This was a GREAT spot to relax, and get a bite to eat! Was reading the history on Duke. Amazing guy! And the food and drinks were awesome. Well worth the drive. I highly recommend this place, folks. I ate in the outside patio area. The sea view was outstanding! Very relaxing with a cold beer in hand, and some calamari to munch on.
Food and atmosphere was amazing and very enjoyable the whole time! Jake, our server, was incredible the whole time and elevated our experience in every way. Very quick to help out and give recommendations as well as advice to use about what to do in the area. We hope we can come back soon and dine again! Thanks Jake from the international gang from DC!
Excellent views, wonderful service, and very good food! We had a gluten free member in our party who RAVED about the Key Lime pie. The heaters in the outdoor section were perfect, making an outdoor table the way to go. Get a reservation here for a patio table and you won’t regret it! Cocktails were very fresh - if you’re trying to choose, the raspberry mojito is “fresh, fresh YUM!” Mandatory valet parking made coming and going a breeze, even though it was a little pricy. Definitely recommend this place :)
Establishment is clean. Staff if friendly and helpful. The front desk was very helpful. We were originally seated outside the restaurant but the Rainier girl accommodated us in getting a table inside the restaurant. Our experience was the greatest. Food and price we chose was perfect. Thank you so much!
Love Dukes!!! Always an awesome and lovely experience!!! If you want to sit by the window ALWAYS have a reservation or be prepared to wait about 30 to 90mins depending on the day and time... MUST have the jalapeno margarita!!! We personally dont like cucumber. It's a great date place and quick bite as well!!! Always a lovely experience to eat by the ocean!!! Enjoy. We are!!!
Dukes is a great place for either a drink around sunset, a romantic table for two, or in our case we have had family celebrations. The staff is accommodating for larger groups as long as you plan in advance and have a reservation. Service and food on point. Always enjoy when we go there. Don't forget the Hula Pie!!
I can’t honestly give this place anything less than 5 stars. My wife and I dined there last night to celebrate my birthday, and we couldn’t have chosen a better place. The manager was extremely accommodating and the staff were friendly. Both the food and the view was excellent! I don’t review much, but this place commends it. Try the herb crusted fresh fish, it’s a winner.
Great experience at Malibu!!! We arrived in a big family group, and it was a delightful surprise... Hawaian and surf based the me, a wonderful atmosphere and great attention. The food was delicious, but the ribs were a little over cooked, even that, the flavor was good, we recommend to be more attentive to that point. Besides that, the food was delicious and the Kimo's hula pie was perfect... Thank you for the great food experience with fair prices... MAHALO!!!
We were passing through Malibu on our PCH drive down the coast and chose to stop at Duke's after reading some good reviews. Our server Hailey shared some of her favorite dishes, one being the Ahi Bowl and it was a great suggestion! It had a little kick to which was perfect! We sat outside with a great ocean view! Overall, great service and really good food!!
The food here is very good. The coconut shrimp is pretty good, though not amazing. I really enjoyed the Korean sticky ribs, though I wouldn't say that they are amazing. I had the breaded fish tacos. They are big and filling. The tortillas were overloaded with flavorful beer battered fish and topped with Pico de Gallo and a tasty tomatillo sauce. Their fish chowder is delicious and creamy. The kalua pork sandwich was okay, however it was too heavy on the mango BBQ sauce. Of course the main reason to come here is the hula pie. If you like ice cream, chocolate, and macadamia nuts, you will love this. I've never met a person who didn't enjoy the hula pie.
Unexpectedly great place for a low-key wedding! I shot a wedding here last month and really loved the setting. The couple hosted a very intimate party with family and close friends and had a beautiful celebration in the banquet hall. The ceremony room is lined with glass windows overlooking the sea and has a large dancing space considering the overall size of the event area. The best part is direct access to the beach. The staff was very friendly and you can find parking for free on the road with ease, even on a busy weekend. -teri b
Love this spot! This a great place to get some good tasting food with nice ocean views. We ordered the poke tacos which were very delicious but very small. We did order the fish tacos as well that were much larger and got us full. But if you’re looking for a light snack poke tacos are a good portion. Overall tasty food and good drinks!
