Beautiful~ not many people today, can take chair and sit in the water, swim area pretty good rapids nearby ~ still suggest life jacket and water foot wear for the rocks~ grassy area with trees ~people had their dogs there~ outhouses only~ boat launch. In Placerville area :)

Love this outdoor facility that allows me to drive up to the river edge and sit on the banks of the American River and fish and tan. I have mobility issues that limit me from many things in life. But here I am just an older woman enjoying nature and loving and living in the moment. The dude at the desk is always friendly and cool. Note that they open at 8:30 on weekends so unless you fancy carrying everything over or around the gate (and paying when he gets there) sign up for the late shuttle ride.

Perfect spot to catch a few rays, gold pan or raft, friendly atmosphere. Chili bar has access to private cabin with reservation in a beautifully tucked property with amenities. I would recommend this place to all!

These people do a fantastic job at preserving and keeping clean the put in for the busy South Fork of the American kayaking and rafting run. Year after year they have a great staff who work hard so that we can have a great access point on the river.

Beautiful little spot on Hwy 193 3 miles off Hwy 49 out of Placerville. Great for picnic lunch and absorbing the beauty of nature.

Great place to spend some time with kids, have a picknick, swimm in the river. When we went, it was not crowded at all, which was good and safe. But there is no restroom and parking is paid, so plan your trip there. But definitely a place we will come back!

The classic put in for the upper half of the South Fork of the American. Recent flooding has made the private boat launch considerably more awkward as you can no longer drive all the way around the lawn by the water. This area now gets pretty congested. Otherwise, this is a safe place to launch and leave a few cars while on the river.

Easy access. Grateful to have it for amazing river. Parking is not cheap. If you boat this section often it could be worth buying an annual pass.

Not a traditional store but a over priced convenience store , and it's closed for the season. The raft put in area / park is not open to gold panning, metal detecing or rock collecting quite a bummer.
