Preguntas frecuentes sobre Fogar do Santiso
Opiniones de Fogar do Santiso Ourense
We stumbled across a wonderful place to eat online. The restaurant surprised us immensely with its unique decor and ambiance. The food was absolutely delicious, from the meats and the turnip green and cheese empanada to the broth and the exquisite desserts. The waiter provided excellent service and was very quick to serve us. I highly recommend it. We'll definitely be back when we're in Allariz. Thank you so much.
Wonderful restaurant. We had an excellent meal with home-grown meat. Spectacular. The location is amazing, a mill with every detail and beautifully preserved. The service and food were 10/10. Most importantly, we were able to eat inside with our two dogs. They were very kind and even provided a bucket of ice water. We will definitely return. I wish many places were like this and we could enjoy a great meal with our pets, who are part of our family. THANK YOU VERY MUCH, FOGAR DO SANTISO.
Highly recommended place on the banks of the Allariz River. Authentic atmosphere in an old mill, superbly detailed. We came as a group of two families and were treated superbly, a ten for the service. All the staff were super friendly, a pleasure, very nice!!! The food was delicious, everything was homemade, the churrasco was amazing, and the cheesecake was incredible!!! Thanks guys, and see you soon!!!
In the fertile surroundings of Allariz, where the poplars murmur verses to the rhythm of the neighboring river and the breeze caresses the wheat fields as if they were the hair of maidens in bloom, I found myself in an inn worthy of kings, shepherds, and wandering troubadours. There, where the murmur of the water harmonizes with the songs of the soul, I discovered a place of dining well worth singing with lute and quill. The place, of noble workmanship and warm welcome, unfolds its domains both in an interior dining room—a cozy refuge of wood and aromas—and in an exterior one, roofed and shaded like a palace of ivy and vines. Under this awning of tranquility, diners find relief from the heat and the company of the discreet breeze. Oh blessed fortune for those who travel with faithful animals! For the dogs, noble guardians of the hearth, are received without hesitation, with the dignity their loyalty deserves. At their feet lies the vast neighboring field, a green carpet where they can frolic freely like steeds on the plain. As for sustenance, a few words suffice to say much: the cuisine is fertile in grace and truth. The fruits of the earth, natural and organic, awaken the senses with the purity of yesteryear. The meat, served in a noble cut, was presented to us next to a burning grill, so that like blacksmiths of flavor, we could forge its perfection at will, from rare to well-done, according to our heart and appetite. There is no shortage of abundance, neither on the plate nor in the smile, for the portions are as generous as the innkeeper's hospitality. The treatment received, of sincere courtesy, adds flavor to the experience, which is already brimming with delight. And to replenish the spirit after the feast, there is nothing like resting your gaze on the flow of the nearby river or diving into the pool, which, like an enchanted lake, refreshes both the body and the day. So, I attest to this discovery as one of the finest feasts in the kingdom. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 stars signed by the hand of The Troubadour of Reviews, Knight Errant of Good Food, and chronicler of the Kingdom's flavors.
A very nice and pleasant restaurant with a riverside terrace and views of the bridge. The food was delicious; we especially enjoyed the churrasco (beef steak) and the cheese mousse for dessert. The quality and quantity were excellent for the price. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Highly recommended.
I had an excellent experience at this restaurant. The food was exquisite. The place is beautiful, with a rustic and well-maintained atmosphere, very pretty, ideal for relaxing. The service was also excellent; the staff was friendly and attentive at all times. Without a doubt, this is a place I will return to and wholeheartedly recommend.
We had a plan in our travel itinerary and found ourselves stranded on the road, nine of us with dietary restrictions and no reservation. We called them and they were incredibly accommodating, booking us a table with just over an hour's notice. We were delighted. A varied menu to suit all tastes, friendly staff, and excellent food. An interesting and highly recommended stop in Allariz; we even bought some liqueurs they were selling to take home. Thank you for your kindness, and we hope to return sometime when we're in the area.
