What a great little breakfast place. No wait and the food was great! Hubby's breakfast burrito was delicious and I had the just eggs and potatoes. They were a perfect soft scramble. Food came out fast and hot. Great waitstaff and quaint atmosphere. I saw the French toast on another table and it was thick, fluffy and looked like the customer was really enjoying it. This is definitely going to be our go-to spot for breakfast from now on whenever we're in town. Less than $25 for breakfast for 2!
Our party of 14 surprised Carla & her team at breakfast, & they greeted us with kindness & hospitality. Cute little outdoor patio eating area fit us beautifully, with space for the rowdy kids. Classic breakfast selections served quickly & attentively. Plenty of street parking. The children tell me they LOVED the hot cocoa!
Very good breakfast ! Took a Lil time to get seated, but it was a busy Saturday morning so that's understandable. Once sat everything went pretty fast which was awesome. I ordered the breakfast scramble which was delicious 😋 my daughter got Pancakes which she said were soooo good and some of the best she's tried, they were nice and fluffy. The breakfast potatoes were nice and soft, not overcooked at all. Great food, reasonable pricing as well. Once we ordered the food came out super quick! The servers work as a team which is nice to see
We stopped in for breakfast because this was the earliest spot open in town and had a great experience. We were seated quickly by the friendly staff and our food came out quickly as well. We had the French toast and an omelette and both were delicious. They also did several take out orders while we were eating. Highly recommend!
Always great food and service! We go here often and are always seated quickly when there's only two of us, sometimes a longer wait for groups.
We arrived early and were their first guests. Out waitress was friendly, attentive and prompt with the service. Our food was delicious. My fiance ordered Steak & eggs, and his steak was cooked exactly as he ordered. I had their break sandwich, which was perfect, and the side red potatoes were yummy. We will definitely be back!
Great house potatoes and mini pancakes. Excellent patty with eggs cooked just right. Dining on the sidewalk was good and let us have our dog with. Servers seemed short staffed but still provided great service.
Kids menu but no kids things to do on paper and crayons. Not a big deal. Food was great. Portion size was just right.
Food is fantastic. Server was a little distracted but did ok. Would avoid the bathroom.
Very generous portion. I took the egg Benedict and they were delicious. They also have gluten free bread. The servers are very nice and helpful. Parking was quite easy to find on a Friday.
This place is fantastic, always come for breakfast when we're in town.
Nice little small cafe. Food taster really good and service was quick.
Toasties is great. We have a breakfast there almost every time we visit our friends in Pebble Beach. The olallieberry pancakes are not to be missed. Sometimes you have to wait for a few minutes to get a seat, but the good service and great food are worth waiting for.
There was a little wait but totally worth it. The food was amazing and the staff was kind
Best breakfast in Pacific Grove. Friendly staff and great food!
Definitely a must! There are plenty of places to stop in and grab a bite to eat along this super cute area. Prices are pretty steep for most of them but given today's economic struggles, it is to be expected. Unless you eat at Toastie's! We visited twice. Once, a half hour before closing and again the next morning. We loved the potatoes and California scramble so much that we ordered them both times. Service was great. No wait time. Outdoor seating is also available. There are steps leading to the front entrance. However there is wheelchair accessible entrance around the side of the building by the outdoor seating. The place is small but amazing food including several Benedict options.
Our favorite place to have breakfast when we visit the Monterey, Carmel and Pacific Grove area. Very affordable and classic home-style american food. Make sure to visit on the weekend for their special biscuits and gravy.
Great place for homestyle breakfast! The omelette was full of filling and tasty, cooked perfect. The toast was served hot. The coffee was really good. The service was excellent. Our go to breakfast spot in Monterey now.
We walked in around 12 and asked to be seated on the patio with our toddler. A table was immediately cleared and we were able to sit. The service was FAST. Good variety of options on the kids menu. Hubby ordered a cheesesteak sandwhich, it was good but seemed a bit small, I ordered the pancake breakfast. All food was pretty good. Would visit again.
Can't say enough positive things about this place. I come every year during the Motorcycle races. The breakfast is so wonderful. You'd be a fool not to try this place. I really enjoy The Tortolini and eggs with Holland day sauce. It's one of the best breakfast ive ever had. Had to get a side of Beacon this time too. 5 star for sure!!!!!
The little pancakes are really delicious. I stole a few from the wife's plate. 😁 I ordered the eggs Benny traditional and that was exceptional. Everything tasted amazing. Good coffee too. The server was very friendly and the atmosphere is adorable. Great place for relaxing breakfast.
