Best Ever
Amazing desserts
Great food
The food is great, and the staff was wonderful. The menu is on the pricey side, but it's a great dining experience. I really enjoyed the onion rings, and their French onion soup is delicious. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
GREAT SERVICE. Very friendly. When they say famous for there Prime rib they mean it. The BEST PRIME RIB I'VE EVER ATE hands down.
Best prime rib at the Lake. We compare the prime rib at J. Bruners to the prime rib served at The Excaliber in Vegas. It's amazing!
Loved it! Perfectly cooked, from the appetizers to the entree. Highly recommend the steaks and lobster.
Food has been consistently good for over 30 years. Batter fried lobster is expensive but oh so yummy!
Friendly place! Great food! Staff is very attentive and happy to serve. Great atmosphere!
This is our new Christmas tradition, great service & great food. This was our fifth season to celebrate there.
Great steaks! Nice atmosphere with exceptional staff. Has never disappointed.
The food is great and the staff are personable. I would definitely recommend this place.
Very good. Filet was an amazing cut and lobster melted on my mouth.
Top Notch place with good quality food and service highly recommended especially that batter fried lobster tail and filet, yum!

The food and service were both excellent!
Steak was cooked perfect and service was excellent.
An elegant getaway at the lake. Get a babysitter... this place isn't for kids.
Best food and customer service at the lake.
Had our company Christmas party there and it was terrific.
Great food and view of the lake
Food was good. Service Great
The front desk at our hotel recommended this place, and we're glad they did. The lobster mac & cheese and chicken liver appetizers were fantastic. We had steaks that were cooked as ordered and delicious. The prices for entree and sides are broken down individually on the bill, but they all add up correctly so don't worry about that. Give them a try!
Amazing food!!!!! Amazing dining experience! My husband and I celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary there this summer and the service was AMAZING!!!!!! and our food was to die for! Complements to the chef most definitely!!!! If you are looking for an amazing fine dining experience at the lake of the ozarks and to please your pallet in no way you ever have before go have dinner here!!!!!!
I don’t typically write reviews but this one is beyond well deserved! Last night me and my love decided to go for a late dinner. Online it said J. Bruners was open until 10 but when we arrived at 9:30 and asked if we could still grab a bite, the hostess stated she would have to check as they are only open until 10 on weekends and some Holidays. The Chef came out to greet us and said we were more than welcome to stay and escorted us upstairs to the dining room. This was our first Valentines Day together and we could not have had a more perfect experience! Granted it was late but we had the entire dining room to ourselves which made our experience sweet, quiet/private and extremely romantic. Our server Anji was AMAZING! She was SO sweet to us, funny, attentive and made sure we never felt rushed, were able to order any and everything we wanted and always made sure we had a full drink which was a hugely pleasant surprise given how late we arrived. Additonally, as if the service alone wasn’t outstanding, each dish we ordered was cooked to absolute perfection. I had been here before but it was my sweetheart’s first time and I can honestly say that they gave us the ultimate VIP treatment! When the quality at closing superceeds the quality during peak hours, the price tag is a non issue. There is no possible way I could say enough good things about our trip here! Thank you all so so much for making our evening that much more special and for rolling out the red carpet for us... we will definitely be back!
Our favorite restaurant at The Lake! Have been dining here over 30 years and each time we visit we are still impressed with the service, friendly helpful staff and the exceptional quality of food served. The onion rings are the best ever! Thank you for consistency!!
Food was amazing as always. Great service! Get there a little early and enjoy drinks in the lounge. Dinning is very elegant great for a romantic evening or just dinner with friends. You can't go wrong with J. Bruner's.
J. Bruner's is a true Steak and Lobster tail supper club. Well appointed. Excellent serving sizes with well seasoned steaks and prime rib. My medium rare KC strip was delicious.
A little over priced but very good
Awesome onion rings!
Enjoyed my experience, found prices to be higher for the good service. Place was packed with many happy people...
The food was very good, and the service was excellent.
Nice service and quality food at a premium price
Not bad at all. The servers make the place enjoyable. The food is alright. Seems like prices should be lower to accommodate the 3 star food. Onion rings were spot on! Croutons are gross.....deep fried pieces of bread with no flavor but the fryer oil. Fried potatoes with onions are a joke. I thought I was being pranked. Steak was perfectly cooked. The bread service is funny. Seems like wonder bread thrown in a basket. Place is o.k. for maybe a first date to wow with the fancy and high prices but definitely not a weekly or monthly return spot. Needs help. Please.