A great choice. The experience was excellent. We ordered octopus, tomato salad, and empanada as starters, followed by churrasco, veal, and a finger-licking roast beef... Everything was delicious. The only negative aspect is that they should improve the desserts a bit; they don't live up to the food. The location is beautiful, an old mill next to the river with perfectly appropriate decor. The children have space to play in the playground behind it. I invite you to try it and discover Allariz. Highly recommended if you visit Ourense.
It's a very special place, with very attentive staff and service, and spectacular food. It's also very well located.
We had a firm idea of going to Allariz because of a reservation at its spa, but we didn't make plans to eat there. We found this restaurant on Google and decided to book. It was a real success in terms of location, atmosphere, food, and service. Highly recommended. Thank you Antonio for your kindness and attention.
The food and customer service were excellent. They were very attentive and made sure you were always well taken care of. They also allow pets on the terrace, but you need to make a reservation on their website.
Fogar do Santiso is the perfect restaurant if you want to enjoy a delicious meal by the river. They offer organic and locally sourced meat and produce at a very reasonable price. If you go, you absolutely must try the best garden tomatoes you'll ever taste. We sampled three different meat dishes, all of which were excellent. The staff is very friendly and attentive, especially Uxío, who is always attentive and friendly.
Highly recommended site.
It's a great place to eat for a ridiculously low price with very generous portions.
Special place! Everything is amazing and the service is top-notch. We'll be back every chance we get.
Very good place to eat quality products and with very good service
We had already come for dinner last summer and loved the variety of the menu and the little terrace by the river. We came back today for lunch, and again we had a wonderful meal under the umbrellas, and our waiters, Silvia and Gonzalo, were lovely and incredibly helpful.
Very good service and a great product
I loved it, 5 stars for Fogar, for its healthy and flavorful cuisine. Also for its work, producing, processing and transforming farm products sustainably in Galicia. It's in a beautiful location and the conversation with the staff was very pleasant.
Very tasty and varied food in a wonderful and friendly atmosphere. Toño served us fantastically and made us feel right at home. I highly recommend it.
Very good service, nice atmosphere. The coffees are the best.
Galician food with a twist :) very friendly staff :)
Generous portions and good service. We ate in the tent and found the greenery and tranquility to be incredible.
Everything was delicious, and the staff was very friendly. We ordered sardines, tripe, croquettes, and octopus, and everything was perfect. The bread is artisanal, as are their liquors and food. We highly recommend it.
The food was delicious. We ate several dishes, all cooked to perfection and delicious. The service was second to none. If we return to this area, we'll definitely be back.
A lovely restaurant located in Allariz. The owner, Antoño, is super friendly. The setting is beautiful, right next to the river, and the terrace overlooks a grassy esplanade where you'll find the Allariz public pool. Highly recommended food. Very good value for money.
The food was delicious, plentiful, and everything was fresh and of good quality! The location was very unique, and the staff was excellent!
Quiet place to spend a good day
Absolutely perfect! What a joy to find a restaurant with organic, locally sourced food prepared with so much love. Any of the menu options is a sure thing, whether you prefer meat, fish, or vegetables. All their ingredients are locally grown! Plus, the restaurant is beautiful, tastefully decorated, and overlooks the river. Congratulations!
A lovely place to eat in Allariz, next to the Romanesque bridge. Excellent service and a peaceful atmosphere the day we went. The best part is that all the food is organic, and the steak is spectacular.
Great location. Inside and on the terrace. Silvia is a supergirl.
A charming place. The waiters are very friendly and the food is delicious and plentiful.
Friendly and attentive service. Good food in a relaxing setting. Highly recommended.
A very nice restaurant. The food was delicious. We ordered steak, salad, turnip greens, and octopus, and everything was delicious. The waiters were very friendly and the service was very fast. The decor was very cozy. The organic coffees were delicious, and I recommend the cheese mousse.
We loved the place. We ordered zorza and churrasco, and everything was delicious, especially the churrasco, juicy and cooked to perfection. The place has a very cozy atmosphere, and the service was excellent. Marcos and Aixo served us wonderfully, being extremely attentive and friendly at all times. And to top it all off, there's a beautiful river next door where we went for a swim after lunch. A great plan and highly recommended!
