Great experience overall. The chicken pot pie was rich, comforting, and perfectly baked with a flaky crust. The drinks were well-made and paired nicely with the meal. The server was warm and welcoming, creating a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere from start to finish.

We are from Massachusetts, and traveling in California. We were looking for a place to grab a bite for dinner. I found Pappy's online. We stopped here and knew we were on the right place. Pappy's is not only a great place to eat, but it also has a great bar. Its located on Pine Street in Paso Robles, California. We had fried Calamari and Boneless wings to start then we had fish & chips, clam Chowder, and my sole had Nac & Cheese with bacon and chicken. Everything was well made and delicious. I highly recommend Pappy's! If you go there on Thursday evenings during summertime the town has live music in the town Square across the street from Pappy's.. Enjoy!!!

Everything we ate here was amazing! The drinks were on point and priced fairly. We had the Reuben, one with garlic fries and one with a salad, both sides were so good and the corned beef was tender and tasted fantastic! We also had the short rib jalapeño burger that tasted great but was also spicy hot (we like spice and this is on the spicier side).

My wife and I came here on a Monday evening to enjoy a after dinner nightcap. I ordered a "Liquid Gravity IPA" and my wife ordered a "CocoMellon" Cocktail. She really enjoyed it! I also liked my beer.

The pepper did not work. Bennett was fantastic though, and replaced it with no complaint. Lovely drinks and food. Would recommend.

Cool spot with good people and a great vibe. The food was good. I ordered the meatloaf; I don’t like meatloaf, but it’s on the menu so I thought it would change my mind. It didn’t, but I can see why people would like it. The glaze on it was good so I scraped it off onto my mashed potatoes. The garlic green beans were really good. The famous calamari was also really good.

If you want a sensational New England Clam Chowder you'll come here. Pappy McGregor's knocked it out of the park! The creamy soup had perfectly cooked chunks of clam and topped with crumbly bacon which reminded me why the phrase "everything is better with bacon" exists! I paired it with their incredible corned beef tacos. The appetizer of roasted brussel sprouts with balsamic and goat cheese started what I consider to be the best lunch I've ever eaten!!!

Always an excellent experience here! Ian was an awesome waiter with impeccable service. Love the atmosphere here. It’s definitely a must. Got the Blarney Burger and Meatloaf. Everything was great.

Best Food for Late night arrivals into Paso Robles! Great service! Naomi was awesome, so sweet & patient with my many “personalizations” of their menu 😂 Local place, watermelon basil hit the spot after a LONG drive up from LA & the Steak & Shrooms definitely worth waiting to eat till we hit town! Also has 2 “Pappy Hours” weekdays 3-6 & Sundays-Thursday 9-11pm… and late night snacks on Friday & Saturday 10pm -1am (but I haven’t been able to stay up that late yet). Our Favorite local spot on the way to the Lake!

Located right in the heart of Paso Robles, in front of the park. Street parking only. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating. Great food with great service. Must try their poppies and irish coffee,

Great craft cocktails paired with unexpectedly incredible food in a pub setting. Although the prices seem high at first glance, the servings are enormous and the high quality more than justify the numbers. I fell hopelessly for the lobster mac and cheese, and the tuna melt was excellent. Truffle fries could have used more truffle flavor, but it's hard to complain about much else. Awesome spot!

Well there is way to much to say about this place!!! First the cocktails!!!! They have plenty of alcohol in them!!! Then the sweet potato fries!!! One word. Addicting.... then the Chopped salad. Was refreshing and plentiful with a ton of blue cheese flavor and enough to feed 2... the third item was the pub nachos... 2 words.. not impressed, 3 tablespoons of meat!!! Really!!! Chips didn’t have much flavor!! Wouldn’t order that again!! We had cucumber margarita and Bloody Mary!!! I will definitely go back! Service was 5 stars. Our tab was $66. We left happy!!! And waitress was on point, never had to ask for anything! Left her a $20 tip...

Pappy McGregor's came straight out of left field to be THE stand-out stop during our trip to Paso Robles. It outshined more expensive, excellent food & drink spots with reservations. Equal parts casual pub with big portions, and fancy cocktails & mocktails. Do yourself the favor - Don't skip out on Pappy's. Do be prepared to take a nap afterwards though.

Great place. Best clam chowder ever! Calamari is fabulous! Ruben and fries were top notch. Great staff.

Cool Irish Pub with Irish beers on tap. Respectable selection of local brews. It also seems like a great place to try some Irish whiskey. However, we were there for early lunch. The burger was really, really good. Fresh ingredients? Inspired chef? The burger was much more than what should be expected for pub grub. The patty was just the right dome mess. Bacon added Smokey flavor. The salad wash very good too. The side of onion rings with the burger only came out to three. Also bit pricey but worth it for the quality.

My spot to stop for something good to eat, I should try something else eventually. But the fried chicken sandwich is AMAZING just the right spice and juicy chicken. Today I had the lunch special prime rib sandwich and salad - ask for little onion on salad , I had to pick off too much . .