Great spot in the Malibu area especially for tourists who want good food. I do not know what my favorite part of Duke's was, our fantastic server, the absolutely stunning seaside view we had from our table, the incredibly delicious drinks or the fantastic food. The restaurant has valet parking which is great. The food was amazing and the portion came generously, the crab meat loosened from the bark very easily
I cannot say enough good things about this place! I had to wait a little bit for a table, but then they seated me right by the windows, overlooking the ocean! What an incredible view! Then I had the most awesome waiter, Matthew! So personable and attentive! Dining alone can suck, but he made me feel at ease! The food was awesome! I started with a perfect Bloody Mary, and had the poke ahi tuna mini tacos, a side of the macadamia nut coleslaw, and keylime pie. So delicious! I will never forget the amazing experience I had at Duke's! Thank you, Matthew!
First time here at Dukes Malibu! I am from Pennsylvania so this was a great experience for sure! Our view was beautiful! We had a reservation at 7:15 which was perfect for the sunset! Our waiter was very nice and super helpful! The food was good overall! I got the ahi furikake which was delicious and beautifully executed. The hula pie was very good as well! The only thing I will say is that the front desk ladies weren't the friendliest. They were not professional. If you are going to be in the front on the restaurant it should be expected of you to carry out wonderful hospitality to the guests coming and going from the restaurant!
Right on the ocean fun place must go to if you're in Malibu. We had a delicious breakfast but the waiter knew it was my friend's birthday and brought us a piece of ice cream cake on the house. The wonderful woman who the gidget movie and TV show was based on was there walking around chatting up with everybody she was so sweet and lovely
First time visiting this scenic gem of a restaurant. The staff and atmosphere were great, with beautiful views of the ocean, and reasonably priced food and drinks. They do offer valet parking but seems silly given that they have a fairly large parking lot themselves and free street parking was readily available too.
Duke’s has always had consistent food flavor and quality for me. I’ve been to their place in Hawaii, Huntington Beach and Malibu a number of times. Each of them we were greeted with a friendly staff and seated promptly. If it’s not too chilly the patio seating is awesome. The ocean views watching the waves, paddle boarders and sea life are so relaxing and comfortable during the meal.
I’ve been here 4-5 times now, and I’ve never been disappointed! Came here for lunch on a Saturday this time after hiking in Malibu with my wife. Got in around 11:30am, so it wasn’t very busy yet and we were able to be seated immediately. Previously I’ve sat on the patio, which is very nice, but since it was a little chilly outside this time we sat inside. Since it wasn’t too crowded, we were able to get a table right next to the window with a beautiful view of the ocean. Our server was extremely attentive and very friendly, and the food was delicious. I tried the Bee’s Knees cocktail, which was tasty - pretty simple, just gin, pineapple juice, and some local honey, but it was well done. I had the mango pork ribs, which I always enjoy - love the sweetness of the mango bbq sauce, and the ribs were meaty and well cooked. It came with the bok choy macadamia nut slaw and the macaroni salad, which are both excellent, as well as some rice, which was great for sopping up the extra bbq sauce. I’m sure we will be back again soon for another meal!
Great experience! I knew of Dukes, but never thought I would get to experience eating there. In Malibu for the first time and friends took us there. I had the Sautee mac nut & herb crusted fish. Perfectly done, every bite sweet and delicious. Save room for desert! I (and everyone we talked to) suggest the hula pie! You won't regret it. Staff very attentive and genuinely friendly, making sure you enjoy your meal and time at Duke's.
We went there for lunch. Though they are open for indoor seating, we chose to sit outside, on the deck. We had a great view of the ocean. Very relaxed atmosphere - it's very much Hawaiian inspired - and the food is just amazing. Their kids menu is very limited, just three choices, and their desert menu is even more limited, two choices (no chocolate cake ;). Nice place to bring the whole family, go with friends or just for a romantic dinner.