If you are looking for a unique place to eat and good food, come and enjoy. If you are looking for plenty, go to a furancho or another place with less charm. The small but good sardines and the charcoal. The Croca de Boi is also very delicious, you can finish it on the stone. The delicious sweets. Recommended place in Allariz.
We ate inside the place which is very well decorated in the style of the old taverns of the country. Fast and attentive service. We ordered turnip and cheese empanada (very good), Iberian croquettes, pork barbecue and Viennese ham. In addition to pantrigo. Everything was delicious and plentiful. We regret the limited variety of drinks: wines and beers.
Spectacular location and delicious, traditional food. The service was also very pleasant.
A must-try in Allariz. A fantastic menu, definitely try the ribs—delicious. Homemade bread and signature beer. We were delighted. Excellent value for money. The waiters were very attentive and friendly.
Spectacular place. We ordered a Galician beef steak, which was spectacular and delicious. The staff was very friendly.
A place with a spectacular location, very nice and where you are treated like a 10. Delicious food at a very good price
Brilliant place, with great service. Food is fantastic, just simple and perfectly executed. It's such a rustic little corner in a lovely location. Highly recommended. Fantastic place, rustic, simple, with a fabulous setting. The turnip greens croquettes are delicious, and the bread is just like the old school bread we ate as kids in the village 😉
A good place to eat
The place is wonderful, the food is very good and the staff......wonderful
What a great find! We were just passing through and stopped to explore the area. As we crossed the river bridge, it caught our eye. Highly recommended. The service was excellent; they even explained the history of the place to us. The food was spectacular; we'll definitely be back.
An experience in itself, and the food is a delight. A must-see in Allariz and a complete surprise.
A very pretty place by the river, croquettes, eggplant with local cheese, beef sirloin and churrasco, with chocolate cake and another cheesecake. Highly recommended, the waiter very professional.
We stumbled upon it by chance... and we loved it. The food was delicious in a stunning setting. The waiters were delightful. I'll be back.
100% Recommended Food Location Service…
An amazing place by the river. The food is delicious and the service is great. The setting is very peaceful and beautiful. Definitely a place to come back.
We ate there today. Steak and croquettes. We arrived without a reservation at 2:00 p.m., two people, and we were comfortably seated. The restaurant was quiet at the time, so they were able to serve us calmly and get our food delivered quickly. The steak was delicious, as were the vegetable croquettes. The waiter was very friendly and attentive. Afterwards, the place started to fill up (except for a couple next to us whose husband was a bit unpleasant and noisy). The large tables kept filling up, and the truth is, the waiters and cooks couldn't work any faster. It would be nice to have more people on staff during peak hours, not because they can't handle anything, but because, hey, they're only human! Obviously, you have to be patient to eat, and the truth is, the place is worth millions. If we have the chance, we'll definitely go back. Thanks, guys!
We're already regulars at Teo's restaurant, and when we visited Allariz, we didn't hesitate. We loved the restaurant. It's cozy, welcoming, and exudes that sense of a simpler time that we love so much about this chain. The service was exquisite, especially from Marc, our waiter. The food, what can I say? Delicious as always. A menu very much in their style with organic products and a much-appreciated attention to detail. We could spend hours there enjoying the atmosphere, the sensations, and the flavors. We enjoyed the turnip greens croquettes, the garden vegetables with cheese, the cachaça sausage, and the churrasco. And of course, the final touch was the cheesecake and the cheese mousse. We loved that they'd thought of even the smallest detail. The bathrooms were spotless and accessible, with diaper changing facilities.
Not only is the food delicious, but you also get the added bonus of a wonderful location and incredibly friendly staff. Their warm and welcoming service made my visit truly special. I highly recommend it.
A must-visit for a meal in Allariz, right on the riverbank. You can eat inside or on the terrace. I recommend the latter, even if it's cold. And at night it's magical. The food is good value for money, and the service is excellent: friendly, helpful, with great recommendations and impeccable customer service. I would return every time I visit Allariz.