The olallieberry pancakes were just ridiculously good, possibly the best pancakes I've ever had. Life changing
It's my favorite breakfast on the peninsula. Reminds me of good diner food back in Pennsylvania. Breakfast potatoes are a must.
We got breakfast around 8, and it was very quiet inside - plenty of seating available. Service was fabulous and very fast (within 10 min of ordering) We got the waffle special with strawberries and the food was not only swiftly prepared, but also delicious. Good strawberries, and beautiful presentation. On special request, they also brought almond milk for coffee. The coffee was underwhelming (watery not flavorful), but everything else was fantastic. The atmosphere was charming and intimate with enough space to have a conversation. The pricing was very reasonable and the quality was good for the price. I would absolutely go again.
Small, quiet, quaint. Great place for an old school breakfast. Great food!
TOASTIES CAFE is a 50’s style cafe. Super decor, great service and good selection. We shared the Shrimp and Avocado Omelette with the Special French Toast. Both were delicious with superb service. HIGHLY RECOMMEND
Quiet little place off the beaten path. Definitely recommend going there for breakfast before a long day sightseeing! Prices are very reasonable and the food is very good. Home style cooking vibe. About 1 mile walk from the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Close to downtown Pacific Grove shops.
Cute place, good service, good food, prices were a little high but probably consistent with the area. They closed at 3pm the day we were there (a Tuesday I believe). They had 1 table big enough for our party of 6. Probably 7-8 could fit at that table. We saw the outside patio area when we were leaving. I assume you can sit out there to eat if the weather is nice enough.
This place is absolutely delicious! I had their Cajun chicken sandwich (pictured) and I have to say it was the best chicken sandwich I've ever had. I did have them make it spicier and added pepper jack cheese to it since I like my food extra spicy. Wife had the California burger and she said it was great also. Would eat here again for sure!
My only complaint would be the pricing of some items. For example, toast is $2.50 whilst French toast is $10.50. Explain to me why adding egg/cinnamon to a piece of bread makes it $8.00 more expensive. Other than that, it was a great experience and the food is really good. Service was quick and everyone was nice. It was a relaxing place to enjoy breakfast.
Stopped here to have breakfast before heading home, and it was the perfect spot. Good service, great food, good coffee, great price point. Hub had the steak and eggs, his steak was done perfectly to order. I had the breakfast sandwich and it was exactly the right size portions. Would definitely return.
Best best breakfast I've had in ages. I almost hate to say it because it's always busy there and I don't want to be busy when I go next time, then have to wait. 😂
Had a great experience here, and I came in quite skeptical. At first I thought things might not be so great when they brought a cup of coffee with quite a bit of grounds floating in it. But they noticed and replaced it right away. We had a Philly Cheesesteak sandwich, a Malibu Chicken sandwich, and a half BLT and Creamy Tomato soup. All of us were very happy with our food and we even had some Mango Mimosas (which are available everyday 😉) Overall it was really a great experience and we’ll definitely be back.
Fabulous! Been here a handful of times on vacation. We come for breakfast, almost always sit outside, inside is clean and homey feeling. Can get pretty busy, but if you get there when they open, you don't have to wait. We share biscuits and gravy, which is a weekend special along with bacon, breakfast potatoes, and French toast with strawberries. Reasonably priced and good portions. My only disappointment is they no longer sell the merch! Have a teen and wanted a sweatshirt. It's good advertising :)
Great breakfast spot and great place to start the day! The food is absolutely delicious. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, making it the perfect spot to enjoy a relaxing breakfast. The staff is friendly and attentive, making sure everything is just right. Whether you’re craving classic breakfast staples or something a little more unique, this place has it all. I can’t wait to come back and try more from the menu.
Excellant Service! Great Food! We love Pacific Grove. Toasties is a new find for us. Great food. Great service with a smile. We walked in around 9:00 am on a Saturday and were seated within a few minutes. The Salmon Benedict was delicious! One of the best hollandaise sauces! The California scramble was also excellent. I can't say enough about the service. Always with a smile, kind, garcious. It was a relaxing atmosphere. We will be back.
Very dog friendly. We sat the in the patio. There are also tables on the sidewalk under trees. Pablo the host and Karla the server were very nice. Pablo brought out a bowl of water for the doggies. The eggplant sandwich was excellent. Very tasty. The patty melt was perfect. Our doggies had the kids chicken nuggets. Prices are moderate. They are open for breakfast at 7am and lunch.