Excellenct food and service, especially upstairs. As little pricey, but it IS a steakhouse after all. Downstairs in the lounge, the people were wonderful (Came for New Years Eve), entertainment was excellent (great songs and not so loud you couldn't visit with your friends), however, one waitress was a bit ditzy, albeit nice. Also, chocolate martini wasn't what i expected. Usually it's creamy. This wasn't and not very good. Lemon Drop was good though.
First thing: Plates are $25–70. Sides are extra. I've only been one time, but the food did not match up to the price for me. I got a pork chop and green beans. The pork chop was very good, but I've certainly had better. The plum sauce for the chop was not good at all. My green beans were boiled to death and pretty tasteless. The whole plate was otherwise empty; no garnish or other accompaniment.
We had four couples that decided to celebrate Valentines dinner together. Six O’clock reservations were made at JBruners. Having never eaten there before I read online reviews. Most stated the food was good but somewhat overpriced. They charged premium prices for the entrees yet if you wanted a potato or salad you had to pay an additional 5.00 for the potato and 6.00 for a side salad. Not something I would expect when you are already paying a premium for your entrée. It was printed on the top of our menu, all entrees came with bread, salad, potato of your choice, fries or baked, or green beans. Our entire party arrived promptly at 6:00. We were seated at 6:40. I made arrangements earlier in the week to have flowers delivered. The flowers were delivered to JBruners earlier in the day for my wife. I had requested they be on the table prior to our being seated, they were not. I had to remind them, not the effect I was going for. We ordered drinks, appetizers, entrees, desert and after dinner drinks. Bill for the entire table was 750.00 or so, not including tip. Onion rings and fried chicken liver appetizers were ordered. When we asked about the onion rings our server stated they were “exquisite”, they were nothing special. Onion rings at Vinny’s in Laurie are much better and not as expensive. The chicken livers were very good. I ordered the prime rib my wife ordered the batter fried lobster, she got langoustinos. Our server Steph did a good job considering the size of our group and how busy the restaurant was. We had to wait about 10 minutes for our appetizers, not bad. We just visited during the down times. Our entrees were delivered about 20-25 minutes later, again not a big deal. The “lobster” was average and the prime rib was above average. Presentation of both dishes could have been much better considering the type of restaurant JBruners’ bills itself. My wife’s 6.00 side salad was nothing special, iceberg lettuce, two cherry tomatoes, two rings of onion and dressing served on an approximately 5”X 5” plate. We had not requested our bills yet but the server brought them to us. When all was said and done my receipt showed I paid my bill at 8:58. At approximately 9:00 the hostess asked us to leave, “we need your table”, she also remarked “they were experiencing a record night and had 100 more people to serve yet”. This left me with the impression the owner and hostess were interested in turning tables and not their diners dining experience. I would expect a fine dining restaurant to want you to enjoy your “fine dining experience”. Plain and simple, they had over booked. Our group has eaten at many “fine dining” establishments and we have NEVER experienced the rudeness we experienced at JBruners. One person in our party went to talk to the owner after we left and was told there was a 2 hour time limit per table and that our group wasn’t accustomed to “fine dining”. We were never told of the 2 hour time limit nor was there anywhere in the restaurant, that we saw, stating this policy. She was told two hours is plenty of time no matter what size party. The person he told this to in our party has eaten at truly fine dining establishments all over the world. The owner may have an idea what fine dining is but his restaurant misses the mark somewhat. Being over priced and having a looping TV with an aquarium scene and dated decor does not make one a fine dining establishment. Paint can go a long way in sprucing a place up. There were other small things but not going to elaborate here. This was our first dining experience at JBruners and definitely our last. I would and will not recommend this overpriced wannabe to anyone.
The prices are outrageous ! When you charge 21 for a chopped steak(fat hamburger patty ) and fries, 38 for a ribeye 35 for strip steak 37 for primerib 27 for pasta and a piece of bread and 13 for onion rings, u should at least leave feeling u haven't been robbed.
When you spend $70 dollars on dinner and still Hungary! My last time.
Excellent food & service! Open all the time!! Great servers! Have been there a long time!