We wanted to get a drink and a snack with an ocean view, and Duke’s was perfect! It looked touristy, so we set our expectations at medium level, but it was the perfect place to accomplish all we wanted. We sat at the outdoor bar patio overlooking the crashing Pacific Ocean. Such a great “we are in Malibu” vibe. My husband drank a gin and tonic and I had the chilled Stolpman red—perfect for a warm day. Tuna tacos over guacamole were very nice! Highly recommend if you are looking for a water view. Parking is $8, we went on a Thursday at 1:00 pm, I can imagine it gets crazy on the weekend, but we had no wait. Heard the weekend brunch is good but get there early.
This is the first time that we have been to this particular restaurant and it was very nice! :-) The view we had was fantastic from our table was right at Waters Edge! :-) the food is really good! :-) I had a sirloin steak and it was very very tender and cooked just the way I like it! :-) my lady had some ahi steak and it was very good as well! :-) we will come back!
This was my first time here and I loved it! The ocean view from the bar top is beautiful!! You absolutely have to try their famous MaiTai! We also ordered the poke tacos and the filet mignon which were amazing! The flavors were different from your typical steak house and the filet was cooked perfect!
Eating at Dukes is a wonderful experience! We enjoyed sitting on the patio and watching the waves. The service was excellent and the food was perfect! It’s a little on the pricy side but it was worth it! The coconut shrimp, chicken and poke were amazing and so tasty! We’ll be back again for sure.
4 stars for the food, but 5 stars for the whole experience My wife and I went to Duke's Malibu since we had a surprisingly positive experience at their Waikiki location. All the staff were very friendly and attentive from start to finish. While the quality of the seafood wasn't as good as the ones in Waikiki, we still enjoyed everything. We started off with the Volcano and the calamari and the coconut shrimp. The Volcano is basically the Lava Flow minus the alcohol. Highly recommend if you can't drink. Both calamari and shrimp were good, but we would recommend the shrimp over the calamari if we had to choose one. We also shared a furikake ahi steak and a ribs & chicken plate. The ahi wasn't as good as the ahi in Waikiki, but it was still good. Some of our ribs were cold so we just asked our waiter to reheat it for us. He promptly returned the ribs to the kitchen and later brought out some hot ribs while letting us know that our drink had been comped as an apology. I think this really speaks to their level of service. We would have been completely fine with just a new set of ribs but Duke's had given us free drinks without us even having to ask. You have to get the Hula Pie whenever you go to Dukes but we also got the key lime pie. The Hula Pie was obviously MASSIVE and delicious, but the key lime pie was surprisingly amazing. It was so good that I would get the key lime pie over the Hula Pie next time.
Enjoyed a great dinner with a view of the ocean. Service was excellent albeit a little slow. Also had to wait over 30 minutes for a table but it was a Saturday evening so that was probably why. The dinner menu was a bit limited in variety, so I ended up just getting the steak. In hindsight I should have ordered the seafood.
Went to Dukes in Malibu, CA after having already have gone in Hawaii. The experience did not disappoint. Went with my husband and his coworkers for drinks, appetizers and a hula pie. The hula pie was AMAZING and the view of the pacific ocean was great too. Would definitely recommend coming here. Definitely make sure to get a seat by the window so you have the best view!
We got there and it was a full house. I wanted seating by the window so we waited like 25 minutes to get seating by the window. I didn’t mind waiting it was worth it. The food was delicious and didn’t take long to come out even though the restaurant was very busy. We parked valet here and they brought us our car. I would definitely come back. The service was great and everyone was super nice. Can’t wait to try other dishes.
