Probably the best fried chicken I've ever had. Crispy breading, moist and tender interior. Sides of mashed potatoes, gravy, and coleslaw were also excellent. It was listed as dinner for two at $30 and the portions seemed just about right. Very nicely done restaurant. Good selection of beers and whiskeys.

Excellent cocktails (with a New Orleans-style influence) make this an easy choice for quick drink, but their oysters are the main draw. My wife and I love stopping here for a before- or after- dinner treat. Their attention to detail surround their oyster service makes ordering and enjoying them easy for beginners and experts alike.

Excellent service, delicious and surprising food, laid back atmosphere with a dash of class. The service was top notch. The wait staff was in a great mood and eager to banter and suggest. We tried many items - a variety of Pacific NW oysters, fried quail, ribs, pork shoulder, fried green tomatoes, scallops, and more. Each item had it's own flair, a touch of heat, and house made sauces. Some reviews here mention the heat being too high - is it appropriate to rate a place low because you are a wimp? Maybe. But I found the heat to be refreshing, and as anyone who enjoys spicy food knows, it brings out many flavors and adds to the complexity of the dish. Definitely will be back.

This restuarant has an unique menu. Upscale, Cajun/southern/Italian/gourmet vibe is how I would describe it. I had the zucchini pie. My husband had crawfish ravioli. Both were delicious. The decor is nice as well, sophisticated but not formal. All I can say, is that you should try it.

The raw oysters were fresh and excellent. The cocktails were made with care and top shelf liquors. When we asked about certain ingredients, the bartender came over and gave us personal tastings and showed us the bottles, explaining what the liquor was and where it came from. The entrees were delicious and the three of us could not decide between us which of the trifecta we ordered was the best. The piece de resistance was the goat cheese cheesecake with figs and pinot noir sauce. Tangy and amazing. If we hadn't been so full, I would have ordered another slice. I highly recommend this restaurant to all. If I make it back to Portland, this place is the first on my list.

HAPPY HOUR REVIEW 3:00-6:00pm Daily ** FOOD $3.00–$6.00 Select oysters on the half shell (several kinds, be sure to confirm the HH ones for the discount); grilled shrimp, corn, or chicken hearts; plus wedge salad, burger, sausage, soft boiled eggs. ** DRINK DEALS $2.00 Trumer pils; $6.00 house wine or sparkling, $4.00 well drinks ** ATMOSPHERE -- An oyster bar in the Pearl. I like it! Then add in a New Orleans spin with spicy creole taster plates and super cute decor? I’m a devoted follower! Beautiful design with soft blue-greys, dark woods, and Martha Stewart-worthy signage and slightly churchy room dividers.

We came here for a drink on our bachelorette weekend and it was great! The service was phenomenal and the cocktails were delicious. We will definitely come back next time we are in Portland!

Great service, well mixed cocktails and the food was delicious. I had the Negroni and turtle soup for a late night snack. Unique dish with excellent flavor

This place is 100% original! You won't find another restaurant like it in pdx. Have them bring you out all there hand made hot sauces as the dishes leave room for the spice so that you can really dial it in! Yum

Really great oysters and New Orleans inspired dishes. Great mixed drinks as well. Get the fried okra to start and the wild boar gumbo is ridiculously good! No muffuletta, though...

This place was awesome, very sad to see it go. Menu was rich in southern flavors and plenty of fresh seafood. Cocktails were on point and happy hour couldn't be beat for cheap oysters!

This is a fun, enjoyable cajun style restaurant. The oysters and gumbo stand out. It really offers a different and exciting choice among Portland restaurants.

Not sure why this place isn't just bumping all the time. Got right in and the food was good. If you don't handle spicy food, ask the server what is spicy and what is mild. Protip: corn bread is spicy.

The happy hour deals on oysters are incredible. Service is good. No complaints.

All of the dishes are overly spicy. The turtle soup was tasty, but the flavors are overpowered by the heat. Even dishes that are served in Louisiana as add-your-own-heat are doused in chili. The fries were too salty to eat. The bread pudding was pasty. The cocktails are good. It's great to have a place that serves crawfish, turtle, frog legs, and lots of oysters. It would be much improved if the heat and salt were dialed back and the kitchen focused on the flavors.

Stopped in here after a play. Big mistake! I had a salad, an order of their "hand-cut" fries and the frog legs. My wife had a pasta dish that was made up of some kind of ravioli and crawfish heads stuffed with a small shrimp. The sauce for this was the only saving grace of this strange and minimal entree. My fries were over-cooked and contained mostly very small pieces-maybe the last of a batch ( I hope ). My salad would have been good if I could have tasted it through the hot sauce. Seriously, the best part of the flavorless frogs legs was the cabbage upon which they were served. Beyond the "food", the service was atrocious. Our waiter took our order and after thirty minutes of not hearing from him, we noticed that his occupation had changed to bar tending. We received our food a full forty-five minutes after ordering at a time when there were many vacant tables. Think twice before subjecting yourself to this place.

I went there for lunch today, ordered Jambalaya which I assumed I would get but instead I got a dish with basically rice and chicken and some herbs mixed in it. I'm not exactly sure where the chef got his recipe but this was not Jambalaya! The rice smelled burned, more than half of the dish was chicken "skin" instead of chicken and the other half was dry old chicken with no flavor, there was only one or two tiny pieces of sausage in there which was completely burned. I'm an event coordinator who goes to restaurants a lot for catering options, this was by far the absolute WORSE food I have tasted in the last 10 years! The server was polite and asked how my food was and after I told him it tasted very dry, he recommended I add some hot sauce that was on the table, seriously??? Anyway, I paid $12 for a disgusting dish and will never go back there again! yak!

We were in town for just a night & tried to dine here but left due to the terrible service. Walked in with 2 minutes left in HH. Hostess tells us happy hour is over. I show her my phone with the time on it, she shrugs. When we decide to leave, she tells us happy hour is from 3 to 5 - as though we weren't there before 5. Literally one of the worst interactions I've ever had with another human.

My wife just made reservations a week ago for a surprise dinner reservation for tomorrow for my surprise birthday party and they made the reservation and they said it was good to go, now they just emailed her just a few minutes ago from a guy named tobius and he said they are cancelling her reservation because they are" in the middle of a transition ". I don't know what that means, but unfortunately my wife is severely upset cause now she has to call everyone and tell them all the plans are cancelled. Highly dissaponting since we have loved their sister restaurant "eats" for awhile now. Unfortunately, since they have upset my wife that tried make a surprise 30th birthday party for myself I am highly upset amd disgusted with their services!!!! Now she has to scramble to try and find another venue / restaurant for my bday that is no longer a surprise.