I was going to leave the typical review of everything being good, very tasty food, and good service, but given the cruelty of some people out there, I have to go into more detail. I don't know what some people want: Holy Week, the restaurant packed, and the waiters serving even after hours, with people arriving well past 4:30 p.m. Some expect that even in this situation, the waiter will sit with them and put up with their jokes (like the table next to us, a small group of jokers who wanted to joke around... and it seems they went completely smoothly) and their change of heart, when what they should be doing is serving us professionally and as quickly as possible (which is what they did with us). That said, I commend the guys and girls at this restaurant because they seemed like they were from another planet, and even then, they kept smiling, and there were no waiters afterward... Normal. For our part, the food was excellent, the service was unbeatable, and the service was very good. I'm not sure if he was a waiter or a cook because he was wearing a jacket. We would definitely go back, perhaps on a less festive day because we had to wait a while, but we had a very good experience at Fogar do Santiso.
A charming place; from the moment you step inside, you're immersed in the mill it once was. The staff is very friendly and attentive. A lovely atmosphere. The food is undoubtedly the best part; the croquettes are absolutely delicious, and you get about ten of them. The pizza and potatoes have a real homemade touch, which gives them that special something. But the churrasco (grilled meat) is the best—highly recommended! The portions are generous; we left completely full. And their craft beer is definitely worth trying. A real find. We'll definitely be back.
An incredible place. The food is amazing. The waiters are really nice and attentive. And let's not forget the homemade desserts, which are especially amazing. I won't hesitate to return :)
A very well-decorated restaurant with excellent cuisine. Organic and locally sourced food, everything is spectacular. They have their own wood-fired oven and make all the dishes themselves. They use whole-wheat flour, and this shows in their breads and empanada doughs. They make great use of their oven. The grilled octopus is one of the best we've eaten in the entire area. Also the baked cheesecake, another delight.
Beautiful location (an old mill, huge) next to the river and the pools. The staff was also amazing.
Spectacular! This is a truly authentic Galician restaurant. Congratulations! Could you please extend the terrace to include the children's playground next to the river?
An original Galician tavern that blends traditional Galician cuisine with a modern twist. As for the food, I found it very good, perhaps with a few tweaks. The price is very good and the quality is very, very good. Anyone who complains about having picnic tables isn't getting the idea. They'd certainly be more comfortable eating a steak in their favorite chair while watching Netflix. We'll be back! Oh, and I'd also like to highlight Antonio's service, who was always very friendly.
Perfect food but... Don't overdo it with the food hahaha, it's abundant.
Wonderful!!!! I've been a fan of Fogar do Santiso for years, but I have to admit that I loved the experience in Allariz even more... the riverside setting is incomparable, the food is spectacular (as always, and also suitable for vegetarians and vegans), and the staff is the best. They're really nice. We called to postpone our reservation, and they treated us superbly right from the phone. It's a pleasure!!!
A spot by the river with a very pretty garden. We stopped by for a coffee and they let us bring our dog.
Very cozy, surrounded by nature, fantastic surroundings, dogs welcome. Wheelchair ramp
The restaurant's location is idyllic. Stepping inside feels like stepping back in time. The food is delicious, and the desserts are exquisite. The service was excellent, and they were very attentive to our every need. A must-visit.
Excellent service and food. There were only a few waiters, but they served us very quickly and were extremely friendly. I'd definitely go back. The sangria and gin and tonic were excellent.
I'm not going to say anything good about this place so we can always have a table... just kidding. Wonderful service and excellent food, plus they let us bring our dog... we'll be back on our next visit to Allariz. Galicia Calidade 100%
Good food and a very nice location. Highly recommended. Reservations are recommended. Very friendly waiters. I recommend the grilled octopus.
A beautiful place with fantastic service. We had grilled croca and it was spectacular.