Wanting to come to this place for a long time after seeing so many rave reviews about the views and the foods from fellow Yelppers. We got our chance last week as the restaurant joined the Dine LA promo. We made our reservation for last Friday for dinner here. Didn’t get to enjoy the view as by the time we got to the restaurant, the sun had already set. But the outdoor dining environment was good as we still got the glimpse of the night scene of the coastline. The whole outdoor area was heated so we felt very warm despite the cold night. The foods were amazing here. We got a set dinner from Dine LA week promo. It was $45 per person with an appetizer, a main dish and a dessert. Definitely a good deal. We got to sample all their customer’s favorite dishes. We got their coconut shrimp and calamari stick for appetizer and their Mahi fish and filet mignon for the main. For dessert, we got both their famous hula pie and key lime pie. The foods were so good. The mahi fish was cooked in Hawaiian sauce accompanied with rice and macadamia nuts. The whole dish was so tender and delicious and I didn’t leave food on the empty dish. Filet mignon was also fantastic. With caramelized onion on top, the steak tasted extra delicious. I loved the sweet corn came with the filet mignon, it was so good. Now the dessert. Both desserts were good but liked the hula pie more. The creamy pie came with rich chocolate and generous macadamia nuts. We didn’t hesitate to voraciously devoured the whole pie in no time. It was a satisfying evening for us. After hiking in the Malibu Canyon and then have a delicious meal, that’s what I called a good day.
This was one of my most favorite dining experiences. We live on the east coast and to have a view of the ocean with waves crashing on the rocks just outside the window was absolutely mesmerizing. My daughter's hot pot was too salty which she noticed after eating all the mussels in the dish. The waiter did not question her opinion when she mentioned the saltiness to him and immediately offered to bring her another dish. The Ahi Tuna plate was a winner. Our server was so pleasant and encouraged us to relax and linger to continue enjoying the view. We even bought Duke's T's as a reminder of our fabulous experience. Will definitely be back.
Amazing view! I’ve been to plenty of other restaurants on Malibu coast but this one beats them all. Loved the well prepared food. They were not only beautiful to look at but were fresh and delicious! The server was also very helpful and friendly. We had such a good time that we set up several dates here at Duke for the next few special occasions before we left! Calamari was just okay though. It’s kinda tough. Not your typical dainty calamari. I would skip this next time. Good but not amazing. Their halibut was amazing. Loved the light creamy sauce with macadamia nuts. Didn’t care for the macaroni salad though. Will definitely swap it for something else next time. It’s the only thing we left almost untouched. Otherwise, we cleared our plates. The coconut shrimp was good, better than average but nothing you can’t find in this neighborhood. Same with fish and chips. I would pass on burgers as well, though they’re good, it’s not extraordinary. Our least favorite was the ahi poke bowl. For some reason, all the ingredients didn’t blend well. Ingredients were my favorite things and I was thinking, how could it go wrong? But it was definitely not the most tasty poke. We had better ones and next time, we won’t get it for sure. The Hula Pie is a must. We thoroughly loved it. Could’ve ordered one per person! Please save your stomach for the dessert. Would come back just for this! All in all, we loved our experience and will definitely come back to try other entrees on the menu!
They had a special for "Dine LA" where we eat got to order an appetizer, entree, and dessert for a good price. The food is delicious and filling. The fish, pork, and chicken were all delicious. You definitely need to save room for dessert because the hula pie is something to share!! Great spot to visit for a late lunch or early dinner after a day at the Getty Villa.
After a couple hours of touring the Getty Villa, my family and I worked up and appetite. Since we were in Malibu, why not a beach front restaurant. Upon arriving around 5pm on a Friday, we were greeted pleasantly and seated within 5 mins without reservation. Our server was great with answering questions about the menu and making recommendations. We ordered seafood hot pot, fish tacos, kids Mac n cheese, burgers, calamari, and nachos. Pro: -friendly service -food was good -views were amazing Con -valet parking only
Took a drive down to Malibu for lunch. We could not have chosen a better place than Dukes. The atmosphere is chill, cute, with a water view! The staff was nice, but our server Hailey was definitely amazing! She was courteous, attentive, patient and sweet. She really made our experience a memorable one, and we will definitely be back! We were fortunate enough to get outdoor seating with a clear view of the beach, if that’s what you’re looking for I recommend making a reservation in advance. If you don’t mind eating indoors, then the seating is typically first come first serve, unless someone reserves it. The food was delicious and filling. I didn’t get pictures of everything, but I had the mango BBQ cheeseburger, and that mango BBQ sauce is what really made the burger for me, but everything looked good (lol I was checking out what other tables ordered). Then I got a dessert. I forgot what it was, but it was the only thing on the menu other than a Keylime pie. Whatever that dessert was, it was very much shareable and again very delicious (check out the picture). But again, if you are cruising down Malibu and get hungry check out Dukes it’s definitely worth a try and hopefully you are lucky enough to have Hailey as your server!
