only once before moving on to the next, but Memsaab has certainly piqued my interest. I’m eager to return and explore more of their extensive menu.
28.05.2024 We were eyeing this restaurant from a long time and finally we made it. The best service I have ever experienced to add to the tasty food and lovely ambience. The place is huge and can accommodate more that 200 people. The interiors are beautiful. The lighting is very nice and the table setting is awesome. no wornder the restaurant has wom many awards. We ordered for Lahori Lamb Chops, Tandoori Ostrich, JChilli Prawn Salad, French Fries and not to forget cocktails and Beers. Every order was quick and tasty. I am amazed by their super quick service as if they are reading our minds. To our surprise they also served a cake to celebrate our birthday. With super quick and excellent service a great place to dine, has left us with a very memorable experience.
This was probably my second or third time to have dinner in this place and just like always the dishes served tasted great and the service was very convenient and friendly. I made an online reservation and then made a slight change on it and all was properly handled. The staff was helpful and gave recommendations on what and how much to order so we ended up with good tasty choices and no leftovers. The place offers halal food and the staff was clear in confirming this fact and highlighting one menu item only that wasn’t. So if you are looking for this type of food then this place is a good choice. Expect to pay around 30 pounds per person for a satisfactory meal.
Visiting Nottingham and searched Trip Advisor for somewhere to eat. The food was amazing. The Kerman naan was the lightest tastiest naan I have ever eaten. The staff were attentive but not obtrusive. Had a chat with the owner on her way out. Such a lovely person. If you are visiting Nottingham, you will not be disappointed if you visit
Tried lamb wrap in christmas market stall by memsaab and it was tasty and value for money
Great food and brilliant service. Authentic North Indian food. Would highly recommend and their sister restaurant Masala Junction is a regular haunt of ours when we are in Nottingham.
This is indeed one of the best Indian restaurants we've been to.When we are traveling around England we have a habit of going to an Indian restaurant one our way back and we go to different cities/various places and I can say this one was one of the nicest we've been. The prices might be higher than the ones of your favourite curry place, but once you go there you will understand that it's totally worth it. The ambiance was nice, the interior design ok (not as 'kitchy' as most Indian places),the service good, but the best part was the actual food. I would recommend this place to all my friends going to Nottingham!
Great food, helpful staff (we got in at short notice on a very busy night). It's not a cheap night out, but how many times are they disappointing? Got there in time for pre food round of drinks and a main course, which was very good. Four of us had different meals, and all were excellent. Definitely return:)
1st time here food was amazing ,staff very friendly great place .
My goodness this place will blow your taste buds away. Every course was just perfect. Amazing service and very attentive and supportive with your menu choices. I recommend eating here if you want an amazing experience and out of this world food. Table of 3 with 3 courses and sides £85. I would pay that anytime for the experience we just had. Thanks and I will see you again next visit to Nottingham
Came here for our anniversary dinner and the mrs. couldn't be happier with the food, cocktails and the service. Amazing Indian grub that is at par with some of the best Indian places in the uk. Highly recommended.
Faultless. Amazing service, nice food. On the pricy end but definitely one of the best Indians in Nottingham
We had a dinner at the MemSaab. The restaurant serves authentic Indian cuisine and we were happy both with the quality of food, the ambience and the service
Beautiful restaurant with a wonderful customer service. The food was really good. The restaurant decor was superb. I, unfortunately did not take much pictures while at the venue. If you are looking for some good Indian food, this is a good place to try.
This was work's Christmas dinner's get together. Been to MemSaab before. I love the fact that they catered alternative main meal for me as Asian food is too spicy for me, & my steak 🥩 was cooked to my perfection 👌🏼 Enjoyed my food very much 😋🍽️ Can't fault the service of the staff👍🏼👍🏼
Good service, good food, good ambience .(Minimum spend of 20gbp per person.)