Awesome place! So beautiful! Super attentive and friendly waiters, and what can I say about the food? Fantastic! I ordered octopus and cheesecake, and they were both 10/10s. I rarely give such positive reviews. If you pass by, please come in; you won't regret it.
Lunch is a must, especially on busy days like Sundays, as it's especially popular. As for the food, it's all natural, organic, and very well-cooked. Quality food with great flavor and at a reasonable price. I recommend trying the craft beers. The bread is also delicious. Traditional and contemporary fusion of Galician cuisine. As for the location, it's unbeatable and peaceful.
Very distinctive place. I love its rustic feel and decor. The staff is very pleasant and attentive. I loved the churrasco, highly recommended. https://fogardosantiso.es/cartas/cartaAllariz.php
Excellent food at a very reasonable price. The restaurant is a beautifully renovated old mill. The waiters were very attentive and friendly, and the food was spectacular. You couldn't ask for much more from a restaurant. If the weather is nice, I recommend dining on the terrace, which is peaceful and offers views of the river. The menu is short but carefully curated (it's always better to have a few well-prepared dishes than many). In short, a place I will definitely return to.
A spectacular restaurant, super friendly to our dogs. They told us they could eat inside or outside. The food was delicious, and the waiters were superb! A 10 in every way. Highly recommended, and above all, they are DOG FRIENDLY!!!
A great find!!! I'm so grateful to have found a place with good quality organic food at a good price. The black tomatoes were delicious. The staff was also very attentive and friendly, and the riverside setting makes it hard to imagine a place I'll definitely be back to. Delighted to have met you!
I highly recommend this restaurant. The food is excellent, the prices are reasonable, and the service is unbeatable. Silvia served us, and she's a delight. The place is very pretty, and the interior resembles an old mill.
We were passing through on our way back from our trip, and it was the best place to have one last meal in Galicia. Super cozy, a beautiful place, and as for the food, nothing more to say: you have to try it. A dish to heat the beef and cook it to your liking, delicious croquettes, homemade potatoes, craft beer, 10/10 bread, and 11/10 service. To finish, an incredible cream ice cream, and to continue the trip, a pot of coffee. We'll definitely be back.
Excellent service, a meal prepared with care and love in the kitchen using local produce. A highly recommended experience, and we will definitely return.
Very nice place and very good meat!
An unbeatable location, with incredible views and peace. The waiters are very friendly, and the service and food are excellent. They serve quickly and are attentive. The only downside is the flies on the terrace, which isn't their fault given the location. But perhaps some citronella candles would help. Just a note.
Delicious food and highly qualified staff. You can bring your dog.
We were very lucky; we went without a reservation and got a table. A 10-star restaurant with organic products purchased from local producers. Very tasty food and 10-star service. We'll definitely go back, but reservations are required.
Spectacular place, with 10/10 service and food
Just like home 👌 we will definitely return on our next visit to Galicia
NO repetiremos Saludos
Something healthier, different, and original. The portions aren't too generous, but the prices aren't excessively high either. Plus, the place is cozy (next to the river) and the staff is very friendly.
The food definitely gets a 10. The price-performance ratio is good, but the problem is the service and organization. The day we ate, it felt like a herd of elephants had passed through the restaurant. The poor things couldn't keep up; we couldn't understand why they didn't have more staff on the floor, since the place is quite large for just one person taking orders/serving drinks and two others carrying and clearing plates. We're talking about a place with several interior areas and a patio with plenty of tables. We never got our bread or wine... but at least we ate, and the food itself came out quickly considering the chaos. I hope the manager adds more staff because the place deserves better service from its employees.
The staff was very nice and the food was quite good, the octopus was a little tough and dry.
Well, although I liked the original Santiso's hob, where he was, the rustic place, the joy of when Santiso went out with the cook and they, the owners, danced and played music, and it was wonderful. Now there is no such magic, that special magic that gives the place its name, and well, this is not important or yes, for me I asked for a bowl and they did not give it to me.
Located in an unbeatable setting. An old mill next to the Arnoia River. Good food and great service.