A little niche on the corner they have beautiful indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating has been there since day 1 of opening because it all matches with the interior. We sat outdoors and enjoyed all the plants and table seating with hummingbirds enjoying their morning fed. I got the hot cocoa which was full of flavor and actually tasted like hot cocoa, the OJ is definitely freshly squeezed. I got the Italian sausage breakfast which the sausage was packed with seasonings, an actual Italian sausage came with egg, potatoes andtoast. My husband got the steak and egg with potatoes and toast as well. The steak was cooked to perfection and was juicy. They have a kids menu and we got our son the sausage and egg, which he tore up. Perfect spot for family breakfast
We had a short 15 minute wait. Receptionist welcomed us and was friendly and considerate. We chose inside which was longer wait but PG breeze and fog can be chilling. All the staff we encountered were quite friendly. Service was great. Corned beef hash.was good but potato heavy and could use more corned beef. Gluten free toast was a nice option. Special chicken fried steak was really good but needed mire spice. Grab was good. Overall, well made and enjoyable breakfast. Coffee, however, was generic and underwhelming. So easy to serve quality coffee these days. I’d like so see them step that up. We’ll be back.
A cozy place. I had breakfast and the wife had lunch. My Spanish omelette was big and tasty. I asked for my potatoes to be well done and the were. Good job. Next time I'm in the area I will be back. Friendly staff. Big portions.
Good food, good service. Our food was very salty but the flavor was good, this was our first experience here eggs Benedict and corned beef hash were pretty good just too salty for our taste. Coffee is very strong, good way to wake up. The server was excellent, made good genuine conversation which is welcome in these bizarre times.
Food felt really homely. It was good good atmosphere, staff was very kind, fast and on time service!
The food was top notch. Best potatoes I've had with a breakfast. The eggs were great. Bacon crispy, sausage flavorful. One of us ordered bacon, was given sausage instead. When we were able to catch our server the issue was corrected quickly and at no charge. That's how it's done. The service was okay... We were seated quickly and given a few moments then our server* popped up and asked for our order. No greetings just what do you want? We ordered and before I was done naming my order, the server left. The server was quick and helpful if we could pin the server down. But getting the attention of our server was a challenge. We didn't need much, coffee refill, and a water refill. Not a huge deal but enough to knock off a star. *I'm not using specifics on purpose
We were sat in a corner and out of sight so we received little to no attention, ordered, food delivered, bill presented then the server sat down to eat her own food and never said another word to us. No checking on additional needs or thanking us for coming in. Not the welcome one would expect. And... no, it wasn't busy.
My sister and I had breakfast there two days ago. The food was perfect. Pancakes, eggs cooked to perfection, crispy bacon. My only complaint is actually the service from the waitress. She was playing a game on her phone at the counter and completely ignoring customers. The guys were doing all the work because she was trying to get to the next level on a game. We sat there for several minutes waiting for her to take our order. I had to request a refill on my coffee. The family at the table next to us had to request silverware when their food arrived. I don't want someone playing on their phone and then serving my food. Maybe save that for after work. My compliments to the chef.
Food was yummy! We sat outside with our 3 year old Rottweiler who could fit under the table comfortably :-) We were the last guests to arrive and leave before closing. We did not feel rushed and were well attended to. Food was simple yummy. I can't stand a mediocre breakfast. This was not that! Enjoy.
We decided to go here because it opens early, 6:30 AM. It is a small, old school place with lots of menu options. The omelets were solid (the right amount of cheese and toppings)and the potatoes were excellent- well seasoned. Best of all it was not super greasy. The waitress was good and the prices were reasonable.
I have lived in San Jose for 18 years and many on weekends I go with my husband to different areas of the bay. We spent the weekend in Monterey and on the way back we stopped in Pacific Grove for brunch. The place is very colorful, you enter around the corner to ask for a table, there are many inside but it was a great sunny day and we preferred one of the tables on the terrace facing the street. The staff is very friendly and the menu is extensive. My husband ordered some scrambles eggs with bacon and toast, very abundant and rich. I had a omelette Portobella mashrooms red pepper caramelized ognions and swiss omelet and potatoes with lemonade. The table next to us was a cute family, mother and father having mimosas. I can't wait to go back. I love supporting small or medium-sized businesses, run by families, I prefer them to large franchises. I highly recommend this place for a relaxing time.
The food here is good. However the waitress that is usually there is never very friendly, very rarely even cracks a smile. So she makes the meal and experience a lot less pleasant than it could be. I have been there several times and I've decided I don't want to be treated as such. So I will not return.