great experience, there was a wedding reception so they opened the doors a little later. I ordered the ribs and changed the rice for fries. my friend ordered a burger and wow it was a delicious burger. the key lime was also so yummy! oh and I ordered the spicy cucumber margarita also delicious. the waitress was so sweet overall so nice!
You are off for the day, it’s 106 degrees in Camarillo, and you want to get away for the day. You drive the iconic Highway 1 past the packed state beaches looking at the cerulean waters of the Pacific. Pulling off the highway with precaution, you turn your convertible ( You wish!) over to the valet and enter Duke’s. Imagine transporting to Hawaii for a few hours and sitting right on the water. Everyone is in Hawaiian attire and is happy and friendly and offering Hawaiian libations with pineapple and lavender and other exotic combinations. The menu offers up steaks and Hawaiian plate lunches. Top it off with Hula or key pie for a very memorable afternoon!
Fun little spot with locations across California and Hawaii. Really nicely done Hawaiian vibe with decent food. Enjoyed the ocean view and lively atmosphere. The chicken tenders were crunchily breaded, but the fries were a little soggy. Probably the biggest downside of the visit. Our waitress (Carmin) was very attentive and kind. The Hula pie was creamy and delicious. Definitely worth trying. Keep up the good work, Duke’s!
They go out of their way to make you happy and comfortable. The waitresses are amazing. Comped our dessert. They moved us to another table so we could have a better view of the ocean. Everyone was so nice. I would definitely recommend making a reservation. The food is delicious. My steak was perfect. Would definitely go back next time I'm here. This was my favorite place during my visit to Cali.
My wife and I decided to take a day off of work and go to the beach so we took full advantage of the opportunity and away we go. We went to the beach for a few hours and then we planned on coming to Dukes in Malibu for lunch date and the view of the ocean which was so beautiful. I got the prime sirloin steak and fries with a side salad and it was really delicious. The server was really nice and accommodating. As you could see in the pictures, there's plenty of seating inside the restaurant and they have an attached party space for large groups of people who wanna rent out the space. The ambience at Dukes is very chill and relaxing with a view of the ocean. I mean how can it get better than that? There is no street parking as far as I can tell and only a valet parking lot in front of the restaurant that was the only downside of Dukes. I would definitely recommend Dukes for anybody who's in Malibu and wants to have a good lunch or dinner with the view of the ocean. Amen and yes please.
Had an amazing experience, from the welcome, to the atmosphere, the food and especially some timely departure advice due to PCH closure. The hostess took a genuine interest in us and the special occasion that we were celebrating. She took multiple pics of us without us even having to ask (when does this ever happen these days?). The food was great, beer was cold and crisp and the key lime pie was divine. Definitely on our list to revisit and reco to friends.
Great place if you want a drink and a bite to eat. Service is pretty slow and our waiter was easily distracted. Food was great and atmosphere as always was on point. Been going here since 2001! Not a whole lot has changed. Suggest going to the u shaped bar in the back and getting your seat at the window so you can watch the ocean. Often you can see dolphins/whales swimming by.
Go here for Great views, friendly service and delicious food. We got there before it opened and there were at least 20 people waiting… a good sign. The food and drinks were amazing and the flavors were perfectly paired and at the appropriate intensity. I had the steak & fries and my date had the mango bbq burger. Both were cooked perfectly and came out hot and fresh. Must visit again to try their Volcano frozen cocktail.