Wonderful old town with lovely cobbled streets and vine covered walkways. We sat by the river for hours enjoying the weather and scenery. We swam, ate and laughed... Great day out, highly recommended.
Good place to eat and take a dip in the river or pool
The place is a delight in every way...👍🏻🤩
The place is beautiful and the service is very good. They have very good products, although I found the food somewhat bland and the menu is quite short (I missed having some fish).
The food is delicious, the restaurant is beautiful and inviting, the only criticism I could make is that the service could be slightly better. They're charming and very attentive, but a bit disorganized and often distracted. In any case, they were very pleasant, and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I'll definitely return.
Spacious and pleasant with good churrasco, croquettes, hamburgers...
A very charming place. We were lucky enough to eat next to a stove and we had a good time. Everything we ate was delicious, but the only downside was the octopus, which was a little tough.
Very good food at a reasonable price. It's best to book if you don't want to leave without eating. The place is charming, and its surroundings are even more so. The waiters are also very friendly, offering recommendations and suggestions for portion sizes. We ate as a family with our two kids, and everyone loved it.
A fantastic organic restaurant with a wide variety of gluten-free options where you can enjoy typical local cuisine made with locally grown produce (from vegetables to locally raised cattle). Highly recommended, but remember to call ahead to make a reservation or you won't be able to eat there 😉
We went by chance without a reservation, and they miraculously gave us a table because everything was booked. The place is very pretty, rustic, well-maintained, and decorated with every detail. From the dining room, you could see the river flowing. It's an eco-friendly restaurant with a variety of food and good prices. We loved everything about it. Many different corners. It has a private dining room. From there, a lovely walk leads to the town, which is well worth seeing. Totally recommended.
Very interesting place Very tasty food at a very good price
A beautiful Enxebre restaurant in a prime location by the river. I'd like to highlight the attentiveness of the staff, especially the manager. Everything about the food was delicious, except for the corn empanada, which we didn't like, and the gratin vegetables, which we didn't expect and were quite bland. On the other hand, the desserts were all delicious. The bread is also another plus!
A nice-looking place with food that leaves you indifferent. The portion of churrasco was small, and it was grilled, not sliced. So it was tougher and greasier. The empanada on the menu wasn't really an empanada at all, but a small pastry with little flavor. I had high expectations and left disappointed. The coffee was cold. On the positive side, the place is lovely, and the waiters were very helpful in finding us a table, as it was quite busy.
🍽️ Restaurant review in Allariz, Galicia A pleasant experience overall. The service was excellent: the staff was very attentive, friendly, and prompt, which made the meal even more enjoyable. The love in the kitchen is evident, with homemade products that convey authenticity and traditional Galician flavor. However, there are some aspects that could be improved. The restaurant was plagued with flies, which made the meal somewhat uncomfortable. Furthermore, the meat wasn't up to par with the rest of the dishes: both the cooking and the flavor could be refined to offer a more well-rounded experience. 💰 The price-quality ratio is acceptable, with no surprises. It's not cheap, but it's not excessive for what's offered. In short, a place with a lot of potential thanks to its service and homemade cuisine, although there are some details that could be improved to make the experience truly memorable.
Terrible service, waiting almost an hour to start eating. Expensive
I expected something else. It's a bit out of the ordinary. The tables are very narrow and close together, and they barely provide plates, forks, or knives. We asked for them, but they forgot. The menu sounds good, but the dishes are a bit disappointing: cold, undercooked meats and fish. The prices are luxurious for a restaurant.