The burger was done well instead of medium and pretty dry. No sauce on it either. It's a big portion though.
Nice place which promised good breakfast. It's your typical American fare with large portions and very heavy food. Between the 6 of us we ordered: - homemade hash - veggie omelette - 2 linguica omelette (too heavy) - eggs benedict spinach mushroom jack (too heavy) - eggs benedict shrimp and avocado (small bay shrimp so not very nice) - french toast was nice Food was decent but on the heavy notes. I thought my shrimp avocado eggs benny was nice but my stomach kind of got upset right after - just too heavy food that's all. Coffee came cold and not good. Service was ok. Prices are tad on the higher front. Would definitely try out another place next time.
If you're coming for good food, good choice. It's not bad at all and surprisingly, my Spinach, Mushroom and Jack omelette was filling for its size. As my diet doesn't let me enjoy traditional hot cakes, I gave those to my friend who joined me in trying this place out. But here's why I couldn't give it the full five: + Service - Service is pleasant, don't get me wrong. But it was one person trying to do their best with the whole place. So unfortunately, some items were forgotten (my friend's toast got delayed cause he asked to swap his hash browns for French fries). On that note, sometimes I watched the waitress approach a table, watch for a couple of seconds and then leave. Perhaps to be mindful of customers seemingly busy, but this happened to my table and we were hoping for some answers on the toast, heh. That and no refills on our drinks during our meal, just before our order was taken. + Menu - If my friend's toast issue is anything to go by, substitutions can make things finicky. Additions are pricy ($1.95 for some avocado, a side of ham or sausage comes at about ~$5). In short -- it'll do in a pinch but not my first choice.
A busy, neighborhood eatery. Lots of charm but to me the food was mediocre and normally, I'm easy to please. Corned beef should be FATTY and a Reuban should drip down your shirt. No so here.
Please look cute, but we sat and waited and made eye contact several times with our menus closed in at the edge of the table and not a single person came over or said hello or offered any coffees or drinks of any kind. Big disappointment as I’m a local and used to go there often many years ago. We are now walking to the Red house or Victorian Corner. I know they’ll be happy to have us
They ADD a 4% SURCHARGE when you use a credit card! Better establishments NEVER do this. A business has many expenses; the credit card merchant fee is one of those expenses. That cost should simply be "baked in" to what they charge. I would have NO problem if they raised their prices accordingly, but like most people, I hate "EXTRA" or any "ADD-ON" fees. The food here is very good. You can get breakfast all day long. The salads are great, and so are the sandwiches, and burgers. They have Genuine Coke products, but they still don't have Coke Zero, so you'll have to bring one from home. Easy parking, they close crazy early.
We've been coming to Pacific Grove for years and years and we have been to Toasties several times in the past but this time the food was awful. Usually there is a lot of people waiting for a seat but we had no problem getting a table. The coffee tasted like water with coffee flavoring and my eggs were cold, my sausage was burnt and my French toast was mushy and lacked flavor and I don't understand why I would have to pay an additional $2.25 for real maple syrup. The overly artificially sweet waitress didn't even ask me if I wanted to get real maple syrup but what they gave me was beyond crappy and not good. My friend's food was also bad. Cold eggs and burnt potatoes and overcooked sausages and he asked for no butter on his toast and his toast was covered in butter. Toasties used to be really good but lately it has been really lacking. I have never posted a review before but this time the food was too horrible not to mention and how hard is it on make a decent cup of coffee? Not water that tastes like water with some coffee flavoring. It's like someone forgot to add the correct amount of coffee to the coffee maker. It was horrible but at least the overly artificially sweet waitress took the coffee off of our bill but everything was really subpar and bad tasting and poor quality and service and you shouldn't be charging people $2.25 for real maple syrup. That's just ridiculous. Toasties used to be really good now it's terrible and that's a shame and they really need to have people who work there do a lot better of a job. Usually there is a lady who works there and I always see her just sitting around and has a bad attitude and then I guess she's the manager but she wasn't there this Saturday for breakfast just the bad waitress who was overly artificially sweet and annoying . Didn't even tell us the specials or anything. I don't know what happened to Toasties but seriously the service and food really leaves a bad taste and Toasties used to be really good. What happened?
Terrible. The other reviews were so good so our expectations were high... The service was horrible. For the first time in my life I considered giving zero tip it was that bad. We had to get up twice to ask for more coffee and condiments because we were unable to get their attention. I also had to send back my plate because it was stone cold. Like inedibly cold. Go somewhere else.