I loved this place especially the location it was by the beach side. We enjoyed the ocean view with the splashing waves with the awesome food. The macaroni was very delicious and the drinks were great. The fish tacos were really nice. The service was amazing and we would highly recommend this place as they have a pretty good menu options.
From the moment we met Natalie and her team and walked into the Ocean View room, we knew this was THE space where we wanted our wedding to happen. And through the months of continuous indecisiveness, Natalie and her team were so abundantly supportive and helpful in making the important decisions regarding our wedding. The planning process became doable because Natalie and Tina were always willing to go the extra mile, no matter how simple the request. Besides the amazing team, it is truly wonderful to be given an option that was not a classical wedding menu, but really fit the Hawaiian 🌺 and seaside 🌊 vibe of the location. We were able to try many different menu items and make slight adjustments with our $150 credit before the wedding. Natalie and her team made sure that allergies were well noted and that special plates were being accommodated for our guests. Our guests raved about the food! The staff during our wedding was competent, quick, and efficient. They accommodated our needs in storing our wedding cake the night before the wedding and allowed space in their schedule for our baking fairies to put on the final touches before our ceremony. We were able to add our own desserts for a dessert fee per person, and the kids loved the ice cream Hula pie that was provided by Duke’s! We fell a bit behind in our schedule on our wedding day, so the only thing that could have been better was if we had actually had the chance to enjoy more of the wonderful and delicious food that we chose. Find a good photographer and get ready for a picture-perfect wedding! Thank you so much, Natalie and Tina for your continuous support and dedication in making our day so special! We can’t wait to return for another seaside meal at Duke’s and to relive some moments of our special day. 🩵 Laura & Oscar

Met with some friends for afternoon burgers and beer. The view was spectacular and my medium rare burger was juicy and soft. Had a good time so I will likely return back to this surfer burger joint.

although have kept some tables for walkins, I would highly recommend making reservations. Covid protocols are great here - servers were masked and shielded up. Service was warm and friendly. Enjoyed the furikake ahi tuna very much - it was very fresh. The seafood is better than the meat dishes! We were seated at the outdoor shaded tent and they have heaters too.
Loved the atmosphere! Such a great vibe definitely a variety of people hanging out. If you live tiki bars and seafood this is your new go to! Valet is 12$ and it is valet only! Reservations are preferred and walk ins are first come first serve. They has great options for food. The servers were great 👍🏽 Fast and attentive. Their drinks were tasty and reasonable.
First of all driving down PCH to get to Duke‘s restaurant is great scenery when she get there they have convenient valet parking. It’s it important to make reservations we were here for our parents anniversary. thought it was appropriate due to the fact that they support Maui in their relief effort. food was great. I love the calamari. The dessert is wow and this service that we received from Taylor and her crew was great. She read the room well and everything was in order. She was able to deal with my obnoxious self. Lol.
We had a very good time at Duke’s! The food was very good! I got the fish tacos, my bf got the ribs and chicken, and his son got a burger. And we split delicious coconut shrimp for an appetizer, and the amazing hula pie for dessert. We all liked our drinks (pog cocktail, mai tai). I’m knocking a star off because staff were not as attentive as they could have been. I needed a water refill and never got one, though I saw our server filling waters at other tables near us. And our dirty entrée plates weren’t taken away, even when dessert came, and a bus boy passed us a few times. We were never offered a box for leftovers, and had to call after our server to get one. Maybe our server was having a bad day, or other parties were being demanding of her time, but it felt like our table was not a priority and that was disappointing.
We came here for lunch on a Tuesday and we were seated right away for a party of 2. We ordered the calamari and steak plate and ribs/chicken plate and two Mai Tais. Portions were decent. Calamari was amazing. Very crispy and the sauces were delicious. Chicken was cooked perfectly. Ribs were juicy and tender. Steak was cooked to our preference. Mai Tais were delicious. The view was the cherry on top. Bring cash for valet ($6).