The place, with its trendy rustic and traditional decor, is fine. The interior is labyrinthine. The terrace has a few umbrellas and tables on the uncut grass. We're just starting the season. We'll see how it is at the end of summer. The staff is very attentive and eager to cheer and help, but they're scarce, as everywhere lately. The food, which should be the strong point, isn't. Honestly, it's not lacking in quality, but... calling pork ribs a churrasco, undercooked and without any seasoning, is a bit of a challenge. The chorizo is equally bad. Not to put the ribs down, they don't have enough love and time on the grill. The croca didn't deserve to be treated like this. Everything was done without potatoes. You have to order them separately, as is the bread, which, by the way, they didn't offer me, too bad. They say it's very good. The smoked octopus, more than grilled, isn't the best I've ever had. The pork croquettes, homemade maybe, but... The desserts, the pie corn, no comments, the mango ice cream, it wasn't bad, but organic and local, I doubt it, the cheesecake, by itself, won't make me come back,
The location and the service are unbeatable, the waiter is super friendly and attentive, I give it 3 stars because the food leaves a lot to be desired, they should improve a lot.
Too many people for such poor service; items missing from menus at other locations are unavailable.
Beautiful and very iconic place. The turnip green croquettes and the beer were delicious. The bad: - We reserved a table and still had to wait 15 minutes standing up, even though we arrived at the agreed time. - The waitress with glasses was running around the dining room, rushing to clear the tables and making a tremendous racket banging plates. - They brought our food before our drinks. We asked them to bring everything in a certain order, and they ignored our request. Finally, this raxó (pork loin) was awful. Tough, cold, and greasy. In short: I won't be back, and I really don't recommend it.
Check the bill!! The zucchini noodles seemed delicious, but the raw burger (even though we ordered one more than usual) and the steak made us feel terrible, we spent the night vomiting. The sangria was awful and very expensive for a small glass that was almost all ice. The meat doesn't come with any side dishes, so you have to pay for the fries separately. The worst thing is that both times we went, they made a mistake with the bill; they had quite a mix-up of tables, bringing us the wrong thing. The first time they gave us the wrong bill for another table, and the waiter gave us a terrible response, saying we could have paid it because it was practically the same amount, making us feel guilty instead of apologizing. We believed our bill should have been higher and we informed them out of integrity. The second time, they charged us for two wines we hadn't ordered or drunk, and even the waitress argued with us about whether we really hadn't ordered any wine. The place is well located on the riverfront, and it's appreciated that it's an eco-friendly restaurant. Just to highlight something positive.
A very pretty, bucolic spot, a cozy restaurant...very attentive service. Quality, homemade food, normal portions. The only downside is the price; quite expensive for what I ate...
The place has charm. The staff was polite. The sangria was good. The food, not so much… We ordered croquettes, zorza (a Galician sausage), and churrasco (grilled pork). The croquettes were good. The zorza was very fatty, shredded sausage, which we weren't expecting. The churrasco seemed reheated. I don't know if that was the case, but it certainly didn't seem freshly made. To finish, we ordered cheesecake and chocolate cake. The worst we've had in a long time. The cheesecake was a tasteless, dense mess. The chocolate cake had a biscuit-like base, but it was completely soggy. The next day we woke up with terrible stomach upset. I don't recommend it.
I'm giving it 2 stars because the place is original, it's the best thing about the restaurant, at least I liked it. As for the food, well, I can't say the same... 🤷 I find it very average, I think there are places where the food is better and more delicious 😔 And the service, well, it's the same old thing. There are only two people to serve two dining rooms with quite a few tables, and it's a bit chaotic. Suffice it to say that the croca is served with a hot stone for you to cook (like many other places). It got cold, so we asked for another stone. After 20 minutes (actual, no exaggeration), we reminded them again, and when they brought it, they put it on the table next to us. 🤦♂️ It's a disaster... I must say that the two waiters who served us were friendly at all times, but I think they were very overwhelmed. I don't think I'll repeat it, so I don't recommend it, since my experience hasn't been the best.
Very inexperienced staff. The food was average to bad. They brought the food on a broken board, staining my wife (with the sauce), and they didn't even bother to bring her anything to clean herself with. I won't be back.
Very nice place, but the service was terrible. We had a reservation a week in advance, but it was completely useless. It took forever to get our order. The drinks arrived just as we were finishing our appetizers, and the bread arrived... well, as a complete surprise. Honestly, I won't be returning. The waiters were just wandering around while the customers were left unattended. Never again.
No volveremos. A veces no sólo vale un sitio bonito.
