Chicken French was awesome!!!! I keep thinking about it, I'll definitely suggest we go there next time we all meet out. We sat off the bar at these big booths, very comfortable and our waitress was wonderful. Can't wait to go back!

My best friend, wife, and myself went for a celebratory dinner. For apps we go the lamb lollipops, potato croquettes, and the antipasto. Generous portions and delicious! For dinner I ordered the 14 oz Delmonico steak, medium. It was tender, cooked perfectly and expertly seasoned. My wife ordered the chicken French. Probably one of the best I’ve tasted thus far. My best friend ordered the duck. While I am not a fan of duck, the flavor was incredible and I was impressed. For dessert we shared the flourless chocolate torte. So creamy, so worth it. Spend the money. Go here. We will surely be back

We did a Celebration of Life for my Mom. Jen Jones was great to work with for the planning and Jada was an excellent server. There were several others who assisted Jada (Tracy and Jaidia?) who were also good. The food (buffet) was excellent.

I hosted my sister’s baby shower at Monroe’s in the Vintage Room. The space was beautiful; old charm, private, clean, and bright. The staff went above and beyond to ensure that our event ran smoothly, promptly restocked beverages and food, checked in to see if they could be of any assistance, and did all of it with a smile. The convenience of the venue catering beverages, brunch, and dessert decreased stress and additional planning/coordinating. They easily accommodated a guest with a gluten allergy and even hand delivered her meal and dessert to ensure no contamination. I would highly recommend Monroe’s for your next event and look forward to returning soon!

My partner and I have eaten here about 4-5 times now and it’s officially our new favorite restaurant. We’ve gotten the same waitress named Sarah a couple times. She was super nice, super fast with service and gave some excellent recommendations for cocktails and dishes. The food itself has been AMAZING every single time! I personally recommend the Lavender Lemon Martini and steak. However their pasta is homemade and super amazing. The portions are also huge!

Had an engagement party here and everything was beautiful. The upstairs party room accommodated about 40 of us easily and comfortably. The buffet provided a wide selection of entrees and everything was delicious and served hot. I wish I had more room for seconds. Fan faves were the eggplant parmesan, the Italian sausage and peppers, potatoes, and chicken French. A cash bar was provided for the party only and provided more space to gather and socialize. Highly recommend for your special occasion. The restaraunt itself was packed on our way out at 8 pm. It smelled more amazing down in that area. 😀

First, Natalie was our Coordinator and she was wonderful to work with. We put on Baby Shower Brunch. Monroe’s is stunning and our room was perfect. My son and daughter in law could not attend, but they set up large screen to Zoom them in. Set up perfect, beverages, food, sweets perfect! Staff amazing! Jeremy and Kylie took care of us, always there for what ever we needed! The Staff made our party a success, everyone loved it!

Beyond amazing!!! My fiance and I decided to treat ourselves to a date night here and everything was phenomenal from the food to the service. To start for our drinks we ordered the blackberry mule, and an espressotini, and for appetizers the crab stuffed mushrooms, and the meatball. Then for dinner we got the chicken parmesan, and the 12 oz new york strip steak with the lobster tail, he got the wedge salad, and I got the caesar salad, and I couldn't resist getting the lobster bisque. I cannot even begin to tell you how absolutely delicious everything was!!! It was so good we had to get dessert to go and we went with the coconut cake and peanut butter pie.

I attended a baby shower at Monroes, the food and service was outstanding. We were in the older part of the restaurant with old school historic Erie Canal charm. I have been here many times and they never fail to please. It's one of my favorites.

We had a birthday party for a family member in the vintage room. The food was pretty good, but the service was excellent. Jeremy was very attentive and worked hard to make sure everything went smoothly, which is why we host many events there.

Food is always fantastic, with very large portion sizes. Catering has also always been excellent, as I had my rehearsal dinner there (Jen is AMAZING to work with!) The walnut-crusted chicken is my favorite, and the cranberry blossom salad is delicious. That said, I’m not a fan of the two-hour table limit, especially when it can take close to an hour to receive your meal. I’ve felt rushed in the past, which doesn’t really make sense when we were consistently ordering drinks and additional items. I also want to note that we had the same waitress twice with a large party, and unfortunately she was not very friendly either time. Overall, the food is fantastic, but the policy and service experience have taken away from what could otherwise be a perfect visit.

