...we were lucky enough to get a table for two on Saturday at noon without a reservation. I was absolutely delighted with every dish!!! Everything was delicious! It's been a long time since I've eaten so well!!!! I highly recommend it!! The dishes are a bit different (beyond the classics), but they're carefully prepared...beautiful to look at as well as to eat. The staff is kind and helpful. I can't wait to go back...

I used to come here with my parents way back in the old days. 😁 We returned with our son and our two dogs today. Very efficient service, welcoming place, good-quality products, creative and traditional dishes. The fried octopus was a bit too tasty, but it was crispy, soft, and very well served. All the dishes were generous. A special mention goes to the Russian salad, which was truly balanced and melting on the palate. The wine list is adequate. Dishes can be chosen from the general menu or the daily menu. Dessert is served in decidedly oversized quantities; I'm writing this to save room for it. 😀

The restaurant is located in the center of Lumarzo (Genoa) in the upper Fontanabuona Valley. It has a large, rustic-style dining room filled with antiques, including a large oak tree trunk at its center, which gave the restaurant its name. There's also a veranda. A good selection of delicious food (the apple pie is delicious). The atmosphere is familiar and welcoming, the staff are friendly and attentive, and the quality/price ratio is excellent. There's ample parking next to the restaurant.

This was my second time eating here. The first time I ate in the evening, and despite the limited seating in the dining room, we had to wait forever to be served. I have to say, everything we ordered was good. We returned on a Saturday for lunch, and the restaurant was crowded. This confirmed that eating requires a lot of patience. Between ordering and being seated, we waited 50 minutes, and I have to say, the appetizer was mediocre, except for the creamed cod. The artichokes that accompanied it were a bit disappointing. I won't go into detail about the house appetizer, which was sent back to the sender, except for the cured meats, of course. Another 45 minutes for the first course after we'd finished the appetizer. It was unnerving. I won't be returning.

Generous portions. I recommend the tartare, good with both mushrooms and truffles. We would have liked to have a first or second course, but we probably would have been luckier instead. We opted for the fried foods, which I don't recommend... generous but unfortunately poor quality. The ambiance itself is not bad, except for the very uncomfortable chairs. The waiters were kind but perhaps a little unknowledgeable about the wines. Our 30 euro entrée was served very warm. So, a fine trattoria with good food, but not up to the excessive price for a two-course dinner for two.