Look, I've been going to restaurants, taverns, grills, barbecues, furanchos, etc. for many years. The place needs a really good cleaning and the food is a shame. The churrasco is all bones, the meat for the empanada, the frozen fries, the meat empanada is good. In short, it's a shame, I won't go back.
Highly recommended, everything was delicious, and the service was excellent. The restaurant is an old mill.
*Be careful what you order or you'll get a rebuke!* This phrase could easily be the title of a play by some second-rate company set in this place, so I'll divide the review into acts. Let's go! [Intro:] We had a table reserved in advance, and when we asked the waiter which one was ours, he replied: "Whichever you want!" He then disappeared like a true ninja from our sight. From there, a frantic game of chairs began, searching for an empty table among those occupied by other diners. After ruling out a table that had a tilt that would make the Leaning Tower of Pisa look like nothing else, we settled at a round table. [The Murder:] After taking our places, the waiter took our drink orders. When we asked for a kalimotxo (wine and Coke), his professional response was, "No, we don't spoil the wine here," and he stood still, looking at me condescendingly, waiting for a choice other than one that was on that list of accepted drinks he has on file. The crime had been committed. [The detective gets going:] Listen, dear friend. You caught me off guard with your answer, but now I'm telling you this: - The customer pays, and if I want a wine and a Coke, you serve me a wine and a Coke, since I'm going to pay you the price (and without complaint, unlike what you did). It's not up to you what I do with my drink. If I want to mix it in a glass, use it as holy water, or dip croquettes in it, it's not up to you. - In the middle of 2024, the fact that a "young" guy in northern Spain doesn't serve a simple kalimotxo is simply mind-boggling. - You might one day run into someone who doesn't take your answer well, and you risk a tense moment if they respond the same way you do (like the one you had with the diners at a nearby table). - The fact that your calling card at a table is to give that answer to a customer says everything about you. The fact that you continue with the same arrogant and presumptuous attitude throughout the meal confirms it. - You don't want to spoil the wine, but you serve the drink in jam jars. [Redemption:] We thought maybe the food could fix the bad start, but nothing could be further from the truth. The delay in serving the dishes was exaggerated. When I mentioned this to the waiter and indicated that if they couldn't provide good service, they should not admit so many people, his response was "It is what it is, I'm not in charge," before immediately disappearing from the place. If you like those internet videos where a magician makes people disappear, this is your place. You'll have a great time. [A red herring:] About the food, you know that feeling when someone you like tells you they love you...but as a friend? Well, what I experienced there is a similar sensation. You go with the illusion that under the "ECO" label they advertise so often, you're going to eat some fantastic, well-prepared local products, only to be disappointed more than Albert Rivera's in the November 19 elections. The croquettes were very average, the empanada was unremarkable, the ratatouille was bland, and the turnip greens were more tense than when you're driving behind a Civil Guard car at 120 on the highway. The best were the organic sausage and the organic chorizo from Cachena, very rich and tasty. The steak arrived cold, and only after warning us about it was a hot stone brought to us. [The final trick:] With the diners at the next table complaining about how they'd been waiting for an hour, and another table shouting about why other people were being served earlier if they had arrived later, there was still time for the final trick: when we picked up the steak bone, it fell on one of us, hitting our shoulder and staining our T-shirt and jacket. With the skill of the best specialist, and after a brief "Oh, sorry," the waiter disappeared again before us. Bravo. Bravo. [Synopsis:] A place that promises but turns out to be a disappointment. A very average meal is accompanied by truly disastrous service.
I've known this since I was a child, the pioneer in Santiago and the one in Allariz. I've even been to weddings, but what I've experienced here. I'm not going to say anything. We all make mistakes, but it's been embarrassing. I don't even know where to start. It's a shame, honestly. I hope they take action. We told them we don't eat meat, and they brought us food with meat. After insisting, they brought us fried eggs. What you see in the photo seems to be it. I hope they get the business back on track and take action, because neither quality nor service were wonderful when this business was run. Having competent people was not a good idea.