I can only review it based on the thanksgiving buffet. Which was really good! The aesthetics of the place was great - it was a really pretty restaurant. The draft list was pretty decent. It's real hard to judge fully, as we had a buffet, but everything was pretty good, and there was a lot of variety in the buffet. If I was local to the area, I'd probably go check it out for regular service!

From a service standpoint - IMO they were exceptional. We had a family dinner after a memorial service in a private room - and they opened an hour early to better accommodate our schedule. If you have requests, I'd say ask them! They are there to serve us within reason! Food was good all the way around. I got the scallop dish - they were cooked perfectly, not a hint of 'rubberiness' - but for my taste they needed about half the salt that was used. The fingerling potatoes were excellently done too. One of my cousins got the same dish - the first couple scallops she ate were good, then she got a saltier one. We also had a dedicated bartender - which was nice. My better half had a couple of the same drink - and while they were good - there seemed to be some I inconsistencies in the mixes.

I was invited to a family celebration, and was excited to try what seems to be a delectable menu. The beverage/wine/cocktail menu was diverse, our party ran the gamut from water to soda to classic and experimental cocktails. All mouth-watering. The appetizers (meatballs, shrimp cocktail, quesadillas, croquettes) were fantastic. Great flavors and presentation. The dinners looked amazing as they arrived, huge portions and delicious tomato sauces, vodka sauces and steak with potatoes... Except the Calabrian pasta, which the menu described as "SPICY CALABRIAN CREAM SAUCE (PLEASE NOTE: VERY SPICY)." What I received was pasta in a deep pool of oil. I stirred a bit looking for the spicy cream sauce (and the "very spicy" flavor), but did not find it. Ended up bringing my dish home - as did everyone else with the ginormous, delicious portions they received. I thought perhaps when I reheated it for lunch it would magically become creamier, but alas - still a puddle of oil with little flavor or spice. I'm not out a penny, because my dinner was paid for by our amazing relatives who footed the whole bill, but I feel badly that they spent $34 for my disappointing dish, and I feel sad that while everyone will be having another delicious dinner or two from their leftovers, I'm probably not going to finish it. 🙄 The photos attached show the thick refrigerator-congealed oil that I scraped from the takeout container into a bowl to reheat - and the puddle my not-so-creamy rewarmed pasta formed. It wouldn't have been so disappointing if it hadn't sounded so amazing to begin with. ✌🏻

We’ve been looking forward to this dinner for a while. Have to say, we were a little disappointed. The service was initially very slow, but she perked up after we had to go to ask for service. The drinks, appetizers and atmosphere were excellent which earned the 3 stars. Dinner was mediocre at best. Lacking flavor but really huge servings. We were a table of six and we all brought some home, which doesn’t normally happen. I really don’t appreciate the automatic 22% gratuity on a party of six. I usually directly give the appropriate tip associated with the service received. This would have been maybe 18% at best. That should be my choice. We probably won’t be back. Not recommended.

We participated in a friend's birthday celebration of a party of 20. One waitress! Reservations for 5:30pm. They served us drinks and then took our order. After awhile brought out the bread. Time ticking away. My husband asked for the manager because we watched the area as people came in order and received their food. The manager finally came over and my husband stated we have been sitting 2 hours and have not even received salads. By this time it's after 7:30pm. They finally bring out the salads, and appetizers for whomever had them. We told the waitress to cancel our meal from the party and bring our receipt for what we did have. Receipt comes $175.50 with tip included and no meal in hand. Manager states they can't take the meal off. As it's already made up. Now it's 8:30pm they finally started bringing out entrees. Everyone was agitated. I must say we were the only party of African Americans being served. 5:30-8:30pm is unacceptable to be served!! Some had their meals boxed to go. BAD SERVICE

We had reservations for 2. We waited a long time for our server to actually take our order. Our section was not even half full. Our food came. Portions were very big. Meatball was dry. I couldn't even discuss with our server as she never once came back, until she just randomly showed up with boxes. For the price and ambience I would expect better service. We were there for 2 hours and 45 minutes, most of that time being unnecessary waiting.