Wow, just wow. Where do I begin? I guess the only rational thing to do is to start from the start. Everyone knows about the first 7 days but what most people don’t know about is that on the 8th God mad Pappy McGregor’s. The evening ignites when the priestess Naomi brightens your existence. Next you order your food and our girl Naomi already knew what you were gonna say. Then the most life altering food just appears on the table. It’s not a miracle, it’s meant to be. The taste is something you just have to find out about for yourself….but be ready to never be satisfied by anything else ever again. Sorry babe, my heart is for Pappy now. I’d keep going but then I’d ruin the fun…. So just come in.

Never disappointed… we tried something new …normally have the chicken pot pie which is always AMAZING! This time our party had tried different items on the menu. We enjoyed the lobster Mac n cheeese, the steak and shrooms, and ma’ the meatloaf. All so great!

Best burger I've ever had. I came back a second time and I ordered the same thing. The triple B burger is by far the most amazing burger I have ever had. I had a salad with my burger and chose the citrus vinaigrette and it is the best dressing that I've ever had as well. Their drinks are on point as well. Everything was just as amazing the second time.

Food is always excellent. Love when they have some sort of happy hour specials. Did you know James Dean: Hollywood screen legend James Dean met an untimely death just outside of Paso Robles in 1955? It’s unfortunate because he would have loved Pappy Mcgregors

The food was excellent here; we had the lobster mac and cheese and the meatloaf. We also had the cheesy tater tots as an appetizer but wolfed them down so fast we didn't even get a picture...they were amazing. I would want to go back and have that for dinner and not share with anyone. Lol. Service was good and the drinks were excellent as well!

As locals, we love the history and heart of Pappy’s. The service is as fantastic as the food; both feel like a warm hug. Cozy vibes. Also, if happiness were a flavor it would be their French Onion Soup.

Great food, fast friendly service and a relaxed vibe. Lunch specials are a great value. First time in, but will definitely come back. Half Reuben with salad and sliders with prime rib chili are all hits! Yum!

Started off with the fried calamari, delicious, huge portion - easily a main or shared with someone else as an appetizer. The beef short rib burger was amazing. Succulent and flavoursome. The fries were a little on the salty side for my liking. Fantastic selection of beers and other stuff like cocktails and spirits. Nice rustic vibe with some screens showing live sports. Staff were all friendly and attentive too so all in all, a great place.

Had an amazing experience at Pappy McGregor’s in Paso Robles! The view sitting outside was beautiful, and the atmosphere was both lively and inviting. The service was top-notch—friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home. The food was absolutely delicious, with every dish full of flavor and perfectly prepared. It’s the kind of place you want to come back to again and again. Highly recommend if you're in the area!

When you think “Irish Pub,” you think run down, dirty, unsanitary restroom, sub-par food & drinks. BUT this place exceeds expectations by far!! The food was excellent, the espresso martinis were beyond my highest expectations & the bartender was of great service. Everytime I visit Paso Robles, I will be sure to stop by & support. Chicken wings & Shrimp Pasta were excellent. My friends ordered the burger & they said it was one of the best they’ve ever had. Kudos to you guys for having all around excellent hospitality.

Why 5 stars on each you ask? Well, because the food is ultimate in comfort, the service is well organized and prompt, and the atmosphere is low key pub family time during the day and classic Irish pub at night. So grateful to have this spot in our quaint little town of Paso. Cheers! And order the ‘Dew and.a Brew’ combo! Tasty and it’s discounted along with other great specials during the ‘Pappy Hour’. 👍 Pic: Secret menu fried pickles oh yeah!

We absolutely love coming here when we can. We love the chicken wings. Best in Paso Robles in our opinion. All of the food is delicious. Great place to hang out and grab a beer.

Pappy’s has been one of my “go to” restaurants in Paso Robles. The owners and staff are friendly. The food is great and so are the drinks. You won’t be disappointed.

Great environment! I ordered a burger and some clam chowder and both were excellent. I will definitely visit again when I'm in town.

Had a great dinner here, our server (I think his name was Ian) was great. Friendly and tentative. The food was fresh and delicious. There was a woman training another woman and the trainee did great and was friendly. The trainer was a bit obnoxious, came off rather snobby. Other than that, we had a great time.

Surprisingly good food at an Irish beer house. Had the burger with garlic fries as well as the garlic shrimp pasta. Both come out excellent. The atmosphere is typical Irish pub.

5 stars for Pappy McGregor’s! The Oysters Rockefeller were outstanding—rich, flavorful, and perfectly executed. My savory salmon entrée was delicious and cooked to perfection. Super friendly service made the meal even better. A must-visit in downtown Paso Robles!

For the gluten free peeps, I was really excited to see they had gluten-free buns. I'm not celiac, so I can't comment on that process. I haven't come across to many gluten-free burger options. The burgers were good! A little pricey, but definitely a great place to hangout with some friends. The waiter was soooooooo nice! I'd go back.