Super clean! The personal are excellent taking care of their customers, and the stunning view of the Pacific Ocean were you obviously enjoy your meals is fabulous. The food is delicious, however this time I decided to order the Ahi Poke which is not a heavy meal and is refreshing but the after taste of the onion lasted in my mount for few hours and do to the pandemic restrictions they are even busier than ever. Overall, I highly recommend it.
Some fun in the Sun at Duke's Malibu! We had a nice time there and the food was pretty good 👍. No homeless hanging around so that was a big plus. We ate on the covered patio and it was worth the 1hr wait. It was a Saturday and we didn't have a reservation. Be ready to get your money out for $10 valet parking! We parked at a small park across the street a ways. We got lucky with one free space open. It would be nice to have free parking spots available at Dukes. We had fish and chips for $13 and fish tacos for around $20. Not a bad choice for the money and it was pretty darned good. We really liked watching the waves crash upon the rocks just a few feet away. Pretty and even a bit romantic. I highly suggest eating on the patio because it's a little dark inside and the center area had a weird smell. I couldn't figure out what it was. It would be great if they fixed that because it was pungent ~ P.U. It was busy too. Oh, and the waitress was nice and helpful - cudos to her. So, go to Duke's, make a patio reservation and enjoy the tasty treats!
Was very busy on Sunday we had a party of 8 the wait was going to be at least an hour, lucky we were able to find a table at the bar. Strongly suggest making a reservation. We just got apps the sticky ribs were very good but on the spicy side my favorite thing was the Mac and cheese the kids are spoiled with how delicious it was.
Very few people in the large dining area, some crowd at the bar room. Simple menu. I ordered some seafood combo, it has lobster tail (just a bit chewy), few shrimps, fish, mussels mixed with bean sprouts in a white, alfredo-like sauce with rice. Very tasty. Location is right on the beach with waves crushing down the shore. Beautiful vew.
Very good restaurant with an amazing ocean view. If you’re lucky you might see the sunset as well. The staff were friendly and overall the experience was good. The cocktails were too much sweet and diluted. Honestly it was waste of money. Between the dishes we tried the Mac Nut Halibut and Seared Ahi bowl were the best. Highly recommend them. The filet mignon was nothing special, and the chicken in the chicken & ribs dish was super dry.(though the ribs were good). You will also get a free Hula Pie if you have a special occasion.
We took some friends to Dukes for a birthday celebration after going to the one in Maui a few months ago. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable of the menu and friendly. The food was super fresh. The tuna sashimi was my favorite but everything was so good! A perfect celebration with an ocean front view! They could use a facelift on the inside decor, that’s my reason for four stars but over all a great experience!
The food and appetizers were very well made, however the sizing was quite small for such a large price (especially the shrimp). The burger was honestly mid but the fish plates excelled. The view is amazing, you look right out to the pacific. Valet parking was a bit odd and added to the costly experience. Service was great, we were seated very quickly (granted it was a Monday night), and would overall recommend to visit when in Malibu.
Service and view were phenomenal. Very friendly and accommodating. Wonderful overall experience. We rated the food 4/5 because we felt the sauce on the steak was too mild but the steak was great. Wish there were more asparagus stalks with it. Fish and chips were good but have had tastier fries. Pie was yummy - but tasted like typical ice cream pie (tasted more like vanilla ice cream than macadamia nut). Hummus plate was very good. Parking is valet ($12 on day we went), but there is also free street parking.
How am I at California native and have never been here before?! So many people have told me to check this place out. Did you know they do weddings here too? I made reservations for my anniversary. It is highly suggested you make a reservation which is easy to do online because it tends to get very busy. Dukes is not only popular because of their food but their prime location right in front of the ocean. We were seated by the window and I loved looking out at the waves and hanging out with the seagull named Franklin. Our server was Sophia and she was super sweet and helpful and told me some of their top selling drinks and food items. She said their most popular drink was their Dukes Mai Tai. Delicious and very strong. I don’t normally drink alcohol so it took me awhile to finish it. I can see why people like it. It’s topped with a piece of pineapple which makes a fun addition. For my meal I got the coconut shrimp which comes with their house made macaroni salad. It was amazing. They have a limited menu when it comes to food so if you like a place with a ton of options, then this might not be the place for you. Valet parking was $8 when I went during lunch time.