I recently celebrated my birthday at your restaurant with a party of 24, and I wanted to take a moment to share my experience. While I had high hopes for our evening, I was unfortunately let down by the service. We had to wait for three hours before we received our meals. This lengthy wait was particularly frustrating, especially since we only had one waitress assigned to our large party. We felt compelled to repeatedly check on the status of our order, which was quite disappointing. I believe that with better staff allocation and communication, this would not have been an issue. I wanted to bring this to your attention, as I genuinely hope to see improvements in the future. WANDA

I returned on a Monday evening more out of convenience than anticipation, having been underwhelmed before. We had a decent sized group, ordered cocktails and wine, and our bill easily reached several hundred dollars. When guests are spending that much, they reasonably expect quality and attentiveness. The appetizers were fine but forgettable. Service was inconsistent, with long stretches where our server was absent. The main issue was my braised beef ragù. It was overwhelmingly sweet, completely unbalanced, and nearly inedible. After a few bites, I sent it back. Management refused to remove it from the bill, insisting nothing was wrong with it. When a table is spending upward of $700, accommodating one clearly flawed entrée should not be controversial. Having dined at many well regarded restaurants, I find the local hype hard to understand. This was disappointing across flavor, service, and hospitality. I hope the owner reads this and takes it as constructive feedback. Unfortunately, I won’t be returning.

I have been to Monroe's several times over the years. Sadly, the past few times I've gone, the quality and service have declined. Although the portions are huge, they are lacking in flavor and quality. The last time I went, my soup was lukewarm at best. My pesto shrimp pasta was flavorless. I don't mind paying for quality food, but this is not it.

I’ve been to Monroe’s many times and really wanted to keep supporting it, but I continue to leave disappointed. The pricing and portion sizes feel extreme, with a focus on quantity instead of quality. For a restaurant in this price range, I’d expect seasonal, local, high-quality ingredients and a more thoughtful approach. The overall hospitality is also lacking. The policies around seating, party size, what tables and sharing come across as rigid and unwelcoming, which takes away from what should be a relaxed dining experience. Dining out shouldn’t feel policed. As someone who also helps plan events locally, I’ve chosen Monroe’s before, but unfortunately I can no longer recommend it moving forward. I’ve also seen other diners raise similar concerns publicly, so this doesn’t feel like an isolated issue. To make matters worse, when you go to Monroe’s website there’s no way to contact a manager or send feedback directly. Without an email or point of contact, guests are left with no option but to share concerns publicly like this. I hope the restaurant reconsiders its model. Smaller portions at more reasonable prices, higher-quality seasonal ingredients, and more welcoming hospitality could transform Monroe’s into the kind of place people are eager to return to. The food itself is consistently underwhelming. Dishes are poorly executed, often lacking balance or care in preparation, and the flavors simply don’t match the prices being charged. On top of that, the constant upcharges feel excessive and frustrating. I honestly don’t know what the chef is thinking with this approach it comes across as careless rather than creative.

Very disappointing dining experience. We unfortunately got seated next to a group of 25+. We sat there for almost 20 minutes before anyone came to our table to bring water and take our drink order. It took over another 15 minutes before we got our drinks. Then we had to listen to one man at the large table complaining to the manager, as he is pointing at us, complaining how we received our bread and salads before his table of 25+ people. From that point, the staff and manager was only focused on the large group. We had to go to bar to get more drinks. All they said was sorry we had a large table. Then we had to wait 15 minutes to get our check. Never going back. John Morell

Horrible experience. We had a reservation, that we had to make a $40 deposit for, and once we got there it was a 30 minute wait. Once we sat down the waitress said that food is taking a little longer to come out. We sat there for over an hour with no bread or salad brought out to us, with no update on food. After almost 2 hours we decided to get our food to go. Our Valentines day date was ruined and the manager refused to even give us a free round of drinks for the poor service. We paid for a restaurant eating experience we did not even get. I understand it was Valentine’s day and super busy, but don’t take this many reservations if you can’t handle it. This was our 3rd time coming to Monroe’s and we loved it here, but we will not be back. Very disappointed.