Wow! Great food!! Cool Irish pub type vibe. Everything was delicious! Calamari was a sizable portion, crispy/crunchy, not rubbery either. I got their Reuben, nice crunch on the bread, meat was juicy, nice balance of flavors. Hubby got the burger, he loved it especially since they would cook it rare. Simple but tasty salad as a side. Service was fast and friendly despite being a very busy Friday night. Tables were comfortably spaced too with CoVid regulations. It was a bit pricey, close to $100. But we did get an appetizer, 2 entrees, and 2 beers. But it definitely felt worth the price with a great experience overall.

Great little spot in the center of town to grab appetizers. We sat on the back patio which is very quaint and comfortable. We ordered nachos and buffalo wings which were both delicious and good portions to share. We were there midday and it wasn’t too busy which was surprising on a Saturday. Our server while very polite was not very attentive. We sat for almost 20 minutes after finishing our apps before he resurfaced to bring us our check. All considered it was worth the stop in.

A

The calamari was very good. The potpie was flavorful, good portion sizes. Jackie, our server was very attentive.

S

The 'Steak & Shrooms' share plate is insanely great. The All-American cheeseburger is also recommended, as is the French onion soup. The back patio is dog-friendly, well shaded and very relaxed. Great spot on a warm afternoon.

Great place for a bite. Cheap and good lunch specials. Got wedge salad with steak and it was meaty, liked the blue cheese and bacon on it. Friend liked her mushroom vegi pasta.

Food: 4/5 Service: 4/5 Ambiance: 3/5 Overall: Good food in a bar setting. The extended review... Food: Chicken Pot Pie - 4/5 - Great flavor and well proportioned fillings. It was a decent sized entree and I was very much full after eating it. Service: 4/5 - Friendly and attentive staff. Ambiance: 3/5 - The setting was definitely more bar/pub like.

Really good atmosphere and food — my meatloaf with glaze sauce, and accompanying whipped potatoes and Brussels sprouts — were outstanding. It was a football game night, so lots of excitement and sound.

C
Carly Tailor

The espresso martini has whiskey which was not very clear on the menu and when we asked the waitress about the drink. If you like general espresso martinis, DO NOT ORDER! Be warned! Tomato soup & grilled cheese is vegetarian yay!

P
Pat Sheen

Excellent short rib nachos! Grilled cheese and tomato soup was delicious. The steak was a bit undercooked and under seasoned. Drinks were excellent.

Used to be a lot better. Has become part dive bar, part dance floor, part resteraunt. Its the go to place in Paso on a budget and usually has room.

F
Fuzzy Paschal

The place is comfortable and the staff is very friendly. They said the chicken pot pie is a house favorite. I agree. My wife had the grilled cheese and tomato bisque and decided it was too good to not eat it all. I had to have them box up the pot pie or I would have finished it also.

I asked for well done and no no no it’s not but they put it back on grill with no problem 😍

G

We just wanted a nice place to eat while we were headed south. An Irish pub sounds like a unique option. What we actually got was unremarkable food in a bar that smelled like someone peed on the floor the night before. At least the service was good.

C
Calvin Burns

Server didn’t know where the food came from or if it was free range chicken or caged pump meat full of antibiotics. Unaware of the food is organic or not. Taste good but am I eating the same ingredients they serve at McDonald’s? Could not tell if the wagyu burger was frozen or even wagyu. Definitely had tons of sugar on the sauce. French fries and sweet potato show up in a bag, not made fresh. Even in and out make makes fresh fries from potatoes in the restaurant. Where is the fresh food served at without a side a pesticides?

J
Jody Running

Our food was AMAZING!. I had a grilled cheese on steroids and was delicious! Our issue? The server. She couldn't smile to save her life. She was impolite to the point of being rude. This place was recommended to us and although the food was great, the service left us disappointed.

R
Riley Simas

Just a bar with top 40 music and a cover fee nothing special besides it being the only place open late in Paso Robles. Seems like a lot of weddings go there to after party (the reason we went) and it was bad because they just played all the same crappy mid 2000’s high school prom songs that were played at the wedding

G
GRAHAM O

48 year old irish guy who after spending $350 on dinner with my wife and 70 year old parents, and while waiting for my mom and wife to finish their last drink, was thrown out for wearing a Red Sox jacket at 952pm on New Year’s Eve. Have been to 100’s of Irish bars and have never felt more disrespected in my life. My parents had to ask why I was thrown out. Don’t act like you are an Irish bar when you are a wanna be club. Just change the name and embrace your after 10pm crowd. See if they pay your bills. Absolute disgrace. Not only will I never visit your wanna be Irish bar again I will never visit Paso Robles again because of your blatant disrespect. Paso get it together and realize the stain they are on your wonderful town and community. Pull their liquor license. If the crowd is so bad that I can’t wear a Red Sox jacket at 945pm when it’s 35 degrees out because they are afraid one of their guests might assault me, that is a reflection of your guests way more than me. Our uber driver and our hotel desk person both told us how they never go there anymore for the same reason. Your community is aware of your blatant racism and intolerance. Now you are casing people to never visit Paso again over your policies and intolerance. Plenty of other incredible Irish bars to visit in California. Don’t waste your time on this place that hates Irish people. . Hope wanna be club night is worth it.
