The place inside is charming and atmospheric. The service is very friendly and helpful, as well as quick. All the dishes are excellent: mountain cuisine truly well-made and at affordable prices. Two dishes stand out: capunet (a kind of stuffed capune) and cotechino en croute. We'll definitely be back. Well done.

Our two families had an amazing experience at the Hostaria 1898 - filled with delicious local Specialities and some great history lessons to accompany the dishes as well. They were able to expertly accommodate my brother in law’s gluten free request as well. This place is a little gem! Well worth a stop or two.

Excellent restaurant serving traditional cuisine; we go there every time we're in the valley. Very authentic, all the dishes are prepared with care and precision. The menu is presented verbally without prices, which can be a bit confusing (there is a chalkboard outside the restaurant entrance, though). Be sure to book ahead as it's very often full.

Absolutely fabulous! Went there 2 days ago and had the most delicious local food. Atmosphere was amazing too. They even catered for my Coeliac husband. They were very clued up about gluten free food and the waitress explained carefully what he could and could not eat. Would highly recommend!

The welcome and courtesy were top-notch Piedmontese appetizers, the tagliolini were superb, the polenta and venison were spectacular, the desserts were simply breathtaking, the attentive service was second to none. This lovely restaurant in Soucheres-Basses, in the Chisone Valley, offers quality Piedmontese cuisine in a warm, refined, and family-friendly atmosphere. For appetizers, we tried tongue with red and green sauce, meat-stuffed zucchini, and anchovies in green sauce—all excellent. For first courses, we moved on to tagliolini with pumpkin, gorgonzola, and sausage cream and wild boar ravioli: both delicious, yet delicate, and truly delicious. Finally, we had a warm chocolate and pear cake. The staff is very friendly and makes you feel at ease, and the bill was absolutely reasonable. Excellent!

Great experience. The place is nice, there's not much space, but they managed to maintain a minimum distance between the tables. A little more lighting would be nice, you could barely see what was on your plate. The dishes were very good. The venison with polenta was really good and the portion was generous. The appetizers were also varied. The ketchup could be omitted. The bagna cauda didn't have much garlic. Overall, we were satisfied. The prices were also average.

A mountain inn serving traditional dishes (you have to like Piedmontese fare). We had a mix of good-quality hot and cold appetizers and polenta with stew. The food was good, and the atmosphere was very quiet and intimate (some background music would be nice to tone it down a bit). Overall, it was good, but I'm not sure I'd go back.

Modest inn and modest cuisine. The food is as it should be in a inn, home-style, but the prices are the same as in a high-end restaurant, if not more. Cold appetizers and a hot dish cost €20 per person, simple first courses cost €16, and let's not even talk about simple second courses like stew with tomato sauce and a little polenta, and small desserts cost €6. If they served a menu with prices next to it, you'd be aware of your spending. Instead, the elderly waiter comes over and tells you what's on offer. Then, at the cash register, I asked for clarification on the cost of each dish he served me, because the receipt only totaled the bill. You've served me now, and you'll never serve me anything else but goodbye... I said, "Never again." I don't recommend this place due to the lack of a menu, prices, and allergen warnings.

I modi cortesi ma la qualità del servizio e del cibo scarsa. Pagato 50 euro a testa per antipasti primo e secondo, tutte porzioni piccole e mal servite (questa è in osteria ma i prezzi davvero troppo alti). Locale molto rumoroso e poca attenzione al cliente.

What looked like a nice little local restaurant turned out to be a tourist trap. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid. One of those unfortunate family places where the owner invents prices based on where he thinks you come from. Charged €50 for a plate of antipasto because we were 2 adults and 3 children. Disgraceful. Food is average and extremely expensive for what it is. Much better places in the area. Avoid.