Exquisite food. This is a true fine dining experience. Only managed to get pictures of the starters. We went on a Saturday evening and the restaurant was fairly quiet at the time. However while we enjoyed our meal the restaurant became very busy but still we continued to receive brilliant service. It is true this is an expensive restaurant but it is fine dining. We ordered two starters which were quite large in portion size, they were very tasty. Then for mains we ordered a vegetarian dish and a meat dish with nans and pulau rice. The pilau rice was the only thing which I can say I have had better. The lamb was excellent and the Paneer Burji was equally amazing. I would strongly suggest anyone to visit this restaurant to truly experience true Indian food. With brilliant service.
We went to Memsaab for a quick meal before going to the theatre. The tarka daal was every bit as good as the best home made ever tasted and the vegetable goan curry was spicy and delicious. The 'platter' meal is well proportioned - not too much food and a good balance of flavours. My daughter recommended MemSaab as her favourite restaurant - I don't blame her!
Food was incredible and service even better! I visited this restaurant for special occasions and was not disappointed, highly recommend!
Fantastic food, fabulous staff and great atmosphere. If you're in Nottingham, it's a must. Recommended by a colleague and totally lived up to expectations. We were celebrating and the staff went to extra effort to make our meal special.
Celebration experiences at regular prices Everything was done well. The food was excellent, and there was attention to detail - hot towel on arrival, plates warmed for the main, and excellent service throughout. The owner is personally involved in the dining experience of her guests and expects excellence from her staff.
Went here for a meal with work colleagues and reserved a table for 7 in advance. We were met by the concierge and seated straight away. Meal was sharing platters for starters (meat, fish and veggie platters). Also a tandoori ostrich which was unusual. Mains were a selection of the plates. Highly recommend Chicken Karahi (desi style) and the Nizami lamb. We also had delicious Desserts, I recommend the Pistachio Kulfi and the Rasmalai. Total bill was £400 (£59pp) which included several rounds of drinks. Had a 10% service charge added to the bill, but the serving staff were polite, efficient and helpful.
One of the best Indian restaurant in Nottingham. Impressed with the quality of food and service. Lovely interior and verity of Indian dishes. Waiters were helpful with making recommendations. But having said that, the menu rates are little over priced and above to that the service charge being added to the bill 10%, should be optional as most restaurants are or the menu prices should be less.
We had a nice meal and the service was good and attentive. I wasn’t a big fan of the bhajis but that’s just my particular taste. The keema naan was really good. The curry was nice - it was a butter chicken makhani , which had more heat to it than I anticipated. Overall it was a nice meal
My mate and I were in Nottingham for a night out, and we stumbled upon this place for food. We were lucky enough to get a table right away, and the staff were super quick to take our orders for drinks and food. Now, here’s a heads up: the tables can be a bit wobbly, especially if you lean on them too much. I accidentally tipped over one of the tables while trying to move forward, and guess what? Two full beers went flying over the table, seating, and the floor! The staff cleaned everything up in a flash. They even moved us to a different table. As for the food, it was delicious! It was a bit spicy, even though we ordered a mild dish, but that’s just my taste. Overall, it was a great experience.
Wasn't sure what to expect due to the AA rosettes and inclusion in Michelin guide. I wasn't disappointed - great tastes, fresh herbs and spices and good texture. The Jalfrezi and Ostrich starter were the standout dishes. The chutneys were a little disappointing. So, was it better than my normal 'go to' restaurants? Probably not, but definitely worth a visit.
Arrived here at 8pm on a Saturday evening, place was really lively and the atmosphere was brilliant. Service was abit slow but we didn't mind as there were alot of customers inside. In terms of food, the starters were very flavoursome but they were expensive - £9.95 for 2 pieces of Tandoori King Prawns and £8.50 for 3 pieces of lamb chops!!!! The mains were average and could have been much better especially for the price. When you are paying £15 for a curry you expect the portion to be generous but it wasn't. Presentation was perfect as seen by the pictures attached. The biggest problem was that you cannot order anything that isn't on the menu. For example, no Lamb Karahi on the menu but they serve Chicken Karahi... I asked if I could have the Lamb Karahi and the waiter advised they cannot deviate from the menu. Very strange given it should take the same amount of time to make either curry. Overall I would come back to Memsaab if I was ever in the area but I would also be willing to try other places.