It was just okay. Honestly, the best part of our visit was having Jake as our server; great energy, doesn't hate his job, spent the time to talk to us about the menu and didn't leave us hanging during our stay. Otherwise, food was lackluster and for what we got, the bill was a product of the rent which is expected of an ocean front restaurant in Malibu. We got the best seats in the house so that made up for it a little bit along with the great service we got. Although the chef is going in the direction of "deeply delicious" with the cook and flavors of the Sticky Ribs, on our pallet the salt was too high; slightly off balance. The mayo on the Poke Tacos really degraded the freshness of the fish and all around wasn't an ingredient fit for the dish...dairy and fish are a pesky pair. The biggest letdown for sure was learning that the chicken wings had been taken off the menu which was the driving factor for coming in in the 1st place. Dukes isn't bad nor great but out of most ocean front restaurants in Malibu, it does the trick. Aloha🤙.
Really beautiful view, especially if you sit by the window. Atmosphere rating would be higher if it was a little busier. Our waitress was fantastic and the food was ok. The espresso martini was pretty standard and the appetizer was delicious. My Parmesan crusted halibut special was wonderful with the lemon butter sauce though they should serve it with more sauce on the side. The fish wrapped in banana leaves was ok. The flavors were good but the shrimp was completely overcooked to the point that it was rubbery. Come for the view and drinks as it is fun to sit and watch the people on paddle boards and birds.
My sister had been dreaming of visiting this restaurant for years and we finally went! Beautiful space, the views are breathtaking! The prices were outside of our budget so we ended up eating some delicious starters and that desert was out of this world! Would return (probably having saved a bit more this time!)
good drinks and tacos, wasn't a fan of their desserts but the view is amazing! nice staff

Food was ok, not great. Seafood did not have fresh taste. Paying for valet when that is the only parking choice is not service forward. Nothing special. Will not return.

If you want non-homemade food then Dukes will fir the bill! We were so disappointed! Our salads lacked any taste including the dressing and the lettuce was not chilled and on the limp side. We …
Pretty easy review. Food is a 3. Service is a 5. Drinks are a 5. The view is a 5. Would write more, but frankly that covers it all.
We have been to several different locations of Duke’s so on a recent trip to California we decided to visit the one in Malibu. parking in the lot is valet only. There is street parking but it’s r…
Today we had the worst stake meal ever. Firstly the restaurant is dated and the fit out has no story and no atmosphere. Only when it fills up with customers it feels ok. Otherwise it feels your eat…
The food was good. It was my first time there. The drinks were so-so. I made a reservation on Open Table for 1:45 PM. We were about a half hour late due to traffic on PCH. Open Table guarantees the reservation is held for 2 hours . When we checked in, the unfriendly hosts said they gave the reservation away because we didn't arrive in time. And we would have to wait 20- 30 minutes. I overheard her tell walk-ins the same thing. When we got to our table, I was surprised to see so many open tables. We drove all the way from the other side of town from So. Pasadena. The hostesses were snarky and unwelcoming. I won't be going back there again.😫
Pretty touristy & over-priced but very friendly servers and food was good. Famous for its sea-view, the venue was very large and not particularly busy. Service was very friendly and food came quickly. It was nice, not incredible. Reasonable portions. The forced Valet at $8+tip in a huge empty parking lot where they drove my car about 3 metres left a sour taste.
The breakfast brunch buffet is gone! The brunch menu was very limited, and my food was not good. I got kids fish and chips and they were completely soaked in oil and soggy. I sent them back. My pancakes were hard to cut, and sub par. I used to love it here... I def won't be back for Sunday brunch.
Very nice view and loved the k bbq ribs so much flavor!!! The calamari was okay a little too much breading and the lava flow while so delicious could have had a bit more alcohol. The Yukon mashed p…