Well, I sent you the email you've requested and i haven't heard anything back. Its nice that you respond to make it look like you're doing good business but it's clearly a joke. Horrible food, horrible experience and even worse Google review resposes. If anyone spends a dine at your restaurant you'll regret it. Absolutely horrible meal. Couldn't be any more disappointed. Two buddies of mine and myself were there tonight. All three Delmonicos were over cooked and zero flavor. I got the crab on top of mine and I couldn't even chew it, It was overcooked as well! The crab stuff mushrooms were all salt and then I get home and receive a text that the two pumpkin cheesecakes he bought to bring home for his wife and Daughter said they were horrible and didn't even eat them. By far the worst meal all three of us have ever had at a restaurant. For 363.00 for three of us. That's just not right! Do better!

I was invited by a friend to her birthday dinner and had never been to this restaurant before. Based on their website and positive online presence, I was looking forward to a pleasant evening. Unfortunately, the experience turned out to be one of the worst I’ve ever had at any restaurant. After being seated, it took about 45 minutes before we were served anything - just bread and a soggy salad that most of us didn’t even touch. Our dinner orders weren’t taken until over an hour into the visit, and this was on a Monday night, not a particularly busy weekend evening. By the time it was after 8 p.m., we still hadn’t received our entrees. When we brought our concerns to the waitress, she explained that the kitchen was behind because four other large parties had arrived around the same time. However, our group had made reservations over a week in advance, so it was disappointing that no preparation had been made to accommodate us. When the manager came over, we expected an apology or at least a genuine attempt to make things right. Instead, we received more excuses, a lot of attitude and no apology whatsoever. In the end, we left without ever being served our entrees, yet were still charged over $20 each for the uneaten salad, water, and an automatic 22% gratuity. I rarely write reviews, but this experience was unacceptable from start to finish. I will never visit this restaurant again, and I urge others to think twice before dining here.

My recent visit to this restaurant was unfortunately very disappointing. Although we had made a reservation and even paid a deposit, our party waited nearly two hours for our food to arrive. During that time, our server did not check in or offer any refills, which added to the frustration. When we inquired about the delay, we were told that several large parties had arrived at the same time. However, since our reservation was confirmed in advance, I expected the restaurant to be adequately staffed and prepared for our visit. When we voiced our concerns to the manager, her response was surprisingly unprofessional. Rather than listening and offering a solution, she became defensive and dismissive—especially after we requested to cancel our entrees due to the excessive wait. It’s also worth noting that the restaurant enforces a two-hour dining limit, yet we spent that entire time simply waiting for food that never arrived. Combined with excessive prices and unnecessary extra charges, the overall experience felt very poorly managed. I cannot recommend dining here.

Came here with high expectations after reading all the online reviews, but what a disappointment! Our server never mentioned that the pasta portions were HUGE. Honestly, four people could have easily shared two pastas and added some other dishes. Instead, we ended up with four giant plates—way too much food that we couldn’t even finish. A little heads-up would have been professional, but the server was dismissive and arrogant. Out of the four pastas, two tasted almost the same (both angel hair). The pasta was completely bland—clearly missing salt—and the noodles were overcooked to a mushy texture, like something made for an 80-year-old. To make it worse, the pasta was literally sitting in oil (see photo 🤮). When we mentioned this to the server, she brushed it off saying that since we ordered without cheese, the garlic and olive oil had no seasoning. Seriously? If the customer has to season the dish themselves, then what’s the chef even doing? Overcooked pasta is clearly a mistake, yet she ignored the question and walked away. Overall, terrible food and even worse service. No idea why this place is so hyped. Honestly, not even worth leaving a 1% tip. 👎