Lovely food, very friendly staff against good prices! For the kids they even make chicken korma (was not on the menue). Our son loved it!
I had a delicious meal here. The starters were amazing, I had the vegetable samosas on which the pastry was perfect and crispy, the filling was so flavoursome with a great texture. My friend has the scallops which were fantastic. My friend had the mixed tandoori main, it was very nice, although perhaps more than I would expect to pay, the curry sauce that came with it had a strong taste of tomato soup. I had the special that was sold to me as medium-hot home style chicken was not hot in the slightest and was not like any home cooking I had had. It was still pleasant though. If I were to go again I would order different mains - perhaps just sticking to ordering lots of starters as they were so good!
The staffs were friendly and attentive, the restaurant looks beautiful inside. We have the mixed starter and it was really delicious. Our mains were lovely too. Can't wait to be back and try our more dishes.
Okay but not as good as it used to be. Decent food but it needs a refresh as it looks dated. The huge table numbers they have set out on each table look terrible and get in the way. Never seen that before. Not sure why they have them?
Nice atmosphere and friendly service. However the quality of the sides were underwhelming. Very average tasting rice and naan options, left a lot more to be desired. My “very spicy” curry was slightly hotter than mild, starters were better than the curries. I understand that this place is a staple in Nottingham, but perhaps it is past its prime. The awards in the front would suggest that at least..
Not quite lived up to its reputation but a pleasant experience. The staff is nice and even for a mid week early eve the restaurant was nearly full (restaurant week). The food was good quality. Pre-starters (poppadoms & chutneys) were tasty as were starters (paneer and aloo bahaji, reshmi kebab) but the portions of the latter were tiny. They came together with the mains which is not my preference. The mains (zaika gosht and lamb rogan fosh) were run of the mill, however, the lamb in zaika gosht was slightly dry. I was full and pleased after the meal but I was expecting more from "Indian fine dining". There are better Indian restaurants in Nottingham for slightly lower prices.
When arriving we were quickly shown to our table. The girl who took our order wasn’t a very warming person but a little on the abrupt side. The dish I wanted was chicken thigh meat and I asked if this could be changed to chicken breast. I always have chicken Khari with chicken beast meat in many restaurants. When asking if this could be changed to breast she said she would check with the chef as it wasn’t on the menu, this was ok but it was her attitude, made us feel like we were putting her out. Disappointed with the size of the nan bread considering the price. Rather than the normal size nan (dinner plate) it was the size of a saucer. It was cold. I addressed the waiter and he didn’t seem bothered when I mentioned the size but did bring an extra nan bread. When paying top end prices you expect quality and quantity. We eat at numerous Indian restaurants and have never had a nan bread so small. Unfortunately the lady in the red dress and the gent that visit the tables never came to ours which leads me to believe it’s all a set up. Seems strange two unhappy customers were never confronted by these two very important looking people but just seem to address the happier customers as they know they will have more positive feedback back. Disappointed wouldn’t recommend but it’s personal choice. Go and check out for yourselves.
Valentines Day Set Menu - our booking was at 7pm , they seemed overwhelmed from the off. very busy night with lots of covers. that being said i still dont think theres any acceptable reason why the food was so bad. beyond chewy butter chicken, inedible prawn starter and cold & bland everything else. ( Overheard the table next to us saying food was cold also). on top of that the bill was £150!! insane price. we ended up paying it fully only due to the atmosphere was so pleasant for a valentines (live sax player) but overall. it was great Atmos , awful food.... sad to see as memsaab used to be king
